We live on a planet with finite resources.
How much do you know about coal?
Coal comes from dead plants and dead animals
400 millions years ago.
People collect it by using machines to dig a hole
for surface mining. For underground mining they
build tunnels underground.
Once it has been gathered, the coal comes out of
the ground then it means that the plants dead and
makes coal and we change it to electricity by
putting it in the power plants and changing the
coal to electricity. And in our life we use many
forms of electricity such as, T.V, lights, air
conditioners and mac books.

How is coal collected & modified?
Coal is a black solid lumpy rock. It can make us electricity
with a power plant. It was made before people are on the
earth. It is combustible, which means that it can burn.
Before the dinosaurs, many giant plants died in swamps.
Over millions of years, the plants were buried under water
and dirt. Heat and pressure turned the dead plants into
coal. First the plants died and piled up at the bottom of
swamps. The dead plants got buried under water and
decayed, which means that they became rotten. Then, the
decayed plants were squashed under lots of sand and
mud, which heated up the plants. The coal we use today
comes from plants that live on earth the same time as
dinosaurs.

Why do we depend on the coal industry?
This is a very voluble resource because coal is a finite resource. We uses coal for electricity. We
put coal in the power plants to get electricity. We depend on this industry because we need very
much electricity in our life. Such as lights, TVs, mac books and air conditioners.
How could this resource be managed
better?
What is the impact of coal industry?
Coal is industry is not sustainable because coal is a finite resource
and it takes millions of years to let the earth make coal and lots of
people very depend on coal and even some people collect to make
money, to have a job.
This industry also harms the environment because we put coal in
the power plants to make electricity and the smoke that the power
plants goes to the sky and pollutes the air.
We could reduce our use of this resource by shutting down your
computer every time you finish. Close the light when nobody is
inside.
Alternatively, we could use wind energy, solar energy, water energy
instead of coal to make electricity.
