Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

1. INT. STUDENT HOUSE - ROSS'S BEDROOM - MORNING
ROSS wakes up to the sound of his ALARM in order to get ready for his job Interview.
Though he is unwilling to wake up. ROSS ignores his alarm and throws it away in order to
shut it up.
ROSS
(Roughly Moans)
Oh shut up.
ROSS gets up and sits on the side of the bed as he thinks to himself. He opens his blinds and
looks outside.
ROSS
(Sighs)
Today is the day, If I'm going to do this then I'm going to do it right.
ROSS stands up and walks towards his wardrobe, he opens the wardrobe as he prepares
clothes ready for his interview. He picks up the clothes he has chosen and places them on his
chair ready. After this, he leaves the room in preparation for his shower.
Fade to black
2. INT. STUDENT HOUSE - ROSS'S BEDROOM - MORNING
Time passes by during ROSS'S shower, he re-enters the room after the shower where he gets
changed in preparation for his interview.
Cut to:
3. INT. STUDENT HOUSE - UPSTAIRS - MORNING
ROSS leaves the room to go and brush his teeth and on the way he runs into ADAM who is
another student who is an occupant of the house.
ADAM
Oh hey, Good Morning
2. ROSS
Morning, you up to anything today?
ADAM
Not really no, probably going to spend today studying or something.
ROSS
Right, I'm getting ready for an interview so I'll talk to you later
ADAM
Alright, you want anything while I'm downstairs?
ROSS
Uh sure yeah, cereal please?
ADAM
Yeah sure no problem.
ADAM leaves by walking downstairs and ROSS KNOCKS on the door to check encase
someone is in the bathroom, since no one responds he opens the door.
CUT TO:
4. int. student house - bathroom - morning
ROSS enters the bathroom with a grin on his face as he smiles with happiness, though when
he walks towards the mirror and sighs with feelings anxiousness and tension due to the
interview. He runs the tap and allows the water to flow as he starts to think to himself.
ROSS
(Sighs)
I am so not ready for this, it's not something I want to mess up. If I mess this interview up
then I'm going to struggle to afford food at uni, it's not like I can ask my parents for money
since they're gone.
He splashes water on his faces as he starts to wash his face, he takes another sigh and starts to
brush his teeth, he turns the tap off and dries his face and walks out.
cut to:
5. InT - STUDENT HOUSE - stairway - MORNING
3. ROSS walks down stairs with his shirt, tie and pants on as he goes to get breakfast. Though
as ROSS walks downstairs, he shakes and almost blacks out which almost results in him
falling downstairs, though he recovers before the fall.
cut to:
6. INT - STUDENT HOUSE - DINING ROOM - MORNING
As ROSS reaches the ending of the stairs, he appears distressed from the previous experience.
ROSS walks away trying to forget about what just happened and see's ADAM.
ADAM
(Questionable)
You Okay? You looked disturbed
ROSS
(Distressed)
Uh.. Yeah.. I think so, I don't know what just happened
ADAM
Right.
ADAM walks out with ROSS to question what just happens, he starts to think if he is okay
with what just happened, this is where he starts to question to himself if he is feeling right.
ROSS
(Light-Headed)
I think I need to sit down for a second.
ROSS sits down as he attempts to calm himself down.
ROSS
(Light-Headed)
Actually, outside might be better.
fade to:
7. EXT - STUDENT HOUSE - Garden - MORNING
ROSS leaves the house to get some fresh air, though as he walks out side he starts
questioning himself about unfamiliar surroundings.
4. ROSS
(PUZZLED)
Wait.... What? I swear the garden was not this empty? Adam?
ROSS shouts to ADAM but receives no response, he re-enters the house in order to make
contact with ADAM.
cut TO:
8. int - student house - dining ROOM - morning
ROSS re-enters the house, he looks around to see if ADAM is in sight but yet again receives
no response.
ROSS
(Shouts)
Adam?
As he receives no response, he leaves the dining room and enters into the kitchen.
Fade to:
9. INT - STUDENT HOUSE - KITCHEN - MORNING
ROSS feels distressed, with the recent events that have been going around. In order to calm
himself down, he gets a glass of water. However, due to the shaking he can only take slow
drinks.
cut to:
10. EXT - Student house - GARDEN - morning
ROSS enters the scene appearing light-headed, he sits down to try calm himself down as he
appears uneasy.
ROSS
(Sighs)
ROSS gets up and rubs his face with feelings of distress and
cut to:
11. Int - student house - DINING ROOM - morning
5. ROSS enters the scene with the look on confusion as he realizes the disappearance of
furniture in the room, he enters the scene noticing only a single wooden chair in the room. As
he enters, his face drops in shock and lets go of his glass of water which SMASHES on the
ground.
ROSS
(Distressed)
What the hell is going on?
ROSS starts walking round the room in confusion, he raises one arm in order to check
whether not if he is shaking, which he is.
fade to:
12. INT - STUDENT HOUSE - kitchen & dining room
ROSS looks behind him towards the kitchen and sees ADAM standing there motionless.
ROSS
Adam? What is going on?
ADAM looks towards ROSS, while still appearing both motionless and expressionless.
ROSS blinks and in the next scene ADAM disappears leaving ROSS by himself, as the
camera slowly tracks out revealing the change in scene, changing from a student house to an
abandoned house.
