When Was Peter Pan Banned
Peter Pan made a choice to ban anyone who grew older. Since Peter Pan made the decision to banish
all of his followers who grew older, this caused the boys to grow disgust for Pan himself. Peter Pan
made a terrible choice banishing all the boys to No Where Land where they would be shunned forever
and called the Roarers. Peter Pan has the biggest problem in the story because on one adventure, Peter
and his League of Explorers found the Jolly Rodger. As he and his league explored James Hook s
uninhabited ship of 20+ years, Peter found and put on Hook s second best coat. Peter Pan began
wearing many of the Captain s clothing. In Neverland, when you wore somebody s clothing you
became them, so Peter was slowly turning into his worst enemy, ... Show more content on

This friend would need to be filled with kindness and love since Captain Hook is full of hatred and
evil. I feel if Hook had a friend, he would not be evil, but he would be kind and see the nice side of
everything and everyone. A good relationship would have trust, love, and kindness. An example would
be the relationship of Tootles and Peter. Tootles loves Peter with all her heart, and she would do
anything for him. This book does have bias, such as the fairy war and the questions they asked the
explorers. Another would be who Ravello really was and those who came to Neverland. There are two
moments when I disagreed with the author, such as making Ravello a whole new character, when he
was someone else we already knew. Another would be what happened to Hook at the end of the story,
the author could have left room for another sequel. I think this book is meant to grab attention of
anyone from teens to adults, this is because of the foul language and death in the book; however, it
would grab almost anyone s attention. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good
read, and loves fictional, fantasy, and sci fi books. I would not, however, recommend it to history
lovers who want facts and

Figurative Language In Macbeth
Marjorie Garber immediately evokes her insight of Shakespeare s work Macbeth in the book
Shakespeare After All. The first couple of paragraphs interprets the meaning of the witches dramatic
role in this creative work. In addition, fate was symbolized in a human and nonhuman form a
persuasive psychological reality of their own , according to Gaber. She also strongly suggests that
equivocation is the running theme throughout the play. Garber s idea that Shakespeare s had the ability
to bring forth ambiguity while connecting the plot emulating real events during Queen Elizabeth and
King James I reign in the 17th Century through figurative language. The play s quality has the ability
to be opened to more interpretations as well by displaying a political trend of the 21st Century. ...

I can argue that Starnes disagreement displays the open interpretation of his Trump s rhetoric, in
addition to the mistrustful undertone from the opposing political party. Macbeth s valiancy, and
trustfulness would have had no basis of argument in Duncan s sensible conclusions just as Todd
Starnes from Fox News. This allows for two open interpretations of that slogan. In another article,
written by Anthony Cappo named, The Scary Connection between Donald Trump s Campaign and
Macbeth. According to the article there are similarities that the audience can historically compare to
Shakespeare s literary character (2016). The temperament, rampant narcissism, and all past bad

Effects Of The Vatican And Nazi Germany
Introduction: Have anyone watched a movie Amen ? Amen is based on real story, German, Romanian
French drama directed by Costa Gavras. The film examines the links between the Vatican and Nazi
Germany. The movie contains a scene of killing Jews and others in extermination camp by Hydrogen
cyanide mixture called Zyklon B. But does anyone notice that it is an actually car gas, technically
liquid form, but converted to gas at room temperature 25 degree? Estimates released 2014, WHO
reports that in 2012 around 7 million people died one in eight of total global deaths as a result of air
pollution exposure. (http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2014/air pollution/en/)
The definition of air pollution is the air contains gases, dust, fumes or odor in harmful amounts. That
is, amounts which could be harmful to the health or comfort of humans and animals or which could
cause damage to plants and materials. Primary air pollutant includes carbon monoxide from car
exhausts and sulfur dioxide from the combustion of coal. Further pollution can arise if pollutants in
the atmosphere undergo chemical reactions. (http://www.epa.vic.gov.au/air/aq4kids/pollution.asp)
Some forms of air pollution create global problems, such as upper atmosphere ozone depletion and
global warming. These problems are very complex, and require international cooperative efforts to
find solutions. What is more complex is that any pollutants such as ozone and tiny particles of toxins

Music In American Schools
For most American children, music class was considered one of the most exciting times of the school
day. Music class was treated as a break from the normal curriculum of reading, math, science, and
social studies. Music has been included in most American schools for several decades. However, due
to budget cuts, our school district is eliminating the music program for the next school year. I feel that
cutting extracurricular activities, such as sports and music, would be detrimental to our students.
Students who are exposed to music develop many skills that can be used in their daily lives. Some of
these skills include self discipline, teamwork, and building self esteem. Music can also be a great
outlet for creativity and self expression. Among these acquired skills, one of the most important is the
development of self discipline. This skill can be seen in the student as they develop their schedule ...

Whether it is choir or band, the student learns the importance of being a reliable member of a group.
They learn the importance of being a team player because the other members of the ensemble rely on
them to be at every rehearsal and performance. Music has also been shown to increase a student s
skills at problem solving and analysis. Many studies have shown that learning to read music or play a
musical instrument can lead to the development of a person s higher thinking skills. Reading music
uses the mathematical portion of the brain. In fact, many musicians also excel at math.
For the student that does not excel at academics, music can be the one bright spot in their day. While a
student could be struggling with their academic studies, he or she may excel at music. This could be
the student s chance to shine on a solo with the choir or orchestra for his or her school. This solo can

Justin s First Apology Analysis
1. Introduction
Second century philosopher, Justin Martyr grew up in Flavia Neapolis, Palestine, a city near the
ancient ruins of Shechem. The population of Shechem is thought to be of Samaritan descent, as was
Justin. However, he did not belong to an ethnic group associated with pagan theology. Instead, Justin
devoted his life to the pursuit of Christ by means of philosophy. Thus, Justin contributed to Christian
education through his understanding of the logos and his apologies.
2. Educational Background He mentioned being brought up in a Gentile culture, having a Greek
education, and being uncircumcised. Consequently, he remained unaware of Moses and the prophets
until later in life. Furthermore, he associated himself with the Gentiles, ... Show more content on

Many scholars have criticized the organization of Justin s First Apology, though, Justin and several
others used the apology as an apologetic tool or teaching material within catechetical schools. Thus,
the text could have been modified or rearranged to fit the specific needs of the academic context. In
fact, Minns and Parvis claim the text contains later glosses, and accidental transpositions of material.
However, despite the modifications made to the text, the Apology contains a logical progression of
thought. The Apology followed an ancient format used for speech: the exordium, or introduction; the
narratio, or statement of fact; the confirmatio, or proof of fact; the refutio, or rebuttal against opposing
views; and the peroratio, or conclusion. Many classic authors employ the exordium to gain the favor
of the recipient. However, Justin employed it to determine whether they deserved their advantageous
titles, pious and philosopher. Then, Justin employed the narratio to give reasons for his treatise. Next,
the confirmatio and refutio contain most the text. Justin elaborates on the unreasonableness of
Christian persecution on the mere basis of identifying with the Christian faith. Continuing under the
premise of Christianity s derelict nature, Justin argued for Christianity s uniqueness in regards to
monotheism. Furthermore, Justin argued for Christians being good members of the community.
Finally, after Justin s elaboration, he concluded his first apology by claiming the validity of Christ s
claims are proven by the fulfillment of his prophecies, and that Christian s employed rational
reasoning by worshipping Christ

A Taste Of Power By Elaine Brown
A Taste of Power was written by Elaine Brown who grew up in a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia
and sensed what it meant to be black people, female, and poor American. Elaine Brown described her
experiences as a woman in the inner circle of the Central Committee. In contrast to the black men s
narratives of their experiences, Elaine Brown points up defects of the revolutionary vanguard. The
Black Panther Party s buildings of a revolution were actually self righteous; a revolution without the
liberation of Black women from patriarchy would never lead to equality for all. Brown acknowledged,
like many other women in the Black Panther Party that systems of racial and classist oppression were
indeed intertwined with sexism. Though this lens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Newton envisioned the Black Panther Party leading would never be realized. An important theme in
Elaine Brown s book is the pervasive gender inequality within the party. Many panther women would
agree with Brown on gender inequality, as it was pervasive in many if not all panther chapters. In
addition, she highlights what she thought were causes of the fall of the party, and the changing
platform, which she takes much credit for. Other panther members have addressed these issues as
well. There seems to be some disagreement on what ultimately caused the demise of such an iconic
force, and Brown attempts to piece together the many reasons. Brown had the large task of combating
sexism as well as handling Central Committee conflicts that caused division in the party. She
describes the way state sanctioned violence killed many beloved Panther members, the inter Panther
conflict that caused international tensions to rise and because of her intimate love connection to Huey
Newton also provides a candid view into his mindset. Brown dealt with these conflicts, which at times
seemed unresolvable and eventually left the Black Panther Party after many years of faithful service.
Prior to Brown s assignment as chairman, one could look at the Central Committee of the Black
Panther Party and safely assume that testosterone was a pre requisite for revolution. Women in the

Rhetorical Analysis of The Truman Show
What I aim to do with this rhetorical analysis is bring forth to the reader a deeply immersive look at
the rhetorical concepts present in the film The Truman Show. It is important for a viewer to fully
understand the underlying messages and subtle undertones in between the lines, so to speak. The
Truman Show is one man s life being played out in a closed environment for the entertainment of the
outside world. Most important to note, Truman Burbank has no clue that his whole life has been little
more than just a television program produced on a grand scale to produce the image of reality in a
dome. The Truman Show blends ethos, logos, and pathos together in a symphony of self discovery and
power over an adversary, whether physical or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ethos belongs to Christof, it is his character, allowing him to be the god. Truman is the veritable
Adam/Eve in Eden. When searching for self awareness and knowledge outside of the Garden, his
behavior is condemned by his God. Without Christof s undying credibility, he would not be allowed to
play God. Within the same scope of thinking, Truman has a limited amount of choices he can make.
This brings to light the true definition of free will and as to whether there is a true definition to be
heard. When given the choices only to walk left or walk right with the absence of the ability to stay
put, is choosing one of two inevitable ends really a choice empowered by free will? The logos
presented in the film rests with the true nature of Truman s free will, or lack thereof. In a scripted
world of thespians and set pieces, all with a certain purpose in mind, how can an individual exist with
free will? Truman has decisions thrust upon him and they are driven into him by the guilt he possesses
from the death of his father. When Truman confronts his mother with a desire to shake up the status
quo, to get out of his snow globe, he is tamed with the simple reminder that he is responsible for his
father s death. What s so elegant and beautiful about the sinister nature of it all is that it s hidden
within the context of a cleverly crafted conversation. A simple, I never blamed

Introduction
New Classical Macroeconomics arose from the Monetarism and Rational Expectation School in the
1970s and follows the tradition of classical economics. If the market mechanism is allowed to play its

economists believe that is a disequilibrium phenomenon. In 1960s, Keynesian economists appealed to
the Phillips curve, which means monetary or fiscal policy will lead to lower unemployment rate and

Liberal Muslim political organizations are against the idea of Jihad; they want to establish good
relations with other foreign countries based on respectful bonds that, among other things, will help in
the mutual development of economies and educational systems. The idea of Jihad will considered if a
real threat on their country already happened.
All non Muslims governments and parties in the world are against Jihad because they are likely to
become one of its targets and will lead to high civilian costs of life among the populations and the
degradation of civil rights that have been established. Since Jihad is affecting the whole world morally
and mentally, someone could ask Is Jihad ethical? Jihad could be examined by three philosophical
principles such as Natural Law, Utilitarianism and Categorical Imperative. In order to analyze Jihad
according to the three philosophical principles, a preview of each principle should be available.

Recruitment Of A Female Nurse
In the North attempts were made to organize nurses and in June 1861 Dorothea Dix was put in charge
of recruiting nurses for military hospitals, first in Washington and later other areas. Dix, like the rest of
society, had some very strong ideas about what a nurse should and shouldn t be and in a document
dated July 14, 1862 she specified those ideas. No candidate for service in the Women s Department for
nursing in the military hospitals of the United States, will be received below the age of thirty five
years, (35) nor above fifty. Only women of strong health, not subjects of chronic disease, nor liable to

In the field there were no regular hospitals, nurses cared for injured soldiers in railway cars, tents,
open fields, and abandoned buildings. They were like soldiers, they ate the same food, slept in tents,
endured rough weather, and came under fire from the enemy. Nurse Clara Barton was nearly shot on
the battlefield, a bullet sliced through her shirt sleeve before hitting and killing the soldier she was
caring for. Many of these nurses risked their lives, the Sisters of Mercy were known to run out on the
battle field when bullets were still flying. Nursing, whether in the field or in hospitals, was not easy
and it took a toll physically and emotionally, periodic furloughs were common and some had to resign.
Writer Louisa May Alcott had to resign her nursing position after becoming sick, she contracted
typhoid fever. These strong women experienced horrible things, but many refused to give up and they
saved countless lives. Which seems fitting, the main reason that women became nurses was their
desire to help. Did women act as spies and smugglers? There was another group of women who put
their lives and in many cases their reputations at risk to help during the war. These women worked as
spies, smugglers, couriers, and guides. As in other areas, the exact number of women that served in

Georgi A Unique Geographical Location That Distinguishes...
Georgia has a remarkable history however, in order to find out why one must look at the structure
under the society itself. Georgia has a unique geographical location that distinguishes it from other
countries. This country resides at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, in the Caucasus between the
Black and Caspian Seas, which has always influenced the culture. According to archaeological
excavations in the territory of Georgia there are the first hominids in Europe 1.8 million years ago. It
is believed that they were the first Europeans, and that Georgia is a country where they have spread to
other parts of Europe. 1 Georgia became home to the first Europeans settlers, and it didn t take long
before they started growing vineyards and wineries. Therefore,Georgia is considered the birthplace of
winemaking and, to this day, one can still find several dozen varieties of grapes and Georgia s popular
wine around the world. Nevertheless, Georgia became a country around 4 B.C. during the reign of
Queen Tamara (1184 1213). From the 16th century on, the country became the unwilling stage of a

protection from the Turks and Persians, 2 where it joined Azerbaijan and Armenia in 1917 and created

act and write as an expert of many different specializations where a diverse sort of narrative arises as a
result. His works are so diverse that Doreen Fernandez, when writing on Joaquin in the article Kilala

of his works Culture and History and A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino will be used to dissect his style

past theses will be used in tackling these topics.
The Eccentricities of Joaquin In Fernandez s article, she recounts her memories with Joaquin. The
article acted as a celebration of Joaquin s accomplishments and a celebration of his person. The article,
which in itself is an inside perspective on Joaquin s eccentricities, discusses the things about him that
could easily explain, if not give some justification, the unorthodox way of thinking that was prevalent
in his writing. Aside from his unorthodox way of thinking was his unorthodox way of writing. A point
that cannot be neglected when it comes to reading Joaquin is the language that he utilizes. Fernandez
quotes Joaquin directly when she writes, It seemed as the city itself, the Manila I knew, had been
invisible to our writers in English... These young writers could only see what the American language
saw. According to Doreen, Joaquin had seen the subject matter of his own work in English, therefore

Essay about Salvation by Langston Hughes
Salvation by Langston Hughes
Salvation , by Langston Hughes is part of an autobiographical work written in 1940. The author
narrates a story centering on a revival gathering that happened in his childhood. During the days
leading up to the event, Hughes aunt tells him repeatedly that he will be saved , stressing that he will
see a light and Jesus will come into his life. He attends the meeting but when Jesus fails to appear, he
is forced by peer pressure to lie and go up and be saved . Hughes uses his story to illustrate how easy
it is for children to misinterpret adults and subsequently become disillusioned.
Adults sometimes forget that children communicate on a much more literal level than they do; their
conversation is often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As time passed the congregation became more and more animated, wailing for Hughes to come up and
be saved. Hughes became more and more impatient and extremely agitated. At the same time he must
have been very curious as to why all the others were going up to the altar.
During childhood we begin to learn the meaning of integrity. Having patiently awaited Jesus?
appearance for what must have seemed an interminable amount of time, the pressure on Hughes to get
up and go to the altar must have been ponderous. Finally, when Jesus failed to make an appearance
that evening Hughes had a choice of continuing to wait or rising and satisfying the expectations of the
congregation. In making his decision to approach the altar, Hughes is fearful, as most children are
when disobeying the ?rules?. Hughes? reticence in coming forward probably reflects his type of up
bringing, and he watches his friend to see what punishment God will mete out and bases his decision
on the fact that nothing appears to happen. In embracing his friend Westley?s deception, in being
saved without seeing Jesus, and because of his own up bringing, Hughes had to acknowledge his own
dishonesty.
Children trust the words of adults and despite the misunderstanding associated with the words his aunt
used, Hughes believed her unquestionably. Later that evening when his aunt heard Hughes crying in
bed, she assumed it is because he had been moved by his experience at church in receiving

Michaelis-Menten Kinetics
Introduction:
Enzymes are biological macromolecule that acts as catalyst and speed up reaction by lowering the
activation energy of the chemical reaction without altering the thermodynamic of reaction
(study.com). However, the enzymes are not consumed in the reaction and they will regenerate
(study.com). According to rsc.org, enzymes have an active site. The reacting molecule that binds to
enzyme is called the substrate (rsc.org). Enzymes catalyze reactions by interacting with the substrate
and the subsequent transition state. These interactions release energy and therefore stabilize the
transition state, which ultimately lowers the activation energy of the reaction (rsc.org).
The purpose of this lab is to measure how an enzyme responds to the presence of an inhibitor in
various concentrations, and identify what type of inhibitor that involved. In this lab, we used the
Michaelis Menten Kinetic, which proposed by two scientists Leonor Michael and Maud Leonora
Menten for enzymatic dynamics. The model explains how reaction rate depends on the concentration
of substrate and enzyme (chemwiki.ucdavis.edu). In the reaction of an enzyme catalyzed, the enzyme
interacts with the substrate by binding to its active site to form the enzyme substrate complex, ES. The

Km is the Michaelis constant. It is the substrate concentration at which the reaction velocity is half of
the Vmax. [S] is the concentration of the substrate (Washington.edu). From the Michaelis Menten
Kinetic equation, we have many different ways to find Km and Vmax such as Lineweaver Burk plot,
Hanes Woolf plot, etc. However, this lab used the Lineweaver Burk plot. By taking the reciprocal of
the Michaelis Menten Kinetics equation, we can obtain the Lineweaver Burk double reciprocal plot,
which is a linear line (chemwiki.ucdavis.edu). This provides more precise way to determine Vmax and

Simplifying Expressions
While working on this problem I learned a lot about basic properties of addition and multiplication,
such as distributive property, inverse property, commutative properties, etc. What s common about
these problems is the order in which we are going to do the steps. The first step will always be to
remove the parenthesis, which uses the distributive property. Second will always be combining like
terms and adding related coefficients what we have been working on this week which is dealing with
real numbers.
Here is the solution to the first problem:
2a(a 5)+ 4(a 5)
=2aa+2a( 5)+4a 4⋅5
=2a^2 10a+4a 20
=2a^2 6a 20
The steps used to simplify this equation are as follows:
First I remove all of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I still have parentheses in the equation, they are only there to emphasize the negative
numbers.
20.05(0.3m+35n) 0.8( 0.09n 22m) =0.05⋅0.3m+0.05⋅35n 0.8⋅( 0.09n) 0.8⋅( 22m)
The second step is to figure out the correct coefficients:
0.05⋅0.3m+0.05⋅35n 0.8⋅( 0.09n) 0.8⋅( 22m)=0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m
The final step is to find the like terms and then combine them to obtain the simplified form:
0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m=17.615m+1.822n
The expression is now fully simplified to 17.615m+1.822n
In all three problems in this problem set, I learned how to simplify algebraic expressions using
distributive property and commutative property. In the second problem I used the inverse property of
addition. I noticed that the third problem was different from the first and second problems, in that in
the third problem there were no integer numbers. This whole section is about real numbers so this
problem set teaches us how to operate using both integer and non integer real

Persuasive Speech About Eating Breakfast
Breakfast is a good habit, but not the sooner the better
Since many people find it troublesome always eat breakfast very casual, so there is harm to the body,
but, oh, let s see what breakfast would endanger our bodies.

1. (Resource Demand) How do firms and individuals determine if it s worth it to (a) invest in capital
improvements, (b) hire additional workers, or (c) decide where to work? Briefly explain. Answer
Firms and individuals determine if it s worth it to invest in capital improvements when the marginal
product of capital is more than the interest paid on each unit of capital. Similarly, when the marginal
product of labor is more than the wage rate of each unit of labor, until then the firms and individuals
will keep on hiring additional workers. The individual will decide to work till the point where his
wage rate received is more than the tax rate paid. 2. (Shifts of Resource Demand) A local pizzeria

industrial unions and craft unions attempt to raise their members wages, but each goes about it
differently. Explain the difference in approaches and describe the impact these differences have on
excess quantity of labor supplied. Answer Craft unions have frequently forced employers to agree to
hire only union members, thereby gaining virtually complete control of the labor supply. Then, by
following restrictive membership policies such as limiting the number of new members getting
admitted, they artificially restrict labor supply. Therefore, by excluding workers from union and
therefore from the labor supply, crafts union succeed in elevating wage rates. An industrial union that
includes virtually all available workers in its membership can put firms under great pressure to agree
to its wage demands. Because of its legal right to strike, such a union can threaten to deprive firms of
their entire labour supply, and an actual strike can do just that. 9. Why do you think the role of the
unions in the US has declined over the years? Briefly discuss. Answer The role of labor unions in the
U.S has declined over the years because of strong government policies, unfavorable working and law
environment for labors, increased labor hostility, and high levels of unfair labor practices. The Taft

Repositioning
Repositioning of patients prone to pressure sores refers to turning these patients in order to promote
aeration and prevent excessive pressure being exerted on one body part for a long time. Research has
demonstrated that turning of these patients every 4 hours with foam mattresses developed from visco
elastic polyurethane has superiority in outcome compared with lack of turning of these patients. The
same research indicated that turning these patients every 4 hours has better outcome in reducing risk
of grade 1 and grade 2 bed sores than turning them once daily on the same foam mattresses. This 4
hour turning schedule also has been shown to have little significant results compared a 2 hour turning
schedule on the foam mattresses made of visco elastic polyurethane (Vanderwee, Grypdonck, De,
Defloor, 2007). Nursing interventions in repositioning of these bedridden patients include occasional
turning of these patients from one side to the next. The basis for this is to facilitate air circulation and

Psychodynamic Personality Theories
Introduction:
Personality is something every living, and mentally functioning human member of society has. Our
personalities are made up of our behaviours and the way in which we think, feel and act no two people
are exactly alike in personality. (Fletcher and Garton, 2015).
Personality plays a major role in psychology as it is constantly being talked about in terms of
developing it, measuring it and how it can influence the way we interact with others.
Theorists have identified different traits and characteristics as a way to categorise different personality
types. Within psychology there is three theories relating to Personality; humanistic, psychodynamic
and trait. These perspectives were developed by different psychological theorists, in which this
presentation we ll attempt to draw further into. In particular, this presentation will focus on humanistic
and psychodynamic personality perspectives. (Fletcher and Garton, 2015)
Theory 1: Freud s Psychodynamic View
Psychodynamics is one of the three major personality perspectives and leads people to believe that
human thoughts, feelings and actions are caused by a relationship between three elements of the mind
the id, the ego and the super ego. Our minds are divided into three levels, conscious awareness,
preconscious awareness and unconscious awareness. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

idea of laying on couch and talking to a psychologist about one s mental health comes from Freud s
famous couch and his use of analysing behaviour. Freud is one of the leading theorists of
psychodynamics and had one of the major inputs into the ideas it was based on. (McLeod,

counterculture of the 1920s. During this time, Ginsberg was raised in the midst of a number of
progressive political perspectives that would later influence how he viewed life as a whole and also
influence his work. Ginsberg s mother was a supporter of the Communist party. With that, she was a

Ginsberg witnessed his mother s insanity first hand while growing up causing it to have a major
impact on his own views. Ginsberg also developed a certain sense of connection with people dealing
with such issues and was able to tolerate it at such a level. In his adolescent years, Ginsberg greatly

The Agricultural Revolution had an enormous impact on Europe, particularly in England and the
Netherlands. There were many ideas of how to improve agriculture and eliminate subsistence living. A
few key individuals paved the way for the agricultural revolution. These people included Viscount
Charles Townsend, Jethro Tull and Cornelius Vermuyden. The aforementioned individuals developed
ideas that were crucial to the Agricultural revolution. The essential components of the Agricultural

For example, Copernicus revolutionized new outlooks by introducing a heliocentric view, this was

Essay about Sociology
Much research on helping behaviour can be criticised as being ethnocentric, conducted in the USA
alone. Thus, the studies are rather limited in terms of the lack of variety in the people studied. Latane
and Darley were the first to systematically investigate the circumstances under which bystander s
are/are not likely to intervene to help others, and promote pro social behaviour. However, we must be
cautious not to generalise the findings to other cultures. We cannot assume that the same
circumstances apply equally to any human population. The tendency to make this assumption is
something we need to be very aware of when drawing broad conclusions regarding pro social
behaviour from a limited sample. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In collectivistic cultures, such as China, Japan and some other Asian countries, individual wishes are
seen as less important than the well being of the group. It might therefore be expected that pro social
behaviour would be more apparent in collectivistic cultures.
Cultural perspectives on pro social behaviour place it within a much larger moral system that binds
people together in social relationships (Miller and Bersoff, 1994). An example of the role that pro
social behaviour, or specifically helping behaviour, plays in the establishment of social relationships
can be found in the Chinese custom of doing favours for people (Moghaddam, 1998)
Eisenburg and Mussen (1989) conducted cross cultural research into children s pro social behaviour to
examine this notion further. It was found that North American children were less kind, considerable
and co operative than children who had grown up in Mexican villages, Hopi children reared on Indian
reservations or Israeli children reared in kibbutzim. Thus, the findings suggest that there is a
relationship between the type of culture within which children grow up and the degree of pro social
behaviour they show. Children reared within a collectivistic culture tend to show more pro social
behaviour than those reared in an individualistic culture.

Alliteration In Hard Rock Returns To Prison
Knight s experience in life lends a unique hand about his work that makes it worthwhile. His
experienced a lack of education, yet he rises to become a great poet. He was surrounded by dying in
the war, but drugs resurrected him. His hope died in 1960 when he received a prison sentence, but,
poetry brought him back to life. Even in his words about himself describing himself as poetic, the
author uses various techniques to bring Hard Rock Returns to Prison alive. One of the methods he
uses in writing is alliteration, by using the repetition of Hard Rock s name throughout the poem,
persuading the reader not to forget, about the mistreatment of a human being, almost to the point of
having to remember that Hard Rock was indeed a prisoner. Imagery was another device used in
Knight s writing. He uses the image of a stallion preparing to be let loose from a cage only to find the
stallion is already free. He uses the first person as the main speaker of the narrative as the other
prisoners who admired the hero/prisoner. As well as, jargon used by the black prisoners, for instance,
Hard Rock! Man, that s one crazy nigger. (p.261) Although Knight s mood in the piece is grim, he still
adds a humorous side to the poem, for example, The testing came, to see if Hard Rock was tame/A

Law Of Precedent Essay
Law of Precedent
One of the major considerations on how someone is tried in a court of law depends upon the previous
convictions of similar cases. This law of precedent (stare decisis) was founded hundreds of years ago
as part of our common law. The literal translation of stare decisis is quot;that like cases be decided
alike. quot; Precedents in law play a fundamental role in the judicial processes of Canada. From
stealing a loaf of bread ranging to murder in the first degree, there are precedents for any type of case
that has ever occurred in Canada, and even many cases from Britain (prior to 1949 and the
abolishment of the JCPC). Unfortunately, the law of precedent does have its downfalls.

Unfortunately, sexual harassment at the workplace is going too far. It used to be a threat of one s job in

about an employee s sexual status is de emed as sexual harassment.
There are problems with old laws and precedents that may need to be rectified. Previous decisions by
judges do not necessarily embody the law. Here is where a judge s duty is to apply the law, not another
justice s determination of it. quot; The law and the opinion of the judge may not always be one and the
same. quot; For judges, it is important to correct any precedent that is now viewed as a mistake.
Making sure that precedents are kept quot;in check quot; is a vital role of the courts.
The second case of changing precedent is that of court sentencing and decision making. This part of
stare decisis troubles many people along with myself for a good reason, court cases are getting out of

Romeo And Juliet Balcony Scene Analysis
The balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet is a well remembered scene in Romeo and Juliet. Although,
there are different versions of it in different movies and plays. I m comparing the balcony scene
between the original script and the 1997 movie. There are a lot of differences, with not as many
similarities. It seems as a more modern day version... There are some key details in both the movie
and the script. Some key details in the play are that Romeo hides in the darkness, and that he is
stalking Juliet in a way. It also takes place on a balcony near the streets, [Seeing Juliet enter above on
a balcony] (Act II Scene 2, Page 71) which is a lot more in older days than modern. In the movie
version, some key details are that Romeo is hidden on a vine, not so much hidden though.(You can see
in the 1997 movie, Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann.) The setting is also on a deck and a
pool. Those are some of the key details you will need to know. Now, I will explain the differences
between the original script and the movie. One pretty noticable difference is that the setting is a lot
different. In the script, the setting is on the balcony, and is definitely a way less modern version,
almost like a cliche love scene. In the 1997 movie, the setting isn t even on a balcony, it is on a back
porch with a pool. This takes away the whole cliche love scene in the original script, and as I feel
takes away some of the meaning of the original. It also is a lot more modern, because there aren t as
many balconies in modern day houses now, which makes sense why the didn t put one, therefore it is
an older and more modern day version. Another big difference between the two is that in the script,
they don t have a pool that they jump into and kiss, but in the 1997 movie they do. Romeo and Juliet
go into the pool together and kiss, when in the script they talk from a distance and then meet at her
balcony. I think they did this also because it was made to be more modern, but they kept more of the
cliche love scene. The last difference I will talk about is in the script, romeo hides in the darkness
unseen, I have the darkness to hide me from their eyes... (Act II Scene 2, page 75) while Juliet walks

Causes Of The Monarch Butterfly
So are we just going to ignore the fact that Monarch Butterflies are in trouble? We re just going to
ignore the fact that we could easily help, but we choose not to?The monarch butterfly is an insect that
relies their life on milkweed plants and is currently facing the problem of milkweed declining, but it
can be solved by planting milkweeds causing the butterfly population to increase rapidly.
The Monarch Butterfly is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It s the most common
butterfly in North America , and is considered an iconic pollinator species .(Conserving Monarch
butterflies And their habitats). The Monarch Butterflies have many nicknames such as, milkweed,
common tiger, wanderer and black veined brown (Danaus).
The Monarch Butterfly s life cycle has four stages, it begins with the egg, the caterpillar, the pupa, and
then it emerges into an Adult butterfly. The female adult monarch butterfly mates with a male butterfly,
and later lays its eggs specifically on a milkweed plant. After the eggs hatch, they turn into larva. The
larva then spins a silky mat which turns into a chrysalis. Finally, the larva merges into an adult
monarch butterfly.
The monarch butterflies differ in migration than the any other species that migrate as well. The reason
why the monarchs are different than other species is that they later come back to their previous winter
location while other species stay.Monarch Butterflies migrate over 300,000 miles, for they can not
stand the harsh cold temperatures. Every fall, they come from northern United States of America and
migrate to southern United States of America, and at times they migrate all the way down to Mexico.
Since monarch butterflies have a complicated life cycle (Migration) monarchs that have emerged in
the winter do not yet reproduce until they re in the summer or spring season. On the other hand,
monarch butterflies that are emerged in the summer or springtime reproduce rapidly. In addition, it s
important for the monarchs to know when they have to migrate to the south and back to the winter.
Sadly, the monarch butterflies are drastically decreasing due to the fact that the plant they need to
survive, the milkweed plant, is slowly but surely diminishing.

Theme Of Fog In Long Day s Journey Into Night
What Fog Represents in Long Day s Journey into Night?
Long Day s Journey into Night is a semi autobiographical story written by Eugene O Neill roughly on
1941 1942. The play concerns the Tyrone family which were composed of parents James and Mary
and their sons Jamie and Edmund. Mary and Jamie were each addicted to morphine and alcohol,
respectively. The story deals with the family s addiction to whiskey, the father parsimony, the mother s
addiction to morphine, and the younger son s illness. Resentment, blame, and accusation were
expressed all the times by the family members for not taking responsibility and running away from the
reality. The long journey that the title of the play referred to was actually a journey into the past. A ...

When Mary was talking to her daughter Cathleen on act three, she said It s the foghorn I hate. It won t
let you alone. It keeps reminding you, and warning you, and calling you back. The foghorn was
obnoxious and harsh to Mary, and that is why she did not like it.
Another example that explains that the metaphor fog, in this play, represented the lost or confusion life
is Edmund s expression. Edmund indicated the idea that the fog was a flee from reality when he said,
The fog is where I wanted to be. Edmund experienced his retreat into the fog with the help of alcohol
so did Mary with the morphine. Edmund s lost, confusion, and the disconnected from the environment
were explicitly shown from his feeling. However, his family could not read what he was experiencing
because all of them were either drunk or on drugs like his mother. Moreover, Edmund used the sea and
fog as metaphors of how close he feels to his loneliness. He said, As if I was a ghost belonging to the
fog, and the fig was the ghost of the sea. It felt to damned peaceful to be nothing more than the ghost
within the ghost. (Act fourth, O Neill)
The father was partly blamed of all the crisis that the family had. Tyrone thought that whiskey was
used as medicine. In the play, Tyrone gave his ill sons Edmund a whiskey as a tonic for his
tuberculosis disease. Due to Tyrone s ancestor, that whiskey was something used like water, Tyrone
believed that it was true and he

Descriptive Essay About Losing A Pet
Among the saddest truths about this lifetime is this: A dog s life is significantly shorter than a human s
life. I said goodbye to my beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Samson, on March 26th, 2017. He was ten
years old. It is an opinion to say that losing a pet is like losing a member of the family. The fact is,
though, it is an understatement. Dogs are unique in their own ways. As it is said, Grief is the price you
pay for love. And I paid a heavy priced that day. It is unbelievable how we take things for granted.
Plans are made for each day, and we do not think twice about those plans. Unfortunately, they can
change in the blink of an eye. I never personally thought much about it, until I was faced with the
shock and tragedy of the death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pam Brown once said, If there is a heaven, it is certain our animals are to be there. Their lives become
so interwoven with our own than an archangel to detangle them (Brown,n.d.). He is now buried in our
backyard with his own stone with the words, You may have left my life, but you will never leave my
heart engraved. We received many sympathy cards, but it did not make the situation any better.
However, it was nice to know my friends and family cared. It was the saddest time in my life. Not a
day goes by that I do not think about him. It is very tough to not break down when I think or talk
about him. He was a special boy. For the longest time, there was a void feeling in my house. A hole
was left in my family s hearts. I knew Samson would have wanted me to give his doggie bed and
squeak toys to another deserving dog. He had a wet nose and a huge heart. Once, in the first week
following his passing, I came through my front door and looked at the area where he would usually be
sitting or lying. I called for him with the foolish notation that he would appear and come running to
me. But of course, he did not. Then, I walked past his empty food bowls and tears started running
down my face. It was a shattering reminder that he was gone and never coming back. Grief was
exhausting and painful to say the least. The day after Samson died, I could not drag myself out of bed.
I missed school that day. I could not bear the feeling of coming home, and him not waiting for me

Shabazz s Accomplishments
At that time we worked for the NYC summer youth programs. Our job was to clean Lincoln Terrace
Park, clear trash and moving of debris. With little of nothing to do, the Gods held ciphers for building,
and a show of 52 hand skills. One day after work we were walking home, when I asked one of the
Black Gods (Shabazz) about the fighting arts and that I wanted to create my own style; he said, The
Father Allah said, With Mathematics all things are possible. As he continued building with me we
were stopped, by a small parade of black cadets, they was marching an aerodynamic plane through the
streets (Eastern Parkway) of Brooklyn, and it was an awe inspiring sight. It was clear the cadets had
built it from knowledge (the ground up). It was at that moment, that I believed what Shabazz had said
only minutes earlier; that With mathematics all things are possible. Shabazz said, See God, now that s
the Supreme Mathematics. (I was also instructed, by one of the US Navy s (1942) first recruits of
black officers, my Grand Uncle, Sonny Seal Green and learned fighting ... Show more content on

Effective Methods Of Becoming A Paperless Organization
Being ecofriendly has become a target for most hospitality related fields. Increasingly, consumers
have become aware of the impact of unsustainable business practices that, many argue, contribute to
global warming and harm nature. It has even become a criterion that refines a search for hotels and
hence many hotels are trying to alter their business practices, by making them more ecofriendly.
Going paperless means that an organization decides to stop using so many printed items and would
rather opt for an electronic version. Whether that is a receipt you get from a restaurant or an invoice
from a hotel it is all sent via email. Some hotels and restaurants in the hospitality industry have found
alternative techniques, as opposed to using paper. This essay will examine different methods used by
certain organizations, which have been proven as effective methods of becoming a paperless
organization. These include The Hilton hotels and even more specifically, The Waldorf Astoria. In
terms of restaurants, El Monumento is a privately owned restaurant in Texas, that employ s paperless
services. Furthermore, the large franchise, Chilis offers some paperless services as a way of improving
their service. The reasons these companies decided to go paperless will be highlighted within this
essay. When it comes to leaving behind the old tradition of printing everything, some owners may be
skeptical. Go Paperless Solutions Inc. is an organization who s motto is hi tech company

Democracy in America Today
Democracy in America Today
Pos/110
October 16, 2011
Final Project: Democracy in America Since the beginning of American Democracy it has been
morphed from the founder s format. With all its changes, it still functions as a well constructed form
of democracy that supports our nation. American democracy has both strengths and weaknesses.
Government spending or over spending is a core issue facing our nation in these economically
troubled times. There are many points to be addressed regarding American government today.
Adjustments within American democracy have caused us to land in our current situation of economic
uncertainty. Some of these developments have actually had a negative impact on democracy and the
people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Constitution is at risk of being overrun in our current political climate. The gap between the rich
and poor in American society had been narrowed during the last 50 years of the last century. It has
been widened during the past decade and threatens our social stability. Many people like to say that
America is a place of equality and opportunity. In my opinion, it is still a place of disparity and
inequality. The most basic element of our democratic process that should be its greatest strength has
become our greatest weakness. This is a great issue among those in our society who cannot find access
to services or opportunity and is swept under the rug by those members of our society who have been
able to find a way to succeed inside the system. A new type of inequality has crept over us in the
recent past. It is the way in which government shows bias to one group of citizens over another. These
economic disparities strengthen the cause of those who have against those who do not have. They
relate specifically to the unequal distribution of resources, education and income potential. Those
members of our society who have been minimized have much less political voice and therefore can
expect to continue to receive less in the way of equal treatment and equal access to services and
education. Reviewing the Constitution and American Democracy based on what I have learned in this
course, I find that the Bill of

Mary Shelly s Elopement In Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s father, William Godwin, is also considered to be a monster . When Mary
Wollstonecraft, Mary Shelley s mother, passed away, Godwin was to take care of Mary. He, alongside
his second wife, Mary Jane Clairmont, decided that Mary Shelley did not an education. When Mary
Shelley ran away with Percy Shelley, a 21 year old man already married, her father strongly
disapproved. He disapproval continued and increased when the two eventually eloped in 1816.
Godwin had been horrified by Mary s elopement with Percy Shelley, and for two and a half years, he
had rigidly refused to see or correspond with her (Mellor). Even when Mary fell into a depression over
the death of her children, Godwin refused. Godwin s behavior tormented Mary, who ... Show more

consider Mary Shelley s mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, and her father, William Godwin to be the actual
villains. Victor is a monster for creating the creature and subsequently abandoning it. Victor had an
infatuation with wanting to play God, most likely inspired by the many alchemists of the time. As
soon as the creature breathed his first breath, Victor hated and was disgusted by it. The creature never
was able to experience the love and affection he so deserved. It was because of this that the creature
did some negative actions. They were in response to feeling unloved. The creature can be considered
the monster because he kills William. He justified killing William by acknowledging that William had
taunted him and the creature only did it when realized that William was related to Victor, the man that
abandoned and made him feel ugly. Both Victor and William were apart of a society that was close
minded. They didn t appreciate anyone being different. When the creature made attempts to participate
in society, he was pushed away and forced to live in the outdoors. He was forced to learn the ways of
the world without the guidance of parents. Society is the monster for being shallow and unaccepting
towards different people. The lack of any maternal figures

Essay about Compact Flourescent Lamp and the Environment
Compact Flourescent Lamp and the Environment
Abstract
Technological advances have come a long way since the incandescent light bulb. Today, the compact
fluorescent lamp (CFL) is the most energy efficient light bulb on the market. In the beginning,
consumers had resistance toward the CFL. With governmental support in establishing energy efficient
lighting programs, the CFL have been able to stay in the market and improve throughout the years.
Introduction
With the advances in technology today, we are able to produce a variety of energy efficient products,
one of which is the compact fluorescent lamp (CFL). Having come a long way from the energy
absorbing incandescents, CFL is clearly the choice for the future. CFLs ... Show more content on

(Rigdon and Wadman, 1992). One must wonder why this new and improved technology is left in the
dark and why the resistance to the CFL?
Historical Significance
The incandescent light bulbs dates back to Thomas Edison s 1879 design which was a marvelous
invention for the 19th Century. The incandescent light bulb heats a filament by electric resistance
inside a sealed glass globe and makes the thin tungsten wire glow white hot (Luoma, 1991). The
incandescent blub is very inefficient because only 10% of the electricity flowing into the filament
becomes light and the remaining nine tenths is lost at heat (Luoma, 1991). A standard blub is hot to the
touch because it expends more than 90% of the electrical energy keeping its tungsten filament hot
enough to glow (Roodman, 1993).
A more advanced alternative to the standard incandescent light bulb is the CFL. Fluorescent tubes,
developed in the 1930 s, utilize a chemical physical process involving the ionization of argon gas
(Luoma, 1991). The fluorescent bulbs use one fifth to one third as much electricity to deliver the same
number of lumens as conventional incandescent light bulbs (Petrowski, 1995). However, fluorescent s
adaptability to everyday household lamps have been hampered by the bulkiness of its long tubes and
by problems with flickering and unpleasant light. With

They are all from ASX 100.
BHP is a leading global resources company and one of the world s largest mining companies (BHP
2014). CBA is an Australian multinational bank providing various financial services in New Zealand,
Fiji, Asia and the United Kingdom (CBA 2014). TLS is Australia s largest telecommunications and
media company, and it offers a full range of communications services (TLS 2014). Based on above
information, these three companies are from different industries.
2. Determination of individual stock expected returns and standard deviations
2.1 The choice of data
The 2008 global financial crisis (GFC) (Shah 2009, p. 25) has caused the share prices of BHP, CBA
and TLS to drop rapidly from 2008 to 2009, apparent from the 10 year historical data of the three
companies share price (Appendix 1). This shows that the all three companies share prices are
influenced by the GFC, which means the GFC has the similar result in the calculation of three stocks
expected return. Hence, the data from that period are included in the data choice.
The 10 year, monthly historical raw data of the stocks closing prices and dividends are obtained from
Yahoo Finance (2015). The closing price is chosen for calculation purposes, as the closing price of the

Reasons To Visit Venice Essay
The first time I visited Venice, it stole my heart. Recently, I was able to visit for the second time and
loved it even more.
Here are a few reasons to visit Venice, the city known as the Queen of the Adriatic:
1. To see the canals, including the Grand Canal and bridges. See both the majestic Grand Canal with
famous Rialto Bridge, as well as smaller canals in the more intimate residential neighborhoods, to get
a feel for this remarkable city.
2. For the atmosphere of beauty and romance. The architecture and grandeur of Venice is striking, and
the city is picturesque at any time of day.
3. To wander the narrow streets and maybe feel a little lost in time. In a city with a long and legendary
past, it is easy to savor the history. Venice served as a center of commerce for ... Show more content

The main sights, including St. Mark s Square, get crowded during the day. We experienced a calmer
Venice in the early morning and evening hours when the cruise ships weren t in port. We were told
that Venice is a city of about 60,000, with millions of visitors each year. Of course, many tourist cities
are packed with sightseers, so I just expect crowds.
Another complaint I ve heard focuses on the lovely canals themselves; the reality is that the water can
have an unpleasant smell. My visits have been during late October and mid June. In both cases, I
noticed it a couple of times, but it did not detract from my experience. There are disagreeable smells in
other big cities.
On my first visit to Venice about two years ago, I also thought at first that many buildings needed
some paint and repairs. The city can look a little rough around the edges. But that could be seen as part
of its charm. It is not perfectly polished. It is an ancient city, built improbably on 118 small islands in
a lagoon and sieged daily by sea tides.

Examples Of Flattery In Julius Caesar
One of the themes from Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is that power and flattery can affect
people and what they believe. It is discovered in Act I of Julius Caesar that Caesar himself is in a

, it is perform d. (sic) Julius Caesar s power was able to control lives of those around him in such a
way that it put fear into certain people. As the plot of Julius Caesar thickens, his power inevitably led
to his downfall. In Act II and Act III , Brutus had his own sense of power such that others respected
him and accepted the way he did things, such as plot against Caesar. Brutus used respective power in

The Main Problems in Fallen Societies
Societies fall due to three main problems, corrupt government, unemployment, and lack of freedom
for citizens. So many things have fallen from grace, including society, I say it as a whole and not a
plural due to the general rule that every society falls at some point. In a few sentences, describe what
your entire essay will be about. You should state the three reasons why great civilizations and societies
fall. There are three main reasons, all stemming from that fact that humans destroy what they build, all
in good time to the proximity of the original building of that particular society, some societies hold on
longer than others, and some disappear almost the same day they were built, everything s different, but
every fallen societies have suffered from the plague that is corrupt government, unemployment, and
lack of freedoms. So many things have fallen from grace, including society, I say it as a whole and not

wondrous, and wealthy societies crumble in the metaphorical palm of the universe? There are three
main reasons, all stemming from that fact that humans destroy what they build, all in good time to the

  • 2. When Was Peter Pan Banned Peter Pan made a choice to ban anyone who grew older. Since Peter Pan made the decision to banish all of his followers who grew older, this caused the boys to grow disgust for Pan himself. Peter Pan made a terrible choice banishing all the boys to No Where Land where they would be shunned forever and called the Roarers. Peter Pan has the biggest problem in the story because on one adventure, Peter and his League of Explorers found the Jolly Rodger. As he and his league explored James Hook s uninhabited ship of 20+ years, Peter found and put on Hook s second best coat. Peter Pan began wearing many of the Captain s clothing. In Neverland, when you wore somebody s clothing you became them, so Peter was slowly turning into his worst enemy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This friend would need to be filled with kindness and love since Captain Hook is full of hatred and evil. I feel if Hook had a friend, he would not be evil, but he would be kind and see the nice side of everything and everyone. A good relationship would have trust, love, and kindness. An example would be the relationship of Tootles and Peter. Tootles loves Peter with all her heart, and she would do anything for him. This book does have bias, such as the fairy war and the questions they asked the explorers. Another would be who Ravello really was and those who came to Neverland. There are two moments when I disagreed with the author, such as making Ravello a whole new character, when he was someone else we already knew. Another would be what happened to Hook at the end of the story, the author could have left room for another sequel. I think this book is meant to grab attention of anyone from teens to adults, this is because of the foul language and death in the book; however, it would grab almost anyone s attention. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read, and loves fictional, fantasy, and sci fi books. I would not, however, recommend it to history lovers who want facts and ... The first couple of paragraphs interprets the meaning of the witches dramatic role in this creative work. In addition, fate was symbolized in a human and nonhuman form a persuasive psychological reality of their own , according to Gaber. She also strongly suggests that equivocation is the running theme throughout the play. Garber s idea that Shakespeare s had the ability to bring forth ambiguity while connecting the plot emulating real events during Queen Elizabeth and King James I reign in the 17th Century through figurative language. In another article, written by Anthony Cappo named, The Scary Connection between Donald Trump s Campaign and Macbeth. According to the article there are similarities that the audience can historically compare to Shakespeare s literary character (2016). The temperament, rampant narcissism, and all past bad behavior (2016) is what he suggests Trump encompasses and is comparable to Macbeth characteristics as well. • 7. Music In American Schools For most American children, music class was considered one of the most exciting times of the school day. Music class was treated as a break from the normal curriculum of reading, math, science, and social studies. Music has been included in most American schools for several decades. However, due to budget cuts, our school district is eliminating the music program for the next school year. I feel that cutting extracurricular activities, such as sports and music, would be detrimental to our students. Students who are exposed to music develop many skills that can be used in their daily lives. Some of these skills include self discipline, teamwork, and building self esteem. • 8. Justin s First Apology Analysis 1. Introduction Second century philosopher, Justin Martyr grew up in Flavia Neapolis, Palestine, a city near the ancient ruins of Shechem. The population of Shechem is thought to be of Samaritan descent, as was Justin. However, he did not belong to an ethnic group associated with pagan theology. Instead, Justin devoted his life to the pursuit of Christ by means of philosophy. Thus, Justin contributed to Christian education through his understanding of the logos and his apologies. 2. Educational Background He mentioned being brought up in a Gentile culture, having a Greek education, and being uncircumcised. Consequently, he remained unaware of Moses and the prophets until later in life. Furthermore, he associated himself with the Gentiles, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many scholars have criticized the organization of Justin s First Apology, though, Justin and several others used the apology as an apologetic tool or teaching material within catechetical schools. Thus, the text could have been modified or rearranged to fit the specific needs of the academic context. In fact, Minns and Parvis claim the text contains later glosses, and accidental transpositions of material. However, despite the modifications made to the text, the Apology contains a logical progression of thought. The Apology followed an ancient format used for speech: the exordium, or introduction; the narratio, or statement of fact; the confirmatio, or proof of fact; the refutio, or rebuttal against opposing views; and the peroratio, or conclusion. Many classic authors employ the exordium to gain the favor of the recipient. However, Justin employed it to determine whether they deserved their advantageous titles, pious and philosopher. Then, Justin employed the narratio to give reasons for his treatise. Next, the confirmatio and refutio contain most the text. Justin elaborates on the unreasonableness of Christian persecution on the mere basis of identifying with the Christian faith. Continuing under the premise of Christianity s derelict nature, Justin argued for Christianity s uniqueness in regards to monotheism. Furthermore, Justin argued for Christians being good members of the community. Finally, after Justin s elaboration, he concluded his first apology by claiming the validity of Christ s claims are proven by the fulfillment of his prophecies, and that Christian s employed rational reasoning by worshipping Christ ... • 10. A Taste Of Power By Elaine Brown A Taste of Power was written by Elaine Brown who grew up in a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia and sensed what it meant to be black people, female, and poor American. Elaine Brown described her experiences as a woman in the inner circle of the Central Committee. In contrast to the black men s narratives of their experiences, Elaine Brown points up defects of the revolutionary vanguard. The Black Panther Party s buildings of a revolution were actually self righteous; a revolution without the liberation of Black women from patriarchy would never lead to equality for all. Brown acknowledged, like many other women in the Black Panther Party that systems of racial and classist oppression were indeed intertwined with sexism. Though this lens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Newton envisioned the Black Panther Party leading would never be realized. An important theme in Elaine Brown s book is the pervasive gender inequality within the party. Many panther women would agree with Brown on gender inequality, as it was pervasive in many if not all panther chapters. In addition, she highlights what she thought were causes of the fall of the party, and the changing platform, which she takes much credit for. Other panther members have addressed these issues as well. There seems to be some disagreement on what ultimately caused the demise of such an iconic force, and Brown attempts to piece together the many reasons. Brown had the large task of combating sexism as well as handling Central Committee conflicts that caused division in the party. She describes the way state sanctioned violence killed many beloved Panther members, the inter Panther conflict that caused international tensions to rise and because of her intimate love connection to Huey Newton also provides a candid view into his mindset. Brown dealt with these conflicts, which at times seemed unresolvable and eventually left the Black Panther Party after many years of faithful service. Prior to Brown s assignment as chairman, one could look at the Central Committee of the Black Panther Party and safely assume that testosterone was a pre requisite for revolution. • 12. Rhetorical Analysis of The Truman Show What I aim to do with this rhetorical analysis is bring forth to the reader a deeply immersive look at the rhetorical concepts present in the film The Truman Show. It is important for a viewer to fully understand the underlying messages and subtle undertones in between the lines, so to speak. The Truman Show is one man s life being played out in a closed environment for the entertainment of the outside world. Most important to note, Truman Burbank has no clue that his whole life has been little more than just a television program produced on a grand scale to produce the image of reality in a dome. The ethos belongs to Christof, it is his character, allowing him to be the god. Truman is the veritable Adam/Eve in Eden. When searching for self awareness and knowledge outside of the Garden, his behavior is condemned by his God. Without Christof s undying credibility, he would not be allowed to play God. Within the same scope of thinking, Truman has a limited amount of choices he can make. This brings to light the true definition of free will and as to whether there is a true definition to be heard. When given the choices only to walk left or walk right with the absence of the ability to stay put, is choosing one of two inevitable ends really a choice empowered by free will? The logos presented in the film rests with the true nature of Truman s free will, or lack thereof. In a scripted world of thespians and set pieces, all with a certain purpose in mind, how can an individual exist with free will? Truman has decisions thrust upon him and they are driven into him by the guilt he possesses from the death of his father. When Truman confronts his mother with a desire to shake up the status quo, to get out of his snow globe, he is tamed with the simple reminder that he is responsible for his father s death. Having patiently awaited Jesus? appearance for what must have seemed an interminable amount of time, the pressure on Hughes to get up and go to the altar must have been ponderous. • 21. Michaelis-Menten Kinetics Introduction: Enzymes are biological macromolecule that acts as catalyst and speed up reaction by lowering the activation energy of the chemical reaction without altering the thermodynamic of reaction (study.com). However, the enzymes are not consumed in the reaction and they will regenerate (study.com). According to rsc.org, enzymes have an active site. The reacting molecule that binds to enzyme is called the substrate (rsc.org). Enzymes catalyze reactions by interacting with the substrate and the subsequent transition state. These interactions release energy and therefore stabilize the transition state, which ultimately lowers the activation energy of the reaction (rsc.org). The purpose of this lab is to measure how an enzyme responds to the presence of an inhibitor in various concentrations, and identify what type of inhibitor that involved. In this lab, we used the Michaelis Menten Kinetic, which proposed by two scientists Leonor Michael and Maud Leonora Menten for enzymatic dynamics. The model explains how reaction rate depends on the concentration of substrate and enzyme (chemwiki.ucdavis.edu). Answer Craft unions have frequently forced employers to agree to hire only union members, thereby gaining virtually complete control of the labor supply. Then, by following restrictive membership policies such as limiting the number of new members getting admitted, they artificially restrict labor supply. Therefore, by excluding workers from union and therefore from the labor supply, crafts union succeed in elevating wage rates. During the Scientific Revolution there were many changes in people s way of thinking. For example, Copernicus revolutionized new outlooks by introducing a heliocentric view, this was later solidified as true by Johannes Kepler. Kepler proved Copernicus views by establishing the 3 Laws of Planetary Motion. Another great scholar of the Scientific Revolution was Galileo Galilei who challenged ideas regarding motion. • 33. Essay about Sociology Much research on helping behaviour can be criticised as being ethnocentric, conducted in the USA alone. Thus, the studies are rather limited in terms of the lack of variety in the people studied. Latane and Darley were the first to systematically investigate the circumstances under which bystander s are/are not likely to intervene to help others, and promote pro social behaviour. However, we must be cautious not to generalise the findings to other cultures. We cannot assume that the same circumstances apply equally to any human population. The tendency to make this assumption is something we need to be very aware of when drawing broad conclusions regarding pro social behaviour from a limited sample. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In collectivistic cultures, such as China, Japan and some other Asian countries, individual wishes are seen as less important than the well being of the group. It might therefore be expected that pro social behaviour would be more apparent in collectivistic cultures. Cultural perspectives on pro social behaviour place it within a much larger moral system that binds people together in social relationships (Miller and Bersoff, 1994). An example of the role that pro social behaviour, or specifically helping behaviour, plays in the establishment of social relationships can be found in the Chinese custom of doing favours for people (Moghaddam, 1998) Eisenburg and Mussen (1989) conducted cross cultural research into children s pro social behaviour to examine this notion further. It was found that North American children were less kind, considerable and co operative than children who had grown up in Mexican villages, Hopi children reared on Indian reservations or Israeli children reared in kibbutzim. Thus, the findings suggest that there is a relationship between the type of culture within which children grow up and the degree of pro social behaviour they show. Children reared within a collectivistic culture tend to show more pro social behaviour than those reared in an individualistic culture. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His experienced a lack of education, yet he rises to become a great poet. He was surrounded by dying in the war, but drugs resurrected him. His hope died in 1960 when he received a prison sentence, but, poetry brought him back to life. Even in his words about himself describing himself as poetic, the author uses various techniques to bring Hard Rock Returns to Prison alive. One of the methods he uses in writing is alliteration, by using the repetition of Hard Rock s name throughout the poem, persuading the reader not to forget, about the mistreatment of a human being, almost to the point of having to remember that Hard Rock was indeed a prisoner. Imagery was another device used in Knight s writing. He uses the image of a stallion preparing to be let loose from a cage only to find the stallion is already free. He uses the first person as the main speaker of the narrative as the other prisoners who admired the hero/prisoner. As well as, jargon used by the black prisoners, for instance, Hard Rock! Man, that s one crazy nigger. (p.261) Although Knight s mood in the piece is grim, he still adds a humorous side to the poem, for example, The testing came, to see if Hard Rock was tame/A hillbilly called him a black son of a bitch/And didn t lose his teeth, a screw who knew Hard Rock/From before shook him down and barked in his face/And Hard Rock did nothing/ Just grinned and looked ... This law of precedent (stare decisis) was founded hundreds of years ago as part of our common law. From stealing a loaf of bread ranging to murder in the first degree, there are precedents for any type of case that has ever occurred in Canada, and even many cases from Britain (prior to 1949 and the abolishment of the JCPC). • 40. Romeo And Juliet Balcony Scene Analysis The balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet is a well remembered scene in Romeo and Juliet. Although, there are different versions of it in different movies and plays. I m comparing the balcony scene between the original script and the 1997 movie. There are a lot of differences, with not as many similarities. It seems as a more modern day version... There are some key details in both the movie and the script. Some key details in the play are that Romeo hides in the darkness, and that he is stalking Juliet in a way. It also takes place on a balcony near the streets, [Seeing Juliet enter above on a balcony] (Act II Scene 2, Page 71) which is a lot more in older days than modern. In the movie version, some key details are that Romeo is hidden on a vine, not so much hidden though.(You can see in the 1997 movie, Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann.) The setting is also on a deck and a pool. Those are some of the key details you will need to know. Now, I will explain the differences between the original script and the movie. One pretty noticable difference is that the setting is a lot different. In the script, the setting is on the balcony, and is definitely a way less modern version, almost like a cliche love scene. In the 1997 movie, the setting isn t even on a balcony, it is on a back porch with a pool. This takes away the whole cliche love scene in the original script, and as I feel takes away some of the meaning of the original. It also is a lot more modern, because there aren t as many balconies in modern day houses now, which makes sense why the didn t put one, therefore it is an older and more modern day version. Another big difference between the two is that in the script, they don t have a pool that they jump into and kiss, but in the 1997 movie they do. Romeo and Juliet go into the pool together and kiss, when in the script they talk from a distance and then meet at her balcony. I think they did this also because it was made to be more modern, but they kept more of the cliche love scene. The last difference I will talk about is in the script, romeo hides in the darkness unseen, I have the darkness to hide me from their eyes... • 41. Causes Of The Monarch Butterfly So are we just going to ignore the fact that Monarch Butterflies are in trouble? We re just going to ignore the fact that we could easily help, but we choose not to?The monarch butterfly is an insect that relies their life on milkweed plants and is currently facing the problem of milkweed declining, but it can be solved by planting milkweeds causing the butterfly population to increase rapidly. The Monarch Butterfly is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It s the most common butterfly in North America , and is considered an iconic pollinator species .(Conserving Monarch butterflies And their habitats). The Monarch Butterflies have many nicknames such as, milkweed, common tiger, wanderer and black veined brown (Danaus). The Monarch Butterfly s life cycle has four stages, it begins with the egg, the caterpillar, the pupa, and then it emerges into an Adult butterfly. The female adult monarch butterfly mates with a male butterfly, and later lays its eggs specifically on a milkweed plant. After the eggs hatch, they turn into larva. The larva then spins a silky mat which turns into a chrysalis. Finally, the larva merges into an adult monarch butterfly. The monarch butterflies differ in migration than the any other species that migrate as well. The reason why the monarchs are different than other species is that they later come back to their previous winter location while other species stay.Monarch Butterflies migrate over 300,000 miles, for they can not stand the harsh cold temperatures. Every fall, they come from northern United States of America and migrate to southern United States of America, and at times they migrate all the way down to Mexico. Since monarch butterflies have a complicated life cycle (Migration) monarchs that have emerged in the winter do not yet reproduce until they re in the summer or spring season. On the other hand, monarch butterflies that are emerged in the summer or springtime reproduce rapidly. In addition, it s important for the monarchs to know when they have to migrate to the south and back to the winter. Sadly, the monarch butterflies are drastically decreasing due to the fact that the plant they need to survive, the milkweed plant, is slowly but surely diminishing. On ... • 42. Theme Of Fog In Long Day s Journey Into Night What Fog Represents in Long Day s Journey into Night? Long Day s Journey into Night is a semi autobiographical story written by Eugene O Neill roughly on 1941 1942. The play concerns the Tyrone family which were composed of parents James and Mary and their sons Jamie and Edmund. Mary and Jamie were each addicted to morphine and alcohol, respectively. The story deals with the family s addiction to whiskey, the father parsimony, the mother s addiction to morphine, and the younger son s illness. Resentment, blame, and accusation were expressed all the times by the family members for not taking responsibility and running away from the reality. When Mary was talking to her daughter Cathleen on act three, she said It s the foghorn I hate. It won t let you alone. It keeps reminding you, and warning you, and calling you back. The foghorn was obnoxious and harsh to Mary, and that is why she did not like it. Another example that explains that the metaphor fog, in this play, represented the lost or confusion life is Edmund s expression. Edmund indicated the idea that the fog was a flee from reality when he said, The fog is where I wanted to be. Edmund experienced his retreat into the fog with the help of alcohol so did Mary with the morphine. Edmund s lost, confusion, and the disconnected from the environment were explicitly shown from his feeling. However, his family could not read what he was experiencing because all of them were either drunk or on drugs like his mother. Moreover, Edmund used the sea and fog as metaphors of how close he feels to his loneliness. He said, As if I was a ghost belonging to the fog, and the fig was the ghost of the sea. It felt to damned peaceful to be nothing more than the ghost within the ghost. (Act fourth, O Neill) The father was partly blamed of all the crisis that the family had. The incandescent light bulb heats a filament by electric resistance inside a sealed glass globe and makes the thin tungsten wire glow white hot (Luoma, 1991). The incandescent blub is very inefficient because only 10% of the electricity flowing into the filament becomes light and the remaining nine tenths is lost at heat (Luoma, 1991). A standard blub is hot to the touch because it expends more than 90% of the electrical energy keeping its tungsten filament hot enough to glow (Roodman, 1993). A more advanced alternative to the standard incandescent light bulb is the CFL. Fluorescent tubes, developed in the 1930 s, utilize a chemical physical process involving the ionization of argon gas (Luoma, 1991). The fluorescent bulbs use one fifth to one third as much electricity to deliver the same number of lumens as conventional incandescent light bulbs (Petrowski, 1995).
