The document proposes fault diagnosis schemes for variants of the Midori lightweight block cipher to improve security. Fault diagnosis schemes are proposed for the nonlinear S-box layer and round structures of 64-bit and 128-bit Midori. The schemes are implemented on an FPGA and fault injection simulations show they provide high error coverage. The proposed error detection architectures make Midori implementations more reliable while maintaining low area, power and latency.
