Two teenage friends, Steven and David, are haunted by the ghost of their friend Alan who was killed as a joke. It is revealed that one friend killed Alan on purpose for revenge. The killer then turns on the other friend, but the ghost becomes an ally to the innocent friend. 2. Outline of Synopsis Two teenage friends, Steven and David, are haunted by their past when a paranormal force begins to remind them of the fate of an friend of theirs, Alan. Who was tragically killed when they played a joke on him, the two friends start to feel more and more guilty about what happened to their friend. It turns out one of them killed him on purpose as an act of revenge and this secret is unveiled later in the narrative then the killer turns on his other friend and the “ghost” becomes an ally for the innocent friend

3. Trailer The trailer will start with a collection of photos of the 3 friends together having fun. This is to show the audience that these 3 teenagers were close then the jump cut to the night of the death. Then there will be a few pieces of slow paced editing showing shots of them coming into contact with the ghost, a jumpy moment will be included. Then there will be a hint of a twist before the conventional “coming soon” comes up on the screen.

4. Techniques We are going to be producing a horror film which still uses time-old conventions but uses very modern plots and camera techniques. The approach that we are going for is a blend between the ‘shaky camera’ style, and the more classic camera style, with continuity editing and more advanced camera shots (for example Two Shot, Over The Shoulder Shot etc) The trailer will make this clear to the audience, that the film does not just focus on one style, but it will be so cleverly edited that certain clips will take the audience by surprise like a jump cut for example

5. Audience and Purpose The films target audience will be British middle class teenage males aged 15-21. (The certificate will be 15 to correspond with this target audience). This is because all the members of the group put themselves in this bracket and so we are targeting this niche audience as we understand and know it well, it is also an age group strongly associated with horrors. Obviously the film will be trying to snare the biggest possible audience so viewers may come from all sorts of social and ethnic backgrounds as well as being female. The purpose of the film will be like any other horror will be to incite fear with the plot running alongside the images (jumpy moments). So the trailer will be exactly the same just a concentrated version designed to make the film seem very scary which will attract fans of the genre.
