This poster features a close up of the main
character. By looking at this poster we can
immediately see that it is in black and white
apart from a few parts on it. The fact that the
moth is in colour suggests it very significant in
the film. Looking closer it becomes clear that
the moth has a skull on its head, although it is
quite small it is still very noticeable. This
introduces a theme of death and gives the
audience an idea of what the film may be
about. The fact that her eyes are red has devil
like connotations and suggests there is evil in
the film. The title of the film is also in colour so
that it stands out and people can clearly see
the name of the film but it is not so big that it
overpowers the picture in the background. The
poster also contains the names of some of the
main characters in the film above the title. This
is necessary as people might make a decision
whether to watch a film or not solely based on
the actors in it.
Film promotion
There are different ways in which films are promoted within the film industry. This could be through
trailers, paid advertisements in newspapers or magazines, posters etc. I have decided to make a
poster for my film in order to gain a better understanding of what advertising a film is like.

The Purge: Anarchy poster
This poster is different to the first one as it
does not feature any characters on it.
Instead we see a very familiar image of the
flag of the United States of America with a
twist. The flag is turn sideways which makes
the red lines look like blood stains on a wall.
However, as we look closer we are able to
see that these lines are made up of weapons
such as guns knives and grenades. This
brings up the theme of crime and gives the
audience a clear idea of what they film is
about. The title of the film is in capital letters
with white text in front of a blue
background. This makes it very visible to a
viewer which is important as people must be
able to remember the name of the film.
Finally this poster includes a release date of
the film which is necessary as people new to
know when the film will come out in
cinemas so that if they have are interested
they can watch it.
