We come from eighty countries. We are men and women, young and old, working side by side
with respect and shared goals. We are active in community organizations, religious and educational
institutions; we are representatives of governments, NGOs and the United Nations. We speak
many languages, we look like the diverse peoples of the world and carry their diverse beliefs and
religions, cultures, physical abilities, and sexual and gender identities. We are indigenous peoples,

We know how critical it is that institutions traditionally controlled by men reshape their policies
and priorities to support gender equality and the well being of women, children, and men. And we
know that a critical part of that is to reshape the world of men and boys, the beliefs of men and
boys, and the lives of men and boys.
PART TWO: THE PLAN OF ACTION
The Evidence Base is There: New initiatives and programs to engage men and boys in gender
equality provides a growing body of evidence that confirms it is possible to change men s gender
related attitudes and practices. Effective programs and processes have led men and boys to stand
up against violence and for gender equality in both their personal lives and their communities.
These initiatives not only help deconstruct harmful masculinities, but reconstruct more gender
equitable ones. Global research makes it increasingly clear that working with men and boys can
reduce violence, improve relationships, strengthen the work of the women s movement, improve
health outcomes of women and men, girls and boys, and that it is possible to accelerate this change
through deliberate interventions.
Working with the Women s Movement: The work with men and boys stems from and honors the
pioneering work and ongoing leadership of the women s movement. We stand in solidarity with the
ongoing struggles for women s empowerment and rights in our commitment to contribute to the
myriad efforts to achieve

Industrial Development And Population Growth
Industrial development and population growth have created a surge in global demand for energy.
The tension in the Middle East and the sharp rise in oil prices since the 1990 s had Western
countries like the US scrambling to secure alternative energy sources. While solar and wind energy
is flourishing, energy industries have pursued more aggressive means of tapping the earth s
resources. Continued mining, drilling, and especially hydraulic fracturing have been a game
changer for the US. Although industrialized energy developmentis making great strides in
harnessing the earth s energy resources, it is also threatening the natural environment and the
quality of life in many communities.
Fracking refers to hydraulic or hydro fracturing of rock formations to stimulate and extract natural
gas and oil. The process involves drilling down through sedimentary rocks for thousands of feet,
then sideways for miles, pumping millions of gallons of water, sand, and chemicals at high
pressure to open fractures in the rocks, allowing gas and oil to flow. This relatively new
technology is also being used for resource exploration by geothermal developers. Prior to
fracking, it was too expensive to exploit shale gas , but it is now being viewed as a way for the
United States (US) to become independent from foreign oil. Fracking also brings a host of new
public health and environmental concerns; drilling chemicals and fracking fluids are highly toxic
and include known carcinogens.

A conservation easement is a legal, binding agreement between a landowner and a conservation
organization that restricts the development and future use of the land to achieve a conservation
objective. Each easement is unique to the parcel it is designed to protect and to the needs of the
landowner donating the easement. There are term easements that exist in some states but not
Colorado. A conservation easementof the land is binding with the landowners and future owners as

Moonwalk Paintings
The first painting that caught my attention was Moonwalk made in 1987 by Andy Warhol. This
painting was one of Andy Warhol s final work. There are several versions of this painting, a
yellow version and a pink version. The Yellow version of the Moonwalk painting looks as if the
sun is reflecting off of the astronaut and the flag. The pink version gives a feeling of warmth like
some sort of heat signature is appearing off of the painting itself. The painting gives off a an
allusion of a near three dimensional form with its overlapping of the line and color on the astronaut
the flag and the surface of the moon.

Majestic Mombassa As I lay in the comfort of the large, elegant hotel room, the bright morning
sunlight streams effortlessly through the spotless sliding glass doors. The white sheets lay
gently over me as I begin to stretch and blink as the sun finally finds its way to my eyes and
awakens me with the feeling of a large warm hand brushing against my face. I lay there feeling

equality with white men. Historic leaders like Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and
Frederick Douglass, are only three people, but influenced an entire nation to help make a great

In the experiment the magnesium reacts with the hydrochloric acid to create magnesium chloride
and hydrogen. The balanced formula for this is: Mg(s) + 2HCL(aq) MgCl2(aq) + H2(g)

Magnesium will react with hydrochloric acid, because it is higher in the reactivity series than

decreased or increased.
The first one is to see what will happen if I change the temperature of the solution. As the
temperature increases the speed and the power at which the acid particles hit each other increases,
making the number of successful collisions with the magnesium strip increase.
The second one is to show how increasing the mass of the magnesium strip can increase the rate of
reaction slightly because of the increased surface area but it is only slightly increased on the sides
and so this is proportional to the rate of reaction of the original diagram. It is only slower than the
original reaction because there is more of it to react with and produces more of the products.
Figure 3 shows the concentration of the hydrochloric acid increased so there are more particles to
have more successful collisions. This is a faster reaction then the original reaction.
The final reaction has the same amount of particles of acid and the magnesium, but the magnesium
has been cut to increase the surface area. This makes the acid particles more likely to have more
successful collisions each second than the original reaction.

Library Donation Books
This summer I spent hours on the library s third floor, a large area used for storage since the
1970 s; no air conditioning but lots of dust. I sorted through 177 boxes of books that were donated
to the library. Library staff are not following the current donation policy and all donated books are
given to the Friends BookSale. Many books in my Adult Fiction section are in well loved condition
with water damage, broken spines and torn pages. Sorting through the boxes led to the addition of
300 adult fiction titles not owed by the library, example added a new copy of Odd Thomas by Dean
Koontz. The donationbooks were used to replace 450 loved books with newer copies, example
replaced a water damaged, broken spine copy of The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah with a brand
new copy. My frustration leads me to search for information about how to handle book donations in
a public library. I searched the Library and Information Source link on Clarion s online library page
using the term handling gift or donated books . I selected Kay Ann Cassell s article Handling gift
books in libraries: A view from the US. Cassell s article provides an overview of guidelines to be
used in creating a gift book policy. A gift or donated book policy should be part of the library s

Rip is a person who would rather starve on a penny than work for a pound, and he takes the world
easy. In the book on page 311 it says The great error in Rip s composition was an insuperable

One of the greatest challenges of moral reasoning involves deciding where to draw the line
between an ethical and unethical behavior. Morals help us determine what actions are right and
wrong. We must consider all the good and bad consequences when deciding if an action is right
or wrong. While some actions are clearly right, others are clearly wrong; sometimes our judgment
may become cloudy, causing it to be difficult to make the right decision, and that s when there is a
conflict of interest. Conflict of interest always leads to bad outcome because your judgment is
being influenced; it s an unethical behavior. One moral dilemma we come across in today s society
is bribery. Bribery is the practice of extortion; bribery and extortion have many elements in
common therefore it can easily be misunderstand as the other. Bribery is the offering of anything
of value, such as gifts or money, in exchange to do something illegally; it is a way of getting
