This document proposes a new statistical framework for modeling and evaluating anonymity in sensor networks. It introduces the concept of "interval indistinguishability" to quantitatively measure anonymity. It also maps the source anonymity problem to the statistical problem of binary hypothesis testing with nuisance parameters. This transforms the problem from analyzing real-valued data to binary codes, allowing coding theory to be applied. Existing solutions can be modified using this framework to improve their level of anonymity.

As network traffic increases and new intrusions occur, anomaly detection solutions based on machine learning are necessary to detect previously unknown intrusion patterns. Most of the developed models require a labelled dataset, which can be challenging owing to a shortage of publicly available datasets. These datasets are often too small to effectively train machine learning models, which further motivates the use of real unlabeled traffic. By using real traffic, it is possible to more accurately simulate the types of anomalies that might occur in a real-world network and improve the performance of the detection model. We present a method able to predict and categorize anomalies without the aid of a labelled dataset, demonstrating the model’s usability while also gathering a dataset from real noisy network traffic. The proposed long short-term memory (LTSM) based intrusion detection system was tested in a real-world setting of an antivirus company and was successful in detecting various intrusions using 5-minute windowing over both the predicted and real update curves thereby demonstrating its usefulness. Our contribution was the development of a robust model generally applicable to any hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) traffic with almost real-time anomaly detection, while also outperforming earlier studies in terms of prediction accuracy.

We are sending data from source node to destination using wireless sensor networks (WSNs), In wireless sensor networks, it is a typical threat to source privacy that an attacker performs back tracing strategy to locate source nodes by analyzing transmission paths. So there is lot of chances to lose data and information theft by network hackers. Network hackers performs eves dropping, sniffers attack, Denial of service attack. These types of attacks are achieved by negative commands generated by intermediate server maintained by hackers. With the popularity of the Internet of Things (IoTs) in recent years, source privacy protection has attracted a lot of attentions. However, they fail to get the tradeoff between multi-path transmission and transmission cost. In this project, we propose a Constrained Random Routing (CRR) mechanism and Greedy techniques, which can constantly change routing next-hop instead of a relative fixed route so that attackers cannot analyze routing and trace back to source nodes. At first we designed the randomized architecture for each sensor nodes. Then calculate the coordinates and weights of node, Finally, the selected weights help to decide which node will become the next hop. In this way, attackers would be confused by the constantly changing paths. The simulation results prove that our proposal can achieve high routing efficiency in multi-path transmission. COMPARISON BETWEEN DIVERGENCE MEASURES FOR ANOMALY DETECTION OF MOBILE AGENTS...ijwmn
This paper deals with detection of SYN flooding attacks which are the most common type of attacks in a Mobile Agent World. We propose a new framework for the detection of flooding attacks by integrating Divergence measures over Sketch data structure. We compare three divergence measures (Hellinger Distance, Chi-square and Power divergence) to analyze their detection accuracy. The performance of the proposed framework is investigated in terms of detection probability and false alarm ratio. We focus on
tuning the parameter of Divergence Measures to optimize the performance. We conduct performance analysis over publicly available real IP traces, in Mobile Agent Network, integrated with flooding attacks. Our experimental results show that Power Divergence outperforms Chi-square divergence and Hellinger
distance in network anomalies detection in terms of detection and false alarm.

Toward a statistical framework for source anonymity in sensor networks
1. TOWARD A STATISTICAL FRAMEWORK FOR SOURCE
ANONYMITY IN SENSOR NETWORKS
ABSTRACT:
In certain applications, the locations of events reported by a sensor network need to remain
anonymous. That is, unauthorized observers must be unable to detect the origin of such events by
analyzing the network traffic. Known as the source anonymity problem, this problem has
emerged as an important topic in the security of wireless sensor networks, with variety of
techniques based on different adversarial assumptions being proposed.
In this work, we present a new framework for modeling, analyzing, and evaluating anonymity in
sensor networks. The novelty of the proposed framework is twofold: first, it introduces the
notion of "interval indistinguishability” and provides a quantitative measure to model anonymity
in wireless sensor networks; second, it maps source anonymity to the statistical problem of
binary hypothesis testing with nuisance parameters. We then analyze existing solutions for
designing anonymous sensor networks using the proposed model.
We show how mapping source anonymity to binary hypothesis testing with nuisance parameters
leads to converting the problem of exposing private source information into searching for an
appropriate data transformation that removes or minimize the effect of the nuisance information.
By doing so, we transform the problem from analyzing real-valued sample points to binary
codes, which opens the door for coding theory to be incorporated into the study of anonymous
sensor networks. Finally, we discuss how existing solutions can be modified to improve their
anonymity.
