 The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to transfer 
computer files from one host to another host over a network, such as the Internet. 
It is a method of connecting and uploading or downloading files between a remote server (the 
server that is hosting your live site) and your local desktop computer. 
-> GMAIL, DROPBOX etc gives you space with limitation. 
USES: 
1) uploading a large quantity of files 
2) create a backup copy of the files 
3) preserve the existing data before launching the new version
 proper login information and permissions which allow you to make the connection. 
 multiple sites hosted on the same platform -> site's URL, such as 
my_domain_name.com 
 ftp client (software) or folder to upload or download files.

 FileZilla - Linux, Mac OS X and Windows ( fast, free, lots of document, 
easy to learn)

 Secure File Transfer Protocol, also allows file transfers between hosts with encrypted 
commands and data both, preventing passwords and sensitive information from being 
transmitted. 
 SFTP can be used by SSH command line. 
 SSH (Secure Shell) provides an encrypted channel for logging into another computer over a 
network, executing commands on a remote computer, and moving files from one computer to 
another. 
Difference betn FTP and SFTP: 
 FTP is accessible anonymously, and in most cases is not encrypted; SFTP protocol is 
encrypted.
 Amazon provides storage services to store data in form of files and folders. 
 AWS access key This is actually a username . It is alphanumeric text string that uniquely 
identifies the user who owns the account. 
 AWS Secret key This key plays the role of a password . It's called secret because it is 
assumed to be known by the owner only that's why
