HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
“ The System in which a Liquid is used as
a medium of ‘Transmission of Power’ is
known as Hydraulic System”.
Liquid: May be Water or Oil
TYPES OF HYDRAULIC DEVICES
 But here we Hydraulic LiftPress
 Hydraulic Accumulator
 Hydraulic Intensifier
 Hydraulic Crane
We will discuss only first two types here.
HYDRAULIC LIFT
“It is a Device which is used to lift Large Load by the
application of Small Force.”
Working Principle
Its working principle is based
on the Pascal’s Law.

Hydraulic Accumulator
“It is device to store Pressure Energy that can be
supplied to Machine.”
Description:
In its simplest form it consists of,
 Verticle Cylinder
 Moveable/Sliding Ram
 The Sliding Ram is loaded with
weight.
Capacity of Accumulator
When the water under pressure enters the
accumulator cylinder through the inlet valve, it
Lifts the loaded Ram until the cylinder is full of
water. At this stage, the Accumulator has stored
its maximum ammount of energy that is known
as
“Capacity Of
Accumulator(COA)”.
Capacity Of Accumulator(COA) cont...
Let,
A= Area of cylinder
H= Lift of the cylinder
p= Intensity of water pressure
Then,
C.O.A = pAH
