Attempts To Unify The English Colonies
During the colonial period, various attempts to unite the English colonies occurred. Issues arose
with the promotion of unity similar to any other instances in history. The colonies desperately
searched for ways they could have a more organized government, which could help them to protect
themselves against attacks from foreign nations. This urge to find ways to build the strength of the
colonies was directly related to the numerous taxes enforced on them by Britain. These taxes were a
form of compensation for a previous representation from Britain in the French and Indian War. The
interest in the establishment of unity in the colonies brought up various conversations which led to
the road to unifying the nation. Although the colonies had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It was known that unifying the colonies would be beneficial to every aspect which already
existed or was being created within the colonies. It would provide a stronger and more organized
government, which could potentially lead to the establishment of an intimidating presence to
foreign nations. However, the unification of the colonies would have to also combine the issues of
European immigrants with those of American Colonists in order to achieve freedom from the
taxes enforced by Britain. We do by these present, solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God
and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic, for our better
ordering and preservation and futherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact,
constitute, and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, offices from time to
time as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the colony. (Document

Claude Monet Haystacks
Claude Monet was a French artist of the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. He used very gestural
brush strokes in many of his painted, making them less realistic like any of the artist were doing
at the time. He was thought of as the father of Impressionism. Impressionism is taking a image out
of the realism skim and making it looked less real and instead more of a painting. This is done by
the long and large brush strokes in many of Monet s pieces, making them an Impression of an
image rather than going for a photographic look. The movement name actually came from
reviewers stating that the work was an impression of an image rather than its own piece of art.
This piece above Haystacks , relates to capturing the impression of a moment ... Show more content

This made it easy for Mondrian to make the pieces such like haystacks. The elements of the
movement are color, line, and value. In the painting Monet used very bright and dark colors, and
used large brushstroke lines as well. The value is seen in the darkness of the background and the
brightness of the green lilies. This is also seen in many of the other pieces of impressionism in this
time period.
Monet employs the principles of organization through scale, emphasis, contrast, and proportion. He
uses the close up scale of the haystack to show its emphasis in the piece. The contrast of the bright
sky on the darker haystack is very defined as well.
He used many elements of design in his piece as well. Line is a huge one; you can see the lines
from the shadows, the parallel lines of the tops of the haystacks, and the landscape horizontal
line as well. He also showed a ton of space since the haystacks are all on the left side, the right is
a huge open space in the painting. Form is also used in the piece, considering the haystacks look
3D to the human eye. The color and value work together to create the darkness of the haystacks
and shadows, and the light blue of the sky as well. Mass is the last element seen in this piece. The
haystacks seem so massive in the foreground compared to the horizon in the face background of the

Manga
Comics didn t interest me much until a few years ago: long Indian summers spent reading Archie
digests out of utter boredom had convinced me that there wasn t much to the form. It was only
when a friend introduced me to Japanese comics (or manga) three years ago that I began to realize
that the synthesis of image and text could produce complex layers of meaning, which shifted from
reading to reading. In Japan, mangahas spread and diversified as a dominant (almost the dominant)
medium in mass culture The huge audience for manga in Japan has allowed artists to diversify into
many different types, the two primary classifications being shonen boys manga and shoujo girls

Initially, I concentrated on buying a wide range of manga to sample rather than focusing on
specific series. In this way, I acquired random volumes of series such as Gensomaden Saiyuki,
Neon Genesis Evangelion and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Once I got an idea of which types of
manga I found most appealing, I began to focus on acquiring several volumes of a particular
series. For example, I now own all of the Banana Fish volumes that have so far been translated into
English.
Currently, I am eager to acquire volumes of series such as Banana Fish, Paradise Kiss and Mars,
which are all similar to apprentice novels or novels of awakening, in which the characters find
their place in society through various experiences. I am also researching other boys love artists,
such as Motoni Modoru. She borrows from several genres, including horror and Taisho period
historical novels, to produce atmospheric thrillers. More generally, I would like to focus on titles
that are more creative and unusual than the run of the mill boys love story. One example is the
mafia thriller cum horror story Face, which I acquired last October.
Lastly, the popularity of manga and Japanese animation (or anime) in America has inspired a large
number of aspiring American artists to produce work that is written in English, but incorporates
shoujo manga techniques of drawing and story telling. This movement has resulted in several
interesting collaborations and

Orbits Group Process Analysis
Process Notes from an Orbits Group
The Orbits group session began with a discussion about coping skills, and how hard it is to utilize
coping skills in crisis situations. As the group started, the leader who is JG, the Mental Health
Technician, discussed the ground rules. The rules included raising your hands when you wished to
be acknowledged, ask, or answer questions, allowing others to complete a thought before replying,
and remaining respectful at all times, which included no side conversations. Members who
understand what behaviors are expected of them tend to be more successful (Corey, Corey, Corey,
2010). The group maintained a wheel pattern of communication, sitting in a circle, with the group

alliance/subgroup obviously affected the group in a negative way in the beginning, and I thought
that it would continue throughout the meeting because from my experience that is usually the
case. However, I believe that DM did the right thing by opening up, and expressing his feelings,
which lead to meaningful work occurring between him and MH. I also believe that the leader did
a good job allowing this confrontation to play out, but not get out of control. She also did a good

Linda Chavez seeks to inform Hispanic immigrants and American citizens of the protests between
Hispanics and legislation. She also attempts to outline and rid of the common stereotype that
Hispanics are an issue to American society because they illegally migrate to the U.S. and raise
their flag to harsh legislation. Chavez appears to side with her Hispanic relatives and defends them
of their stereotypes by listing various achievements immigrants conquer. In paragraph 8 she states

achievements aiming to rid of the typical Hispanic stereotype that Americans may

IV Therapy Complications
Issues Intravenous fluid therapy has been used for almost 200 years and remains a fundamental
part of hospital patient care. There is always danger involved with prescribing and giving people
iv fluids. The wrong administration of IV fluids such as the incorrect volume or the incorrect
type of fluid could result in serious complications. Peripheral Intravenous Catheters (PIVCs) are
a tool in the delivery of patient care. PIVCs enable people to have therapies such as medications,
fluids and nutrition to reach patients quickly and effectively through the bloodstream. A study
found a complication rate for PIVCs in place for 96 hours to be close to 50 percent. Some of the
most recognized complications of PIVCs are phlebitis, occlusion, infiltration and extravasation
and IV infection. Some of these complication could and in the past have caused death among
patients. Many complications with IV fluids are leading up to more dangers complications.
Most can be treated but they are very painful but some complications are life threatening such as
deep thrombophlebitis caused by the building of a clot in a blood vessel. Some complications
caused by IV therapy are very costly such as occlusion because they have to replace the catheter.
Also many effects caused by IV therapy cannot be noticeable until the IV is taken off. This is
very dangers because if the complication is not treated over a period of time it could evolve into
something more dangers. In this project I will describe

The Reason Behind The Consumer s Need For Balance Essay
notion that people have a basic desire for balance in their lives (Hennig Thurau, et al., 2004).
The reason behind the consumer s need to express positive emotions is that the consumer s
positive consumption experiences contribute to a psychological tension inside him or her
because of a strong desire to want to share the joy of the experience with someone. And also the
factors driving consumers to spread positive on line customer review in online consumer opinion
platforms Based on social psychology literature, they distinguished five key motivations: egoistic
(e.g. the goal is to increase one s own welfare, collective (e.g. the goal is to increase the group s
benefits), altruistic (e.g. voluntary increasing the welfare of individuals other than one s self),
principality (e.g. the ultimate goal of upholding some moral principle, such as justice or the
utilitarian principle of the greatest good for the greatest number, and knowledge self efficacy (e.g.
a personal judgment of one s capability to execute actions required for designated types of
performances (Cheung and Lee, 2012). The negative feelings associated with dissatisfying
consumption experiences on a consumer opinion platform can serve to lessen the frustration and
reduce the anxiety associated with the event. A consumer s desire for catharsis is known to be a
major driving force behind the articulation of negative personal experiences. Accordingly, sharing a

The Common Endocrine System Malignancy
The most common endocrine system malignancy in the Unites States is thyroid cancer. The
majority of diagnosed thyroid cancers are classified as differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). More
specifically, these cancers are either papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) or follicular thyroid cancers
(FTC), with 80.2% being diagnosed as papillary and 11.4% as follicular (Avram, 2012). DTC is the
fifth most common canceramong females and has ten year survival rates of 97% for PTC and
94% for FTC (Khan et al., 2015; Marcus, Whitworth, Surasis, Pai, Subramaniam, 2014). The
majority of patients diagnosed with DTC receive a near total or total thyroidectomy. Some patients
also have lymph nodes or surrounding tissue removed as well dependent on metastases (Avram,
2012). After removal of the thyroid gland, patients can undergo radiographic scintigraphy in the
nuclear medicine department to obtain functional and anatomical information. Imaging the patient
after the administration of I 123 or I 131 can identify precise locations of radioactivity in the
entire body, which can identify distant metastases or any remaining thyroid tissue. The size and
location of radioactivity can influence whether doctors chooses surgical excision, radioactive
iodine therapy (RAI), or external radiation therapy for those areas. Planar imaging has a

Symbolism In Flawed And Perfect By Cecelia Ahern
In the book series, Flawed and Perfect by Cecelia Ahern, the setting is set in the future where
everyone stays between the lines. There are two groups in this society: there are those who are
perfect which make up most of the population, and there are those who are flawed. Flawed
people are treated poorly and are forced to follow much stricter guidelines because they had
done something that society no longer accepted. Celestine is one of the few who decide to do
what is right even if it is against what others think. One theme that is presented in this book series
is sometimes people have to go against society s views to do what s right. In the story, Flawed, an
example of author s craft appears early on in the book. Here, the author... Show more content on

Celestine decides that she would nicely go ask the young ladies to move so that the sick old
man is able to sit in a seat. These ladies refused and questioned if she is helping a flawed which is
a crime. Celestine then helps the man to an open seat and the author states, There s an audible
gasp in the bus. I look around at everyone, the judgmental faces of surprise. (Ahern Flawed 47).
This is significant because she was the only one on the bus willing to stand up for the sick old
man. This is the first time in this book series that the readers actually see a character who doesn t
follow the rest of the society and is willing to step out of the lines to do what is right. She is a
character who does not ignore the people around her and is not solely focused on just herself.
Celestine shows the theme because she shows care for another person even though the rest of
the views of the society she lives in wouldn t dare think about it. Certainly, it can be said that
Celestine is not trying to do the right thing, but is choosing to just rebel against society. While
this is a good point, it fails to show that the old man who she helped was in fact dying and
Celestine was just trying to assist the flawed man into a seat. She was not trying to show that she
could rebel, but just to do the right thing for an elder on the bus. Where this logic seems to let
down is when the author describes

There has yet to be a definitive court ruling on the status of e mail. The largest number of people
being happy in this case would be the general public and judging from the overwhelming support
for the parents the general public wanted Yahoo! to release the emails. The deontological
consideration only takes into account what the right thing to do is. It is not black and white in
this particular case. For obvious reasons, an email account should not be on public display when
someone passes away. I do think that if someone specifies in a will or in some type of legal
document their wishes for an email account, those should be followed through. Yahoo s perspective
however is cut and dry. There was a contract between Yahoo and Justin that stated when Justin
passes away, the account will be deleted. Because the only legal document in this case was the
agreement between Yahoo and Justin, I believe the right thing to do would be to terminate the

Martin Luther King s Economic Inequality In The US
Around six o clock in the afternoon on April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King was shot dead while
standing on the balcony of his second floor room at the Lorraine Motel at Memphis, Tennessee.
King was in Memphis to support striking African American city sanitation workers. On his way
to dinner when he was shot in the head by a sniper who was later discovered to be James Earl

inequality in the United Statesof America. The workers had staged a march on February 11, 1968,
to protest unequal wages and working conditions imposed by then mayor Henry Loeb. At the time,
Memphis paid black workers significantly lower wages than whites. Several sanitation workers
had been killed on the job due to unsafe working conditions. In addition, unlike white workers,
black workers received no pay if they stayed home during bad weather this meant, most black
peoplewere compelled to work even in heavy rain and serve snow storms. Shortly, after the shot
was fired from the Remington 760

important and of interest for a number of reasons. More specifically, the monastic influence on

nuns had not been able to transform and reimage the Druidic religion. It is for this amalgamation of
practices that we Western Christians have the current understanding of the importance of
spirituality, prayer and divinity. If St. Patrick had not been able to convince the tribal leaders of the
power of God as well as establishing structured and organized monastic communities then perhaps
the Celts would have never been converted. Irish monastic practices and obedience have been

How Japan Became a Successful Empire Essay
By 1905 Japan had become a military power capable of carving out an empire for itself. Japan did
this by the Meiji Restoration, the Sino Japanese War and the Anglo Japanese alliance + Russo
Japanese War.
Firstly, Japan was dramatically changed after the Meiji Restoration in 1868. The Meiji Restoration
was a political uprising which ended the era of ruling of the Tokugawa shogun and gave back
power to the emperor Meiji. When the emperor returned to his position as ruler, Japan was the
complete opposite of a military power, it relied on its farm land and had made very few
technological advances. The Japanese people wanted to become a nation able to stand amongst
Europe and United States (the Western Powers) especially after these western... Show more content

This small act nearly broke into a full blown war between china and japan but was resolved by
signing a treaty that stated that both japan and china had to withdraw their military from Korea
and notify Korea if they were any military movements. Yet in 1894 Korea had an uprising and
both china and japan sent in their military and when the incident was resolved japan would not
withdraw their military. This cause china to fight back but ended with an easy victory for japan
because of its more modernized military. By winning this war Japan was able to increase their
military power and start becoming a powerful empire.
Also, Japan was able to expand their military power and become a powerful empire through the
Anglo Japanese Alliance which led to the Russo Japanese war. The Anglo Japanese Alliance which
happened between the years of 1902 to 1923 was a set of three treaties. These treaties were
signed just before World War one and stated that Great Britain and Japan would have to help each
other in protecting their various interests in Korea and china against Russia. It also stated that if
the other country needed military assistance the other country would provide them with their
military and if the various interests from Korea and/or china were in any way threatened by
foreign powers Great Britain or Japan could come and interfere. With this treaty in place Japan

c. Conducting Research
This is perhaps the most important step in the research paper writing process. Your research not
only provides you ethos as a writer by revealing your knowledge and understanding of the topic,
but also will very likely shape both your understanding and interpretation of the topic. Listed
below are several important tips for conducting research and notetaking: * In order to avoid later
confusion, begin each section by recording the author s name, book or article title, and page
numbers (if relevant). * As you examine each source, record important or unique notions which
you may wish to incorporate within your paper. Make certain to outline the general arguments
of each source by including a descriptive heading after the citation. This will aid you in more
quickly and easily distinguishing between sources in the future. Additionally, it may be useful to
group sources into categories based on more refined topics. * In order to diminish the risk of
plagiarizing, do NOT directly lift phrasing or entire segments of the text from sources without
properly indicating that you have done so. If you find it necessary to directly quote an author,
clearly indicate what has been copied from the author and record the page number on which this
information can be found. * Remain critical of your sources: Do not assume that an idea or
criticism is valid, because it appears in the argument of a single critic or even multiple

The Reform And Implementation Of A New Defined Benefit...
INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension
system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A
new 1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was
officially put into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar
program, the implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested
by the World Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability,
and robustness of Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries
with similar pension schemes. The focus will mostly be on the new program JPN, and to a lesser
extent, the old Jamsostek program Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). DB AND DC SCHEMES Indonesia
has both of these schemes implemented in the pension system. Both schemes cover only the formal
sector. DC (Jaminan Hari Tua) Prior to the 2015 reform, Indonesia s DC system was abused by
contributors by withdrawing the balance long before the maturity of the fund/retirement . A reform
was made so that the minimum contributory period was 10 years and a large part of the balance
cannot be withdrawn until participants reach retirement age. Most individuals do not understand
the actuarial component in a DC scheme. Early contributions in the accumulation period matters
more compared to the latter ones. Most Individuals do not know the power of compound

Kinetic And Potential Energy For Roller Coasters
Our roller coaster The Explosion shows the First Law of Thermodynamics, the first law states that
energy will be conserved. Our roller coaster conserves energy by reaching its highest peak and
flowing with the energy that it has built up. It shows many different types of energy. An example of
that would be Kinetic and Potential energy. Kinetic energyis the energy of movement and Potential
energyis energy stored in an object. Work and power however are not involved in the motion of
our rollercoaster. Work is done when force is done to a project an power is the rate at which
work is performed. Work is not being performed on The Explosion because is not always moving

Corrie Ten Boom Analysis
I believe that any obstacle or disadvantage can be made into something positive. The story of
Corrie ten Boom, a Polish holocaust victim, and two homeschooled friends I know with cerebral
palsy prove this point in many ways.
In the mid eighteenth century, World War II brought chaos and genocide into center stage in the
world arena. Jews were being torn from their homes and sent to concentration camps, where they
would either die instantly or be made to work under unthinkably brutal conditions. Corrie ten
Boom, a middle aged Polish woman, worked together with her whole family to help hide Jews in a
secret room in her house. Once the operation was revealed to Nazi authorities, however, most of the
ten Booms were shipped off to concentration camps where they suffered isolation, humiliation,
starvation, and severe physical and emotional pain. Corrie even ... Show more content on

labeled as useless and odd. Through this simple play, the cast demonstrated that being different from
everyone else does not have to be a setback. Though these two have had to deal with constant and
debilitating disadvantages throughout their lives, they still face their struggles with courage and
humility. Their personalities shine and they treat others with respect. Having met them personally, I
can testify that their lives are touching other people s lives and are encouraging others who have

participating in a touching summer musical, they directly and indirectly show that disadvantages

The Sexuality Of Women s Sexuality
There are certainly many different types of feminists with varying beliefs on various topics.
Pornography is one of the most widely disputed of these topics, and has long caused controversy
among feminists. Two clear, and distinctly different, sides have been taken by Andrea Dworkin as
well as Linda Williams. The former of these two academics has taken the presumably more
controversial stance. Dworkin is known for their radical stance that pornographyonly paints women
as whores, as that is how they are seen in a male dominated world. She also is of the opinion that
the depictions of femalesexuality is accurate to how women are represented in real life: The
valuation of women s sexuality in pornography is objective and real because... Show more content

This quote demonstrates not only Williams understanding of female agency but also that female
sex workers often exist in contrast to some feminists. Moreover, Williams does acknowledge
female passivity in traditional porn: Women, on the other hand, like slaves and boys, were the
passive penetrated, who did not move, who were fucked, and who had no power to abstain
(Williams, 368). Contrastingly to Dworkin, Williams acknowledges how pornography has changed
from its conception, both in terms of how it is produced, as well as how the women are valued and
portrayed in the industry, as she follows the story of Annie Sprinkle. It is the opinion of this author
that Williams more accurately represents pornography than Dworkin. Based on the opinions of
many authors explored in this unit, it would seem that the terms pornography and feminism could be
considered antonyms. I am sure that many anti pornography feminists would sooner turn over in
their graves before deciding that the two could be correlated. But is that necessarily true? I
personally believe that aspects of feminism can be found everywhere, and can be applied in the
strangest of places. It is for this reason that I believe that pornography has the capability to be
feminist, though it rarely is. In its creation, women certainly were passive members who had no
agency in their participation nor the consumption of pornography. Pornography was kept hidden
and censored out of

Computers Field, Desktop And Server
The technology keeps growing and advancing on every single aspect on the computers field,
desktop and server cannot be the exception, a very specific case is the system virtualization. The
creating of a virtual version of a device or resource makes virtualization a great tool for network
engineers and system administrators on the daily managing configuration, testing and creating of
systems. As a first look is inarguable the advantages that can come with the virtualization of system
environments, but has virtualization overcome regular computerusing? Is it reliable? It is cost
effective? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
The idea of virtualizing all the system on a network environment sound like a good alternative, in
fact there is more systems administrator that prefer a virtual environment that to a normal
multicomputer. The advantages of virtualization are for example, cost savings because the
organization don t have to buy as much software, and software test before implementation. In
contrast there are disadvantages like well qualified IT personnel and reliability due to have all
your eggs in one basket
From my perspective, comparison between multicomputers and virtualized systems can change
according the skills of the system administrator, although multicomputers is still a validate practice
in many environments there is no doubt virtualization is the best way to administrate an
organization from rehabilitee to cost effective.
The new era of systems

Homelessness Under The Mckinney Vento Homelessness...
Homelessness is one of the oldest problems that exist, fast forward almost 40 years since it s
been recognized as one and still there has been no avail to finding a real solution. The definition of
homelessness under the McKinney Vento Homelessness Assistance Act is defined as an individual:
who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence; and a person who has a nighttime
residence that is supervised publicly or privately operated shelter, and c) an institution that provides
a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized, or a private or public place
not designed for, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings.
Homelessness is basically another form of poverty except more extreme, yet society treats it as if
it was on another spectrum of problems. Some in society stigmatize this population by saying
things like: they re homeless because they are drug addicts, alcoholics, they don t want to work
and just live off the government for free. What many forget to think about are the factors that have
these people on the street, or the fact that they are not only experiencing personal hardship by being
without a permanent residence but emotional ones as well. Add the fact they are sometimes
discriminated against and excluded by society, and you will realize you are looking at one of the
most vulnerable populations.
This homelessness population consists of people from all age groups: infants, children, adolescents,
adulthood, and the

Ted Bundy and Psychodynamic Theory Essay
Theodore Bundy was born on November 24th 1946. He was born to an unwed mother who was
told that she was his sister. He was raised by his grandparents who portrayed themselves as his
parents throughout his early childhood years. According to the article I read Ted s grandfather
was abusive towards Ted and his other siblings (Montaldo). Ted was shy and said to be sociably
awkward, but during high school he developed into good looking guy and was liked by many.
Ted met his first girlfriend in college and eventually falls in love. His girlfriend did not see Ted as
someone who would be successful and eventually broke up with him and this broke his heart. This

Psychodynamic theorists believe that this disorder begins during infancy when infants either
develop trust or mistrust towards their caregivers. In the case of Ted this very issue caused a lot
of turmoil for him. He grew up thinking that his grandparents were his parents and that is sister
was his mother. I think that this was very hard for him to accept and he felt like he could not
trust anyone. Researchers have supported the psychodynamic theory by claiming that people
with disorder have been subjected to family violence and parental conflict or divorce. Ted s
grandfather was said to be violent towards Ted and his other siblings. I believe that Ted s
environment played a huge role in his developing antisocial disorder and that these factors
would be listed under axis IV of the DSM IV TR. Michael Packard who was an editor for DSM
IV s criteria developed a way to determining the GAF or the Global Assessment Functioning. He
suggests moving up and down the scale until the person s status at that moment is described. I
chose the time in Ted s life when he was killing and found his GAF to be a 4 or lower according
Packard s method. At this level the DSM IV s criteria would be that Ted was a persistent danger of
severely hurting others (Midwest Behavioral Health Network, 2009). Psychodynamic theorists
would believe that Ted s past experiences would contribute to his disorder. They believe that

The Death Of The Moth
In her essay The Death of the Moth , Virginia Woolf depicts the struggle of life confronting death
through the death of a moth. Woolf sees a moth flying in a pleasant morning, mid September, mild,
benignant (385). She uses this soft autumnal description of her morning to emphasize the beauty of
life and the happiness one feels while being alive; however, she uses the moth to represent life
itself and show its own struggles: [the moth] tried to fly across...the window pane , but he failed
(386). She uses the moth s failure and awkwardness (386) to announce deaths arrival and the moth s
constant effort to keep flying to show a desperation to hang on to life. Why moth is so attached to
life?. After perhaps a seventh attempt [the moth] slipped from the wooden ledge and fell,
fluttering his wings, onto his back on the window sill (385). No matter how bad the consequences
of the moth s attempts to fly, he was not going to surrender and after recognizing that there was
something marvelous as well as pathetic about the moth due to his constants attempts to live,
Woolf stretched out a pencil, meaning to help him to right himself , but when she notice the
approach of death... [she] laid the pencil down again (385). Woolf s use of the pencil instead of
her own fingers shows how fragile the life of the moth was and how careful she was trying to be to
help the insignificant creature (385). However, her shift from interest on the moth life to its death

The Benefits Of Learning A Foreign Language
Everyone who utters a word speaks a language, but if nobody understands a language someone
speaks, then communication becomes very difficult no matter how much explaining is done.
Languages are used globally, yet they vary from country to country. Although languages vary a lot,
it s important to learn other languages to build understanding. Most students are taught foreign
languageduring their time in high school. learning a new language has been taught in high school
where more students start their couple of year first starting a new language that they may have
never heard of before. Although foreign languagemay be difficult for high school students, it helps
them get a job, gain opportunities, and provide a different perspective of the world.
First, many high school students can learn a foreign language to help them get ready for high
school to become a translator. According to a high school teacher, we are giving students a leg
up in the world that will require them to interact with the people abroad. The teacher is thinking
that adding a foreign language in high school would can help the world by breaking language
barriers in foreign language. This would help the future of the students in life that would go
outside of the United States. Not only does knowing a foreign language help a person speak
another language but many other big or small business will want to hire high school students.
According to many people in the world they say that the more language a high school student
know can benefit for into getting a job. Therefore, the more languages a high school student know
now the higher the chance they will get the job than the person next to the applicant. Knowing a
foreign language will be able to help the big businesses that are from different countries to work
together. There are many foreign countries that are incorporated into the United States whose
workers don t speak English and will require assistance from someone who knows their language.
There is a variety language spoken in the United States which we haven t heard of. In a census it
shows, The Census shows that in 2010 there has been an increase of population in the United States

Turbines
Turbines are flow sensing devices. They consist of a low inertia vane. When a subject exhales
into the device, the vane rotates. Also, inside the device are a light source and a photo cell. When
the vane rotates, the light signal is interrupted and so the number of rotations can be measured.
The frequency of rotations depends on the flow of air so a flow signal can be generated.

Subjective Reality in Anne Carson s Autobiography of Red...
Subjective Reality in Anne Carson s Autobiography of Red
Anne Carson s Autobiography of Red is a world of subjective reality. Carson explores the
relationship between subject and object through a reworking of an original Greek myth. The
original myth is of Herakles, who s tenth labor was to kill Geryon, a red winged monster who
lived on an island, and steal his cattle. Carson takes the insignificant character of Geryon and
creates a story based on his life, as if set in modern times. Autobiography of Red enters a world of
ambiguity, where all objects are challenged and made into subjects. Geryon is the subject of
Autobiography of Red. The title alone delineates the fact that Geryon writes this story about
himself. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Geryon is making a waste of a fairly significant amount of money, his mother does not
stop him. He creates his autobiography as he wants it and on his own terms. Geryon is not
being objectified in his autobiography by being told how to create it. Geryon truly writes his
own autobiography. Geryon is a subjective character. He is removed from the rest of the world
and is therefore not subject to its reality. He is subject only to his own. This is immediately
apparent through the fact that he is red and has wings. Geryon is the only character in the novel
who is physically different from the others. It is not a feasible idea to have a person who is red
and has wings. This makes him a subjective character because he is unlike the rest and challenges
the convention of the typical human character. Even the reality of a corridor is a completely
different reality for Geryon: Between Main Door and Kindergarten ran a corridor. To Geryon it

of the corridor as merely a walkway between the main door and kindergarten becomes a subjective

Aromatherapy is a therapeutic practice that incorporates olfactory stimulation into therapeutic
treatment. This form of therapy is seen as a natural technique to heal a person s mind, body, and
soul (Ali et al., 2015). There have been many ancient civilizations that have used this type of
complementary and alternative medicine. These civilizations such as Egypt, China, and India
have been using oils for over 6,000 years to treat an array of different ailments (Ali et al., 2015).
Along with ancient civilizations, there have been over 200 references of the use of oils in the

Social And Economic Issues Around Small Farms
Since the founding of America, the small family farm has been a pillar of United States culture and
economics. These small generational farms were known for molding very capable, independent
families that were known for their morality, strong character, and high work ethic. Urbanization,
industrialization, the growth of U.S. agribusiness, and other economic factors have slowly chipped
away at the presence of the U.S. small family farm. Technology and mechanization developed by
colleges, agribusinesses, and other government sponsored research programs have caused farm
supply to increase exponentially while farm demand grows at roughly the rate of population
growth. Most modern small farmsare too commodity focused to compete in niche... Show more

Many of these younger workers often see farming as an antiquated profession and relatively
unprofitable. The draw of higher education and the bright lights of city life are constant
distractions pulling them away from the less exciting rural life of farming. Without a generation of
farmer to replace the last many small farms are sold and developed commercially or absorbed by
larger commodity driven farms that surround them. Technological advancements have been a strong
driver of change in agriculture over the last 100 years. Technology is, in fact, the key force driving
the shift of farm activities off farms (Smith, 1992, p. 8). After the World Wars, mechanical
advancements were made at a rapid pace. Advances in mechanization and increasing availability
of chemical inputs led to ever increasing economies of scale that spurred rapid growth in average
farm size, accompanied by an equally rapid decline in the number of farms and in the farm and
rural populations (Dimitri, Effland, Conklin, 2005, p. 6). Essentially, the use of mechanization has
dramatically increased the supply of agricultural products while also drastically reducing the size
of the necessary workforce. The amount of capital used per farmworker increased 15 times
between 1930 and 1980, permitting a fivefold increase in the amount of land cultivated per farmer

Effects Of Music On Rosa Chinensis Plants

experiment because they believed it would be beneficial to understand the growth of a plantand how
its surroundings may affect it. For this experiment that took thirty bulbs from one mother Rosa
plants and separated them into five groups. One group was the controlled group and the other
four were given a certain type of music to grow with, rock, Western classical, Indian classical,
and verdic chants. These plants were exposed to this music for sixty minutes in the morning
between 6:00 AM 7:00 AM, immediately after sun rise for a period of sixty two days. They made
sure that each group was given the same of water, sunlight and blockage from ambient noise. This

Demographic Trends Of The Demographic Transition Model
The demographic transition model shows historical population trends of two demographic
characteristics such as birth rate and death rate. (Grover, D. 2014). In 1929 a demographic observer
named Warren Thompson decided to make a chart that showed transitions in death and birth rates
changed in an industrialized society of the last two hundred years. (Montgomery, K. 2015). The
demographic model shows if populationincreased or decreased in all countries due to their
economy stability. If there were countries with high death and birth rate, what the factors that
contributed to the high or low rates such as not enough food, or what diseases people were getting
to make those rates increase. There are four phases of demographic transition. Stage 1 is known as
the Pre transition stage. This is characterized by birth rates, and high fluctuating death rates. Stage
2 is known as the Early Transition stage. During this stage rate begins to fall, while the birth rates
remain high, and the population begins to grow. Stage 3 is known as the Late Transition stage. In
this stage birth rate starts to decline, and the population growth begins to decline. Stage 4 is known
as the Post Transition stage. In this stage there is low birth and death rate, and population also
declines. According to demographers, the factors that lead to a decline in CDR during stage 2 and
stage 3 of the demographic transition stages was high birth rate, which mean the population

Example Of The Lemon Case
The Lemon Case Yazan Deiry Schiller International University Introduction An offer, according
to business law, is an expression that an individual is willing to enter into a contract, provided
specific terms are adhered to and as soon as it is accepted it ultimately becomes binding by the
person with whom this offer has been addressed to (Riches Allen, 2013). To form an agreement,
there has to be an offer by a party, an exchange of thought or consideration (an item of value), and
an acceptance by the other party. The individual that proposes the agreement terms makes the
offer, and is referred to as the offeror within the contract or agreement law while the individual to
whom the proposal or offer is made is called the offeree (Llewellyn, 2013). This case study
describes a situation where an individual owned a new cell phone that gave him a lot of trouble.

Hurd, a lawyer accepted to purchase a law office from another lawyer, whereby the offeror who
was selling the law office exaggerated the representations regarding what he was earning due to the
value of the practice (Friedmann, 2003). However, the lawyer who purchased the office noted that
the practice was not worthy and that the seller had created false representations, hence; he sued for
the contract s rescission. The court granted the lawyer a rescission of the contract on the grounds
that the man was influenced to enter into a contract by means of false representation. Furthermore,
the representations made by seller were false (Friedmann, 2003). In this regard, the person who was
making the offer of the lemon misrepresented the facts in that he was not selling a lemon, but a cell
phone. The owner of the phone carelessly announced the offer without much regard as to the
consequences and as such, the neighbor was induced into entering into the

How Far Had African Americans Progressed in Gaining Better...
Although there was a significant amount of progress for African American civil rights by 1960,
there were still problems to be dealt with: only 800,000 out of 20 million black people were
registered to vote in 1963, although it was a slowly rising number; in 1962, President Kennedy
signed an executive order to end discrimination in federal housing construction, but there were still
black ghettos in cities such as Chicago, Detroit and New York.
Firstly, despite the high enlistment rate of black people in the army during the second world war,
they were not treated well. Segregation was enforced in nearly all aspects of military life, from
military parades and church services to being transported and when in the canteens. The Red Cross

The crisis of Little Rock finally saw Eisenhower intervene, when 9 black children attempted to
enter Little Rock Central High School in 1957 and were met with hostility, protesters, and above
all, racism. The Governor of Arkansas, Orval E. Faubus, had no intention of complying with the
Brown verdict; he wanted to give the impression of standing firm on the issue of segregated
schools as he was coming up to a re election, so barred the way using the Arkansas National
Guard. Eisenhower later put the 10,000 troopers of the Arkansas National Guard under federal
control the same troops that barred the way now ended up keeping white protesters back and
escorting the black children into the school. Although the Brown case was a victory for black civil
rights, the resulting chaos with Little Rock showed just how far they still had to go in terms of the
deep racism that was still in the white people of the south.
Another significant event was the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955 6, which was sparked by
Rosa Parks, a member of the NAACP, and highly respected in the local community. Rosa Parks
refused to give up her seat for a white man when the bus driver demanded it. She was thrown off

The Effect Of Heat And Calorimeter On The Heat Capacity
Introduction/ Abstract: As a metal was being heated, the temperature was changing by increasing
the heat capacity. The change of the temperature depended on how much heat was supplied to the
metal and the mass, which could make a difference based on the object being heated. With that said,
the purpose of this experiment, which covered the concepts of heatand calorimeter, was to measure
the specific heat of a metal and to compare the experimental result to the theoretical value of same
metal.
Theory:
The relevant theoretical concept and equation used in this experiment were:
∆Q = change in the quantity of heat m = mass of the object
∆T = change in temperature
C = heat capacity
Heat capacity, C, is the quantity of heat needed to raise the system s temperature by one degree.
∵∆Q = C∆T
в€
ґC = ∆Q ∆T
The specific heat, c, of a solid or liquid is to raise the temperature of the substance to some value
which means the the quantity of heat needed to raise the the temperature of a particular substance,
a fixed a mount for a given unit mass. c = Cm
The specific heat of a material can be calculated by combining the above equations to give, c=
∆Qm ∆T
Using conservation of energy, the heat lost by the metal was the same as the one gained by the
water/calorimeter system, mmcm (Tmi в€’ Tf) = mwcw ( Tfв€’ Tw ) + mccc (Tfв€’ Tw ) where
we have assumed that the whole system has the same final temperatureTf and cm was the specific
heat of the metal.
mm = The mass of the metal shot

Essay On British Imperialism
Consolidating the British Empire:
The British Empire was an empire on which the sun never set. Lasting for over three hundred years,
Britain became the global hegemonic power of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From the
wilds of Australia, to the fertile lands of Africa, the British Empireruled over a quarter of the world
s population. With the empire ever expanding, visual and material culture became relied upon to
help consolidate the empire. Overall, whether an advertisement for soap, or the funeral for Dr.
Livingstone, visual and material culture was at the forefront of British imperialism.
Although Britain abolished slavery in 1833, the shackles of racism remained. In the late nineteenth
and early twentieth centuries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With soap seen as a magical medium capable of enforcing or enlarging British power in the
colonial world... (McClintock, 225), by buying the soap, Brits could actively partake in imperialism
without having to go across the globe.
As aforementioned, with the abolishment of slavery, scientific racism emerged. As seen in the
political cartoon, Am I not a Man or a Brother? , negative stereotypes emerged comparing
Africans to simians. Created as a satire of the monogenetic vs. polygenetic debate, the cartoon
makes fun of the abolition slogan Am I not a Man or a Brother? . Asserting Africans inferiority on
a sub human level, the cartoon brings into question the entire abolition movement. Why grant
freedom to a race of people that are no more biologically separate from an ape? Africans were seen
by many as a different species... (Pettit, 45).
The negative stereotype of Africans to apes is seen throughout the visual culture of Great
Britain. However, the image of simians, was used to depict other negative stereotypes such as
working women as seen in the Monkey Brand Soap Ad. In the Monkey Brand Soap Ad, we see a
monkey extending a frying pan to catch the few dollars spared by passerbys. Monkey Brand Soap
promised... to magically erase the unseemly spectacle of women s manual labor (McClintock ,
215). During the Victorian Era, women were not to inhabit the private sphere, doing domestic work
in the home. For women who worked publicly

Wills Law Essay
Wills Problem: The Estate of Jackie Kennedy Onassis
1.The overall testamentary plan seems to be that Jackie Kennedy Onassis (testator) estate was
allocated proportionately to those people she deemed to be the closest to her. Thus, the further
away from Jackie via bloodline, the less the person inherited and the less personal the gifts seemed
to be. The majority of her real and personal property was left to her children, while friends and
other relatives received legacy gifts. Some of the gifts to her friends were very specific (as in
question 3), so it is likely that there was some sort of sentimental value between Jackie, the devisee,
and the property in question. Whole blooded relatives received a larger portion than her ... Show

The modern Stage 3 rule, UPC В§ 2 603, saves devisees to three basic groups: grandparents,
descendants of grandparents, and stepchildren. This UPC Stage 3 rule does not apply to non
relatives whatsoever. Jackie Kennedy Onassis left gifts to Mellon, Tempelsman, and Forger, but
she listed them in her will as friends . Because they predeceased the testator and no alternative
beneficiaries were stated for their gifts, one must look to see if there is an applicable Stage 2
anti lapse statute. Under both Stage 2 and Stage 3 majority rules, anti lapse statutes do not protect
friends ; therefore the gifts would fail. It is possible that First D could be construed as naming
Jackie s children as alternate beneficiaries if First A, B, C failed, so the testator s surviving
children would take these gifts.
3.Jackie Kennedy Onassis left Maurice Tempelsman in FIRST B, a Greek alabaster head of a
woman. If at the time of her death she no longer owned this Greek alabaster head, would Mr.
Tempelsman receive a Roman alabaster head of a woman that was purchased by the testator after
the making of the will? Under the Stage 2(a) rule, where a testamentary gift of specific real or
personal property no longer exists as part of the Testator s estate at the moment of his death because
of its prior consumption, loss, destruction, substantial change, sale or other alienation subsequent to
the execution of the

Freedom Of Speech In Public Nuisance Law
Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.
Thomas Jefferson is stating that the press cannot be limited or there would be no freedom. The
Saturday press , is a prime example of newspaper with a loud voice about corruption. Furthermore,
Minnesota passed the Public Nuisance Law or known as the, press gag law . Freedom of speechis
constitutionally or right to say what we please as the people of America.
To begin with, Mr. Near the publisher of The Saturday press, has created a newspaper devoted to
the corruptions of society. This one of a kind newspaper had its focus on police and government
corruption. Judges called it a nuisance , and racist, anti labor, anti sematic, and finally, anti Catholic
. Minnesota courts ended The Saturday Press from publishing any future editions.

Drafting Technology Research Paper
What is Drafting Technology exactly? The career field is such a broad description of so many
different sub fields in this area that could possibly be focused on. Drafting is an unofficial design
of an object or an idea, this can fluctuate as the project is coming along. After drafting you have
technology which can be a set of tools or a model of how something would generally function. With
that being said Drafting Technologyis exactly what is sounds like, the worker comes up with a
design or drawing of an object and then would show how that object would generally function on
an average day to day basis, so while everyone thinks that this is a career field that is meant for
very intelligent human beings it is really for anyone that has creative... Show more content on

This is a very important skill to have because when designing a blueprint for something the
employee could run into many difficulties that may not be the easiest thing to fix and that
employee would need to come up with a solution while also staying in the specific guidelines for
the project. So like I previously stated Drafting technology is a very broad description of a career
field that has many sub categories within it like: architectural, civil, electrical, and mechanical
drafting. Civil engineering is exactly what it sounds like this sub field focuses on the thing that
deal with the civil life for example they are the engineers that build bridges and buildings. Just
like civil engineers is self explanatory so is Electrical Engineering the engineers of the field
focus on everything that deals with electronics, this can range in difficulty from designing the
motherboard of a computer to designing a cell phone. The final sub field is Mechanical
Engineer, this group designs a variety of objects that can be as simple as a single part like a bolt
to the most confusing and complex assemblies like a refrigerator. Even though all of these sub
fields have different job focuses they all have the same amount of income with a range from
$121,000 to $126,000. The lowest paying sub field is the Mechanical Engineers with a Civil
Engineer being on the higher end of the

Robert Baden-Powell
Robert Baden Powell, respected veteran of many wars, General for the British Army, founder of
the scouting movement, and international spy? This question commonly surfaces when referring
the Baden Powell s book, My Adventures as a Spy, in which he writes what is sometimes
believed to be first hand accounts of his actions involving international espionage for the British
military during the time period from 1890 to 1893. He recalls many tasks assigned to him
including the collection of data on foreign military emplacements throughout the Mediterranean
counties and the French colony of Algeria. Issues begin to arise when you start digging in deeper
and comparing his own personal diary to the accounts portrayed in My Adventures as a Spy. Many
readers feel as though he glorified his involvement in international espionage prior to the start of
World War One, during the 1890s. Were his accounts authentic, or were they simply just a work of
adventurous fiction? Robert Stephenson Smyth Powell, was born February 22nd, 1857, to an
academic family, as his father was a professor at Oxford University (Hillcourt 6). Due to this
academic home environment, in 1870, at the age of thirteen, Powell began private schooling at the
well known Charterhouse in London (Hillcourt 21). It was at Charterhouse where Robert learned
the values of teamwork, as well as resourcefulness and many outdoor skills that would prove useful
in the future. After turning nineteen, Robert left Charterhouse for

Information Processing Models Essay
One of the AASL s standards for 21st century learners is [they will] inquire, think critically, and
gain knowledge and follow an inquiry based process in seeking knowledge in curricular subjects,
and make the real world connection for using this process in [his/her] own life. (ALA, 2007, p. 4)
Three research process models that help students make independent choices, ask questions, find
resources, and discover information are the Big6в„ў,Kuhlthau s Information Search Process, and I
Search. This paper will compare and contrast these models and discuss their use in teaching students
to research on their own.

and extracting relevant information. Synthesis takes into account organizing from multiple sources
and presenting the information. Finally, Evaluation entails judging the product for effectiveness
and judging the process for efficiency. (Wurster, 2011)
Librarians, teachers, and students can all benefit from the Big6в„ў process as it helps to identify
goals, hunt for, use and collect information and then reflect on that information with the
presentation of the information. Teachers and librarians benefit because they can use it at any
grade level, with any subject, with any state or national standards, and it complements any
curriculum. Students benefit because the Big6в„ў assures they understand the assignment,
complete the project, assignment, or activity, and discuss the process. In addition, students can
know if they missed a step of the process, self asses their work, recognize reliable information, cite
sources, divide an assignment into easily managed parts, and feel confident in their work. (Wurster,
2011)
Kuhlthau s Information Search Process (ISP)
A very well known research process is Kuhlthau s Information Search Process (ISP). Kuhlthau uses
six stages to present the user s physical, mental, and social view of information seeking. The stages

  • 2. Attempts To Unify The English Colonies During the colonial period, various attempts to unite the English colonies occurred. Issues arose with the promotion of unity similar to any other instances in history. The colonies desperately searched for ways they could have a more organized government, which could help them to protect themselves against attacks from foreign nations. This urge to find ways to build the strength of the colonies was directly related to the numerous taxes enforced on them by Britain. These taxes were a form of compensation for a previous representation from Britain in the French and Indian War. The interest in the establishment of unity in the colonies brought up various conversations which led to the road to unifying the nation. Although the colonies had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was known that unifying the colonies would be beneficial to every aspect which already existed or was being created within the colonies. It would provide a stronger and more organized government, which could potentially lead to the establishment of an intimidating presence to foreign nations. However, the unification of the colonies would have to also combine the issues of European immigrants with those of American Colonists in order to achieve freedom from the taxes enforced by Britain. We do by these present, solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic, for our better ordering and preservation and futherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, offices from time to time as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the colony. • 3. Claude Monet Haystacks Claude Monet was a French artist of the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. He used very gestural brush strokes in many of his painted, making them less realistic like any of the artist were doing at the time. He was thought of as the father of Impressionism. Impressionism is taking a image out of the realism skim and making it looked less real and instead more of a painting. This is done by the long and large brush strokes in many of Monet s pieces, making them an Impression of an image rather than going for a photographic look. The movement name actually came from reviewers stating that the work was an impression of an image rather than its own piece of art. This piece above Haystacks , relates to capturing the impression of a moment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This made it easy for Mondrian to make the pieces such like haystacks. The elements of the movement are color, line, and value. In the painting Monet used very bright and dark colors, and used large brushstroke lines as well. The value is seen in the darkness of the background and the brightness of the green lilies. This is also seen in many of the other pieces of impressionism in this time period. Monet employs the principles of organization through scale, emphasis, contrast, and proportion. He uses the close up scale of the haystack to show its emphasis in the piece. The contrast of the bright sky on the darker haystack is very defined as well. He used many elements of design in his piece as well. Line is a huge one; you can see the lines from the shadows, the parallel lines of the tops of the haystacks, and the landscape horizontal line as well. He also showed a ton of space since the haystacks are all on the left side, the right is a huge open space in the painting. Form is also used in the piece, considering the haystacks look 3D to the human eye. The color and value work together to create the darkness of the haystacks and shadows, and the light blue of the sky as well. Mass is the last element seen in this piece. The haystacks seem so massive in the foreground compared to the horizon in the face background of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was only when a friend introduced me to Japanese comics (or manga) three years ago that I began to realize that the synthesis of image and text could produce complex layers of meaning, which shifted from reading to reading. In Japan, mangahas spread and diversified as a dominant (almost the dominant) medium in mass culture The huge audience for manga in Japan has allowed artists to diversify into many different types, the two primary classifications being shonen boys manga and shoujo girls manga. Initially, I concentrated on buying a wide range of manga to sample rather than focusing on specific series. In this way, I acquired random volumes of series such as Gensomaden Saiyuki, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Once I got an idea of which types of manga I found most appealing, I began to focus on acquiring several volumes of a particular series. For example, I now own all of the Banana Fish volumes that have so far been translated into English. Currently, I am eager to acquire volumes of series such as Banana Fish, Paradise Kiss and Mars, which are all similar to apprentice novels or novels of awakening, in which the characters find their place in society through various experiences. I am also researching other boys love artists, such as Motoni Modoru. She borrows from several genres, including horror and Taisho period historical novels, to produce atmospheric thrillers. More generally, I would like to focus on titles that are more creative and unusual than the run of the mill boys love story. One example is the mafia thriller cum horror story Face, which I acquired last October. Lastly, the popularity of manga and Japanese animation (or anime) in America has inspired a large number of aspiring American artists to produce work that is written in English, but incorporates shoujo manga techniques of drawing and story telling. This movement has resulted in several interesting collaborations and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. IV Therapy Complications Issues Intravenous fluid therapy has been used for almost 200 years and remains a fundamental part of hospital patient care. There is always danger involved with prescribing and giving people iv fluids. The wrong administration of IV fluids such as the incorrect volume or the incorrect type of fluid could result in serious complications. Peripheral Intravenous Catheters (PIVCs) are a tool in the delivery of patient care. PIVCs enable people to have therapies such as medications, fluids and nutrition to reach patients quickly and effectively through the bloodstream. A study found a complication rate for PIVCs in place for 96 hours to be close to 50 percent. Some of the most recognized complications of PIVCs are phlebitis, occlusion, infiltration and extravasation and IV infection. Some of these complication could and in the past have caused death among patients. Many complications with IV fluids are leading up to more dangers complications. Most can be treated but they are very painful but some complications are life threatening such as deep thrombophlebitis caused by the building of a clot in a blood vessel. Some complications caused by IV therapy are very costly such as occlusion because they have to replace the catheter. Also many effects caused by IV therapy cannot be noticeable until the IV is taken off. This is very dangers because if the complication is not treated over a period of time it could evolve into something more dangers. In this project I will describe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Reason Behind The Consumer s Need For Balance Essay notion that people have a basic desire for balance in their lives (Hennig Thurau, et al., 2004). The reason behind the consumer s need to express positive emotions is that the consumer s positive consumption experiences contribute to a psychological tension inside him or her because of a strong desire to want to share the joy of the experience with someone. And also the factors driving consumers to spread positive on line customer review in online consumer opinion platforms Based on social psychology literature, they distinguished five key motivations: egoistic (e.g. the goal is to increase one s own welfare, collective (e.g. the goal is to increase the group s benefits), altruistic (e.g. voluntary increasing the welfare of individuals other than one s self), principality (e.g. the ultimate goal of upholding some moral principle, such as justice or the utilitarian principle of the greatest good for the greatest number, and knowledge self efficacy (e.g. a personal judgment of one s capability to execute actions required for designated types of performances (Cheung and Lee, 2012). The negative feelings associated with dissatisfying consumption experiences on a consumer opinion platform can serve to lessen the frustration and reduce the anxiety associated with the event. • 13. Symbolism In Flawed And Perfect By Cecelia Ahern In the book series, Flawed and Perfect by Cecelia Ahern, the setting is set in the future where everyone stays between the lines. There are two groups in this society: there are those who are perfect which make up most of the population, and there are those who are flawed. Flawed people are treated poorly and are forced to follow much stricter guidelines because they had done something that society no longer accepted. Celestine is one of the few who decide to do what is right even if it is against what others think. Celestine decides that she would nicely go ask the young ladies to move so that the sick old man is able to sit in a seat. These ladies refused and questioned if she is helping a flawed which is a crime. Celestine then helps the man to an open seat and the author states, There s an audible gasp in the bus. I look around at everyone, the judgmental faces of surprise. (Ahern Flawed 47). This is significant because she was the only one on the bus willing to stand up for the sick old man. This is the first time in this book series that the readers actually see a character who doesn t follow the rest of the society and is willing to step out of the lines to do what is right. She is a character who does not ignore the people around her and is not solely focused on just herself. Celestine shows the theme because she shows care for another person even though the rest of the views of the society she lives in wouldn t dare think about it. Certainly, it can be said that Celestine is not trying to do the right thing, but is choosing to just rebel against society. While this is a good point, it fails to show that the old man who she helped was in fact dying and Celestine was just trying to assist the flawed man into a seat. She was not trying to show that she could rebel, but just to do the right thing for an elder on the bus. Where this logic seems to let down is when the author describes ... Irish Monasticism And Celtic Christianity Your Holiness, It has come to my attention that you will be returning to the United States and will be giving a sermon in Boulder Colorado on 5th through 6th century Irish monasticism and Celtic Christianity. I would like to assist you in this task by relaying the information I have come to understand through my studies on the topic. Medieval Irish monasticism and Celtic Christianityis important and of interest for a number of reasons. More specifically, the monastic influence on present day private penance, their ability to easily adapt and re imagine and reinvent the Celtic culture and pre existing Druidic religion into an organized network of Christian institutions, and the obedience and spiritual strength possessed by Irish monks and... We also would not have such a rich spirituality and communal strength that we do if St. Patrick and other medieval Irish monks and nuns had not been able to transform and reimage the Druidic religion. It is for this amalgamation of practices that we Western Christians have the current understanding of the importance of spirituality, prayer and divinity. If St. Patrick had not been able to convince the tribal leaders of the power of God as well as establishing structured and organized monastic communities then perhaps the Celts would have never been converted. • 21. How Japan Became a Successful Empire Essay By 1905 Japan had become a military power capable of carving out an empire for itself. Japan did this by the Meiji Restoration, the Sino Japanese War and the Anglo Japanese alliance + Russo Japanese War. Firstly, Japan was dramatically changed after the Meiji Restoration in 1868. The Meiji Restoration was a political uprising which ended the era of ruling of the Tokugawa shogun and gave back power to the emperor Meiji. When the emperor returned to his position as ruler, Japan was the complete opposite of a military power, it relied on its farm land and had made very few technological advances. This small act nearly broke into a full blown war between china and japan but was resolved by signing a treaty that stated that both japan and china had to withdraw their military from Korea and notify Korea if they were any military movements. Yet in 1894 Korea had an uprising and both china and japan sent in their military and when the incident was resolved japan would not withdraw their military. This cause china to fight back but ended with an easy victory for japan because of its more modernized military. By winning this war Japan was able to increase their military power and start becoming a powerful empire. Also, Japan was able to expand their military power and become a powerful empire through the Anglo Japanese Alliance which led to the Russo Japanese war. The Anglo Japanese Alliance which happened between the years of 1902 to 1923 was a set of three treaties. These treaties were signed just before World War one and stated that Great Britain and Japan would have to help each other in protecting their various interests in Korea and china against Russia. Your research not only provides you ethos as a writer by revealing your knowledge and understanding of the topic, but also will very likely shape both your understanding and interpretation of the topic. Listed below are several important tips for conducting research and notetaking: * In order to avoid later confusion, begin each section by recording the author s name, book or article title, and page numbers (if relevant). * As you examine each source, record important or unique notions which you may wish to incorporate within your paper. Make certain to outline the general arguments of each source by including a descriptive heading after the citation. This will aid you in more quickly and easily distinguishing between sources in the future. Additionally, it may be useful to group sources into categories based on more refined topics. * In order to diminish the risk of plagiarizing, do NOT directly lift phrasing or entire segments of the text from sources without properly indicating that you have done so. If you find it necessary to directly quote an author, clearly indicate what has been copied from the author and record the page number on which this information can be found. * Remain critical of your sources: Do not assume that an idea or criticism is valid, because it appears in the argument of a single critic or even multiple ... INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A new 1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was officially put into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar program, the implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested by the World Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability, and robustness of Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries with similar pension schemes. The focus will mostly be on the new program JPN, and to a lesser extent, the old Jamsostek program Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). DB AND DC SCHEMES Indonesia has both of these schemes implemented in the pension system. Both schemes cover only the formal sector. DC (Jaminan Hari Tua) Prior to the 2015 reform, Indonesia s DC system was abused by contributors by withdrawing the balance long before the maturity of the fund/retirement . A reform was made so that the minimum contributory period was 10 years and a large part of the balance cannot be withdrawn until participants reach retirement age. The story of Corrie ten Boom, a Polish holocaust victim, and two homeschooled friends I know with cerebral palsy prove this point in many ways. In the mid eighteenth century, World War II brought chaos and genocide into center stage in the world arena. Jews were being torn from their homes and sent to concentration camps, where they would either die instantly or be made to work under unthinkably brutal conditions. Corrie ten Boom, a middle aged Polish woman, worked together with her whole family to help hide Jews in a secret room in her house. Once the operation was revealed to Nazi authorities, however, most of the ten Booms were shipped off to concentration camps where they suffered isolation, humiliation, starvation, and severe physical and emotional pain. Pornography is one of the most widely disputed of these topics, and has long caused controversy among feminists. Two clear, and distinctly different, sides have been taken by Andrea Dworkin as well as Linda Williams. The former of these two academics has taken the presumably more controversial stance. Dworkin is known for their radical stance that pornographyonly paints women as whores, as that is how they are seen in a male dominated world. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This quote demonstrates not only Williams understanding of female agency but also that female sex workers often exist in contrast to some feminists. Moreover, Williams does acknowledge female passivity in traditional porn: Women, on the other hand, like slaves and boys, were the passive penetrated, who did not move, who were fucked, and who had no power to abstain (Williams, 368). Contrastingly to Dworkin, Williams acknowledges how pornography has changed from its conception, both in terms of how it is produced, as well as how the women are valued and portrayed in the industry, as she follows the story of Annie Sprinkle. It is the opinion of this author that Williams more accurately represents pornography than Dworkin. Based on the opinions of many authors explored in this unit, it would seem that the terms pornography and feminism could be considered antonyms. I am sure that many anti pornography feminists would sooner turn over in their graves before deciding that the two could be correlated. But is that necessarily true? I personally believe that aspects of feminism can be found everywhere, and can be applied in the strangest of places. It is for this reason that I believe that pornography has the capability to be feminist, though it rarely is. In its creation, women certainly were passive members who had no agency in their participation nor the consumption of pornography. Pornography was kept hidden and censored out of ... Homelessness is one of the oldest problems that exist, fast forward almost 40 years since it s been recognized as one and still there has been no avail to finding a real solution. The definition of homelessness under the McKinney Vento Homelessness Assistance Act is defined as an individual: who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence; and a person who has a nighttime residence that is supervised publicly or privately operated shelter, and c) an institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized, or a private or public place not designed for, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings. Homelessness is basically another form of poverty except more extreme, yet society treats it as if it was on another spectrum of problems. Some in society stigmatize this population by saying things like: they re homeless because they are drug addicts, alcoholics, they don t want to work and just live off the government for free. What many forget to think about are the factors that have these people on the street, or the fact that they are not only experiencing personal hardship by being without a permanent residence but emotional ones as well. Another factor is social environment, which can effect a person depending on whether or not their environment is more stressful than others. Differential susceptibility is another factor meaning that physical appearance or height could gain you more benefits over a shorter person who is less attractive. A very important factor is individual lifestyle. This includes a person s diet and physical activity and research shows that those who live in a safe neighborhood get more exercise than those who live in an unsafe neighborhood. Chivukula was a biotechnology major and Ramaswamy has a masters in nanotechnology. Their experiment tested to see if Rosa Chineses plant growth was effected by music or sound in their surroundings. They chose to run this experiment because they believed it would be beneficial to understand the growth of a plantand how its surroundings may affect it. For this experiment that took thirty bulbs from one mother Rosa plants and separated them into five groups. One group was the controlled group and the other four were given a certain type of music to grow with, rock, Western classical, Indian classical, and verdic chants. These plants were exposed to this music for sixty minutes in the morning between 6:00 AM 7:00 AM, immediately after sun rise for a period of sixty two days. They made sure that each group was given the same of water, sunlight and blockage from ambient noise. This experiment did not have as much background information as the other source but gave similar results. The plants exposed to Indian classical, Vedic chants, and Western classical grew much more than silence and even more than rock. Rock in the experiment seemed to hurt the plants, similar to Retallack s results. The image above are the results of the Chineses experiment. • 46. Demographic Trends Of The Demographic Transition Model The demographic transition model shows historical population trends of two demographic characteristics such as birth rate and death rate. (Grover, D. 2014). In 1929 a demographic observer named Warren Thompson decided to make a chart that showed transitions in death and birth rates changed in an industrialized society of the last two hundred years. (Montgomery, K. 2015). The demographic model shows if populationincreased or decreased in all countries due to their economy stability. If there were countries with high death and birth rate, what the factors that contributed to the high or low rates such as not enough food, or what diseases people were getting to make those rates increase. There are four phases of demographic transition. Stage 1 is known as the Pre transition stage. This is characterized by birth rates, and high fluctuating death rates. Stage 2 is known as the Early Transition stage. During this stage rate begins to fall, while the birth rates remain high, and the population begins to grow. Stage 3 is known as the Late Transition stage. In this stage birth rate starts to decline, and the population growth begins to decline. Stage 4 is known as the Post Transition stage. In this stage there is low birth and death rate, and population also declines. According to demographers, the factors that lead to a decline in CDR during stage 2 and stage 3 of the demographic transition stages was high birth rate, which mean the population ... • 47. Example Of The Lemon Case The Lemon Case Yazan Deiry Schiller International University Introduction An offer, according to business law, is an expression that an individual is willing to enter into a contract, provided specific terms are adhered to and as soon as it is accepted it ultimately becomes binding by the person with whom this offer has been addressed to (Riches Allen, 2013). To form an agreement, there has to be an offer by a party, an exchange of thought or consideration (an item of value), and an acceptance by the other party. The individual that proposes the agreement terms makes the offer, and is referred to as the offeror within the contract or agreement law while the individual to whom the proposal or offer is made is called the offeree (Llewellyn, 2013). This case study describes a situation where an individual owned a new cell phone that gave him a lot of trouble. The court granted the lawyer a rescission of the contract on the grounds that the man was influenced to enter into a contract by means of false representation. Although there was a significant amount of progress for African American civil rights by 1960, there were still problems to be dealt with: only 800,000 out of 20 million black people were registered to vote in 1963, although it was a slowly rising number; in 1962, President Kennedy signed an executive order to end discrimination in federal housing construction, but there were still black ghettos in cities such as Chicago, Detroit and New York. The Governor of Arkansas, Orval E. Eisenhower later put the 10,000 troopers of the Arkansas National Guard under federal control the same troops that barred the way now ended up keeping white protesters back and escorting the black children into the school. • 49. The Effect Of Heat And Calorimeter On The Heat Capacity Introduction/ Abstract: As a metal was being heated, the temperature was changing by increasing the heat capacity. The change of the temperature depended on how much heat was supplied to the metal and the mass, which could make a difference based on the object being heated. With that said, the purpose of this experiment, which covered the concepts of heatand calorimeter, was to measure the specific heat of a metal and to compare the experimental result to the theoretical value of same metal. Theory: The relevant theoretical concept and equation used in this experiment were: ∆Q = change in the quantity of heat m = mass of the object ∆T = change in temperature C = heat capacity Heat capacity, C, is the quantity of heat needed to raise the system s temperature by one degree. ∵∆Q = C∆T в€ ґC = ∆Q ∆T The specific heat, c, of a solid or liquid is to raise the temperature of the substance to some value which means the the quantity of heat needed to raise the the temperature of a particular substance, a fixed a mount for a given unit mass. c = Cm The specific heat of a material can be calculated by combining the above equations to give, c= ∆Qm ∆T Using conservation of energy, the heat lost by the metal was the same as the one gained by the water/calorimeter system, mmcm (Tmi в€’ Tf) = mwcw ( Tfв€’ Tw ) + mccc (Tfв€’ Tw ) where we have assumed that the whole system has the same final temperatureTf and cm was the specific heat of the metal. mm = The mass of the metal shot ... The majority of her real and personal property was left to her children, while friends and other relatives received legacy gifts. Because they predeceased the testator and no alternative beneficiaries were stated for their gifts, one must look to see if there is an applicable Stage 2 anti lapse statute. Under both Stage 2 and Stage 3 majority rules, anti lapse statutes do not protect friends ; therefore the gifts would fail. He recalls many tasks assigned to him including the collection of data on foreign military emplacements throughout the Mediterranean counties and the French colony of Algeria. Issues begin to arise when you start digging in deeper and comparing his own personal diary to the accounts portrayed in My Adventures as a Spy.
