The Analysis Of The Deepwater Horizon Study Group
BP leadership along with partners did not have proper governance and process to evaluate the
risk that they are willing to take. The employee at every level does not know how much risk to
take nor did any corporate policy exist to guide them. Having zero risk tolerance and zero safety
defects in these complex operations ensure there are no human losses. The analysis of the
Deepwater Horizon Study Group (2011) (p.11) shows that the leadership was concerned about how
much money was spent in excess and did not address previous violations or preventive steps.
Instead of downplaying, BP could have accessed the situation, analyzed, and communicated just
before and after the explosions from an organizational behavior perspective. Communication is an
important tool and basic needs of any organization to effectively discuss or write to their employees,
clients, external vendors, and the government to govern internal process and enhance its customer
experiences. Communication Employees communicate with each other for effectively carrying out
corporate responsibilities. As Robbins and Judge (2014) explains employee shares and conveys
ideas and information through communication using four of its major functions such as control,
motivation, emotional expression and information (p. 299). The offshore oil drilling job is
complex and needs engineering expertise. BP had undertaken deep water oil drilling at the
Macondo well using the Transocean offshore oil rig. It is expected that BP and

Even the Internet focuses on health a recent Google search revealed over 46,000,000 Web sites
related to the terms nutrition advice. Americans report that they do indeed use the media as a
source of information about nutrition, and that television (72%) and magazines (58%) are relied
upon more often for nutritional guidance than are family and friends (17%). (The American
Dietetic Association, http://www.eatright.org) At the same time, many adults also feel that the
media contain information that is often confusing and contradictory. In one recent study, adults
who reported more confusion and skepticism about nutrition messages in the media also were more
likely to eat a fat laden diet.( Patterson RE, Satia JA, Kristal AR, Neuhouser ML, Drewnowski A,
2001) The authors of the study speculated that the proliferation of media information may be
contributing to a nutrition backlash among certain subgroups of people. 2. Communication

Wall Street Essay
How is the audience positioned to see Gordon Gekko in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps?
The film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps follows the story of Jacob Moore, his partner Winnie
Gekko, and her estranged father Gordon Gekko. Director Oliver Stone uses not only
characterisation but also film techniques and symbolism to position the audience to see a certain
character. The film is set in New York in the year 2008 and is set out so it will connect with the
audience of today. The storyline of the film is based around Gordon Gekko, his family and his
criminal history. Gekko is a stock broker who had previously been sent to prison for eight years
after being accused of securities fraud and insider trading. Seven years later he releases a ... Show

The camera is positioned behind Gordon and in his reflection you can see that he is thoughtful
about his decision. He then changes his mind about Jacob s proposition and asks Winnie for
forgiveness, which leads to a change in their relationship.
In the film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010), director Oliver Stone has positioned the
audience to see Gordon Gekko as a wealthy and very powerful character but also a character with
the desire to change who he is to have a positive future. When Gordon is talking to Jacob and the
university students he is seen to be very powerful and a strong character but when Winnie is
talking to Gordon they are seen to be of the same power. Over the course of the movie, the theme of
change is portrayed when the relationship between Winnie and Gordon is mended. Stone also used
film techniques to show the changing behaviour in Gordon when he sees his unborn

Taking a Look at Television Broadcasting
In many cases, it is safe to say that television broadcasting has polished the narrow mindedness of
an imperative individual to either antagonize a supreme man running for presidency or be his
very back bone in the process of voting. As airing prominent speeches made by powerful political
figures can get one simple idea of justice to more than half the nation as it stands, it can create a
strained society in which one will seem to manipulate the others aspect of just, and in return will
call for protests. In the favor of qualifying that television broadcast has been both deleterious and
accommodating to vote percentages, sources A, B, and F help to embellish the main points
fabricated in this essay. As of now, in twenty first century, broadcasting
has been very popular and it
only seems to give birth to new forms of idea that can be compressed into what the media has to
portray. Media, even in a history not so far away from our past have engendered the idea of
setting powerful people to defend why they should be elected as president. Broadcasting, even in
our not so long ago history has took the initiative to display one man sitting in office to half the
nation The advent of television in the late 1940 s gave rise to the belief that a new era was
opening in public communication...its wide geographic distribution and impact, provides a new,
direct, and sensitive link between Washington and the people (Source A). In the source showcased

Analyzing The Roller Coaster Problem
Roller Coasters
The problem that I chose was the roller coaster problem. The question is, how would there be a way
to rate how amusing a roller coaster is? I picked this problem because if I were to really get
involved in the research, I would go and ride all the roller coasters myself, which sounds like a
blast. While I was either researching or riding the roller coasters, I would still have to go through
some steps.
First, I would have to define the problem, which would be how would math be used to figure out a
way to rate a roller coaster. After I knew what I was looking for, I would make assumptions about
what people like to see in a roller coaster. I would assume that most people like loops, so if it had a
loop it would get a higher

Analysis Of How A Woman Can Get Hurt By Jean Kilbourne
Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt , an article by Jean Kilbourne bitterly rags on sex in
advertisement. It goes into detail to describe how companies have become increasingly more
likely to sell sex in advertisements for products that, in reality, are entirely unrelated. Kilbourne
focuses primarily on how this is harmful to society especially women and children and how they
are viewed by men, though men may also be targeted if not nearly as frequently. In a similar article
called Taking a Bite Out of Twilight, Carmen D. Siering shares her disapproval of the popular
novel adored by so many: Twilight. Represented by the iconic red apple held in a women s palm
with a sinister black backdrop, Twilight is a modern fairytale where the prince belongs to a
monstrous society of blood sucking models, and the princess is your average, plain Jane
highschool girl with a knack for getting into trouble. Siering s opinion is most basically this:
Bella is objectified and downgraded in the Twilight series; a character created solely to
compliment the plot propelled by male characters. Where the majority of the population sees an
aching, beautiful and dangerous romance, Siering sees a controlling relationship and a dull female
lead. Kilbourne s article brings to light how Siering s article, directed at Stephenie Meyers readers,
is so accurate with the the recommendation that everyone become more aware of the messages
they are absorbing from media as it snakes its way into society s

This was not an issue that was faced by the natives of Great Britain at the time, but was
something that the colonies had to deal with as a constant in the colonies. The Stamp Act, The
Sugar Act and The Quartering Act were all examples of the Monarchy imposing tax after tax,
and the caldron of discontent began to boil. The Boston Tea party perpetrated by the Sons of
Liberty, led by John Adams in 1793 was in protest which destroyed an entire shipment of tea
delivered by the East India Trading company was a non violent protest to the Tea Act. As the
taxes grew, the anger grew within the colonies and spilled out on to the streets in bloody
confrontation such as the Boston Massacre. Years of conflict with royal officials , combined with
a growing population of poor and under employed, had made Boston the most radical and united
spot in the colonies . The repeated attempts of the British government to enforce its legislation
increased pressure on Boston and led finally to revolution . (Oakes et al., 2015, pp.

High Level Of Social Cohesion
Currently, there has been growing importance of social cohesion all over the world. A cohesive
society is where people are safe against nay life risks, are trustful to their neighbors and
governmental institutions, and can have potential power to make better future for themselves
and their families (OECD, 2011). High level of social cohesion helps people can participate in
their civil right more positively and create opportunities for upward mobility, as well as it is a

Building A Wireless Infrastructure Backbone System
Introduction
Currently much importance is given to optimizing business without affecting the production and
process. When a new distribution centre s build or an existing one is being upgraded with a
warehouse management system, a wireless network structure should be provided which need to be
regarded as the integral part of the process. This is an important part because connection issues may
arise due to lack in connectivity without wireless connection. Eventually this will impact the data
collection capabilities from other floors, mostly form the ground to top floor (Lu, W., Giannikas,
V., McFarlane, D., Hyde, J. (2014). A wireless networkinfrastructure building starts with a design
and then with a map which will describe the mapping of the wireless access points. It also needs to
create a plan for installing the cable which will run throughout the distribution centre. The reason
behind this planning is to build a wireless infrastructure backbone that will be implemented and
which can have the capability to support the whole planning in the distribution centre. To get proper
wireless signals throughout the premises a well planning of the wireless system is essential along
with successful implementation.
Planning and Implementation
Although it sound very easy to implement the whole process but the reality is that it involves lot of
elements and components which need to be taken care of while project implementation. Plenty of

GDP In The United States
GDP is used as an indicator to know how the economy is doing in a specific year. If GDP rises,
we assume that the economy is growing and vice versa, but is it really taking into account all the
factors necessary to estimate the well being of our economy? This has been a controversial issue
for decades, because some people believe that GDP leaves many factors out when calculating the
welfare of the economy, such as income distribution, environmental sustainability, and non market
transactions.
First we need to define what is GDP and how is it measured. According to Chan (2013) GDP is a
measure of the output of all final goods and services produced in the United States of America in a
given year. Now, GDP can be measured in two ways: by adding... Show more content on

This is really worrying, because GDP misses a lot of factors that affect in the standard of living
of people. For example, GDP only focuses in what is being produced, but does not worries how
this product are being produced and why they are produced that way, so many companies to
lower the cost of production, use unsafe methods that end up producing harm to the earth. An
example of these are the companies that use coal to make electricity. The amount of pollution
they expel into the nature is really high. According to Carrington (2015), ВЁThe International
Energy Agency calculates that one in four of these sub critical plants must close within five
years, if the world s governments are to keep their pledge to limit global warming to 2CВЁ. This
problem not only affects the environment, but also has an effect on people s lives. The quality of
life of the society as a whole is lowered because of the pollution, people may suffer from cancer
or respiratory diseases. And if the production of electricity gets higher then GDP also rises, but
the quality of life is getting lower. It also does not consider non market transactions, an example
being when you hire someone to tutor your child in math, GDP takes into account this
transaction and therefore GDP rises, but what if you do on your own? Many people complain
about this, because in this case GDP does not take into account what is being measured. Also
volunteering work is not included in the GDP. But it does not end there, any transaction made in
the black market, because is not reported, it s left out. As mentioned before, GDP do not take in
to consideration the distribution of income in society, as a consequence of this GDP cannot
distinguish if the GDP is rising for good reasons like more investment or more income, or for bad
reasons. Therefore the inequality in society is not projected in the

Quilt Definition
An object that represents home to me is a quilt hand sewn by my grandmother as it is an
objectified collective memory of home. This quilt may be a common domestic object that is seen
in every household, but to me, it is a powerful connection of the home, which reminds me of my
family s comfort, care and affection. Henceforth, Home is an objectified as a metaphorical
embodiment of memory and relationships with my family(Morley, 2000)
Home as a place of feminine of comfort and care
Quilting has been a kind of litmus test of traditional femininity that has been practiced by
generations of Chinese women to gift quilt to their daughters or granddaughters as an object that
signifies home, so my grandmother sewn a personalised quilt for me as a memorabilia.

Arguments Against Ethical Relativism In The Bible
As you have essentially mentioned, because moral absolutes are true, ethical relativism is false.
Namely, the arguments against ethical relativism are weak. Primarily, your argument used the
Bible. As a Bible believer, I agree with your statements: the Bible argues for moral absolutes rather
than ethical relativism. For instance, the Ten Commandments are true for anyone and the God s
standards are absolute. However, anyone who is skeptical concerning the Bible would not view the
Scriptures as a credible source to argue against ethical relativism. Therefore, knowing and presenting
arguments that do not derive from the Bible would be beneficial. One beneficial method would be
scrutinizing two prime forms of ethical relativism: moral subjectivism and cultural relativism.
These two have shortcomings in their arguments. The former form, moral subjectivism, basically
argues that moralityis whatever one perceives, whereas the latter, cultural relativism, states that the
culture dictates morality for that culture. With the former, one who believes... Show more content on

This is absurd. In addition, subjective morality is inherently logically contradictory since, for
instance, if a person believes that subjective morality is immoral, subjective morality appears to be
immoral and not viable. An apparent stronger form of ethical relativism is cultural relativism since,
as Michael Scott Jones wrote, Cultural relativism is more metaphysical than is moral subjectivism,
which is more epistemological in nature. Therefore, in moral subjectivism, one merely perceives
morality, and in cultural relativism, the culture dictates the reality of morality. In spite of cultural
relativism providing a stronger form of ethical relativism than moral subjectivism, cultural
relativism ultimately fails. A weak argument for cultural relativism is that because a diverse
morality appears to exist in the world, cultural relativism must be true.

Everything Changes By Marina Keegan Analysis
Everything Changes The Opposite of Loneliness spoke to me in a way that let me know that
everyone is scared of the future. The author is telling her audience that she is scared of the fact
that when she leaves Yale she may not ever feel the web of safety that she feels there when she
graduates. Everyone always hears about how college is the best years of their lives but why? Is it
because of the late night talks? The stress? The parties? The structure? Or the safety net? Imagery
The author (Marina Keegan) did an amazing job at putting imagery in her speech. One of the best
imagery examples that she put into the speech is when she talks about how when she went to Est

She not only uses words to describe how she feels but she also pauses in between some words
and phrases to add emotion to her speech. She describes how she feels by saying, We don t have
a word for the opposite of loneliness, not if we did, I d say that s how I feel at Yale. How I feel
right now. Here. With all of you. In love, impressed, humbled, scared. And we don t have to lose
that. By Keegan putting that pauses in this part of her speech makes her audience feel a sense of
awareness of how everything will end up okay and how they don t have to worry about the future.
This quote makes her audience feel not only confident about the future but also excited knowing
that they will all be there for each other. Context Keegan uses context to show what her speech is
mainly directed for. After reading her speech it is easy to understand what she is writing her
speech for. She is writing her speech at her graduation at Yale. She basically spells the context out
for the listener when she says when we wake up tomorrow after Commencement and leave. By her
saying leaving it lets the audience know that she is writing this speech for graduating because of the
fact that Commencement is something that happens after graduation. She also lets the audience
know that she is making her speech for graduation other ways. Keegan talks about her past when
she says that she wishes she would have done somethings

What Does Granny Weatherall Represent
Granny Weatherall faces complex emotions derived from her past and unrehearsed arrival upon
death exemplified through symbolism and imagery. Granny Weatherall s past drives her life
because she cannot seem to let go of it. Through this constant remorse for herself she creates a sad
and sorrowful character shown through two foiling symbols light and dark. In most cases light
always trumps darkness but Granny Weatherall lives her life through memories of rejection and
abandonment, giving darkness the strength to act as a tyrant. Granny Weatherall has, wounded

Merger Between Daimler And Chrysler
The merger between Daimler and Chrysler was expected to be a success in the economy especially
with the current trend and demand in the automotive sector. Daimler is considered one of the most
successful and profitable automotive companies across the globe. Founded in 1893 as the Daimler
Motor Syndicate Ltd, its growth and expansion in the automotive sector has been facilitated by the
need to meet the interests and needs of its key stakeholders (Barnard, 1998). The vehicles that are
manufactured by the company are of high standard and the quality is top notch. Most of its
customers are concerned with the satisfaction level that they achieve when they purchase the motor
vehicles. The implementation of the luxurious car segment meant that the trend in the economy has
considerably changed and there was need for improving the brand image and the superiority of the
products offered.
According to Barnard (1998), Daimler s merger with Chrysler was undertaken due to the need to
expand its operations and initiatives across the globe. Chrysler is considered one of the smallest
automobiles sectors when it is considered with the three biggest U.S. automakers, which includes
Ford and General Motors. Understanding the trend in the economy, the company implemented its
operations in the North American market with the intention of tapping on the mass market that was
available in the region.
The two companies had distinct motives and objectives for undertaking merger. Daimler s objective

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine system disorder, also a hormonal condition
in which the ovaries are enlarged with very small cysts on the outer edges. The hormonal
imbalance creates problems in the ovaries. The ovaries make the egg that is released each month
as part of a healthy menstrual cycle. With PCOS, the egg may not develop as it should or it may
not be released during ovulation as it should be. The enlarged ovaries may be filled with small
collections of fluid called follicles that can be detected through a thorough ultrasound. PCOS
causes a woman s hormones to be out of balance. It can also cause problems with a woman s
monthly period and it can even contribute to the difficulty for a woman to get pregnant. Knowing...

All of these can worsen with obesity. Every woman with PCOS may be affected a little
differently. To be diagnosed with PCOS a woman s doctor looks for at least two of the following
conditions; irregular periods, excess androgen, or polycystic ovaries. Polycystic ovary syndrome
signs and symptoms often start soon after a woman first begins having periods. In some cases,
PCOS develops later during the reproductive years. Symptoms of PCOS start gradually over time.
Symptoms can include several menstrual problems. These can include few or no menstrual periods
or heavy, irregular bleeding. Hair loss from the scalp and hair growth on the face, chest, back,
stomach, thumbs, or toes. Acne and oily skin. Fertility problems, such as not releasing an egg or
repeat miscarriages. Insulin resistance and too much insulin, which can cause things like upper
body obesity and skin tags. Depression or mood swings. Breathing problems while sleeping.
Polycystic ovary syndrome treatment focuses on management of woman s main concerns such as
infertility, hirsutism, acne or obesity. Most treatments are medicines prescribed by a woman s
doctor. To regulate a menstrual cycle, a doctor may recommend combination birth control pills, pills
that contain both estrogen and progestin. These birth control pills decrease androgen production
and give your body a break from the effects of continuous estrogen, lowering your risk of

The Musical Taste Is Subjective
Musical taste is subjective. Everyone has a different musical preference that depends on their age,
where they live, where they are from, what mood they are in, and so on. For example, according
to an interview with Freddy Matt who is a college student in New Jersey, I listen to music, which is
pop music, when I get bored, or when I want to be relaxed. Otherwise, usually I do not listen to
music (Matt). According to another interview with bar patron Tom Hunk, who is 35 years old, I
listen to music for fun. Friday and Saturday night, I do go to a bar in order to let myself go (Hunk).
These examples show that people listen to music with different purposes. On the other hand, people
listen music when they do sports such as running, weight lifting, walking, playing tennis, etc. Even
though they live in the same community, their perspective on music is different.
I have been living in Bergen County for two years, and I really want to explore our county s
musical culture. In order to look for the musical life and culture in Bergen County, I searched for
some musical stores and locations that are being used for live music. When I was searching for
venues, I found that many hired house bands, which gives us the opportunity of experiencing live
performance. For example, Dodo Orchestra is one of them. According to gigmasters.com: Dodo

The Effects Of News Media On Today s Society
The news media s role in today s society is interlocked and essential to the conveying of
information. The news media has access to television broadcasting and has people to go find
stories to broadcast. However, as time has progressed, the news media has become more and more
opinionated. Consequently, the bias of the news media in their reporting s has tainted the opinions
of the American people. By creating a strict set of laws pertaining to the reporting of news, bias
within reports will have to decrease; causing a less opinionated audience, people feeling better about
themselves and humanity, and the United Statesgrowth as a stronger country.
The news media in today s world is far too opinionated. On a regular basis, the news media and
other news outlets are often discussing opinions, their own opinions, and other s opinions about
stories and news reports rather than the reports themselves. During a discussion about Donald
Trump s immigration policy on August 25th, 2016, on the CNN newsroom, one of the reporters
said that we heard this shift on his immigration policy. However, one of the other reporters
defended Mr. Trump by saying. First, let me correct the record and goes on to do so and they
argue back and forth (Person Discusses). In this report, what Donald Trump said nor any part of
his speech was shared. The report was wholly opinion based. Although, the news media will share
clips and snips of stories in many of their stories.

Helen Keller faced a lot of adversity and obstacles in her life. But she got through it. Everyone

Panchito, a young kid who belongs to a family of migrant workers, struggles having to leave his
homes everytime the harvest ends. This leads him to not having many friendships, missing school
very often, and not always having the greatest sleeping quarters. The shed they were given at the
new place wasn t great, but it was something, and they were grateful for it. When Panchitos
parents finally agreed that he could go to school again, he was very happy. At this new school he

people to do the work. Following that, not only did panchito show remarkable characteristics, his
family did as well. Once Panchitos mom found a landowner willing to take them in, she was so
grateful. The shelter they were given was a garage with termite ridden walls and a dirt floor, but

Zoo Observation Essay
Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Los Angeles zoo on a beautiful, sunny Thursday
(October 19th). Although I arrived off schedule which left a minimal amount of time to observe
primates, I managed my time well. After being told that the larger animals get put away earlier,
I figured my first stop would be at an ape enclosure. The ape I chose to see that day was the
gorilla. The time that I began my observation was at approximately 3:05. At that time only one
ape was quite visible and he was sitting at the front making eye contact with me making it seem
as if he is HABITUATED. Next, post gorilla watching, I had the chance to take a gander at the
ring railed lemurs at 3:40. These prosimians all had their own personalities which interested me
deeply. Lastly, and certainly not least on my journey through the LA zoo, I had the chance of
looking at the mandrills which were once classified as baboons. Considering that two baby
mandrills were present and only a month old, this was my favorite exhibit to see because of
their high energy and randomness of actions. Beginning with the most intelligent of the bunch,
the (western lowland) gorillas I observed were quite inactive. This is certainly so because they
are known to only be hunted by man leaving no competition outside of their own species. This
fact makes it apparent why these kings of the jungle sit around so often. In the wild and even in
zoos it may be difficult for a male to find mates because groups of gorillas are POLYGYNOUS.
So usually one male is the father of all of the offspring. Being this way, male gorillas must
display DOMINANCE over others and even stand their ground against an incoming male that
may threaten the family. Going back to how they sit all day, gorillas are able to do this because
they don t even have to move to replenish energy for the reason that they are grass and leaf eaters
(vegetarians). Not having to move very much makes gorillas capable of having a low quality diet.
Moving forward, ring tailed lemurs showed the greatest amount of ALTRUISM. They kindly
groomed each other for an extensive amount of time, showing a great bond between one another.
Also, their ability to move quickly and jump high showed off their MOTOR

Rhetorical Analysis Of Jonathan Ruch The Devil s Advocate
Jonathan Rauch, while making it obvious that prejudice is one of the worst things about society
today, he explains that it lies within us all. It is in fact, inherent. To believe that someone is
prejudice, means you re prejudice. There s no escaping it. He starts off his piece by addressing the
ad populum argument for the eradication of prejudice, stating The war on prejudice is now, in all
likelihood, the most uncontroversial social movement in America. , thing is about this statement,
this is what is making his piece relevant, because everyone is accepting this movement blindly,
without realizing what they are doing. Although, prejudice offers a chance to eliminate ignorance.

But to make such points, Rauch uses rhetorical devices to inform the reader with said facts. Such
as an unbiased, informative expression of facts and logical conclusions drawn from them. He
also provides many examples and scenarios relevant to the enlightened view of prejudice itself.
He tries and succeeds on appealing to the logical of everyone, bringing up past pleasantries and
discussing how pretty much everyone embraces or tolerates demeaning or hurtful words that
attack the identity of a person (i.e. a racial slur). He is not denying that prejudice statements can
hurt, but his argument is that they are not violent, in fact, they are merely jokes without any real
intention of hurting anyone. Rauch also draws general sympathy through providing examples of
people being persecuted because of simply being who they are. But what really keeps the
attention of the reader is his use of parallelism and antithesis. An example being his statement God
hates homosexuals is a statement of fact, not of bias, to those who believe it; American criminals
are disproportionately black is a statement of bias, not of fact, to those who disbelieve it. It also
shines a light on how oxymoronic this nature of offensive speech is. Overall, Rauch does not come
off as overly bias. But he utilizes it to cancel out other biases made throughout the

Clowns Coulrophobia
Coulrophobia. That is the word for an excessive fear of clowns. While I don t think there are a
lot of people who suffer from clown phobia, there are many people who just don t like them.
Clowns have been around for ages and appear in most cultures in varying forms. From court
jesters and mimes to rodeo and circus clowns their primary purpose was to make people laugh.
To provide comic relief. Somewhere along the line clowns became dark. Facebook even has an I
Hate Clowns page with some 400,000 followers! Is it because clowns always possessed a certain
sadness. Were they always just mirroring humanity with all our imperfections or was it something
else? I m not sure, but clownphobia did not seem so prevalent prior to the IT movie in 1990. IT was
based on Stephen Kings 1986 novel of the same title and both the book and movie instilled a fear
into what seems like an entire generation of kids. In the novel, Stephen King s IT was about a
demon who feeds on fear. IT was banished to earth and wakes every 27 to 30 years to terrorize
kids and feast upon their flesh, which tastes better to him when they are afraid. He can take any
form but uses the clown because children are more easily frightened than adults. In the novel the
clown is evil, alien, and other worldly. Something timeless and ageless, something eternal that can
be stopped for a while but not destroyed. The portrayal of Pennywise in the original movie did not

Family Formation And Structure Of The Nuclear Family
Combining the multitude of factors that contribute to family formation and structure parallels to
mixing ingredients to make a soup that does not always come out with the same taste, as even with

family can greatly differ from another. The ideology of the nuclear familyshape clashed with my
family s more extended and traditional family structure, and upon arrival to the United States from
Korea, initially resulted in opaque gendered behavior and thinking along with muddled male and
female constructs. As the family s stay continued, the idea and shape of the nuclear family began to
whittle away at my grandparents and father s initial ideals, albeit at a different pace. As a result of
my grandparents directing joining the workforce and contributing, the nuclear family ideals had
little influence; on the other hand, my father, after growing up through schooling and having more
in depth experience with American culture, was more affected, and the transition into the ideology
of the nuclear family was nearly complete after having children. As my father came to be the main

Child Labor And The Combination Act Of 1799
In the year 1760, the Enclosure Acts, which allowed landlords to enclose common land, forced
many farmers out of work, thus making them and their relatives to work in the early factories and
coal mines. The influx of workers combined with the first steam engines and the economic concepts
of industrial capitalism allowed for factories to have cheap, efficient, and easily replaceable manual
labor. This encouraged the factoryowners to overwork and abuse their workers, as the workers could
not afford to lose their jobs. However, when workers began to form unions in order to stop this
cruelty, the English government enacted the Combination Acts in 1799 which forbid workers from

ignore their workers due to lack of regulation. In fact, the Combination Acts specifically forced the
workers to endure whatever conditions they faced, encouraging the factory owners to mistreat the

factories are highly unfavourable, both to the health and morals of those employed in them and that

The Princess Bride Quotes
There are many characters in the book Princess Bride by S. Morgenstern. Some which are evil,
some which are brave, but the real hero in the story is Westley. Westley saves buttercup twice
and he also stops Humperdinck s evil plans that he was going to put forth after the wedding.
Westly is the true hero of the story because he is brave and is always willing to help even if he is
in bad condition. For example, when Buttercup was captured by Vizzini he went and saved her.
He went and fought a giant, and really good sword fighter and even Vizzini himself. Wesley had
taught himself to drink a poison liquid, but still be able to survive. He fought and put his life in
danger just to save Buttercup. Westley trained himself to sword fight very well, because when he
fought Indigo, he won even though Indigo is a very well sword fighter. Westley also won to the
giant Fezzik. Though the giant was much larger than Westley, Westley still won because of the
training he had done. This shows, Westley is very brave and was determined to save Buttercup.

Coping with Loss; Mechanisms of the Human Mind When one loses someone or something

the violence and moral anguish, which is accompanied by a loss to the protagonist. The plot shows
a process of events that ultimately leads to death and devastation. Both protagonists in Elie Wiesels

From then on, I had no other name (Wiesel 42). The minorities in the concentration camps are no
longer individuals, but are dehumanized into empty shells of themselves. The longer they remain in
camps, the more they are reduced to a mere physical presence, losing their selves to their self
preservation instinct, and eventually becoming just hungry, nearly dead bodies. Counting the days
until his liberation, Elie thought [He] was nothing but a body. Perhaps even less: a famished
stomach. The stomach alone was measuring time (Wiesel 52). The loss of the right to be an
individual confuses Elie, making him question whether he is too weak to survive, giving readers
their first glimpse into his change in personality. From a loyal son who fought his father s battles,
he becomes the betrayer, allowing his father to be killed right in front of his eyes. This change in
personality is derived from a Level 3 Defense Mechanism of the human mind known as
Dissociation. This Defence Mechanism involves the victim modifying their own identity to
avoid the suffering accompanied by a traumatic situation. Elie alters his characteristics to be
better suited for survival, as seen in how he sacrificed his father, something he claimed he would
never do, perhaps as a way of providing a reason for this sudden change in personality. By
dissociating himself to overcome trauma, Elie loses his sense of his identity and what he was

Decision Making Biases
Decision making biases had a major impact on decisions made in the case. Decision making
biases played a key role in impacting critical decisions. BP and Transocean s approach are
characteristic of the garbage can model because of the existence of a complex interaction between
four independent streams of events (Kanicki Kreitz, 2010).
Overconfidence bias is extremely prevalent throughout the case study. Despite several anomalies,
the crew and managers of both companies are confident that a tragedy will never occur.
Management and supervisors at the frontline level held a macho man attitude (Kletz, 2010). This is
visible through the companies attitudes toward drilling the well. Arrogance contributed to the crew
not following procedures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is apparent due to decisions that are made concerning process, equipment, and safety. During
the drilling process more fluid was being removed than added. Instead of stopping the process,
workers continued labor. These decisions are affected by a salient opportunity to make money,
political motives, and oversight (Kanicki Kreitz, 2010). Also an escalation of commitment bias is
present which drives members of the company to continually place action into a bad situation
hoping it will get better (Kanicki Kreitz, 2010). Unfortunately for the Deepwater Horizon, the
situation only got worse. The tragedy could have been avoided if the crew and management had
implemented evidence based decision making rather than the Garbage Can Model of decision
making.

people don t really know the meaning of it. But before I present my idea let s review the meaning
of such process:
From the website of InvestorWords.com foreclosureDefinition
The legal process by which an owner s right to a property is terminated, usually due to default.
Typically involves a forced sale of the property at public auction, with the proceeds being applied to
the mortgage debt.
The issue of the foreclosure crisis is a controversial one. On the one hand, from the buyer s point of

I truly believe that we must bring together all parties involved (buyers, sellers, bankers,
consultants, government officials, and regulators as well), since the problem equally affects all
parties; it s in for the best interest of everyone to listen, analyze and share the best possible
solution available. I propose to create a Housing agency at the federal level named The People s
Housing Cooperative which monitors and regulates the creation, operation and compliance of the
housing industry, membership will be voluntary, it s implied that all states and territories will
comply, and bind to the agreement.
To begin with, The People s Housing Cooperative will be based on the following components for a
typical house model:
1.Land: which is referring to the physical location in which the structure was and/or has been built.
2.Construction Materials: which is referring to all materials utilized to erect a house including
exterior and interior fixtures.
3.Labor: which is referring to the physical activity employed by many persons to erect the house?
The cooperative approach works in the following way, anyone interested in acquiring a house
(which ranges from a single family story unit and/or up to a multiple story building) must be willing
to work during the construction phase of the unit without any compensation due to the person (later

What Does Death Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red Death
Jesus Ponce De Leon English 090A Mr.Howard October 30, 2015 The Masque Of The Red
Death Edgar Allen Poe s short story The Masque of the Red Death takes place in an unspecified
land at some time in the past when, from their great castles, Lords and Princes held dominion
over the common people. A plague had devastated the world and the only refuge there is, is in a
luxury castle with safety beyond the walls, and welded doors where nothing can come in and
nothing can go out. Prince Prospero is the host of this whole plan. Prince Prospero s plan is to
await the end of this whole plague. The plague is called the Red Death, this plague came with harsh
and gruesome symptoms, whipping almost all population infront of it. The harsh and gruesome
symptoms overcame victims with sharp pains, sudden dizziness, and hematidrosis. Poe uses
detailed imagery to create the setting inside the unique castle.... Show more content on

We might interpretit as window into Poe s dark and tortured soul as a man with psychological
and addiction issues. Beyond that, the story has a very well explained theme: that no one can
escape death and if you run away, it will come for you sooner or later. The guests thought that,
being in a refuge with nothing coming in or out, they would be safer; however, it turns out that
the Red Death came after them and hunted them down. The clock symbolizes time of their
death, as if the time for their death came closer each time. It seems like the higher social classes
always have a bigger chance of surviving because of the easy access to resources. However, the
higher class always seems to go down faster. The color of rooms also come in play to all this as
every color seems to give a certain mood, and very few dared to enter the seventh dark room as it
may represent death, and they were afraid of

The doors of the cupboard/ room where the chemicals are stored need to be fireproof. This is
because if there is a fire and there is no fireproof door, the fire will be able to get to the chemicals
easily. Many chemicals are unstable or flammable and will increase the size of the fire. This will
increase the chances of someone getting hurt as well as increasing the probability of damage being
done to the buildings surrounding.
The chemicals are stored in order of risk and state of matter to reduce the risk of danger. Acids are
kept away from alkalis and are kept on the floor, surrounded by an absorbent called bunding which
reduces the risk if any acid spills. Flash proof lights are used because some chemicals are very
sensitive and flash proof lights reduce the risk of fire.
Fans are used to get rid of harmful fumes that may cause danger to the laboratory employees. The
different chemicals are also recorded so the laboratory employees and emergency services know
what chemicals the school has and the danger of each one. This is also done to ensure no
dangerous chemicals go missing or are taken without

Satan s Spirits Of Lust
Satan s spirits of lust emerge in the pagan gods Baal, Molech, and Chemosh that are all mentioned
in the Bible; specifically, their practices often included distorted sexual acts, human sacrifices,
cannibalism, and the eating of blood that were distinctively traits of devil worship. Baal worship
became abundant throughout much of the ancient Middle East; concurrently, in early societies Baal
has a long history of perverted sex that is akin to Pan Worshipwithin his cult rituals. Mount Hermon
turned out to be one of the major centers of Baal/Pan worship that involved the brutality of human
sacrifices. Baal obtained other gods identity, such as the horned Molech; well known for child
sacrifices. The various names and epithets of Baal occurring in the Old Testament and elsewhere
became produced from his various aspects and the localities of his worship. For the majority of
people, the cruelty of tormenting and murdering children becomes too devastating, believing that it
just could not have happened. On the contrary, the Bibles staunch position states numerous times
concerning these killings, and references how the Israelites served the idols of the heathen.
In 1870, Sir Charles Warren happened to be exploring in the Lebanon region on the summit of
Mount Hermon and found the ruins of a temple believed to belong to Baal. Similarly, this could be
relevant to the Bible s stating they

The Psychology Of Games And Gamers
The Psychology of Games and Gamers What is a Gamer? This question is thrown around today
with more accusations and people trying to defend themselves than anyone had thought possible
before. A gamer used to be someone who simply played games, but now it s been branched off into
so many different types of gamers. The main types I will be focusing on are as follows:
The Casual Gamer Someone who primarily plays casual games or plays games less frequently than
others.
The Core Gamer A player with a wider range of interests than a casual gamer. More likely to play
different types of games.
The Hardcore Gamer Players that are usually very competitive, usually are tech savvy, prefer to
play games that have depth and complexity.
The Pro Gamer Players that play on a professional level, usually deeply study one specific genre or
type of game to master and play it in competitions.
These types of gamers are the main builds of the gaming community, and, without them, the
community of gaming as we know it would be non existent.
These gamer types tend to play different types of games stretching from adventure, action, role
playing games (RPGs), and many more. The list is actually too long for me to name in this one
paper. Scientifically, each type of game has been shown to help people on a physiological level.
First person shooting games, for instance, have been shown to increase reflexes, hand eye
coordination, and multitasking skills, while RPGs

Bed Bath and Beyond Case
Statement of Problem Bed, Bath and Beyond (BBBY) currently has $400 million more in cash
than they need for ongoing growth and operations requirements. While the company is financially
sound analysts and investors worry about the company s capital structure decisions. Investors do
not want to see that much cash on the books and worry that the current capital structure is not the
most effective for the future. They prefer that BBBY change their capital structure by paying out
excess cash and issuing debt. This could allow BBBY to improve their return on equity and raise
earnings per share. Given the low interest rates available it seems like the perfect time for BBBY
to add debt to its capital structure. Until now they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This represents a 7% increase in stock price. Further, the additional leverage and return of excess
cash to shareholders will significantly increase ROE. If the market determines that an 80% debt
capital structure is feasible for BBBY, then we will expect further capital gains as investors
applaud shareholder friendly policies and re examine EPS estimates. However, if top line growth
and same store sales growth continue to trend downward, investors may become skeptical of BBBY
management s ability to continue generating over 30% EPS growth, and thus question the ability
of the company to service its debt in the future. Aside from the two aforementioned proposals the
company can raise its leverage in other ways. By conducting DuPont analysis and understanding
operating leverage we see that purchasing fixed assets and decreasing stockholder s equity will
raise the equity multiplier and the firm s operating leverage. In this instance we recommend
against this approach as the firm already has a large amount of excess cash above what they
require to fund new positive NPV projects and purchase new assets. Investors would rather see
their capital returned to them in the form of share repurchases and dividends as it is evident by the
company s cash stockpile that they can

Socrates, Philosophy and the Good Life Essay
Socrates, Philosophy and the Good Life
Socrates belief was that he was called on by the Gods to live his life examining others and
himself. He believed the necessity of doing what one thinks is right even in the face of universal
opposition, and the need to pursue knowledge even when opposed. I became completely convinced,
to the duty of leading the philosophical life by examining myself and others. В№ Socrates believed
that to desert this idea was ridiculous and would make his life absurd. Socrates chose to live a life
of truth and not to worry about things that did not matter. For Socrates not to live his life by the
plans and requests of Gods it would be disobedient and untrue to the Gods. Socrates was brought to
court to defend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates asks the question Is there anyone in the world, Meletus, who acknowledges that human
phenomena exist, yet does not acknowledge human beings? 9 After more questions of the same
type, Meletus answers no. Socrates again proves his point. Socrates brings the irrational charge
down to simple accusation because Meletus was a loss for a legitimate offense. Socrates says
there is no conceivable way that a person who believes in spiritual beings does not believe in gods.
The argument that proved inconsistency in Meletus answers was: spirits exists, God created spirits,
therefore, the creator of spirits exists (God). It seems that Meletus did understand the laws of the
court and was simply charging Socrates with any crime he could think of. Socrates goes to say
that Meletus and Anytus will go on to convict many more good men and they will not stop with
him. Socrates states that it will not be Meletus and Anytus that convict but the malice and slander
and great hostility that will. Socrates refutes the irreligion charge by proving that since he believes
in spirits he believes in gods. I have neglected the things that concern most people making money,
managing an estate, gaining military power or civic honours, or positions of power. 10 Even today
to most of the human race the good life is acquiring great status here on earth. Most men need to
have much material possession, meaningful vocation, and a wealthy class.

The Rise Of Wilsons Tax Reform
Tax reforms started in 1916 when the Wilson administration decided to cooperate with a group of
insurgent democrats on war time financing, which was majorly progressive taxation. This was
important because it led to attacking the wealthy, special privilege, and public corruption. The
administration embraced this taxation as means to achieve social justice. Another major element to
Wilsons administration was redistributional taxation. This helped drive between socialism and
unmediated capitalism. The major debate at the time was over the question, What stake does
society have in corporate profits? The debates outcome created soak the rich income taxation.
Wilson signed the Revenue Act of 1916. This was the first taxon personal incomes.

My Experience At The Hotel
These days, there have been a number of hotels in various cities, towns and countries. From
when I was young to now, I have visited many inns since I loved to travel to somewhere. I had
any feeling and impression about hotels where I have been before I became eighteen years old.
Hotels were just hotels that I needed to stay for the night. No more than that I thought. Before I
went to Canada to study English in 2011, my family had a plan to travel somewhere and stay in a
hotelfor my farewell in Korea. After we visited many attractions, we were heading to the hotel
that we made a reservation. When I saw the entrance of the hotel, I was surprised at first, and
when we went inside of the hotel, I was surprised again. For two days, I was very impressed and I
thought a lot in positive ways. I always had a desire to visit again and I wanted to get a hotel like
that inn. It was the first time for me to know what I want to become. The trip to the hotel was
totally changed my life and my dream.
When we arrived at the hotel, a man, who looked a staff, did valet parking service for us, and we
moved to the desk to get a card key. We certainly checked in and we followed the guide of one of
the employees. He let my family get in a cart, and he guided us to our room where we reserved
before we came here. While going there, small waterfall and many various flowerpots welcomed
us. I could see that our room was being close to us, which was designed as a modern building.

Conflicting Parties Case Study Analysis
Conflicting Parties Case Study Analysis
When working in tight quarters, there are countless ways of unintentionally impeding on a
colleague s work habits. Due to a shared office, Brian and Jon are no exception. While striving to
complete work tasks through the means each is comfortable with and accustom to, each individual
s work style habits imposes on the other s. Unfortunately due to space limitations, separating Brian
and Jon to two separate offices is not a possibility. However, through thoughtful conflict resolution,
Brian and Jon can negotiate the means to more forward working together, without continuing to
distract the other with their own work style.
Conflict Resolution In broad terms, conflict resolution refers to the process two or more
individuals utilize in order to reach an agreement to a dispute or debate (Miall, Ramsbotham
Woodhouse, 1999). While there are many specific components to conflict resolution, the
application of each facet is strongly tied to the specifics of each individual conflict. In the case of
Brian and Jon s office space conflict, the pair should examine the relevant concepts of fractionation,
framing, reframing, and common ground. Ultimately, if the two colleague s cannot reach an
agreement(s) on how to move forward working together, mediation can be utilized as a last resort.
Fractionation
As one of the many components of conflict resolution, fractionation is a concept which should be
utilized early in the conflict resolution

Benefits During Middle Childhood
During middle childhood, being a good parent requires the ability to adjust to your child s
fluctuating needs with as little conflict as possible (Eccles, 1999, p. 40). Children at this age are
looking to gain independence while still needing the stability of home (Eccles, 1999, p. 40).
Because of this, if a parent is trying to be their childs friend, there may not be a positive outcome
for the parent or the child. Being a child s friend puts you emotionally on the same level with them;
however, during middle childhooda child benefits from knowing that there is an adult who loves
them, that can handle the tough times and decisions in life, can give them instruction, and can set

The Book Of Mormon Essay
Origin:
In 1823 a man from New York named Joseph Smith was visited by an angel called Moroni.
Moroni was assumed to be the son of Mormon and told Joseph to go find the golden plates that
were buried somewhere near where he lived. Four years later in 1827, Joseph Smith finally found
the sacred plates and when he did Moroni told him that he needed to start to translate them. It took
Joseph three years to transcribe the plates and when he finished he named the book, The Book of
Mormon. In this book it tells us what happened during the period of 600 B.C. to around 400 A.D.,
and how the Jews came to America after they left Jerusalem. After the Jews arrived at America they
separated into two different groups, the Nephites and the Lamanites. The Nephites and the
Lamanites fought each other and in 428 A.D. the Lamanites won. After the Nephites were defeated
the Lamanites continued to stay in America and we know them today as American Indians. The

Lack of openness in the workplace is very costly. Design engineers who say nothing about the
problem they cannot solve run the risk that, when they do solve it, they will require other key
parts of the design to be changed. And by that time others have made costly investments in
tooling that must now be scrapped, compounding costs and delays. In one of the cases we
studied, the Epsilon new car design project at a leading auto maker, major cost savings were
achieved (over $60 million) through their ability to confront and change this powerful pattern of
secretiveness, a long standing part of their workplace culture. They recognized that this tacit norm
was based on deeper lying assumptions (shared by all of them) about what is expected from a good
design engineer and that those mental models were reinforced by the behavior of managers who
consistently chastised and humiliated engineers who brought up unresolved problems. So, naturally
they concealed their problems, reporting nothing, until they were close to a solution. During the
Epsilon change process, Epsilon s top managers learned to see how their own behavior was
creating results they did not want and they learned how to behave differently and get better results
both in terms of cost savings and in the satisfaction they all derived from their work. With less
blaming, there was more trust, openness, and better

  • 2. The Analysis Of The Deepwater Horizon Study Group BP leadership along with partners did not have proper governance and process to evaluate the risk that they are willing to take. The employee at every level does not know how much risk to take nor did any corporate policy exist to guide them. Having zero risk tolerance and zero safety defects in these complex operations ensure there are no human losses. The analysis of the Deepwater Horizon Study Group (2011) (p.11) shows that the leadership was concerned about how much money was spent in excess and did not address previous violations or preventive steps. Instead of downplaying, BP could have accessed the situation, analyzed, and communicated just before and after the explosions from an organizational behavior perspective. Communication is an important tool and basic needs of any organization to effectively discuss or write to their employees, clients, external vendors, and the government to govern internal process and enhance its customer experiences. Communication Employees communicate with each other for effectively carrying out corporate responsibilities. As Robbins and Judge (2014) explains employee shares and conveys ideas and information through communication using four of its major functions such as control, motivation, emotional expression and information (p. 299). The offshore oil drilling job is complex and needs engineering expertise. BP had undertaken deep water oil drilling at the Macondo well using the Transocean offshore oil rig. • 5. Taking a Look at Television Broadcasting In many cases, it is safe to say that television broadcasting has polished the narrow mindedness of an imperative individual to either antagonize a supreme man running for presidency or be his very back bone in the process of voting. As airing prominent speeches made by powerful political figures can get one simple idea of justice to more than half the nation as it stands, it can create a strained society in which one will seem to manipulate the others aspect of just, and in return will call for protests. In the favor of qualifying that television broadcast has been both deleterious and accommodating to vote percentages, sources A, B, and F help to embellish the main points fabricated in this essay. As of now, in twenty first century, broadcasting has been very popular and it only seems to give birth to new forms of idea that can be compressed into what the media has to portray. Media, even in a history not so far away from our past have engendered the idea of setting powerful people to defend why they should be elected as president. Broadcasting, even in our not so long ago history has took the initiative to display one man sitting in office to half the nation The advent of television in the late 1940 s gave rise to the belief that a new era was opening in public communication...its wide geographic distribution and impact, provides a new, direct, and sensitive link between Washington and the people (Source A). I picked this problem because if I were to really get involved in the research, I would go and ride all the roller coasters myself, which sounds like a blast. While I was either researching or riding the roller coasters, I would still have to go through some steps. First, I would have to define the problem, which would be how would math be used to figure out a way to rate a roller coaster. After I knew what I was looking for, I would make assumptions about what people like to see in a roller coaster. I would assume that most people like loops, so if it had a loop it would get a higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of How A Woman Can Get Hurt By Jean Kilbourne Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt , an article by Jean Kilbourne bitterly rags on sex in advertisement. It goes into detail to describe how companies have become increasingly more likely to sell sex in advertisements for products that, in reality, are entirely unrelated. Kilbourne focuses primarily on how this is harmful to society especially women and children and how they are viewed by men, though men may also be targeted if not nearly as frequently. In a similar article called Taking a Bite Out of Twilight, Carmen D. Siering shares her disapproval of the popular novel adored by so many: Twilight. Represented by the iconic red apple held in a women s palm with a sinister black backdrop, Twilight is a modern fairytale where the prince belongs to a monstrous society of blood sucking models, and the princess is your average, plain Jane highschool girl with a knack for getting into trouble. Siering s opinion is most basically this: Bella is objectified and downgraded in the Twilight series; a character created solely to compliment the plot propelled by male characters. Where the majority of the population sees an aching, beautiful and dangerous romance, Siering sees a controlling relationship and a dull female lead. Kilbourne s article brings to light how Siering s article, directed at Stephenie Meyers readers, is so accurate with the the recommendation that everyone become more aware of the messages they are absorbing from media as it snakes its way into society s ... • 13. Building A Wireless Infrastructure Backbone System Introduction Currently much importance is given to optimizing business without affecting the production and process. When a new distribution centre s build or an existing one is being upgraded with a warehouse management system, a wireless network structure should be provided which need to be regarded as the integral part of the process. This is an important part because connection issues may arise due to lack in connectivity without wireless connection. Eventually this will impact the data collection capabilities from other floors, mostly form the ground to top floor (Lu, W., Giannikas, V., McFarlane, D., Hyde, J. (2014). A wireless networkinfrastructure building starts with a design and then with a map which will describe the mapping of the wireless access points. It also needs to create a plan for installing the cable which will run throughout the distribution centre. The reason behind this planning is to build a wireless infrastructure backbone that will be implemented and which can have the capability to support the whole planning in the distribution centre. To get proper wireless signals throughout the premises a well planning of the wireless system is essential along with successful implementation. • 16. GDP In The United States GDP is used as an indicator to know how the economy is doing in a specific year. If GDP rises, we assume that the economy is growing and vice versa, but is it really taking into account all the factors necessary to estimate the well being of our economy? This has been a controversial issue for decades, because some people believe that GDP leaves many factors out when calculating the welfare of the economy, such as income distribution, environmental sustainability, and non market transactions. First we need to define what is GDP and how is it measured. According to Chan (2013) GDP is a measure of the output of all final goods and services produced in the United States of America in a given year. Now, GDP can be measured in two ways: by adding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is really worrying, because GDP misses a lot of factors that affect in the standard of living of people. For example, GDP only focuses in what is being produced, but does not worries how this product are being produced and why they are produced that way, so many companies to lower the cost of production, use unsafe methods that end up producing harm to the earth. An example of these are the companies that use coal to make electricity. The amount of pollution they expel into the nature is really high. According to Carrington (2015), ВЁThe International Energy Agency calculates that one in four of these sub critical plants must close within five years, if the world s governments are to keep their pledge to limit global warming to 2CВЁ. This problem not only affects the environment, but also has an effect on people s lives. The quality of life of the society as a whole is lowered because of the pollution, people may suffer from cancer or respiratory diseases. And if the production of electricity gets higher then GDP also rises, but the quality of life is getting lower. It also does not consider non market transactions, an example being when you hire someone to tutor your child in math, GDP takes into account this transaction and therefore GDP rises, but what if you do on your own? Many people complain about this, because in this case GDP does not take into account what is being measured. Also volunteering work is not included in the GDP. But it does not end there, any transaction made in the black market, because is not reported, it s left out. As mentioned before, GDP do not take in to consideration the distribution of income in society, as a consequence of this GDP cannot distinguish if the GDP is rising for good reasons like more investment or more income, or for bad reasons. Therefore the inequality in society is not projected in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Arguments Against Ethical Relativism In The Bible As you have essentially mentioned, because moral absolutes are true, ethical relativism is false. Namely, the arguments against ethical relativism are weak. Primarily, your argument used the Bible. As a Bible believer, I agree with your statements: the Bible argues for moral absolutes rather than ethical relativism. For instance, the Ten Commandments are true for anyone and the God s standards are absolute. However, anyone who is skeptical concerning the Bible would not view the Scriptures as a credible source to argue against ethical relativism. Therefore, knowing and presenting arguments that do not derive from the Bible would be beneficial. One beneficial method would be scrutinizing two prime forms of ethical relativism: moral subjectivism and cultural relativism. These two have shortcomings in their arguments. The former form, moral subjectivism, basically argues that moralityis whatever one perceives, whereas the latter, cultural relativism, states that the culture dictates morality for that culture. With the former, one who believes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is absurd. In addition, subjective morality is inherently logically contradictory since, for instance, if a person believes that subjective morality is immoral, subjective morality appears to be immoral and not viable. An apparent stronger form of ethical relativism is cultural relativism since, as Michael Scott Jones wrote, Cultural relativism is more metaphysical than is moral subjectivism, which is more epistemological in nature. Therefore, in moral subjectivism, one merely perceives morality, and in cultural relativism, the culture dictates the reality of morality. In spite of cultural relativism providing a stronger form of ethical relativism than moral subjectivism, cultural relativism ultimately fails. A weak argument for cultural relativism is that because a diverse morality appears to exist in the world, cultural relativism must be true. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone always hears about how college is the best years of their lives but why? Is it because of the late night talks? The stress? The parties? The structure? Or the safety net? In love, impressed, humbled, scared. And we don t have to lose that. This quote makes her audience feel not only confident about the future but also excited knowing that they will all be there for each other. Context Keegan uses context to show what her speech is mainly directed for. After reading her speech it is easy to understand what she is writing her speech for. She is writing her speech at her graduation at Yale. She basically spells the context out for the listener when she says when we wake up tomorrow after Commencement and leave. Daimler is considered one of the most successful and profitable automotive companies across the globe. Founded in 1893 as the Daimler Motor Syndicate Ltd, its growth and expansion in the automotive sector has been facilitated by the need to meet the interests and needs of its key stakeholders (Barnard, 1998). The vehicles that are manufactured by the company are of high standard and the quality is top notch. Most of its customers are concerned with the satisfaction level that they achieve when they purchase the motor vehicles. The implementation of the luxurious car segment meant that the trend in the economy has considerably changed and there was need for improving the brand image and the superiority of the products offered. According to Barnard (1998), Daimler s merger with Chrysler was undertaken due to the need to expand its operations and initiatives across the globe. Chrysler is considered one of the smallest automobiles sectors when it is considered with the three biggest U.S. automakers, which includes Ford and General Motors. • 28. The Musical Taste Is Subjective Musical taste is subjective. Everyone has a different musical preference that depends on their age, where they live, where they are from, what mood they are in, and so on. For example, according to an interview with Freddy Matt who is a college student in New Jersey, I listen to music, which is pop music, when I get bored, or when I want to be relaxed. Otherwise, usually I do not listen to music (Matt). According to another interview with bar patron Tom Hunk, who is 35 years old, I listen to music for fun. Friday and Saturday night, I do go to a bar in order to let myself go (Hunk). These examples show that people listen to music with different purposes. On the other hand, people listen music when they do sports such as running, weight lifting, walking, playing tennis, etc. Even though they live in the same community, their perspective on music is different. I have been living in Bergen County for two years, and I really want to explore our county s musical culture. In order to look for the musical life and culture in Bergen County, I searched for some musical stores and locations that are being used for live music. When I was searching for venues, I found that many hired house bands, which gives us the opportunity of experiencing live performance. For example, Dodo Orchestra is one of them. The news media has access to television broadcasting and has people to go find stories to broadcast. However, as time has progressed, the news media has become more and more opinionated. Consequently, the bias of the news media in their reporting s has tainted the opinions of the American people. By creating a strict set of laws pertaining to the reporting of news, bias within reports will have to decrease; causing a less opinionated audience, people feeling better about themselves and humanity, and the United Statesgrowth as a stronger country. The news media in today s world is far too opinionated. On a regular basis, the news media and other news outlets are often discussing opinions, their own opinions, and other s opinions about stories and news reports rather than the reports themselves. • 32. Zoo Observation Essay Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Los Angeles zoo on a beautiful, sunny Thursday (October 19th). Although I arrived off schedule which left a minimal amount of time to observe primates, I managed my time well. After being told that the larger animals get put away earlier, I figured my first stop would be at an ape enclosure. The ape I chose to see that day was the gorilla. The time that I began my observation was at approximately 3:05. At that time only one ape was quite visible and he was sitting at the front making eye contact with me making it seem as if he is HABITUATED. Next, post gorilla watching, I had the chance to take a gander at the ring railed lemurs at 3:40. These prosimians all had their own personalities which interested me deeply. Lastly, and certainly not least on my journey through the LA zoo, I had the chance of looking at the mandrills which were once classified as baboons. Considering that two baby mandrills were present and only a month old, this was my favorite exhibit to see because of their high energy and randomness of actions. Beginning with the most intelligent of the bunch, the (western lowland) gorillas I observed were quite inactive. This is certainly so because they are known to only be hunted by man leaving no competition outside of their own species. This fact makes it apparent why these kings of the jungle sit around so often. In the wild and even in zoos it may be difficult for a male to find mates because groups of gorillas are POLYGYNOUS. So usually one male is the father of all of the offspring. Being this way, male gorillas must display DOMINANCE over others and even stand their ground against an incoming male that may threaten the family. Going back to how they sit all day, gorillas are able to do this because they don t even have to move to replenish energy for the reason that they are grass and leaf eaters (vegetarians). Not having to move very much makes gorillas capable of having a low quality diet. Moving forward, ring tailed lemurs showed the greatest amount of ALTRUISM. They kindly groomed each other for an extensive amount of time, showing a great bond between one another. Also, their ability to move quickly and jump high showed off their MOTOR ... He starts off his piece by addressing the ad populum argument for the eradication of prejudice, stating The war on prejudice is now, in all likelihood, the most uncontroversial social movement in America. , thing is about this statement, this is what is making his piece relevant, because everyone is accepting this movement blindly, without realizing what they are doing. He is not denying that prejudice statements can hurt, but his argument is that they are not violent, in fact, they are merely jokes without any real intention of hurting anyone. Rauch also draws general sympathy through providing examples of people being persecuted because of simply being who they are. But what really keeps the attention of the reader is his use of parallelism and antithesis. An example being his statement God hates homosexuals is a statement of fact, not of bias, to those who believe it; American criminals are disproportionately black is a statement of bias, not of fact, to those who disbelieve it. While I don t think there are a lot of people who suffer from clown phobia, there are many people who just don t like them. Clowns have been around for ages and appear in most cultures in varying forms. From court jesters and mimes to rodeo and circus clowns their primary purpose was to make people laugh. To provide comic relief. Somewhere along the line clowns became dark. Facebook even has an I Hate Clowns page with some 400,000 followers! Is it because clowns always possessed a certain sadness. Were they always just mirroring humanity with all our imperfections or was it something else? I m not sure, but clownphobia did not seem so prevalent prior to the IT movie in 1990. IT was based on Stephen Kings 1986 novel of the same title and both the book and movie instilled a fear into what seems like an entire generation of kids. In the novel, Stephen King s IT was about a demon who feeds on fear. IT was banished to earth and wakes every 27 to 30 years to terrorize kids and feast upon their flesh, which tastes better to him when they are afraid. He can take any form but uses the clown because children are more easily frightened than adults. In the novel the clown is evil, alien, and other worldly. But what happens when what they lose is actually a piece of them? Novels depicting a witness account of The Holocaust (1941 1945) paint a picture of the violence and moral anguish, which is accompanied by a loss to the protagonist. The plot shows a process of events that ultimately leads to death and devastation. Both protagonists in Elie Wiesels Night and Wladyslaw Szpilman s The Pianist gradually fall into the abyss of inhumane behaviour. Post Holocaust, they embark on a new life free from social restraints and become either unmindful or compliant to the losses they faced on their journey. Elie and Wladyslaw... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From then on, I had no other name (Wiesel 42). The minorities in the concentration camps are no longer individuals, but are dehumanized into empty shells of themselves. The longer they remain in camps, the more they are reduced to a mere physical presence, losing their selves to their self preservation instinct, and eventually becoming just hungry, nearly dead bodies. Counting the days until his liberation, Elie thought [He] was nothing but a body. Perhaps even less: a famished stomach. The stomach alone was measuring time (Wiesel 52). The loss of the right to be an individual confuses Elie, making him question whether he is too weak to survive, giving readers their first glimpse into his change in personality. From a loyal son who fought his father s battles, he becomes the betrayer, allowing his father to be killed right in front of his eyes. This change in personality is derived from a Level 3 Defense Mechanism of the human mind known as Dissociation. This Defence Mechanism involves the victim modifying their own identity to avoid the suffering accompanied by a traumatic situation. Elie alters his characteristics to be better suited for survival, as seen in how he sacrificed his father, something he claimed he would never do, perhaps as a way of providing a reason for this sudden change in personality. By dissociating himself to overcome trauma, Elie loses his sense of his identity and what he was raised to believe in. Loss is understood as a natural part of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

BP and Transocean s approach are characteristic of the garbage can model because of the existence of a complex interaction between four independent streams of events (Kanicki Kreitz, 2010). Overconfidence bias is extremely prevalent throughout the case study. Despite several anomalies, the crew and managers of both companies are confident that a tragedy will never occur. Management and supervisors at the frontline level held a macho man attitude (Kletz, 2010). This is visible through the companies attitudes toward drilling the well. Arrogance contributed to the crew not following procedures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is apparent due to decisions that are made concerning process, equipment, and safety. During the drilling process more fluid was being removed than added. Instead of stopping the process, workers continued labor. These decisions are affected by a salient opportunity to make money, political motives, and oversight (Kanicki Kreitz, 2010). Also an escalation of commitment bias is present which drives members of the company to continually place action into a bad situation hoping it will get better (Kanicki Kreitz, 2010). Unfortunately for the Deepwater Horizon, the situation only got worse. The tragedy could have been avoided if the crew and management had implemented evidence based decision making rather than the Garbage Can Model of decision making. References Kanicki Kreitz (2010). Satan s Spirits Of Lust Satan s spirits of lust emerge in the pagan gods Baal, Molech, and Chemosh that are all mentioned in the Bible; specifically, their practices often included distorted sexual acts, human sacrifices, cannibalism, and the eating of blood that were distinctively traits of devil worship. Baal worship became abundant throughout much of the ancient Middle East; concurrently, in early societies Baal has a long history of perverted sex that is akin to Pan Worshipwithin his cult rituals. Mount Hermon turned out to be one of the major centers of Baal/Pan worship that involved the brutality of human sacrifices. Baal obtained other gods identity, such as the horned Molech; well known for child sacrifices. The main types I will be focusing on are as follows: The Casual Gamer Someone who primarily plays casual games or plays games less frequently than others. The Core Gamer A player with a wider range of interests than a casual gamer. More likely to play different types of games. The Hardcore Gamer Players that are usually very competitive, usually are tech savvy, prefer to play games that have depth and complexity. The Pro Gamer Players that play on a professional level, usually deeply study one specific genre or type of game to master and play it in competitions. These types of gamers are the main builds of the gaming community, and, without them, the community of gaming as we know it would be non existent. These gamer types tend to play different types of games stretching from adventure, action, role playing games (RPGs), and many more. The list is actually too long for me to name in this one paper. However, if top line growth and same store sales growth continue to trend downward, investors may become skeptical of BBBY management s ability to continue generating over 30% EPS growth, and thus question the ability of the company to service its debt in the future. In one of the cases we studied, the Epsilon new car design project at a leading auto maker, major cost savings were achieved (over $60 million) through their ability to confront and change this powerful pattern of secretiveness, a long standing part of their workplace culture.
