Main area of activity:
I will be working mostly in photography as I am doing a magazine cover, so I will be taking photos
for the front cover, contents page, two double page spreads, and two single page adverts.
Rationale:
I have made a magazine cover this year in my adventure project, and that was the section of that
project that enjoyed the most. I have learnt how to layout a magazine properly on photoshop by
doing the photoshop experiments in my research. I will use this to create all the parts of my
magazine, so they look professional as possible. My previous experience with magazines was in
secondary school as I did a few for my coursework, and for my adventure project this year so it is
the section I have the most experience in, which is why I am the most confident doing this.
Project Concept:
For my project I am going to make multiple pages of a magazine including a cover, contents page,
two double page spreads and one single page article.
I want my magazine to give my generation a feel of what it would be like in the 1990s through the
photos, articles and the advertisements. I also want my products to make people who lived through
the 90s in the Uk and experienced the rave scene specially to read it and feel like they have been
taken back to that decade,
I am going to research various products from the 1990s, especially fashion and rave magazines to
get a better idea of what life/culture/fashion was like since I was not there to experience it. I will do
vigorous research to get the best possible idea of how to make my products the best they can be.
This will help my project by giving me a better idea on what rave fashion was like in the 90s, and
my research will also give me a good insight to the culture at the time because in my articles I will
right about current problems that would occur in the 90s.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
The project will be evaluated through the reflection journals at the end of every week/day and my
final self-reflection, which will be the main one as it will show me what I need to improve on for
next year; constant analysis of my work will be used as well.
