Fidel Castro And His Legacy

Chandler Dixon
English 1101 Final Paper
December 13, 2016
Fidel Castro and His Legacy Was Fidel Castro the Tyrant of the Caribbean or a Great
Revolutionary? With the recent death of one of the Western Hemisphere?s most recognizable
rulers, the question arises as to the legacy of Castro and his Cuba. Castro is well known among the
Baby Boomers and Generation X citizens of the United States and Latin America. While in the
United States we are taught one view of Castro as a tyrant, many citizens of Cuba and other third
world countries and a very different view of Cuba?s greatest leader.
The life of Fidel Castro is forever associated with the story of the Cuban Revolution. In modern
times no revolutionary movement is more identified with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His revolutionary victory over Batista came very quickly. Many of the primary landowners,
business owners, professionals, and clergy stayed in Cuba, hoping that they could influence the new
government. They hoped to protect their considerable privileges they held under Batista, but that
was not in Castro?s plan for Cuba.
In 1959, Castro was appointed prime minister and began to introduce measures that would distribute
the wealth and increase financial support in the rural areas of Cuba. In May, an agricultural reform
act limited the size of most farms. The government also began to build hundreds of new schools and
training thousands of additional teachers. Health care was extended to the entire population for the
first time with the construction of clinics and hospitals in the countryside and plantation areas of
Cuba. Education and health care are the two most significant contributions that Castro has left as a
legacy.
Fagen reported that Castro was perceived as a charismatic leader by a large portion of the Cuban
population. He also stated that Castro?s ?voice and visage blanketed the island? (p. 278) in the
early years of his reign. But the use of revolutionary tribunals to judge and then execute
approximately 500 members of Batista?s police and security agencies was popular with the Cuban
masses. This forced many of those who had been associated with the old regime to seek refuge
abroad

Due to Hawk s continuous screaming, Fitzgerald stabbed him right in front of Glass. When
Bridger returned asking where Hawk was, Fitzgerald pretended nothing happened and played it
off by asking, He was not with you? Bridger assumed he had run off. The next morning,
Fitzgerald woke Bridger up and told him there were about 20 Ree down by the creek and they
had to leave right away. Bridger insisted they must bury Glass first, but Fitzgerald did not want
to. Fitzgerald drug Glass to the grave he had dug previously and threw some dirt on him. Bridger
left a canteen with a symbol on it in his grave. The 2 men find their way back to their village to
meet up with the other group and receive their pay of three hundred dollars for looking after
Glass and giving him the proper burial. By this time Glass had crawled out of his shallow grave
and reached the nearest river where he had a run in with the Ree. He floated down stream for a
ways and banked himself to build a camp for the night. Above him in a field there were a large
group of buffalos running from a pack of coyotes. One of the Buffalo got killed by the coyote.
That night Glass noticed a fire gleaming off of branches nearby and an Indian man whose tribe
was killed by the Ree had found the Buffalo and was eating it. Glass crawled toward the man
showing signs of being injured and the man gave him food. The next morning he told Glass he was
to ride with him on his horse. The next day, the man stopped

Porsche Exposed
1) Do you believe that Porsche s management is appropriately concerned with stockholder wealth?
Does Porsche s ownership structure work to the benefit or detriment of public shareholders?
Although Porsche is publicly traded, the company is controlled by only two stockholders, the
Porsche and Piéch families. As the quotation by Holger Härter makes clear, the two families
hold exclusive shareholder influence over management. An interesting point for class discussion is
whether the families actually ever exercise these rights. It is not clear from the information or
evidence presented that they influence or direct current management headed by Dr. Wendelin
Wiedeking. They may simply agree with current leadership and therefore remain quietly ... Show

The objective would be to match dollar cash inflows from US sales with dollar cash outflows in
US dollar debt service (principal and interest). Porsche has chosen not to use this approach most
likely because it does not do debt. The firm has not needed debt to finance its operating activities
and investing activities under the current management team (since 1993), and it also does not
philosophically believe in using debt (see page 5 of the case). A good point of discussion with
students, however, is that a company does not necessarily need debt to use debt. The benefits of
leverage are well known, and although many successful companies today do not choose to use debt
(Intel, Dell, Exxon Mobil, Microsoft to name a few), this does not necessarily prevent Porsche from
revisiting this judgement. The benefit of using a financing hedge like dollar denominated debt is
that it would take less active management and would not require a major outlay of capital out front
like currency options require (option premiums).
Current Strategy. The company has been hedging the US dollar long position by estimating its
annual US dollar sales and hedging that exposure by purchasing put options on the US dollar
(the right to sell US dollars for euros at a specific exchange rate). The company has been
purchasing these options in what it refers to as a three year rolling hedge in which it hedges
expected US dollar sales three years out

Macrophages Difference Between White Blood Cells And Microbes
The human immune system is a complex network of cells and organs that evolved to fight off
infectious microbes. Much of the immune system s work is carried out by an army of various
specialized cells, each type designed to fight disease in a particular way. The invading microbes
first run into the vanguard of this army, which includes white bloodcells called macrophages
(literally, big eaters ). The macrophages engulf as many of the microbes as they can. ANTIGENS
SOUND THE ALARM How do the macrophages recognize the microbes? All cells and microbes
wear a uniform made up of molecules that cover their surfaces. Each human cell displays unique

Catastrophically, the assassination of Doctor Martin Luther King was devastating. The

guilty to the murder, so there would be no trial. On April 4, 1968, Doctor King was fatally
wounded by a single shot in Memphis, Tennessee while standing on the balcony of his second

case, which consisted of the rifle, eyewitness reports, and fingerprints on the rifle all pointed to a
single assailant, James Earl Ray. Furthermore, James Earl Ray was an escaped convict that was on

The Effects Of Alopecia On Human Hair Loss
Many people limit alopecia to one thing, human hair loss. However, it has a tremendous impact
on many species in our society Et. Al s Frey, Rebecca J., PhD, and Taryn Terry (2016). When
thinking about alopecia, many people only think about the hair on top of their head. Alopecia
can be found anywhere on the human body also on some animals. There is a wide spectrum that
results in having alopecia ranging from inflammation, harsh chemicals, mental disorders too

Narrative Essay About Canoeing
Canoeing was always something I had wanted to do. Years ago, my family and close friends
would go canoeing down the beautiful Cedar River in Osage, but I was always too young to go
along. This past summer, while sitting in the shop with my dad and brother, on a hot and humid
day, my dad suggested that we should go canoeingdown the Upper Iowa River. I jumped up with
excitement as I was so happy that I would finally get to go canoeing.
When Sunday came around, my mom, dad, Theo, and I headed to Cresco to go on my first little
canoeing trip. Before we could just jump in the river with a canoe, we had to register. Upon arriving
at the registering table, I could see the long line of anxious kids, like me, and frustrated parents,
most likely like mine, standing in line to register. We spent a good twenty minutes standing in the
hot rays of the rising sun over the opened, grassy area, near the banks of the river just trying to
register to get a canoe.
After finally being able to register, my family along with other strangers, piled into a van pulling
a rusty rack carrying at least twelve canoes and kayaks each. I wasn t sure our canoes would
make it to the river entrance after seeing how they weren t even strapped down as we were flying
around curve after curve on a dusty gravel road. All the windows in the van were open making the
ride to the entrance a little unpleasant. We could feel the warm, dusty air blowing at us from all
directions.

Justification And Justifications Of Motive Talks Basing...
Introduction
The purpose of the paper that I am writing is to reveal accounts of excuses and justifications
within motive talks basing exposure on any and all delinquent behaviors that politicians or those
yet to attain power. Forgetting who it was that got them elected to begin with, indulgences in
uncanny behaviors, there are those who are seen as wholly incompetent of being human let alone
be in positions of power. These accounts are more than recent ranging from May 2015 to March
2016, showcasing how not all those who have been elected by the people with their false promises
did not deserve the support they got. Able to blatantly disregard all rules, laws, regulations bending
the law just to accommodate themselves, where anyone else would normally be prosecuted. Three
accounts analyzing articles will be developed upon in this paper the first, condemning the
condemner, the second, appeal to higher loyalty, and lastly, scapegoating. Each of these accounts is
directly represented by their respective articles and how power absentmindedly leads to corruption.
Definitions Section The commonsense definition of motives that I had before the course was that
motives can be seen as the reasons that enable us to make certain decisions regarding our actions.
To me a motive was or could be looked at as an incentive, something that could push a human in
terms of having made a clear and definitive reason for undertaking or embarking on certain
endeavors. Being the reason why one

Teaching And Learning For Students
Many school systems believe that the only effective way for students to learn is through direct
instruction. This isn t the only way, but it is the most common way throughout America. Direct
instruction is the easiest way for teachers to instruct to a whole group and students are used to this
type of instruction. But that style of teaching isn t exactly the best way for students to learn and
retain information. One of the most effective ways for students to learn is through differentiated
instruction. Differentiated instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing
different students with different avenues to learn. This style of instruction allows for the
curriculum to adapt to certain needs and interests of individual students. (Bravmann) Making this
instruction one of the most effective styles of teaching. It also gives both the teachers and the
students more of an opportunity to learn in different ways that will help them to be successful in
the long run. Since this type of instruction involves a ton of work many teachers don t use it
because they don t have the time but it is really worth the time, especially for the students who don
t learn like everyone else when it comes to direct instruction. One of the best examples of
differentiated instruction comes from The Ron Clark film which is about who is a man from North
Carolina who moved to New York and had the chance to change the lives of students through
differentiated instruction. He

The Death Of Ivan Ilych By Leo Tolstoy
In The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, he shows how the majority of society is selfish.
Tolstoy suggests how even though there is so much selfishness in society, there are some
exceptional people who do not follow social conventions and are the prime example of how
people in a society should be. This paper will argue that being selfless is important in society and
that people should deviate from individualistic behavior and concentrate more on the collective
behavior. Through this careful examination it will be revealed that although a person should think
about how to advance themselves in the social hierarchy, it cannot be their only goal and people
need to combine it with it a more humanistic goal as well. According to Tolstoy, society... Show

He introduces the character as Gerasim, the butler s assistant. He is content with the little that
that he has. He is the only one in the story who believes that death will come to everyone. Other
people in society think that death only comes to other people and will not come to them. This is
exemplified by Peter, who feels that this had happened to Ivan Ilych and not to him, and that it
should not and could not happen to him... began to ask with interest about the details of Ivan
Ilych s death, as though death was an accident natural to Ivan Ilych but certainly not to himself
(Tolstoy 9). Through the thought process of Peter, Tolstoy shows how society views death.
Gerasim is also the only one in the story who shows empathy towards Ivan Ilych. He cares about
other people. He doesn t feel that helping Ivan is a burden, but more as a way of soothing a
dying man. As Ivan observed, He saw that no one felt for him, because no one even wished to
grasp his position. Only Gerasim recognized it and pitied him. And so Ivan Ilych felt at ease only
with him. He felt comforted when Gerasim supported his legs (sometimes all night long) Tolstoy(
42). This illustrates how Gerasim didn t mind his own inconvenience for the comfort of his
master. Tolstoy portrays how most people in society have a lot more financial and social status,
but they are missing the essential meaning of life. However, even though Gerasim lacks these
advantages that other people have, he is the one who is the happiest. This is because he has all the
components; selflessness, love for everyone, and a strong sense of empathy which makes up a

Evolution Of Primate Intelligence For Example Gestation...
Primates are said to share at least ninety eight percent of their DNA with us humans. The reason
why we re so fascinated with studying other primates is because we would like to uncover the
hidden secret s that makes us so similar yet so different at the same time. They give us an idea
of how our ancestors may have evolved and where do we begin to separate in our lineage and
how far back do we go. They are many different elements that helped shape the evolution of
primate intelligence for example gestation period, social organization and mating process. So
what exactly is that makes it so different from our primate cousins? Our brain and the size of it!
Our brain is more developed than our primate cousins, but how and why is the question. Let s
begin by discussing the parts and function of our brains. The neo cortex is the largest part of the
brain and the most important. This part of the brain is divided into four different sections: the
temporal lobe, occipital lobe, parietal and the frontal lobe. These four sections are located on either
the right or left hemisphere of the brain they are connected by axons that send messages to and
fro between both hemispheres and to specific parts of the brain then to the body. Our neo cortex
is what makes us so different from our primate cousins. It s the thing that distinguishes and makes
our species so special and different from any other species on the planet. We have the largest neo
cortex in relation to body size of all known

Persuasive Essay On Animal Hunting
The fact is that, despite the obvious immoralities of killing to just take a fur or tooth, it is one of the
only things keeping the animals alive in Africa. That statement probably doesn t make much sense
on the surface, but there are many more variables in the whole idea than just the killing of the
animals by trophy hunters like poachers, the countries individual wealth, and the ability for the
countries to protect the animals in their territories.
It is common knowledge that many animals in Africa are going extinct and it is most definitely
because of the involvement of people. For example, 10,000 15,000 free roaming African lions
remain, down from 50,000 a decade ago and In 1900 there were about 100,000 cheetah worldwide,
present estimates place their number at 10,000 15,000 with about one tenth of those living in
captivity. Because of this many people feel that it is our responsibility to make sure that they
survive, or at least continue as nature would intend. Well that is simply an unrealistic expectation,
but we should try to make sure we don t completely ruin the ecosystems, and trophy hunting is the
last in a long line of problems to be resolved, and as for now it is actually one of the only things
helping certain regions who impose it properly.
The money from this allows countries like Tanzania to pay to protect the animals from to more
serious threat, poaching. Poachers are mainly interested in bush meat, the meat from wildebeests,
they then take the meat and

Analysis Of Pocahonas s The Labor Problem At Jamestown
Pocahontas main target audience is families and children worldwide. Thus, the film must take
into account different political views and ideologies, while encompassing an appropriate theme
that is suitable for people of all ages. A lot must be considered before creating a storyline that can
affect the minds of children of such young ages because providing a false narrative or a one sided
view may upset particular audiences. The way in which Disney s studios portrays the characters is
how the audience will understand the story of Pocahontasand John Smith. Yet the Disney film
contains an abundance of factual errors that can distort the viewer s ideas. The specific narrative
Disney studios choses portray will be the one that will resonate in the minds of the audiences. The
piece The Indians New World: The Catawba Experience Author by James Merrell and The Labor
Problem at Jamestown by Edmund Morgan both contrast the stark differences between the Disney
movie and the harsh historical reality. However, the film is important in that it brings attention to
the racial injustices between Native Americans and the discriminatory white settlers. First, the
Disney movie was ineffective in providing the audience a balanced representation of the history.
The obvious differences were the downplay of the tensions between the Powhatans and English
Settlers, and the absence of the gory deaths of innocent people from both sides. This was obviously

Interprofessional Collaboration Essay
In the era of globalization, interdisciplinary teamwork and interprofessional collaboration has been
strongly encouraged in healthcare practices, especially for those situations requiring emergency
treatment. In this paper, the author discussedthe potential ethical consequences and
recommendations of including currently popular virtual/computer based simulation as a medical
educational tool for formal nurseand physician education programs.
For the purpose of imitating the real emergency situations, the technical ability of simulation has
been continuously upgraded by advanced computer programming or by artificially standardized
human behavior. The computer assisted mannequins are even able to communicate , talk and
provide various reactions and interactions by using predetermined language and settings. However,
despite that sophisticated high tech programming brings convenience during the course of learning,
practice and performance evaluation, the author points out that such normative approach cannot be
qualified as any paradigm for real practice since preprogrammed language cannot predict real human
thoughts and behaviors.

Example Of Leading By Example
Lead by Example: Fact or Fiction My family is really important to me. This is because they are

Boeing Case Essay
Boeing 767 Case Study Questions 1. How would you describe Boeing s approach to project
management? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Boeing adopts a very thorough, well planned
out process to manage the project. The stages are defined clearly and tasks involved in each stage
are carried out sequentially. The first stage of their approach is the project definition phase during
which Boeing identified holes in the market not met by existing planes, assessed future airline
needs, considered alternative plane configurations, explored feasibility of possible technologies and

Boeing had a clear project scope and put emphasis on airline needs (directly speaking with major
airlines) prior to the design process. An auditing team is developed to further monitor each
major step and make sure that each task is carried out properly; Boeing is smart enough to pick
experienced managers who thoroughly understand how this industry/company operates as
auditors so the review process can be carried out more efficiently and accurately. During the
plane design process, there are four head engineers responsible for four technological areas and
one chief engineer in charge of the plane program. The former is more concern about the
technical aspects of the project while the latter is more concerned about practical aspects such as
costs and scheduling; such approach is desirable so that people involved in the project don t get
too caught up in one particular area. Rapid communication between some of the foreign
participants and Boeing is emphasized greatly as there is a private telephone network connecting
Boeing to each participant. During the final stages of the project, meetings are held frequently so
that the teams can receive early notification to catch and solve problems sooner. However, there
exist some weaknesses of the process. Firstly, since some program participants are in different

Persuasive Essay On Wild Nature
Wild nature is home for a huge number of animal varieties, a significant number of which are exotic
or near extinction.
Throughout recent decades, mankind has attempted to prevent the extinction of these creatures,
secure the territory of these species, and by one means or another, minimize the negative
consequences of the presence of humans.
Be that as it may, there is another issue that has not been given careful consideration to this issue is
keeping these outlandish creatures as pets.
Although the caregivers of these pets believe they are doing no harm, in fact such a practice should
be prohibited due to a number of reasons that not only endanger the animal, but also the person.
In reality, no one, aside from maybe the wealthiest individuals, can provide for a wild creature and
give it all its essential needs.
Exotic creatures have extraordinary requirements. For instance, wild tigers require a substantial
domain to wander and roam in with large amounts of fresh meat.
A venomous Monocled cobra, which can be lawfully purchased in various states for a weak $100,
will over and over strike when feeling in danger, the snake can feel threatened for multiple reason
and most are unidentified until bitten. In a different category, a bobcat can chase its prey eight
times greater than itself with the will and potential to rip its target to shreds. Chimpanzees and
different primates require a ton of room for climbing, as well as ocean warm blooded creatures that
require tremendous water bowls to swim and drink. Overall, the amount of time, dedication, and
most importantly space, is too great for an ordinary individual to maintain.
In addition to cleaning and entering the enclosed habitats, it is much too dangerous for a common
being to provide and withhold.
Along with the everyday dangers of exotic animals, these animals might also have serious diseases
that the caretaker may be completely oblivious to.
For example, the monkeypox outbreak that affected dozens of people in the Midwest in 2003 was
so uncontrolled and unknown it almost became an epidemic. Also, many of these animals are
carriers of zoonotic diseases, such as Herpes B,
Rabies, Salmonella, Rabies, and Monkeypox, all of which are communicable

Lloyd Webber and Rice to be performed publicly. It has since been revised performed multiple
times at various schools and theatres (Playbill). Following Lloyd Webber s success with Jesus
Christ Superstar, the show had its first professional performance at the Edinburgh Festival of
1972 by the Young Vic company. After it was not deemed to be very successful in the UK, the
music and lyrics were revised again, adding more characters and songs. And then the script
finally became solidified (more or less) to the version we know of today (The Encyclopedia of
the Musical Theatre Vol.2). Its first Broadway production was on November 18, 1981 at the
Entermedia Theatre in New York City (Gänzl). Although it technically premiered in 1981, it is

The Importance Of Informed Attivation And Qualitative...
Although it can be stated that participant observation and qualitative research overall has some
unfavourable parts which make it not the optimum research method for making sure that informed
consent is always respected for sociologists undertaking qualitative research involving human
participants from diverse social and cultural groups (Dylan, 2017). One of these is especially
present in fieldwork where participant observationis being used as the main research method is
both the length and the cost of the research, this is because regular research is not being published
as well as a large cost of publishing their extensive works (Dylan, 2017).
Informed consent is the most important thing for sociologists undertaking qualitative research.
Informed consent is when multiple conditions are met, these conditions are that an individual or
a group of individuals must give their formal acknowledgement and permission to start a
relationship with a sociologist who is doing qualitative research, secondly the individuals have
to be a person or a group of people who are reciprocal in the relationship, linking to the second
point is the last which is that an acceptable level of maturity has to be reached by both groups to
create a reciprocal relationship between the two parties (Miller, Frank et. al, 2009, 4 9).
Specifically in the Pacific if these criteria are not met information can become affected, when a
special relationship where intimate details can be shared and not be betrayed

The Swot Analysis And Summaries Of The SWOT Analysis
Section 2: SWOT Analysis
The theory of the SWOT analyses
The SWOT analysis aims to provide a short overview of a business s current strategic situation by
analyzing its internal factors, being strengths and weaknesses, alongside its external factors that
might have an impact on the businesses strategic choices, being the entity s opportunities and
threats (Anja Böhm, 2009: 1). The SWOT analysis is ultimately a tool which is used to analyze a
business s current situation in the market place and aims to identify a strategy for successful
development using the overlap between the internal and external factors. The acronym SWOT
simply stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Nadine Pahl Anne Richter,
2009: 27).
Strengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the major limitations is that it doesn t offer any end solutions to develop a business s
strategic plans, but rather forms part of the process, as depicted in the above Diagram 1. It only
acts as a tool to help a business with their strategic decisions, and cannot produce the final
decision by itself. A full SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that
could reflect priorities. It does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem because
some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses
competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. It doesn t
highlight or single out any of the more important strengths and opportunities and this can
sometimes lead to favorable opportunities being lost among other mediocre ones. One of the
problems that often arises when conducting a SWOT analysis is that the same factor could be
placed in two different categories. This problem of ambiguity can cause disputes and confusion. An
example of this would be locating a retail store on the high upmarket streets of a big city. This is a
strength as it puts the store out there to lots of potential customers, but the weakness to this is that
it would have very high

The Positive Effects Of Music And Music Education
Music has the power of producing a certain effect on the moral character of the soul, and if it has
the power to do this, it is clear that the young must be directed and must be educated in it, Aristotle
said (NAfME). When students learn music at a younger age their general well being is impacted in
a positive way. Musical training encourages young students to tap into their imagination and create
art. Musicconnects pieces of life s tasks together. As prospering musicians, students are vulnerable
to emotional changes, sparks of creativity, and an increased sense of belonging. Music has made a
great impact on the lives of many students from all over the world. Teaching various types of music
and musical improvisation to students positively impacts their well being by improving learning
skills, promoting self respect, inspiring creativity, and establishing musicianship. Music is known as
a very important scholarly subject. Music was considered so educational that the Ancient Greeks
used it to study and teach mathematics and philosophy (Online Master of Music Education). After
the United States realized the importance of teaching music education the U.S Department of
Education declared music as a core subject in curriculums. In 1717 the first music school in
America opened in Boston, Massachusetts. The school helped improve children s singing for
religious reasons in a straightforward teaching style. This teaching style included music tablature
and textbooks. Singing

Stereotypes Of Dumb Blondes
Blondes do not deserve the reputation society has given them. Contrary to popular belief, the
dumb blonde jokes are nothing but inaccurate and long drawn out. It s no secret that blondes are
given a bad name based on their physical appearance. The media has done a great deal of
prolonging this idea into the brains of millions. Television shows and radio broadcasts are most
commonly to blame for much of these blonde hair stereotypes. These media outlets have
especially taken a certain comedic point of view for portraying the role of blondes in society.
People try to define blondes by using derogatory terms like stupid, moronic, and brainless, but little
do they know that hair color has absolutely no effect on the way a person thinks or... Show more

Extensive media sources, as well as literary sources, have been notorious for establishing a
certain stereotype of an individual based on physical appearance. This image centers on ones
weight, height, hair color, and overall physical beauty. It is reported that these particular
attributes may affect ones personal career. No one knows quite why this is the case, but there
have been several studies that involve these works, linking whether there is a direct correlation
with these results or if it comes down to a discriminative nature. Among some of the most
interesting studies, are the ones that deal with bias in the workplace. According to a journal
from Labour Economics, Blonde women with no work experience earn 6% 9% less than their
non blonde counterparts (Dechter 2015). The findings show that blondes can have positive, as
well as negative, effects in the workplace. The stronger negative effect of blonde hair color is
commonly apparent in sales (Dechter 2015). This theory has proven to be true by the sheer
presence of customer discrimination, thus showing a lack of blondes in the sales profession
(Dechter 2015). Both negative and positive preferences for blondeness are in line with the
prejudices of the blonde stereotype , which attributes a series of positive and negative
characteristics to young blonde women but not to young blonde men (Dechter 2015). Based on a
study in the UK in 2006, scientists analyzed 500 CEOs and discovered that blondes were very
underrepresented compared to men and women with other hair colors (Dickinson 2012). A separate
study done in 1996, concluded that after the subjects displayed headshots in their resume during a
job interview, blondes were greatly undermined (Dickinson 2012). Although all the resumes were
identical, the blonde applicants were rated as less competent

Advantages Of E-Commerce Security
ABSTRACT
E commerce Security is protecting assets of e commerce from any unauthorized access,

Analysis Of People Like Us
Conforming to the Pack In the essay People Like Us by David Brooks, Brooks talks about the
societal division of people. This division is often unintentional, such as the making of
communities through the real estate market. Buying and selling homes in order to try and get
into a new neighborhood with similar ideals or beliefs. On the other hand Brooks describes that
people try to be different from others. Such as the different lifestyles of the two very different
political parties. We are indeed profoundly different, but is that really such a bad thing. Often in
his essay, Brooks makes references to how individuals separate and divide themselves. We often
think when we divide ourselves up it is intentional; that we do it because we are avoiding
controversy. Brooks mentions that there are sometimes we as humans separate ourselves
unintentionally, like buying homes in new developments (1). We often don t know what the
neighborhood will be like, so we rely heavily on the characteristics that the few people living there
share. Age of adults, age of kids if there is any, and what does the communitybelieve in; this is
called housing discrimination. It begs the question, why does it matter if people try and form to a
certain community. It is our natural tendency to try and align ourselves with a community that we
share a common passion or belief with. We can t just assume that everyone will be happier if we
never created any clique type communities. People are attracted to

The Bible Is Not A Children s Book Essay
The Bible is not a children s book. Not only is it beyond the length and reading level appropriate
for younger audiences, it often covers what some parents might consider inappropriate topics.
Imagine finding an illustrated children s bible containing graphic stories about talking to ghosts or
children being burned alive as sacrifices to God. These are troubling stories that actually appear
within the Hebrew Bible, which even some adults may feel uncomfortable discussing. Academic
scholarship of the Bible, however, should not be influenced by such discomfort. This has led a
handful of scholars to study these death related experiences within ancient Israelite contexts. The
last thirty years have revealed at least two contemporary topics of conversations between scholars
within this subfield: necromancy and child sacrifice among ancient Israelite religion. Typically,
dialogue about ancient Israelites is framed among the broader beliefs and practices of peoples from
the surrounding geographical region including the Canaanites, Egyptians, and other ancient
peoples; these topics are no exception. While, there is also no consensus among modern scholars,
the majority of academics appear to accept both child sacrifice and necromancy as a historical
practice belonging to the worship of Yahweh. Nonetheless, these scholars continue to do so with
varying degrees of beliefs about the particular conditions during which these controversial customs
were performed.

The Diversity Of Soil Invertebrates
Introduction: The diversity of soil invertebrates is very important to our ecosystem, because most
soil invertebrates are responsible for key soil processes such as nutrient recycling, nutrient retention,
formation of soil structure, and decomposition rates. Invertebrates are one of the most dominant
groups of animals in the world. Recent studies show that animals may constitute as much as 23%
of the total diversity of living organisms (Lavelle et al., 2006).
Common soil invertebrates include arthropods and nematodes. These soil invertebrates provide
major ecosystem services. For example, ants, dung beetles, ground beetles, earthworms, and slugs
aid in seed dispersal, which is important because seed dispersal is known to affect food production
and nutrient recycling as well as decomposition rates. Bees, butterflies, moths, and ants aid in
pollination. These invertebrates are very important because about three fourths of all plants are
pollinator dependent and insects tend to provide most of the animal pollination globally. Without
pollinators plant species would be more susceptible to extinction. In agricultural systems,
invertebrate pollinators are responsible for the successful production of vegetables and fruits that
maintain livestock production. Nematodes, annelids, and arthropods aid in decomposition (Prather
et al., 2012)

sources of fossil fuel energy, Natural Gas Energy has much impact in depleting, and does not form
a sustainable answer to man?s energy questions. Natural Gas is highly combustible and it can lead
to explosions if not carefully handled. This is the reason that it is not used in vehicles more. Also it
exists mostly in the gaseous state which makes handling it more difficult than Oil.

Animal Rights Argumentative Analysis
What makes hunting and trapping for sport is that people that do hunt or trap are seeing these
animals as renewable resources. They can reproduce without the help of humans; however, that
does not give humans the right to use them as a natural resource. It is a failure to not treat them
with respect. One of the main concerns for defending hunting is that it is not different than what
wildlife does to each other. The rights view sees that animals not moral agents, and have different
morals than what humans have. Then only have to kill what they need to. The still cause harm, but
do no moral harm in the logic of the rights view.

Leaver culture considers nature in how it improves with the world around it. Ismael uses the
story of Cain and Able to explain the difference. For anyone that has grown up learning about
Christian beliefs, the story of Cain and Able is taught as a way that if you go against God then
you get punished. The way Ishmael explains it, is more about a difference of cultures. Able
represents the Leaver culture, while Cain is a part of the Taker culture. If humans look at the
story from the Taker perspective, they see how it is a perspective in the bible. The story makes
more sense if it looked from a Leavers perspective. However, Leaver culture is not fully gone; but
Taker culture has taken a majority of control.
Regan main claim is that humans are no capably of fully knowing when the animals suffer, but that
does not deny them the rights they need. Regan is searching for the answer in how to communicate
with animals. Ishmael knows that our lost connection with nature is due to human s own fault.
Humans separated ourselves so far that humans cannot reach that communication point with nature.
However, if humans were to be like Leaver culture, then humans would be able to work with nature.
At that point humans could gain the communication back to

What Makes Jack Nickolson A Hero

Most people are wimps and can not handle a loit of blood and gore, but not me. I m thick skinned
and don t close my eyes at all.
Everyone want to badmouth the villian, but he is critical to the success of a story. Without a
villian, you just don t realize how great the hero is. The villian plays many important roles. He
helps develop the plot. He is the antagonist, the opponent, the enemy. usually he loses too, so we
usually get to celebrate victory of good over evil. this makes us all happy, smile, and enjoy the
movie more. The actors love this too because they make more money.
i do not have a favorite villain, there are so many to chose from. Certainly the Joker in the

his actions are just so mean. Nickolson was also very good in A Few Good Men. When he

Protecting Pygmy Sloth Habitat On The Isla Escudo De Verguas
The plan to protect pygmy sloth habitat on the Isla Escudo de Verguas is to create a team to begin
gathering research to develop a Comprehensive Conservation Plan. The research gathered can be
from previous research conducted by a variety of scientists. In addition, new data should be
collected on the current populationof Pygmy sloths in addition to the amount of mangroves on the
island. This plan will make sure that the endangered animals on the island are protected and
ensure that the refuge management is taking the steps to help recuperate the mangroves that have
been cut. The first step would be to gather a team to head the proposal. Some of the team
members should be from the refuge management, as well as people who are well informed on the
animals that inhabit the island and environmental information. Once the team is built, they will
need to gather local fishermen and regular visitors to the island to assess the situation and receive
feedback on what they believe to be the largest problems facing the island. With the help from the
local fishermen, who are the ones that are cutting down the pygmy sloth habitat, the refuge
management team will be able to assess the needs of the fishermen as well as the need of the
animals to create a plan of action to better ensure the safety of the island. From this research, the
team can create an initial draft of a plan for the next ten or fifteen years. The Comprehensive

Prostate Cancer and PSA Testing Essay
Introduction
Prostate Cancer (PCa) is the most common cancer affecting men and the second leading cause of
cancer death among American men (Qaseem, Denberg, Owens, Shekelle, 2013). Medical
professionals have been using prostate specific antigen (PSA) screenings along with digital rectal
exam (DRE) for many years to screen for prostate cancer. PSA was first identified in 1966 in semen,
followed by the identification of PSA in blood in 1979. The PSA test has been approved for use
since 1994 to detect early prostate cancer. Most men that are greater than 50 years of age in the

A grade D recommendation means that the USPSTF concluded there is at least moderate
certainty that the harms of doing the intervention equal or outweigh the benefits in the target
population. This recommendation also advises against a DRE because the risk of mortality and
morbidity outweigh survival benefit as results revealed the risk of dying of screening is greater
than prior to screening. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF, 2012) now advises
against PSA based screening tests for men of all ages of the risks of over diagnosis and treatment,
which have resulted in many adverse effects, serious complications, and even death.
The purpose of this paper is to reflect on pros and cons of PSA testing, and to review current
guidelines from well respected authorities. The European Randomized Study of Screening for PCa
(ERSPC) showed a 20% reduction in PCa specific mortality (Moyer, 2012). However, the prostate
arm of the Prostate Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial in the United

As a result, choosing an optimal treatment for localized PCa is difficult and controversial.

The Only Thing That Rabbi Lipstein
The only thing that Rabbi Lipstein liked talking about as much as talmud, was life in the old

knowledge on the topic by recalling how he used to milk cows in his early rural life. Although
most of the students seemed to pay no more attention to him during these stories, I would show

Because I yearned for that foregone Jewish experience. There was something so appealing to me
about being a Jew in yesterday s Europe. I compared Rabbi Lipstein s stories about his early life to
my own experiences. I found being Jewish life in this country to be dry and uninspiring. In
America, a Jew is no different than an Episcopalian or Catholic. I am just an American whose
religious affiliation happens to be Judaism, but besides that I am just like everyone else. While in
Europe, Jews had a distinct identity, their own language and vibrant culture. Though I am
incredibly grateful to the United States for all of the rights and liberties that I am provided, and
though it seems ridiculous to complain about being accepted by the populace, there is something
about this great country that zaps the vitality of foreign cultures and assimilates its many distinct
peoples into a flavorless whole.
For the abundance of stories Rabbi Lipstein told, there was one topic that he never discussed, the
War. His stories all occurred before the year 1939. He never even told us the circumstances of how
he got to this country, that was all left to speculation.
Rabbi Lipstein clears his throat and then asks the class another question pertaining to the required
length of the lulav. As usual, no one raises their hands besides the first

Who Is The Character Of Paul Fisher In Tangerine
Everyone has been misunderstood at one time or another. It s part of the human life. Difference.
Difference is what brings us together. Paul Fisher is different. In the novel Tangerine by Edward
Bloor, the protagonist, Paul Fisher, is legally blind. Misunderstood his whole life. While he
legally cannot see, he can see what others can t. Or won t. This has plagued Paul s life and
throws a shadow over his memory. His memory is holding Paul back. He has been told his whole
life that he became blind from staring at a solar eclipse for an hour. But he can t remember it.
Paul and his family are now moving to Florida to start a new life. Paul s zombies are following,
waiting to come out of the shadows and finally reveal what they ve been hiding from Paul. As
Paul struggles with the secrets in his family and changing schools, he feels intimidated and
misunderstood, but he soon learns that he s been a coward all his life, but there s nothing to be
afraid of, and he begins to stand up for himself and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example is on page 86, I m still afraid of Erik. I m afraid of Arthur now, too. Paul is scared of
his brother Erik, the antagonist, and is now scared of his friend Arthur. Erik has harassed Paul
in the past, and Paul knows he needs to end it. He knows his parents won t do anything to fix it,
he needs to stand up for himself. But he doesn t have the courage to do it. Paul is angry at
himself for that. Therefore making the low self esteem issue. Another example is when Paul
gets kicked off the Lake Windsor soccer team because of his eyes. The Lake Windsor school has
to have insurance for all the players, without it, they lose the program. Paul put up a fight but
knew he had failed. He didn t argue after that and just sat there and cried on the field. Paul then
declined to be the team manager because he was a player. Paul gave up with his dream and was

Locke And Descartes Argument Analysis
Everyone has their own beliefs about where ideas come from and how they are formed. Locke and
Descartes both had very different arguments about what the origin of these ideas was. Descartes
believed that the origin of ideas stemmed from imagination or reason and that we have been born
with all of the knowledgewe need; we just have to come to an experience or age where we will
know how to use it. Whereas Locke believed that the origin of ideas came from experience and we
have to learn everything we need to know. I agree with both arguments that these philosophers have
presented. Being an Education major and being required to study the ways in which children learn
and how their brains are formed has helped me see the flaws in their arguments,... Show more

But in reality children aren t aware of the sky being blue because they have to learn colors when
they go to school for the first time. For instance, it is seen that people in society that don t attend
school only know as much as they have seen in life or have experienced. Individuals evolve
based on their environment. Furthermore, no one person is born knowing that the sky is blue,
all children are supposed to learn colors when they start school or if their parents start working
on colors with them before they start school. Descartes to some extent was right about his ideas
because we know when children are born they cry because the hospital room is cold. They also
cry when they have a full diaper. This proves that infants have a minor sense of communication,
even though they may not understand that they are actually calling to their parents for help. So, it
can be said that humans are born knowing how to cry as a technique to let their loved ones realize
that they are distressed. No one taught them how to cry, babies are just able to come out of the
womb with the ability to cry as a temporary substitute until they can learn how to

Relationship Between Relationship Marketing And Customer...
When examined historically, relationship marketing and customer relationship management have
been two central essentials in marketing strategy in the past decades. Customer Relationship
Management term originated at the beginning of the 20th century when the concept of marketing
shifted from transactional to relational. The shift toward this more personal marketingapproach has
been stemmed from the increased demand for attention of consumers who want to ensure that the
brands they choose not only offer and sell products or services, but they sincerely care about them.
This emotional demand caused companies to act accordingly and thus human like brand
communication systems and relationship marketingstrategies which try to understand and answer
customers more deeply and carefully started to occur. Brands started to emphasize the real human
beings behind their logos, pay the attention what their customers need and display human like
humour and intelligence in the way they communicate with their customers to get ahead and
compete in the market. Being friends with the customers and providing every necessary
information and support for them on different social media accounts regularly became one of the
key success factors for companies today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Webster points out that We need models that focus on the market exchanges that are not
just on the market exchanges that are the subject of the paradigm (1992, p.13). To address this
need, a paradigm switch was proposed from economics and exchange theory to psychology and
intimacy theory. Then Reis and Shaver (1988) s proposition of intimacy had its reflections on
relationship marketing and many studies suggested further research on intimacy skills and
individual differences in intimacy needs of

Informative Essay On Fake News
Bogus News
Everyone is tuned into the news because sometimes it has information the society needs to
know. The reason I say sometimes must do with the fact that not all news is trustworthy. Fake
news is seen very often and can be misinterpreted by many people. Well, what is fake news? I
believe fake news is information that is false and just out there to get attention to it. Behind fake
news comes fake ideas, most people s opinions on social media, and false predictions or sayings.
Nowadays, anything could be considered as news but I think it s important to identify the real
news from the fake ones. That way whatever anyone hears or sees will be reliable.
According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Tan says, Fake ideas are more subtly dangerous than
fake facts. I agree with this statement because facts are facts and ideas can be changed several
times. When it comes to ideas, good or bad, some go beyond our expectations that we question
ourselves, Will it happen? or Will it work? . Anyone can come up with an idea and expose what
they created to the whole world. The Philippine Daily Inquirer states, ... they exaggerate an idea
and twist its logic beyond recognition. In fake news any nonsense is shown and said but, the
public can t distinguish was it true and what is false. If the news is about political issues or relates
to something about the government, it should be accurate. The article Real Confusion about Fake
News, Kappan explains, At present, we worry that

Privacy Concerns Over The Google Glass
The Google Glass is one of the most popular new examples of wearable technology [19]. The
Google Glass is a pair of glasses, prescription or non prescription, that has a camera, touchpad and
a display that can do multiple technological tasks: search, navigation, Gmail, Calendar, Now
cards, phone calls, text messages, photos, videos, and video calls [17]. Glass has yet to be
released to the public, but has been available for developers since February 2013 [9]. Although the
GoogleGlass is still a relatively new piece of technology [17], it certainly hasn t been lacking
debates on the legality and privacyconcerns of the device.
One of the most talked about points with Google Glass is privacy, which relates heavily to security,
both on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stop The Cyborgs believes is not just the fact that a Google Glass wearer can be recording without
your consent, it is that wearable devices socially normalize ubiquitous surveillance [10]. The
Electronic Privacy Information Center has also expressed its concerns, stating,
While individuals may not have an expectation of privacy in public, they do have an expectation
of anonymity. A person expects to be able to walk down the street and blend into the crowd. There
are many public settings in which a person does not expect to be recorded, even if they could be
casually observed. Some of these settings could be sensitive, embarrassing, or incriminating... [3].
The Google Glass, like a smart phone, has the capability of taking pictures or videos of anything
around you in real time [17]. Unlike most smart phones, the Google Glass allows two different
methods for this functionality to be completely hands free [17]. The first method is to wake up
glass by saying, OK Glass, take a picture [1]. The second method is to enable the Wink feature
[15]. By winking your right eye with this feature, Google glass will take a picture for you [15].
Essentially this means that instead of pulling out your smart phone, opening the camera and aiming
the phone at what you want to photograph, those with Google Glass may simply wink their right
eye at the object they wish to photograph [15].

Introduction:
The main aim of the present research is to study how Pragmatics works as a torch in the
appreciation of literature. Pragmatics is associated with the study of meaning as communicated by
a speaker and interpreted by a listener. This type of study necessarily involves the interpretation of
what people mean in a particular context and how the context influences what is said. It requires a
consideration of how the speakers organize what they want to say and under what circumstances. It

Making Music With Different Online Programs
Making Music with Different Online Programs: High School student tries to become a Record
Producer
1.THE INTRODUCTION
I ve listened to a lot of music in my 514,561,058 seconds of life.
Of course the beginning first few years of my life did not consistent of heavy articulation and
rhythm interpretation, rather it was to see if I could sing back the ABC s or mumble the Arthur
theme song to my sister.
Most of the music influence I have was harvested back when I was eleven. I listened to a wide
variety of genres of music from pop, to rock, to rap, to country, to concert band music, even to
Bollywood music as that s what would be playing in my home as my mom cooked food for all of us.
The audio quality of the music always interested me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I learned the correlation between blowing into an instrument and the sounds that come out.
This really changed my perception about music. I found myself enjoying the classical music that
I would be playing on my clarinet, but I always kept it in correlation with the new sounds and
technology music was sounding like. The new electronic based sounds created on the computer
with the melodies and movement like a classical piece set that a part for me. I think this was
generated by sounds from Kanye West and his albums such as Graduation, and 808s Heartbreaks,
even the blending of genres from Coldplay between pop tunes and classical music using
implications such as organs, bells, and synthesizers in doing so.
So what I ended up learning and continue to learn is I that like music really no matter what
condition it comes in. The examination of the work that takes place behind it demonstrates more
than what someone on the internet can tell me about how bad an album is or how weak the lyrics
are. Of course there s some analysis if a song is deemed as good or bad, but I always respect the
work that is done in order to produce music.
2.WHY I M DOING THIS?
I was given the opportunity to generate music on the computer. I wasn t necessary handed or forced
into doing this, but when the opportunity came, I decided to take it. My computer science teacher,

Pierre Bourdieu Research Paper
Framing the Debate: Bourdieu and Foucault
Pierre Bourdieu has constructed his theory on the concept of practice using the metaphor of a
game. He states that practice is a mode of generational meta theory of all forms of practices
constituting the game (Bourdieu, 1977: 72). Individuals enter the game with predetermined interest
and act in conformity to the rules of the game to achieve their desired goals. According to
Bourdieu, the rules of the game are subject to changes based on different social conditions referred
as fields (Bourdieu, 2000:183). Habitus, in turn, refers to the schematic concept through which
practice is generated. Practices generate habitus and are shaped by the condition of life in a certain
environment. Hence, specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bourdieu (2000:148) notes that habitus is the practical knowledge generated through its agent s
history. Habitus is generated by human living experience at a certain environment where social
relations are produced in interaction with a specific habitat. The special determination of habitus as
a structural orientation is explained in relation to the idea of fields (Bourdieu, 1984). The field and
habitus interact in a two dimensional relationship with the field structuring the habitus, and the
habitus in its turn structuring the perception of the field (Bourdieu, 1988: 784). This shows that
there has no direct influence on the field, but eventually, habitus operates in a dialectic relationship
between structure and the agent. Bourdeau sees the field as a multi dimensional space of positions
(Bourdieu 1985: 724) occupied agents who own power in alignment with, what he termed as, their
symbolic capital that is identified in the context of the specific material environment (ibid: 731).
This dialectic relation as noted by Bourdieu (2000:211) between habitus and the probabilities of a
social space provides the space for practice and and thoughts. He points out, one should not say that
a historical event determined a behavior but that it had this determining effect because a habitus
capable of being affected by that event conferred that power upon it (Bourdieu

Designing A Curriculum Using The Understanding By Design...
The focal point of this course was to develop a curriculum using the Understanding by Design
framework to assist students in achieving a deeper level of understanding the objectives.
Proposition 3: Teachers motivate, manage, and monitor student learning.
Indicator 3b: Teachers manage the learning environment by engaging students and organizing
instruction.
Indicator 3c: Teachers use multiple methods of for monitoring and measuring student understanding
and make informed decisions about instruction.
After examining the Understanding by Design framework by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe, I
have gained knowledge in how to develop a unit by working backwards. The development of a unit
is multi layered in its focus on curriculum, instruction, and assessment. As I construct my plan, I
need to first assess what the big ideas are that I want my students to be familiar with and why it is
important to learn about them. In our study of Mesopotamia, we look at how our world began with
the first civilization and the achievements that led to advances throughout history. The big ideas
framed as understandings that I want my students to know are that the locations of civilizations and
city states, in relation to specific landforms, affect development and technology achievements in a
variety of areas. Then I look at what essential questions are raised and what I want students to know
and be able to do. The framework looks to deepen student understanding and transfer that

A Stitch in Time Essay
Quilting has different meanings for different people, but all quilts have a unique appearance and
tradition. What makes art is its life pulsing and shining with the energy and intentions of its
creator. The art of quilting glows with a respect for all generations that have come before putting
thread, needle, and cloth together with vision and love (Wilson 7). Starting out in antiquity as a
necessity and a work of art, quilting has changed over time, but it is still practiced in a myriad of
cultures around the world. Although there are many types of quilting, there are three common
types identified as whole cloth, piecing, and appliquГ©. The whole cloth technique uses only one
piece of white fabric for the top of the quilt... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the modern word quilt is derived from the Latin word culcitra, it is reasonable to assume that
Romans who spoke Latin used quilted blankets. However, it was not until A.D. 1095 that
Europeans gained undeviating access to the technologies of Asia and Africa, and the process of
quilting became standard in Western Europe. Through their attack on Palestine, knights from
England, France, and Italy were introduced to the Palestinians light armor made of tough quilted
jackets covered with chain mail, flexible armor made of metal links (Wilson 16 17). Quilting was
introduced to America when the first settlers came in the Fifteenth Century. The first records of
quilts in what would become the United States come from wills and estate papers of the 1600 s.
The oldest surviving American quilt is probably the Saltonstall quilt, made around 1704 (Breneman
and Laurette). Many cultures have come together in the United States to include, for example, such
world noted quilt styles as Mexican American, African American, and Amish. It is not known
exactly when the first pioneer woman introduced her quilting to the Spanish American settlers, but
star quilt patterns became an element of Spanish American women s weaving quite early. Fabric
became more available in the 1800 s when the railroad arrived. Women found that they could make
warm bed coverings much faster than weaving by sewing together scraps of fabric with an old
blanket, with wool or cotton as filling.

  • 2. Fidel Castro And His Legacy 8 Chandler Dixon English 1101 Final Paper December 13, 2016 Fidel Castro and His Legacy Was Fidel Castro the Tyrant of the Caribbean or a Great Revolutionary? With the recent death of one of the Western Hemisphere?s most recognizable rulers, the question arises as to the legacy of Castro and his Cuba. Castro is well known among the Baby Boomers and Generation X citizens of the United States and Latin America. While in the United States we are taught one view of Castro as a tyrant, many citizens of Cuba and other third world countries and a very different view of Cuba?s greatest leader. The life of Fidel Castro is forever associated with the story of the Cuban Revolution. In modern times no revolutionary movement is more identified with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His revolutionary victory over Batista came very quickly. Many of the primary landowners, business owners, professionals, and clergy stayed in Cuba, hoping that they could influence the new government. They hoped to protect their considerable privileges they held under Batista, but that was not in Castro?s plan for Cuba. In 1959, Castro was appointed prime minister and began to introduce measures that would distribute the wealth and increase financial support in the rural areas of Cuba. In May, an agricultural reform act limited the size of most farms. The government also began to build hundreds of new schools and training thousands of additional teachers. Health care was extended to the entire population for the first time with the construction of clinics and hospitals in the countryside and plantation areas of Cuba. Education and health care are the two most significant contributions that Castro has left as a legacy. Fagen reported that Castro was perceived as a charismatic leader by a large portion of the Cuban population. He also stated that Castro?s ?voice and visage blanketed the island? (p. 278) in the early years of his reign. But the use of revolutionary tribunals to judge and then execute approximately 500 members of Batista?s police and security agencies was popular with the Cuban masses. This forced many of those who had been associated with the old regime to seek refuge abroad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Porsche Exposed 1) Do you believe that Porsche s management is appropriately concerned with stockholder wealth? Does Porsche s ownership structure work to the benefit or detriment of public shareholders? Although Porsche is publicly traded, the company is controlled by only two stockholders, the Porsche and PiГ©ch families. As the quotation by Holger HГ¤rter makes clear, the two families hold exclusive shareholder influence over management. An interesting point for class discussion is whether the families actually ever exercise these rights. It is not clear from the information or evidence presented that they influence or direct current management headed by Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking. They may simply agree with current leadership and therefore remain quietly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The objective would be to match dollar cash inflows from US sales with dollar cash outflows in US dollar debt service (principal and interest). Porsche has chosen not to use this approach most likely because it does not do debt. The firm has not needed debt to finance its operating activities and investing activities under the current management team (since 1993), and it also does not philosophically believe in using debt (see page 5 of the case). A good point of discussion with students, however, is that a company does not necessarily need debt to use debt. The benefits of leverage are well known, and although many successful companies today do not choose to use debt (Intel, Dell, Exxon Mobil, Microsoft to name a few), this does not necessarily prevent Porsche from revisiting this judgement. The benefit of using a financing hedge like dollar denominated debt is that it would take less active management and would not require a major outlay of capital out front like currency options require (option premiums). Current Strategy. The company has been hedging the US dollar long position by estimating its annual US dollar sales and hedging that exposure by purchasing put options on the US dollar (the right to sell US dollars for euros at a specific exchange rate). The company has been purchasing these options in what it refers to as a three year rolling hedge in which it hedges expected US dollar sales three years out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Narrative Essay About Canoeing Canoeing was always something I had wanted to do. Years ago, my family and close friends would go canoeing down the beautiful Cedar River in Osage, but I was always too young to go along. This past summer, while sitting in the shop with my dad and brother, on a hot and humid day, my dad suggested that we should go canoeingdown the Upper Iowa River. I jumped up with excitement as I was so happy that I would finally get to go canoeing. When Sunday came around, my mom, dad, Theo, and I headed to Cresco to go on my first little canoeing trip. Before we could just jump in the river with a canoe, we had to register. Upon arriving at the registering table, I could see the long line of anxious kids, like me, and frustrated parents, most likely like mine, standing in line to register. We spent a good twenty minutes standing in the hot rays of the rising sun over the opened, grassy area, near the banks of the river just trying to register to get a canoe. After finally being able to register, my family along with other strangers, piled into a van pulling a rusty rack carrying at least twelve canoes and kayaks each. I wasn t sure our canoes would make it to the river entrance after seeing how they weren t even strapped down as we were flying around curve after curve on a dusty gravel road. All the windows in the van were open making the ride to the entrance a little unpleasant. We could feel the warm, dusty air blowing at us from all directions. After surprisingly arriving ... Introduction The purpose of the paper that I am writing is to reveal accounts of excuses and justifications within motive talks basing exposure on any and all delinquent behaviors that politicians or those yet to attain power. Forgetting who it was that got them elected to begin with, indulgences in uncanny behaviors, there are those who are seen as wholly incompetent of being human let alone be in positions of power. These accounts are more than recent ranging from May 2015 to March 2016, showcasing how not all those who have been elected by the people with their false promises did not deserve the support they got. Able to blatantly disregard all rules, laws, regulations bending the law just to accommodate themselves, where anyone else would normally be prosecuted. Three accounts analyzing articles will be developed upon in this paper the first, condemning the condemner, the second, appeal to higher loyalty, and lastly, scapegoating. Each of these accounts is directly represented by their respective articles and how power absentmindedly leads to corruption. Definitions Section The commonsense definition of motives that I had before the course was that motives can be seen as the reasons that enable us to make certain decisions regarding our actions. To me a motive was or could be looked at as an incentive, something that could push a human in terms of having made a clear and definitive reason for undertaking or embarking on certain endeavors. • 11. Teaching And Learning For Students Many school systems believe that the only effective way for students to learn is through direct instruction. This isn t the only way, but it is the most common way throughout America. Direct instruction is the easiest way for teachers to instruct to a whole group and students are used to this type of instruction. But that style of teaching isn t exactly the best way for students to learn and retain information. One of the most effective ways for students to learn is through differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing different students with different avenues to learn. This style of instruction allows for the curriculum to adapt to certain needs and interests of individual students. (Bravmann) Making this instruction one of the most effective styles of teaching. It also gives both the teachers and the students more of an opportunity to learn in different ways that will help them to be successful in the long run. Since this type of instruction involves a ton of work many teachers don t use it because they don t have the time but it is really worth the time, especially for the students who don t learn like everyone else when it comes to direct instruction. One of the best examples of differentiated instruction comes from The Ron Clark film which is about who is a man from North Carolina who moved to New York and had the chance to change the lives of students through differentiated instruction. • 12. The Death Of Ivan Ilych By Leo Tolstoy In The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, he shows how the majority of society is selfish. Tolstoy suggests how even though there is so much selfishness in society, there are some exceptional people who do not follow social conventions and are the prime example of how people in a society should be. This paper will argue that being selfless is important in society and that people should deviate from individualistic behavior and concentrate more on the collective behavior. Through this careful examination it will be revealed that although a person should think about how to advance themselves in the social hierarchy, it cannot be their only goal and people need to combine it with it a more humanistic goal as well. According to Tolstoy, society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He introduces the character as Gerasim, the butler s assistant. He is content with the little that that he has. He is the only one in the story who believes that death will come to everyone. Other people in society think that death only comes to other people and will not come to them. This is exemplified by Peter, who feels that this had happened to Ivan Ilych and not to him, and that it should not and could not happen to him... began to ask with interest about the details of Ivan Ilych s death, as though death was an accident natural to Ivan Ilych but certainly not to himself (Tolstoy 9). Through the thought process of Peter, Tolstoy shows how society views death. Gerasim is also the only one in the story who shows empathy towards Ivan Ilych. He cares about other people. He doesn t feel that helping Ivan is a burden, but more as a way of soothing a dying man. As Ivan observed, He saw that no one felt for him, because no one even wished to grasp his position. Only Gerasim recognized it and pitied him. And so Ivan Ilych felt at ease only with him. He felt comforted when Gerasim supported his legs (sometimes all night long) Tolstoy( 42). This illustrates how Gerasim didn t mind his own inconvenience for the comfort of his master. Tolstoy portrays how most people in society have a lot more financial and social status, but they are missing the essential meaning of life. However, even though Gerasim lacks these advantages that other people have, he is the one who is the happiest. This is because he has all the components; selflessness, love for everyone, and a strong sense of empathy which makes up a meaningful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Evolution Of Primate Intelligence For Example Gestation... Primates are said to share at least ninety eight percent of their DNA with us humans. The reason why we re so fascinated with studying other primates is because we would like to uncover the hidden secret s that makes us so similar yet so different at the same time. They give us an idea of how our ancestors may have evolved and where do we begin to separate in our lineage and how far back do we go. They are many different elements that helped shape the evolution of primate intelligence for example gestation period, social organization and mating process. So what exactly is that makes it so different from our primate cousins? Our brain and the size of it! Our brain is more developed than our primate cousins, but how and why is the question. Let s begin by discussing the parts and function of our brains. The neo cortex is the largest part of the brain and the most important. This part of the brain is divided into four different sections: the temporal lobe, occipital lobe, parietal and the frontal lobe. These four sections are located on either the right or left hemisphere of the brain they are connected by axons that send messages to and fro between both hemispheres and to specific parts of the brain then to the body. • 14. Persuasive Essay On Animal Hunting The fact is that, despite the obvious immoralities of killing to just take a fur or tooth, it is one of the only things keeping the animals alive in Africa. That statement probably doesn t make much sense on the surface, but there are many more variables in the whole idea than just the killing of the animals by trophy hunters like poachers, the countries individual wealth, and the ability for the countries to protect the animals in their territories. It is common knowledge that many animals in Africa are going extinct and it is most definitely because of the involvement of people. For example, 10,000 15,000 free roaming African lions remain, down from 50,000 a decade ago and In 1900 there were about 100,000 cheetah worldwide, present estimates place their number at 10,000 15,000 with about one tenth of those living in captivity. Because of this many people feel that it is our responsibility to make sure that they survive, or at least continue as nature would intend. Well that is simply an unrealistic expectation, but we should try to make sure we don t completely ruin the ecosystems, and trophy hunting is the last in a long line of problems to be resolved, and as for now it is actually one of the only things helping certain regions who impose it properly. The money from this allows countries like Tanzania to pay to protect the animals from to more serious threat, poaching. A lot must be considered before creating a storyline that can affect the minds of children of such young ages because providing a false narrative or a one sided view may upset particular audiences. The way in which Disney s studios portrays the characters is how the audience will understand the story of Pocahontasand John Smith. Yet the Disney film contains an abundance of factual errors that can distort the viewer s ideas. The specific narrative Disney studios choses portray will be the one that will resonate in the minds of the audiences. The piece The Indians New World: The Catawba Experience Author by James Merrell and The Labor Problem at Jamestown by Edmund Morgan both contrast the stark differences between the Disney movie and the harsh historical reality. However, the film is important in that it brings attention to the racial injustices between Native Americans and the discriminatory white settlers. First, the Disney movie was ineffective in providing the audience a balanced representation of the history. The obvious differences were the downplay of the tensions between the Powhatans and English Settlers, and the absence of the gory deaths of innocent people from both sides. Interprofessional Collaboration Essay In the era of globalization, interdisciplinary teamwork and interprofessional collaboration has been strongly encouraged in healthcare practices, especially for those situations requiring emergency treatment. In this paper, the author discussedthe potential ethical consequences and recommendations of including currently popular virtual/computer based simulation as a medical educational tool for formal nurseand physician education programs. For the purpose of imitating the real emergency situations, the technical ability of simulation has been continuously upgraded by advanced computer programming or by artificially standardized human behavior. The computer assisted mannequins are even able to communicate , talk and provide various reactions and interactions by using predetermined language and settings. However, despite that sophisticated high tech programming brings convenience during the course of learning, practice and performance evaluation, the author points out that such normative approach cannot be qualified as any paradigm for real practice since preprogrammed language cannot predict real human thoughts and behaviors. Boeing adopts a very thorough, well planned out process to manage the project. The stages are defined clearly and tasks involved in each stage are carried out sequentially. The first stage of their approach is the project definition phase during which Boeing identified holes in the market not met by existing planes, assessed future airline needs, considered alternative plane configurations, explored feasibility of possible technologies and performed preliminary estimation of costs. Boeing had a clear project scope and put emphasis on airline needs (directly speaking with major airlines) prior to the design process. An auditing team is developed to further monitor each major step and make sure that each task is carried out properly; Boeing is smart enough to pick experienced managers who thoroughly understand how this industry/company operates as auditors so the review process can be carried out more efficiently and accurately. During the plane design process, there are four head engineers responsible for four technological areas and one chief engineer in charge of the plane program. The former is more concern about the technical aspects of the project while the latter is more concerned about practical aspects such as costs and scheduling; such approach is desirable so that people involved in the project don t get too caught up in one particular area. Rapid communication between some of the foreign participants and Boeing is emphasized greatly as there is a private telephone network connecting Boeing to each participant. • 19. Persuasive Essay On Wild Nature Wild nature is home for a huge number of animal varieties, a significant number of which are exotic or near extinction. Throughout recent decades, mankind has attempted to prevent the extinction of these creatures, secure the territory of these species, and by one means or another, minimize the negative consequences of the presence of humans. Be that as it may, there is another issue that has not been given careful consideration to this issue is keeping these outlandish creatures as pets. Although the caregivers of these pets believe they are doing no harm, in fact such a practice should be prohibited due to a number of reasons that not only endanger the animal, but also the person. In reality, no one, aside from maybe the wealthiest individuals, can provide for a wild creature and give it all its essential needs. Exotic creatures have extraordinary requirements. For instance, wild tigers require a substantial domain to wander and roam in with large amounts of fresh meat. A venomous Monocled cobra, which can be lawfully purchased in various states for a weak $100, will over and over strike when feeling in danger, the snake can feel threatened for multiple reason and most are unidentified until bitten. In a different category, a bobcat can chase its prey eight times greater than itself with the will and potential to rip its target to shreds. Chimpanzees and different primates require a ton of room for climbing, as well as ocean warm blooded creatures that require tremendous water bowls to swim and drink. Overall, the amount of time, dedication, and most importantly space, is too great for an ordinary individual to maintain. In addition to cleaning and entering the enclosed habitats, it is much too dangerous for a common being to provide and withhold. Along with the everyday dangers of exotic animals, these animals might also have serious diseases that the caretaker may be completely oblivious to. For example, the monkeypox outbreak that affected dozens of people in the Midwest in 2003 was so uncontrolled and unknown it almost became an epidemic. Also, many of these animals are carriers of zoonotic diseases, such as Herpes B, Rabies, Salmonella, Rabies, and Monkeypox, all of which are communicable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. The Importance Of Informed Attivation And Qualitative... Although it can be stated that participant observation and qualitative research overall has some unfavourable parts which make it not the optimum research method for making sure that informed consent is always respected for sociologists undertaking qualitative research involving human participants from diverse social and cultural groups (Dylan, 2017). One of these is especially present in fieldwork where participant observationis being used as the main research method is both the length and the cost of the research, this is because regular research is not being published as well as a large cost of publishing their extensive works (Dylan, 2017). Informed consent is the most important thing for sociologists undertaking qualitative research. Informed consent is when multiple conditions are met, these conditions are that an individual or a group of individuals must give their formal acknowledgement and permission to start a relationship with a sociologist who is doing qualitative research, secondly the individuals have to be a person or a group of people who are reciprocal in the relationship, linking to the second point is the last which is that an acceptable level of maturity has to be reached by both groups to create a reciprocal relationship between the two parties (Miller, Frank et. al, 2009, 4 9). The SWOT analysis is ultimately a tool which is used to analyze a business s current situation in the market place and aims to identify a strategy for successful development using the overlap between the internal and external factors. One of the major limitations is that it doesn t offer any end solutions to develop a business s strategic plans, but rather forms part of the process, as depicted in the above Diagram 1. It only acts as a tool to help a business with their strategic decisions, and cannot produce the final decision by itself. A full SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that could reflect priorities. It does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem because some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. It doesn t highlight or single out any of the more important strengths and opportunities and this can sometimes lead to favorable opportunities being lost among other mediocre ones. One of the problems that often arises when conducting a SWOT analysis is that the same factor could be placed in two different categories. This problem of ambiguity can cause disputes and confusion. This image centers on ones weight, height, hair color, and overall physical beauty. It is reported that these particular attributes may affect ones personal career. No one knows quite why this is the case, but there have been several studies that involve these works, linking whether there is a direct correlation with these results or if it comes down to a discriminative nature. Among some of the most interesting studies, are the ones that deal with bias in the workplace. According to a journal from Labour Economics, Blonde women with no work experience earn 6% 9% less than their non blonde counterparts (Dechter 2015). The findings show that blondes can have positive, as well as negative, effects in the workplace. The stronger negative effect of blonde hair color is commonly apparent in sales (Dechter 2015). This theory has proven to be true by the sheer presence of customer discrimination, thus showing a lack of blondes in the sales profession (Dechter 2015). Both negative and positive preferences for blondeness are in line with the prejudices of the blonde stereotype , which attributes a series of positive and negative characteristics to young blonde women but not to young blonde men (Dechter 2015). Based on a study in the UK in 2006, scientists analyzed 500 CEOs and discovered that blondes were very underrepresented compared to men and women with other hair colors (Dickinson 2012). This division is often unintentional, such as the making of communities through the real estate market. Buying and selling homes in order to try and get into a new neighborhood with similar ideals or beliefs. On the other hand Brooks describes that people try to be different from others. Such as the different lifestyles of the two very different political parties. We are indeed profoundly different, but is that really such a bad thing. Often in his essay, Brooks makes references to how individuals separate and divide themselves. We often think when we divide ourselves up it is intentional; that we do it because we are avoiding controversy. Brooks mentions that there are sometimes we as humans separate ourselves unintentionally, like buying homes in new developments (1). We often don t know what the neighborhood will be like, so we rely heavily on the characteristics that the few people living there share. Age of adults, age of kids if there is any, and what does the communitybelieve in; this is called housing discrimination. It begs the question, why does it matter if people try and form to a certain community. Not only is it beyond the length and reading level appropriate for younger audiences, it often covers what some parents might consider inappropriate topics. Imagine finding an illustrated children s bible containing graphic stories about talking to ghosts or children being burned alive as sacrifices to God. These are troubling stories that actually appear within the Hebrew Bible, which even some adults may feel uncomfortable discussing. Academic scholarship of the Bible, however, should not be influenced by such discomfort. This has led a handful of scholars to study these death related experiences within ancient Israelite contexts. The last thirty years have revealed at least two contemporary topics of conversations between scholars within this subfield: necromancy and child sacrifice among ancient Israelite religion. Typically, dialogue about ancient Israelites is framed among the broader beliefs and practices of peoples from the surrounding geographical region including the Canaanites, Egyptians, and other ancient peoples; these topics are no exception. While, there is also no consensus among modern scholars, the majority of academics appear to accept both child sacrifice and necromancy as a historical practice belonging to the worship of Yahweh. Nonetheless, these scholars continue to do so with varying degrees of beliefs about the particular conditions during which these controversial customs were performed. ... • 32. The Diversity Of Soil Invertebrates Introduction: The diversity of soil invertebrates is very important to our ecosystem, because most soil invertebrates are responsible for key soil processes such as nutrient recycling, nutrient retention, formation of soil structure, and decomposition rates. Invertebrates are one of the most dominant groups of animals in the world. Recent studies show that animals may constitute as much as 23% of the total diversity of living organisms (Lavelle et al., 2006). Common soil invertebrates include arthropods and nematodes. These soil invertebrates provide major ecosystem services. For example, ants, dung beetles, ground beetles, earthworms, and slugs aid in seed dispersal, which is important because seed dispersal is known to affect food production and nutrient recycling as well as decomposition rates. Bees, butterflies, moths, and ants aid in pollination. These invertebrates are very important because about three fourths of all plants are pollinator dependent and insects tend to provide most of the animal pollination globally. Without pollinators plant species would be more susceptible to extinction. In agricultural systems, invertebrate pollinators are responsible for the successful production of vegetables and fruits that maintain livestock production. • 34. Animal Rights Argumentative Analysis What makes hunting and trapping for sport is that people that do hunt or trap are seeing these animals as renewable resources. They can reproduce without the help of humans; however, that does not give humans the right to use them as a natural resource. It is a failure to not treat them with respect. One of the main concerns for defending hunting is that it is not different than what wildlife does to each other. The rights view sees that animals not moral agents, and have different morals than what humans have. Then only have to kill what they need to. For anyone that has grown up learning about Christian beliefs, the story of Cain and Able is taught as a way that if you go against God then you get punished. The way Ishmael explains it, is more about a difference of cultures. Able represents the Leaver culture, while Cain is a part of the Taker culture. If humans look at the story from the Taker perspective, they see how it is a perspective in the bible. The story makes more sense if it looked from a Leavers perspective. Most people are wimps and can not handle a loit of blood and gore, but not me. I m thick skinned and don t close my eyes at all. Everyone want to badmouth the villian, but he is critical to the success of a story. Without a villian, you just don t realize how great the hero is. The villian plays many important roles. Medical professionals have been using prostate specific antigen (PSA) screenings along with digital rectal exam (DRE) for many years to screen for prostate cancer. PSA was first identified in 1966 in semen, followed by the identification of PSA in blood in 1979. The PSA test has been approved for use since 1994 to detect early prostate cancer. Although most of the students seemed to pay no more attention to him during these stories, I would show particular interest. Because I yearned for that foregone Jewish experience. There was something so appealing to me about being a Jew in yesterday s Europe. I compared Rabbi Lipstein s stories about his early life to my own experiences. I found being Jewish life in this country to be dry and uninspiring. Individuals enter the game with predetermined interest and act in conformity to the rules of the game to achieve their desired goals. According to Bourdieu, the rules of the game are subject to changes based on different social conditions referred as fields (Bourdieu, 2000:183). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bourdieu (2000:148) notes that habitus is the practical knowledge generated through its agent s history. Habitus is generated by human living experience at a certain environment where social relations are produced in interaction with a specific habitat. The special determination of habitus as a structural orientation is explained in relation to the idea of fields (Bourdieu, 1984). The field and habitus interact in a two dimensional relationship with the field structuring the habitus, and the habitus in its turn structuring the perception of the field (Bourdieu, 1988: 784). This shows that there has no direct influence on the field, but eventually, habitus operates in a dialectic relationship between structure and the agent. Bourdeau sees the field as a multi dimensional space of positions (Bourdieu 1985: 724) occupied agents who own power in alignment with, what he termed as, their symbolic capital that is identified in the context of the specific material environment (ibid: 731). This dialectic relation as noted by Bourdieu (2000:211) between habitus and the probabilities of a social space provides the space for practice and and thoughts.
