Jay Gatsby
The novel, The Great Gatsby focuses on one of the focal characters, James Gatz, also known as
Jay Gatsby. He grew up in North Dakota to a family of poor farm people and as he matured,
eventually worked for a wealthy man named Dan Cody. As Gatsby is taken under Cody s wing,
he gains more than even he bargained for. He comes across a large sum of money, however ends
up getting tricked out of inheriting it. After these obstacles, he finds a new way to earn his money,
even though it means bending the law to obtain it. Some people will go to a lot of trouble in order
to achieve things at all costs. F. Scott Fitzgeralds, The Great Gatsby, conveys the numerous traits of
Jay Gatsbythrough the incidents he faces, how he voices himself and the... Show more content on

Gatsby is depicted as a pleasant gentleman even though he does turn to bootlegging as a resource
for money. He does all of this only to be reunited with the one woman he falls in love with,
Daisy. In the novel it is stressed that Gatsby and Daisy spent countless amounts of time together
in their youth which elucidates why Gatsby tries so hard trying to refabricate those moments.
He feels as if that is what will make him content. He wants to be with her because he knows of no
one better and he is bound to her because of what they used to have. Gatsby s love for Daisy is
expressed in various chapters of the novel: He hadn t once ceased looking at Daisy, and I think
he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well
loved eyes (90). This quote depicts how Gatsby is enthralled with Daisy and he enjoys that she
is impressed with his possessions because he becomes rich for her. The fact that she loves his
money and what he gets with it makes him believe she loves him as well as his belongings.
Another occasion in which Gatsby is seen as a pleasant person is when he watches Daisy from a
distance to make sure everything is alright after Myrtle s death transpired. The energy he puts into
making sure she is safe shows how much he cares and how sympathetic he is as a person. Another
minor example of Gatsby s kindness is when he sends a new evening gown to a

The Chrysler Group s Merger with Fiat
The Chrysler Group LLC initial public offering (IPO) was initiated by a trust known as the
United Auto Workers (UAW) Retiree Medical Benefits Trust to cover medical benefits for
retired workers who owned 41.5% of the company. The trust was created in 2007 as a way of
reducing Chrysler s financial liability of paying existing workers and former employees health care
costs and retirements. Initially, the trust was not supposed to have a large share of its assets in the
form of stock, but with Chryslerrunning out of cash the following year, and falling into bankruptcy
in 2009, the only asset it could offer was its own stock.
Fiat and Chrysler formed a partnership in 2009, when Chrysler emerged from Chapter 11
bankruptcy protection in the United States. Since then, it has gradually increased its ownership,
and combining its operations. Fiat owned 58.5% of Chrysler, and prior to the IPO offer in
September 2013, Fiat long wanted to acquire the remaining stake from UAW, but the two sides
could not reach an agreement over what is a fair price. As a result, UAW decided to file for IPO,
using a provision of the bankruptcy agreement that allowed it to require registration for an IPO.
However, after further negotiations, the Italian company settled a $4.35 billion deal to buy the
remaining shares (41.5%) from UAW in early January 2014, avoiding a planned IPO of the third
biggest American carmaker . As a result of the buyout, Chrysler became a wholly owned subsidiary
of Fiat.

Mental Health Issues Of Vietnam Veterans
Society does not accommodate the needs of Veterans in terms of housing and health services upon
returning to civilian life. Vietnam veterans are infamously known for being homeless and having a
host of mental health issues. Today s veterans have more support systems but the success of those
systems may vary from region to region. In the Puget Soundregion there are many homeless
veterans despite efforts made by communities and municipalities. Issues of access to health care and
inadequate community support intersect to form an underserved group of citizens who served in
the military. Those who serve in the military are the often purported to be the ideal citizens who
dedicate their lives to service. Veterans however are displaced and unable to fit within society
without an array of different services. Veterans have engaged in the duty to kill others for the sake
of the political community in order to secure their living and membership within society (Yuval
Davis, 2012:208). The political community then has a responsibility to provide for the soldiers
when they return to being citizens.
The culture for those who come from the military is highly disciplined and has an emphasis
accomplishing goals for the larger group. Veterans witness a low work ethic and see people
squander away their opportunity creating a difference in the culture between ex military and civilian
populations in daily life (Rodriguez, Ricardo, 2016:Personal Interview). The experience for

Vitamin D Deficiency
Background: Vitamin D deficiency is widely prevalent in the world. Several lines of evidence
support a relation between seasonal variations in serum vitamin D and higher relapse rates in MS
patients in winter.
Objective: To examine whether levels of vitamin D are associated with multiple sclerosis relapse.
Methods: In this study 60 patients in relapse and 60 patients in remission matched controls were
included.
Results: patients in relapse had significantly lower 25(OH) D levels than 60 patients in remission
matched controls (p= 0.004), Vitamin D insufficiency ( 10 ng/ml) was significantly higher in
patients in relapse compared to those in remission (p= 0.03).
Conclusion: The results of our study indicated that an association between lower serum 25
hydroxyvitamin D levels and higher risk of relapse among people with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Keywords: Multiple sclerosis, 25 hydroxy vitamin D
Introduction Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neuroinflammatory disorder of the CNS, that most
common affecting among young adults, particularly more prevalence in high latitude regions (1

remains unclear, but the prevailing thought is that MS is triggered by both genetic and
environmental factors and their interactions have been implicated in developing MS (6). Vitamin D

Roman s had an idealised view of what their politicians should be. From their ancestry to their
attributes. In this essay I shall be looking at Gaius Marius. How did he live up to the Roman
ideals? What are those ideals? I shall a number of these ideals one by one. But first I shall discuss
what ideals the Romans have and why. The easiest way to find out the ideals Romans had. Was to
look some tomb inscriptions. These are useful since the Romans would list the most important
things about this person. Since what is important in one s life is subjective. It tells us what the
Roman found important and therefore these tell us what they value. Giving us insight to what
Romans value in their politicians. The Scipionic Epitaphs can show us how and... Show more

Marius had two triumphs. He must of been a great military commander to earn achievement. His
military process is what got him his first consulship. Plutarch describes how his name and
reputation spread through Africa and he also notes Marius display of consummate courage
(Plutarch Marius 7) Your name and reputation don t spread for no reason; Marius must have had
excelled in the qualities most sought after in regard to war. Plutarch says how he showed the he
was: capable of going through what the soldiers injured, his foresight. The former gave him
considerable affection and loyalty from the troops , this loyalty lead to the soldiers writing back
to Rome, stating that The African war could only be won if Marius was elected consol (Plutarch
Marius 7) This shows that Marius must have excelled hugely at military process. The Scipio
Epitaph s list the father and offices the father held and military successes. This must have been a
compelling argument to the Romans. Plutarch notes how Metellus was visually displeased about
this (Plutrach Marius 8) Giving us further evidence to how people felt about new men. He had to
quickly get back to Rome. With his first consulship he enrolled a large number of paupers, and
slaves into the army (PLutrach Marius 9). This action is unpreceded and must have annoyed
some. This shows that he thought of new ways to use the Roman armies. Which was basically
taking the poor and training them. That training would appear to pay off. He got a triumph. It
must have been quite a shock to the Romans in some ways that a new man who becomes consol
comes into Rome celebrating a triumph. Q.Metelleus told Marius that he d support Marius being
consol with his son. An insult of sorts since Marius already 49 and that son about fifteen years
younger than him. To achieve something that hadn t happened in a long time and for it to be a new
man must have shocked a lot of people. Or at

Pride And Prejudice
The name of the book I have written my book report is Pride and Prejudice by the author Jane
Austen. The book was written in England between 1796 and 1813 when it was first published.
Pride and Prejudice is about how young people from different classes fall in love and break all
social norms by marrying each other. The story takes place in the late 18th century or the
beginning of the 19th century in the English countryside. Mainly in Hertfordshire near the
village Meryton where the Bennet family lives. The length of the period that the story takes
place is well over a year. In England, at the time when the story takes place, there is a great class
division. This class division is a key point in the book and all the problems are caused by it. In
the beginning of the story Mrs. Bennet gets new of a wealthy gentleman named Mr. Bingley is
moving to town. She gets very excited by these news and is eager to introduce her daughters to
this man. At a dance Mr. Bingley dances multiple times with Jane Bennet, the oldest daughter,
and they grow very fond of each other. Mr. Bingley s sister and his friend Mr. Darcy is also at the
dance. He is a proud man and looks at himself as superior to all other people there. Elizabeth grows

and Mrs. Bennet. She lives with her parents and four sisters; Jane, Lydia, Mary and
Catherine(Kitty) at the Longbourn House near the village of Meryton. Lizzy is the protagonist
of the story. She is not like most other women at the time, she is a strong, independent woman.
She is not eager to marry like her sisters Lydia and Kitty. She is also quite the opposite of her
dear friend Charlotte Lucas who married Mr. Collins just to have a comfortable home and
protection. Lizzy does not want to marry just for the sake of that she needs the romance. Another
example is when she walked through muddy field to see her sister Jane that was sick at Mr.

Role of the Quantity Surveyor
The Role of the Quantity Surveying Profession
The origins of the Quantity Surveyor (QS) profession can dated back during the 19th century
where from the earlier measurer , a specialist tradesman, who readied schedules for a building
project in which all of the construction materials and labour activities and were quantified. Based
on this information, competing builders could submit priced tenders. Because all tenders were
based on the same schedule of information, they could be easily compared to one another,
making it a much simpler way of being able to chose the best bid as it narrowed the variables
down (Powell, 1996). While the QS profession owes its origin to the measurer it was until the
1820s that as a profession the QS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The contracts and conditions differ from the other two sectors previously mentioned too and it is
these things that set this sector apart. This type of work for a QS is more method related than
building works with greater use of mechanical plants and temporary works. When a QS pulls
together Bill of Quantities there is usually few items of large quantities. Skills of a QS in this
field in particular are that they must be conversant with the varying working rule agreements, day
work rates and other documents for example the civil engineering procedure published by the
institute of civil engineers. Since the 20century began the QS has had a role within the civil
engineering contractors. Pre and post contract services are provided to civil engineer client by a
QS also.
Heavy and Industrial Engineering
With this type of work a QS will be working on such projects that include steel plants, off shore
oil and gas rigs, nuclear processing, production facilities and power plants to name a few. With
the economic downturn affecting all sectors of business of late a huge emphasis on cost control
has been placed upon these industries which is where the role of a QS is defined. In this industry
sector it isn t unusual to be referred to as a cost engineer as opposed to a QS. In this sector there is
a great focus on computerised measurement and cost admin systems

There Will Come Soft Rains Essay
There Will Come Soft Rains Essay A true piece of writing is a dangerous thing, it can change
your life. There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury, 1950 is an exceptional example of A
true piece of writing. Therefore, it must be thoroughly developed and ingeniously provocative;
furthermore, the text shows real emotive language to describe its realistic and stylistic themes
which can potentially change the readers mind state on the topic of the text. There Will Come

There Will Come Soft Rains is based upon the tragedy in Japan in 1945 which was the first

Why We Need The TSA Essay
After the events of 09/11/2001 the Department of Homeland security was founded and within the
department fell a new agency known as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The TSA
was instructed to secure all modes of transportation and they committee was instructed that they
wanted to see result soon. Additionally the Aviation and Transportation Security
Act required the
screening of passengers, cargo and luggage for explosives as the primary priority. Even though the
TSA is charged with the transportation security the primary focus has been Airport security. Long

The current screening method is the body scanner which has been reported on multiple times by
the news as it is consider invasive in nature. The screener is able to see the passenger s nude
image, but software updates have eliminated this providing only detection of metallic and
nonmetallic threats. The prior method of a metal detector which did not alarm staff if
nonmetallic threats existed allowed C 4 explosive (a clay type of explosive) to board the plan.
The body scanners are quicker than the former methods of a pat down , which every passenger
had to endure and were less invasive. This system will be used by the TSA until a better method
is discovered, which will provide faster screening, more privacy to passengers and better detection
of threats. The cost of this has rising over the years but it was the initial setup of the TSA in 2002
which cost the most since there was not an agency within this realm that completed these duties.
Security costs at airports have increased because of Transportation Security Administration
operations. It has also resulted in numerous passenger delays and additional cost. People likely are
spending thousands, if not millions, of hours at airports, which results in loss of productivity.
(Gaines Kappeler, 2012) The initial cost of setting up a security screening area that the airports was

The purpose of this paper is to discuss an alternate ending to one of the greatest battles in Texas
history, the battle of the Alamo. This paper will show how using Intellectual standards and critical

That instant when the Alamo fell, intertwined Santa Ana s fate with the Alamo. (LSJunction, 1999)
What if Santa Ana did not strategically place forces around the Alamo and reinforcements had
come to aid the Alamo? The Alamo was never intended to be a defensive position by any means,
but was meant to be a mission. The Mission San Antonio De Valero, established in the early 18th
century, was situated along the San Antonio River. By 1800, the missionaries were displaced
and their land was seized for military purposes. Occupying soldiers called the Mission turned
garrison El Alamo after the cottonwood trees surrounding it. Eventually the mission was
officially renamed The Alamo. First Spanish soldiers, then Mexican soldiers occupied The
Alamo. With only 200 Texan soldiers defending the Alamo, Santa Ana lost 600 soldiers during
the 13 day siege of the Alamo. Reinforcements would have turned the tide in favor of the Texans.

The Canada s Aging Population
The Canada s aging population, those 55 years and older, stands at 30.8% of the Canada s total.
This segment of Canada s population is growing due to demographic factors such as births and
deaths rates, health and immigration, and will continue to grow for the next 50 years. Because of
advances in medicine, health and nutrition, Canadians are living longer and are more active. Many
of them too, have more disposable income than earlier generations of aged population. They see
themselves as alive, active and accomplishing , and higher percentage of are working into older
age. They have significant and varied, current, new and changing needs for services, some age
specific, in the areas of sports, exercise, activity and active recreation. To date, there has not been
an adequate focus on addressing the sporting and activity needs of the aged in Canada by federal
or provincial governments nor by professional sports organizations. Why is that? What can be done
to change it?
What is aging anyway? The term aging refers to a complex process of biological, physical,
psychological and social changes in a person as he/ she ages over their lifetime. Typically, the
term refers to older adults and takes on the meaning of the process of getting old and being old .

Spanish Moss
Spanish moss is a vascular epiphyte that belongs to the genus known as Tillandsia. Epiphytes do
not typically harm the tree species that it resides on. Epiphytes such as Spanish
moss(TillansiaUaneoides) is not dependent on the tree for nutrients; however, it uses the tree for
mechanical support. It produces seeds that are transported by the wind which causes it to be found
in various locations; however, spanish moss may not survive living on some tree hosts and be
found more frequently on certain tree species than others. This is largely due to the fact that biotic
factors and abiotic factors contribute to the distribution of Spanish moss found in certain
environments. Biotic and abiotic factors determine both where an organism can live... Show more

This could be due to the increased amount of foliar minerals on the dying tree, so it is possible
that differences in availability of minerals in various tree canopies could determine the local
distribution of Spanish moss (Marks and Schlesinger 1977). The availability of minerals also
plays a crucial role with the amount of spanish moss found on cypress and hardwoods versus
pine trees. Pine trees do not generally leach nearly as much minerals as cypress and hardwood
trees do. Mark and Schlesinger inferred that cypress and hardwood trees possess a higher
percentage of Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium than pine trees(1977). The differences in
minerals, host preferences and other abiotic and biotic factors of Spanish moss could possibly
contribute to the lack of Spanish moss found in pine trees versus the amount found in hardwood

Administrative support in the form of a strong school principle and staff buy in were seen to be
instrumental in the implementation of a solid program by the educators who agreed to be
surveyed (McIntosh, et al., 2014). The findings showing that school personnel believe that having
a strong school principle who provides for and supports the use of SWPBIS tends to make sense
when viewed from the perspective of leadership. Schools where staff believe the principle to have
strong and effecitve leadership skills score significantly higher results in student behavior outcomes

The Naming Of Trachoma, Inclusion Conjunctivitis Disease
The naming of Trachoma, inclusion conjunctivitis disease, has come a long way to reach its
present name. Its naming originated from the appearance of inclusions; foreign substances that are
contained within the cytoplasm of cells. Why trachoma? The name is a transliteration of the
Greek word for roughness because of the typical white lumps that appear in the under surface of
the upper eyelid which cause a roughened sensation. Not only has the naming of the disease come
a long way, the history of trachoma goes back probably as far as the existence of man. The first
documented evidence of the disease was five to ten millennia ago when humans settled together in
fertile places such as ancient Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq to Egypt).... Show more content on

In some cases both phases occur simultaneously. We now know that trachoma is a tropical,
contagious infection of the eye which begins after an incubation period of five to twelve days and
is a major cause of preventable blindness in the world. According to a review published in 2013
approximately 1.2 million have lost their sight due to complications from the disease, and an
estimated 40.6 million people suffer actively. The disease is indigenous to 58 countries, primarily
in Africa, in which Ethiopia exhibits the highest rate of trachoma worldwide. Trachoma affects
children in particular since they maintain close contact with people around them and do not keep
their face free of secretions, yet the blinding effects do not appear until adulthood. According to
the description of the disease it is clear that Trachoma affects the visual system in particular. The
anatomy of this system contains several elements of which the accessory structures of the eye
include the following: eyebrows, eyelids, conjunctiva, lacrimal apparatus, and external eye
muscles. The function of eyebrows and the eyelids is protect the eyes; also the eyelids moisten the
eyes by reflex blinking. Within the eyelids are the orbicularis oculi and levator palpebrae superioris

POP ART: Promoting Capitalism Through its Social Movement Viewpoint
Pop Art is portrayed by procedures and topics drawn from mainstream mass culture like comic
books, promotions, and ordinary social articles. This movement is broadly deciphered as a response
to the thoughts of unique expressionism. Pop Art proposed to utilize pictures of prominent rather
than elitist culture in workmanship, accentuating the commonplace components of any given
culture, as a rule using incongruity. This paper analyzes the socially and stylishly subversive
character of the development that changed American art and culture in the 1960s. Giving a
generally contextualized perusing of American pop craftsmanship, this paper finds the development
inside the bigger system more of the social rather than political changes of that decade. What was
truly in question, this paper contends that pop art seeks to instil with good intention that through
such social movement elevates the bleak reality of capitalism.
Pop art is a craftsmanship development that rose in the 1950s and prospered in the 1960s, taking
motivation from sources in prominent and business culture, for example, publicizing, Hollywood
motion pictures and popular music ( Pop Art Around the World ).
It started as a rebel against the overwhelming ways to deal with craftsmanship and culture and
conventional perspectives on what art could (and should) be. Drawing on well known symbolism

Essay On Impact Of Poverty On Child Development
Poverty has a large impact on a child s development, the child will be affected in a number of
different ways involving their education, health, behaviour and their intellect. When a child lives in
a household where their basic needs are being compromised it is often due to the family having to
use the resources that they do have access to for other factors that contribute to the whole family.
As the family have limited amount of resources it is often found the children have less access to
opportunities than those who aren t living in poverty. This essay will explore the negative impacts
of poverty on a child s health within developing countries, there are two forms of poverty, relative
and absolute, however it is more common for absolute poverty to occur within these developing
countries.
Malnutrition is commonly found to be associated with poverty, often it is due to the lack of income
into the household which restricts the family to the food products that they can buy. The food that
the family are able to afford are often low in essential nutrients and vitamins, these food products
are cheap to buy and easy to cook. Malnutrition is defined as the lack of consumption of nutrients
which then leads to further health problems. Being malnourished can impact a child s development,
including weight loss, growth issues and cognitive issues. Having the correct nutrition intake is
required within childhood to ensure that the child develops in the correct way, it is extremely

The God s Script Short Story
The God s Script, by Jorge Luis Borges, is representing the structure of knowledge through a dream
of TzinacГЎn, the central character, and the narrative presence of the jaguar. Borges wrote the short
story to describe TzinacГЎn s dream of the god s script, a language that would help him fulfill his
destiny while he is imprisoned: his destiny is to be able to die in peace. TzinacГЎn is a magician
of the pyramid of Qaholom. He can survive torture in silence; he will never lose hope. In this short
story, Borges is trying to say the dreams reveal knowledge of things that can come to reality.

He knows he will not see daylight again besides the split second of light through the openings.
However, TzinacГЎn s gods also give him hope for his destiny in prison. One of his gods is
represented as the pyramid of Qaholom, that is burned and demolished. As he said, They struck
down the idol of the god before my very eyes, but he did not abandon me and I endured the
torments in silence (169). When he talks about the pyramid, he seems like he is more pleased that
his gods are here with him instead of completely disappearing. He clearly stated that they are not
abandoning him; even though he is being tortured, they do not leave his side. The impressions of
the things that are happening to him are like the things that happen to his gods. TzinacГЎn senses
that the things he thinks about represent furthering his knowledge, getting him closer to knowing
his god s script. He knows of the script, but wants more structured knowledge of and the
whereabouts of the script. As he stated, The fact that a prison confined me did not forbid my
hope; perhaps I had seen the script of Qaholom a thousand times and needed only to fathom it
(170). He reflects that it is only right that the gods are leaving access to the script to him to have

1). Clearly, we have a broad mission with ever growing capacity to provide healthcare to our
patients. A key insight about the financial health of UHS is that we are performing extremely well.
According to our latest financial statement, we are ever improving our numbers. Our net revenues
continually increased from $4,900,147 in 2010, to $8,065,326 in 2014. Furthermore, our total
assets grew during this same timeframe from $7,527,936 to $8,974,443, resulting in an impressive
reduction of our percentage of total debt to total capitalization from 66% to 51% (UHS Annual
Report, 2014, p. 41). Given our investment in several new facilities in 2014, we continue to see this
sustained growth in light of those investments as impressive and an indicator of a truly a healthy
organization.
Reaction to Financial Statements
I speculate that our employees, investors, and shareholders will be very pleased with our financial
health as reflected in the latest financial statement discussed above, and react in positive ways.
The employees benefit by the increase in revenue in the form of bonus and raises, of course based
on their performance. The investors will react equally positively since we have expanded our
investment portfolio by acquiring and opening new hospitals. Similarly, our shareholders will see

Victim Impact Statement Pros And Cons
Victim Impact statements (VIS) give the person or family the chance to state how they feel about
the offender and the acts that they committed. VIS can challenge the 8th amendment; however it
helps the jury to make a decision on if the person should get life or the death penalty. Most victim
statements are not all negative. The victim gets the chance to let the accused understand the hurt
that they cause the family or them. Consequently depending on the criminal they may or may not
care. The writer will report on what they believe to be the purpose and reasoning behind victim and
execution impact statements. The question is why is there so much controversy surrounding the
use of victim impact statements during trial? The writer will address the issues that make some
think VIS should or it should not be admitted in the court. The pros and cons of VIS will be

You can heat and cool just the rooms you choose. When a variable speed motor is combined with a
zoned system, your comfort is achieved, while providing a higher energy efficiency to a system that
is already extremely energy efficient on its own. Our technicians offer the installation, and the air
conditioning repair in Arlington, TX that you need.
How it Works
A variable speed motor does exactly what the name says it provides variable speeds of operation,
and delivers the speed required for the minute to minute needs. For example, when temperatures are
extreme, the motor operates at a higher speed. On the other hand, when temperatures are mild, the
motor operates at a slower speed, conserving energy. And reducing wear and tear on the motor.
Conventional fans operate at a single speed, consistently consuming a higher rate of electricity than
a lower speed fan would.
The variable speed fan differs from single, two or three speed fans, which operate at a set RPM
for each fan speed. A variable speed motor operates from 0 RPM to full speed and everything in
between. The fan sensors determine the airflow and dehumidification your home needs, and
provides it precisely. When increasing comfort and saving energy are important to you, consider the
benefits of a variable speed fan. Contact our HVAC technicians for additional information, or to

Drones are any of the various kinds of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) developed for multiple
purposes throughout the twentieth century. The United States military has made a few changes
to their drones, in order for them to carry out certain tasks in order to aid them in the battlefield.
One of many uses for drones are they can retrieve information from aerial viewing and relay it
back to headquarters. According to the article Drones provided by Gale Student Resources, a
military drone named the RQ 4 Global Hawk, Can cruise at sixty five thousand feet for a
maximum of thirty two hours while taking photographs and collecting data from the ground,
even through clouds, fog, and dust storms (Drones 2). Collecting pictures and video from the air
can be useful while trying to hunt down a hidden, wanted enemy, or to just scope out an area
that was once unknown to the platoon. This type of information would not only make the
magnitude of the mission easier, but would also let the leaders of the platoon know the right
way to handle the situation, in order to get the safest outcome possible for the soldiers. This is
not the only attribute a drone has surprisingly. The article Drones, goes on to say, The Predator

ground view, create combat support for American soldiers fighting against the enemy. In order to
target an area, ground control must navigate the drone through the air with a special controller,
almost like a video game. Once in the designated GPS area, all it takes is the click of a button to

Types Of Exorcism
Types of Exorcism
Prayer is a powerful tool in the battle against evil and is also a powerful tool in exorcism. When
we think about exorcisms, the first type of demonic activity that likely comes to mind is
demonic possession. Possession is the rarest form of spiritual activity but comes to mind of most
people around the world when we talk about exorcisms. Hollywood has capitalized on this type
of demonic activity and has created hundreds of movie titles based on this type of activity alone.
However, the most common exorcisms are not at all like one would witness on the big screen. In
fact, most Christians have probably said a form of minor exorcism prayer since the Our Father is
considered to be one. There are three main forms of exorcism that is practiced within the Anglican
Church: exorcism of objects, places and people.
Objects Almost any object, other than a holy one, can be infested.
Places Some examples of the cause of unwanted activity within a place, according to the Exorcism:
The Findings of a Commission Convened by the Bishop of Exeter, include souls of the departed,
human sin, place memories, poltergeist and demonic interference.
People If a person requires an exorcism, the most important thing to keep in mind is the safety of
the person affected and the safety of those around. A thorough psychological examination should
always be conducted first to rule out any natural underlying causes for the symptoms present. If it
is found to be a likely case of

Ancient Religion Vs Modern Culture
There are similarities in how the ancient and modern cultures view the heavens despite there being
many more differences. Like modern culture, ancient culture understood the earth to be
approximately spherical. About 2,500 years ago, Anaxagoras and Empedocles proposed
justifications for the spherical nature of Earth. When Earth is between the moon and the sun, during
a lunar eclipse, they recognized Earth s shadow on the moon. The shadow that moves across the
moon is clearly round which suggests that Earth is a sphere. Another similarity is the use of time in
making astronomical observations. The Mesopotamians measured time using waterclocks to
quantify the passage of time, and became fascinated by charting the occurrence of celestial events,

How Did The Byzantines Conquer Other Empires
The Byzantines created a weapon, Greek Fire, no person knew how to put the fire out. The
Byzantine Empire joined the 4th Crusade but in the end they lost many of their own land to the
Bulgarians. They joined the religion of Eastern Orthodox and when they conquered additional
empires they would make them convert to Eastern Orthodox. The Byzantine Empirewas the capital
city of Rome when Theodora and Justinian was the emperor. The economy in the Byzantine Empire
was skyrocketing, because they were conquering other empires. Every time the Byzantines

the walls would only be able to be destroyed if they got exploded by another super weapon. The
walls had many weaknesses it could be exploded ( Why Constantinople was so hard to conquer

without a really powerful weapon. The Greek Fire was one super weapon that could be able to
destroy the walls and no other empire had a super weapon to destroy it. The Byzantine Empire did
have a super weapon. The Ottomans destroyed the walls with a super weapon of their own which
through the Byzantines off guard. When they got through the walls, they conquered them and that
was the end of the Byzantine Empire. When the Napalm bomb was created the only one that knew

just hit them. The U.S. Chemical Warfare Service added rubber to the gasoline to produce a
jelly mixture which would burn longer, would be harder to put out and would stick to the
victim, causing fatal injuries ( Liquid Fire ). When the Napalm bomb was created it was
probably one of the strongest weapons in the world at the time and no one knew what it was

Race Relations in Modern American Society Essay
Race Relations in Modern American Society
Race relations are an ever prominent issue in American society. Controversies focusing around race
are a commonly seen smeared across the front page of the newspaper or headlining on the evening
news. The opposition is usually between a minority group and The Man, a colloquialism used by
many Blacks to refer to the overwhelming power stemming from white racist tendencies. This racial
tension can sometimes can cause the oppressed to band together against the oppressor. Many times,
the most prevalent link is between the African American community and the Latino community.

Mexicans were kicked out of their native lands and killed in wars over territory. Mexican American
today face many of the same acts of individual racism as Blacks but there is even more of a
similarity between the institutional racism that both groups face. Acts of institutional racism are
rules or laws set up in society to directly and systematically exclude certain people from obtain
total assimilation and often directly impact one s quality of life. Items such as zoning laws,
housing and employment availability and quality of education seem to be set up so that these
two groups will never be able to escape what is referred to as a web of pathology. Even more so,
Mexicans have to deal with institutional racism in immigration laws. Many theorists believe that
this is the reason Blacks seem to be confined to the ghetto and Mexicans to the barrio. Many of
those who have been unable to escape their surroundings have chosen to separated rather than
assimilate. To assimilate into one s culture one must adhere to the customs and lifestyle of the host
culture and take it on as their own. Some minorities choose to do this, those who do not separate,
often totally from the eyes of the majority race. Both Blacks and Mexican Americans can be
categorized as having members who have assimilated and separated. Theories about assimilation

Exegetical Paper On The Abrahamic Covenant
Covenants or divine promises are made between individuals, groups, or nations that have binding
power. It is Jewish belief that God established a special covenant with the people of Israel in which
he would bless them above other peoples of the earth for which they were required to strictly obey
his law. The Abrahamic covenant is an unconditional covenant which was made between Abraham
and God, and ultimately God and Abraham s descendants. The Abrahamic Covenant is paramount
to a proper understanding of the kingdom concept and is foundational to Old Testamenttheology.
There are many elements that include promise of land, descendants, blessing, redemption, and a
Messiah. This covenant is thought to be a very critical part of the Judaic religion and also very
critical to all the things they believe in.
Judaism has its earliest genesis in the story of Abraham and Sarah in the book of Genesis in the bible
. Abraham was the first man to follow a monotheistic religion, meaning that he believed in only
one God. God reveals himself to Abraham saying: Go forth from your native land and from your
father s house to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation and I will bless
you (Genesis 12:1 2). This was God s first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Judaism, the messiah is a person who will be the Jews leader when they attain their goal of
universal peace on earth. The word Messiah is an English version of the Hebrew word Mashiach

speak of a descendant of King David who will rule Israel during the age of perfection. The
Abrahamic Covenant finds its ultimate fulfillment in connection with the return of Messiah. It is
through Israel that God promised in Genesis 12:1 3 to bless the nations of the world. That ultimate
blessing will issue in the forgiveness of sins and Messiah s reign on

Auditor Independence Essay
Abstract. The article reviewed was Role of Independence in Ethics for SMP Accountants. The key
of the abstract is to emphasize the strength of ethics and moral behavior while conducting the audit
(pp. 305 306).
Introduction. The author studied professional ethics and auditor independence at small and
medium firms. The researcher compared ethics with values, and laid emphasis on the credibility as
one of the most important ethics element (p. 306). The concept of auditor independence and ethics
has significantly changed for the last century. There was a drastic move toward the neutrality in
reporting. The main objective of research is to analyze two terms independence of mind and
independence in appearance; and examine perceptions of independent auditors (pp. 307 308). The
study is important because it investigates professional ethics as the key of quality assurance
services. The researcher considered two problems of the study: shifts in regulations affect the
auditors behavior, and changes in settings and culture of businesses (p. 305).
Literature Review. The author used a systematic review of literature in the research. The researcher
examined studies of Gill and Cosseral (1996), The Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, and
Guidance Note on Independence of Auditors to analyze the word independence in depth. The
author stated that the term might bring a lot of confusion (p. 307). The term should emphasize that
the professional is free from financial relationships.

##cietal Values In Society In Amy Poehler s Writing Is Hard
In today s society, people often tend to shift towards the societal norms and don t ever want to be
pushed out of their comfort zone. While many people write about the struggles with these
situations, two authors seem to do a great job at explaining it in their own lives. In Amy Poehler s
preface, Writing is Hard, and in Tina Feys excerpt Bossypants, they both describe what it s like to
live with the difficulties and demands of today s society with Poehler s being more from the
work side and Fey s being from the beauty side. While both write about overcoming society s
mindset and believing in yourself in the two perspectives they present, Fey seems to do a more
detailed and thought out job with the writing in Chapter three: All Girls Must Be Everything
that more people can relate to. Furthermore, the two comedians do a great job trying to appeal to
their specific audience; however, Tina Fey seems to find more strength in it than Poehler.
Poehler and Fey are both well known for their comedic work and acting abilities in the society
meaning they have the credibility to talk about such topics they discuss in their excerpts, but
Tina Fey appears to use her fame status more to her advantage. She writes about teaching girls
that they are all beautiful no matter what the standards are people tend to get from the media.
For example, in Fey s excerpt from her book, Bossypants, she tells her readers of her personal
story with experiencing body awareness for the first time. Fey states in her excerpt from chapter
three of Bossypants, One afternoon a girl walked by in a bikini and my cousin Janet scoffed,
Look at the hips on her. I panicked. What about the hips? Were they too big? Too small? What
were my hips? Fey later shares her story about her daughter noticing the standards for hair color
by saying, When I asked her why she didn t like Snow White, she told me, I don t like her hair.
Not even three years old, she knew that yellow hair is king (Bossypants). This proves to the
audience that not only is dealing with body image a problem now with the younger generation,
but, also, before Tina Fey even rose to fame. She is able to appeal to the readers emotions by using
her young daughter s story because

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Haematoxylin
Abstract
Haematoxylin is a natural dye which stains poorly unless it is combined with different metallic
salts known as mordants. A mordant is a metal with a valence of at least two. The most common
metals used in histology are aluminum and ferric iron (both have a valence of three).
The combination of haematoxylin and a mordant is called a haematoxylin lake. There are several
haematoxylin lakes and they vary in colour. The different types of haematoxylin lakes are: Alum
haematoxylin solutions
An effective nuclear staining alum haematoxylin solution requires three main items: the dye
(haematoxylin or haematein), mordant (an aluminum salt) and the solvent (water being the
simplest). These solutions contain potassium alum or ammonium alum as ... Show more content on

Hence, it is useful for photomicrography. This technique uses iron alum as a differentiating agent
and as an oxidizing agent which oxidizes haematoxylin to haematein. The staining time is 30 to 45
minutes at a temperature of 56в„ѓ. Heidenhain s iron haematoxylin is used to demonstrate
mitochondria, chromatin, chromosomes, nucleoli, centrioles, nuclear membrane, cross striations of
muscle fibers and myelin.
Weigert s iron haematoxylins
A stain solution used for staining cell nuclei when demonstrating collagen and muscle with the van
Gieson stain and trichrome connective tissue stains. The mordant is acidified ferric chloride and
the staining time is 20 to 30 minutes. Wiegert s iron haematoxylin stains cell nuclei on sections
which are decolourised by the acid staining reagents and were previously treated with a solution of
haematoxylin which contains potassium alum or ammonium alum as the mordant.
Verhoeff s iron haematoxylins
An elastic tissue stain which is prepared immediately before use due to its rapid oxidation of
haematoxylin. The staining time is 25 to 60 minutes. The mordant used is ferric chloride and it is

Wide Sargasso Sea And Banana Boat Song
In both of my works, Wide Sargasso Sea and Banana Boat Song (Day O) we see the conflict with
racial issues and social fairness. In Wide Sargasso Sea, Antoinette is torn between two worlds; the
blacks and whites, between former slaves and former slave owners. She has a mixture of
conflicting feelings for black people. Antoinette wants to be accepted by them, and feels pity,
hatred, and desire for isolation. I can relate in a sense that I wish to belong as well. The color of
my skin should not define my overall character. I am a human being, the same as everyone else. I
don t however, give in to hatred segregation. Antoinette does not completely hate them, despite

My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke Essay
Any interpretation of this story is due to the reader s personal emotions and feelings toward his or
her own Papa. This story can be either a dance between him and his father, thus bringing them
closer together. However, there is a darker side of this poem, on this side it is an unsettling fight
between a boy and his drunken father and all the intimacy of the dancedoes not make an impression
on the reader and is overshadowed by the anger they feel. Theodore Roethke manipulates our
emotions in this poem using literary convention. A Waltz is a lighthearted, easily accessible

The whiskey on his breath is not necessarily negative due to the factors of the working class
culture in 1948 when this poem was published. To add on to this view that he is a hard worker
with knuckles that are battered and a palm caked hard by dirt, the man is a grafter who works long
and hard for the family he loves. The overwhelming joy he feels when he sees his son makes him
want to dance in a waltz. Due to him and his father s height difference, the son s ear scraped on
the father s belt buckle. The longer they dance the happier he get. This causes him to become
more and more clumsier due to his drunken state, and it starts to become too much for the son the
handle and begins to become very rough. This dance becomes so rough that the dancing causes
the pans to fall to the floor and causes the son to, hang on like death to his father. The beating on
his son s head is part of joy at the music he hears in his head. The mother remains an outsider to
what is actually happening in front of her and is naturally unhappy due to the random disturbance
the father makes. After the dance is over the son goes to bed and clings to his father s shirt in love
and admiration for him. The negative side of this poem is an abusive drunken father. This is
prevalent to his father s obvious drunkenness. This is tied together with the image of a knuckle,
beating, belt buckle, and negativity in the word death. These

  • 2. Jay Gatsby The novel, The Great Gatsby focuses on one of the focal characters, James Gatz, also known as Jay Gatsby. He grew up in North Dakota to a family of poor farm people and as he matured, eventually worked for a wealthy man named Dan Cody. As Gatsby is taken under Cody s wing, he gains more than even he bargained for. He comes across a large sum of money, however ends up getting tricked out of inheriting it. After these obstacles, he finds a new way to earn his money, even though it means bending the law to obtain it. Some people will go to a lot of trouble in order to achieve things at all costs. F. Scott Fitzgeralds, The Great Gatsby, conveys the numerous traits of Jay Gatsbythrough the incidents he faces, how he voices himself and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gatsby is depicted as a pleasant gentleman even though he does turn to bootlegging as a resource for money. He does all of this only to be reunited with the one woman he falls in love with, Daisy. In the novel it is stressed that Gatsby and Daisy spent countless amounts of time together in their youth which elucidates why Gatsby tries so hard trying to refabricate those moments. He feels as if that is what will make him content. He wants to be with her because he knows of no one better and he is bound to her because of what they used to have. Gatsby s love for Daisy is expressed in various chapters of the novel: He hadn t once ceased looking at Daisy, and I think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well loved eyes (90). This quote depicts how Gatsby is enthralled with Daisy and he enjoys that she is impressed with his possessions because he becomes rich for her. The fact that she loves his money and what he gets with it makes him believe she loves him as well as his belongings. Another occasion in which Gatsby is seen as a pleasant person is when he watches Daisy from a distance to make sure everything is alright after Myrtle s death transpired. The energy he puts into making sure she is safe shows how much he cares and how sympathetic he is as a person. Another minor example of Gatsby s kindness is when he sends a new evening gown to a ... • 3. The Chrysler Group s Merger with Fiat The Chrysler Group LLC initial public offering (IPO) was initiated by a trust known as the United Auto Workers (UAW) Retiree Medical Benefits Trust to cover medical benefits for retired workers who owned 41.5% of the company. The trust was created in 2007 as a way of reducing Chrysler s financial liability of paying existing workers and former employees health care costs and retirements. Initially, the trust was not supposed to have a large share of its assets in the form of stock, but with Chryslerrunning out of cash the following year, and falling into bankruptcy in 2009, the only asset it could offer was its own stock. Fiat and Chrysler formed a partnership in 2009, when Chrysler emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States. Since then, it has gradually increased its ownership, and combining its operations. Fiat owned 58.5% of Chrysler, and prior to the IPO offer in September 2013, Fiat long wanted to acquire the remaining stake from UAW, but the two sides could not reach an agreement over what is a fair price. As a result, UAW decided to file for IPO, using a provision of the bankruptcy agreement that allowed it to require registration for an IPO. However, after further negotiations, the Italian company settled a $4.35 billion deal to buy the remaining shares (41.5%) from UAW in early January 2014, avoiding a planned IPO of the third biggest American carmaker . As a result of the buyout, Chrysler became a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mental Health Issues Of Vietnam Veterans Society does not accommodate the needs of Veterans in terms of housing and health services upon returning to civilian life. Vietnam veterans are infamously known for being homeless and having a host of mental health issues. Today s veterans have more support systems but the success of those systems may vary from region to region. In the Puget Soundregion there are many homeless veterans despite efforts made by communities and municipalities. Issues of access to health care and inadequate community support intersect to form an underserved group of citizens who served in the military. Those who serve in the military are the often purported to be the ideal citizens who dedicate their lives to service. Veterans however are displaced and unable to fit within society without an array of different services. Veterans have engaged in the duty to kill others for the sake of the political community in order to secure their living and membership within society (Yuval Davis, 2012:208). The political community then has a responsibility to provide for the soldiers when they return to being citizens. The culture for those who come from the military is highly disciplined and has an emphasis accomplishing goals for the larger group. Veterans witness a low work ethic and see people squander away their opportunity creating a difference in the culture between ex military and civilian populations in daily life (Rodriguez, Ricardo, 2016:Personal Interview). The experience for Ricardo, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How did he live up to the Roman ideals? What are those ideals? I shall a number of these ideals one by one. But first I shall discuss what ideals the Romans have and why. The easiest way to find out the ideals Romans had. Was to look some tomb inscriptions. These are useful since the Romans would list the most important things about this person. Since what is important in one s life is subjective. It tells us what the Roman found important and therefore these tell us what they value. He must of been a great military commander to earn achievement. His military process is what got him his first consulship. Plutarch describes how his name and reputation spread through Africa and he also notes Marius display of consummate courage (Plutarch Marius 7) Your name and reputation don t spread for no reason; Marius must have had excelled in the qualities most sought after in regard to war. Plutarch says how he showed the he was: capable of going through what the soldiers injured, his foresight. The former gave him considerable affection and loyalty from the troops , this loyalty lead to the soldiers writing back to Rome, stating that The African war could only be won if Marius was elected consol (Plutarch Marius 7) This shows that Marius must have excelled hugely at military process. The Scipio Epitaph s list the father and offices the father held and military successes. This must have been a compelling argument to the Romans. Plutarch notes how Metellus was visually displeased about this (Plutrach Marius 8) Giving us further evidence to how people felt about new men. He had to quickly get back to Rome. With his first consulship he enrolled a large number of paupers, and slaves into the army (PLutrach Marius 9). This action is unpreceded and must have annoyed some. This shows that he thought of new ways to use the Roman armies. Which was basically taking the poor and training them. That training would appear to pay off. He got a triumph. It must have been quite a shock to the Romans in some ways that a new man who becomes consol comes into Rome celebrating a triumph. Q.Metelleus told Marius that he d support Marius being consol with his son. An insult of sorts since Marius already 49 and that son about fifteen years younger than him. To achieve something that hadn t happened in a long time and for it to be a new man must have shocked a lot of people. Or at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Pride And Prejudice The name of the book I have written my book report is Pride and Prejudice by the author Jane Austen. The book was written in England between 1796 and 1813 when it was first published. Pride and Prejudice is about how young people from different classes fall in love and break all social norms by marrying each other. The story takes place in the late 18th century or the beginning of the 19th century in the English countryside. Mainly in Hertfordshire near the village Meryton where the Bennet family lives. The length of the period that the story takes place is well over a year. In England, at the time when the story takes place, there is a great class division. This class division is a key point in the book and all the problems are caused by it. In the beginning of the story Mrs. Bennet gets new of a wealthy gentleman named Mr. Bingley is moving to town. She gets very excited by these news and is eager to introduce her daughters to this man. At a dance Mr. Bingley dances multiple times with Jane Bennet, the oldest daughter, and they grow very fond of each other. Mr. Bingley s sister and his friend Mr. Darcy is also at the dance. She is also quite the opposite of her dear friend Charlotte Lucas who married Mr. Collins just to have a comfortable home and protection. Role of the Quantity Surveyor The Role of the Quantity Surveying Profession The origins of the Quantity Surveyor (QS) profession can dated back during the 19th century where from the earlier measurer , a specialist tradesman, who readied schedules for a building project in which all of the construction materials and labour activities and were quantified. Based on this information, competing builders could submit priced tenders. Because all tenders were based on the same schedule of information, they could be easily compared to one another, making it a much simpler way of being able to chose the best bid as it narrowed the variables down (Powell, 1996). Skills of a QS in this field in particular are that they must be conversant with the varying working rule agreements, day work rates and other documents for example the civil engineering procedure published by the institute of civil engineers. There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury, 1950 is an exceptional example of A true piece of writing. Therefore, it must be thoroughly developed and ingeniously provocative; furthermore, the text shows real emotive language to describe its realistic and stylistic themes which can potentially change the readers mind state on the topic of the text. There Will Come Soft Rains may seem to be about a house and how everything is automated but that is just a shell holding a larger scale meaning, a meaning true to the real world. Nuclear devastation within There Will Come Soft Rains is based upon the tragedy in Japan in 1945 which was the first exposure to nuclear power the world had ever seen, and this piece of writing captures the destruction of homes and lives in the truest possible way. The body scanners are quicker than the former methods of a pat down , which every passenger had to endure and were less invasive. This system will be used by the TSA until a better method is discovered, which will provide faster screening, more privacy to passengers and better detection of threats. The cost of this has rising over the years but it was the initial setup of the TSA in 2002 which cost the most since there was not an agency within this realm that completed these duties. While many people write about the struggles with these situations, two authors seem to do a great job at explaining it in their own lives. In Amy Poehler s preface, Writing is Hard, and in Tina Feys excerpt Bossypants, they both describe what it s like to live with the difficulties and demands of today s society with Poehler s being more from the work side and Fey s being from the beauty side. While both write about overcoming society s mindset and believing in yourself in the two perspectives they present, Fey seems to do a more detailed and thought out job with the writing in Chapter three: All Girls Must Be Everything that more people can relate to. Furthermore, the two comedians do a great job trying to appeal to their specific audience; however, Tina Fey seems to find more strength in it than Poehler. Poehler and Fey are both well known for their comedic work and acting abilities in the society meaning they have the credibility to talk about such topics they discuss in their excerpts, but Tina Fey appears to use her fame status more to her advantage. She writes about teaching girls that they are all beautiful no matter what the standards are people tend to get from the media. For example, in Fey s excerpt from her book, Bossypants, she tells her readers of her personal story with experiencing body awareness for the first time. Fey later shares her story about her daughter noticing the standards for hair color by saying, When I asked her why she didn t like Snow White, she told me, I don t like her hair. Not even three years old, she knew that yellow hair is king (Bossypants). This proves to the audience that not only is dealing with body image a problem now with the younger generation, but, also, before Tina Fey even rose to fame.
