What it is to be professional
Keeping in mind the first London Fashion week began 30 years ago, the industry over this short time span has become 
increasingly more desirable to be a part of. With thousands of graduates each year searching for their dream, it now takes 
more than a white smile and triumph organisational skills to grasp the attention of those who are willing to give you a job in 
this cut throat industry.
Qualifications Degree? 
• For young creatives a degree is no longer 
necessary, however it gives a platform for trial 
and error, without the worry of being fired from 
a job. 
• Skills can be refined to allow an individual to 
obtain a unique and recognisable style of 
working. 
• Start working with a wide spread of contacts 
made through the course. 
• Even if the degree is not right for an individual 
by the end it shows an employer commitment 
and the ability to be flexible and creative in 
other areas of work. 
Work experience 
• Work experience shows an employer evidence 
of resilience and commitment to jobs that may 
not be your first choice. 
• Collecting experience from a widespread of 
areas allows you not only to have a better 
understanding of your job but everyone else's 
part they play in the project.

  • 2. Keeping in mind the first London Fashion week began 30 years ago, the industry over this short time span has become increasingly more desirable to be a part of. With thousands of graduates each year searching for their dream, it now takes more than a white smile and triumph organisational skills to grasp the attention of those who are willing to give you a job in this cut throat industry.
  • 3. Qualifications Degree? • For young creatives a degree is no longer necessary, however it gives a platform for trial and error, without the worry of being fired from a job. • Skills can be refined to allow an individual to obtain a unique and recognisable style of working. • Start working with a wide spread of contacts made through the course. • Even if the degree is not right for an individual by the end it shows an employer commitment and the ability to be flexible and creative in other areas of work. Work experience • Work experience shows an employer evidence of resilience and commitment to jobs that may not be your first choice. • Collecting experience from a widespread of areas allows you not only to have a better understanding of your job but everyone else's part they play in the project.
  • 4. Attributes Team Work, Approachability, Personality Recognising your strengths and weaknesses Knowing when to ask for help. It is key to network and meet people that will work well with you and the skills you inhibit. The creative industry is always looking for the new and exciting – essential to be exciting and interesting to be Dressing for the job around.
