Cerium substituted Nickel ferrite nanoparticles with general formula NiCeXFe2-XO4 (x=0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15) have been synthesized by using sol-gel method. The crystalline structure and grain size of these particles were analyzed by using XRD; the particle size ranged from 12.22nm to 17.60nm.The decrease in value of the lattice parameter with doping suggests that there is shrinkage in unit cell. The single-phase cubic spinal structure was clearly indicated by the XRD patterns of pure NiFe2O4.The XRD pattern also show that all the samples had formed the cubic single phase spinal structure. Dielectric properties have been studied in the frequency range of 1 kHz to 5 MHz. Permittivity and tangent loss (tanδ) decreases with the substitution of Ce3+ in parent crystal structure.

Formation and Characterization of Mixed Crystals Based on Bis (Thiourea)Cadmi...IJERA Editor
Bis(thiourea)cadmium chloride(BTCC) and bis(thiourea)cadmium iodide (BTCI) are metal complexes of thiourea having better nonlinear optical properties than KH2PO4. An attempt has been made in the present study to form mixed crystals based on BTCC and BTCI (even though their crystal lattices mismatch) from aqueous solutions, the precursors mixed in proper proportions. A total of seven (including the end members) crystals were formed by the free evaporation method and characterized chemically, structurally, thermally, optically and electrically. The X-ray diffraction measurements indicate that (BTCC)X(BTCI)1-X crystals with x=1.0,0.8 and 0.6 are orthorhombic in structure with space group Pmn21 and that with x=0.5, 0.4, 0.2 and 0.0 are monoclinic in structure with space group P21/c. All the grown crystals are found to be thermally stable up to 215 °C and possessing wide optical transmission window (300-900 nm) which is suitable for NLO applications. The electrical measurements indicate that the grown crystals exhibit a normal dielectric behavior. The results obtained in the present study indicate that mixed crystals can be formed from the isomorphous precursors directly even though the end member’s crystals have lattice mismatching.

Abstract
In this work, nanostructured TiO2 thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique on glass substrates. TiO2 thin films then were annealed at 400-600 °C in air for a period of 2 hours. Effect of annealing on the structural and morphological were studied. Many growth parameters have been considered to specify the optimum conditions, namely substrate temperature (300 °C), oxygen pressure (10-2 Torr), laser fluence energy density (0.4 J/cm2), using double frequency Q-switching Nd:YAG laser beam (wavelength 532nm), repetition rate (1-6 Hz) and the pulse duration of 10 ns. The results of the X-ray test show that all nanostructures tetragonal are polycrystalline. These results show that grain size increase from 19.5 nm to 29.5 with the increase of annealing temperature. The XRD results also reveal that the deposited thin film, annealed at 400 °C of TiO2 have anatase phase. Thin films annealed at 500 °C and 600 °C have mixed anatase and rutile phases. Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) values of the (101) peaks of these films decrease from 0.450° to 0.301° with the increase of annealing temperature. Surface morphology of the thin films have been studied by using atomic force microscopes (AFM). AFM measurements confirmed that the films have good crystalline and homogeneous surface. The Root Mean Square (RMS) value of thin films surface roughness are increased with the increase of annealing temperature.

K2O - CdO - B2O3 – SiO2glasses containing different concentrations of MnO2 have been prepared. The Physical properties of the glasses are studied from their density. The studies have been analysed in the light of different oxidation states of manganese ion with the aid of the data from optical absorption. The analysis shows that manganese ions exist mainly in Mn2+ state, occupy tetrahedral positions and increase the insulating strength of the glass if MnO2 is present in smaller concentrations.

synthesized by sol-gel auto combustion technique and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD),
Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) for morphological behaviour with electrical
characteristics using Impedance Analyzer. XRD results confirmed the formation of a single phase
M-type hexagonal unit cell of space group P63/mmc. The increase in Ni-Ir concentration increases
the lattice parameter. TEM analysis of the sample demonstrates the formation of nano-size particles
which decreases with substitution. In this paper we reported the variation of dielectric constant,
dielectric loss, tangent loss, conductivity and magnetic behaviour with composition with temperature
and frequency analysis of the sample. The migration of Fe3+ ion from octahedral to tetrahedral site
decreases the dielectric constant with increase in Ni-Ir concentration. Activation energies were
found similar with calculated at ferromagnetic and paramagnetic region. The material study we
confined that the activation energy in the paramagnetic region is higher than that in the
ferromagnetic region. The enhanced resistivity of Ni-Ir substituted strontium hexaferrites is a
prospective application in high frequency and in microwave devices development.

Dielectric behaviour of Ni+2 substituted Cu Co Nanocrystalline Spinel Ferrite...inventionjournals
Herein, the dielectric properties such as permittivity (real part ε’ and imaginary part ε”) and dielectric loss tangent (tan δ) are reported for the series [Nix Cu(constant) Co0.8-x Fe2O4] where constant=0.2 with x=0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 of ferrites, prepared by Sol-Gel auto-combustion technique by using high purity metal nitrate and citric acid as a catalyst. The variation in the real part (ε’) of dielectric constant , imaginary part ( ε”) of dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent (tan δ) are studied at room temperature in the frequency range of 100 Hz to 5 MHz. Structural characterization of the annealed samples was done with the help of X-ray diffraction method. The particle size and single phase formation of NiCuCoFe2O4 ferrite was confirmed by Xray diffraction analysis and TEM. The particle size of prepared sample was confirmed by Scherer’s formula. The effect on Particle size (t) and lattice constant (Å) is observed due to substitution of Ni2+ in Cu Co. The digital LCR meter is used to obtain the magnetic properties of prepared pallets. The variations in the structural and dielectric properties of the prepared ferrite material are discussed.

Abstract Fe2O3 nanoparticles have been prepared by a simple solvothermal method using a domestic microwave oven. X-ray powder diffraction measurement indicates the amorphous nature of the as-prepared sample. Calcined samples were obtained by annealing the as-prepared sample at different temperatures, viz. 400, 500, 600 and 700oC. Transmission electron microscopic images indicate that all the five samples are spherical in shape. AC electrical measurements were carried out on pelletized samples by the parallel plate capacitor method at various temperatures ranging from 40-130oC and frequencies ranging from 100 Hz -1 MHz. Results indicate low AC electrical conductivities and consequently show the occurrence of nano confined states. The exciton Bohr radii obtained from the dielectric constant values at 40oC temperature and 1 kHz frequency are 41.8, 54.8, 55.3, 56.3 and 27.0 respectively for the as-prepared sample and samples calcined at 400, 500, 600 and 700oC which indicate a strong quantum confinement effect. The impedance spectra observed exhibit non-ideal behavior. Keywords: Semiconductors, Magnetic materials, Nanoparticles, Electrical properties

Cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4), an inverse spinal ferrite has high permeability, good saturation 1magnetization and no preferred direction of magnetization, high Curie temperature, and high electromagnetic performance. In the present work 0.2M cobalt nitrate 0.3M ferric nitrate and 0.4 M citric acid is used to synthesis cobalt ferrite nanoparticle by sol-gel technique. As the magnetic property depends on the grain size of the synthesized nanoparticle, metal nitrate to citric acid ratio is varied from 0.8, 0.6 and 0.4 and the structural, functional morphological and magnetic characteristics are analyzed. The structural analysis shows the decrease in the average crystallite from 37 to 27nm when CAMN ratio decreases from 0.8 to 0.4. The strain is directly proportional to dislocation density and it reflects the growth of the average grain size, and in the present study, it reflects the same. The calculated lattice parameter is found to be close to 8.373 Ã… and the volume of the cell is found to be 5.63x10-28 m is close to the standard value for the cobalt ferrite nanoparticles. From the EDS spectrum, the presence of Co, Fe, and O in the synthesized nanoparticles are noted. Functional groups analysis by FTIR shows the presence of organic sources. Surface morphology by Scanning electron microscope shows the distribution of spherical sized nanoparticles agglomerated in different sizes and the grain size calculated by image J software are close to the calculated value by Scherrer formula from XRD. A Lanthanum (La 3+ ) doped Samarium-Cobalt nanoferrites (La_x,Co_0.2,Sm_0.2,Fe_(2-x) O_4, where x=0.0,0.5,1.0) have been synthesized by sol-gel method in citrate media. Obtained spinal ferrites micro structure properties have been investigated by XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDX, and TEM-SAED techniques. All the samples are nano in size with significant hysteresis. Micro structural analysis by XRD confirms the obtained samples showing the single phase cubic spinal structures with an average crystal size found from 12 nm to 25 nm, while the average particles sizes identified from TEM analysis are ranging from 21.5nm-26.8 nm (~23.4nm) and from 20.5 nm to 28(~26.4nm) nm for x=0.5,1.0. The lattice parameter found to be a= 8.402, 8.423, 8.467Å for the respective values of x= 0.0, 0.05, and 1.0. Electrical properties show increase in dc resistivity with increase in La ion concentration. Finally, it was concluded that the doping of Lanthanum ion (La 3+ ) in the ferrites structure is found to influencing the structural and electrical properties without scarifying the ferromagnetic character.
A facile method to prepare CdO-Mn3O4 nanocompositeIOSR Journals
CdO-Mn3O4 nanocomposite has been prepared by a simple solvothermal method using a domestic microwave oven. Cadmium acetate, manganese acetate and urea were used as the precursors and ethylene glycol as the solvent. The as-prepared sample was annealed for 1 hour in each case at different temperatures, viz. 100, 200 and 300°C. The as-prepared and annealed samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopic analyses. Results indicate that annealing at 300°C is required to get the sample with high phase purity and homogeneity. The present study indicates that the method adopted can be considered as an economical and scalable one to prepare the proposed nanocomposite with reduced size, phase purity and homogeneity.

Cubic structured nickel-zinc ferrite nanoparticles (Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4) have been synthesized by thermal treatment method. This simple procedure employed an aqueous solution containing only metal nitrates as precursors, polyvinyl pyrrolidone as a capping agent, and deionized water as a solvent. The solution was thoroughly stirred for 2 hour, dried at 353 K for 3 hour, the dried material crushed into powder and calcined the powder at 873 K to remove organic substances and crystallize the particles. The microstructure properties of the prepared ferrite nanoparticles were measured using FTIR, XRD, TEM, and EDX and the magnetic properties were determined using VSM and EPR. The average particle size increased from 7 to 22 nm with the increase of calcination temperature from 723 to 873 K. The saturation magnetization, coercivity field, and g-factor increased respectively from 24 emu/g, 11 G, and 2.0673at 723 K to 38 emu/g, 60 G, and 2.1227 at 873 K. This method offers simplicity, a low cost, and an environmentally friendly operation since it produces no by-product effluents.

Cerium substituted Nickel ferrite nanoparticles with general formula NiCeXFe2-XO4 (x=0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15) have
been synthesized by using sol-gel method. The crystalline structure and grain size of these particles were
analyzed by using XRD; the particle size ranged from 12.22nm to 17.60nm.The decrease in value of the lattice
parameter with doping suggests that there is shrinkage in unit cell. The single-phase cubic spinal structure was
clearly indicated by the XRD patterns of pure NiFe2O4.The XRD pattern also show that all the samples had
formed the cubic single phase spinal structure. Dielectric properties have been studied in the frequency range
of 1 kHz to 5 MHz. Permittivity and tangent loss (tanδ) decreases with the substitution of Ce3+
in parent crystal
structure.

I. INTRODUCTION
In the recent years, so much attention has been paid to the nanomagnetic materials that show very
interesting magnetic properties. In this material, different properties and applications are appeared as compared
to their bulk counterparts. The magnetic properties of nanomaterials are used in medical, electronic, and
recording industries that depend on the size, shape, purity and magnetic stability of these materials. In
biomedical application, one can use nano magnetic materials as drug carriers inside body where the
conventional drug may not work. For this purpose, the nanosize particles should be in the super paramagnetic
form with a low blocking temperature. Ferrite nanomaterials are object of intense research because of their
proper magnetic properties. It has been reported that when the size of particles reduced to small size or in range
of nanomaterials, some of their fundamental properties are affected. nano ferrites are simultaneously good
magnetic and dielectric materials. These properties of the nano ferrites are affected by the preparation
conditions, chemical composition, sintering temperature and the method of preparation . Several chemical and
physical methods such as spray pyrolysis, sol-gel, co-precipitation, combustion technique, high energy milling
etc. have been used for the fabrication of stoichiometric and chemically pure nano ferrite materials. Among the
available chemical methods, the sol-gel technique is an excellent method to synthesize rare earth substituted
nanoparticles with maximum purity. In spite of the development of a variety of synthesis routes, the production
of nickel ferrite nanoparticles with desirable size and magnetic properties is still a challenge. This would justify
any effort to produce size tuned nickel ferrite nanoparticles with rare earth substitution. In the present paper, the
structural and magnetic properties of cerium substituted nickel ferrite and XRD and dielectrical properties were
investigated.
II. EXPERIMENTAL
2.1. Synthesis : Nano particles of cerium substituted nickel ferrite were synthesized by the sol-gel combustion
method. A stoichiometric ratio of NiFe2-xCexO4 (x=0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15) were dissolved in ethylene glycol using
a magnetic stirrer. The five sample solutions was then heated at 60 °C for 2 hours until a wet gel of the metal
nitrates was obtained. The gel was then dried at 120 ° C. This resulted in the self ignition of the gel producing a
highly voluminous and fluffy product. The combustion can be considered as a thermally induced redox reaction
of the gel wherein ethylene glycol acts as the reducing agent and the nitrate ion acts as an oxidant. The nitrate
ion provides an oxidizing environment for the decomposition of the organic component. The obtained powder of
different samples (x=0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15) was ground well collected in different packets for the measurements.
2.2. Characterization : The cerium doped nickel ferrite samples were characterized by an X-ray powder
diffract meter (XRD, Bruker AXS D8 Advance) using radiation (wavelength= 1.5406 A° ) at 40 kV and 35 mA.
Lattice parameter was calculated. The crystal structure, crystallite size and X-ray density were determined.
Electrical studies conducted using RF material analyzer (AGILENT E4991A)

III. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
3.1. Structural Analysis
Fig.1. XRD patterns of NiFe2-xCexO4 (x=0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15)
The XRD patterns of NiFe2-xCexO4 nanoparticles(x=0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15) are depicted in Fig.1 and are
typical of spinel structure. Comparing the XRD pattern with the standard data, the sample with cerium
concentration zero shows highest peak and concentration 0.15 shows lowest. The diffraction peaks are broad
because of the nanometer size of the crystallite. The crystallite size ‘D’ of the samples has been estimated from
the broadening of XRD peaks using the Scherrer equation.
3. Structural And Dielectric Studies …
www.theijes.com The IJES Page 35
Lattice parameter ‘a’ for all the samples has been calculated by interplanar spacing
(dhkl) and 2-theta values using the standard relation,
Table.1.Structural Parameters of NiCeXFe2-XO4 system
Value of lattice constant for x=0.0 comes out to be 8.331Å, well in agreement with reported value. The
decrease in value of the lattice parameter with doping suggests that there is shrinkage in unit cell. The single-
phase cubic spinal structure was clearly indicated by the XRD patterns of pure NiFe2O4.The XRD pattern also
show that all the samples had formed the cubic single phase spinal structure
3.2.Dielectric study : Dielectric behavior of nano spinel ferrites mainly depends upon the nature and
distribution of metal cations on A-sites and B-sites in the spinel lattice. Spinel nickel ferrites are considered
good dielectric materials and the high frequency dielectric behavior is mainly dependent upon the particle
size and method of synthesis of nano particles. Different studies have been provided relating the
dielectricparameters of Ce3+
doped ferrites. Dielectric parameters (relative permittivity, dielectric loss
tangent) for the prepared series of NiCexFe2-xO4 (x=0.0 to x=0.15) have been studied in the frequency range
1 MHz to 1GHz at room temperature. Figs.2 shows the variation of relative permittivity with frequency at
room temperature. It can be observed from the figure that relative permittivity for all the samples decreases
with increase in frequency and ultimately becomes constant at higher frequencies. This decrease in
permittivity is more rapid in the low frequency region and becomes sluggish as the applied frequency
increases. This behaviour is subjected to dielectric polarization under the application of AC field.

Fig.2. Variation of permittivity as a function of frequency
It can be seen fig.3. that dielectric loss tangent has the same trend as permittivity losses. It decreases
with increase in frequency and becomes constant up to 1GHz due to decreased polarization at high AC fields. At
x=0.15 shows a low loss dielectric behaviour which allows its use in high frequency data reading/writing in
electronic structures.

IV. CONCLUSIONS
Nano spinal NiFe2-xCexO4 with x in step increment has been synthesized by sol-gel Combustion
method. All the studied samples are pure cubic spinel phase ferrites without any impurity metal oxides. Lattice
constant and crystallite size decreases with increase in Ce3+
concentration, due to doping there is shrinkage in
unit cell. Dielectric constant and loss tangent decreases with increase in the dopant concentration showing that
the material with x=0.15 is a low loss dielectric.
