Forensic DNA
Analysis
Catipay, Mary Lorraine
Introduction
• Forensic DNA Analysis is the use of
deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) specimens in legal
proceedings. Just as people can leave fingerprints
when they touch a surface, so too can they leave
biological material that contains DNA.
• Because of the accuracy and reliability of forensic
DNA analysis, this evidence has also become an
invaluable tool for releasing individuals who have
been wrongfully convicted.
