Infrared Basics
Thermal, or infrared energy, is light that is not visible because its wavelength is too long to be
detected by the human eye.
Infrared thermography cameras produce images of invisible infrared or "heat" radiation and
provide precise non-contact temperature measurement capabilities.

An infrared camera is a non-contact device that detects
infrared energy (heat) and converts it into an electronic
signal, which is then processed to produce a thermal
image on a video monitor and perform temperature
calculations.

•K40: 240 x 180 pixels
•K50: 320 x 240 pixels

• Image resolution: 240x180 or 320x240 pixels
• Detector: uncooled VOx micro bolometer, image frequency of 60Hz
• 4 inch LCD display.
• Operating temp. range: -20°C to +85°C / +260°C for 5 minutes
• Object temperature range: -20°C to +650°C (auto range)
• Li-Ion Batteries: 4 hours of operating time
• Start-up time: <25 seconds
• Start-up time from sleep mode: <4 seconds
• Interface: USB Mini-B for Data transfer

Robust & reliable
The K-series is designed to meet tough operating conditions. It withstands a drop from 2 meters on a concrete
floor, is water resistant (IP67) and fully operating up to +85 °C.
Clear and crisp thermal images
The maintenance free uncooled microbolometer sensor produces clear and detail rich images of 240 x 180
pixels (FLIR K40) or 320 x 240 pixels (FLIR K50). Thermal images are presented on a large bright 4” display
helping you navigate and make quick and accurate decisions.
Easy-to-use, also for a gloved fire fighters hand
An intuitive and simple user interface allows you to focus on the job at hand. The FLIR K-Series can be controlled
by 3 large buttons on top of the unit. Ideal for a gloved fire fighters hand.
Produce simple reports
Thermal images can be stored in the FLIR K-Series and later be used to produce simple reports of what
happened at the scene.

Traffic accidents etc.
Palette 5: Heat Detection Mode
• High Sensitivity 100-150 C°
• A gray scale palette with
colorization of 2% of the hottest
areas of the view.
• Used for searching hotspots.
Front Side: Trigger
• Short press: takes an image and saves
image to memory.
• Long press: Freezes the taken image, as
long as the trigger is pressed.
