Format Of An Argumentative Essay
Writing an essay on the format of an argumentative essay may initially seem like a
straightforward task, but as one delves into the intricacies of crafting a well-structured and
compelling argument, the complexity becomes apparent. The challenge lies not only in presenting
a coherent thesis statement but also in organizing the content effectively to build a persuasive
case.
Firstly, one must grasp the fundamental components of an argumentative essay: introduction,
thesis statement, body paragraphs, counterarguments, and conclusion. Ensuring a seamless flow
between these sections requires a keen understanding of logical progression and effective
transitions. Each paragraph should contribute to the overall argument, and maintaining a balance
between supporting evidence and counterarguments adds an extra layer of difficulty.
Furthermore, the choice of language is crucial. Crafting a compelling argument demands a
command of rhetoric, persuasive techniques, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly.
Striking the right balance between formality and accessibility can be challenging, as the tone
must be appropriate for both the subject matter and the intended audience.
Research skills play a pivotal role in the difficulty of this task. Gathering relevant and credible
sources to bolster the argument requires time and discernment. Additionally, synthesizing
information from diverse sources while maintaining a coherent narrative can be a daunting
aspect of the writing process.
Editing and revising also pose challenges. Ensuring that the essay is free of grammatical errors,
stylistic inconsistencies, and logical fallacies demands a critical eye. Striking the right balance
between conciseness and depth is a perpetual challenge in essay writing.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the format of an argumentative essay is a task that demands a
nuanced understanding of structure, language, research, and critical thinking. It requires a writer
to navigate through various complexities to produce a cohesive and convincing piece. While
challenging, mastering this skill is invaluable for anyone aiming to effectively communicate and
persuade through the written word.

The League Of Nations
Instructions
The League of Nations was made in the outcome of the First World War to elevate
global confrantation and to attain to universal peace and security. (Langholtz, 2010).
It demonstrated uniquely unsuccessful. The Association estranged the global forces
who were vanquished in the First World War and even neglected to hold together the
successful partners; in fact, the United States never got involved with the League of
Nations. Amid the 1920s and 1930s, the previous associates of World War Ifloated
separated and incapacitated, while universal powers outside the Alliance took to
tyranny and rearmament. As the worldwide scene tackled more inauspicious
headings, the Association of Countries was weak to keep the world s plummet into a
Second World War.
The UN was made after World War II. Like the Alliance of Countries, it was
focused around the presumption that the successful wartime forces would keep the
global peace. Dissimilar to the previous Class, in any case, the UN tried impressive
endeavors to accommodate and acclimatize the vanquished countries of World War
II. Likewise, the quick development of its participation because of decolonization
gave new countries a voice and impact that they had never had previously. In its
prelude, the Sanction of the United Countries stated its objectives as expressed by
Langholtz (2010):
To spare succeeding eras from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has

Summary Of Joann Murray s Someone s Mother
Summary for Joann Murray s Someone s Mother Joann Murray s essay on
Someone s Mother, describes a time when she was driving down the highway in
Albany, coming from a dentist appointment when she spotted a hitchhiker. Now
this is nothing unusual for hitchhikers to be on this highway but it was something
about this one that captured Joan s attention. She was half way down the road but
her intuition made her make a U turn and go back. Another reason she turned
around is because the lady would not stop waving until she stopped. This
hitchhiker was different from most hitchhikers, she had on a raincoat and a black
hat and her hair was white. As Joan approached her, she could tell that she was an
old lady. She was under the impression the old lady s vehicle had broken down but
there was no vehicle in sight. The lady informed Joan that she just needed a ride to
Nassau, which was three miles away. While riding down the road she found out
the lady was ninety two years old and was apparently was out for a walk. The old
lady begged Joan to drop her off at a drugstore in town instead of at her residence.
This made Joan reminisce about the time when her ninety year old mothercalled her
brother and said she did not remember how to get dressed anymore. Shortly after
that, Joan had to put her mother in a nursing home. Joan began to realize the lady
had been lost before, especially after seeing a white dove pinned to her collar. The
older lady expressed dropping her off at
Identifying Communication Styles As A Training
Professional
Identifying Communication Styles
As a training professional, you need to be able to differentiate effective and
ineffective communication styles, and understand that their style of communication
may often conflict with the way messages are interpreted. By understanding different
communication styles, we can help our students begin to understand how to separate
the message from the communication style of the person with whom they are
communicating and to appropriately respond to the content of the message.
Examples would be a supervisor saying to a subordinate in loud and angry tone of
voice ...can t you do anything right? (aggressive style) or a shop clerk rolling her
eyes back as she tells the customer rummaging through her purse take your time, I m
not busy at all (passive aggressive style).
Our communication skills are developed based upon our education, attitudes, and
preconceived notions. The good news is that communication styles can be changed
with effort and the right attitude.
No matter your style, effective communication always includes positive feedback.
Constructive comments help those you are speaking with to feel good about
themselves, to feel more comfortable and confident trying new things, to grow, to be
heard and to be taken seriously. Critical and judgmental comments will inhibit growth
and learning. For example:

McDonald s Faces Millennial Challenge by: Julie Jargon

their 20s and 30s are defecting to competitors, in particular so called fast casual

To What Extent Were The Social Policies Of The Idi Amin...
To what extent were the social policies of the Idi Amin administration a detrimental
response to Uganda s colonial past? This is the question that this essay endeavors to
answer as it scrutinizes the social policies issued by Idi Amin Dada s administration
throughout his eight year long reign over Uganda. This essay will analyze the events
of Idi Amins rule from 1971 to 1979 as a response to the decade prior to Uganda s
independence in 1962 and the interim period between them from 1962 to 1971. It is
made apparent that Idi Amin s response to the issues within his society were by in
large fueled by the lingering distaste he had for the effects that British involvement in
Ugandan affairs had left on the nation. The British introduced... Show more content

These origins stemmed from the late 19th century to the early 20th century when the
British first began to colonize Uganda with the help of Asians but didn t intensify
until the fifties when classism and racism became a growing issue. These concerns
would grow potentially destructive in the sixties when Britain worked alongside Idi
Amin to overthrow Milton Obote and then a reality in the 70 s when these issues
were addressed with severity. Links between Idi Amin s ruthless social policies
and Uganda s colonial past became apparently negative which posed the query, to
what extent were these social policies a detrimental response? The focus of this
piece is to illustrate the extent to which Idi Amin s social policies, issued in
varying degree from 1971 to 1979, served as an overwhelmingly detrimental and
negative response to a time when Britain ceased greater control and influence over
Uganda. It is noteworthy because it provides an answer and origin to a nation that
endured a dictatorship with a lack of ethical and substantial social reform for nearly a
decade. Instead a subservient military overtook the Ugandan parliament in an attempt
to force a self interested agenda upon its diverse population. The question to
investigate then becomes, to what extent were the social policies of the Idi Amin
administration a detrimental response to Uganda s colonial past?

The Top Five Coffee Shops Essay
Any Top List is always subjective, in my opinion. There will probably be people in

which are all quite different, are exceptionally good. Beasley s Southern Bistro
Beasley s Southern Bistro, located at 2203 McKinley Road in Johnson City (locals

South Roan Street. It also changed its style a bit. The old Beasley s was known
for its home cooking, which it still offers; however, they have also expanded the
menu and added some unique sandwiches (including a lobster sub) and, of course,
various types of coffees. My husband and I were frequent visitors to the Beasley s

O A And Mad Max Analysis
D.O.A and Mad Max are thought provoking films with unique plots and characters
who make you feel sympathetic towards their situation. Even though both films have
a diverse setting and time period, similar ideas can be found between the two. That
being said, with such differing plots it is also fairly easy to find contrasts between
the films.
D.O.A was directed by Rudolph MatГ© and the film was released in 1949 by
United Artists. D.O.A reveals the story of Frank Bigelow, who in a police station
recounts the events that led to his murder through a luminous toxin. The story is
told in a large flashback as he describes his journey from his home in Banning,
California to San Francisco. In San Francisco, he plans to have a solo vacation
away from his secretary/ girlfriend Paula Gibson. This all changes when he is
poisoned by an unknown assailant with a luminous toxin that will kill him in a
matter of days. After hearing the devastating news, he sets out to uncover the
mystery of why he was poisoned. After gathering information from various
sources, Frank learns that he has been targeted because he knows about a bill of
sale which he had notarized. Knowing such information could potentially
jeopardize a cover up of a murder that was framed as a suicide. After revealing the
final pieces of his story to the police, Frank Bigelow dies at the station while
uttering his finals words Paula . He is pronounced D.O.A by the police.

The Spotless Mind
Next I will start discussing the ethical issues represented in the other film Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This film deals with the ethical implications
concerning memory loss. In the film, Joel and Clementine, who are ex lovers,
remove memories of each other. If you could erase someone from your life, would
you? The act of erasing a person s memory appears at first so highly unethical, even
when the characters in the film have actually requested for it. The early stages of the
film suggests, however, that Joel and Clementine s relationship were not working out
well, and so they eventually chose to wipe it off from their memories for their own
happiness. According to utilitarianism, by which an act is ethical as long as it
maximizes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant s categorical imperative states two main points: to act out of duty, and to
never use people as a means. Although all people are given the freedom to make
their own choices, removing our memories actually limits our own freedom, and is
the same as living a lie. The film suggests that to remember does not solely imply
the retainment of a memory, but it also includes taking responsibility for one s own
actions ( for my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the
whole truth; to the know the worst, and to provide for it (Eternal Sunshine of the
Spotless Mind, 2004). Kant states that persons, as rationale agents, have a capacity
for freedom and dignity, and deserve respect. However, in the film, through
memory removal, the value of truth gets distorted and leads the characters to
actually reject themselves. What makes this self objectification ironic is that this is
the consequence of the procedure that had been self consented. What makes this
even more contradictory is that they are using their own rights and freedom to
actually limit their freedom which under Kant s rationale is considered
problematic. There is an obvious lack of self respect in the film as everyone is
characterized by self destruction: Joel s depression, Clementine s alcoholism, and
Mary s insecurity, which are all self harming activities. The unethical issue of
memory removal in the film is also derived from the very nature of the technology
itself, as it is portrayed as misguided and dangerous. The people who actually
prescribe the procedure also seem to have no respect for the value of memory, and the
possible consequences that might follow. Thus, Kantianism, in direct contrast to
Utilitarianism, would not consent to the memory removal procedure in the film no
matter what the reason is or the consequences that

Nowadays, in the age of economic and cultural globalization, translation is a
prerequisite activity. Translation is everywhere around us without even realizing it.
Translated texts are in people s life such as their homes, offices or supermarkets
(MachГЎДЌovГЎ, 2013). Thus, it can be said that without translation, our life is full
of difficulties, because of using a mobile phone, or turning on a washing machine or
reading a book written by a foreign author. Schäffner (2000) claims that Translation

The latter aims to train professional translators whereas the former is a means to help
learners acquire, develop, and further strengthen their knowledge and competence in a

Pedagogical translation refers to the use of translation in the classroom, to translation
as a language learning activity, an exercise in which translations are not necessarily
produced in a final written form to be handed in, judged and graded, but rather
carried out as a reading comprehension exercise, sometimes as a group activity(Cui
Zhao, 2014). In this research, pedagogical translation operationally refers to the use
of translation in the foreign language classrooms as a writing activity.
1.4.3 Translation Activities
Many ELT teachers and theorists have found the validity and value of translation as
an activity in communicative classrooms (although few course book writers offer
ideas and materials in this area). Some ideas for classroom activities are: Bringing in
examples of L1 language or L2 for discussion and translation.

they like them. These are then used for

Vegetarian Diets Are Considered As Healthy Diets
How Vegetarian Diets Are Considered As Healthy Diets
There are number of type of meat like beef, chicken, pork and fish as well but there
are also some people who do not eat any type of meat. So this type of people is called
vegetarian. They cannot eat meat but also they cannot use other type of products
which are produced from animals like egg, gelatin and milk. Vegetarian diet is a best
kind of food which fulfills the needs of all types of people such as children, old ages
and young people as well.
Vegetarian can be defined as a flesh avoiding person who cannot eat meat, including
fish and poultry. Vegetarians usually avoid flesh but it is true they can eat animal
products which can obtain from animals such as cheese, milk, and eggs, so they
are ovo lacto vegetarians (ovo = egg; lacto = milk, cheese, etc. But it is also true that
ratio of those people who do not want to come near animal products for eating. In this
way they are rapidly growing so that s way this type of people are considered to as
pure vegetarians or vegans.
Some latest researches show that vegetarian diet is very healthy habit. So in this
way we can see that the health benefits are increasing day by day by the abstaining
of animal s diet or meat. In this manner it can be said that the vegetarian diet is
healthy in all the way.

You re Not Cool at All Essay
While all the other children are in school learning, and being; for the most part,
obedient and civil youngsters , the seven dropouts being cool at the golden shovel in
the story We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks do not realize the amount of damage
their doing to their futures by living the lifestyles they do. The workis a condensed yet
concise statement on the recklessness of youth who are like cars without brakes in
the frenzy of youth. They do not anticipate an accident awaiting them in their
uncontrolled life. They do whatever they perceive to be real cool, (1) and this
nonchalant uncaring way is the latest in thing to do. As they take pride in declaring
that they had left school and they lurk late (3). Throughout the poem... Show more

Brook s use of connotative language brings to light the negative outlook the
speakers have on living within the social contract. The seven speakers are wild and
unruly, they do not care for what laws or regulations are set upon them, they would
not obey them regardless. The poem declares that they recently dropped out of
school and therefore are not old enough to be doing any of the things there doing at
the golden shovel such as jazzing june, (7) and thinning gin, (6); which could be
taken to mean dancing and drinking, which isn t all too terrible but still to adult for
the speakers either way. These could also be taken to mean sex and watering down
the gin to rip off customers. Brooks makes the reader wonder what the boys are
doing until late at night or exactly what sins the speakers are reveling about, but
either way Brooks leaves this open to allow the reader to perceive it one way or
another through the language of the work which is so incorrect as to show an
even greater lack of care for rules. After dropping out of school and having no
respect for guidelines of any sort, this type of wording shows this perfectly. The
wording of the title also brings a metaphysical layer to the story. The subtitle Seven
at The Golden Shovel, adds to the fast and glorious way the speakers are
Coal Mining
Coal mining is not only a dangerous job, but also life threatening and deadly. Many
accidents have happened over the years and coal mining is less popular than it was
when it first started. Even though today fifty percent of our electricity is powered
by coal. There are four different types of coalmines, each very different. The first type
are drift or slope mines, they are driven into valley walls near seams of coal. The
second types of mines are shaft mines, these types of mines use pumps to remove
water. Boreholes are drilled to relieve water pressure for safer mining. The third
types of mines are surface mines. Surface mines use draglines, which can remove up
to 200ft of coal in a single pass. A dragline is a machine used in surface... Show more

coal mine with the most production is the Thunder Basin Coal CO. The Black
Thunder mine is in Wyoming, which in 1994 produced 31,651,762 tons of coal.
The average weekly pay for a coal miner is $903.76 and about $39,067.60 per year.
You can surface mine on both mountains and plains. Coal is a fossil fuel, because it
was formed from the remains of vegetation that grew as long as 400 million years
ago. A fossil fuel is a naturally occurring fuel of organic nature, such as coal, crude
oil and natural gases. It is often referred to as buried sunshine because the plants
which formed coal captured energy from the sun through photosynthesis to create the
compounds that makes up plant tissue. Photosynthesis is the process by which
green plants convert light to energy by transforming carbon dioxide and water into
carbon hydrates. There are about 267 billion tons or, thirteen percent, of known
American reserves in the United States. The most important element in the plant
material is carbon, which gives coal most of its energy. Most of the coal today was
formed about 300 million years ago, when steamy swamps covered most of the
earth. As plants and trees died, their remains sank to the bottom of the swampy areas,
accumulating layer upon layer and eventually forming a soggy dense material called
peat. Peat is a
Essay On The Grand Inquisitor By Nietzsche
For what is freedom? That one has the will to assume responsibility for oneself.
(Nietzsche. Twilight of the Idols. Trans. Hollingdale. Sect. 38). Everyone desires
freedom but everyone cannot handle the responsibilities of freedom. I will compare
J.S. Mill s views on the social function of freedom with that of Fyodor Dostoevsky s
characters from both, the novel Notes From Undergroundand the excerpt; The Grand
Inquisitor, also drawing supplementary arguments from Friedrich Nietzsche, while
expressing my views alongside.
Mill s core assumption of man is that he is a rational being who will strive to
maximize his own utility. I regard utility as the ultimate appeal... on the permanent
interests of man as a progressive being. (Mill. On ... Show more content on

Come, try, give anyone of us, for instance, a little more independence, untie our
hands, widen the spheres of our activities, relax the controls and we yes, I assure you
we would immediately beg to be under control again. (Dostoevsky. Notes From
Underground. Trans. Matlaw. 121).
Man was created a rebel; and how can rebels be happy? (Dostoevsky. The Grand
Inquisitor. Trans. Matlaw. 131). Nietzsche elaborates on this point by affirming the
idea that we are made up of two instinctual drives: the Dionysian, which causes us
to be passionate, impulsive and unrestrained, and the Apollonian which makes us
disciplined, restrained and controlled beings. Mill and other utilitarian s like
Jeremy Bentham denies the former. I embrace this idea that most of us are
creatures of chaos, who are born wild and need to be tamed by the structures of
society. What type of society would we live in if people did not believe in sins, or
heaven and hell? Although we would like to deny it, the reality is that the greater
majority of the human race is not capable of living without paternalistic laws, and
moral limitations that stem from religious doctrines. J.S. Mill would strongly
disagree with this statement: That the only purpose for which power can be
rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to
prevent harm to others.
Essay on Man and Nature in The Grapes of Wrath
Man and Nature in The Grapes of Wrath
In The Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck uses both obvious references and subtle
contrasts to emphasize the main theme of the novel: the sanctity of man s
relationship to the natural world and to each other.
Machines have no place in this relationship. They act as a barrier between men and
the land. They are dangerous because they perform the function of men with greater
efficiency, but they lack the spiritual element that makes the land so valuable.
Chapter five uses imagery to detail the evil inherent in the plowing of land by a
machine:
Behind the tractor rolled the shining disks, cutting the earth with blades not plowing
but surgery, pushing the cut earth to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company is seeking what will drive profit; it does not care for the long term
effects on the land and will rob it of its nutrients. Furthermore, when the land is
disconnected from the men who eat its produce, it dies a spiritual death. When no
person is there to worship it, it ceases to be holy.
Not only does the land suffer from a break in the sacred connection between farmer
and crops, the men lose a part of their humanity to the machine. Those men who run
the tractors are described in the novel as being part of the monster (Steinbeck, 48).
They have given their humanity to the company in return for money to buy food
that was produced by machines, not by men. Chapter eleven describes the slow
degrading of the spirits of the tractor men and the migrants who no longer know the
land. The slow deterioration of the houses, with no people to care for and be
sheltered by them, is symbolic of the death of the land and the people when they are
not connected. (Steinbeck 158 159)
Just as a tractor is composed of thousands of iron parts, working smoothly and
without knowledge or passion about the results of their labor, the company is made
of men who work rigidly and disinterestedly at the tasks assigned to them. The
machines sever the people from the
The Pros And Cons Of The Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath are a very controversial band which was criticized because of the
messages they were said to send. As Graholm claims in his article Ritual Black
Metal Popular Music as Occult Mediation and Practice , Black Sabbath had a
certain flirtation with darker occult themes, apparent in the name of the band itself
as well as in image and lyrics (Granholm 13). Their name was one of the reasons
why they were considered devilish. Nevertheless, their original name was Earth
and the choice of Black Sabbath was only a compromise, because there was
another band with that name in England. Another controversy regards where the
name came from. Some people argue that it derives from a movie called Black
Sabbath , and there was also a book written by Wheatle with this name. Their first
album did not refer to Satan at all, but the record label made it look like it did with
the appearance of the Satanist Anton LaVey. The British release of the album
featured an upside down cross inside the cover. These additions were made without
the consent of the band, only to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The anger and the obscure tones seem to be part of it since it was born. However,
in this modern society the stereotypes that link heavy metal to Satanism should
already have been overcome. Indeed, it was more understandable back in the 1970s
when it first appeared, while nowadays people should be able to see that it is a type
of music just like others. Listening to music is not the cause of massacres such as
the Columbine High School Massacre, which was certainly a terrible event and
people should reflect about it, but it should not be connected to music. The real
reflections should regard social contexts which may influence people, or the need that
some people have to create turmoil just to feel
Essay on Setting in Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan Boyle
Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan Boyle
Nature has a powerful way of portraying good vs. bad, which parallels to the same
concept intertwined with human nature. In the story Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan
Boyle, the author portrays this through the use of a lake by demonstrating its
significance and relationship to the characters. At one time, the Greasy Lake was
something of beauty and cleanliness, but then came to be the exact opposite. Through
his writing, Boyle demonstrates how the setting can be a direct reflection of the
characters and the experiences they encounter.
The lake itself plays a major role throughout the story, as it mirrors the characters
almost exactly. For example, the lake is described as being fetid and ... Show more

It is ironic that not only is the lake named Greasy Lake, but the individuals who hang
out there are also referred to as being greasy characters as well. The 3 main
characters find themselves surrounded by dangerous characters, and get stuck in the
middle of a huge fight. As if things aren t bad enough, the main characters then
attempt to rape a girl that is with the man they just fought. Very soon after more
people show up ready to join in the deviant behavior, all while in the presence of
this dirty, disgusting lake. I d struck down one greasy character, and blundered into
the waterlogged carcass of a second (128). No matter what the main characters do, or
how they react to the conflicts presented, they constantly find themselves in the
presence of more greasy characters at the greasy lake.
The author also makes a connection between the lake and the characters in his use of
the word nature. Fairly early in the story Boyle explains that the characters go to the
lake to plunge into the festering murk, drink beer, smoke pot, howl at the stars which
again shows us the connection between the disgusting lake and the deviant teen boys.
(125). Boyle then concludes the paragraph by saying, This was nature, which
describes the attitudes and behaviors of the teenagers that go to the lake (125). Yet

A Brief Note On Iowa Beef Packers ( Ibp )
While America s economy has fluctuated significantly throughout the last century,
growth has remained consistent in the meatpacking industry; companies like IBP
Inc. reported profits of $198 million on sales of $12.5 billion back in 1997
(Hettena, Seth. 1997). Today, Iowa Beef Packers (IBP) is one of four companies
including ConAgra, National Beef and Excel that collectively comprise the
meatpacking industry in United States. Excel is a subsidiary of Cargill, which
alone controls 85 percent of the market (Gzedit. 2001). Unions, which are in place
to prevent workers rights from being overlooked, now find themselves far removed
from the locations of factories owned by these companies, and more
undocumented workers are being hired with little to no incentive for change.
Decades ago, meatpacking was centered in labor friendly urban areas. But the giant
stockyards of Chicago, Fort Worth and Kansas City are long gone. The industry
built huge plants closer to the livestock and in right to work states where unions are
far less popular (Sharon. 2006). Unions are not providing adequate protection for the
workers, and more undocumented workers are being hired, which raises a question:
are illegal immigrants taking advantage of the system, or is the system taking
advantage of them? Risks and Subsequent Changes The risks associated with
working in meatpacking factories have plagued the industry for a long time. Upton

On May 16, 1991 Gates announced to Microsoft employees that the OS/2
partnership was over and Microsoft would henceforth focus its platform efforts on
Windows and the NT kernel. In the ensuing years OS/2 fell to the side and
Windows became the favored PC platform. Some years later, Microsoft s Internet
Explorer web browser displaced Netscape s Navigator, in a turn of events that
many attributed to Microsoft s inclusion of Internet Explorer in Windows at no
extra charge. An opposing view is that the inclusion in Windows was less
important in Internet Explorer s adoption than Microsoft s improvement of the
browser s features to a level comparable with Navigator. As the architect of
Microsoft s product strategy, Gates has aggressively broadened the company s
range of products and, once it has obtained a leading position in a category, has
vigorously defended that position. His and other Microsoft executives strategic

Comparing Joe Clulow And Vassor
The manual transmission is thought to have been invented by Joe Clulow and
Г‰mile Levassor in the late 19th century. This type of transmission offered multiple
gear ratios and, in most cases, reverse. The gears were typically engaged by sliding
them on their shafts which required careful timing and throttle manipulation when
shifting, so the gears would be spinning at roughly the same speed when engaged;
otherwise, the teeth would refuse to mesh. These transmissions are called sliding
mesh transmissions or sometimes crash boxes, because of the difficulty in changing
gears and the loud grinding sound that often accompanied. Newer manual
transmissions on cars have all gears mesh at all times and are referred to as constant
mesh transmissions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To shift to a higher gear, the transmission is put in neutral and the engine allowed to
slow down until the transmission parts for the next gear are at a proper speed to
engage. The vehicle also slows while in neutral and that slows other transmission
parts, so the time in neutral depends on the grade, wind, and other such factors. To
shift to a lower gear, the transmission is put in neutral and the throttle is used to speed
up the engine and thus the relevant transmission parts, to match speeds for engaging
the next lower gear. For both upshifts and downshifts, the clutch is released while in
neutral. Some drivers use the clutch only for starting from a stop, and shifts are done
without the clutch. Other drivers will depress the clutch, shift to neutral, then engage
the clutch momentarily to force transmission parts to match the engine speed, then
depress the clutch again to shift to the next gear, a process called double clutching.
Double clutching is easier to get smooth, as speeds that are close but not quite
matched need to speed up or slow down only transmission parts, whereas with the
clutch engaged to the engine, mismatched speeds are fighting the rotational inertia
and power of the

stacked against them and were surrounded by death but still they survived. The
Holocaust started on January 30, 1933 and ended on May 8, 1945. During the
Holocaust around 11 million jews, gypsies, mentally ill people, disabled people, and
anyone else Adolf Hitler didn t see fit were killed. Hitler had an ideal master race in
mind for Germany. These people were tall, had blond hair, and had blue eyes. Hitler
and his party members, Nazis, sent the people they thought that didn t fit in to
camps. In these camps they were forced to live and work in poor conditions until the
Nazis decided to kill them. Not many people ... Show more content on

Many survivors are still having to deal with effects of the Holocaust today. Some
survivors are still being affected by being starved during wartime. Today they have
higher rates of osteoporosis, cancer, and other medical conditions likely related to
being starved during the Holocaust. Survivors have higher nutritional needs today
than the general elderly population and meeting those needs are costly. Most
survivors are poverty stricken, making it hard for them to eat healthy and get the
nutrients they need. An estimated one third of the Holocaust survivors in America
live at or below the poverty line. 80 percent of Holocaust survivors in the former
Soviet Union are living in poverty. Some holocaust survivors don t have families,
either they didn t marry, have or couldn t have kids, or their family died in the

Comparing Luke s Gospel And Matthew
The Gospel Writer
The story of Jesus heals a Roman officer s servant was written in he book of Luke
and Matthew. The only Gentile Christian writer of the New Testament was Luke.
Gospel of Luke is the third of the four Gospels of the New Testament, which tells the
story of Jesus. Luke did not live during Jesus life, but he investigated his life very
carefully. Matthew s gospel was written just after Luke s in 90 A.D. Matthew s
Gospel was written in Greek because many parts of the Gospel are the same as
Mark s, which was also written in Greek. Both Matthew and Luke used Mark as a
source. Matthew s Gospel was most likely written in either Palestine or Syria.
Matthew s Gospel was likely written for Christians of Jewish descent. The message ...

A centurion is a commander of a 100 man army and a servant is someone who
performs duties for others without choice. There is no mention of women in this
story, as they are not treated with much respect or as regular people in society
unlike males. There is nothing mentioned in this story about social groups such as
the Pharisees as it is mostly based around the Jesus, the Centurion and his servant.
Jesus reveals his surprise as he describes the Servant as a very faithful man and that
he has never seen anyone like this before. The centurion initiates action by calling
for Jewish Elders to find Jesus and tell him that his servant needs his help. Through
the story Jesus interacts with all the characters, the Centurion, the servant and the
Jewish Elders. The Servant interacts with everyone except the Elders. While the
Centurion is like Jesus, he interacts with everyone. Words that the writer uses to get
his message across are, they came to Jesus and begged him earnestly, This man really
deserves your help . This gives the view that Jesus is a very important man and is the
one people look to. The point of the text is to post a view and image of who Jesus is
and how capable he is with performing miracles on people who need it

Essay about The Social Security Program
Introduction
Social Security provides for the needs of a country s citizens when they are no longer
able to provide for themselves through gainful employment, is an issue that evokes
multiple viewpoints. Before laying the framework of the argument for meaningful
change to social security program, the program itself must be defined. The Social
Security Program is based on the premise during your productive working years you
pay a percentage of your income as a tax into the social security system, at some point
in the future either by retirement or disability you or your beneficiaries (dependents,
children, or survivors) receive monthly benefits; based on your reported earnings
(United States Government, 2014). As actuaries, policy makers, ... Show more content

The OASI Trustees 2012 report estimates that an additional 1.75% of payroll tax
would fund the current and future generations benefits at the current level (The
Board of Trustees, 2012). The report further states that a reduction in benefits for
future generations, not past or current generations must also come into effect (The
Board of Trustees, 2012). The report however highlights that an optional additional
level of pay in should be created, allowing persons of future generations who would
like to maintain the current benefit level to do so (The Board of Trustees, 2012).
The final step to making social security structurally viable is the restructuring of its
debt; to past generations by allocating 2% of current payments towards it exclusively
(Gokhale, 2013). With these changes past, current, and future generations can
continue to benefit from social security, while the program stay s true to its core
values of providing persons with the minimum level of income, when they are no
longer capable of working due to their age.
The final structural change that will improve the viability of social security is raising
the age requirement to receive the full benefits of social security. The obvious effects
of lifting the age requirements is the number of payments to individuals is reduced,
the number of persons

Format Of An Argumentative Essay

  • 1. Format Of An Argumentative Essay Writing an essay on the format of an argumentative essay may initially seem like a straightforward task, but as one delves into the intricacies of crafting a well-structured and compelling argument, the complexity becomes apparent. The challenge lies not only in presenting a coherent thesis statement but also in organizing the content effectively to build a persuasive case. Firstly, one must grasp the fundamental components of an argumentative essay: introduction, thesis statement, body paragraphs, counterarguments, and conclusion. Ensuring a seamless flow between these sections requires a keen understanding of logical progression and effective transitions. Each paragraph should contribute to the overall argument, and maintaining a balance between supporting evidence and counterarguments adds an extra layer of difficulty. Furthermore, the choice of language is crucial. Crafting a compelling argument demands a command of rhetoric, persuasive techniques, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly. Striking the right balance between formality and accessibility can be challenging, as the tone must be appropriate for both the subject matter and the intended audience. Research skills play a pivotal role in the difficulty of this task. Gathering relevant and credible sources to bolster the argument requires time and discernment. Additionally, synthesizing information from diverse sources while maintaining a coherent narrative can be a daunting aspect of the writing process. Editing and revising also pose challenges. Summary Of Joann Murray s Someone s Mother Summary for Joann Murray s Someone s Mother Joann Murray s essay on Someone s Mother, describes a time when she was driving down the highway in Albany, coming from a dentist appointment when she spotted a hitchhiker. Now this is nothing unusual for hitchhikers to be on this highway but it was something about this one that captured Joan s attention. She was half way down the road but her intuition made her make a U turn and go back. Another reason she turned around is because the lady would not stop waving until she stopped. This hitchhiker was different from most hitchhikers, she had on a raincoat and a black hat and her hair was white. As Joan approached her, she could tell that she was an old lady. She was under the impression the old lady s vehicle had broken down but there was no vehicle in sight. The lady informed Joan that she just needed a ride to Nassau, which was three miles away. While riding down the road she found out the lady was ninety two years old and was apparently was out for a walk. The old lady begged Joan to drop her off at a drugstore in town instead of at her residence. This made Joan reminisce about the time when her ninety year old mothercalled her brother and said she did not remember how to get dressed anymore. Shortly after that, Joan had to put her mother in a nursing home. Joan began to realize the lady had been lost before, especially after seeing a white dove pinned to her collar. Identifying Communication Styles As A Training Professional Identifying Communication Styles As a training professional, you need to be able to differentiate effective and ineffective communication styles, and understand that their style of communication may often conflict with the way messages are interpreted. By understanding different communication styles, we can help our students begin to understand how to separate the message from the communication style of the person with whom they are communicating and to appropriately respond to the content of the message. Examples would be a supervisor saying to a subordinate in loud and angry tone of voice ...can t you do anything right? (aggressive style) or a shop clerk rolling her eyes back as she tells the customer rummaging through her purse take your time, I m not busy at all (passive aggressive style). Our communication skills are developed based upon our education, attitudes, and preconceived notions. The good news is that communication styles can be changed with effort and the right attitude. No matter your style, effective communication always includes positive feedback. Constructive comments help those you are speaking with to feel good about themselves, to feel more comfortable and confident trying new things, to grow, to be heard and to be taken seriously. Critical and judgmental comments will inhibit growth and learning. For example: Critical/Negative Feedback Your voice is way too low. Nobody will hear a word you have to say! Try it again! This is the question that this essay endeavors to answer as it scrutinizes the social policies issued by Idi Amin Dada s administration throughout his eight year long reign over Uganda. This essay will analyze the events of Idi Amins rule from 1971 to 1979 as a response to the decade prior to Uganda s independence in 1962 and the interim period between them from 1962 to 1971. Links between Idi Amin s ruthless social policies and Uganda s colonial past became apparently negative which posed the query, to what extent were these social policies a detrimental response? The focus of this piece is to illustrate the extent to which Idi Amin s social policies, issued in varying degree from 1971 to 1979, served as an overwhelmingly detrimental and negative response to a time when Britain ceased greater control and influence over Uganda. It is noteworthy because it provides an answer and origin to a nation that endured a dictatorship with a lack of ethical and substantial social reform for nearly a decade. Instead a subservient military overtook the Ugandan parliament in an attempt to force a self interested agenda upon its diverse population. The question to investigate then becomes, to what extent were the social policies of the Idi Amin administration a detrimental response to Uganda s colonial past? Beasley s Southern Bistro Beasley s Southern Bistro, located at 2203 McKinley Road in Johnson City (locals will remember the building as the old Klopman Mills), moved from its location on South Roan Street. • 14. The Spotless Mind Next I will start discussing the ethical issues represented in the other film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This film deals with the ethical implications concerning memory loss. In the film, Joel and Clementine, who are ex lovers, remove memories of each other. If you could erase someone from your life, would you? The act of erasing a person s memory appears at first so highly unethical, even when the characters in the film have actually requested for it. The early stages of the film suggests, however, that Joel and Clementine s relationship were not working out well, and so they eventually chose to wipe it off from their memories for their own happiness. According to utilitarianism, by which an act is ethical as long as it maximizes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant s categorical imperative states two main points: to act out of duty, and to never use people as a means. Although all people are given the freedom to make their own choices, removing our memories actually limits our own freedom, and is the same as living a lie. The film suggests that to remember does not solely imply the retainment of a memory, but it also includes taking responsibility for one s own actions ( for my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to the know the worst, and to provide for it (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 2004). Kant states that persons, as rationale agents, have a capacity for freedom and dignity, and deserve respect. However, in the film, through memory removal, the value of truth gets distorted and leads the characters to actually reject themselves. What makes this self objectification ironic is that this is the consequence of the procedure that had been self consented. What makes this even more contradictory is that they are using their own rights and freedom to actually limit their freedom which under Kant s rationale is considered problematic. There is an obvious lack of self respect in the film as everyone is characterized by self destruction: Joel s depression, Clementine s alcoholism, and Mary s insecurity, which are all self harming activities. The unethical issue of memory removal in the film is also derived from the very nature of the technology itself, as it is portrayed as misguided and dangerous. The people who actually prescribe the procedure also seem to have no respect for the value of memory, and the possible consequences that might follow. Thus, Kantianism, in direct contrast to Utilitarianism, would not consent to the memory removal procedure in the film no matter what the reason is or the consequences that

Although we would like to deny it, the reality is that the greater majority of the human race is not capable of living without paternalistic laws, and moral limitations that stem from religious doctrines. Their name was one of the reasons why they were considered devilish. Nevertheless, their original name was Earth and the choice of Black Sabbath was only a compromise, because there was another band with that name in England. Another controversy regards where the name came from. Some people argue that it derives from a movie called Black Sabbath , and there was also a book written by Wheatle with this name. Listening to music is not the cause of massacres such as the Columbine High School Massacre, which was certainly a terrible event and people should reflect about it, but it should not be connected to music. • 26. Essay on Setting in Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan Boyle Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan Boyle Nature has a powerful way of portraying good vs. bad, which parallels to the same concept intertwined with human nature. In the story Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan Boyle, the author portrays this through the use of a lake by demonstrating its significance and relationship to the characters. At one time, the Greasy Lake was something of beauty and cleanliness, but then came to be the exact opposite. Through his writing, Boyle demonstrates how the setting can be a direct reflection of the characters and the experiences they encounter. The lake itself plays a major role throughout the story, as it mirrors the characters almost exactly. For example, the lake is described as being fetid and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is ironic that not only is the lake named Greasy Lake, but the individuals who hang out there are also referred to as being greasy characters as well. The 3 main characters find themselves surrounded by dangerous characters, and get stuck in the middle of a huge fight. As if things aren t bad enough, the main characters then attempt to rape a girl that is with the man they just fought. Very soon after more people show up ready to join in the deviant behavior, all while in the presence of this dirty, disgusting lake. I d struck down one greasy character, and blundered into the waterlogged carcass of a second (128). No matter what the main characters do, or how they react to the conflicts presented, they constantly find themselves in the presence of more greasy characters at the greasy lake. The author also makes a connection between the lake and the characters in his use of the word nature. Fairly early in the story Boyle explains that the characters go to the lake to plunge into the festering murk, drink beer, smoke pot, howl at the stars which again shows us the connection between the disgusting lake and the deviant teen boys. A Brief Note On Iowa Beef Packers ( Ibp ) While America s economy has fluctuated significantly throughout the last century, growth has remained consistent in the meatpacking industry; companies like IBP Inc. reported profits of $198 million on sales of $12.5 billion back in 1997 (Hettena, Seth. 1997). Today, Iowa Beef Packers (IBP) is one of four companies including ConAgra, National Beef and Excel that collectively comprise the meatpacking industry in United States. Excel is a subsidiary of Cargill, which alone controls 85 percent of the market (Gzedit. 2001). Unions, which are in place to prevent workers rights from being overlooked, now find themselves far removed from the locations of factories owned by these companies, and more undocumented workers are being hired with little to no incentive for change. Decades ago, meatpacking was centered in labor friendly urban areas. But the giant stockyards of Chicago, Fort Worth and Kansas City are long gone. The industry built huge plants closer to the livestock and in right to work states where unions are far less popular (Sharon. 2006). Unions are not providing adequate protection for the workers, and more undocumented workers are being hired, which raises a question: are illegal immigrants taking advantage of the system, or is the system taking advantage of them? Risks and Subsequent Changes The risks associated with working in meatpacking factories have plagued the industry for a long time. Upton Sinclair s The Jungle exposed the repulsive dangers and perils

  • 36. Comparing Joe Clulow And Vassor The manual transmission is thought to have been invented by Joe Clulow and Г‰mile Levassor in the late 19th century. This type of transmission offered multiple gear ratios and, in most cases, reverse. The gears were typically engaged by sliding them on their shafts which required careful timing and throttle manipulation when shifting, so the gears would be spinning at roughly the same speed when engaged; otherwise, the teeth would refuse to mesh. These transmissions are called sliding mesh transmissions or sometimes crash boxes, because of the difficulty in changing gears and the loud grinding sound that often accompanied. Newer manual transmissions on cars have all gears mesh at all times and are referred to as constant mesh transmissions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To shift to a higher gear, the transmission is put in neutral and the engine allowed to slow down until the transmission parts for the next gear are at a proper speed to engage. The vehicle also slows while in neutral and that slows other transmission parts, so the time in neutral depends on the grade, wind, and other such factors. To shift to a lower gear, the transmission is put in neutral and the throttle is used to speed up the engine and thus the relevant transmission parts, to match speeds for engaging the next lower gear. For both upshifts and downshifts, the clutch is released while in neutral. Some drivers use the clutch only for starting from a stop, and shifts are done without the clutch. Other drivers will depress the clutch, shift to neutral, then engage the clutch momentarily to force transmission parts to match the engine speed, then depress the clutch again to shift to the next gear, a process called double clutching. Double clutching is easier to get smooth, as speeds that are close but not quite matched need to speed up or slow down only transmission parts, whereas with the clutch engaged to the engine, mismatched speeds are fighting the rotational inertia and power of the

The report however highlights that an optional additional level of pay in should be created, allowing persons of future generations who would like to maintain the current benefit level to do so (The Board of Trustees, 2012). The final step to making social security structurally viable is the restructuring of its debt; to past generations by allocating 2% of current payments towards it exclusively (Gokhale, 2013). With these changes past, current, and future generations can continue to benefit from social security, while the program stay s true to its core values of providing persons with the minimum level of income, when they are no longer capable of working due to their age. The obvious effects of lifting the age requirements is the number of payments to individuals is reduced, the number of persons
