Energy is the driving force in all the sectors as it acts like an index of standard of living or prosperity of the people of the country. However heavy dependence on fossil fuels leads to global warming, hence there is a need for the use of clean, sustainable, and eco friendly form of energy. Among the various types of non-conventional energy solar energy is the fundamental as it is abundant, pollution free and universally available.Even though the main input to the PV system is the solar radiation still there are other factors which affects the efficiency of the pv module. In this paper real time experiment has been conducted to analyze the effect of various factors like irradiance, temperature, and angle of tilt, soiling, shading on the power output of the pv module. Temperature is a negative factor which reduces the efficiency of the module and can be reduced by various cooling arrangements. Presence of dust particles and shading obstructs the incident solar radiations entering the panel and the effect is seen in the iv and pv curve .For better performance solar tracking at maximum power point is suggested to improve the power output of the pv module.

Solar cells are highly sensitive to temperature, which affects its operating parameters. The study has its aim in accessing the impact of temperature (in excess above the maximum operating cell temperature) and irradiance source on the efficiency of polycrystalline photovoltaic (PV) solar panels in an environment where the temperature and irradiance level can be fully controlled. For the study to achieve its aim, a solar box and tungsten light bulbs were used to create an environment where the irradiance level and the temperature can be controlled. The solar panel was placed inside the solar box facing the light source while the irradiance level and temperature were measured and held constant. Results show a steady decrease in voltage with increasing temperature while the performance ratio and efficiency of the photovoltaic module followed a similar trend as that of voltage once the temperature exceeds the maximum operating cell temperature. Results also show the output voltage of the photovoltaic to be higher under the tungsten light than the sun, but the efficiency achieved by the photovoltaic under the sun far exceeds that obtained under the tungsten light.

Photovoltaic (PV) modules are rated at standard test condition (STC) i.e. at irradiance of 1000 W/m2, temperature at 25 0C and solar spectrum of Air Mass 1.5G. The actual output from the PV module in the field varies from its rated output due to change in ambient environmental conditions from the STC. The reduction in output due to temperature is determined by temperature coefficient which varies with the different types of solar module technologies. In this study, temperature coefficient of different types of commercially available solar modules is evaluated. The testing has been carried out at PV test facility of Solar Energy Centre, New Delhi. The modules are selected randomly from various manufactures. It is found that the average temperature coefficient of power for mono-crystalline, multi-crystalline and CdTe based modules are -0.446 %/°C, -0.387 %/°C and -0.172 %/°C respectively. In case of amorphous silicon module, only one sample is measured and the temperature coefficient is -0.234 %/°C. This study shows that the temperature coefficient for mono crystalline silicon module is higher than the other types of solar modules. This study provides an understanding on the variation in energy generation due to temperature correction between different cell technologies.

comparative analysis of solar photovoltaic thermal (pvt) water and solarIJCMESJOURNAL
The present commercial photovoltaic solar cell (PV) converts solar energy into electricity with a relatively low efficiency less than 15%. More than 80% of the absorbed solar energy is dumped into the surroundings as heat after photovoltaic conversion. The electrical efficiency of photovoltaic system drops as its operating temperature rises and for this reason PV cooling is necessary. Therefore, stabilizing the temperature of photovoltaic modules at low level is highly desirable to improve the efficiency. Hybrid solar technology has the advantage of increasing the energy output per unit installed collector area. India as a tropical country is deemed to have a good potential of applying this technology. In this paper, solar PVT (Photovoltaic-Thermal) air and water collector hybrid systems were designed by using a poly crystalline silicon PV module as solar absorber and the comparative study was carried out. Air and water cooling of a commercial PV module configured as PVT air solar collector and PVT water solar collector by forced flow is studied. The energy and exergy performance of the PVT systems has been experimentally determined for various mass flow rates of fluids. The experimental result shows that the combined PVT system has got better performance than the simple PV and solar PVT water hybrid system has better efficiency than both. These systems are simple and suitable for building integration providing space heating depending on the season and for low temperature heating application.

Energy harvesting (EH), i.e. the process of extracting energy from the environment or from a surrounding system and converting it to useable electrical energy, is a prominent research topic, with many promising applications nowadays in the civil engineering field. Its areas of application currently focus to the powering small autonomous wireless sensors (thus eliminating the need for wires), in structural health monitoring and building automation applications. Regarding the latter, the prospect to implement autonomous sensors inside a building that monitor relevant parameters (temperature, humidity, chemical agent concentration etc.), and transmit intermittently data to a central unit is a recent and rapidly grown business, helped by the standardization of wireless (Wi-Fi) data transmission.
This study focuses on the numerical analysis and testing of a high efficiency Energy Harvesting device, based on piezoelectric materials, with possible applications for the sustainability of smart buildings, structures and infrastructures. The development of the device is supported by ESA (the European Space Agency) under a program for the space technology transfer.
The EH device, harvests the airflow inside Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, using a piezoelectric component and an appropriate customizable aerodynamic appendix or fin that takes advantage of specific air flow effects (principally Vortex Shedding), and can be implemented for optimizing the energy consumption inside buildings.
In the present research, focus is given on different relevant modelling aspects, explored both using numerical methods (by means of FEM and CFD models) and in wind tunnel testing. In particular, different configurations for the piezoelectric bender (including rectangular, cylindrical and T-shaped) are modelled, tested and compared. The calibration of the numerical models, useful for the optimisation of the final design, and the electrical modelling and losses calculation for the EH circuit, are provided, and the effective energy harvesting potential of the working prototype device in laboratory conditions is assessed. Additional aspects relevant to the successful implementation of the research project are shown, including the final design of the device and the possible market impact.

Solar energy is a vital untapped resource in a tropical country like ours. The main hindrance for the penetration and reach of solar PV systems is their low efficiency and high capital cost. The efficiency of solar PV is very low. In order to increase the efficiency, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques are to be undertaken to match the source and load property. These techniques are employed in PV systems to make full utilization of PV array output power. Recently, many MPPT algorithms of PV system have been proposed which depends on solar irradiation and temperature, but perturb and observe (P&O) and Incremental conductance algorithms are basic and most widely used. This project firstly introduces a Mat lab Simulink of photovoltaic array. To achieve the maximum power point tracking the Incremental Conductance method and perturb and observed (P&O) method are used. These two algorithms are employed with PV model along with converter in Mat lab Simulink. Three different converter boost, buck boost and cuk converter are design according to requirement and used. The usage of thermoelectric generator as a renewable energy sourceTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
Currently thermoelectric generators (TEG) are widely used in biomedical, military and space satellite power applications. TEG of high power plants are mostly used in automobile and industrial engines. This paper discusses TEG as a renewable energy source. Here the TEG in the application is used in the thermoelectric generator power plant. The working principle of this thermoelectric generator is on the heat side of the TEG peltier which is coated in metal in the form of aluminum, which is heated by a heater. And the cold side of the TEG Peltier is placed on the heat sink (as a heat dissipation metal). Heatsinks are submerged in water which are submerged about half or more. If the temperature of the metal being heated and the temperature of heat dissipation metal have a certain difference, then the temperature difference causes TEG to start working. The greater the temperature difference, the greater the electrical energy produced will be. However, if the temperature difference is too large it will damage the bismuth semiconductor material used. After TEG starts working it will produce voltage and current.

Solar cells are a major alternate source of sustainable energy in the usual condition of depleting non- renewable energy sources. Nowadays, this source is getting more and more important due to its use in large and small-scale installations. One of the major causes of energy losses in photovoltaic (PV) modules is the shading. It can happen due to clouds passing, near trees, and/or neighboring structures. Generally, there are two types of PV module Shading which are either partial shading or complete shading. Both have a significant impact on the solar module output power. This paper is an attempt of carrying out a study of the electrical characteristics of a solar module with various percentages of simulated shading. The solar module tester (SMT) simulator was used in this study. The study approved the direct correlation between short-circuit current and solar irradiance. The advantage of using SMT is its stable irradiance in comparison to the practical unstable solar irradiance within the same period. The results of both methods of shading simulation show that shading has a significant impact on the performance of solar panel in terms of efficiency, fill factor and output power. For better performance, solar panels should install in shading free places as much as its possible.

A Study of Shading Effect on Photovoltaic Modules with Proposed P&O Checking ...Yayah Zakaria
Sun irradiation levels and associated temperature changes are the main factors that influence the conversion of solar energy into electricity. Most energy is produced during a hot sunny day as the sun irradiation is at the maximum level and uniform throughout the solar photovoltaic (PV). However, most solar PV were frequently get shadowed, completely or partially, by the neighbouring buildings, trees and passing clouds. Consequently, the solar PV has lower voltage and current output, hence,
multiple maximum power points (MPP) are existed on the PV curve, which could cause confusion to the conventional Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) to track the true MPP for the PV system. Thus, it is important to examine the impacts of partial shading on the solar PV in order to extract the maximum possible power. This paper presents a MATLAB-based modelling for simulation and experimental setup to study the I-V and P-V characteristics of a solar module under a non-uniform irradiation due to partial shading condition (PSC). Furthermore, this study is also proposed an effective method (a variable step size of P&O with checking algorithm) that is low cost and higher tracking efficiency. Thus, this study is essential in improving and evaluating any new MPPT algorithm under the PSC.

Maximum power point tracking must be used in PV systems to get the most of solar energy. A solar cells property is non linear. The intensity of solar radiation falling on the earths surface is affected by a variety of elements including clouds, water vapour, pollution, absorption, scattering, and climate conditions. Major depletion of fossil fuel and the increase of greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide, chloroflurocarbons (CFCs), hydroflurocarbon (HFCs), perflurocarbons (PFCs) and Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) worldwide are the catalyst for the interest of many counties towards renewable energy. The rising cost of electricity due to higher demand and less resource also led to the renewable energy venture. One of the most famous renewable energy is solar energy. Unfortunately, renewable energies are dependent on environment conditions, too. One of the major problems that affect the output energy of the solar panel is the cloud shadowing problem. Photovoltaic solar and wind hybrid system is capable to reduce the effects of the cloud shadowing by harvesting two different energy resources. However, the availability of wind energy harvesting has shown its instability performance. In this work, the photovoltaic solar array of the laboratory-scale single axis solar tracking system to maximize the output energy of the solar panel is examined experimentally. The solar array is connected in series and parallel configurations, and is experimented under different partical-shadowed conditions. The experimentation is done to develop a solar array that has a minimum effect towards this type of occurances. Experimental results proved that the parallel configured solar panel has showed less influence by the cloud shadowing as compared to the single one.

Abstract: The study investigated the viability of using hybrid models of renewable power generation in certain geographical areas where the climate is suitable. A real model of the set-up was created and the data obtained was compared to simulated models to improve accuracy. The data from both the real set-up and the simulated model were then compared to climatic conditions in certain rural areas of India. As of submission of this report, wind is not a prevalent source of energy in the southern Indian state of Karnataka; this project aims to conclude whether such non-utilisation is justified or whether it would be beneficial if such hybrid models be used in certain areas of suitable conditions.

In solar power systems, irradiance value data are among the most important parameters. Such data can be used in installing photovoltaic (PV) modules, such as determining the exact location, tilt angle, and required area, for optimal power efficiency. In this study, the comprehensive simulation and implementation of a solar radiation meter with a PV cell and temperature sensor are presented. The irradiance measurement value is based on the power reading generated by the small capacity of the PV cell at a specific load converted into a digital value in the microcontroller using the implicit Newton polynomial interpolation (NPI) equation as a low-cost alternative method. The effect of temperature is included in the conversion to obtain precise measurement results. Firstly, the structure and characteristics of the PV cell are discussed. Secondly, the parameters, measuring method, and conversion of the measurement reading data using the NPI equation are presented to assess the results. Finally, the simulation of the solar radiation meter using the PSIM and implementation of the hardware are conducted to validate the concepts and compare their results. The proposed hardware has an average error of 2.72% in the implementation of the measurement test.

The active and reactive load changes have a significant impact on voltage
and frequency. In this paper, in order to stabilize the microgrid (MG) against
load variations in islanding mode, the active and reactive power of all
distributed generators (DGs), including energy storage (battery), diesel
generator, and micro-turbine, are controlled. The micro-turbine generator is
connected to MG through a three-phase to three-phase matrix converter, and
the droop control method is applied for controlling the voltage and
frequency of MG. In addition, a method is introduced for voltage and
frequency control of micro-turbines in the transition state from gridconnected mode to islanding mode. A novel switching strategy of the matrix
converter is used for converting the high-frequency output voltage of the
micro-turbine to the grid-side frequency of the utility system. Moreover,
using the switching strategy, the low-order harmonics in the output current
and voltage are not produced, and consequently, the size of the output filter
would be reduced. In fact, the suggested control strategy is load-independent
and has no frequency conversion restrictions. The proposed approach for
voltage and frequency regulation demonstrates exceptional performance and
favorable response across various load alteration scenarios. The suggested
strategy is examined in several scenarios in the MG test systems, and the
simulation results are addressed.

Smart grids are one of the last decades' innovations in electrical energy.
They bring relevant advantages compared to the traditional grid and
significant interest from the research community. Assessing the field's
evolution is essential to propose guidelines for facing new and future smart
grid challenges. In addition, knowing the main technologies involved in the
deployment of smart grids (SGs) is important to highlight possible
shortcomings that can be mitigated by developing new tools. This paper
contributes to the research trends mentioned above by focusing on two

the 7,215 documents were extracted using a multi-step process. These two
datasets have been analyzed using a bibliometric tool called bibliometrix.
The main outputs are presented with some recommendations for future

Use of analytical hierarchy process for selecting and prioritizing islanding ...IJECEIAES
One of the problems that are associated to power systems is islanding
condition, which must be rapidly and properly detected to prevent any
negative consequences on the system's protection, stability, and security.
This paper offers a thorough overview of several islanding detection
strategies, which are divided into two categories: classic approaches,
including local and remote approaches, and modern techniques, including
techniques based on signal processing and computational intelligence.
Additionally, each approach is compared and assessed based on several
factors, including implementation costs, non-detected zones, declining
power quality, and response times using the analytical hierarchy process
(AHP). The multi-criteria decision-making analysis shows that the overall
weight of passive methods (24.7%), active methods (7.8%), hybrid methods
(5.6%), remote methods (14.5%), signal processing-based methods (26.6%),
and computational intelligent-based methods (20.8%) based on the
comparison of all criteria together. Thus, it can be seen from the total weight
that hybrid approaches are the least suitable to be chosen, while signal
processing-based methods are the most appropriate islanding detection
method to be selected and implemented in power system with respect to the
aforementioned factors. Using Expert Choice software, the proposed
hierarchy model is studied and examined.

The power generated by photovoltaic (PV) systems is influenced by
environmental factors. This variability hampers the control and utilization of
solar cells' peak output. In this study, a single-stage grid-connected PV
system is designed to enhance power quality. Our approach employs fuzzy
logic in the direct power control (DPC) of a three-phase voltage source
inverter (VSI), enabling seamless integration of the PV connected to the
grid. Additionally, a fuzzy logic-based maximum power point tracking
(MPPT) controller is adopted, which outperforms traditional methods like
incremental conductance (INC) in enhancing solar cell efficiency and
minimizing the response time. Moreover, the inverter's real-time active and
reactive power is directly managed to achieve a unity power factor (UPF).
The system's performance is assessed through MATLAB/Simulink
implementation, showing marked improvement over conventional methods,
particularly in steady-state and varying weather conditions. For solar
irradiances of 500 and 1,000 W/m2
, the results show that the proposed
method reduces the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the injected current
to the grid by approximately 46% and 38% compared to conventional
methods, respectively. Furthermore, we compare the simulation results with
IEEE standards to evaluate the system's grid compatibility.

Photovoltaic systems have emerged as a promising energy resource that
caters to the future needs of society, owing to their renewable, inexhaustible,
and cost-free nature. The power output of these systems relies on solar cell
radiation and temperature. In order to mitigate the dependence on
atmospheric conditions and enhance power tracking, a conventional
approach has been improved by integrating various methods. To optimize
the generation of electricity from solar systems, the maximum power point

steady-state voltage oscillations and improve transient response, two
traditional MPPT methods, namely fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and perturb

Adaptive synchronous sliding control for a robot manipulator based on neural ...IJECEIAES
Robot manipulators have become important equipment in production lines, medical fields, and transportation. Improving the quality of trajectory tracking for
robot hands is always an attractive topic in the research community. This is a
challenging problem because robot manipulators are complex nonlinear systems
and are often subject to fluctuations in loads and external disturbances. This
article proposes an adaptive synchronous sliding control scheme to improve trajectory tracking performance for a robot manipulator. The proposed controller
ensures that the positions of the joints track the desired trajectory, synchronize
the errors, and significantly reduces chattering. First, the synchronous tracking
errors and synchronous sliding surfaces are presented. Second, the synchronous
tracking error dynamics are determined. Third, a robust adaptive control law is
designed, the unknown components of the model are estimated online by the neural network, and the parameters of the switching elements are selected by fuzzy
logic. The built algorithm ensures that the tracking and approximation errors
are ultimately uniformly bounded (UUB). Finally, the effectiveness of the constructed algorithm is demonstrated through simulation and experimental results.
Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed controller is effective with small synchronous tracking errors, and the chattering phenomenon is
significantly reduced.

Rapidly and remotely monitoring and receiving the solar cell systems status parameters, solar irradiance, temperature, and humidity, are critical issues in enhancement their efficiency. Hence, in the present article an improved smart prototype of internet of things (IoT) technique based on embedded system through NodeMCU ESP8266 (ESP-12E) was carried out experimentally. Three different regions at Egypt; Luxor, Cairo, and El-Beheira cities were chosen to study their solar irradiance profile, temperature, and humidity by the proposed IoT system. The monitoring data of solar irradiance, temperature, and humidity were live visualized directly by Ubidots through hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) protocol. The measured solar power radiation in Luxor, Cairo, and El-Beheira ranged between 216-1000, 245-958, and 187-692 W/m 2 respectively during the solar day. The accuracy and rapidity of obtaining monitoring results using the proposed IoT system made it a strong candidate for application in monitoring solar cell systems. On the other hand, the obtained solar power radiation results of the three considered regions strongly candidate Luxor and Cairo as suitable places to build up a solar cells system station rather than El-Beheira.
An efficient security framework for intrusion detection and prevention in int...IJECEIAES
Over the past few years, the internet of things (IoT) has advanced to connect billions of smart devices to improve quality of life. However, anomalies or malicious intrusions pose several security loopholes, leading to performance degradation and threat to data security in IoT operations. Thereby, IoT security systems must keep an eye on and restrict unwanted events from occurring in the IoT network. Recently, various technical solutions based on machine learning (ML) models have been derived towards identifying and restricting unwanted events in IoT. However, most ML-based approaches are prone to miss-classification due to inappropriate feature selection. Additionally, most ML approaches applied to intrusion detection and prevention consider supervised learning, which requires a large amount of labeled data to be trained. Consequently, such complex datasets are impossible to source in a large network like IoT. To address this problem, this proposed study introduces an efficient learning mechanism to strengthen the IoT security aspects. The proposed algorithm incorporates supervised and unsupervised approaches to improve the learning models for intrusion detection and mitigation. Compared with the related works, the experimental outcome shows that the model performs well in a benchmark dataset. It accomplishes an improved detection accuracy of approximately 99.21%.

The internet of things (IoT) is a revolutionary innovation in many aspects of our society including interactions, financial activity, and global security such as the military and battlefield internet. Due to the limited energy and processing capacity of network devices, security, energy consumption, compatibility, and device heterogeneity are the long-term IoT problems. As a result, energy and security are critical for data transmission across edge and IoT networks. Existing IoT interoperability techniques need more computation time, have unreliable authentication mechanisms that break easily, lose data easily, and have low confidentiality. In this paper, a key agreement protocol-based authentication mechanism for IoT devices is offered as a solution to this issue. This system makes use of information exchange, which must be secured to prevent access by unauthorized users. Using a compact contiki/cooja simulator, the performance and design of the suggested framework are validated. The simulation findings are evaluated based on detection of malicious nodes after 60 minutes of simulation. The suggested trust method, which is based on privacy access control, reduced packet loss ratio to 0.32%, consumed 0.39% power, and had the greatest average residual energy of 0.99 mJoules at 10 nodes.
Fuzzy linear programming with the intuitionistic polygonal fuzzy numbersIJECEIAES
In real world applications, data are subject to ambiguity due to several factors; fuzzy sets and fuzzy numbers propose a great tool to model such ambiguity. In case of hesitation, the complement of a membership value in fuzzy numbers can be different from the non-membership value, in which case we can model using intuitionistic fuzzy numbers as they provide flexibility by defining both a membership and a non-membership functions. In this article, we consider the intuitionistic fuzzy linear programming problem with intuitionistic polygonal fuzzy numbers, which is a generalization of the previous polygonal fuzzy numbers found in the literature. We present a modification of the simplex method that can be used to solve any general intuitionistic fuzzy linear programming problem after approximating the problem by an intuitionistic polygonal fuzzy number with n edges. This method is given in a simple tableau formulation, and then applied on numerical examples for clarity.

Seizure stage detection of epileptic seizure using convolutional neural networksIJECEIAES
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), seventy million individuals worldwide suffer from epilepsy, a neurological disorder. While electroencephalography (EEG) is crucial for diagnosing epilepsy and monitoring the brain activity of epilepsy patients, it requires a specialist to examine all EEG recordings to find epileptic behavior. This procedure needs an experienced doctor, and a precise epilepsy diagnosis is crucial for appropriate treatment. To identify epileptic seizures, this study employed a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on raw scalp EEG signals to discriminate between preictal, ictal, postictal, and interictal segments. The possibility of these characteristics is explored by examining how well timedomain signals work in the detection of epileptic signals using intracranial Freiburg Hospital (FH), scalp Children's Hospital Boston-Massachusetts Institute of Technology (CHB-MIT) databases, and Temple University Hospital (TUH) EEG. To test the viability of this approach, two types of experiments were carried out. Firstly, binary class classification (preictal, ictal, postictal each versus interictal) and four-class classification (interictal versus preictal versus ictal versus postictal). The average accuracy for stage detection using CHB-MIT database was 84.4%, while the Freiburg database's time-domain signals had an accuracy of 79.7% and the highest accuracy of 94.02% for classification in the TUH EEG database when comparing interictal stage to preictal stage.
Analysis of driving style using self-organizing maps to analyze driver behaviorIJECEIAES
Modern life is strongly associated with the use of cars, but the increase in acceleration speeds and their maneuverability leads to a dangerous driving style for some drivers. In these conditions, the development of a method that allows you to track the behavior of the driver is relevant. The article provides an overview of existing methods and models for assessing the functioning of motor vehicles and driver behavior. Based on this, a combined algorithm for recognizing driving style is proposed. To do this, a set of input data was formed, including 20 descriptive features: About the environment, the driver's behavior and the characteristics of the functioning of the car, collected using OBD II. The generated data set is sent to the Kohonen network, where clustering is performed according to driving style and degree of danger. Getting the driving characteristics into a particular cluster allows you to switch to the private indicators of an individual driver and considering individual driving characteristics. The application of the method allows you to identify potentially dangerous driving styles that can prevent accidents.

Because of its spectral-spatial and temporal resolution of greater areas, hyperspectral imaging (HSI) has found widespread application in the field of object classification. The HSI is typically used to accurately determine an object's physical characteristics as well as to locate related objects with appropriate spectral fingerprints. As a result, the HSI has been extensively applied to object identification in several fields, including surveillance, agricultural monitoring, environmental research, and precision agriculture. However, because of their enormous size, objects require a lot of time to classify; for this reason, both spectral and spatial feature fusion have been completed. The existing classification strategy leads to increased misclassification, and the feature fusion method is unable to preserve semantic object inherent features; This study addresses the research difficulties by introducing a hybrid spectral-spatial fusion (HSSF) technique to minimize feature size while maintaining object intrinsic qualities; Lastly, a soft-margins kernel is proposed for multi-layer deep support vector machine (MLDSVM) to reduce misclassification. The standard Indian pines dataset is used for the experiment, and the outcome demonstrates that the HSSF-MLDSVM model performs substantially better in terms of accuracy and Kappa coefficient.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

Experimental Analysis of Factors Affecting the Power Output of the PV Module (Arjyadhara Pradhan)

module. There are two ways of tracking passive tracking where the module orientation changes slowly as
per the set path and active tracking which is based on the use of optical sensors. As stated by Mousazadeh et
al. [7], the use of sun-trackers cause an increase in the energy collected from sun by 10% to 100% which
depends on geographical conditions and time period. Recently a 45-day experimental study conducted by
researchers concludes the fact that by the use of sun-trackers, the amount of energy produced significantly
increases by 14–20% [8]. The same results were obtained by Eke and Senturk and their results demonstrated
than after one year of operation, about 30% more energy is obtained by a dual-axis sun tracking system than
the latitude-tilt fixed system [9]. Dust deposition on the surface of solar modules can cause two different
effects i.e. firstly by reducing the amount of solar radiation by decreasing the transmittance of the glass cover
and secondly by reducing the concentrating ability of the concentrating optical system [10]-[12]. Dust
deposition depends on various factors like material, size, wind speed, humidity, tilt, geographical location,
seasonal effect etc [13]-[16]. In a partially shadowed cell the shadowed portion does not produce any
electrical power where as the unshaded part produces power. The voltage generated from the illuminated part
forward bias the parallel rectifier. As the shadowed area is small a large circulating current flows which
causes excessive heating. Thus the damage caused by shadowing can be reduced by using bypass diode. The
bypass diode provides an alternative path for the load current and hence the damage can be reduced. Even
due to shading effect multiple maximum power points exist on the PV curve [17]. Thus the pv user generally
wants the pv system to operate at its highest energy conversion output by operating at maximum power point
irrespective of any environmental changes [18].
2. FACTORS AFFECTING THE OUTPUT PERFORMANCE OF THE PV MODULE
Studies show that that there are several factors which affect the power output of pv module. While
designing a PV system these factors should be given importance for better performance. The analysis was
carried out in real time basis on the month of March in the terrace of campus 3 block A, school of electrical
engineering KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, India. A 37 watt Photovoltaic module of make Vikram Solar was
used for the experiment purpose. The module specification is given as below. A solar meter was used to
measure the irradiance level. Resistance temperature detector was used to measure the temperature of the pv
module. A voltmeter and ammeter of dc type was used for measurement of voltage and current. A rheostat
was connected for varying the resistance which acts like a load. For the soiling and shading test two nos of
pv modules of same rating was used so that the output of dusty panel was compared with that of the clean
panel and unshaded panel with shaded one..The output characteristics of solar cells are expressed in the form
of I-V curve and P-V curve. The module specification is given as below.

3. RESULTS AND ANALYSIS
In this experimental analysis various factors like irradiance, temperature, angle of tilt, soiling and
shading are taken to see the effect of these various factors on the power output of the pv module.
3.1. Effect of Irradiance
As the Sun’s position changes throughout the day irradiance also keeps changing with it. It is found
that maximum irradiance is around 12:00 to 1:00 pm and slowly it goes on decreasing. Keeping factors like
temperature and spectral content constant both short circuit current and open circuit voltage increases with
increase in the intensity of radiation. As the no of photons striking the module increases photon generated
current also increases.

From the real time experiment conducted from morning 10 am to 4 pm it was found that during the
early hours the value of solar irradiance was less where as it reached its peak at around 12:00 to 1:00pm and
again with the sun’s position the value decreased. Maximum power calculated was also found to increase
with the increase in solar irradiance.
3.2. Effect of Temperature
With the increase in solar insolation photon generation rate increases as there is a reduction in the
band gap. The total numbers of photons striking the module are not fully converted to electrical energy rather
some amount of it is converted to heat thereby causing a rise in the temperature of the module. It is also
found that short circuit current decreases slightly where as there is a remarkable reduction in open circuit

voltage. Even temperature rise causes increase in reverse saturation current and decrease in Fill factor.
Literature studies show that with the increase of 1K reduces photoelectric conversion efficiency by 0.2% to
0.5%. M.Mohamed Musthafa in his work stated that the temperature rises to maximum 39.6 degree while
conducting an experiment from morning 8 am to 4 pm [10].
From the experiment, Figure 4 it was found that there is a difference in temperature for the module
back surface and front surface of the module. Front surface is having higher temperature then that of the back
surface. Table 3 shows a reduction in efficiency with increase in temperature. Even though at 12:00-1:00 pm
the sun is at its maximum position and the irradiance level is high but due to the temperature effect the
efficiency decreases by 0.56% for every degree centigrade rise in temperature. Hence cooling of modules are
highly recommended to increase the efficiency. It is also observed that further decrease in temperature
towards the end of the day doesnot increase the efficiency as the level of irradiance also goes down. By using
either water cooling or forced air cooling the temperature of the module can be reduced at regularly intervals
so that the system can be made to operate at the maximum allowable value causing less loss.

3.3. Effect of Angle of Tilt
Studies shows that angle of inclination plays a greater role then orientation. For optimal orientation
the PV modules are kept facing south. The angle of inclination of the panel should be such that they match
the latitude of the location minus the sun’s declination i.e the angle between equator and the sun. In the real
time experiment conducted the module was tilted at different angle and IV and PV curve was drawn. Several
researchers have suggested that upto latidude 25 degree the summer angle is 2.3 degree and winter angle is
41.4 degree. This experiment was conducted in Bhubaneshwar with latitude angle 20.2961° N and was found
to have highest efficiency at 45 degree tilt angle i.e 16.2%.

From Figure 6 and 7 it was concluded that module shows better performance in terms of power
output at 45 degree angle of inclination. In this study manual tracking method was used where as using
MPPT tracker the panel adjusts its tilt angle as per the position of the sun to receive the maximum incident
photon. Studies show that there are various mppt methods for tracking but in this paper only the effect of
angle of tilt on the panel power output is considered. From the table IV it was also found that module tilt at
45 degree gives the maximum power and a higher fill factor.

3.4. Effect of Soiling
Studies show that the performance of panels over long period of time without rain events is highly
reduced due to dust accumulation. Not only duration of exposure but also frequency and intensity of dust
affects the PV panel’s power output. Dust particles blocks the incident photons reaching the PV cell, thus
reducing the useful area of the pv module. In this paper an experimental test has been conducted and was
found that dust accumulation greatly affects the short circuit current where as open circuit voltage has very
little effect. Even various types of dust sample have been tested to see the effect of dust on the module
performance and the result was compared with that of a clean module. Motasem Saidan et al suggested that
the degradation in the output efficiency of PV module on soiling condition is 6.24% on an exposure of one
day [11]. Some other researchers also suggested that module efficiency decreases by 15% due to dust
deposition.
From Figure 8 it is clear that depending on the type of dust there is a greater change in the cell short
circuit current but very less effect in the pv open circuit voltage.Panel efficiency also varies depending on the

types of dust present and even time of exposure considering quantity factor. From the Figure 9 pv module
with clay dust shows least efficiency. It can be concluded that presesnce of dust decreases the efficiency by
33%.
Figure 8. Shows iv curve for different types of dust
Figure 9. Maximum power and efficiency of various types of dust on pv module
3.5. Effect of Shading
Shade is one of the important parameter which affects the output performance of the pv module.
Shading can be caused by various factors like presence of tall building, leaves falling, fog, cloud, dust
particles, birds excreta etc. The shading effect can be broadly studied in two categories i.e soft shading and
hard shading. It creates hotspots where temperature rises very high and can cause burning effect. Non-
uniform shading causes mismatch in the current and hence power loss of the module.Sathyanarayan in his
work has found out that under uniform shading condition the efficiency reduces by 0.15% for every 25%
shading the panel [12]. Various studies suggest that shading is a negative factor for the performance of pv
system. An experimental analysis has been carried out with different degree of shading like the module
shaded for 25%, 50% and 75% and the result was compared with that of the clear panel without shading. For
shading purpose measured cardboards were used.
Table 5 shows that with increase in the percentage shading the efficiency of the pv module
decreases. Maximum power is obtained from pv module under no shade condition but with increase in
percentage shading major changes in short circuit current is observed with marginal changes in open circuit
voltage as shown in Figure 10 and Figure 11. From this experiment is it stated that with every 25% increase
in uniform shading the efficiency of the module decreases by 3%.

4. CONCLUSION
With the increase in solar radiation striking the module maximum power increases which is
experimentally obtained at around 12:00 to 1:00pm. But with increase in the photons reaching the module a
part of this energy is converted to heat which cause rise in temperature. It is found that efficiency and power
output decreases at high temperature. Water cooling or air cooling the panel at regular intervals can reduce
this effect. Dust deposition does not largely affect the open circuit voltage of the PV module. At various
irradiance levels open circuit voltage of dusty panel makes very small difference with that of the clear panel.
The ratio of Voc (dusty)/Voc (clean) is around 99% for various intensity of light. Accumulation of dust on the
PV module greatly affects the short circuit current of the PV module. Considering various irradiance levels it
is found that the difference in current o/p increases with increase in light intensity from 220 watt/m2
to 880
watt/m2
. Isc for dusty panels is less than that of clear panels. A difference of 40-50% Isc drop is observed for
dusty panels. Shading is also one of the important factors which affect the module power output. From the IV
and PV graph it is clearly seen that shaded modules have less power output in comparison to unshaded
module. Even the module output is affected by the tilt angle and orientation. Amount of energy captured by
the module can be increased by tilting the panel 15 degree steeper in winter and 15 degree less in summer
with the latitude of the location. Even the output can be maximized by mechanically tracking the sun and
orienting the module at various suns’ position and electrically tracking and operating at maximum power
point.
