This document discusses Open Broadcast Systems and Nemeton's experiences conducting sports broadcasts over 5G networks. They tested single and bonded 4G/5G connections, achieving zero packet loss over 2+ hours with average ping of 15ms on a single 5G modem broadcast. Their goal is to push the bitrate to 30Mbps with <250ms buffer for remote live productions. Future applications discussed include replacing in-car RF links with lower latency 5G for remote-controlled race car video.

Replacing a crossbar switch with ‘virtual’ IP packet switching - The ability to expand video-over-IP systems ‘one piece at a time’ and the decentralized nature of the matrix makes the technology very compelling for any size or scope of AV project.. AV-over-IP is the transport of AV signals over a standard Ethernet network, including…
HD Video (e.g. HDMI, DVI)
Audio
Control Signals (e.g. IR)
Peripheral Signals (e.g. USB)
Does Dante require special switches? No. We strongly recommend that Gigabit switches be used due to the clear advantages in performance and scalability.
Does Dante require a dedicated network infrastructure? No, a dedicated network infrastructure is not required. Dante-enabled devices can happily coexist with other equipment making use of the network, such as general purpose PCs sending and receiving email and other data.
Does Dante require any special network infrastructure? No, special network infrastructure is not required. Since Dante is based upon universally accepted networking standards, Dante-enabled devices can be connected using inexpensive off-the-shelf Ethernet switches and cabling.
What features are important when purchasing a switch? Dante makes use of standard Voice over IP (VoIP) Quality of Service (QoS) switch features, to prioritize clock sync and audio traffic over other network traffic. VoIP QoS features are available in a variety of inexpensive and enterprise Ethernet switches. Any switches with the following features should be appropriate for use with Dante:
Gigabit ports for inter-switch connections
Quality of Service (QoS) with 4 queues
Diffserv (DSCP) QoS, with strict priority
Totally new to AV over IT? This may help. If you have worked with any of the popular protocols, your time is better spent in other sessions. AV over IT methods vary in application of OSI model. Audio Networking - One RJ45 and CAT5 cable for dozens of signal paths. Switches can provide hardware time stamping which allows synchronization, offsets, and corrections. All covered in IEEE 1588.
Ethernet Timing & Priority Standards - All audio over Ethernet protocols require Priority, Sequence, & Sync
Differentiated Services / Quality of Service (DiffServ, QoS)
Priority by data type (Clock Sync and Audio Packets over Email)
Traffic prioritized based upon tags in IP Header (Layer 3)
Priority number assigned by manage switch to each packet
Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP)
Keeps data sequenced in the right order
Time stamp on UDP header
Works with RTCP (Real Time Control Protocol) for QoS and Sync
Variation: RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) works on TCP and not UDP
Does not reserve resources or provide for quality of service
Precision Timing Protocol (PTP)
IEEE 1588
Sub-microsecond accuracy to synchronize subnets
Layer 2 - Switches provide hardware-based time stamping

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Automobile Management System Project Report.pdfKamal Acharya
The proposed project is developed to manage the automobile in the automobile dealer company. The main module in this project is login, automobile management, customer management, sales, complaints and reports. The first module is the login. The automobile showroom owner should login to the project for usage. The username and password are verified and if it is correct, next form opens. If the username and password are not correct, it shows the error message.
When a customer search for a automobile, if the automobile is available, they will be taken to a page that shows the details of the automobile including automobile name, automobile ID, quantity, price etc. “Automobile Management System” is useful for maintaining automobiles, customers effectively and hence helps for establishing good relation between customer and automobile organization. It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.

• Generally a single-vendor walled garden solution
– Adaptive bitrate solutions (sometimes very aggressive)
• Not comparable to satellite/fibre for higher end
productions
– Adaptive bitrate ok for five mins of news reporting but for
hours of sports is quite jarring
– But do viewers actually notice?
5. <Your Logo
Here>
Why is 5G different?
• On paper, massive improvements in performance
– 10-100x increase in bandwidth compared to 4G,
comparable or better than fibre connections
– 10x decrease in ping times, 4G ~30-50ms, 5G ~5-10ms.
Again comparable to fibre
• Massive investment push from telco industry that
broadcast can benefit from
– Fierce competition in many countries
– “build it and they will come” like 4G
– Large numbers of cell towers
Fibre performance, anywhere

Introduction to 5G
• 5th Generation of Mobile Cellular Communication
Technology; 5G NR (New Radio)
• Why 5G? We cover many venues, most visited only once
per year. Need satellite flexibility. Multi-annual fibre
commitment not cost effective
• 5G comes in 3 Major Forms:
– 5G NSA: Currently Live in Ireland on all networks
– 5G SA: Under development in Ireland. Expected early 2023
– DSS: Dynamically Shared Carrier between 4G/5G, typically on lower
frequency bands like 1800MHz, upload performance very similar to
4G. Enables faster speeds without need for new antennae
7. <Your Logo
Here>
5G NSA vs SA
• 5G NSA (Non-Standalone):
– New 5G radios allow higher throughput, wider RF
Bandwidths
– New frequency bands, Band 78 (3.5GHz – 3.8GHz)
– Core network still 4G Evolved Packet Core
– Basically 4G but faster, reduced latency
– mmWave, 6GHz+
• 5G SA (Standalone): Ground up Rebuild
– Same radios & bands as NSA
– New 5G Core, most offerings virtualised/cloud native
– Enabling even higher throughput & lower latency
– Network Slicing*
8. <Your Logo
Here>
5G Network Slicing
• Partition the 5G RF Carrier and create an IP pipe
to your endpoint.
• Endpoint can be in the cloud or your facility; IPsec
VPN
• QoS applied to the pipe giving guaranteed
bandwidth, latency, packet loss. Not competing
with the general public. No crazy fluctuations
• Many applications, including broadcast
• Unknowns: Pricing & Timeline. 5G Core needed
9. <Your Logo

Results & Next Steps
• 9ms Ping seen at venue very close to the data
centre (5km/3miles)
• Push up Bitrate & Reduce buffer
• Goal is 30 Mbps & <250ms Buffer comparable
to Satellite
• Remote Production: 100 Mbps+ using
bonding, multiple camera angles
15. <Your Logo
Here>
Future: 5G Remote Production
• 5G delivering ~5-10ms RTT in many cases
• Encoding achievable at ~100ms end-to-end (H.264)
• Doable today, apart from large network ping spikes
16. <Your Logo

Future: Replacing in-car RF links with 5G
• In car cameras often use high-end RF equipment
• Racing semi-professionally at famous tracks such as Le
Mans, Spa and Magny Cours
• In-car video used as part of team’s race
• Latency more important than picture stability
– Ok to glitch under a bridge or in a tunnel and come back
• Challenging content for encoder, track + multiview
– Can’t adapt bitrate down and then wait 30s to come back
• Currently bonded 4G with ~3-5s latency
– For non-interactive, strategic decisions
• 5G could cut this to ~100-200ms
– Can make interactive, instant decisions
