process. The quenching
process converts the billets
layer into martensite and
shrink. Shrinkage process
pressurize the core and
helps to form the accurate
structure, the core remains
hot.
The bar leaves the quench
box with temperature
gradient. Gradually as the
temperature goes down
heat flows from bars centre
to its surface. Bars heat and
pressure correctly tempers
an intermediate ring of
martensite and bainite.
The final step is known as
Atmospheric cooling. Right
after the quenching
automatically tempers the
austenitic core to ferrite
and Pearlite on the cooling
bed which is having strong,
tough, tempered martensite
in the surface layer of the
bar, an intermediate layer of
martensite and bainite, and
a refined, tough and ductile
ferrite and pearlite core.
