London and Walthamstow
Survey Summary
4. AUDIENCE RESEARCH
I’ve found out my target audience using
statistics of other famous London based films
from the same genre as the film I was planning
to make.
I have used the Kidulthood & Top Boy film case
studies because of the similarities it has with my
idea and issues it relates to such as drugs,
alcohol, gang and knife crimes.
Using the case study of this products I could find
the approximately target audience for my film
which for instance is London based teens with
the age between 15 and 25 because of the
language used and knives crimes which more
relate to them
Another way of researching my audience I’ve
used was questionnaire which shows that young
people are high interested in crime films

6. CONVENTIONS OF THE CRIME
GENRE
Drugs
Gang
Violence
Uncensored Language
Knife Crimes(mostly based in London Films)
Clothing( tracksuit for London based films)
These are all conventions of the genre I’ve
decide to work for my final film and I have
included most of them in my final film to make it
look as a real crime and gang film. All these
conventions can be found in the case studies
I’ve done.
7. PLANNING THE PRODUCT
After I’ve decided my story and genre I want to work
with and researching about it I’ve started completing
all the pre-production documents(call sheet, Shot list,
Risk Assessment, Script, Treatment and others which
can be find in my blog)
Recce, I went out to the location I was planning to film
and I took photos of the location and shots I wanted
to use. This was very useful for my shot list and pro-
production.
After all the pre-production documents were done
and everything was ready for filming I have started
searching for actors. I’ve have chosen a weekend day
to film as my actors were mainly students. I borrowed
the microphone from College. I had 2 days for filming,
first day we planned and decided what role every
actor is going to have and went again thru the story
and made some changes from the actors suggestions.
