BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a new design and construction paradigm utilized by owners, architects, engineers, MEP engineers, and builders globally to design buildings virtually using software like Autodesk Revit, Bentley BIM, and Archicad. Contractors and subcontractors incorporate additional information into the BIM models for tasks like quantities, 4D scheduling, coordination, and fabrication. Existing buildings can be modeled through as-built drawings, laser scanning, or uploading point clouds and asset specifications into cloud-based modeling software. BIM models integrate easily with existing systems like CMMS, CAFM, and BAS.
