This digital portfolio was created by Fernanda Vázquez Díaz for her Advanced English 16 class from January to May 2014 under Professor Montse Comellas Ángeles. The portfolio contained slides presenting the content, Fernanda's course expectations, her best composition, a favorite quote, an inspiring person, her blogging experience, favorite activity, personal values, a video on changing a diaper, and questions for her final speech. Creating the digital portfolio allowed Fernanda to reflect on her work and see her improvement over the semester.

5 tips for new teachers from industry expertiseIftekhar Ahmed
Even though you may make some mistakes as a new teacher, it is a good idea to believe that it is possible to recover from these mistakes and become a better teacher. You still have a wonderful career ahead and mistakes should not hinder you from achieving your career goals. You should also believe in your students and expect them to be good students.
Your students should take care of each other and you should not tolerate bullying. Besides, your students need to know that you will hold them to high standards of academic standards and behavior. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

3. Presentation
The purpose of the digital portfolio is to present evidences about all the
activities that we made during the semester. Even there are many
documents to upload it will be easy because we already have the e-
portfolio which is the same but it is on line. When you create a digital
portfolio you can see your improvement trough the course and you can
use it as a kind of rubric that can show you how far you are from your
goal. Create a digital portfolio is a little time consuming, but I like it
because I can remember things that I leaned in class.
4. My course expectations
Reflection
Even I don´t have an excellent grade, I think that I
really improve my level. I think is because I always
arrived to the class and I always hang up all the
activities that the teacher required.
I am on time to increase my note during this week by
making all the activities. Even I am about to pass,
because I have my 31 points of the exam, I want to
continue being responsible because I still have points to
reach
5. My best composition
Reflection
I choose this composition because in this one I only have very
few grammar mistakes. It is also because I was really inspired
when I did it and I almost have all the points of the rubric, I
think is because we did it step by step so I could better
identify the parts of a composition.
6. My favourite quote
Reflection
I could see the different ways of thinking of my classmates
and even their opinions are valid I differ with some. For me
Brenda´s quote is the best because I think the time is the
most important factor for all, and if you can organize your
activities, you can do all what you really want.
7. An inspiring person
• Reflection
I learned to express my feelings and my emotions in English,
and now I know this is the best way to remember things. It
felt good to show my experience and my way of thinking. I
think it‘ is the best way to meet and make real friends.
8. My blogging experience
Reflection
This kind of web pages can make the class more dynamic and even
more fun. These are useful tools to facilitate the learning of English
because you can remember and make use of an extensive
vocabulary. You also can improve by using short dialogues because
you can be more specific about what you want to say.
9. My favourite activity
Reflection
The teacher asked this activity because I think she wanted to know
which was the composition that we liked the most do. She made us
reflect about our work throughout the semester. For her this is the
best way to see our performance as English students. I had never
compared my work during the semester but now I see that I really
improved.
10. My personal values
Reflection
The teacher asked this activity because I think it is important that
each person knows what are the most important values in order to
practice them. With this activity we can learn vocabulary, and it
also makes the class more dynamic.
I had never thought about what were the main values for my, but
now I know how important they are.
11. My second partial video experience
Link: http://youtu.be/5P5_iZyNC3A
My tutorial video is about how to change a baby's diaper correctly. Changing your baby’s diapers is
a difficult task, especially if you have never been around babies before, therefore I tried to
explain some tips that have helped me a lot.
After all these months, I have become an expert on changing my baby's diaper. What makes it more
difficult is that every time my baby is more restless. Also, as I mentioned in the video, he tends to
pee when I take off (remove) his diaper, but in general I think that I did it well. At the beginning of
the video I felt nervous but after I felt much more confident. Although I brought back (memorized)
a draft for the video, it was hard to keep in mind (remember) everything that I wanted to say so I
tried to do it in a natural way.
Now I feel happy because my baby could help me with my oral exam. I hope this tutorial video can
really serve someone of my classmates. I hope that after watching the video they fell up to(be
able) changing a diaper. Even if they are not parents I think it is always necessary to know how to
change a diaper.
12. Questions to be included in my final
speech
Link: http://youtu.be/GRikITk3LZc
Reflection
I always do some drafts before submitting the a final work,
so this activity served me as a draft. Sometimes it is
difficult to follow a format however you need to have clear
ideas about what you are going to expose. I think the
teacher asked this activity as a guide to record the video
and also to show what we learned without rambling.
