My media product is the introduction to a fiction film, so a movie production company would distribute it. The production company is responsible for all aspects of filmmaking from development through completion. They hire key staff like the director and actors, oversee the budget, and present the final cut. Well-known production companies include [none listed]. What does a Film Distributor do?A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for releasing films to the public either theatrically or for home viewing (DVD, Video-On-Demand, Download, Television etc). It is often referred to as 'the invisible art‘. The distribution process is known only to those within the industry, it’s barely written about and almost hardly noticeable to everyone else. Yet arguably, distribution is the most important part of the film industry, where completed films are brought to life and connected with an audience. Distribution is about releasing and sustaining films in the market place. In the UK, distribution is very much focused on marketing and sustaining a global product in local markets.
