This thesis studied the impact of subtitles on English language acquisition in 49 Norwegian high school students. The students were split into two groups - those learning English and those who had already learned it. The study found that using subtitled audiovisual materials had a positive effect, with both groups improving their vocabulary and comprehension. The students learning English performed better on word definition and lexical tasks, while those who already knew English saw greater gains in comprehension.

The purposes of this research were: 1) to study and compare the English speaking ability before and after learning through Jigsaw and Problem Solving Tasks of undergraduate students at Kalasin University, and 2) to study the students’ attitudes towards teaching English speaking using Jigsaw and Problem Solving Tasks. The sample consisted of 23first-year undergraduate students at Kalasin University, Kalasin Province, in the second semester of the academic year 2019. The research was a one group pretest-posttest design. The research instruments included 12 lesson plans, an English speaking ability test and an attitude questionnaire. The experiment lasted 12 weeks, 2 hours a week, or 24 hours for all. The mean, percentage, standard deviation and t-test for Dependent Samples were used for data analysis. The findings of this research were as follows: 1) The students’ pretest and posttest English speaking ability scores were 25.04 % and 83.19% respectively. The students’ posttest score was found significantly higher than that of the pretest at the .01 level. 2) The students’ attitude towards teaching English speaking using Jigsaw Task was at a very good level.

A case study on college english classroom discourse
This document analyzes classroom discourse in college English classes in China. Abstract: Good performance in English opens doors to many lucrative careers locally and internationally. Teaching reading and success in reading ability is therefore important for young learners. However, the ability for teachers to teach reading is not well documented. Little research has been conducted on teachers’ competence and attitudes towards reading ability among learners at preschool level. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of teachers’ competence on reading ability among pre-school children in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. The theory of planned behaviour and education production function theory guided the study. The study employed the mixed methods approach. An explanatory research design was used. The target population was all the 1252 pre-school teachers in Elgeyo Marakwet County Kenya. Multistage random sampling technique was used to select the participating schools and individual teachers. A sample size of 294 schools was used. The instruments utilised were questionnaires, and observation schedules. Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study findings revealed that there are more female pre-school teachers than male. It was also found that most of the pre-school teachers were inexperienced. Results indicated that the teachers’ competency in English phonology was below average. The study results indicated that the pre-school children reading ability was poor. Teacher competency in English phonology was found to have a positive significant effect on reading ability of pre-school children (β= .307, p<0.05). The study concluded that pre-school teaching is a gendered profession characterized by low competency in English phonology. It was also concluded that teacher competency in English phonology has a bearing on the reading ability of pre-school children. The study therefore recommended that pre-school teachers be trained to improve their competency in English phonology as to improve the reading ability of pre-school children.

Students will also be able to identify the key components and subjects covered, such as agriculture, home economics, industrial arts, and information and communication technology.

Students will describe the characteristics and traits of successful entrepreneurs, including their roles and responsibilities, and discuss the broader economic and social impacts of entrepreneurial activities on both local and global scales.

- 1. Experimental Research: The Role of Subtitles in a Second language Acquisition By Lisa Maria Groon Aurstard
- 2. Analysis • This is a thesis based on the Experimental Method. • This thesis is base in Experimental research was conducted with 49 Norwegian High-school students. • The purpose of this research is if the students who are learning English vs. The Students who already learned the language had an impact in his learning process and or comprehension (in case of the second group). • The aim of this research is to provide further information about the role of subtitled audiovisual material in Second Language acquisition.
- 3. Reason The author of this experiment wanted to know about the effectiveness of subtitled audiovisual material having a positive result, because the groups improved in their vocabulary and comprehension skills. After the process the students for the students who were learning English could have good performance in word definition tasks, lexical performance task and the group who already learned the language had a big effect in their comprehension skills.
