Experience Is The Best Teacher Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme "Experience Is The Best Teacher" presents a unique set of
challenges. While the topic is broad and allows for personal reflection, it also demands a delicate
balance between anecdotal experiences and broader, more universally applicable insights. The
difficulty lies in translating personal lessons into a narrative that resonates with a diverse
audience, making the essay relatable and insightful.
One might find it challenging to strike the right tone, avoiding the pitfall of being overly didactic
or excessively anecdotal. Balancing the subjective nature of personal experiences with an
objective analysis of their educational value requires finesse. Additionally, the task involves
delving into one's own life, evaluating pivotal moments, and extracting valuable lessons while
ensuring that the narrative remains coherent and engaging.
The complexity of the essay is further heightened by the need to connect individual experiences
with broader philosophical or educational perspectives. Integrating relevant theories or scholarly
viewpoints can enhance the depth of the essay, but doing so without losing the personal touch
can be demanding.
Moreover, the challenge extends to organizing thoughts coherently, constructing a compelling
introduction, developing a well-structured body, and delivering a memorable conclusion. This
process demands careful consideration of the essay's flow and logical progression.
In essence, writing an essay on the topic "Experience Is The Best Teacher" involves a delicate
dance between the personal and the universal, demanding both introspection and a broader
understanding of the subject. It requires the writer to navigate through the intricacies of self-
expression, philosophical insights, and effective communication.

Nursing Shortage and Nurse Turnover
Nursing shortage and Nurse Turnover
The ongoing instability evidenced from the high mobility of qualified nurses in the
nursing workforce has raised many questions about the issue of nursing shortage and
nurse turnover (Gates Jones, 2007). The paper below discusses the issues of nursing
shortage and nurse turnover. The paper also describes how leaders as well as
managers in the nursing fraternity and other leaders can resolve those problems
effectively and the different applicable principles, skills, roles of the leader, and
theories of leadership and management.
There are various factors that are contributing to the current nursing shortage and
turnover. Apparently the major contributing factors in the USA are a population of
nurses that are getting older without adequate replacement, there are fewer than
expected faculties dedicated to nursing, there are more career fields opening up
particularly for women hence the alternative choices instead of nursing, federal
government s failure to fund the nursing education across the country, generally
unpleasant working conditions and terms, poor retention of the nurses as well as an
overstretched hence overworked nursing staff. According to Paller (2012), the nursing
shortage in different countries for example the United States tends not to be the only
growing problem, but has also become a complex one. Nursing shortage and nurse s
turnover has become the worsening predicament in the health care industry in the

Adrienne Rich s Of Woman Born – The End of
Motherhood Essay
Of Woman Born The End of Motherhood
In Of Woman Born, Adrienne Rich effectively weaves her own story into a
convincing account of what it means to become a mother within the bonds of
patriarchal culture. Her conclusion that the institution of motherhood, which she
distinguishes from motherhood, must be destroyed in order to release the creation
and sustenance of life into the same realm of decision, struggle, surprise, imagination,
and conscious intelligence, as any other difficult, but freely chosen work is
substantiated by her courageous confession that contradicts culturally normative
notions of motherhood.
Allowing readers to glimpse her own story as she painfully evaluates her role as

because [she] felt [her] own needs acutely and often expressed them violently (32) by
raging at her children out of frustration, provides a credible offering to break down an
institution that makes women like her angry. It also demonstrates some of the ways
in which motherhood has not been women s choice.
A reader might be stunned to consider that was written just twenty years ago and that
Rich s first pregnancy happened only forty three years ago, since her choices as an
educated woman were so limited compared to now. When her account of feeling
like she was only acting as a woman (having no idea what she wanted, and having a
child because it was expected of a real woman ) is introduced, her lack of choices
reads like either a dismal Margaret Atwood science fiction novel or a scene from the
very long ago past. Similary, when Rich cites her example of a primitive attitude by
quoting a doctor s medical opinion that women are psychologically unbalanced when
they attempt to resist the demands of the institution [of motherhood], (263) it is quite
surprising to realize that this opinion was written in 1967, a mere thirty years ago. In
this way, Rich s story is a tribute to all women who have fought her battle, the battle
to have the freedom to choose motherhood.
Rich must feel a deep sense of satisfaction in realizing that articulating her struggles
has helped many women. Her capacity to transcend her own circumstances is truly
remarkable

Every century has its own poetry; poetry has its own personality and
aspects, especially love poems. In the sixteenth century, poems about
love were more about the court than the lover. In the next century (the
seventeenth), the poems of love were more about courting the lover. An
author from the sixteenth century, Sir ThomasWyatt the Elder, is well
known for his lyrics pertaining to love. An author from the seventeenth
century is John Donne, who is most famous for his love poetry. When

Globalization Of Globalization
Is the international political economy more globalized today than in 2000? One could
argue that the groundwork for such a phenomenon has been soundly laid by the post
World War machinations that generated entities such as the International Monetary
Fund and the World Bank. No doubt, events such as the terror attack, a particularly
nasty form of globalization, that occurred on September 11th, 2001, raised awareness
of globalization in general as we realized that a plot conceived in Afghanistan,
Germany, and elsewhere could be brought to fruition within our own borders.
(Keohane :2004) Certainly, technological innovations like the smartphone, social
media, and e commerce have enriched the already fertile global ground that brought
forth a level of global interdependence, shared knowledge, and communication laying
the groundwork for what is now referred to as the age of globalization. (Scholte
:2000) However, much of this may have facilitated the process, but most certainly
fueled global perception of the reality of an enmeshed economic, political, and social
system. Whatever the case may be with the preceding, the globalization of
international political economy is evident as problems from weakened states,
decreasing political autonomy, and powerful non state actors now shape international
economic, political, and social spheres alongside to the consternation of the global
political hegemony.

The Wonders Of The Invisible World Chapter Summary
Throughout time, historians have relied on first person encounters to accurately
depict the world and the people at a certain time. Cotton Mather s, The Wonders of
the Invisible World, does exactly that by giving the reader a perspective into the
Salem witch trials as well as a first person view from Mather himself. Through this
work, Mather shares his opinions on the actions taken in the trials and the works of
the Devil and God inside of New England. During this time period, religion played a
significant part in society such that it was a driving force behind the hysteria created.
This hysteria doesn t seem to reach Mather, but rather he seems to be compelled to
write due to his pre existing concern for society against the Devil and witchcraft....

It seems to be that Mather makes this deduction with guidance from his
observations and is his driving force behind writing Wonders. He feels as though
the Devil is running rampant through the colony that he has poured his heart into
and also that it is a personal attack against him. Even though he understands
everything that is taking place, he doesn t have the power as a single person to
destroy it. All of this comes as though Mather knew this would happen to the
colony at a certain point. This preface can be seen when Mather begins to discuss
how the Ephesians were rejoicing in God s gospel and the Devil began to try and
dismantle all of their joy (151). The whole situation seems to be a prophetic
experience for Mather which leads to him realizing how rooted the Devil is in his
colony and the destruction that he is causing. He later goes on to state that, the devil
has made a dreadful knot of witches in the county implying, once again, the rooted
aspect of the Devil (152). This expresses one of the true characteristics of why Mather
brought Wonders to life; he wants people to understand the true magnitude of what is
happening and the reason behind
Summary Of Michael Jordan And The New Global
Capitalism
In the novel, Michael Jordan and the New Global Capitalism , the author, Walter
LaFerber compares the co founder of Nike, Phil Knight, to former American
magnates such as John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and various other
industrialists in order to successfully label him as a modern day Robber Baron .
The comparisons between Knight and earlier moguls comprise a large part of the
novel. It began when Knight realized the opportunity he had when Michael Jordan
began to become a more visible figure in the sports world. Like many successful
entrepreneurs before him, Knight quickly latched on to the star and began promoting
his product in a way that could reach a multitude of people, and advertise his athletic
products in a way that would cause them to sell in great numbers, Nike was

In a sense, this can be compared to the way in which Robber Barons before Knight
saw opportunities in the market, and quickly jumped on them in order to maximize
their profit, and push competitors to the wayside. Furthermore, Knight did not simply
stop with signing the most visible athletes, in order to steadily push his competition
further out of the way he went on to sign entire teams, He signed not just individual
stars, but entire colleges. These schools, famous for their sports teams, promised to
use Nike equipment nearly exclusively in return for large sums of money (65).
Knights tactics in steamrolling the competition are comparable to the way
Rockefeller formed Standard Oil which put other such companies out of
Intellectual Disability, Better, Or Better Known As ( Id )...
Intellectual Disability, better known as (ID) is a disorder. Most people who have
(ID), if not found out about in childhood, may get misdiagnosed. There are different
components that determine a person s diagnosis of Intellectual Disability. Genetic
factors (A person s genetic makeup); Prenatal issues and illnesses (before birth);
Childhood illnesses and issues as well as Environmental factors all play a part in the
determinant of Intellectual Disability(WebMD,2016). Because Intellectual Disability
is a neurodevelopmental disorder, it affects a person s intellectual and adaptive
functioning.
Testing of one s IQ (Intellectual Quotient) will determine their Intellectual level.
There are three levels of Intellectual disability. When there is Mild Intellectual
Disability, a person s (IQ) is below 70 (50 69) as well as impairments in two or more
adaptive areas. A person in this stage may not be discovered until they are of
school age In the second stage, Moderate Intellectual Disability, a person s (IQ) is
between the range of (35 49). Delays are noticeable very early in life because the
child may display a big delay in learning skills, such as walking and talking, which
are very big indicators of a Moderate Intellectual Disability. Those who have
Moderate Intellectual Disability usually live at home with parents or in some type of
supportive housing. Severe/Profound Intellectual Disability is the most serious. A
person s (IQ) is lower than 35, typically (20 30) and these

Investigating Correlation Between A Solution Salt...
The objective of this experiment is to determine the correlation between a solution s
salt concentration and its density. Also, it was to determine what equipment would be
best to use to measure volume precisely and accurately. Densities of a series of
known salt solutions were trialed three times and then averaged. By following the
procedures, the unknown salt solution was determined and graphed to calculate the
percent salt to the sample.
Introduction
In chemistry there are often times an unknown solution s density must be determined
by using the known solutions. There are a variety of modern ways that chemist use to
determine an unknown, but the simplest method to find the identity is by using a
common equation: p=M/V P is the density, M is the mass, and V is the volume. Once
the densities of the compounds are known, the density of the unknown solution can
be compared to the four known solutions. When being compared the solutions can be
graphed by plotting density against the percentages of NaCl. Once graphed there will
be an evident straight line graph.

4.Scale that measures mass in grams
Procedure. For this experiment, the first task was to determine which equipment
would be used to measure volume accurately. The choices were a 10.0 mL
Carpentry Was Very Good To Me For 12 Years
I enjoyed carpentry and it was very good to me for 12 years . This was a quote said
by the actor, Harrison Ford, as he was discussing how helpful the trade of carpentry
was for him. A carpenter is one who repairs and constructs frameworks and
structures. They install siding, kitchen cabinets, and they also drywall. The pieces
they build and repair are usually made from wood. Becoming a carpenter is a
perfect choice for someone who likes physical work, has excellent employment
opportunities, and a solid pay. A carpenter is always involved in physical work.
Carpentry requires the use of tools and machines, such as hammers, saws, and chisels.
Carpenters construct hospitals, houses, and other large projects. They are also
experts in scaffolding.
What Conditions Do You Need To Grow Rice
Has there been any minds in this world that thought of breaking a permanent logic?
If there is, it would simply turn into a ridiculous joke from someone s eyes, but
from a certain person s sight is a delicacy, deeply craving for an answer. Rice
farming has been a traditional part of living since the old days. It has become an
essential part of humanity s survival, progress, and growth. From plains to mountains
to the hills to desolate lands, it has been grown in different places like in Japan.
Many believe that riceis a seasonal plant that can only grow in one season and
growing it in any other season will only diminish its growth and led to failure.
However with the current changes of living, it eventually made people think
farther and in a different way that it became unreasonable. It is possible to grow
rice in any season because it depends on the land condition, other country can grow
it, and having proper material, resources, layout, and planning. The condition of
the land is an important factor for growing rice. According to Brian Barth from
What Conditions Do You Need To Grow Rice , he stated the growing rice should
be kept weed free, has moisturize soil and is well fertilized with a source of
nitrogen . Brian Barth gave away the essential requirements of a good plot of land
where rice can grow without relying to the season. The weeds remove for spaces, the
wet soil that provides nutrients and both the fertilizerand nitrogen for further
nourishment of the rice
The Vatican City
Where would I travel to is a great question because there are so many places that I
would love to go and explore. Many counties have different cultures, history, foods
and their art for example Germany, England, The Vatican City and many more. In
this paper, I m going to talk about The Vatican City and all the things the area has to
offer. The Vatican City
is very historical area and their culture and their structures,
landmarks and the art.
The Vatican s history as the seat of the Roman Catholic Church and home to it leader
the Pope. The Catholic church began with the construction of a basilica over St.
Peter s grave in Rome in the 4th century A.D. The Vatican City was developed into a
pilgrimage site and commercial district although it was left after the move of the
papal court to France in 1309. When the church returned in 1377 and now famous
landmarks like the Apostolic palace, the Sistine Chapel and the new St. Peter s
Basilica were established within the city limits. The Vatican City was established in
this current form as a sovereign nation with the Lateran Pacts of 1929 signed. The St.
Peter Basilica Palace has been home to 55 different Popes.
The Culture in this very small area is very spiritual. The City is a little more than
two square miles inside the city of Rome. There are approximately 850 Italian and
Swiss permanent residents, along with lay workers from Catholic communities
around the world. The Vatican perimeter is surrounded by Medieval and Renaissance

For their sacrifices to the United States, veterans receive care, respect, prestige, and

million veterans, including 3.8 million disabled veterans, and 239,000 veterans with
a 100 percent disability rating. Veterans of the US military often face challenges with
readjusting to civilian life. For instance, the VA estimates that up to 20 percent of
returning veterans from Iraq have post traumatic stress disorder. Fortunately, the VA

General MacArthur, the Commander of the Allied Forces during World War II, once
said that I hold no branch [of the military] in higher esteem than the Merchant Marine.
Since its founding in 1775 the Merchant Marine has supported the United States in
every single war it has fought. In their missions, mariners play a crucial non combat
role that forces them into enemy fire. For instance during World War II, Merchant
Mariners maintained the supply lines [to Europe and the Pacific] that provided...
everything that the Allied armies needed in order to survive. The New York Times
pointed out that the invasion of Normandy would not have been possible without the
Merchant Marine. Knowing this, German U Boats intentionally targeted Merchant
Marine ships throughout the war, sinking them faster than the United States could
build them.8 Alongside marines, sailors, soldiers, and airmen, mariners made the
same sacrifices. In total, 3.9 percent or 1 in 26 mariners died as a result of the war,
more than any other branch of the military.9 Nearly 10,000 mariners died World War

the GI Bill and disability compensation. After the war ended, many former mariners
became derelicts without homes after the war... and some even committed suicide.
Mariners never received the support network of care, respect, prestige, and

Comparative Analysis of Cultural Ideologies in Norway and the United States
The intent of this paper is to examine individualistic and communitarian cultural
ideologies within two distinctly different political environments. The first challenge
in comparing two nations is deciding which approach is most appropriate. There are
several approaches in political science that have proven most beneficial when making
comparisons. This study will use a comparative government approach to examine the
political institutions, processes, constitutions, and functions of government within
each of the two countries selected. The countries that have been chosen for this study
are United States and Norway, respectively. Gregory Scott believes ... Show more

The problem is that our individual actions, each perfectly consistent with our
individual preferences, can and often do combine to produce collective outcomes that
none of us would have chosen (Bickers, 11). And thus lead to the need for protection
against those outcomes, administered through a democratic government.
There are several authors that are noted for their dynamic research on the
communitarian movement. The spokesperson for the contemporary communitarian
movement is Amitai Etzioni. He explains that communitarians believe that the
fundamental and central political problem is finding the right amount of togetherness
and common concern. He continues, if people are to individualistic, they fail to
support each other s efforts and to respect each other s needs. If people are too
unified, they become authoritarian and attempt to use the state to impose a common
set of beliefs and practices.
Like ancient philosophers, communitarians find the lack of unified purpose and
direction in society to be a crucial problem. Those who speak of the joys of not
associating with others, but of being left alone by them, are most closely associated
with individualism. And their noteworthy spokesperson is author and abolitionist
Henry David Thoreau. This early author, observing the pressures, expectations, and
demands made upon us by the societies in which we live, concluded that the mass of
men lead lives of quiet desperation (Scott, 51). The
Polyptid Research Paper
Polypeptides are chains of amino acids, which are all proteins. Proteins are made
and developed outside the nucleus; in the ribosome. The way strung amino acids are
put together is very important. The individual 3D and sequence must be correct, or
else you will have a completely different protein. There are two different types of
RNAwhich are involved in the entire process. They are transfer RNA (tRNA) and
messenger RNA(mRNA). The mRNA, in the process of making new proteins, makes

The Apartheid Of South Africa s Apartheid System Became
A...
The concept of amnesty is one of the main reasons the TRC has been widely
criticized. However, the people involved in the formation of the TRC believed that
the amnesty provision was the key negotiating factor and without it a peaceful
settlement would not have been possible. In addition, the TRC asked for anyone
involved in gross human rightsviolations which included the killing, abduction,
torture or severe ill treatment of any person, to step forward and confess.
Through the process of truth finding the true nature of South Africa s apartheid
system became a national memory. As a result, it was no longer possible for anyone
in South Africa to pretend that the abuses perpetrated under apartheid did not happen.
In almost all of the studies on truth commissions, the importance of hearing the truth
is described as critical to the country s ability to move forward. It is noted that
reconciliation is impossible if a society wants to remain ignorant about its past.
According to Hamber, when countries are attempting to overcome a violent past, it is
better to deal with the past through investigations, truth recovery, justice, and support
for victims and survivors of violence than to ignore it. Furthermore, all the literature
on reconciliation says that if the truth is ignored it can breed resentment and create
violence. In addition, the power of telling the truth allows victims to gain back the
psychological control the perpetrators held over them. As Hamber notes,
Cole V South Tweed Heads Rugby League Football Club
The High court reached the correct decision in Cole V South Tweed Heads Rugby
League Football Club Limited [2004] HCA ( The club ) on a number of grounds.
The New South Wales Court of Appeal Wales held that the club owed Ms Cole
only the general duty of care owed by the occupier of premises to a lawful entrant.
This duty did not extend to protecting patrons from harm of the kind suffered by Ms
Cole caused by intoxication. Ms Cole appealed to the High Court. The High Court,
by a 4 2 majority, dismissed the appeal. It held that an adult in Ms Cole s position
knew the effects and risks of excessive drinking and that the club had done all that
could be expected of it to ensure her safety. The decision reached by the High Court
is in line with the current legislation and common law dictates, concerning the legal
position of an intoxicated plaintiff and the duty of care in relation to an intoxicated
plaintiff.
The judgement in Cole provides confirmation of the direction of the Court s
jurisprudence in terms of a contraction in the law of negligence, as the last outpost of
the welfare state . In addition, Cole also suggests that we might as a community want
to pause to reconsider the balance struck between the privacy of individual consumers
of alcohol and broader community safety concerns.
I. LEGAL POSITION OF AN INTOXICATED PLAINTIFF
The decision of the High Court in regards to the intoxication of the plaintiff and
resulting level of liability is echoed in sections 49 and 50
Ancient Roman Architecture
The building borrowed from mainly large scale ancient Roman buildings. One of
the most principle design was the longitudinal axis as the building now had the
focus of attention to the opposite end to the entrance. This was because it was a
church thus that design enabled number of people to gather for the liturgy with an
inward focus on the altar. Another principle design is the series of arches/pillars
on both sides, that are continuous throughout the side of the church. The purpose
of that is to again lead your eyes into the critical point of the church, the altar. Note
that the pillars are in corinthian style. Another notable design is the wooden door
in the entrance which it has carved imageries of scenes from the Bible, basically a
frieze but on wood. There is also, inside the church one aisle on each side behind
the arches/pillars, and the central naive which has a wide open space. Also opposite
of the church there is the altar which is in a semi circular space. Above the altar
there is a beautiful painting, probably a frieze, above the altar which is highly
polychromed, even using rare colors like blue. Another notable feature was the use of
clerestory which lit the church with sunlight softly... Show more content on

Also the use of the clerestory was an adaption from Rome but went as far back as
to Ancient Egypt. Mostly the frescoes and even the pillars being made of marble is
an adaptation from the Romans. The arches/pillar system is meant to focus the
attention toward the altar, for obvious reasons. This also includes the longitudinal
axis trying to pull your attention toward the pillar. The sanctuary screen was also
there to separate the main altar area and the nave. Also the aisles on both side and
the wide nave was there so that large amount of people can move into the church
easily. Also frescos and images of christian related things in the church also laid down
the needs for Christian

Awareness on the Importance on Bees
I.Introduction
A.Attention Getter: How many of you guys have seen the Bee Movie? Well for
those that haven t the movie is basically about how Bees have to work together along
with a human to continue pollinating and produce honey in order for them to keep
our environment healthy for the plants/trees to continue growing so that we can keep
having those resources for many years.
B.Background and Audience Relevance: Recently there has been awareness about
bringing back the bees or topics about how the bees are disappearing. But although
there is talk about this issues there is still people who do not know why we should
even care ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bees are more than just bugs that we like to run away from in order to not get
stung by them, but they are one of the reasons why we are able to place food on our
tables. For instance, fruits and vegetables such as apples, oranges, lemons, broccoli,
blueberries, and carrots just to mention a few. Without the bees being around there
wouldn t be any insect that can produce such crops as they do for us.
Transition to second main point: Now that I have discussed the factors that bees help
us with their pollination now I will discuss about the effects that pollination has been
having on them.
III.Main Point 2: To further understand why the reason bees are disappearing has to
do with pollution because of fossil fuel and the other reason because of Colony
Collapse Disorder (CCD).
A.Pollution does not only affect us humans but it also affects the lives of the bees.
Pollination has increased throughout the years and it will continue to increase but
as a result bees have been confusing fossil fuel odors with other scents from the air
preventing them to recognize the smells of the pollen. Meaning since most of these
bees rely on scents to land on flowers to get their pollen in order to keep producing, it
will become hard for them to do so because they will not know where to
Analysis Of The Godfather Part 2
The Godfather Part 2 resonates with me because it deals with being an
entrepreneur and doing whatever it takes to keep the money and business flowing.
While I might not be running an illicit, family business worth millions of dollars, I
have had my fair share of smaller businesses and ideas to make a little bit of money.
The Corleone s had businesses in many different areas, most of them being
illegitimate in some way or another. The only way for them to stay afloat was to use
their wits and have the lead of Vito and then Michael Corleone. For a couple years, I
sold fake soccer jerseys and while it was not a super illegal crime, it was not totally
legitimate. I cannot help but think of myself in the Corleone s position as a Don
making... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this point in the movie, Michael is explaining how he has continued his father s
success: If anything in this life is certain, if history s taught us anything, it s that
you can kill anyone. Michael explains his very unorthodox and illegal way of
dealing with threats to his empire. It shows how for some it is impossible to
achieve the American Dream by legal ways, so people resort to illegal means, which
is still an immense issue in the United States to this day.
Adding on to that, The Godfather Part II also shows how America truly is a Melting
Pot of many different cultures. When the movie depicts Vito s first experiences right
off the boat on Ellis Island, it truly gives the sense of how many different cultures
were immigrating to the United States. At customs, it shows many different types of
people all types of languages, but they were all staying in the same spot. Continuing
on that, the entire movie is focused on an Italian family and how they were able to
become successful even though they were different than everybody else. While this
part of the Melting Pot it positive, the movie also depicts the clash and conflicts
between the many different cultures, which is something that has happened all
throughout American history. The Godfather in its core is a fictional movie about a
crime filled family, but in reality, it vividly shows many different reoccurring themes
in America. It highlights many of the themes
Race As A Social Construct
Race as a social construct refers to a group that is socially and culturally defined on
the basis of physical criteria. During European colonisation, Europeans came into
contact with people from different areas of the world and after speculating the
physical, cultural and social differences between the groups; these groups were
placed in races. By defining racial classifications, racismensues. Racism is
discriminating, exerting prejudice and or power over a group or individual based on
the belief that an individual s group is superior to another. Shadism is dependant
upon the existence of Racism. Shadism refers to the amount of melanin in a person s
skin, which is used to define a persons worth within that racial category.
Shadism and Racism are both a large part in Hollywood and the casting process.
There has been a recent concentration online on institutional racism in Hollywood;
social media movements have brought attention towards, the casting process and the
lack of diversity at the Oscars. The persistent snubbing of people of colour (POC) in
Hollywood is being recognised. However, has this changed the representation of POC
in films?
The upcoming biography, drama, Nina (2016) has been the centre of much
controversy and has consequently, brought about conversations regarding shadism
and blackface. In the trailer for the film, actress Zoe Saldana plays Nina alongside
her onscreen personal assistant David Oyelowo. The trailer received a large amount
of criticism due

watermarks with patterned beaters, printing designs with bamboo stamps,
achieving greens and blues with vegetable dyes and beating perfumed flora into
the cloth to give off a nice fragrance. At least 68 individual types of kapa were
produced, each with a specific name. Kapa was used for many things other than
clothing, including bedding or sheet material and as banners or as wrapping

Importance of Mother
The Importance of the Presence of the Mother During the First Three Years
Organized by Sheila Kippley (February 28, 2005)
Purpose Mothers have told me that they have been influenced by those experts and
writers who state that the presence of the mother during the early years is extremely
important to their child s optimal development. This knowledge has helped them to
make decisions that enable them to remain with their children or at least cut back on
their hours away from their little ones. There are many different views on how to
raise children, but this is not the place to have a discussion on parenting issues. Many
experts and ordinary persons agree that the mother plays an important role in the
development of her child, emotionally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A baby must have a mother, a mother who is mature enough to attend to its needs and
provide so called object constancy for a minimum of three years... The mothering
function is one of the most important of all human events but, unfortunately, one of
the least appreciated or regarded by society.
Harold Voth, M.D., Medical Times, November 1980.
Let me once again emphasize that the natural transitions between sexual intercourse,
pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and early childhood form a cohesive physiological
basis for the development of maternal infant attachment as it gradually progresses
from conception to weaning in the second or third year of life. No amount of
technology will improve on this biologically determined pattern that was set in place
by a personal Creator, nor can anything that is artificially produced fully replace the
spiritual significance and the emotional satisfaction that these experiences can
produce in a woman s life.
Debra Evans, Heart Home, p. 133.
In the first three years of life every human being undergoes yet a second birth, in
which he is born as a psychological being possessing selfhood and separate identity.
The quality of self an infant achieves in those crucial three years will profoundly
affect all of his subsequent existence.
Comparing Cave Prisoners And Neo Leaving The Matrix
Once the cave prisoners and Neo are released from their state of ignorance, they
start to become more understanding of the outside world, as represented by the
cave dwellers escaping the cave, and Neo leaving the matrix. As the prisoners are
in the cave, watching the shadows pass on the wall, one of their prisoners is
released from the shackles. Because of his natural curiosity, the prisoners turns his
head to look outside the cave. Whilst looking outside the cave, the light from
outside and will cause him to suffer sharp pains; the glare will distress him, and he
will not be able to see the realities of which in his former state he had seen the
shadows (33 35). Because of the looming darkness always present in the cave, the
bright light of the sun blinds the prisonermomentarily.... Show more content on

In the prisoner s past state, the shadows were his reality, but when the prisoner
goes outside for the first time do the shadows of the past slip away and become a
ghost of the world he once knew. The prisoners leaving the cave and experiencing a
new world can be similar to how Neo reacts once he leaves the cave and enters the
matrix. When Neo first meets Morpheus, he is given the option of choosing a red
pill or a blue pill. The red pill represents the world outside of the Matrix, and Neo s
possibly last chance to escape this world where he currently resides in. The blue pill
represents Neo s desire to stay in the matrix, where everything he knows is. Neo ends
up taking the red pill, and is transported out of the
The Role Of Moses In Machiavelli
The Bible portrays Moses as an indignant vigilante faced by the oppression of his
confrГЁres, as the instigator of the revolt of the enslaved Israelites, as the leader of
a newly constituted people, as a legislator, and as a political founder. Of course, the
Bible explicitly says that Moses is the servant of God who acts only under the orders
of a supreme and divine ruler. Yet Moses
seems to be the human leader of God s
chosen people and plays an undeniably political role. To read the biblepolitically is a
question of determining how to interpret Moses and the exit from Egypt. From the
outset, it is important to note that Moses does not appear as the representative of a
certain form of politics whose mottoes and convictions he would manifest.
On the contrary, Moses plays the role of an emblematic political figure in political
theories. Moses approaches to political thought are varied and contradictory.
Machiavelli proposes a realistic view of Moses, he is interested in the biblical
character and emphasizes the anthropological realism that Moses demonstrated, but
he is also interested in portraying Moses in the image of his own political narrative.
Machiavelli demonstrates that he is convinced that the Bible offers a realistic and
even disenchanted view of men who oppose any form of political idealism. According
to Machiavelli, the Bible shows men as determined by their passions that forbid them,
most of the time, from virtuous behavior. Upon greater scrutiny, the Bible
The Crucible Sheila Quotes Analysis
When she was physically or mentally, Sheila retaliated and seldom reacted to the
situation properly because she was unable to keep her emotions under control. In
this scene, Torey has just arrived from 4 day vacation and the other educators were
describing how Sheila had behaved. Sheila went absolutely berserk. She refused to

gave Peter a bloody nose on Friday. She wouldn t do any work at all. (Hayden 122)
This quote illustrates how Sheila went on a rampage while Torey was gone. Sheila
knew that she could make Torey angry by refusing to cooperate with anyone else and
being destructive in the classroom. Torey Hayden s purpose is to show that Sheila let

Economic development is a broader term than economic growth Economic growth
usually means the growth in production of an economy. On the other hand, economic
development includes other fsctors such as litemcyy health, child mortality rate,

The difference between economic growth and economic development is a subtle
Features of the one. Let us take the example of a child. As a child grows her weight
and height increases. Simultaneously, her capacity to leam, recognize and distinguish
between objects develops. Thus growth is not sufficient; we need development also.
Similarly, in the case of the Indian economy economic growth is not enough; we need
economic development. We need better health of people, education for all, reduction
in inequality among sections of people and regions, reduction in infant mortality rate
(IMR), access to drinking water for all, etc. The government has to devise policies

Analysis Of Her Kind By Anne Sexton
Every author, poet, playwright has a subtle message that they would like present
to their audience. It may be a lifelong struggle that they have put into words, or a
multiple page book that took a lifetime to write. A poet by the name of Anne
Sexton sought out to challenge society s views of women by writing Her Kind . A
poet, a playwright, and an author of children s books, Anne Sexton writes about
the conflicts of a social outcast living in modern times. She voices the hardships
she faces through three different speakers in her poem. At the end of the poem,
the woman is not ashamed nor afraid of whom she is and is ready to die in peace.
In Anne Sexton s poem Her Kind , the main idea the speaker is depicting is the
multiple stereotypes placed on a woman, by society. Sexton s vivid use of imagery
paints a picture of the witch, house wife, and mother clichГ©, while also implying
the poem is autobiographical as Sexton went through her own personal struggles
during her life. To begin her dissection of society s almost degrading clichГ© s of
how a woman should act, Sexton begins Her Kind by writing about the witch
stereotype, by using two voices, the speaker s voice and Sexton s. Sexton begins
the first stanza, by writing about a witch who only comes out at night. She writes,
Haunting the black air, braver the night; dreaming evil, I have done my hitch.
(445: Line 2 3). The being that Sexton is depicting is of the supernatural form as
she only comes out at night because she feels that she can best express herself at
night. Sexton also writes, Lonely thing, twelve fingered, out of mind (445: Line
5). A witch that has twelve fingers is bound to be cast out, by society because of
her abnormality. The dark and gothic tone the speaker uses in this stanza such as:
possessed, haunting, black, evil, lonely, twelve fingered, out of mind, creates an
escape for the speaker who is obviously different from the rest of the world. She feels
safe from the judgmental eyes of suburbia, she feels safer to express herself at
night. Society s voice in this stanza suggests that witches like the speaker are evil
and have no place in their idyllic world. The speaker mocks society s opinion of her,
by agreeing with it in
Persuasive Essay On Animal Dissection
Most people have dissected an animal at some point in their education, be it a frog,
pig, cat, or another animal. Every year in the United States, roughly ten million
animals are killed and used for dissection in schools ( Animals Used in Education
1).The surplus of students dissecting animals in class has led to this substantial
number. Dissectionis said to increase student understanding of biology and an interest
in careers in science (Edulab 1), which is why countless schools have their students
dissect animals. However, others advocate for methods that don t involve cruelty to
animals. Why use a learning technique if other methods are less expensive, and some
tactics equally or more effective regarding student learning? Essentially, an abundance
of schools incorporate animal dissection as an educational tool, but they seldom think
of how negatively the lives of countless animals are impacted. People don t fathom
the cruelty that happens to animals before they land on the dissection table, and that
is something that needs to be changed. The dissection of animals for educationhas
been a traditionally used teaching tactic for decades, and it is cruel and should no
longer be used. To start, the suppliers of the animals to be dissected have been caught
mistreating their animals. PETA s investigations into biological supply companies,
which sell animal bodies and parts, have uncovered acts of cruelty to animals,
including the drowning of rabbits and the embalming of cats

The Zoot Riots Of WWII
WWII was by far the biggest devastation involving deaths due to war. With 60 to 80
million deaths, WWII was one of the worst chapters in American history. At first the
United States thought that Europe s conflict could be obtained and kept within the
country. So the US did not react as quickly as we now know they should have. Japan
was a country that went on a short power trip which later would cause the United
Statesto get involved with WWII. Japan wanted regional domination, and in
completing this mission they took it a step too far. Japan wanted to take over
Dutch East Indies and British Malaya for their oil rich resource. The US wouldn t
go down without a fight. Knowing this, Japan decided to try to have the upper and
by plotting to attack Pearl Harbor. On December 8, 1941, Pearl Harbor was bombed
by the Japanese. The morning after the Pearl Harbor attack the United States
officially declared war on Japan.
Entry 2 What were the Zoot Suit Riots of 1943? First of all, zoot suits were a jazz
inspired outfit that consisted of high waisted wool trousers with loose long tailed
suit coats worn by mostly the Hispanic race. This attire gave people who wore them
a bad reputation as someone who commits crimes. These riots occurred during WWII
between Mexican American youth gangs and sailors and policeman that were
stationed near the city. June of 1943 is when the Zoot Suit Riots started taking place.
After many street fights between the zoot suits and white soldiers, there
Where To Invade Next Michael Moore Analysis
In Where to Invade Next a satirical documentary, Michael Moore compares U.S.
public policies to european countries like Italy and France. In this documentary
Moore uses what seems to be strong logos until you realize that he is card stacking.
He also uses quite a bit of pathos as he talks about things in other countries that we
would love to have in the U.S. like 8 weeks paid vacation or free college tuition.
Michael Mooreis trying to persuade the U.S. to be more like it was supposed to be
when it was created. Like how you should with any argument he starts off by
building up his ethos. In the movie Moore states that all of America s generals
came to him for help saying that they Had not won a war since WWII. Moore told
them to take a break and send everyone on a vacation while he... Show more content

First he shows us a working class Italian couple and how they go on multiple
vacations a year because everyone in Italy gets 8 weeks paid vacation. He then

Even with all of these vacations and time off Italy is only ranked slightly below
the U.S. in productivity, that s because when you are well rested and relaxed you
produce much higher quality stuff and get more done then if you where tired and
overworked. This looks amazing! Like there could be no downside to this
argument, we should just pick it up immediately and bring this to America. But
what Moore fails to do it tell what this has done to the Italian economy. Italy is
currently undergoing huge economic reform because of the amount of money it
takes to fund their vacations. Italy currently has one of the worst GNPs in the world
with an annual growth rate of 1.9%. They also have an unimportant rate of 12%. If
we adopted this in the U.S. It would have even worse effects because of our increased

Experience Is The Best Teacher Essay

  • 1. Experience Is The Best Teacher Essay Crafting an essay on the theme "Experience Is The Best Teacher" presents a unique set of challenges. While the topic is broad and allows for personal reflection, it also demands a delicate balance between anecdotal experiences and broader, more universally applicable insights. The difficulty lies in translating personal lessons into a narrative that resonates with a diverse audience, making the essay relatable and insightful. One might find it challenging to strike the right tone, avoiding the pitfall of being overly didactic or excessively anecdotal. Balancing the subjective nature of personal experiences with an objective analysis of their educational value requires finesse. Additionally, the task involves delving into one's own life, evaluating pivotal moments, and extracting valuable lessons while ensuring that the narrative remains coherent and engaging. The complexity of the essay is further heightened by the need to connect individual experiences with broader philosophical or educational perspectives. Integrating relevant theories or scholarly viewpoints can enhance the depth of the essay, but doing so without losing the personal touch can be demanding. • 3. Nursing Shortage and Nurse Turnover Nursing shortage and Nurse Turnover The ongoing instability evidenced from the high mobility of qualified nurses in the nursing workforce has raised many questions about the issue of nursing shortage and nurse turnover (Gates Jones, 2007). The paper below discusses the issues of nursing shortage and nurse turnover. The paper also describes how leaders as well as managers in the nursing fraternity and other leaders can resolve those problems effectively and the different applicable principles, skills, roles of the leader, and theories of leadership and management. There are various factors that are contributing to the current nursing shortage and turnover. Apparently the major contributing factors in the USA are a population of nurses that are getting older without adequate replacement, there are fewer than expected faculties dedicated to nursing, there are more career fields opening up particularly for women hence the alternative choices instead of nursing, federal government s failure to fund the nursing education across the country, generally unpleasant working conditions and terms, poor retention of the nurses as well as an overstretched hence overworked nursing staff. According to Paller (2012), the nursing shortage in different countries for example the United States tends not to be the only growing problem, but has also become a complex one. Nursing shortage and nurse s turnover has become the worsening predicament in the health care industry in the United
  • 4. Adrienne Rich s Of Woman Born – The End of Motherhood Essay Of Woman Born The End of Motherhood In Of Woman Born, Adrienne Rich effectively weaves her own story into a convincing account of what it means to become a mother within the bonds of patriarchal culture. Her conclusion that the institution of motherhood, which she distinguishes from motherhood, must be destroyed in order to release the creation and sustenance of life into the same realm of decision, struggle, surprise, imagination, and conscious intelligence, as any other difficult, but freely chosen work is substantiated by her courageous confession that contradicts culturally normative notions of motherhood. Allowing readers to glimpse her own story as she painfully evaluates her role as mother side by side with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... because [she] felt [her] own needs acutely and often expressed them violently (32) by raging at her children out of frustration, provides a credible offering to break down an institution that makes women like her angry. It also demonstrates some of the ways in which motherhood has not been women s choice. A reader might be stunned to consider that was written just twenty years ago and that Rich s first pregnancy happened only forty three years ago, since her choices as an educated woman were so limited compared to now. When her account of feeling like she was only acting as a woman (having no idea what she wanted, and having a child because it was expected of a real woman ) is introduced, her lack of choices reads like either a dismal Margaret Atwood science fiction novel or a scene from the very long ago past. Similary, when Rich cites her example of a primitive attitude by quoting a doctor s medical opinion that women are psychologically unbalanced when they attempt to resist the demands of the institution [of motherhood], (263) it is quite surprising to realize that this opinion was written in 1967, a mere thirty years ago. In this way, Rich s story is a tribute to all women who have fought her battle, the battle to have the freedom to choose motherhood. Rich must feel a deep sense of satisfaction in realizing that articulating her struggles has helped many women. Her capacity to transcend her own circumstances is truly remarkable

Comparing Wyatt s The Long Love That in My Thought Doth Harbor and Donne s The Flea Every century has its own poetry; poetry has its own personality and aspects, especially love poems. In the sixteenth century, poems about love were more about the court than the lover. In the next century (the seventeenth), the poems of love were more about courting the lover. • 6. Globalization Of Globalization Is the international political economy more globalized today than in 2000? One could argue that the groundwork for such a phenomenon has been soundly laid by the post World War machinations that generated entities such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. No doubt, events such as the terror attack, a particularly nasty form of globalization, that occurred on September 11th, 2001, raised awareness of globalization in general as we realized that a plot conceived in Afghanistan, Germany, and elsewhere could be brought to fruition within our own borders. (Keohane :2004) Certainly, technological innovations like the smartphone, social media, and e commerce have enriched the already fertile global ground that brought forth a level of global interdependence, shared knowledge, and communication laying the groundwork for what is now referred to as the age of globalization. (Scholte :2000) However, much of this may have facilitated the process, but most certainly fueled global perception of the reality of an enmeshed economic, political, and social system. Whatever the case may be with the preceding, the globalization of international political economy is evident as problems from weakened states, decreasing political autonomy, and powerful non state actors now shape international economic, political, and social spheres alongside to the consternation of the global political hegemony. • 9. The Wonders Of The Invisible World Chapter Summary Throughout time, historians have relied on first person encounters to accurately depict the world and the people at a certain time. Cotton Mather s, The Wonders of the Invisible World, does exactly that by giving the reader a perspective into the Salem witch trials as well as a first person view from Mather himself. Through this work, Mather shares his opinions on the actions taken in the trials and the works of the Devil and God inside of New England. During this time period, religion played a significant part in society such that it was a driving force behind the hysteria created. This hysteria doesn t seem to reach Mather, but rather he seems to be compelled to write due to his pre existing concern for society against the Devil and witchcraft.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems to be that Mather makes this deduction with guidance from his observations and is his driving force behind writing Wonders. He feels as though the Devil is running rampant through the colony that he has poured his heart into and also that it is a personal attack against him. Even though he understands everything that is taking place, he doesn t have the power as a single person to destroy it. All of this comes as though Mather knew this would happen to the colony at a certain point. This preface can be seen when Mather begins to discuss how the Ephesians were rejoicing in God s gospel and the Devil began to try and dismantle all of their joy (151). The whole situation seems to be a prophetic experience for Mather which leads to him realizing how rooted the Devil is in his colony and the destruction that he is causing. He later goes on to state that, the devil has made a dreadful knot of witches in the county implying, once again, the rooted aspect of the Devil (152). This expresses one of the true characteristics of why Mather brought Wonders to life; he wants people to understand the true magnitude of what is happening and the reason behind
  • 10. Summary Of Michael Jordan And The New Global Capitalism In the novel, Michael Jordan and the New Global Capitalism , the author, Walter LaFerber compares the co founder of Nike, Phil Knight, to former American magnates such as John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and various other industrialists in order to successfully label him as a modern day Robber Baron . The comparisons between Knight and earlier moguls comprise a large part of the novel. It began when Knight realized the opportunity he had when Michael Jordan began to become a more visible figure in the sports world. Like many successful entrepreneurs before him, Knight quickly latched on to the star and began promoting his product in a way that could reach a multitude of people, and advertise his athletic products in a way that would cause them to sell in great numbers, Nike was steamrolling its competitors out of the market. Furthermore, Knight did not simply stop with signing the most visible athletes, in order to steadily push his competition further out of the way he went on to sign entire teams, He signed not just individual stars, but entire colleges. These schools, famous for their sports teams, promised to use Nike equipment nearly exclusively in return for large sums of money (65). • 13. Investigating Correlation Between A Solution Salt... The objective of this experiment is to determine the correlation between a solution s salt concentration and its density. Also, it was to determine what equipment would be best to use to measure volume precisely and accurately. Densities of a series of known salt solutions were trialed three times and then averaged. By following the procedures, the unknown salt solution was determined and graphed to calculate the percent salt to the sample. Introduction In chemistry there are often times an unknown solution s density must be determined by using the known solutions. There are a variety of modern ways that chemist use to determine an unknown, but the simplest method to find the identity is by using a common equation: p=M/V P is the density, M is the mass, and V is the volume. Once the densities of the compounds are known, the density of the unknown solution can be compared to the four known solutions. When being compared the solutions can be graphed by plotting density against the percentages of NaCl. Once graphed there will be an evident straight line graph. Experimental General Methods and Materials. Materials: 1.NaCl solutions of the following strengths: 6% 12% 18%, 24% 2.Unknown brine solution 3.Volumetric flasks, small beakers, droppers, 10 mL and 50 mL graduated cylinders 4.Scale that measures mass in grams Procedure. For this experiment, the first task was to determine which equipment would be used to measure volume accurately. The choices were a 10.0 mL

From plains to mountains to the hills to desolate lands, it has been grown in different places like in Japan. Many believe that riceis a seasonal plant that can only grow in one season and growing it in any other season will only diminish its growth and led to failure. However with the current changes of living, it eventually made people think farther and in a different way that it became unreasonable. It is possible to grow rice in any season because it depends on the land condition, other country can grow it, and having proper material, resources, layout, and planning. The condition of the land is an important factor for growing rice. According to Brian Barth from What Conditions Do You Need To Grow Rice , he stated the growing rice should be kept weed free, has moisturize soil and is well fertilized with a source of nitrogen . Brian Barth gave away the essential requirements of a good plot of land where rice can grow without relying to the season. The weeds remove for spaces, the wet soil that provides nutrients and both the fertilizerand nitrogen for further nourishment of the rice

Many counties have different cultures, history, foods and their art for example Germany, England, The Vatican City and many more. In this paper, I m going to talk about The Vatican City and all the things the area has to offer. The Vatican City is very historical area and their culture and their structures, landmarks and the art. The Vatican s history as the seat of the Roman Catholic Church and home to it leader the Pope. The Catholic church began with the construction of a basilica over St. Peter s grave in Rome in the 4th century A.D. The Vatican City was developed into a pilgrimage site and commercial district although it was left after the move of the papal court to France in 1309. When the church returned in 1377 and now famous landmarks like the Apostolic palace, the Sistine Chapel and the new St. Peter s Basilica were established within the city limits. The Vatican City was established in this current form as a sovereign nation with the Lateran Pacts of 1929 signed. The St. Peter Basilica Palace has been home to 55 different Popes. The Culture in this very small area is very spiritual. The City is a little more than two square miles inside the city of Rome. There are approximately 850 Italian and Swiss permanent residents, along with lay workers from Catholic communities around the world. The Vatican perimeter is surrounded by Medieval and Renaissance

In their missions, mariners play a crucial non combat role that forces them into enemy fire. For instance during World War II, Merchant Mariners maintained the supply lines [to Europe and the Pacific] that provided... everything that the Allied armies needed in order to survive. The New York Times pointed out that the invasion of Normandy would not have been possible without the Merchant Marine. The problem is that our individual actions, each perfectly consistent with our individual preferences, can and often do combine to produce collective outcomes that none of us would have chosen (Bickers, 11). And thus lead to the need for protection against those outcomes, administered through a democratic government. There are several authors that are noted for their dynamic research on the communitarian movement. The spokesperson for the contemporary communitarian movement is Amitai Etzioni. He explains that communitarians believe that the fundamental and central political problem is finding the right amount of togetherness and common concern. He continues, if people are to individualistic, they fail to support each other s efforts and to respect each other s needs. If people are too unified, they become authoritarian and attempt to use the state to impose a common set of beliefs and practices. Like ancient philosophers, communitarians find the lack of unified purpose and direction in society to be a crucial problem. Those who speak of the joys of not associating with others, but of being left alone by them, are most closely associated with individualism. And their noteworthy spokesperson is author and abolitionist Henry David Thoreau. This early author, observing the pressures, expectations, and demands made upon us by the societies in which we live, concluded that the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation (Scott, 51). The

The way strung amino acids are put together is very important. The individual 3D and sequence must be correct, or else you will have a completely different protein. There are two different types of RNAwhich are involved in the entire process. They are transfer RNA (tRNA) and messenger RNA(mRNA). The mRNA, in the process of making new proteins, makes a copy of a genewhich exits the nucleus. It sends the information which is needed to make new polypeptides. You might think that it goes straight to connecting to the ribosome, but it does not. First the copy of the gene goes to the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER).

However, the people involved in the formation of the TRC believed that the amnesty provision was the key negotiating factor and without it a peaceful settlement would not have been possible. In addition, the TRC asked for anyone involved in gross human rightsviolations which included the killing, abduction, torture or severe ill treatment of any person, to step forward and confess. Through the process of truth finding the true nature of South Africa s apartheid system became a national memory. As a result, it was no longer possible for anyone in South Africa to pretend that the abuses perpetrated under apartheid did not happen. In almost all of the studies on truth commissions, the importance of hearing the truth is described as critical to the country s ability to move forward. It is noted that reconciliation is impossible if a society wants to remain ignorant about its past. According to Hamber, when countries are attempting to overcome a violent past, it is better to deal with the past through investigations, truth recovery, justice, and support for victims and survivors of violence than to ignore it. Furthermore, all the literature on reconciliation says that if the truth is ignored it can breed resentment and create violence. In addition, the power of telling the truth allows victims to gain back the psychological control the perpetrators held over them. As Hamber notes,

Cole V South Tweed Heads Rugby League Football Club The High court reached the correct decision in Cole V South Tweed Heads Rugby League Football Club Limited [2004] HCA ( The club ) on a number of grounds. The New South Wales Court of Appeal Wales held that the club owed Ms Cole only the general duty of care owed by the occupier of premises to a lawful entrant. This duty did not extend to protecting patrons from harm of the kind suffered by Ms Cole caused by intoxication. Ms Cole appealed to the High Court. The High Court, by a 4 2 majority, dismissed the appeal. It held that an adult in Ms Cole s position knew the effects and risks of excessive drinking and that the club had done all that could be expected of it to ensure her safety. The decision reached by the High Court is in line with the current legislation and common law dictates, concerning the legal position of an intoxicated plaintiff and the duty of care in relation to an intoxicated plaintiff. The judgement in Cole provides confirmation of the direction of the Court s jurisprudence in terms of a contraction in the law of negligence, as the last outpost of the welfare state . In addition, Cole also suggests that we might as a community want to pause to reconsider the balance struck between the privacy of individual consumers of alcohol and broader community safety concerns. I. LEGAL POSITION OF AN INTOXICATED PLAINTIFF The decision of the High Court in regards to the intoxication of the plaintiff and resulting level of liability is echoed in sections 49 and 50

A.Pollution does not only affect us humans but it also affects the lives of the bees. Pollination has increased throughout the years and it will continue to increase but as a result bees have been confusing fossil fuel odors with other scents from the air preventing them to recognize the smells of the pollen. Meaning since most of these bees rely on scents to land on flowers to get their pollen in order to keep producing, it will become hard for them to do so because they will not know where to

The Role Of Moses In Machiavelli The Bible portrays Moses as an indignant vigilante faced by the oppression of his confrГЁres, as the instigator of the revolt of the enslaved Israelites, as the leader of a newly constituted people, as a legislator, and as a political founder. Of course, the Bible explicitly says that Moses is the servant of God who acts only under the orders of a supreme and divine ruler. Yet Moses seems to be the human leader of God s chosen people and plays an undeniably political role. To read the biblepolitically is a question of determining how to interpret Moses and the exit from Egypt. From the outset, it is important to note that Moses does not appear as the representative of a certain form of politics whose mottoes and convictions he would manifest. On the contrary, Moses plays the role of an emblematic political figure in political theories. Moses approaches to political thought are varied and contradictory. Machiavelli proposes a realistic view of Moses, he is interested in the biblical character and emphasizes the anthropological realism that Moses demonstrated, but he is also interested in portraying Moses in the image of his own political narrative. Machiavelli demonstrates that he is convinced that the Bible offers a realistic and even disenchanted view of men who oppose any form of political idealism. According to Machiavelli, the Bible shows men as determined by their passions that forbid them, most of the time, from virtuous behavior. Upon greater scrutiny, the Bible

After many years being around toxic materials, hat shapers in Danbury, Connecticut, started to have epileptic seizures, diarrhea, nervous system damage and more. • 38. Analysis Of Her Kind By Anne Sexton Every author, poet, playwright has a subtle message that they would like present to their audience. It may be a lifelong struggle that they have put into words, or a multiple page book that took a lifetime to write. A poet by the name of Anne Sexton sought out to challenge society s views of women by writing Her Kind . A poet, a playwright, and an author of children s books, Anne Sexton writes about the conflicts of a social outcast living in modern times. She voices the hardships she faces through three different speakers in her poem. At the end of the poem, the woman is not ashamed nor afraid of whom she is and is ready to die in peace. In Anne Sexton s poem Her Kind , the main idea the speaker is depicting is the multiple stereotypes placed on a woman, by society. Sexton s vivid use of imagery paints a picture of the witch, house wife, and mother clichГ©, while also implying the poem is autobiographical as Sexton went through her own personal struggles during her life. To begin her dissection of society s almost degrading clichГ© s of how a woman should act, Sexton begins Her Kind by writing about the witch stereotype, by using two voices, the speaker s voice and Sexton s. Sexton begins the first stanza, by writing about a witch who only comes out at night. She writes, Haunting the black air, braver the night; dreaming evil, I have done my hitch. (445: Line 2 3). The being that Sexton is depicting is of the supernatural form as she only comes out at night because she feels that she can best express herself at night. Sexton also writes, Lonely thing, twelve fingered, out of mind (445: Line 5). A witch that has twelve fingers is bound to be cast out, by society because of her abnormality. The dark and gothic tone the speaker uses in this stanza such as: possessed, haunting, black, evil, lonely, twelve fingered, out of mind, creates an escape for the speaker who is obviously different from the rest of the world. She feels safe from the judgmental eyes of suburbia, she feels safer to express herself at night. Society s voice in this stanza suggests that witches like the speaker are evil and have no place in their idyllic world. The speaker mocks society s opinion of her, by agreeing with it in
  • 39. Persuasive Essay On Animal Dissection Most people have dissected an animal at some point in their education, be it a frog, pig, cat, or another animal. Every year in the United States, roughly ten million animals are killed and used for dissection in schools ( Animals Used in Education 1).The surplus of students dissecting animals in class has led to this substantial number. Dissectionis said to increase student understanding of biology and an interest in careers in science (Edulab 1), which is why countless schools have their students dissect animals. However, others advocate for methods that don t involve cruelty to animals. Why use a learning technique if other methods are less expensive, and some tactics equally or more effective regarding student learning? Essentially, an abundance of schools incorporate animal dissection as an educational tool, but they seldom think of how negatively the lives of countless animals are impacted. People don t fathom the cruelty that happens to animals before they land on the dissection table, and that is something that needs to be changed. The dissection of animals for educationhas been a traditionally used teaching tactic for decades, and it is cruel and should no longer be used. To start, the suppliers of the animals to be dissected have been caught mistreating their animals. PETA s investigations into biological supply companies, which sell animal bodies and parts, have uncovered acts of cruelty to animals, including the drowning of rabbits and the embalming of cats

  • 41. The Zoot Riots Of WWII WWII was by far the biggest devastation involving deaths due to war. With 60 to 80 million deaths, WWII was one of the worst chapters in American history. At first the United States thought that Europe s conflict could be obtained and kept within the country. So the US did not react as quickly as we now know they should have. Japan was a country that went on a short power trip which later would cause the United Statesto get involved with WWII. Japan wanted regional domination, and in completing this mission they took it a step too far. Japan wanted to take over Dutch East Indies and British Malaya for their oil rich resource. The US wouldn t go down without a fight. Knowing this, Japan decided to try to have the upper and by plotting to attack Pearl Harbor. On December 8, 1941, Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese. The morning after the Pearl Harbor attack the United States officially declared war on Japan. Entry 2 What were the Zoot Suit Riots of 1943? First of all, zoot suits were a jazz inspired outfit that consisted of high waisted wool trousers with loose long tailed suit coats worn by mostly the Hispanic race. This attire gave people who wore them a bad reputation as someone who commits crimes. These riots occurred during WWII between Mexican American youth gangs and sailors and policeman that were stationed near the city. June of 1943 is when the Zoot Suit Riots started taking place. After many street fights between the zoot suits and white soldiers, there
  • 42. Where To Invade Next Michael Moore Analysis In Where to Invade Next a satirical documentary, Michael Moore compares U.S. public policies to european countries like Italy and France. In this documentary Moore uses what seems to be strong logos until you realize that he is card stacking. He also uses quite a bit of pathos as he talks about things in other countries that we would love to have in the U.S. like 8 weeks paid vacation or free college tuition. Michael Mooreis trying to persuade the U.S. to be more like it was supposed to be when it was created. Like how you should with any argument he starts off by building up his ethos. In the movie Moore states that all of America s generals came to him for help saying that they Had not won a war since WWII. Moore told them to take a break and send everyone on a vacation while he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First he shows us a working class Italian couple and how they go on multiple vacations a year because everyone in Italy gets 8 weeks paid vacation. He then talks to the Italian couple about their daily life and how they get paid for 13 months of work in a 12 month year, and how women get paid maternity leave. Even with all of these vacations and time off Italy is only ranked slightly below the U.S. in productivity, that s because when you are well rested and relaxed you produce much higher quality stuff and get more done then if you where tired and overworked. This looks amazing! Like there could be no downside to this argument, we should just pick it up immediately and bring this to America. But what Moore fails to do it tell what this has done to the Italian economy. Italy is currently undergoing huge economic reform because of the amount of money it takes to fund their vacations. Italy currently has one of the worst GNPs in the world with an annual growth rate of 1.9%. They also have an unimportant rate of 12%. If we adopted this in the U.S. It would have even worse effects because of our increased
