This Presentation would help you to explore Revit as a BIM tool and get you familiar with Revit features along with its usefulness & importance in the AEC industry. It is a brief presentation enlighting the important attributes of Revit software.
Building information modeling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. Building information models (BIMs) are files (often but not always in proprietary formats and containing proprietary data) which can be exchanged or networked to support decision-making about a place. Current BIM software is used by individuals, businesses and government agencies who plan, design, construct, operate and maintain diverse physical infrastructures, such as water, wastewater, electricity, gas, refuse and communication utilities, roads, bridges and ports, houses, apartments, schools and shops, offices, factories, warehouses and prisons.

From 3D to 6D Managing the Information Labyrinth of BIM.pdfVincentPoon15
As the Building Information Modeling (BIM) concept continually matures and gains wider recognition as a crucial collaborative process within the building design and construction industry, the demand for BIM services from construction managers, architects, and engineering firms is on the rise. In response to this growing need, AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) firms are proactively investing in BIM technologies to enhance their capabilities across various project phases, including bidding, preconstruction, construction, and post-construction stages.
This presentation equips participants with essential skills and best practices for effectively managing BIM data throughout the entire project lifecycle. Through a series of scenario-based presentations and real-world case studies, attendees gain valuable insights into the seamless flow of BIM information from the initial design phases to ongoing building maintenance. Furthermore, this course emphasizes the synergistic potential of integrating specification writing seamlessly into the BIM workflow.
By the conclusion of this course, participants will have acquired a thorough comprehension of how BIM data evolves as it progresses through the design, construction management, and, ultimately, building operation and maintenance phases.
Key learning objectives
List the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of BIM
implementation in the building design and construction industry
1. Identify current uses of BIM technologies in the architectural, engineering,
construction, and building management industry construction, and building management industry
2. Describe best practices for implementing BIM in an integrated work culture or
environment
3. Define the importance of integrating specification writing with BIM workflow

BIM Workflows: How to Build from CAD & GIS for InfrastructureSafe Software
BIM workflows give facilities managers, architects, and engineers key information for better-informed infrastructure planning and management. But how do you migrate to a BIM system when your current data is stored in CAD? Through a real-world international airport example, find out how CAD and engineering data can be centralized in a Document Management System (Autodesk Vault) and GIS database (SQL Server Spatial) using FME, and learn how to create BIM workflows from CAD data.
BIM means a multitude of things to a myriad of stakeholders, companies, and geographical locations, based on multiple factors.
However, from a holistic viewpoint, the meaning we append to and the expectations we have of BIM are not as important as the connection that BIM brings when properly deployed with cloud-based solutions; thus, filling so many inefficiency gaps.
This is the era of Connected Construction and there has been an increased need for remote collaboration across every industry.
For whatever reason you implement Digital Transformation in your practice, you will most likely reap more benefits in the long run, if you can collaborate and connect with the other stakeholders across your projects.

Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) overviewMattSharon1
Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is a collaborative process that uses digital technologies to create and simulate the construction of a project before it is built physically. VDC integrates building information modeling (BIM), project management tools, and other technologies to help project teams visualize, plan, and coordinate their work more effectively.
VDC can be used to improve all aspects of the construction process, from design to construction to operations. Some of the key benefits of VDC include:
Improved communication and collaboration: VDC provides a single platform for all project stakeholders to view and share information about the project. This helps to improve communication and collaboration, and reduces the risk of errors and omissions.
Reduced costs and waste: VDC can be used to identify and eliminate potential problems in the design and construction process before they occur. This can help to reduce costs and waste, and improve the overall quality of the project.
Improved safety: VDC can be used to simulate and analyze safety hazards before construction begins. This helps to identify and mitigate potential hazards, and improve the safety of workers and the public.
Increased schedule predictability: VDC can be used to create and track detailed project schedules. This helps to improve schedule predictability and reduce the risk of delays.
VDC is becoming increasingly popular in the construction industry, as project teams recognize the benefits that it can offer. VDC is being used on projects of all sizes and types, from commercial and residential buildings to infrastructure projects and industrial facilities.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
