Generic Biologics As A Tool For Evaluating The Safety And...
1.Background/Statement Of Problem: Generic biologics (otherwise referred to as biosimilars or
follow on biologics), are described by the FDA as biological products that are highly similar to
already approved biological products, notwithstanding minor differences in clinically interactive
components and for which there are no clinically meaningful differences between the biosimilar
and the approved biological products in terms of safety, purity and potency [4]. Biosimilars are
copies of approved biologics, whose patent protection has ended and are analogous to a generic
version of a chemically derived drug. Generic biologics are however more complicated to
develop than a generic version of a chemically derived drug owing to their complex structure and
inherent variability [3]. The assessment of bioequivalence as a tool for evaluating the safety and
efficacy is based on the fundamental Bioequivalence Assumption that if two drug products are
shown to be bioequivalent in average bioavailability, it is assumed they will reach the same
therapeutic effect and be used interchangeably [1]. However, characterizing generic versions of
small molecules drugs is considerably easier than characterizing biologic drugs due to several key
characteristics [3], based on the fact that characteristics of biologics are influenced by: choice of
source materials (cell line), production process, purification process and the final pharmaceutical
formulation. Differences in

A Comprehensive Analysis of the Rwandan Genocide to the...
Beginning on April 6, 1994, Hutus began a mass slaughtering of the Tutsis in the African country
of Rwanda. This mass slaughtering is labeled as genocide, the deliberate obliteration of an ethnic,
racial, religious, or political group. The Rwandan genocide lasted 100 days while other countries
stood idly by and watched the brutal killings continue. The hatred against the Tutsis began after the
RPF invasion in October of 1990. Accusations from editorials and radio broadcasts claimed Tutsis
wanted to establish a monarchy with Hutuslaves; other racial libel included all the Tutsis being
called cockroaches.
Many years prior to the Rwandan genocide, a similar deliberate extinction occurred. Between 1933
and 1945, members of the Nazi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George Stanton, the president of Genocide Watch, suggested genocide develops in eight stages that
are predictable but not inexorable (Mare, 2011). Stage one is classification where people are
alienated into us and them depending on ethnicity, nationality, race, and religion; in this case,
German and Jew, Hutu and Tutsi depict the mentality of the superior group. According to Mare, The
main preventive measure at this early stage is to develop universalistic institutions that transcend
ethnic or racial divisions, that actively promote tolerance and understanding, and that promote
classifications that transcend the divisions (2011).
Symbolization, the second stage, is used to classify these groups; names or symbols may be forced
upon reluctant members of the groups. For example, the Nazis used the yellow star to symbolize
the Jews; this symbol was worn on clothing or imprinted on Jewish establishments. A preventive
measure used to combat the symbolization is to outlaw hate symbols along with hate speech.
The next includes dehumanization, where one group establishes their superiority and rejects the
humanity of an additional group. Animals, insects, or diseases are normally equated with members
of the dehumanized group; case in point, the Hutus equated the Tutsis with cockroaches during the

Essay On Bellamy s
What consumer thinks about Bellamy s organic company?
The Australian company Bellamy s organic formula has huge demand as per various news articles
and reports published all over the news. Compared to its competitors, cost of Bellamy s formula
has been reasonable and also known to be the best in quality. These two factors have made Bellamy
s, the most competitive and the largest supplier of baby formula in Australia. There weren t any
allegations against the company regarding the quality of the product supplied, the price at which the
product retailed or even the company s relations with its customers.
Due to the ongoing scarcity for baby formula, there have been several issues the company had to
deal with. One of the major concerns is the retailers. Bellamy s Organic realized that its retailers
were making huge profits off the sales of its baby formula. In order to keep the price reachable to
common man, Bellamy s decided to take matters into its own hands. They launched an online retail
store from which consumers can order the formula directly and ... Show more content on

They were buying the formula in bulk and carrying it back to China where they could easily it for

the government and the company realized it, Bellamy s Organic baby formula was in huge demand
in the grey markets of other countries. As soon as the government and company noticed the
situation, several restrictions were imposed on the purchase and transport of the tins along with the
passengers. This move by the government received immense criticism from the consumers from
other countries while the consumers from Australia welcomed this move as it restricted the formula

The Americanization Of Edward Bok And The America I Believe
Since the dawn of American colonization in the early 1600s, the notion of immigrating to America
has long been instilled upon various people as a stimulating opportunity to begin a fresh chapter in
their lives. Even now, this possibility has brought many variations of people to America,
culminating a society that brims with dreams and aspirations to form the diversified nation of
today. When speaking of the current state of immigration, it is easy to conclude that immigration is
heavily discussed from political standpoints. Though this current condition is composed of highly
controversial perspectives, many of the early century viewpoints found in literature genuinely
embrace reality, for these writers were indeed immigrants themselves, thus adding an authoritative
standpoint over immigration. The Americanization of Edward Bok (1921) by Edward Bok and The
America I Believe In by Colin Powell, display the perspectives of two authors, who have lived as
immigrants, through their own personal anecdotes. Both Edward Bok and Colin Powell convey a
sincerely grateful tone and develop the idea of Americanization and the quest for opportunity
through the use of connotative diction in contrast to the Immigration Chart and Political Cartoon
which have a downright concrete and pessimistic tone and supports the idea that immigration
exposes various challenges to incoming immigrants. Throughout majority of the two passages,
Edward Bok and Colin Powell both convey their perspectives

Demand Estimation Has Been At The Heart Of Many Studies
Literature Review Demand estimation has been at the heart of many studies that focus on questions
regarding market power, merger and acquisition, research and innovation and valuation of new
brands in differentiated products industries. Under the framework of demand estimation, Bresnahan
(1987) constructs equilibrium models of oligopoly under product differentiation and studies the
competition and collusion in the 1995 price war in the American automobile industry. Gasmi,
Laffont and Vuong (1992) study the collusive behavior on price and advertising in the U.S. soft
drink marketпјЊ which is dominated by Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola, after obtaining a full

Firstly, there would be a large number of parameters to be estimated. For example, in a log log
demand system, where logarithms of quantities are linear functions of logarithms of all prices,
without additional restrictions, we would have 10,000 parameters if there were 100 differentiated
products in the market. The second concern introduced when doing demand estimation for
differentiated product is the heterogeneity in consumer tastes. Dixit and Stiglizt (1997) suggest a
representative consumer approach to deal with this. They assume that consumer preferences are
of the right form so that an average consumer exists; there exists a demand system that lends itself
to the level of differentiation observed in the marketplace. However, the required assumptions are
strong and empirically false for many applications (Nevo, 2000). The above two problems are
addressed by logit demand model (McFadden, 1973). The logit model solves dimensionality
problem by projecting the products onto a space of characteristics; in this way, the dimension of the
attribute space instead of the square of the number of products becomes the relevant size. However,
due to the restrictive way of modeling heterogeneity and the property of independence from
irrelevant alternatives (IIA property) in the logit model, substitution pattern between products is
driven completely by

The Importance Of A Hero And Frederick Douglass
Embedded Assessment 1.1 A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes
longer, (Ralph Waldo Emerson). A hero is just like an ordinary person, but they make a choice to
rescue someone, and put their life on the line. For instance, a hero is valiant when they need to be,
sacrifices themself for another, and they don t put another in harm s way.
A heroic person is undaunted by fearsome situations and uses courage when it is needed. When a
hero sees someone in danger, they aren t quite a hero yet. They are just a regular person that
springs into action to save someone. At the Primrose Daycare, a car crashed into a fence, almost
running over some children. A teacher that was nearby tried to shield the kids, [and] she got the
brunt of it, (NBCDFW, Injured in Crash at Frisco Daycare). This woman is a prime example of
courage and her quick actions saved them all. Similarly, Frederick Douglass displayed this
amount of courage as well. Frederick Douglass was a slave that had to be brave and escape
himself and others from the wrath of slavery. This is what the people saved by Douglass think
about him, When it is finally ours, this freedom, this liberty, this beautiful and terrible thing...this
man, this Douglass, this former slave, this Negro beaten to his knees, exiled, visioning a world
where not is lonely, none hunted, alien, this man shall be remembered, (Hayden 81). Frederick had
to be strong and stealthy to make the journey to the North. Both of

A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen
A good book is a book that touches a reader s heart by either being relatable or with great character
development. Cheris Karmarae, a woman s rights activist, stated, Feminism is the radical notion
that women are human beings. This statement is relevant to A Doll s House and is relatable to the
female audience. Not only does A Doll s House incorporate relevant matters, it includes great
characterdevelopment in the protagonist, Nora. Her display of bravery moved many readers.
Unlike A Doll s House, Frankenstein, which is quite fictitious, may appear to not be relatable.
From the summer readings assigned for Sophomore World Literature, A Doll s House, a play
written by Henrik Ibsencaptures the reader s heart while the novel, Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley
was unappealing and uninteresting. Ibsen sets his play, A Doll s House, in an era that captures
the female audience as he shows the hardships of women that are relatable and brilliantly uses
those obstacles for character development while Frankenstein loses interest as it is lengthy due
to its tone and revels on details that are not relevant to the plot. A Doll s House is set in the late
1800 s when women s rights and roles in society was a controversial topic. Ibsen displays Nora as
an ordinary mother and wife going through every day life but incorporates obstacles relevant to the
time to show how they affect women. Women were often stay home mothers who catered to their
children s and husband s needs. HELMER. First

Discrimination Against Hispanics
Discrimination against Hispanics
I chose this topic because it s very interesting. I think that we all know that discriminating
someone by their religion, color or nationality is illegal. According to the Civil Rights Act of
1964, its illegal to against a person based on his/her color, religion, sex, disability, and national
origin. But this doesn t mean its all over and the problem is solved, it may reduce the discrimination
but not enough to eliminate it. Discrimination in the work, purposely or accidentally, not just harms
the workers work knowledge, but it exposes the company to a lawsuit for violating the laws that
defend races and groups. Discrimination against the smaller groups, based on color, race, ethnicity
or other groupings, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How To Write An Autobiography Of Savannah
Early in the morning on the African savannah the sun begins to emerge from the horizon. The
morning sun continues to rise turning the sky a beautiful blood orange color. All types of animals
are called to attention by an African tribal chant; Nants ingonyama bagithi baba!
Groups of animals emerge from the thick fog walking across the grassy savannah. A flock of
flamingos fly across the still crystal water. Herds of antelope hop like frogs through the morning
mist. Meanwhile, a mother giraffe and her calf walk out from the shadows into the warm sunlight.
They stand on a grassy hill and notice below them groups of animals walking in the same
direction. They prance down the hill eager to join them. As they do this, a colonel of red ants

animals gather. Zazu, a small blue bird with a large orange beak flies to the ledge. He bows with
gratitude to Mufasa, a strong powerful lion with a thick red mane. Emerging from the crowd of
animals Rafiki, an elderly baboon with white hair, slowly climbs up the ledge. He hugs Mufasa

The Breakdown Of Continuum Care
First, it s called continuum care system, it deals with tracking and keeping in contact with a patient
over time and to follow them thru their health care services. The breakdown of continuum care is
extended care, acute hospital care, ambulatory care, home care, outreach, wellness and housing. It
could follow a patient from birth to the end of life. The services could be acute healthcare, hospital,
emergency, inpatient services, outpatient services, urgent care, skilled nursing home, rehab, home
care visiting nurse services, hospices, wellness care, public healthand care management and
research.
The components are what services the patient needs from birth to end of life. These components are
prenatal care, behavioral illness, newborn care, preventive care, healthy lifestyle, acute illness acute
injury and rehab. The main challenge would be the improving of health care and managing any
health care problems that might come up. A lot of the process as to do with the environment the
patient lives in(In Information Infrastructure for Healthcare INFORMATION INFRASTRUCTURE
FOR HEALTHCARE.).
All this depends on the patient, do they want treatment, do they want to stay healthy and do they
have the resources to get treatment and do they want to stay healthy. These patients will have to be
followed from birth to the end, so do they want that. That is the challenge keeping these patients
healthy but keeping contact with them to maintain that wellness. Another challenge is helping

sodium acetate with 10 mL of .2M acetic acid with the excepted pH of the solution to be 5. We

My Three Favorite Scenes
The movie Excalibur is a story about a king that is later known as the best king, but we still aren

the reading and watching of Excalibur. One main thing that we are taught through Excalibur is the
code of the knights. The code of the knights was to serve and protect your king while respecting
everyone. While watching this movie I learned a lot about something that I look at as pointless at

meaning behind somethings. I have come on some of my favorite scenes that show the strengths of
many people. The scene that first caught ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Inequality Of A Capitalist Society Essay
There are many inequalities prevalent in the US, and as a capitalist society, one of the most
common is economic inequality. The Equality Trust defines economic inequality, as the gap
between the well off and less well of in regards to overall economic distribution ( How Is ). See,
our capitalist society strongly benefits those with a capitalist mentality and can afford the means
to invest/own capital. Over the years there has been an increasing wealth gap between the top
one percent earners and the general population. So why are the rich flourishing while the poor
are struggling in this capitalist environment? The policy decisions of our country allow this
inequality to permeate throughout our industries, thus creating a culture of power and greed. One
result of this culture is the explosion of high salaries in the US and Emmanuel Saez explains this
trend in Striking it Richer. Saez affirms, Indeed, estimates based purely on wages and salaries
show that the share of total wage and salaries earned by the top 1 percent wage income earners has
jumped from 5.1 percent in 1970 to 12.0 percent in 2006 (Grusky 89). Too bad that the 99 percent
of America missed out on this massive economic growth spurt. When economic growth is not
evenly distributed among the general population, people tend to question our entire system. This
has been an increasingly controversial issue, where corporate America is responsible for the
constant exploitation of low level employees. Through my

In my research, I will look at the effects and wellbeing of Tonle Sap s slum dwellers regarding

livelihood, which is severely under threat from the national and international consequences of the
shift in the growth of modernity which creates a cycle where Cambodian city dweller resort to
migrate to Tonle Sap s slum. As the nation and the region develop, high levels of pollution find
their way into its waters as slum dwellers. This poses a huge threat to the safeguarding of future
generations of both wildlife and human population. The lack of basic sanitary provisions means
that disease epidemics are an everyday risk to human life. A research shows that 1 in 77 newborn

The Evolution Of Political Philosophy And Political Science
As centuries have passed, political thought has undergone constant development and together with
its development are changes. These changes had a tremendous effect in the discipline. Political
philosophy continued to progress which affected both political theory and political science. It
seems that with the progression of political philosophy, there was a growing need for the the
discipline to become more scientific. They wanted it to be based on facts, to become value free
and to be precise. Political philosophystarted veering away from the classics. Despite the continuous
need to be scientific, there were still groups which remained inclined to the classics and believed
that the traditions and values are essential in studying the discipline. These conflicting views
concerning the traditionalists and the behavioralists caused the gap between political philosophy
and political scienceand eventually the two separated. So it seems that as political philosophy
progress, political science branched outside the academe and political theory, as it grew larger
became more and more alienated. In order to explain why political science drifted apart from
political philosophy, one must go back to the history of political philosophy. It is important to

Conspicuous Consumption in Sinclair Lewis Babbit Essay
Conspicuous Consumption in Sinclair Lewis Babbit
The idea of conspicuous consumption, or buying unnecessary items to show one s wealth, can be
seen in Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis. Lewis describes the main character of the book, George F.

and modern material goods just to make himself happy and make people around his aware of his
status. He is more concerned about these items than about his wife or children and to him, god was

In reality, all one needs in a bathroom is a place to use the restroom, take a shower, and clean up.
But in Babbitt s house the towel rack was a rod of clear glass set in nickel (5). Even the tooth
brush holder, shaving brush holder, soap dish...resembled an electrical instrument board (5).
The Babbitt bedroom was full of things deemed valuable, like toilet articles of almost solid
silver and mattresses which had cost a great deal of money (13 14). Their house had the latest
conveniences such as three plugs for electric lamps and a dining room with its admirable oak
buffet and leaded glass cupboard (14). Babbitt had everything at home and even the very best of
water coolers, up to date, scientific, and right thinking (32) at the office. To him, having all of
this was why his life was worth living. He would buy items of great monetary value, and in return,
his social standing would rise. Lewis wants to show the reader that material possessions are not
everything, and can lead one astray. Babbitt thought he had it all, a nice house, a nice car, all
furnished with the latest objects. What Babbitt did not have, however, was a wife and children who
cared for him and whom he loved with all his heart. His life had no direction and everything
eventually came crashing down on him. Although he had anything and everything a man could want

Britain. Though as of 2008 some of it remains in force, it has largely been superseded by the
Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and regulations made under it. However, the Act
continues to have a legal importance as cases of chronic workplace exposure to hazards such as
industrial noise, as in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire deafness litigation,[3] or carcinogens[4]
often extend back in time beyond the current legislation. Breach of the residual provisions is still a
crime punishable on summary conviction in the Magistrates Court by a fine of... Show more content

Even though most prisons are very secure, they are nowhere near how secure Alcatraz was when
it was open. Alcatraz was a strict, high security federal prison that s located on Alcatraz Island, in
San Francisco Bay, California. While Alcatraz was open escapee Frank Lee Morris was one of the
very few who had attempted to escape and he supposedly made it out alive.
Alcatraz was the most secure prison on the planet. The walls, ceiling, and floor were made of

Some people who have made it out of the prison have tried to swim in the bay, but since they
were accustomed to warm waters they either died of hypothermia or drowned. If a prisoner was
found escaping, they usually were put in the hole, which is a cell that has a solid door to block
off all light. The cells in the hole have no bed, no blankets, no AC which made it cold. Prisoners
were not allowed to wear clothes except for boxer shorts. A day in the life of a prisoner at
Alcatraz is pretty tough. At 6:30 AM the prisoners woke up and tidied up their cells. At 6:45
they went to the mess hall to eat breakfast. Then around 7:25 guards took the inmates to their

participant did not report gender. Participants age ranged from 16 to 60 (M = 24.08, SD = 7.84).
This sample consisted of 77% Hispanic (N = 104), 11% Caucasian (N = 15), 5% African American
(N = 7), 4% Asian (N = 6), and 2% who reported another ethnicity (N = 3).
Materials and Procedure Participants willing to take part in this study were asked for an oral
informed consent. An oral yes or no response was accepted. After consenting to participate,
participants were asked to randomly select one of three writing task documents where they were
first asked to describe an event in their life. Once the writing task was completed, participants were
asked to complete a written survey titled the Feeling Questionnaire where the participant was asked
to reveal how they were currently feeling about themselves. The questionnaire was broken down
into three parts. Part one and part two supplied responses on a rating scale and part three supplied
demographic information.
The questionnaire was set up in a way that questions 1, 2 and 3 in part one were designed to assess
a participant s self esteem and was measured on a rating scale of 1 to 9 with 1 being strongly
disagree and 9 being strongly agree. The writing task was our primary independent variable for this

Flinders Range Biome
A biome is a large area or habitat that occupies the earth. Animals, plants along with flora and
fauna occupy biome habitats. They cleverly adapt to their environment and geographical location.
The area that I have chosen to research are the Flinders Ranges. The Flinders Rangers are in
South Australia, covering 37,000 square kilometres. The biome expands from Crystal Brook in the
south to Mount Hopeless in the north. There are several main general features associated with this
semi arid biome. It has landforms that are above sea level. The biome has high mountain ranges
with summits reaching 900 metres. The area has steep gorges, cliffs, ridges and plateaus. The
biome edges have grasslands and foothills which contain creeks, gorges, valleys,... Show more

time. It just depends on how tall you are and how high the hoop is that you are playing on. My dad
taught me how to playand shoot the ball. Also he taught me how to dribble the ball while looking
at the person who is guarding me. The time we went to the championship i was the first person to
score the first five points in that game. I know how to dunk while playing basketball. I know how to
because i can jump high and throw it in the hoop. But how you play you have to five people on
each team. I am always by the hoop so i can dunk the ball when it gets passed to me. Almost every

Coastal Artillery Research Paper
Coastal Artillery is an anti ship artillery used to defend the coast with heavy sized weapons. In this
essay, you will learn a few facts on the history of Coastal artillery, and weaponry.
From the middle ages to WWII, Coastal artillery was highly important to the U.S. in the defense of
the coast and in naval battles. One of the first uses of coastal artillery was in 1381, but it expanded
in the 16th century, during the Age of Discoveries. In 1794, Coastal artillery was established as a
branch in the army, creating the first system in 1794 and the second system in 1804. Coastal
artillery was organized into 7 regiments, two of which were created in 1898. However, in 1901

Coastal artillery was responsible for the installation and operation of controlled mine fields.

causing extensive amounts of slave work and wealthy individuals to live pretentious lifestyles.

Rockefeller was in fact a villain, he is also thought of as a hero to the Gilded Age because of the
few good acts he did. During the Gilded Age, oil was very expensive and difficult to
acquire.Overall, only the wealthy and well privileged had much access to it, but Standard Oil
developed the world s largest oil refineries and drove down the cost of refining oil, (World Book,
Rockefeller). With Rockefeller as the head of the company, he was able to expand access of oil
to those who didn t have as much money and produce large amounts of oil for little cost. With his
new ideas and methods, he was able to cut down oil cost and produce more of it more efficiently
and quicker than that of the past. Due to becoming one of the wealthiest individuals in the United
States, Rockefeller had a substantial amount of money and He gave away about $540 million
during his lifetime. He gave most of his money to the public through foundations he established
himself and through other organizations, (World Book, Rockefeller). These other foundations,
which were mainly universities, highly profited and grew off of these generous donations from
Rockefeller. They are still functioning today and Rockefellers impact on them has never been
forgotten. As a result, John D. Rockefeller was thought of to be a hero rather than a villain.
Besides all this good he may have done, his selfish acts can t go unseen and unnoticed from his
action.
John D Rockefeller lived a higher, better life than almost every American during this time age. He
also obtained an extravagant amount of power through his work and company. His good deeds
were overruled by his many bad deeds therefore making him a villain rather than a hero.

Traditional Surrogacy And Gestational Surrogacy
HOW
Surrogacy is the arrangement of a birth of a child when the parents are not actually childbearing.
This involves a legal agreement between the surrogate and parents, that puts the child under the
care of the parents immediately after birth. The surrogate has no legal ties to the baby and formally
renounces her rights as a parent to the child. There are many different types of surrogacy and ways
in which one can do this procedure. Traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy are two of
the most popular and well known forms of surrogacy. Traditional uses intrauterine insemination
to implant the biological father s sperm into the egg of the surrogate. This procedure is typically
used when the mother s eggs or father s sperm is no longer viable. Also, this procedure is less
expensive and complex than in vitro fertilization. This procedure allows the father of the child to
be the biological sperm donor, and feel possessive over his kin. Due to the genetic relation of the
baby to the surrogate mother in this situation, the surrogate is often a relative or friend of the
parents. This can make matters more complex if there is a disagreement during the pregnancy or
after the baby is born. Although, this way the baby is still biologically related to the father and
possibly the mother, if a family member becomes their surrogate. The first legal case of
surrogacy was in 1970 with a baby by the title of, baby M. The lawyer who arranged the baby and
mother went on to develop

Some people would say the chin is where the soul is located. Others would say the soul is located

instead allow teams to bid on draft slots using wins. This would first require calculating the

the above average teams would bid in a second process on whichever of the first fourteen picks

Themes Of Violence In Dante In Love, Dante Alighieri
Introduction
According to English writer, A. N. Wilson, in Dante in Love , Dante Alighieri,
A.N. Wilson s perspective of Dante Alighieri as a poet, as well as a madman
According to (Wilson 2011), Dante Alighieri, author of the Divine Comedy, is a man whom
resembled both a poet and a madman. Wilson briefly emphasises in, Dante in Love , the two
contrasting depictions from Leonardo Bruni and Giovanni Boccaccio, of whom Dante was with
regards to the role that he played within the Florentine society and how it influenced him as a poet
in his work. (Sayers 1949), asserts that the Divine Comedy is an allegorical poem, influenced by,
Dante s theological, political and personal background .

The circle is broken up further into three separate sections of whom these acts of violence can be
imposed on. These sins of violence is taken on three different forms being: performing harm on
other people, harm on oneself or harm on God, as explain by Vigil in the eleventh canto of the
Divine Comedy (Sayers, Dante The Divine Comedy 1: Hell 1949).
The relationship between violence and Dante as a poet
The violence portrayed in the poem
The relationship between violence and madness
In accordance with the scenes of violence found in Dante s Inferno, a link can be found in Wilson s
argument that violent scenes within the poem can justify the possibility of Dante being both a
poet, as well as a madman. Dante s Inferno, as emphasised by A. N. Wilson, is a popular and
exciting read not only from the unpredictability of order of events (Dante wrote Inferno without
have a clear vision of how the poem will end), but for the poem s, sheer brilliance and beauty of
its words, its music , as well as for its, unforgettable characterization (Wilson 2011).

A cross sectional analysis indicates that the share price response is mainly a function of the relative
п¬Ѓne imposed on the п¬Ѓrm; other explanatory variables such as environmental performance
news or sector membership were unsuccessful in explaining variations in the market responses they
observed. Equally, Accounting Forum has been interested in the interdependencies between social
and environmental accounting which extend to the nexus between accounting and information to
employees and other relevant parties. In this issue of Accounting Forum, R. G. Day presents
evidence concerning the evolution of reporting about employees in the last century and its
relationship with mandatory disclosure rules (Day, 2004). This is an interesting phenomenon, given
that the current conceptual framework for corporate environmental reporting has only recently
begun to analyse the relationship between voluntary and regulated disclosure. For example,
accounting research is only just beginning to examine the relationships between the role that
International Standards such as ISO 14001 have had on the reporting function. In Day s article,
however, he focuses on evidence from the UK and п¬Ѓnds that there is an apparent disregard for
statutory disclosures. Implicit in much of the Corporate Environmental and Social Reporting (CE

Siddhartha Gautama Research Paper
Siddhartha Gautama was the first person to discover Buddhism in the late 6th century B.C.E.
He was originally known as a spiritual teacher when he began teaching followers about the
religion. As time passed, he was then referred to as the Buddha and followers viewed him more
as a savior than a teacher. A savior is identified as a religious figure who saves someone from
danger, where as a spiritual teacher gives knowledge to a person with little understanding of
spiritual facts. The same reason is given for Jesusas the messiah for those who practice Christianity.
Both of these groups consider Jesus and Buddha, Saviors. Followers of Buddha were taught how
to be kind, gentle, and how to have a positive mind that cares for their lives. Buddha s teachings
were clear and gave suggestions on how people were supposed to live. Spiritual teachers only focus
on teaching people the idea of spirit. Buddha s work was focused on teaching people about the holy

expected to do and how to live a sin free live. Followers of Jesus realized that he was their savior.
His death was an exact sign of a true savior who people believed in. Although there are many
differences between Buddhism and Christianity, Jesus and Buddha are both known saviors. They
each helped their followers understand the spiritual life and what is expected from them in order to
have a positive and healthy life. These are teachings that a spiritual teacher would not

Sayyid Qutb s Impact on Islam
2. Evaluate the impact on Islam of ONE significant person or school of thought.
Sayyid Qutb had a seemingly minimal impact throughout his life, but his teachings and ideology
have become of significant importance to the Islamic faith. However his views and thoughts of that
are somewhat extreme have lead some followers to form organizations which are involved with
radical, extreme and terrorist activities.
Qutb s teachings and commentary of Islamic teachings are seen to hold considerable authority and
significance to adherents of Islam. His main and most revered teachings included: the belief in
Tawhid (the oneness of God), the concept of Jahiliyya (pagan ignorance), jihad (struggle) and the
need to revive Islam.
Through his first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus it is evident, that Qutb s teachings in the ideal of jahiliyya were fundamental to the pathway
that Islam decided to follow, and did in fact promote the teachings of Islam and sustained growth.
Qutb was one of the most significant figures in the development of jihadi Salafi ideology. Qutb in
true Salafi style, reanalysed the Qur an to find new ideology. Qutb acknowledge that the
contemporary jama at (movement) would also encounter periods of weakness. Therefore he
insisted that here was an immediate need for a new movement. Qutb also constantly stated that
there was a need for new leadership. He claimed that the new leaders should engage in jihad
(struggle) against jahiliyya, so that a true Islamic state can be established. His teachings of jihad
and the need to use force if the survival of the Islam was under threat, is being used today out of
his context of time by extreme terrorist groups. Members of these radical groups say are not afraid
to die for their cause because Qutb gave them reason: For a pious life is a life of struggle or jihad
for Islam, and struggle means martyrdom .
Qutb s actions, books and somewhat extreme teachings all greatly contributed to the revival of
Islam. He successfully contributed to the revival of the Islamic faith through his commentary and
teachings on the Qur an and the tradition. In this action, adherents were able to gain a greater
understanding of Allah and

What Are The Arguments Against Texting And Driving
In the age of advanced technology, it is no wonder why many municipalities allow texting and
driving. If you take a look around you at any given point, it would be almost impossible to not
find someone texting on their phone. Texting has become an integral part of communication for
all. Whether it s a teenager or a C.E.O of a company, we all use texting as a critical means of
getting information to one another in an instant. Therefore, it is clear to see why texting and
driving are allowed in certain location throughout the country. However, I believe that it should be
against the law. One reason is because texting requires someone to use his or her hands to text
instead of steer. The second reason is that texting requires the use of one s eyes causing driver
distraction that may lead to accidents. There have been arguments that as long as... Show more

They also claim that the distraction is not any worse than changing a radio station or talking to
someone. Neither one of these things are illegal to do while operating a motor vehicle. Therefore,
texting should not be illegal. There is also the argument that if the phone is held up to the
windshield level, a driver may still have some attention on the roadway and any impending dangers
that it presents. While all these points are true and valid, my argument against them is that it adding
more distraction than what is already considered normal. As I stated previously, most of us drive
with one hand, which already creates an issue. When you add all these other things we do that are
not illegal such as changing the radio station, looking for things, and even applying make up, it
creates an atmosphere of nearly total inattention to the most important part of operating a motor
vehicle. That is simply keeping both your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the

Archaic Word Choice And Run-On Sentences
From of Plymouth Plantation : Archaic Word Choice and Run On Sentences
Daniel J Boorstin once said, By reading we discover our world, or history and ourselves. Although
reading history can be very difficult for some people due to archaic language and run on sentences.
These factors make grasping the authors point very difficult, and problematic to the average
person. The document From of Plymouth Plantation by William Bradford was extremely difficult
to read due to his use of uncommon words, run on sentences, and choppy paragraphs. These things
may cause the reader to lose interest or have a hard time comprehending Bradford s writing.
In this document, William Bradford uses very uncommon words that can be hard to comprehend ...

An example of the run on sentences is, Being thus passed the vast ocean, and a sea of troubles
before in their preparation (as may be remembered by that which went before), they had now no
friends to welcome them, nor inns to entertain or refresh their weather beaten bodies, no houses
or much less towns to repair to, to seek for succor, (60). This line is a run on sentence because the
entire sentence is a paragraph long which could easily confuse the reader. Another example, And
for the season it was winter and they that know the winters of that country know them to be sharp
and violent, and subject to cruel and fierce storms, dangerous to travel to known places much more
to search an unknown coast, (61). This is another example of a run on sentence would be this
because this sentence goes on for four lines and could be found quite frustrating to the modern
reader. The last example, And of these in the time most distress, there was but 6 or 7 sound persons,
who, to their great commendations be it spoken, spared no pains, night nor day, but with abundance
of toll and hazard of their own health, fetched them wood, made them fires, dressed them meat,
made their beds, washed their loathsome clothes, clothed and unclothed them: in a word did all the
homely and necessary offices for them which dainty and queasy stomachs cannot endure to hear

Was Appeasement Justified
Was Appeasement a Mistake ?H/W07.03.13 There are many arguments for and against
appeasement before WW2. Appeasement was a policy between Britain, France and Germany. The
policy meant that the allies would give Germany what they wanted as long as they didn t start a
war or cause trouble. The Dictionary definition of appeasement is: (Government, Politics amp;
Diplomacy) the policy of acceding to the demands of a potentially hostile nation in the hope of
maintaining peace. Many people now oppose the policy but not many people did at the time apart
from the MP Winston Churchill. An argument for appeasement is that Germany deserved to have a
better deal as The Treaty of Versailles, many British people thought, was too harsh. If... Show more

So each time he did an act of aggression and nobody did anything, he asked himself Can I get
away with even more?! And of course he could. It is thought that Hitler was very nervous about
taking soldiers into the Rhineland, but when nobody did anything he grew in confidence, and
this encouraged him to make more demands for land. As well as this another reason against
appeasement was that every time Germany took land, they got stronger, consequently becoming
harder to defeat. So in some way Britain and France were helping (in the long term) Germany by
giving things that helped them in the war. Many people think that the allies should have just
have faced the music and fought the war there and then while Germany weren t as strong as they
were becoming. Moreover the appeasement scared the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
(USSR). When Germany invaded Czechoslovakia France and Britain did not do anything hence
why the USSR reached an agreement with Germany called the Nazi Soviet Pact. The pact meant
that Germany and Russia would not go to war with each other and invade Poland together and
spilt it between the two countries. Hitler would never of been able to invade Poland if it meant
getting past the USSR. Also Hitler always had one aim: Conquer the East. The allies should of
know what Hitler was going to do, as he made it very in his speeches and letters that nothing was
going to stop

Comparing Film Trailers of Mission Impossible Two and...
Comparing Film Trailers of Mission Impossible Two and Gladiator In the essay I will compare
and analyse the two film trailers I have been studying, Mission Impossible 2 and Gladiator . I
will analyse and compare the different techniques used. These techniques are; Use of characters,
lighting and colour, camera shots and angles, sound and music and editing and framing. In doing
this I will be able to show how effective each trailer is in attracting an audience. Film trailers are
an important form of advertising for a film. They should convey the genre of the film and most
importantly, include enough visual information to allow us to recognise what the film s story line
is. However, a film... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Impossible theme tune begins to play. This really livens up the atmosphere and the viewer is
now very entertained. Then a voice over begins. The voice is a serious one, and you can
immediately tell that Tom Cruise is under strict instructions from this man. Now this has all
happened, the audience can recognise what genre of film this is, a typical Mission Impossible
or James Bond film. In the trailer for Gladiator , there are lots of good techniques used. To start
with, there is a close up of Russel Crowe dressed in Roman clothing, then it fades out to a plain
black screen that has, The General written on it. It then super imposes back to a camera shot of
Crowe walking through a line of slaves. It then fades back out to, The Slave . It does this several
times with various messages on the screen. This gives the audience a hint about what might
happen in the film. These few opening sequences show that the film Is set in the ancient Roman
era. This differs from Mission Impossible 2 as that is set nowadays, or at least in modern times.
The trailer then moves into showing action scenes, which make the viewer suddenly more alert and
excited, as the first few scenes are dramatic but rather dull. The action scenes begin, and the
audience immediately begins to watch the

Common Themes in Poetry Essay
Common Themes in Poetry
After reading and analysing numerous poems, I have chosen two examples of the famous Irish
Poet, Seamus Heaney s work: Follower and
Mid Term Break . Both poems relate to the poet s past, and are certainly associated with a specific
loss of a loved one one a literal loss, and the other a subconscious loss.
Mid Term Break , which I found to be a very touching and poignant poem, describes the loss of
the poet s younger brother, Christopher when Heaney was a child, hence the poem is of a
childhood tragedy as well as a loss. It s set in three places the introduction is situated in the college
sick bay; the main body of the poem is set in
Heaney s brother s funeral, and the final setting is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, we acknowledge that this isn t just any ordinary funeral someone very dear has been lost, a
small treasure; a small treasure who s absence has caused the strongest of rocks to crumble into an
emotional state.
A double meaning is presented in the final line of the second stanza:
Big Jim Evans saying it was a hard blow
The hard blow may be referring to the actual blow that killed
Christopher (as he was killed by a car), or the fact that it s a hard blow to the family. Either way,
one fact becomes apparent: the Heaney family have the support and love of everyone around them,
but that doesn t counteract for the tragic loss of Christopher it may help clean the wound, but the
scar will forever be visible. We also attain the knowledge, due to his very personal identity, that Big
Jim Evans is a family friend, and that he himself is shaken by the situation considering his very
plain and yet meaningful comment. Again, the sadness and incredibility of the incident is
underlined not only family members are grieving.
Another detection of change is seen in the third stanza, and this time it s a very uncomfortable
change:
I was embarrassed
By old men standing up to shake my hand

High Performance Culture as a Strategy in Human Resource...
Question
How is Human Resource Management linked to strategy and organizational outcomes? Discuss a
model that depicts the links with a brief discussion of each link.
For an organization to be successful, it must employ good strategies in the running of its business.
Strategies are needed to achieve the company s objectives and give it a competitive advantage
against its competitors. It determines the direction in which the organization is going in relation to
its environment and how the business develops. Strategies are further segregated into corporate or
business strategies where the focus is the formulation of plans and ideas to improve and increase its
market share, and internal management strategies which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Constant review of performance is also required including guidance from the management.
Empowerment of the employees where the staff who are closest to the customer are empowered
and given discretionary authority to make decisions will help to improve customer service delivery
and thus attain a higher level of customer satisfaction. Customers prefer to deal with a company
where their needs can be attended to and resolved immediately. By allowing employees to make
decisions especially those affecting the customers, it will build up a better customer relationship
and rapport resulting in improved business for the organization.
As mentioned above, people development is an important strategy in good human resource
practice, more so in a high performance management culture. Skills must be constantly upgraded
and developed, new skills cultivated, and new information and knowledge imparted to the people
in order to ensure the company has a constant source of skilled, experienced and qualified
workforce. This will then be able to improve on their performance thus helping to achieve the
company s mission.
Career development and advancement is another important aspect in achieving a high performance
environment. People are motivated not only by rewards in the form of salary, incentive, benefits
but also opportunities for promotion

Analysis Of The Poem Cousin Nancy And Morning At The...
Cousin Nancy and Morning at the Window Poem Analysis and Exploration
Cousin Nancy
By T. S. Eliot
Miss Nancy Ellicott
Strode across the hills and broke them,
Rode across the hills and broke them
The barren New England hills
Riding to hounds
Over the cow pasture.
Miss Nancy Ellicott smoked
And danced all the modern dances;
And her aunts were not quite sure how they felt about it,
But they knew that it was modern.
Upon the glazen shelves kept watch
Matthew and Waldo, guardians of the faith,
The army of unalterable law.
Morning at the Window
T. S. Eliot, 1888 1965
They are rattling breakfast plates in basement kitchens,
And along the trampled edges of the street
I am aware of the damp souls of housemaids
Sprouting despondently at area gates. The brown waves of fog toss up to me
Twisted faces from the bottom of the street,
And tear from a passer by with muddy skirts
An aimless smile that hovers in the air
And vanishes along the level of the roofs.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be told you can t do something, because it s not
ladylike? It seems time and time again women in history were once told to be seen and not heard.
T. S. Eliot s poem Cousin Nancy broke barriers during its time with its writing about the modern
woman. Cousin Nancy may only be three stanzas, but Eliot s writing broke down barriers about the
stereotypical ideas of a poised,

Congress Rule 1937
Government of India Act, 1935:
The Government of India Act, 1935 was formulated after long deliberations but was not fully
promulgated but the only provincial part was introduced in the country, the central part was not
introduced. The British govt deliberated on it and then the British parliament passed this law and
then the king signed this law and this became the govt of India Act of 1935, under which the
elections of 1937 would be held elections were held. The Muslim League criticized this law for a
number of reasons and the same was the case with the Congress party but agreed to contest
provincial elections to make advantage of the opportunities being provided under the govt of India
Act.
The 1937 Elections:
Provincial elections were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Congress won 18 seats and the Akali Dal, 10.[8] In Bengal, though the Congress was the
largest party (with 52 seats), The Krishak Praja Party of A. K. Fazlul Huq(with 36 seats) was able
to form a coalition government.
[edit]The Muslim League
The election results were a blow to the League. After the election,Muhammad Ali Jinnah of the
League offered to form coalitions with the Congress. The League insisted that the Congress should
not nominate any Muslims to the ministries, as it (the League) claimed to be the exclusive
representative of Indian Muslims. This was not acceptable to the Congress, and it declined the
League s offer.
Projection of Congress:
The Congress projected itself as an all India force representing all religions and factions of the
society. The Muslim League contested for the Muslim seats. The ML focused only on the
Muslims because it claimed to be the sole representative of the Muslims. There was a tough
competition from the other Muslim organizations in different provinces which were also claiming
to be the representatives of the Muslims. In this way the ML was not only competing with the
Congress only but with a number of other Muslim groups and political parties at the provincial
level. The elections were completed in February 1937. And if we look at the results of these
elections we

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Unact Unmanned Ground...
A compact unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) should be capable to travel through rough terrain
while traversing within confined spaces. In many applications, it is practically expedient that the
vehicles used must be economical, so that multiple rovers may be deployed to accomplish a given
mission. The cost of the UGV can be reduced by minimizing its size and mechanical intricacy. As
in a traditional treaded/tracked vehicle, here the model has a pair of treadassemblies or tracks,
driven by an internal sprocket, mounted on either side of a central chassis [1], [2]. A single chassis
holds the actuators, sensors, electronics, and battery. It includes the concept of inverted pendulum
for various upright configurations, capable of surmounting obstacles, including stairs. The

The standard treaded platform consists of two fixed tread mechanisms mounted on opposite
sides of a central chassis. This type of UGV performs well over a variety of both smooth and
complex terrains (including dirt, gravel, sand, snow, etc.), but the limitation persist as before.
This limitation may be extended by adding additional sprocket chain mechanism to increase the
height of system (such as the trapezoidal shape), or by adding secondary articulated treaded
segments or flippers . Additional treaded segments may be added to increase a treaded vehicle s
adroitness, but the cost gets increased. Here a compact treaded UGV, which is capable of
overcoming obstacles roundly as high as its treads are long via a unique mechanical architecture
and adept implementation of feedback control algorithms is shown. The overall height or the rover
can be adjusted and made as per the requirement. Here LQR controller along with LQT is used.
Finally, the transformation to different modes of operation are shown in simulation part.

Chechnya The Continuing Conflict
Chechnya is situated in the Caucasus Mountains, between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. It is
surrounded by Dagestan to the east, Georgia and South Ossetia to the south, Russia to the north and
North Ossetia in the west. Chechnya is rich in mineral oil and produced twenty million tons per
year before the disintegration of the Soviet Union. The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 created
the opportunity for the Russian provinces to declare their independence. The Russian government
managed to keep its control of all states apart from Chechnya, which, under the new president
Dzhokhar Dudayev, declared independence in October 1991.

The news reported from the ravaged cities within Chechnya is more than disturbing, but as
disturbing as this is, media bias does need to be accounted for. The eyewitness accounts and the
various reports from Human Rights activists are all informative but of a distinct nature, to disgrace
the west into doing some thing about the disintegrating situation in the state. Russian forces have
committed grave abuses, but the situation is one that needs to be rendered regardless of how it is
reported. Human Rights Watch have documented both Russian and Chechen acts of war crimes.
The situation is dire in all cases from massacres, rapes and beatings, to completely ignoring the
well fair of civilians. The Russians have disregarded completely the Geneva Convention
obligations, with central market bombings; civilians deaths in Chechnya weigh heavily in the total
death toll of the war. This situation is unacceptable for wartime in the twenty first century. The war
has taken its toll on many parts of Chechnya; most areas look more like wasteland, especially the
capital Grozny.
The Russian atrocity s are documented by many individual groups, yet all say much the same
thing: Russian forces have refused to allow civilians a safe passage through to neighbouring
borders for refuge, men especially had trouble leaving, being beaten tortured and often subject to
arbitrary arrest.

The Privacy Of The Patriot Act
Privacy
The misuse of our personal information collected by private and public institutions has made
privacy, or the lack of it, a major societal concern today. One of the biggest reasons privacy has
become such an issue is the enactment of the Patriot Act , signed into law in reaction to the
attacks on 9/11/2001. This act broadened the ability for the US government to collect surveillance
on people in order to protect against terrorism inside the US. Critiques say it violates our civil
liberties and undermines our democracy. One example of this is the collection and storage of phone
data by the government under the Patriot Act. Is this an invasion of privacy? In order to keep society
safe, a certain amount of private information has to be known by Law Enforcement. In order to
collect taxes and for society to function, the government also needs some information. Collecting
basic information isn t an invasion of privacy, but the collection phone data is too intrusive. Can the
public trust the government to not miss use or lose the information they have on them?
The government and major companies have frequently leaked and misused the public s
information. For example, in Ted Koppel s 2005 article on Take My Privacy, Please! , he mentions
how Bank of America lost personal information on about 1.2 million federal government
employees, including some senators. LexisNexis unintentionally gave outsiders access to personal
files on over 310,000 people. Time Warner

  • 2. Generic Biologics As A Tool For Evaluating The Safety And... 1.Background/Statement Of Problem: Generic biologics (otherwise referred to as biosimilars or follow on biologics), are described by the FDA as biological products that are highly similar to already approved biological products, notwithstanding minor differences in clinically interactive components and for which there are no clinically meaningful differences between the biosimilar and the approved biological products in terms of safety, purity and potency [4]. Biosimilars are copies of approved biologics, whose patent protection has ended and are analogous to a generic version of a chemically derived drug. Generic biologics are however more complicated to develop than a generic version of a chemically derived drug owing to their complex structure and inherent variability [3]. The assessment of bioequivalence as a tool for evaluating the safety and efficacy is based on the fundamental Bioequivalence Assumption that if two drug products are shown to be bioequivalent in average bioavailability, it is assumed they will reach the same therapeutic effect and be used interchangeably [1]. However, characterizing generic versions of small molecules drugs is considerably easier than characterizing biologic drugs due to several key characteristics [3], based on the fact that characteristics of biologics are influenced by: choice of source materials (cell line), production process, purification process and the final pharmaceutical formulation. • 3. A Comprehensive Analysis of the Rwandan Genocide to the... Beginning on April 6, 1994, Hutus began a mass slaughtering of the Tutsis in the African country of Rwanda. This mass slaughtering is labeled as genocide, the deliberate obliteration of an ethnic, racial, religious, or political group. The Rwandan genocide lasted 100 days while other countries stood idly by and watched the brutal killings continue. The hatred against the Tutsis began after the RPF invasion in October of 1990. Accusations from editorials and radio broadcasts claimed Tutsis wanted to establish a monarchy with Hutuslaves; other racial libel included all the Tutsis being called cockroaches. Many years prior to the Rwandan genocide, a similar deliberate extinction occurred. Between 1933 and 1945, members of the Nazi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... George Stanton, the president of Genocide Watch, suggested genocide develops in eight stages that are predictable but not inexorable (Mare, 2011). Stage one is classification where people are alienated into us and them depending on ethnicity, nationality, race, and religion; in this case, German and Jew, Hutu and Tutsi depict the mentality of the superior group. According to Mare, The main preventive measure at this early stage is to develop universalistic institutions that transcend ethnic or racial divisions, that actively promote tolerance and understanding, and that promote classifications that transcend the divisions (2011). Symbolization, the second stage, is used to classify these groups; names or symbols may be forced upon reluctant members of the groups. For example, the Nazis used the yellow star to symbolize the Jews; this symbol was worn on clothing or imprinted on Jewish establishments. A preventive measure used to combat the symbolization is to outlaw hate symbols along with hate speech. The next includes dehumanization, where one group establishes their superiority and rejects the humanity of an additional group. Animals, insects, or diseases are normally equated with members of the dehumanized group; case in point, the Hutus equated the Tutsis with cockroaches during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Bellamy s What consumer thinks about Bellamy s organic company? The Australian company Bellamy s organic formula has huge demand as per various news articles and reports published all over the news. Compared to its competitors, cost of Bellamy s formula has been reasonable and also known to be the best in quality. These two factors have made Bellamy s, the most competitive and the largest supplier of baby formula in Australia. There weren t any allegations against the company regarding the quality of the product supplied, the price at which the product retailed or even the company s relations with its customers. Due to the ongoing scarcity for baby formula, there have been several issues the company had to deal with. One of the major concerns is the retailers. Bellamy s Organic realized that its retailers were making huge profits off the sales of its baby formula. In order to keep the price reachable to common man, Bellamy s decided to take matters into its own hands. They launched an online retail store from which consumers can order the formula directly and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were buying the formula in bulk and carrying it back to China where they could easily it for three times the price they bought it for. This idea was found to be a great business plan and more and more people were travelling on tourist visas and making frequent trips back and forth. Before the government and the company realized it, Bellamy s Organic baby formula was in huge demand in the grey markets of other countries. As soon as the government and company noticed the situation, several restrictions were imposed on the purchase and transport of the tins along with the passengers. This move by the government received immense criticism from the consumers from other countries while the consumers from Australia welcomed this move as it restricted the formula from moving out of the ... • 5. The Americanization Of Edward Bok And The America I Believe Since the dawn of American colonization in the early 1600s, the notion of immigrating to America has long been instilled upon various people as a stimulating opportunity to begin a fresh chapter in their lives. Even now, this possibility has brought many variations of people to America, culminating a society that brims with dreams and aspirations to form the diversified nation of today. When speaking of the current state of immigration, it is easy to conclude that immigration is heavily discussed from political standpoints. Though this current condition is composed of highly controversial perspectives, many of the early century viewpoints found in literature genuinely embrace reality, for these writers were indeed immigrants themselves, thus adding an authoritative standpoint over immigration. The Americanization of Edward Bok (1921) by Edward Bok and The America I Believe In by Colin Powell, display the perspectives of two authors, who have lived as immigrants, through their own personal anecdotes. Both Edward Bok and Colin Powell convey a sincerely grateful tone and develop the idea of Americanization and the quest for opportunity through the use of connotative diction in contrast to the Immigration Chart and Political Cartoon which have a downright concrete and pessimistic tone and supports the idea that immigration exposes various challenges to incoming immigrants. Throughout majority of the two passages, Edward Bok and Colin Powell both convey their perspectives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Demand Estimation Has Been At The Heart Of Many Studies Literature Review Demand estimation has been at the heart of many studies that focus on questions regarding market power, merger and acquisition, research and innovation and valuation of new brands in differentiated products industries. Under the framework of demand estimation, Bresnahan (1987) constructs equilibrium models of oligopoly under product differentiation and studies the competition and collusion in the 1995 price war in the American automobile industry. Gasmi, Laffont and Vuong (1992) study the collusive behavior on price and advertising in the U.S. soft drink marketпјЊ which is dominated by Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola, after obtaining a full information maximum likelihood estimation of demand functions. Hausman, Leonard and Zona... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, there would be a large number of parameters to be estimated. For example, in a log log demand system, where logarithms of quantities are linear functions of logarithms of all prices, without additional restrictions, we would have 10,000 parameters if there were 100 differentiated products in the market. The second concern introduced when doing demand estimation for differentiated product is the heterogeneity in consumer tastes. Dixit and Stiglizt (1997) suggest a representative consumer approach to deal with this. They assume that consumer preferences are of the right form so that an average consumer exists; there exists a demand system that lends itself to the level of differentiation observed in the marketplace. However, the required assumptions are strong and empirically false for many applications (Nevo, 2000). The above two problems are addressed by logit demand model (McFadden, 1973). The logit model solves dimensionality problem by projecting the products onto a space of characteristics; in this way, the dimension of the attribute space instead of the square of the number of products becomes the relevant size. However, due to the restrictive way of modeling heterogeneity and the property of independence from irrelevant alternatives (IIA property) in the logit model, substitution pattern between products is driven completely by ... • 7. The Importance Of A Hero And Frederick Douglass Embedded Assessment 1.1 A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer, (Ralph Waldo Emerson). A hero is just like an ordinary person, but they make a choice to rescue someone, and put their life on the line. For instance, a hero is valiant when they need to be, sacrifices themself for another, and they don t put another in harm s way. A heroic person is undaunted by fearsome situations and uses courage when it is needed. When a hero sees someone in danger, they aren t quite a hero yet. They are just a regular person that springs into action to save someone. At the Primrose Daycare, a car crashed into a fence, almost running over some children. A teacher that was nearby tried to shield the kids, [and] she got the brunt of it, (NBCDFW, Injured in Crash at Frisco Daycare). This woman is a prime example of courage and her quick actions saved them all. Similarly, Frederick Douglass displayed this amount of courage as well. Frederick Douglass was a slave that had to be brave and escape himself and others from the wrath of slavery. This is what the people saved by Douglass think about him, When it is finally ours, this freedom, this liberty, this beautiful and terrible thing...this man, this Douglass, this former slave, this Negro beaten to his knees, exiled, visioning a world where not is lonely, none hunted, alien, this man shall be remembered, (Hayden 81). • 8. A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen A good book is a book that touches a reader s heart by either being relatable or with great character development. Cheris Karmarae, a woman s rights activist, stated, Feminism is the radical notion that women are human beings. This statement is relevant to A Doll s House and is relatable to the female audience. Not only does A Doll s House incorporate relevant matters, it includes great characterdevelopment in the protagonist, Nora. Her display of bravery moved many readers. Unlike A Doll s House, Frankenstein, which is quite fictitious, may appear to not be relatable. From the summer readings assigned for Sophomore World Literature, A Doll s House, a play written by Henrik Ibsencaptures the reader s heart while the novel, Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley was unappealing and uninteresting. Ibsen sets his play, A Doll s House, in an era that captures the female audience as he shows the hardships of women that are relatable and brilliantly uses those obstacles for character development while Frankenstein loses interest as it is lengthy due to its tone and revels on details that are not relevant to the plot. A Doll s House is set in the late 1800 s when women s rights and roles in society was a controversial topic. Ibsen displays Nora as an ordinary mother and wife going through every day life but incorporates obstacles relevant to the time to show how they affect women. Women were often stay home mothers who catered to their children s and husband s needs. HELMER. First ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Discrimination Against Hispanics Discrimination against Hispanics I chose this topic because it s very interesting. I think that we all know that discriminating someone by their religion, color or nationality is illegal. According to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, its illegal to against a person based on his/her color, religion, sex, disability, and national origin. But this doesn t mean its all over and the problem is solved, it may reduce the discrimination but not enough to eliminate it. Groups of animals emerge from the thick fog walking across the grassy savannah. A flock of flamingos fly across the still crystal water. Herds of antelope hop like frogs through the morning mist. Meanwhile, a mother giraffe and her calf walk out from the shadows into the warm sunlight. They stand on a grassy hill and notice below them groups of animals walking in the same direction. • 13. Doubt Movie Essay Doubt by: John Patrick Shanley (Movie directed by: John Patrick Shanley) We watched the movie version of Doubt (2008) by: John Patrick Shanley, he also wrote the play Doubt: A Parable (2004), which the movie Doubt is based on. This movie was really good, I liked it more than I thought I was going to too be honest. The end was just like whoa, wait what so did he do it or not and your thinking it could go either way. I see what you meant by the audience being sided afterwards this movie would be a heated war at my house for days most likely. The movie was so well done and that s hard to say about a lot of movies, especially the two sided ones. Henderson Hasselbalch Lab Report In the first experiment my partner and I selected to produce a buffer that contained 35mL of .1M sodium acetate with 10 mL of .2M acetic acid with the excepted pH of the solution to be 5. We used C1V1=C2V2 to first calculate the theoretical concentration of both the weak acid and the weak base in the buffer solution. Then using the theoretical concentration and the Henderson Hasselbalch equation we were able to calculate the excepted pH. After calculating the pH we then measured the experimental pH of the produced buffer and found it to be 4.9. This showcased that there was a difference of 2% between the theoretical pH and the experimental pH. We further measured the buffering capacity of three different samples one being the buffer that... • 18. The Inequality Of A Capitalist Society Essay There are many inequalities prevalent in the US, and as a capitalist society, one of the most common is economic inequality. The Equality Trust defines economic inequality, as the gap between the well off and less well of in regards to overall economic distribution ( How Is ). See, our capitalist society strongly benefits those with a capitalist mentality and can afford the means to invest/own capital. Over the years there has been an increasing wealth gap between the top one percent earners and the general population. So why are the rich flourishing while the poor are struggling in this capitalist environment? The policy decisions of our country allow this inequality to permeate throughout our industries, thus creating a culture of power and greed. One result of this culture is the explosion of high salaries in the US and Emmanuel Saez explains this trend in Striking it Richer. Saez affirms, Indeed, estimates based purely on wages and salaries show that the share of total wage and salaries earned by the top 1 percent wage income earners has jumped from 5.1 percent in 1970 to 12.0 percent in 2006 (Grusky 89). Too bad that the 99 percent of America missed out on this massive economic growth spurt. When economic growth is not evenly distributed among the general population, people tend to question our entire system. • 20. The Evolution Of Political Philosophy And Political Science As centuries have passed, political thought has undergone constant development and together with its development are changes. These changes had a tremendous effect in the discipline. Political philosophy continued to progress which affected both political theory and political science. It seems that with the progression of political philosophy, there was a growing need for the the discipline to become more scientific. They wanted it to be based on facts, to become value free and to be precise. Political philosophystarted veering away from the classics. Despite the continuous need to be scientific, there were still groups which remained inclined to the classics and believed that the traditions and values are essential in studying the discipline. These conflicting views concerning the traditionalists and the behavioralists caused the gap between political philosophy and political scienceand eventually the two separated. So it seems that as political philosophy progress, political science branched outside the academe and political theory, as it grew larger became more and more alienated. Conspicuous Consumption in Sinclair Lewis Babbit Essay Conspicuous Consumption in Sinclair Lewis Babbit The idea of conspicuous consumption, or buying unnecessary items to show one s wealth, can be seen in Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis. Lewis describes the main character of the book, George F. Babbitt, as a person who has his values and priorities all mixed up. Babbitt buys the most expensive and modern material goods just to make himself happy and make people around his aware of his status. He is more concerned about these items than about his wife or children and to him, god was Modern Appliances (Lewis 5). Through Babbitt, Lewis is attempting to show how the average American person will do or buy anything, even if unnecessary, only to show off and make peers think ... But in Babbitt s house the towel rack was a rod of clear glass set in nickel (5). Even the tooth brush holder, shaving brush holder, soap dish...resembled an electrical instrument board (5). The Babbitt bedroom was full of things deemed valuable, like toilet articles of almost solid silver and mattresses which had cost a great deal of money (13 14). Their house had the latest conveniences such as three plugs for electric lamps and a dining room with its admirable oak buffet and leaded glass cupboard (14). Babbitt had everything at home and even the very best of water coolers, up to date, scientific, and right thinking (32) at the office. To him, having all of this was why his life was worth living. He would buy items of great monetary value, and in return, his social standing would rise. Lewis wants to show the reader that material possessions are not everything, and can lead one astray. Babbitt thought he had it all, a nice house, a nice car, all furnished with the latest objects. What Babbitt did not have, however, was a wife and children who cared for him and whom he loved with all his heart. His life had no direction and everything eventually came crashing down on him. • 33. Traditional Surrogacy And Gestational Surrogacy HOW Surrogacy is the arrangement of a birth of a child when the parents are not actually childbearing. This involves a legal agreement between the surrogate and parents, that puts the child under the care of the parents immediately after birth. The surrogate has no legal ties to the baby and formally renounces her rights as a parent to the child. There are many different types of surrogacy and ways in which one can do this procedure. Traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy are two of the most popular and well known forms of surrogacy. Traditional uses intrauterine insemination to implant the biological father s sperm into the egg of the surrogate. This procedure is typically used when the mother s eggs or father s sperm is no longer viable. Also, this procedure is less expensive and complex than in vitro fertilization. This procedure allows the father of the child to be the biological sperm donor, and feel possessive over his kin. Due to the genetic relation of the baby to the surrogate mother in this situation, the surrogate is often a relative or friend of the parents. This can make matters more complex if there is a disagreement during the pregnancy or after the baby is born. Although, this way the baby is still biologically related to the father and possibly the mother, if a family member becomes their surrogate. Teams that are below the average would bid in once process on the first X number of picks (X represents the number of below average teams), while the above average teams would bid in a second process on whichever of the first fourteen picks remain.
