Things Fall Apart Tragic Hero Essay
Chinua Achebe s novel, Things Fall Apart , is a classic postcolonial novel about a man named
Okonkwo who was a well known man in his village in Nigeria. He is a man that has a very thin
temper and is portrayed as a tragic hero, Okonkwo fits Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero
pretty well. Okonkwo s demise was ultimately caused by his fatal flaw. A cultural identity crisis
had little to no minimal impact on his demise; rather, his fatal flaw of a bad temper and fear of
being thought of as weak had the biggest impact on his demise. Aristotle s conception of a tragic
hero includes that he is a character of a noble or high status, Okonkwo fits this because, Okonkwo
was well known throughout the nine villages and even beyond. . He also has... Show more content

Okonkwo doesn t fully fit this, while he does have both positive and negative qualities, his
negative qualities outweigh his positive. Some of his positive qualities are he s physically
strong, he s successful and he s an honorable man. Some of his negative qualities are he has a
really quick temper, he is full of pride, he s a weak minded person and he does things solely
based upon how he feels and doesn t think things through. In the novel Okonkwo can t control his
temper or anger very well. He is an abusive and weak man who does terrible things just to ensure
that he isn t seen as weak, which coincidentally makes him a weak person. The character has a
fatal flaw. Okonkwo fits this since the things that led him to his downfall are his fatal flaws of a
bad temper and fear of weakness. He killed Ikemefuna because he was afraid that the men would
think he was weak, Dazed with fear, Okonkwo drew his machete and cut him down. He was
afraid of being thought weak. He beats his wives and shot and one because his temper gotten out
of control. A tragic hero is classified as one with a large capacity of suffering, Okonkwo fits this

Heart Of Darkness Kurtz Essay
Joseph Conrad in his book, Heart of Darkness, retells what he experienced in the Congo from the
point of view of his main character, Marlow. Conrad uses many characters to express Freudian
Psychoanalysis, and through each of these characters, Conrad depicts something about European
culture. One of the most prevalent characters that represents this is Kurtz. Kurtz is the most
imperialistic character in the entire book. Conrad, by using Id, Ego, and Superego, shows how
complete lack of society can cause people to devolve as shown by the character of Kurtz and the
difficulties of Conrad s life are also shown through characters and by Marlow who is a
representation of Conrad. Sigmund Freud theorized that the unconscious mind has a great influence

On the pamphlet Marlow discovers a post scriptum that has Exterminate all the brutes scratched
onto the bottom of it (Conrad 45). This foreshadows a change in Kurtz since he was the person
who wrote the pamphlet. Since this does happen to Kurtz, it shows in a similar fashion to
William Golding that humans will innately devolve back to savages. In fact, Conrad takes this a
step farther by showing that Kurtz had completely lost all of his morals. There was nothing
either above or below him this shows that Kurtz had completely gotten rid of all of his morals
(Conrad 60). Unlike Golding who still had characters that had morals or wanted to keep an
image of themselves up. Following Marlow s arrival at Kurtz s camp and taking him to the boat,
Kurtz crawls away from the ship to try and return to the natives. This has importance for Kurtz in
both a physical and societal way the former being the fact that it shows Kurtz is basically an
animal since he is crawling. The more important way is the societal way because it shows the
juxtaposition between Kurtz s views on the pamphlet and what is currently happening. In the
pamphlet, Kurtz says that we approach them with the might as of a deity which shows that before

Death And The Maiden Rationality
Rationality vs. Will Power: A Fight for Closure Psychological damage strikes the core of an
individual and can lead to irrational actions and poor judgement. Through an examination of
Paulina Salas actions throughout Death and the Maiden, Ariel Dorfman successfully characterizes
her as a survivor through her fight for closure. Although her ways may not seem rational, her fight
symbolizes the desperation felt by victims of the torture in Chile. This demonstrates that strength
cannot always be measured in rationality, but more so in the will power of an individual. This is
seen in the way Paulina acts towards Dr. Roberto Miranda, her reaction to Gerardo joining the
Rettig Commission, and her search for personal justice for the duration of the... Show more content

Paulina believes there will be no justice for her, and when she finds out about Gerardo s new
task, her pursuit for what is right begins to develop, and Dorfman is able to characterize her as
damaged and wanting justice prior to the introduction of Dr. Miranda. Gerardo was appointed as
the lawyer to the Rettig Report created by the first democratic president Patricio Aylwin to
investigate humans rights violations following Augusto Pinochet s communist rule of Chile. The
commission only pursued violations ending in death or presumption of death and the idea is
that if [the commission] throw light on the worst crimes, other abuses will also come to light
(9). Paulina starts to get edgy and starts getting defensive towards Gerardo after she discovers the
commission only investigates cases of death, and this means Paulina would not receive a trial.
This makes Paulina furious, as she was under the impression that her and Gerardo would be able
to put Paulina s torturer and the others all on trial. Another key phrase that demonstrates Paulina s
continuous fight for the justice she deserves is when Gerardo refers to the cases he will
investigate as the ones that are beyond let s say, repair. and Paulina responds with Beyond repair.
Irreparable, huh? (9) To Paulina, her case is beyond repair too, and to a high degree. She is
haunted to listen to Schubert, just because of her torture.

Outsourcing Research Paper
Throughout my paper, my point is to portray the effect of the outsourcing of American occupations
abroad. There are two strong arguments with outsourcing: one that accepts the handiness and
profits of the outsourcing and the other that energetically restricts outsourcing and focus on its
negatives. Government organizations accept that outsourcingmay decrease the expense of the
assembling of items and give administrations less expensive cost, and others feel that outsourcing
has triggered huge layoffs and loss of jobs. America needs to cease outsourcing due to the negative
effects it has on our country. Outsourcing takes occupations away from Americans, causes
considerably more economic issues, and can lessen the quality of materials.... Show more content on

The driving components for outsourcing are clear: lesser expenses all the way around. A machine
software engineer in India makes $5,880 to $11,000, while an American machine software engineer
wins in the middle of $60,000 and $80,000. American organizations stand to spare measures of cash
by outsourcing. Today, gauges of employment misfortune in the United Statespropose that in the
last ten years, between 400,000 to 500,000 data engineering preparing jobs have been outsourced.
While this speaks to a moderately little parcel of the United States work power of around 130
million laborers (Tyson), concerns over the loss of profoundly talented employees and expectations
that the outsourcing pattern will keep on growing have made outsourcing an imperative and
questionable subject. Unfortunately, the wave of outsourcing is going to continue in the United
States, and it is only going to get worse. A UC Berkeley s Haas School of Business study noted
that near 11 percent of all occupations in the United States are helpless to outsourcing. Further,
gauges demonstrate that outsourcing is going to be an ongoing Phenom, as Forrester Research
evaluates that by 2015, the United States will lose 3.3 million jobs to outsourcing. Different
assessments are higher, as Researchers Ashok Deo Bardhan and

A Brief Note On The United States Security

trust within America. Faith in humanity was lost and now we need faith more then ever, we
have lost what we call our security blanket. Every time we open a newspaper or watch the news
after a long day of work we have the temptation to despair, filling ourselves with fear more and
more each day. Everyone in our eyes is the next terrorist or serial killer. America has never been
as fearful as it is now. I have grown up in a world where technology multiplies and get bigger
each day. Media portrays all that is going on within the world and it has become a sick routine to
watch the devastating news every morning and night making Americans numb to what goes on
in society. We have changed our ways more than any other country in this world. The most
obvious changes Americans have faced after September 11th 2001 take place at airports.

The Government Of Hong Kong Essay
There have been several solutions informed to the government of Hong Kong to encourage green
features such as communal gardens, sunshades and reflectors, wind catchers and noise barriers. (Lo,
2005). The need for green architecture is expanded within this book, justifying the demand in
adopting sustainability within high density cities. Energy efficient designs and renewable energy
sources in buildings have become a world trend in striving for a sustainable future. (Lo, 2005) The
inevitable growing capacity of population and urbanization leads to perceiving high density cities as
a problem. However the sustainabilityintegration will help reduce the energy usage, diminish the
use of fossil fuels and develop new ways to designing architecture.
4.
Do buildings and cities, in the way they are currently built, contribute to green economy and
growth? (Aboulnaga, 2014) The book illustrates how sustainability enhances architecture in the
long term, but also seeks for solutions such as renewable energy, and promoting energy efficient
buildings. There are features to classifying a sustainable building, such as site and surroundings,
energy efficiency, renewable energy use, water consumption, materials etc.

Perhaps the implementation of sustainability in Hong Kong is appropriate due to giving aid to the
damage made towards the surrounding environment. A building with a creative concept is sensitive

Water Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment
Water covers almost 75% of the earth s surface and is undoubtedly our most precious natural
resource that exists on our planet today. There won t be any living organism on our planet without
water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large
amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden] Pollutions such as sewage and
fertilizers contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. At high levels, nutrients can over
stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms
consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygenas they decompose, and block light to
deeper waters.[David Krantz] This could be very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the
respiration ability of fish and other creatures of the sea. Pollution is also caused when silt and
other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites,
urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains.[David Krantz] Pollution in the form of
organic material enters waterways in many different forms as sewage, as leaves and grass
clippings, or as runoff from livestock feedlots and pastures. When natural bacteria and protozoan
in the water break down this organic material, they begin to use up the oxygen dissolved in the
water. Many types of fish and bottom dwelling animals cannot survive when levels of dissolved
oxygen drop below two to five parts per million. When this occurs, it

Richard Wilbur s Death Of A Toad
All creatures on Earth that have a purpose of life should be viewed as equals to everyone. In
Richard Wilbur s Death of a Toad he reflects on the thoughts that all people even a toad might have
thought when nearing the time of death. Through careful structure, diction, and graphic imagery, it
shows his regards towards the deathof the toad as well as his transformation from uncaring to
compassionate.
The division of the stanzas leads the emotional rollercoaster that the speaker undergoes. The
poem opens with the speaker s graphic observation, A toad the power mower caught. He seemed
unsympathetic towards the toad and it is evident in the description given in the next few lines
about the toad s injury. When the toad hid in the cineraria leaves, the speaker shows some interest.
He at least concludes that the toad will die in this final glade . In the second stanza, the physical
appearance of the toad is depicted by gruesome images. His leg was chewed and chopped while he

Analysis Of The Book Comic Party Poster Essay

comic party poster
Summary: Just when high school nears the close, a Japanese student named Kazuki and his
girlfriend, is pulled by his scheming best friend Taishi into the world of fan comics. As Kazuki s
obsession with finishing his comic in time for the next convention threatens his schoolwork and his
relationships, he must decide how he will use his time or risk losing Mizuki.
STORY 4.1
Tragically, it has been a long time since I watched the show, and clearly my methods changed over
the years. From the fragments I do remember comes a great, clean story of one named Kazuki and
his introduction into Manga (specifically doujinshi) that takes us on a journey through an industry.
When most people think of Manga in America, they might compare it to Marvel Comics, which is
somewhat misleading. Manga is not reserved for super heroes nor to trite concepts that may be
disgusting in America (see The Mask) but yet never quite puts us inside. This is not to say Comic
Party attempts this, rather it expresses the deeply woven nature of the Manga universe that should
give any foreigner a pause before stereotyping the industry negatively.
This is perhaps the biggest appeal and weakness to Comic Party, in that as an educational comedy
it seeks to balance self deprecating jokes with giving its audience a better comprehension of the
work involved, all while not coming off as boring or uninspired.
Whether it succeeds is largely up to you, however

Ella Fitzgerald
Ella Fitzgerald The Gold Collection
The overall illusion of Ella Fitzgerald s The Gold Collection album is a reflection of the trials and
tribulations of love. The collection consists of many tracks that have passionate lyrical value, that
the words instantly relate to those moments in life when you are struggling with devotion for a
significant other. The album is arranged in a precise manner, where those melancholy and
heartrending songs are preceded by upbeat, catchy tunes, that even with the gloomy lyrics, make
you want to return to your childhood, where everything was simple and uncomplicated.
Certain songs, like Angel Heart and Sophisticated Love are prime examples of the slow, and
remorseful songs where Ella s strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other songs on the album are the perfect contrast to compliment the unhappy songs of love and
tenderness. A tisket A tasket is such a silly song, that although the lyrics are simple and
repetitive, it makes you feel like you are a little five year old child, with no cares in the world.
This song immediately puts a smile on your face, and makes you want to tap and bob your head to
the beat. The last track, Just a Simple Melody is also one of those cheerful songs, that has minimal
lyrical value, but the moderate quick pace, and the extensive play on the syllables of words and
consonants makes you laugh. The rhyming of the verses is an effective quality, that puts the words
right into your mouth, and sooner than you can believe, you re singing along to the lively music.
One difference from the beginning of the album to the end, is that the first half concentrates more
on Ella s voice, while the second half is a larger concentration of arrangements with instrumental
bands. In the beginning, you get to listen more to tunes where there is more emphasis on the
lyrics, and the instrumentalists are only background accompaniment to Ella. However, in the
second portion there is more of a sharing of the role, where the band has solos and Ella mimics the
tune of the band with her singing. The difference provides good variety to the album, where you
get a taste of both worlds with emotional description

respectability and worthiness to one s self and those around them, as for certainty this is knowing

Elvis Presley Influence
Rock and roll music was really started by this one quote: I don t sound like nobody (Marsh).
This quote was said by Elvis when he first met Sun founder Sam Phillips, during a recording
session that Elvis was making for his mother s birthday. Phillips liked Elvis voice and singing
style so much that he thought Elvis was a black man! The public would also have this theory
about him until they actually saw him. Of course, when Elvis Presley walked into Sun Studios in
Memphis, Tennessee, even he could not predict that he was about to change the course of music
history forever. Elvis Presley is the true definition of a rock star. He has basically had music all

Presley was also a terrific dancer, and broke the rules in traditional showmanship, which often
put him in the middle of controversy. Presley has already appeared six times on national
television, but it is his appearance on The Milton Berle Show on June 5, 1956, that triggers the
first controversy of his career. Presley sings his latest single, Hound Dog, with all the pelvis
shaking intensity his fans scream for (Marsh). Elvis chose to dance in this manner to express
himself, and did not see any issues surrounding it. He did what he felt like doing, and would
inspire artists such as James Brown and Jim Morrison of The Doors to have a breathtaking stage
presence. For this reason, several religious groups were outraged at Elvis chosen form of
expression, and started protesting the young singer. Television critics across the country slam the
performance for its appalling lack of musicality, for its vulgarity and animalism. The Catholic
Church takes up the criticism in its weekly organ in a piece headlined Beware Elvis Presley.
Concerns about juvenile delinquency and the changing moral values of the young find a new
target in the popular singer (Marsh). The churches were particularly angered at Presley s dancing,
and rallied against him, much to the chagrin of the teenage fans. In like manner, newspapers
would express public outcries of why Elvis music should be banned from their towns, leading to a
short decline in Elvis record sales. With these two characteristics of performing, Elvis would go on
to inspire countless musicians, all over the

Thou Blind Man s Mark Analysis
In the poem Thou Blind Man s Mark by Sir Philip Sidney, the speaker is struggling with his
desire for someone or something. They are fighting this feeling for control over his thoughts and
mind. It is shown that both the speaker and desire are constantly fighting, with neither fully able
to take control. This fact is evident through Sidney s use of violent diction, personification of
desire, and oxymorons. First, the diction of the poem is very violent. The words used are harsh
and show that the speaker is engaged in a war against his desire. For example, on line 14 it
states, Desiring naught but to kill desire (Sidney 14). The word kill is very intense and shows
that the speaker feels that the only way to destroy their desire is to murder it. Thus, ending the
fight they are stuck engaging in. This idea was earlier introduced in line 6, which says, With
price of mangled mind, thy worthless ware (6)[.] The words mangled and worthless are further
proof of this battle. Desire is leaving their mind in a mess, as is shown in the word mangled which
gives off the image of something being tangled and unable to be separated. Likewise, because his
mind is a mess, his thoughts are seemingly useless as shown through the use of worthless. The
wares, or valuable objects, in this case are the speaker s thoughts and ideas. Their constant battle
with desire has left their thoughts to be filled with nothing but thoughts of desire and those trying
to subdue it, thus leaving his mind

Group Dynamics
GROUP DYNAMICS
The social process by which people interact and behave in a group environment is called group
dynamics. Group dynamics involves the influence of personality, power, and behaviour on the
group process. Group dynamics is the study of groups, and also a general term for group processes.
Relevant to the fields of psychology, sociology, and communication studies, a group is two or
more individuals who are connected to each other by social relationships. Because they interact and
influence each other, groups develop a number of dynamic processes that separate them from a
random collection of individuals.
These processes include norms, roles, relations, development, need to belong, social influence, and

2. Storming: In this stage, the group is likely to see the highest level of disagreement and conflict.
Members often challenge group goals and struggle for power. Individuals often vie for the
leadership position during this stage of development. This can be a positive experience for all
groups if members can achieve cohesiveness through resolution. Members often voice concern
and criticism in this phase. If members are not able to resolve the conflict, then the group will
often disband or continue in existence but will remain ineffective and never advance to the other
stages. 3. Norming: This stage is characterized by the recognition of individual differences and
shared expectations. Hopefully, at this stage the group members will begin to develop a feeling of
group cohesion and identity. Cooperative effort should begin to yield results. Responsibilities are
divided among members and the group decides how it will evaluate progress. 4. Performing:

What Are Some Examples Of Foreshadowing In Watership Down
Watership Down, written by Richard Adams in 1970, is a story centered around rabbits. The
two main characters are Hazel and Fiver. When Fiver senses that there is danger in the warren,
Hazel and Fiver go to the leader of the warren, Threarah and tell him that all of the rabbits must
leave the warren because of danger. Threarah says it is too risky to move all over the rabbits and
insist that there is no danger. Regardless, Hazel and Fiver decide to leave the warren and look
for a new home. Along the way they come across many obstacles, but in the end, they are able to
create a safe new warren. Richard Adams uses a tremendous amount of personification,

All of the animals are personified because rabbits don t actually talk, but the writer Richard
Adams made them seem almost human. Without personification the story would simple be
about rabbits hoping around. Adams also uses foreshadowing in the book. One example of this
is when Fiver says, Oh, Hazel! This is where it comes from! I know now something very bad!
Some terrible thing coming closer and closer (Adams 7). This is foreshadowing because it gives
an idea of what is going to happen in the future of the story and later in the book something
terrible did happen. Foreshadowing makes the story interesting and can keep the reader
interested. There are also many different similes used throughout the story. The light, full and
smooth, lay like a gold rind over the turf (Adams 123) I can feel the danger like a wire round my
neck like a wire Hazel, help? (Adams 13). These are examples of similes because they use the
words like or as to compare two different things. Simile help the reader to be able to see what is
happening in the story in their mind and to be able to imagine it. For example, Her hair was red is
dull and is not very descriptive, but Her hair was as red as fire gives the reader an idea of how red
it the hair was and allows the reader to imagine it. Without similes Watership Down would be dull

How Did The Middle Class Affect 16th Century England
Even though English society was hierarchical, it was easy to move up or down from one
generation to the next. Most people got their status from birth and land ownership. England
changed a lot during the 16th century. There were several internal changes in England which
affected England s class system. The respect for the middle classgrew and the Gentry class grew.
These changes affected several lives during the 16th century. These classes include peasants, serfs,
farmers, craftsmen, knights, nobles, merchants, gentries, courtiers, nobles, and royalty.

England s large towns were at the same level with yeomen or gentlemen. The wealthiest and most
important merchants were London s international businessmen, who imported high value items
from Europe and other places. Below yeomen were husbandmen, farmers for themselves and
making enough to feed their family while selling some at the market. Husbandmen would be
forced to work for others during bad harvest years. They would have an income of around 3 euros
after paying all their expenses during good years. Below husbandmen were laborers and cottagers
because they had to work for others to get wages. Consequently, merchants, farmers, and craftsmen

Different Definitions For Cultural Competency
There are various definitions for cultural competency depending on the various, but each definition
relates to one thing, understanding an environment other than your own. In the Psychology
dictionary, cultural competency is defined as, Taking ownership of the abilities and insight which
are recommended for and particular to a chosen culture. To be culturally competent, one must
possess the capacity to work effectively with people from a variety of ethnic, cultural, political,
economic, and religious backgrounds. It is being aware and respectful of others values, beliefs, and
traditions. As social workers whom work closely with children, we must be mindful to the customs

These standards provide guidance to social workers in all areas of social work practice in
responding effectively to culture and cultural diversity in policy and practice settings. (NASW)
The standards provided by the National Association of S.W. are to enhance knowledge, skills, and
values in practice and policy development relative to culturally diverse populations. In other words,
they are set into place for everyone to be treated fairly.
There is often as wide a range of differences within groups. Examples of the different types of
cultural groups are gender, culture, disability, parental status etc. Within each group, we must take
into account the differences in each group. Cultural considerations are crucial to the effectiveness
of any counseling approach. ( J.J Murphy) For example, a white social worker may not see
oppression in Black Americans, because they are going through conflict and pain themselves, and
they have not considered the pain blacks endured and their white oppression. (G. Applebey)
Another example of cultural consideration is Hispanics and Latinos. In an article by Karen
Peterson Iyer, it states that The United States defines someone Hispanic or Latino as a person of
Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin
regardless of race. (K. Peterson) In the Unites States, Hispanics are not considered as a race. The

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark...
Retelling The novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, is narrated by a 15
year old boy with a form of autism named Christopher Boone. It is about his search for order and
stability in his life and how he copes with situations that lack this. At the beginning of the story,
Christopher discovers that his neighbour s dog, named Wellington, has been murdered. He
decides to get to the bottom of this and solve the mystery of Wellington s murderer while writing
a murder mystery novel about it. As he begins to investigate the neighbourhood, Christopher s
dad discovers the book and confiscates it. While looking for his book, Christopher stumbles
upon a box in his fathers closet containing his book as well as 43 letters. They are all from his
mother and addressed to him. The letters are dated after her supposed death and reveal that she is
living with Mr. Shears, the man she had an affair with, in London. Christopher is shocked and his
father confesses that he lied about his mothers death and goes a step further by revealing that he
was the culprit behind Wellington s murder. Christopher leaves his father that night and embarks on
his journey to London to live with his mother. He overcomes many obstacles, but is eventually

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Unact Unmanned Ground...
A compact unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) should be capable to travel through rough terrain
while traversing within confined spaces. In many applications, it is practically expedient that the
vehicles used must be economical, so that multiple rovers may be deployed to accomplish a given
mission. The cost of the UGV can be reduced by minimizing its size and mechanical intricacy. As
in a traditional treaded/tracked vehicle, here the model has a pair of treadassemblies or tracks,
driven by an internal sprocket, mounted on either side of a central chassis [1], [2]. A single chassis
holds the actuators, sensors, electronics, and battery. It includes the concept of inverted pendulum

The standard treaded platform consists of two fixed tread mechanisms mounted on opposite
sides of a central chassis. This type of UGV performs well over a variety of both smooth and
complex terrains (including dirt, gravel, sand, snow, etc.), but the limitation persist as before.
This limitation may be extended by adding additional sprocket chain mechanism to increase the
height of system (such as the trapezoidal shape), or by adding secondary articulated treaded
segments or flippers . Additional treaded segments may be added to increase a treaded vehicle s
adroitness, but the cost gets increased. Here a compact treaded UGV, which is capable of
overcoming obstacles roundly as high as its treads are long via a unique mechanical architecture
and adept implementation of feedback control algorithms is shown. The overall height or the rover
can be adjusted and made as per the requirement. Here LQR controller along with LQT is used.

The Organisational Process Of Buying A Train Ticket
This essay uses technological determinism to analyse the organisational process of buying a train
ticket. In particular, I will be looking at concepts such as the rate of diffusion, the technological
agency and also the views of hard and soft technological determinism. Smith and Marx (1998:14)
describe technological determinism as the human tendency to create the kind of society that invests
technologies with enough power to drive history . This definition of technological determinism can
be related to the process of buying a train ticket as this essay shows how organizations used
technologyto make this process more efficient and as a result, changed the way that society buys
train ticket, which became the norm now. L J (2004:617) believe that technological determinism
represent the belief that the progress of society is driven by technological innovationand this has an
inevitable path. Society will evolve and adapt to these new technological changes. The way that
society has changed their ways of buying train ticketsand how they view buying it online is the
way forward, can be best shown by the quote from L J. Buying a train ticket has changed a lot in
the last 15 years especially with the introduction of the World Wide Web which changed the way
society works and this essay focuses specifically on the collection of train tickets after you have
bought them and how technology has enabled us to do that.

Wandilla Terrane Formation
INTRODUCTION
The New England Fold Belt (NEFB) of eastern Australia is composed of variably deformed
terranes, going in age from Early Palaeozoic to Late Triassic. These different terranes are for the
most part understood to reflect an alternate tectonic component, or different orogenic events.
However, is mostly believed to have developed within an extensively convergent plate margin
setting (Day et al., 1978, 1983; Henderson, 1980; Fergusson et al. 1988).
Exposures that reveal the complete subduction complex rocks can be seen in the Wandilla and

Mourning and Melancholia After a tragic loss someone will go through a grieving process that
will either be constructive or destructive. Mourning is a period of time when the person
experiencing this loss begins to search for reconciliation and a way to deal with the sadness. They
will attempt to move on, forgive and forget, the past. Freud wrote that mourning is a normal
reaction to the loss of a love object, which is consciously known and identifiable. People mourning
will express their sadness but will be able to eventually part from their love lost. Inversely, Freud
says that melancholia develops when the sadness is inappropriate to the situation and becomes
internalized. The person suffering from melancholia identifies the lost... Show more content on

themselves. The normal stage of bereavement defined as anger turns inward and becomes a
conflict between love and hate that attacks the ego, according to Freud s theory. These patients
might feel deeply dejected and lose all interest in external activities. This is exactly what is seen
in the character of Mai when she has her mental breakdown and expresses her feelings to her son.
Mai and Socheata deal with sadness and loss very differently. Socheata mourns and eventually

talks would of happened during a time when as tons of the citizens of not only Britain but
countries across Europe were questioning morality and faith in the wake of the horrors they
were experiencing through the war. This book was published long after the war and contains
what Lewis said in his talks as well as his commentary on what else he wish he could of added to

According to Lewis his viewpoint of reasons place in religion is in determining whether or not to
accept the religion in question. He doesn t agree with the leap of faith concept to sell someone
and convince them to follow a religion. Instead he argues that faith only comes into play after
one has already accepted and become a part of the religion. Faith helps someone carry out the
religion s practices whereas reason leads one to believing in the religion in the first place. His
views on reason seem to be similar to that of W.K. Clifford since Lewis writes that he is not asking
anyone to accept Christianity if his best reasoning... is against it (pg 140). This shows that Lewis
highly values reason and doesn t want people to just believe something without having proved it
to themselves first. W.K. Clifford is a bit more extreme in his belief that it is not okay to just
believe without proof or reason as Clifford sees doing this as not just incorrect but ethically wrong.
This relates to our class discussion on the connections between faith and reason and what roles
each play in people s

Persuasive Essay On The Bogeyman
Compare and Contrast on the Boogeyman
Intro The Boogeyman is a horror character that appears in short stories he scares children at a
certain age usually 2 6 years old. This horror character usually only comes for you when you re
alone typically at night when you are sleeping in your room, he hides in the closet. What he does is
he is the horror character that makes young kids do as they are told like for example when your
mom says eat your vegetables and you said no as a kid she would say ВЁok if you donВґt eat your
vegetables the Boogeyman will come for you at night.ВЁSo the Boogeyman is there to ensure we
follow the rules and bring good behavior towards children.
Paragraph 1 In the Scientific American story it tells us that the Boogeyman is a teaching tool for
young children and that he is a factor there to punish or steal children when they are not following
the specific rules they have to be following. He is a shapeless factor so that means he could be
anywhere at anytime so typically parents use the closet or say donВґt check under the bed .The
Boogeyman hides in the closet and the reason why parents say that the Boogeyman comes out
the closet is because typically at the age of 2 6 kids have a fear towards the dark and that is
when the closet also becomes a factor that parents use to make sure that their son or daughter
follow the rules they have to follow or do what they are told to do.Now in King s short story he used

Analysis Of The Movie Chinatown
Chinatown is a drama/thriller starring Jack Nicholson who played the character of Jake Gittes. The
plot of the story develops around Gittes job as a private investigator, and Gittes researches the
background information of the water system for Los Angeles. Through Gittes investigation, the
sudden death of Mr. Mulwray becomes the main plotline of the story. Ms. Mulwray, the wife hires
Jake Gittes to investigate her husband for infidelity, but through his inspecting, he starts to uncover
the truths within the Los Angeles water system. The characters of the film have a strange
connection with each other, which makes the story rich in depth. This is powerful for the viewer
because the potential of the plotcan be expanded with extraordinary plot twists and character
development. Personally, I thought the Roman Polanski constructed a phenomenal movie, because
of the drama aspect. The conflict was clear thirty minutes into the film, and the direction of the film
perfectly kept the audience glued to the plot of the movie. Chinatown provides effective elements
of drama through intensive detail, and a strong plot; which makes the movie highly entertaining.
Rules of the Game are an important concept to creating a drama, and I enjoyed many of the subtle
details of Chinatown. Polanski directs the film with a noir setting to make his audience carefully
indulge in every aspect of the film. The setting of 1930 s Los Angeles truly intrigued me as viewer,
because the setting felt nostalgic

Abstract The present study was conducted to examine the ability of six promising indigenous
isolates of marine actinomycetes (NA 1, 2, 3, 4 and TA 1, 2) as probiotics in nature. The
actinomycetes isolated from these eco systemsare capable of producing antibiotics that strongly
inhibit the growth of gram positive and gramnegative bacteria. A total of 6 isolates representing the
range ofmorphological diversity observed from each sample were obtained in pure culture.
However ofthe 6, two were found to produce antibiotic substances. NA1 and TA1 exhibited

of reform in the air, to make the conventions fit for purpose and adapt them to the reality on the

to adapt the conventions already available, all we need is: first, a renewed commitment to the
principles of multilateralism and shared responsibility; second, a commitment to base our reform on
empirical evidence and not ideology; and thirdly, to put in place concrete actions that support the
above, going beyond mere rhetoric and pronouncement . (UNODC, 2008)

Cardiac Arrest And The Effects Of Epinephrine Essay
Cardiac Arrest and The Effects of Epinephrine in Pre hospital Setting
Sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.
When this occurs the blood flow stops to the brain and vital organs. Sudden cardiac arrest is not the
same as a heart attack or myocardial infarction. A heartattack is when the blood flow to part of the
heart is blocked.
Without early intervention on average 360,000 people out of the hospital succumb to cardiac arrest.
Cardiac arrest and sudden death account for 60 percent of all deaths from coronary artery disease
,(Bledsoe, Porter, Cherry, 2011,2007,2004, p. 1229)There are several causes of sudden cardiac
arrest. Most are caused by ventricular fibrillation. During ventricular fibrillation, the ventricles do
not beat normally. Instead they quiver rapidly and irregularly. When this occurs, the heart pumps
very little and blood does not get circulated throughout the body. Most of the cases found with
sudden cardiac death are related to undetected cardiovascular disease.( Sudden Cardiac Death,
2015, para. 2)Sudden cardiac arrest are immediate and drastic that includes sudden collapse, no
pulse, not breathing, and loss of consciousness. Four rhythms produce pulseless cardiac arrest:
ventricular fibrillation, rapid ventricular tachycardia, pulseless electrical activity and asystole. (

Why The Concern Over Mobile Technology
Statement of the Problem
Why the concern over mobile technology in our schools for K 12 education? Mobile technology
has expanded tremendously over the past few years. The use of having mobile devices in the
classroom allows students instant access to the latest news, information, statistics, etc. Mobile
technology opens a multitude of learning that was only accessible through encyclopedias before,
but has expanded and has endless possibilities. Many schools have a school wide wireless
implementation of mobile devices and others have limited access to wireless devices. The
opportunity of instructional designers is endless in developing more integration of technology in
lesson plans to make the connections between the old ways and with the integration of technology
into the classrooms. The following literature reviews will explore the growing trend of mobile
technology in the K 12 education.
Review of the Literature
How are teachers and students using mobile technology and are they using their own devices or
is the schools providing mobile devices for teachers and students to use. Grant, Tamim, Brown,
Sweeney, Ferguson, and Jones, (2015) reviewed the early uses of mobile computing devices
(MCD) in K 12 classrooms. The research questions for their study were looking at the ways K 12
teachers were using MCDs, the supports that teachers received when using MCDs, and the barriers
that existed for teachers when using MCDs. Nine teachers were interviewed about the use of

Essay on Portrait of the Artist as A Young Man and The Wall
The Artist in Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as A Young Man and Pink Floyd s The Wall
Foragers, the people who live in hunter gatherer societies, have no artists. It is only when society
becomes complex enough to support a division of labor do artists emerge first as shamans, then as
the painters, singers, writers, etc., that we usually think of today. Society, then, creates the artist, but
it can also destroy him. In A Portrait of the Artist as A Young Man, James Joyce describes the
particular development of Stephan Dedalus that led to his becoming an artist. Pink s development in
Pink Floyd s The Wall, mirrors that of Stephen yet concludes in the destruction of the artist.

Pink Floyd makes this separation into the metaphor of the brick wall that plays a role though out
the rock opera. Pink Floyd focuses entirely on its destructive side while James Joyce only touches
on its negative aspects as he portrays the artist s development and concludes with the constructive
side of the separation.
The separation begins in both artists while they are very young and becomes most evident in their
interactions with their peers and members of the opposite sex. A contributing factor to the
development of their separation is the manner in which they were educated. School, a place that is
supposed to nurture the minds of children, has devastating effects on the young artists. The
teachers, who are supposed to guide their students in unlocking their potential, are harsh and
authoritative. Stephen is punished unfairly for having broken his glasses, and Pink s poetry is
mocked before the class. Pink expresses his opinion of the education he received in the album s
most well know song:
We don t need no education
We don t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave the kids alone...
All in all you re just another brick in the wall.

Fender Brafield History
In 1954, Leo Fender made many prototypes for guitar he was trying to build. Each prototype had a
various specs added or taken from the guitar. In October of the same year, the Fender Stratocaster
went into full production and still is in production to this day. The Fender Stratocaster has become
an iconic guitarused by famous people like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Buddy Holly, and Ritchie
Valens ( Artist ). The Stratocaster is used in many genres of music such as blues, jazz, rock, and
country. Other guitar companies noticed the fame that Fender was making and became producing
cheaper Stratocaster. Fender wanted to do the same while still having the prestigious name. Fender
bought a company named Squier and began producing the Stratocaster... Show more content on

Fender and Squier both use tremolo style bridges. The difference is that Squier produces guitars
in China. They use a type of metal referred as pop metal. The Chinese collect recycled soda cans
and melt it along with a bit of zinc and steel to make it stronger. They cast a mold of the bridge
and mass produce the bridge. With Fender, the tremolo bridge is made out of steel and heavy
machinery forms the bridge. The tuning machines on the head of the guitar are also same but
very different. With Fender, the rotation ratio is 1:18, which is highly accurate and tunes as it
turns. For Squier, the ratio changes to 1:10, which makes it harder to tune because of the more
rotations. Most importantly, the pickups of the guitars are very different. Guitar pickups are a
device that picks up vibrations from steel or nickel strings using magnets and wounded copper
wire. This creates a magnetic field and when the strings move they disturbs the field and
changes the current passing through the coils of copper wire. This current is then flows out the
output and amplified with an amplifier (2015). With Fender s pickups, they use Alnico slug
magnets and pure copper with their coils. These pickups have a nice, clear, and pure tone and
sound to them. Squier does not do the same. They use pop metal slugs and copper with zinc and
other conductive metals and glue a magnet at the bottom of the pickup and it works the same.
This will also give you a clear tone but it is not so pure sound. They essentially do the same job
but it is cheaper. Also time is a main factor to this. It takes less time to make an Squier Stratocaster
than it is to make a Fender Stratocaster. This means it is easier to get an Squier and cost

  • 2. Things Fall Apart Tragic Hero Essay Chinua Achebe s novel, Things Fall Apart , is a classic postcolonial novel about a man named Okonkwo who was a well known man in his village in Nigeria. He is a man that has a very thin temper and is portrayed as a tragic hero, Okonkwo fits Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero pretty well. Okonkwo s demise was ultimately caused by his fatal flaw. A cultural identity crisis had little to no minimal impact on his demise; rather, his fatal flaw of a bad temper and fear of being thought of as weak had the biggest impact on his demise. Aristotle s conception of a tragic hero includes that he is a character of a noble or high status, Okonkwo fits this because, Okonkwo was well known throughout the nine villages and even beyond. . He also has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Okonkwo doesn t fully fit this, while he does have both positive and negative qualities, his negative qualities outweigh his positive. Some of his positive qualities are he s physically strong, he s successful and he s an honorable man. Some of his negative qualities are he has a really quick temper, he is full of pride, he s a weak minded person and he does things solely based upon how he feels and doesn t think things through. In the novel Okonkwo can t control his temper or anger very well. He is an abusive and weak man who does terrible things just to ensure that he isn t seen as weak, which coincidentally makes him a weak person. The character has a fatal flaw. Okonkwo fits this since the things that led him to his downfall are his fatal flaws of a bad temper and fear of weakness. He killed Ikemefuna because he was afraid that the men would think he was weak, Dazed with fear, Okonkwo drew his machete and cut him down. He was afraid of being thought weak. He beats his wives and shot and one because his temper gotten out of control. A tragic hero is classified as one with a large capacity of suffering, Okonkwo fits this for the most part ... • 3. Heart Of Darkness Kurtz Essay Joseph Conrad in his book, Heart of Darkness, retells what he experienced in the Congo from the point of view of his main character, Marlow. Conrad uses many characters to express Freudian Psychoanalysis, and through each of these characters, Conrad depicts something about European culture. One of the most prevalent characters that represents this is Kurtz. Kurtz is the most imperialistic character in the entire book. Conrad, by using Id, Ego, and Superego, shows how complete lack of society can cause people to devolve as shown by the character of Kurtz and the difficulties of Conrad s life are also shown through characters and by Marlow who is a representation of Conrad. Sigmund Freud theorized that the unconscious mind has a great influence on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the pamphlet Marlow discovers a post scriptum that has Exterminate all the brutes scratched onto the bottom of it (Conrad 45). This foreshadows a change in Kurtz since he was the person who wrote the pamphlet. Since this does happen to Kurtz, it shows in a similar fashion to William Golding that humans will innately devolve back to savages. In fact, Conrad takes this a step farther by showing that Kurtz had completely lost all of his morals. There was nothing either above or below him this shows that Kurtz had completely gotten rid of all of his morals (Conrad 60). Unlike Golding who still had characters that had morals or wanted to keep an image of themselves up. Following Marlow s arrival at Kurtz s camp and taking him to the boat, Kurtz crawls away from the ship to try and return to the natives. This has importance for Kurtz in both a physical and societal way the former being the fact that it shows Kurtz is basically an animal since he is crawling. The more important way is the societal way because it shows the juxtaposition between Kurtz s views on the pamphlet and what is currently happening. In the pamphlet, Kurtz says that we approach them with the might as of a deity which shows that before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Death And The Maiden Rationality Rationality vs. Will Power: A Fight for Closure Psychological damage strikes the core of an individual and can lead to irrational actions and poor judgement. Through an examination of Paulina Salas actions throughout Death and the Maiden, Ariel Dorfman successfully characterizes her as a survivor through her fight for closure. Although her ways may not seem rational, her fight symbolizes the desperation felt by victims of the torture in Chile. This demonstrates that strength cannot always be measured in rationality, but more so in the will power of an individual. This is seen in the way Paulina acts towards Dr. Roberto Miranda, her reaction to Gerardo joining the Rettig Commission, and her search for personal justice for the duration of the... Paulina believes there will be no justice for her, and when she finds out about Gerardo s new task, her pursuit for what is right begins to develop, and Dorfman is able to characterize her as damaged and wanting justice prior to the introduction of Dr. Miranda. Gerardo was appointed as the lawyer to the Rettig Report created by the first democratic president Patricio Aylwin to investigate humans rights violations following Augusto Pinochet s communist rule of Chile. The commission only pursued violations ending in death or presumption of death and the idea is that if [the commission] throw light on the worst crimes, other abuses will also come to light (9). Paulina starts to get edgy and starts getting defensive towards Gerardo after she discovers the commission only investigates cases of death, and this means Paulina would not receive a trial. This makes Paulina furious, as she was under the impression that her and Gerardo would be able to put Paulina s torturer and the others all on trial. Another key phrase that demonstrates Paulina s continuous fight for the justice she deserves is when Gerardo refers to the cases he will investigate as the ones that are beyond let s say, repair. and Paulina responds with Beyond repair. • 5. Outsourcing Research Paper Throughout my paper, my point is to portray the effect of the outsourcing of American occupations abroad. There are two strong arguments with outsourcing: one that accepts the handiness and profits of the outsourcing and the other that energetically restricts outsourcing and focus on its negatives. Government organizations accept that outsourcingmay decrease the expense of the assembling of items and give administrations less expensive cost, and others feel that outsourcing has triggered huge layoffs and loss of jobs. America needs to cease outsourcing due to the negative effects it has on our country. Outsourcing takes occupations away from Americans, causes considerably more economic issues, and can lessen the quality of materials.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The driving components for outsourcing are clear: lesser expenses all the way around. A machine software engineer in India makes $5,880 to $11,000, while an American machine software engineer wins in the middle of $60,000 and $80,000. American organizations stand to spare measures of cash by outsourcing. Today, gauges of employment misfortune in the United Statespropose that in the last ten years, between 400,000 to 500,000 data engineering preparing jobs have been outsourced. While this speaks to a moderately little parcel of the United States work power of around 130 million laborers (Tyson), concerns over the loss of profoundly talented employees and expectations that the outsourcing pattern will keep on growing have made outsourcing an imperative and questionable subject. Unfortunately, the wave of outsourcing is going to continue in the United States, and it is only going to get worse. A UC Berkeley s Haas School of Business study noted that near 11 percent of all occupations in the United States are helpless to outsourcing. • 8. Water Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment Water covers almost 75% of the earth s surface and is undoubtedly our most precious natural resource that exists on our planet today. There won t be any living organism on our planet without water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden] Pollutions such as sewage and fertilizers contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. At high levels, nutrients can over stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygenas they decompose, and block light to deeper waters.[David Krantz] This could be very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the respiration ability of fish and other creatures of the sea. Pollution is also caused when silt and other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites, urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains.[David Krantz] Pollution in the form of organic material enters waterways in many different forms as sewage, as leaves and grass clippings, or as runoff from livestock feedlots and pastures. When natural bacteria and protozoan in the water break down this organic material, they begin to use up the oxygen dissolved in the water. Many types of fish and bottom dwelling animals cannot survive when levels of dissolved oxygen drop below two to five parts per million. When this occurs, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Kazuki s obsession with finishing his comic in time for the next convention threatens his schoolwork and his relationships, he must decide how he will use his time or risk losing Mizuki. STORY 4.1 Tragically, it has been a long time since I watched the show, and clearly my methods changed over the years. From the fragments I do remember comes a great, clean story of one named Kazuki and his introduction into Manga (specifically doujinshi) that takes us on a journey through an industry. When most people think of Manga in America, they might compare it to Marvel Comics, which is somewhat misleading. Manga is not reserved for super heroes nor to trite concepts that may be disgusting in America (see The Mask) but yet never quite puts us inside. This is not to say Comic Party attempts this, rather it expresses the deeply woven nature of the Manga universe that should give any foreigner a pause before stereotyping the industry negatively. This is perhaps the biggest appeal and weakness to Comic Party, in that as an educational comedy it seeks to balance self deprecating jokes with giving its audience a better comprehension of the work involved, all while not coming off as boring or uninspired. This song immediately puts a smile on your face, and makes you want to tap and bob your head to the beat. The last track, Just a Simple Melody is also one of those cheerful songs, that has minimal lyrical value, but the moderate quick pace, and the extensive play on the syllables of words and consonants makes you laugh. The rhyming of the verses is an effective quality, that puts the words right into your mouth, and sooner than you can believe, you re singing along to the lively music. One difference from the beginning of the album to the end, is that the first half concentrates more on Ella s voice, while the second half is a larger concentration of arrangements with instrumental bands. In the beginning, you get to listen more to tunes where there is more emphasis on the lyrics, and the instrumentalists are only background accompaniment to Ella. • 15. Thou Blind Man s Mark Analysis In the poem Thou Blind Man s Mark by Sir Philip Sidney, the speaker is struggling with his desire for someone or something. They are fighting this feeling for control over his thoughts and mind. It is shown that both the speaker and desire are constantly fighting, with neither fully able to take control. This fact is evident through Sidney s use of violent diction, personification of desire, and oxymorons. First, the diction of the poem is very violent. The words used are harsh and show that the speaker is engaged in a war against his desire. For example, on line 14 it states, Desiring naught but to kill desire (Sidney 14). The word kill is very intense and shows that the speaker feels that the only way to destroy their desire is to murder it. Thus, ending the fight they are stuck engaging in. This idea was earlier introduced in line 6, which says, With price of mangled mind, thy worthless ware (6)[.] The words mangled and worthless are further proof of this battle. Desire is leaving their mind in a mess, as is shown in the word mangled which gives off the image of something being tangled and unable to be separated. Likewise, because his mind is a mess, his thoughts are seemingly useless as shown through the use of worthless. The wares, or valuable objects, in this case are the speaker s thoughts and ideas. Their constant battle with desire has left their thoughts to be filled with nothing but thoughts of desire and those trying to subdue it, thus leaving his mind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In many applications, it is practically expedient that the vehicles used must be economical, so that multiple rovers may be deployed to accomplish a given mission. The cost of the UGV can be reduced by minimizing its size and mechanical intricacy. As in a traditional treaded/tracked vehicle, here the model has a pair of treadassemblies or tracks, driven by an internal sprocket, mounted on either side of a central chassis [1], [2]. A single chassis holds the actuators, sensors, electronics, and battery. It includes the concept of inverted pendulum for various upright configurations, capable of surmounting obstacles, including stairs. The maximum... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The standard treaded platform consists of two fixed tread mechanisms mounted on opposite sides of a central chassis. This type of UGV performs well over a variety of both smooth and complex terrains (including dirt, gravel, sand, snow, etc.), but the limitation persist as before. This limitation may be extended by adding additional sprocket chain mechanism to increase the height of system (such as the trapezoidal shape), or by adding secondary articulated treaded segments or flippers . Additional treaded segments may be added to increase a treaded vehicle s adroitness, but the cost gets increased. Here a compact treaded UGV, which is capable of overcoming obstacles roundly as high as its treads are long via a unique mechanical architecture and adept implementation of feedback control algorithms is shown. • 25. The Organisational Process Of Buying A Train Ticket This essay uses technological determinism to analyse the organisational process of buying a train ticket. In particular, I will be looking at concepts such as the rate of diffusion, the technological agency and also the views of hard and soft technological determinism. Smith and Marx (1998:14) describe technological determinism as the human tendency to create the kind of society that invests technologies with enough power to drive history . This definition of technological determinism can be related to the process of buying a train ticket as this essay shows how organizations used technologyto make this process more efficient and as a result, changed the way that society buys train ticket, which became the norm now. L J (2004:617) believe that technological determinism represent the belief that the progress of society is driven by technological innovationand this has an inevitable path. Society will evolve and adapt to these new technological changes. The way that society has changed their ways of buying train ticketsand how they view buying it online is the way forward, can be best shown by the quote from L J. Buying a train ticket has changed a lot in the last 15 years especially with the introduction of the World Wide Web which changed the way society works and this essay focuses specifically on the collection of train tickets after you have bought them and how technology has enabled us to do that. • 27. New Year Baby by Socheata Poeuv Mourning and Melancholia After a tragic loss someone will go through a grieving process that will either be constructive or destructive. Mourning is a period of time when the person experiencing this loss begins to search for reconciliation and a way to deal with the sadness. They will attempt to move on, forgive and forget, the past. Freud wrote that mourning is a normal reaction to the loss of a love object, which is consciously known and identifiable. People mourning will express their sadness but will be able to eventually part from their love lost. Inversely, Freud says that melancholia develops when the sadness is inappropriate to the situation and becomes internalized. The person suffering from melancholia identifies the lost... Melancholic patients might seek revenge against the lost loved one by tormenting themselves. The normal stage of bereavement defined as anger turns inward and becomes a conflict between love and hate that attacks the ego, according to Freud s theory. These patients might feel deeply dejected and lose all interest in external activities. This is exactly what is seen in the character of Mai when she has her mental breakdown and expresses her feelings to her son. Mai and Socheata deal with sadness and loss very differently. Socheata mourns and eventually overcomes her grief. She forgives her mother for having kept secrets and forgives the ex Khmer Rouge people for the objectives they carried out. Finally, her mourning process concludes as she takes part in her ceremonial birth at the Buddhist temple. Her experiences of loss end on a more positive note than those of Mai. Faith helps someone carry out the religion s practices whereas reason leads one to believing in the religion in the first place. His views on reason seem to be similar to that of W.K. Clifford since Lewis writes that he is not asking anyone to accept Christianity if his best reasoning... is against it (pg 140). This shows that Lewis highly values reason and doesn t want people to just believe something without having proved it to themselves first. W.K. Cardiac Arrest And The Effects Of Epinephrine Essay Cardiac Arrest and The Effects of Epinephrine in Pre hospital Setting Sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. When this occurs the blood flow stops to the brain and vital organs. Sudden cardiac arrest is not the same as a heart attack or myocardial infarction. A heartattack is when the blood flow to part of the heart is blocked. Without early intervention on average 360,000 people out of the hospital succumb to cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest and sudden death account for 60 percent of all deaths from coronary artery disease ,(Bledsoe, Porter, Cherry, 2011,2007,2004, p. 1229)There are several causes of sudden cardiac arrest. Most are caused by ventricular fibrillation. During ventricular fibrillation, the ventricles do not beat normally. Instead they quiver rapidly and irregularly. When this occurs, the heart pumps very little and blood does not get circulated throughout the body. Most of the cases found with sudden cardiac death are related to undetected cardiovascular disease.( Sudden Cardiac Death, 2015, para. 2)Sudden cardiac arrest are immediate and drastic that includes sudden collapse, no pulse, not breathing, and loss of consciousness. Fender and Squier both use tremolo style bridges. The difference is that Squier produces guitars in China. They use a type of metal referred as pop metal. The Chinese collect recycled soda cans and melt it along with a bit of zinc and steel to make it stronger. They cast a mold of the bridge and mass produce the bridge. With Fender, the tremolo bridge is made out of steel and heavy machinery forms the bridge. The tuning machines on the head of the guitar are also same but very different. With Fender, the rotation ratio is 1:18, which is highly accurate and tunes as it turns. For Squier, the ratio changes to 1:10, which makes it harder to tune because of the more rotations. Most importantly, the pickups of the guitars are very different. Guitar pickups are a device that picks up vibrations from steel or nickel strings using magnets and wounded copper wire. This creates a magnetic field and when the strings move they disturbs the field and changes the current passing through the coils of copper wire. This current is then flows out the output and amplified with an amplifier (2015). With Fender s pickups, they use Alnico slug magnets and pure copper with their coils. These pickups have a nice, clear, and pure tone and sound to them. Squier does not do the same. They use pop metal slugs and copper with zinc and other conductive metals and glue a magnet at the bottom of the pickup and it works the same. This will also give you a clear tone but it is not so pure sound. They essentially do the same job but it is cheaper. Also time is a main factor to this.
