2. Louisiana s Cajun Dialect
Louisiana s Cajun Dialect
Linguist and Cajun Megan E. Melancon calls the Cajun dialect a gumbo . There are
many languages that make up this gumbo. The various languages include Spanish,
French, German, and English. The Cajun language is mainly spoken in Southern
Louisiana, but can reach into parts of Southern Texas and Southern Mississippi due
to emigration (Melancon).
The word Cajun comes from the word Acadien. Acadia was a French colony in 1604
located in the areas now known as New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Canada. In the
middle of the eighteenth century approximately four thousand Acadians moved into
South Louisiana, into the region around Lafayette and the Lafourche Bayou country.
This group of people brought with them the French language. Over the years the
Cajun dialect emerged. Many say Cajun is not just a dialect but an entire language of
its own.
The Cajun dialect differs throughout the state of ... Show more content on

Cajun English is a combination of English and French, borrowing words and
phrases from the French language and is greatly influenced by Cajun French. How
to Speak Cajun English (or at least understand it) gives some great examples of the
way some Cajuns pronounce words and names. This site also explains various
idioms used by Cajuns. Syntax, the arrangement of words in a sentence, is also
explained. The example given for Syntax is, I didn t do that, No! instead of No, I
didn t do that! A lot of Cajuns will drop the final letter(s) of some words. An
example of this would be dropping the t from what. Another common practice is to
change the th sound to t or d . Some examples of this are, thing=ting, that=dat,
this=dat, and bath=bat. One example of a sentence, Wha dat ting ya got? An English
speaking person would normally say, What s that thing you have? Some examples of
the pronunciation of names included Matthew/ Mat chew, Raphael/ Ray feel, Richard

3. In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding by
David...
In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding by David Hume, the idea of
miracles is introduced. Hume s argument is that there is no rational reason for
human beings to believe in miracles, and that it is wrong to have miracles as the
building blocks for religion. It is because the general notion of miracles come from
the statement of others who claim to have seen them, Hume believes that there is no
way to prove that those accounts are accurate, because they were not experienced
first hand. In order to believe a miracle, the evidence should be concrete, and
something irrefutable. When there is any sort of doubt to a miracle, Hume says that
any evidence that can be contrary to the proof of a miracle is merely evidence that
the miracle did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In essence, any miracle that a Christian believes as fact, is something that a Muslim
person would consider hearsay, and vice versa. There is a constant battle between
religions to disprove the other s miracles, and Hume believes that none of these
miracles occurred.
To Hume, it is never rational to believe in a miracle, as it is a violation of the laws
of nature. For a miracle to be believable, it must be based on testimony, and have a
focus on something that can be proven. This testimony must have evidence to
justify that the miracle is in fact based on a law of nature. For Hume, if a miracle
is to be rationally accepted, the evidence to support it must be balanced for the
evidence in the natural world. Even if there is a conflicting piece of evidence for
the miracle, the conclusion must indicate that said miracle is a probable
occurrence. With that probable evidence must come absolute proof that the person
who experienced the miracle was in his or her right state of mind, was never
diagnosed with a mental illness, and is a person who can be trusted to give factual
suggestions. Essentially, a miracle is possible because it is conceivable, but in
reality, there is no evidence to prove it. To properly establish his position on miracles,
Hume writes:
no testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony be of such a
kind, that its falsehood would be more miraculous, than the fact, which it endeavours
to establish

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Issues dealt with by the policy
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a program developed
and administered by the United States Department Agriculture; to support families
and individuals with low income by providing nutrition assistance in coordination
with State agencies and other organizations such as State agencies, faith based
organizations and educators. In addition, SNAP provides a variety of parallel
benefits to society regarding its economy. The goal of SNAP is to reduce hunger of
families and individuals who qualify by facilitating their food purchases (United
States Department of Agriculture, 2014) .
The program works by providing to low income families electronic coupons through a
system called Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT). Benefactors receive a card and use
it instead of a paper coupon (Food Research and Action Center, 2010).
Historical Background; political and economic context of the development of the
policy
According to the website SNAP to Health (2015), SNAP program started in 1933
as a part of the Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) and as a relief of hunger during
the Great Depression. In order to make official the repartition of food from
government, on 1939 the food stamps plan was created and implemented by
Roosevelt s administration. Low income families would buy food stamps to buy food

6. Lady Macbeth s Behavior
The Analysis of Lady Macbeth How does the mastermind and accomplice of a
murder cope with the crime they helped commit? What happens if their partner in
crime goes rogue? In Shakespeare s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is introduced as a
power obsessed individual who bullies her husband into killing their king and exits
as a woman whose guilt has consumed her to the point where she cannot continue.
The source of her cruelty can be attributed to the demons she invited to rid her of
feminine qualities in preparation for the murder. The behavior of this woman can be
compared to the actions of another famous queen: Queen Elizabeth I. In a play
centered on a man whose morality is deteriorating, the sanity and will to live of a
woman diminishes. The transformation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Portillo states that Queen Elizabeth knew how to command, and understood
instinctively how to make use of the symbols of authority (9). Obtaining authority
through the manipulation of Macbeth would be an example of Lady Macbeth s
behavior that is similar to Queen Elizabeth s behavior. Another example of how
Lady Macbeth and Queen Elizabeth are similar is their usage of the concept of
power replacing children. It can be assumed that Lady Macbeth had lost a child
because of the lines previously mentioned and the lack of a Baby Macbeth in the
play. Queen Elizabeth had forgone the joys of...childbearing in order...to be
mother of all English people (Portillo 9). The final similarity between the two is
their replacement by a new power. Lady Macbeth s husband was replaced by
Malcolm who planned to reinvent Scotland, as evidenced by the following lines,
What s more to do, / Which would be planted newly with the time ... So thanks to
all at once and to each one, / Whom we invite to see us crowned at Scone (Macbeth
5.8.65 76). The reign of Elizabeth I can be described as a wonderful awakening in
its intellectual, military, and artistic life (Portillo 10), however, the reign of her
relative, James I, was significantly different. The relation of Lady Macbeth and
Queen Elizabeth I through their actions and behavior, lack of children, and
significance of death as the end of an era may have been the whole reason the play
Macbeth was
7. How Do You Respond To His Mother By Langston Hughes
The author, Langston Hughes, is speaking to himself through his Mother s voice.
His point of view was limited since his observation was speaking of one person and
not using I . The tone in the poem is the attitude that children should listen and
learn from their parents for him, it was his Mother. His second line compared life
to a crystal stair. From the surface, you would think what a metaphor what does life
and a crystal stair have any kind of relation to each other? From the Oxford
dictionary, the definition of crystal is a piece of a homogeneous solid substance
having a natural geometrically regular form with symmetrically arranged plane faces.
The key words here are regular , homogeneous , geometrically and symmetrically .

concussion symptoms generally include somatic symptoms, sleep disturbance, and
emotional and cognitive symptoms. Since somatic symptoms such as headache,
nausea, and dizziness may not be ready to be measured in animal models, the changes
of motor function, cognitive function, and emotional behavior are used as criteria for
rationally evaluating animal models of concussion. In a previous reported study, this
rCHI mouse model induces spatial learning and memoryimpairments as well as
anxiety like behavior, which resemble those observed in human mTBI patients [8].

velocity, dwell time and deformation depth. However, due to the closed head injury
without craniotomy, precisely positioning according to mouse brain stereotaxic
coordinates is impossible. Also the impact/probe tips switching may result in an
impact site shift. This is the major cause of inconsistent injuries. Considering the
diffuse injury¬, this model remains precise and easy to
9. Theme Of Phony In Catcher In The Rye
In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger shows through Holden Caulfield
how people cannot help being phony and fake, no matter how diligently they try.
Phoniness cannot be overcome by any man, including Holden, even though he
loathes people who are phony and do not speak their true mind. In search for a
solution, Holden hid from the real world and felt extreme loneliness, and he broke
down because he wanted the impossible. J.D. Salinger shows the lack of
connection between people, especially during times of trauma and depression
through Holden s obsession with the phoniness of the world, which leads Holden
down a dark path because there is no way to keep the world or people in general in
a state of innocence. In the novel, phoniness is recounted as when things are fake
and unrealistic and when people do not speak their true mind. Holden believes that
everyone and most things, but himself, are phony. Holden thought that at his old
school, Elkton Hills, he was, Surrounded by phonies, (pg 17). He remembered Mr.
Haas, a man who worked at Elkton Hills, as, The phoniest bastard [he] ever met in
[his] life, (pg 17) because he, Went around shaking hands with everybody s parents

11. Male Toucan Vs Northern Harriers
There are two different types of survival needs in organisms for example, why can

often found in a place where temperature is moving from hot to cold, and variety of
food sources are available for organisms living there. Animals found in these place
are called broad niches, which are able to adapt to almost any environment. Opposite
of generalist would be specialist, which means temperature stays the same and same
kind of food sources available, this kind of environment are more suitable for narrow
niches.
For instance Toucans are considered as specialists, their surrounding habitat is made

Male toucan will stay away from the nest and makes sure no predators come near
the nest, if nest is being threatened there is going to be violence between two birds.
However Northern harriers can relate to male Toucan after their mating period as
well, Northern harriers must bring food for the family and need to be prepared to
take in extra effort for the family. Both birds don t let the newborns isolate from the
parent and be very careful around them, they have to be aware of their life as a
parents. Since newborn had come to life, there is no way that the offspring can
adapt to different niche which parents are unable to. Both birds sexual reproduces,
sexual reproduction requires both parent and combine two different genes to create
a offspring. If both parent are specialists there is no chances that the offspring can
be generalist. The females birds deliver about 3 5 eggs each year after mating with
the male bird. There is least difference in food of these two examples, both of them
eats almost same thing such as small mammals and lizards except for fruits. Northern
harriers are not able to locate fruits in grassland
In summary Northern harrier versus the Toucans are not a huge difference because
they are both the birds but they are different kinds, the only one difference that
matter between these two common birds are generalist versus and other are
specialist. However they both can relate by same reproductive system and same
responsibilities of male s concerns about the family. Toucans are specialist while
Northern harriers are generalist, each of these birds have somehow difference in diet
and mainly different habitats,
12. Brutus s Hamartia
What was Brutus s Hamartia?
In many of William Shakespeare s plays, there is an identified tragic hero. A tragic
hero, according to Aristotle, is a man whose adversity comes to him, not through
vice or depravity but by some error of judgement. The tragic hero s story should
arouse pity and fear to the audience. Most tragic heroes appear in Greek literature
like in Julius Caesar. A well known tragic herois Brutus, who was manipulated into
going against the great ruler Caesar. If this is what a tragic hero is, is Brutus an
example of a tragic hero?
According to Aristotle a tragic hero should have certain characterics. One of them is
that a hero must be noble but still have a tragic flaw. Brutus was in the senatorial
class and his father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He easily was manipulated by Cassius and Marc Antony into his plans into killing
Caesar and never suspects both will go against him. In Act 2, Scene 1, the fake
letters sent to him are from the conspirators. He believes the people of Rome want
him to be king. In Act 3, Scene 2, Brutus allows Marc Antony to speak at Caesar s
funeral. Marc Antony convinces the crowd that the conspirators are evil and should
go against them. All these characteristics represent Brutus being a tragic hero.
Tragic heroes often make an error in their judgement. Brutus s error was trusting
Cassius and Marc Antony believing they would not be opposed to him. However,
Cassius manipulates Brutus into trusting him and then turns against Brutus after
killing Caesar. Marc Antony goes behind his back speaking negatively of Brutus at
Caesar s funeral. By accomplishing this mistake, it leads to a series of calamity
leading to his death.
Another example of being a tragic hero is having an epiphany about their flaw.
This example represents Brutus as well. Brutus and Cassius have a fight and
Brutus realizes he can t trust Cassius anymore. He has an another epiphany of how
killing Caesar was wrong. He recognized that killing Caesar didn t help Rome s
Republic and how he was double crossed by the other conspirators. This information
leads to his downfall and
13. The Haunting Of Hill House Essay
The Necessity of a Gothic setting
In a gothic novel or story, the setting is exclusive to the plot. If a gothic story doesn
t have a perfect setting, the plot will not be as exciting to the reader. The setting
needs to have dark elements, horrifying twists, and turns to drive the story. In The
Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, Jackson exemplifies how a setting should
be in a gothic novel. She uses modern psychology and old ghost stories. These
elements entice the reader to ponder what is real and what is not.
When you combine the nature of the characters in Hill House and then compare them
to the events taking place in the house (blood on the clothes, blood on/in the walls,

The reader experiences this emotion while reading. Hill House gives off these
feelings because of all the deaths that have happened there. Many young people
died in Hill House. The tomb in Hill House has a cold spot. If you put your hand
there for a second it will become numb. This was shown in the story when Luke
tested the cold spot with his hand, Luke, inside the nursery doorway, could hold one
end of the tape until his hand came into the cold spot, and then his fingers lost
strength and relaxed helplessly. Another part that adds to the uneasiness of the house
is Hugh Crain. No one knows what happened to him. The book says he turns into a
recluse. Reading into this detail, does that mean he turns into the house and becomes
a part of the house? Jackson doesn t tell the reader that. Hugh Crain s tragedy
definitely adds to the emptiness and sadness of the house. The same can be said
when Eleanor meets her end. As a character of the story her life was empty and
meaningless. She was always told what to do and what not to do. Eleanor was an
innocent. So naturally when she died it was tragic and sad. She also seemed to
become a part of Hill
14. White Males And The American Writers
In this nature writing course and in all my literature courses there haven t been many
African American writers represented. This isn t because they don t exist, but
because the more commonly known writers have the attributes of being more
respected, and are widely accepted writers in American literature, who majority of
the time are white males like Thoreau and Leopold. These are just examples, and
they are good writers but there are also good African Americanwriters that deserve
just as much representation when teaching college courses. There s a greater choice
of writers besides having the same works of authors we ve already read throughout
our experience in studying literature. There needs to be a better variety of cultures
represented in literature, white males shouldn t always be the most read and studied
authors in public institutions. Minorities should be represented too, especially
African American writers since they played such a great role in the American history,
and endured so much oppression from the society they ve lived in. In this course,
Nature Writing at metropolitan University, we had a variety of different races, but
the Black racedidn t get the representation they deserved. There was a writing titled,
from a black boy by Wright, and it wasn t a good representation of Black writers in
America. I remember reading it and questioning what I just read; because it didn t
have any emotion or deeper meaning like most the other readings we studied. In

I resented my Mom for grounding me the first month of senior year. This was the
year everyone loves everyone, the year everyone comes together, the fun year. Senior
year is the year of letting bygones be bygones, the year you forgive your peers for all
the wrongdoings they have done. Or in my case the year to apologize and mend the
bridges I set ablaze in my past three years.
I was what you would classify as a social climber throughout high school. I worked
my way up the social hierarchy stepping on other people s backs, hurting people s
feelings, and crossing boundaries that were firmly established. I spent three years
getting my name out there. In the process I acquired tunnel vision forgetting that it
wasn t about how many people knew your name, but rather when your name was
said what came to everyone s mind. I scorned my soccer friends, my nerdy friends,
and my church friends all to become popular. I left these people in the dust, when
they cared the most about me. I became everything I once scoffed at: reckless, self
centered, and most of all a social chameleon. I took a match to the past Sydney and
the path she had forged until it became nothing but dust for the ability to recreate.

18. The Long Term Effectiveness Of Prolonged Exposure
Therapy
Literature Review
Existing controlled examinations of intervention efficacy specific to only sexual
assault and rape are presently minimal in comparison to intervention examinations of
combination or other types of trauma (Regehr, Alaggia, Dennis, Pitts, Saini, 2013).
Psychotherapeutic interventions that fail to differentiate sexual assault and rape
victims from other types of trauma victims may decrease the treatment effectiveness
or inadvertently harm participants in this subgroup. Trauma associated from rape or
sexual assault differs from other forms of trauma and treatment efficacy should be
examined in this manner. Trauma from rape or sexual assault entail symptoms of
PTSD, depression, suicidal ideations and sexual dysfunction. Individuals may also
indicate feelings of vulnerability, loss of control, fear, shame, self blame, societal
blame and stigma (Russell Davis, 2007; Regehr et al., 2013; Ullman Peter Hagene,
2014). This research proposal intends to explore the long term effectiveness of
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) at reducing distress and trauma explicitly for adult
victims of sexual assault and rape.
Prolonged exposure (PE) is a specific exposure therapy program that derives from
Emotional Processing Theory (EPT). The idea of emotional processing is to interpret
realistic information and accommodate that information into a fear structure which in
turn diminishes the fear (Foa, 2011). Foa (2011) acknowledges that the idea of
failing to process trauma is

The Round House and A Prayer for Owen Meany both tell the story of traumatizing
events that shape the lives of their narrators. Through these events, Joe and John,
the main characters, begin to discover how fate and self enacted justice play
important roles in their lives. While the struggle of identifying these two aspects is
prevalent in the childhoods of both characters, only through the retelling of their
experiences do the narrators come to understand the balance between inevitability
and sought out justice. In The Round House, Joe s childhood becomes focused on
finding a just conclusion to the trauma he has faced. Not being accustomed to such
suffering, Joe has this want to return back to his normal summer break life and to
end the evil that has plagued his family. In response to his need for vengeance, Joe
takes the matter into his own hands and kills Linden Lark. His act is prompted from

20. Historical And Constituent Emotional State Of A Social
System
Throughout history, subjective laws have contended how individuals relate to each
other through the concept of race. Similarly, ever since its emergence in the early
twentieth century, television has also been used to manifest such cultural and societal
values. In return, Hollywood s dependence on whitewashing roles as a cross racial
/ethnic representation withholds the power to extraordinarily change viewer s
depiction of minority groups. Consequently, what follows is the important and
constituent emotional state of individuals when facing questions of white privilege,
power, and diversity in the media.
The universal notion that outward appearance is a vital quality when defining both
our own and other s ethnicity is what greatly shapes the categories in which people
are placed in. In this way, the silences and denials that surround white privilege is
key in the maintenance of a social system that is embedded with layers of vast and
unseen dimensions. The establishment of race is fixed upon individuals predominantly
through the color of one s skin as a means of distinguishing groups within a society
that finds comfort in labels. In return, placing such limiting margins on individuals
strip colored people of any chance to designate for oneself which ethnicity one would
choose to identify with. Yet, what does it mean to talk about ethnicity as an option for
individuals? (Waters, Optional Ethnicities: For Whites Only?). Majorly, it is only
times when whites take on

and talking about themselves. Chaucer uses the pilgrims to express his beliefs,
about religion, marriage, social class, and many other topics. One of the pilgrims is

discretion of speech. The moralitee of The Manciple s Taleis that it is unwise to
speak too much...the fact that he uses so many words to tell his audience not to talk
overmuch creates an ironic contrast between the form of his language and its
meaning (Rossignol). Phoebus s wife and pet crow are just mere characters that help
to convey the message against acting rash and speaking too much. The weaknesses
in the story are most likely there because the The Manciple s Tale was composed
near the end of the period during which The Canterbury Taleswere written and that
Chaucer died before he was able to make final revisions (Rossignol).
Some critics believe The Manciple s Tale is weak in structure, with poor

Bainbridge stood for what he believe in and follow his own principles. I can relate
to the Bainbridge because, there was a time I was treated different because I had

was bad and people started to hate that I could keep my mouth shut about thing and
lesser people started to hang around me. Bainbridge was influenced by the author
Rodney Stark. Stark worked with Bainbridge on the Stark Bainbridge theory of

Imagine a world where you are being watched by the government all the time. This
sounds similar to the classical dystopian novel 1984, where Big Brother invades the
private lives of its citizens including, the protagonist, Winston. Even though our
society is not as invasive we have our own big brother, the NSA. Although it protects
U.S. national security, the government should discontinue the surveillance done by
the NSA because it is detrimental the U.S. economy the Constitution and the citizens

The National Security Agency, NSA, is an intelligence organization of the United
States government, responsible for global monitoring, collection and processing of
information and data for foreign intelligence and counterintelligence. In 2013,
whistleblower Edward Snowden leaked documents revealing the lengths of the
National Security Agency s surveillance on the United States citizens. This caused
mass debate of privacy vs. security over the agency s surveillance. Some major
arguments for and against the NSA surveillance have involved the sections of the
Constitution. These include : The Fourth Amendment which states The right of the
people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against
unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall

New York Times reporter David Barstow uncovered a shocking story against retail

bribes to accelerate growth in their Mexican zoning areas. These allegations
surfaced when a Hispanic lawyer contacted Wal Mart headquarters in Bentonville

represented them in their acts. He was used as a middle man for Wal Mart s payoffs

Wal Mart pays $341,000 to officials in Mexico City to build a Sam s club. The
building was put in a densely populated area, and was done without a construction
license, or an environmental permit or and urban impact assessment, or a traffic
permit. * Wal Mart bribes officials to build a vast refrigerated distribution center in
an environmentally fragile flood basin north of Mexico City in an area where
electricity is so scarce that many smaller developers turned away. The bribe for
this case was $765,000. * A zoning situation in Teotihuacan caused Wal Mart to
make a payment of $52,000 to enable them to build a store near a famous pyramid
site. The citizens were enraged by the location of the store but the protests were
ignored and the Wal Mart was built. The mayor of Teotihuacan spent $77,000 buying

Abstract:
With the advent of e systems; business and consumers have access to a plethora of
information which makes the decision making process more complex. The
overwhelming information flow makes it extremely difficult for decision makers to
analyze the available data and make precise decisions. Under such an information
intensive online environment, businesses need to make real time intelligent decisions
in order to stay economically and commercially viable. Multi agent systems have the
inherent ability to facilitate provision of an adequate decision support mechanism in
an e business setting. These multi agent decision support systems are of particular

Computer systems that have the inherent capacity to take decisions when required
are referred to as agents. These systems are designed to make intelligent choices
according to the situation. These agents when operate in a rapidly changing
environment where real time decision making is required are known as intelligent
agents. Typical examples of a multi agent systeminclude a computer program that
would perform an internet search for a typical query. The agent would synthesize the
relevant information from various web sources and return a document that would
carry relevant information based on our query (Weiss, 1999). Based on the prelude,
we may define an agent as An autonomous, reactive, pro active computer system,
typically with a central locus of control that is at least able to communicate with other
agents via some kind of communication language (Weiss, 1999)

27. Involuntary Unemployment And Its Effects On The
Economy
Contrary to what some economists believe, involuntary unemployment is a very real
and continuous presence in the economy, both past and present. In the United States,
the unemployment rate measures the number of people actively looking for a job as
a percentage of the labour force. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS),
the current unemployment rate is at 5.4 percent, down from the high unemployment
levels of a lingering 10 percent during the most recent recession less than six years
ago. This rate fails to include other failures in reaching full employment, such as the
number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to
as involuntary part time workers) ... These individuals, who would have preferred full
time employment, were working part time because their hours had been cut back or
because they were unable to find a full time job (Taborda, BLS). Involuntary
unemployment is a common occurrence in capitalismthat happens when, rather than
simply not choosing to work at the set wage, a person is willing to work at the
prevailing wage and yet remains unemployed. What many economists have sought
and continue to seek to find out is the cause of high unemployment levels, whether
that be what motivates humans to act in the economy or the nature of the system of
capitalism.
Some modern economists praise our current economic system of capitalism and
suggest that it is not the cause of prolonged recessions while others condemn its

29. The Interpretive Approach For Communication
The Interpretive Approach to Communication In communication, there are three
different approaches: social science, interpretive, and critical. All three approaches
differ greatly in their paradigms, or belief systems, on how the study of
communication should be approached. Of the three approaches, the Interpretive
Approach is the one that suits me the best. Why you might ask? Simply put, it just
makes sense. The interpretive Approach, also referred to as the Humanistic
Approach, is looking at communication through a system of thoughts that celebrate
human nature and it s potential. Simply put, this approach looks specifically at
human nature as it pertains to a specific person, or specific group, as a whole rather
than the general consensus. As with the other methods, the Interpretive Approach has
it s own assumptions, theories and methods, ethical issues, and strengths and
limitations. When studying communication, there are certain assumptions to be
made. These assumptions vary depending on the paradigm that the researcher is
following. In the Interpretive Approach, the major assumption is that humans
construct their own reality, and researchers must tap into and understand that reality.
This could not be truer, as everyone has their own perception of the world around
them and reality in general. It is also assumed that the focus will be on the
communicator. The Interpretive Approach draws focus on the creativity of humans
rather than our predictability. Following the

how to live your life the right way.
The Inspector is also a strong individual character by how he can quite easily make

Mrs. Birling is also shown as a strong individual character as she is one of the main
characters that don t give into the Inspectors questions. She doesn t take any
rudeness from him and she makes it clear that she is no pushover. When the
Inspector continually asked her questions Mrs Birling said, If you think you can

Jesus Christ is one of the most recognizable figures in the modern world. And the
legacies of few people have sparked as many wars, built as many nations, and
changed as many individual s lives, as Jesus of Nazareth. Understandably, scholars
and spiritualists alike have striven to answer one central question, who was this Jesus
? To some, He is known as the Son of God, who overcame death and sin, offering
salvation through His resurrection for all who place their faith in him. To others, He
was merely a carpenter from the small town of Nazareth, living in the early years of
the Common Era. And trying to figure out much else about Jesus is one of the most ...

In antiquity, historical thought was not what we would recognize as history today.
Those who lived alongside Jesus, or wrote about Him in contemporary times were
not concerned so much with what was but with what ought to have been. They wrote
biographies with some sort of pre conceived posture of who Jesus was, and molded
the story to present that character. This was not seen as dishonest in ancient times; in
fact, it was considered the truest of histories.
But in the age of the Enlightenment, scholars began concerning themselves with the
historical validity of the subjects they studied. This began the first wave of historical
Jesus scholarship. At this time, various scholars became intent on discovering the
historical Jesus, and began writing various works, presented as the life of Jesus. But
these writings suffered from an integral flaw, which has infected historical Jesus
scholarship until today. Rather than being works of discovery, they were truly
projects. Powell argues well, in his first chapter on the history of the historical Jesus
movement, that a life of Jesus would typically impose some grand scheme or
hypothesis upon the material that allowed everything to be interpreted in accord with
a consistent paradigm... [and] exclude material in the Gospels that did not fit with
this paradigm... (Powell, 12) Powell takes a

Question 1: What factors would determine whether the principal may be liable

In order to prove Thomas liable in this situation, there would have to be evidence of
proximate cause (Essex, 2016). The student, or student s family, would need to be
able to prove that there is a relationship between the principal s breach of duty, and
the injury the student suffered (Essex, 2016). I have dedicated the remainder of this

ACF/Trend/Seasonality To determine which forecast model would best fit the
NHS data, we must examine several items: correlation of the data, existence or
absence of trend and/or seasonality and stationarity of data. Autocorrelation is the
examination of the correlation of data between successive observations over time
(Wilson, Keating, John Galt Solutions, 2009, p. 84). Figure 2 shows the
autocorrelation factor (ACF) for the NHS data set. Because all the data is above
the upper limit line, there appears to be a positive trend present for the 12 month
forecast. Upon further examination, the ACF does not quickly fall to zero
confirming a significant presence of trend. Seasonality can be assumed by looking at
the sharp up and down movement of the data in figure 1. The data is considered
stationary if the ACF is mainly contained within the upper and lower bounds as

one to adopt and apply new information technologies can bring the biggest positive
effect to a company. Bill Gates states that, whoever is first to use digital information
to operate business, has a great chance of putting companyahead of its competitors.
It changes the methods of handling projects as well. Building specialized groups of
employees to work on specific tasks improves productivity and also the speed of
turnover. In some cases, cultural confrontations are observed, however, consumers

It sets up the first major commercial Internet site to develop online banking and

customer loyalty.
In my opinion, the decision of getting first to market comes with great risk. That is to
say, it requires a large amount of investment and time. It also affects revenue and in
most cases, it puts company s security in danger. Moreover, the idea of first movers
are the winners, is not always true. Second movers can actually benefit more than
the first movers. We can look at online bookstore giant amazon.com, as an
example. Before Amazon was launched in 1995, there was an already established
large online bookstore books.com by Book Stacks unlimited1. However, amazon
overcame the books.com and became the biggest on the market in a short period.
The reason is, the first movers have to spend more time and money on research and
development, also educate the public about the new scheme. Second movers can
learn from the mistakes of the first movers and avoid excessive cost on R D and
public education.
The next point that should be addressed is Middle man must add value . According to
Gates, Internet and technology change everything, including the role of middleman
businesses. Indeed, disintermediation is unavoidable; unless they add value to their
goods and services they transfer.
The main problem with middleman job is anybody can easily do it. It does not

40. The Laffer Curve And Its Effect On The People
Introduction
The point Arthur Laffer made when he brought up what later became the Laffer
curve was that government implementations have both short and long term impacts
on the people, and that those impacts are directly dependent on incentives: positive
or negative. In their most primal forms, positive incentives would be subsidies and
negative incentives would be taxes. The Laffer curve, although very hard to
accurately estimate, is very powerful in its shape. The understanding of its shape is
crucial for policymakers, but also a headache as its parameters are extremely difficult
to comprehend and model properly.

collected by the government. In the above quote, Dr. Arthur Lafferexplains that
increase in government revenue is not the true measure of a growing economy. A
prosperous economy is one in which people have more income, more growth and
more employment opportunities.
Dr. Arthur Laffer was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 14, 1940 to Amelia and

and this motivated him to pursue a career in it. Before going to Yale University to

41. demat and its importance
DEMAT
In India, shares and securities are held electronically in a Dematerialized (or Demat )
account, instead of the investor taking physical possession of certificates. A
Dematerialized account is opened by the investor while registering with an
investment broker (or sub broker). The Dematerialized account number is quoted for
all transactions to enable electronic settlements of trades to take place. Every
shareholder will have a Dematerialized account for the purpose of transacting shares.
Access to the Dematerialized account requires an internet password and a transaction
password. Transfers or purchases of securities can then be initiated. Purchases and
sales of securities on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every security has an ISIN (International Securities Identification Number). A
separate DRF must be filled for each ISIN.
The complete process of dematerialisation is outlined below:
The investor surrenders the certificates for dematerialisation to the DP.
DP updates the account of the investor.
Demat options
There are many hundreds of Depository Participants (DPs) offering the Demat
account facility in India as of September 2011. A comparison of the fees charged by
different DPs is detailed below.
There are a few distinct advantages of having a bank as a DP. Having a Demat
account with a bank DP, usually provides quick processing, accessibility,
convenience, and online transaction capability to the investor. Generally, banks
credit the Demat account with shares in case of purchase, or credit a savings
account with the proceeds of a sale, on the third day. Banks are also advantageous
because of the number of branches they have. Some banks give the option of
opening a demat account in any branch, while others restrict themselves to a select
set of branches. Some private banks also provide online access to the demat account.
Hence, the investors can conveniently check online details of their holdings,
transactions and status of requests through their bank s net banking facility. A broker
who acts as a DP may not be able to provide these services.
Fees involved
There are four major charges usually levied on a demat account: account opening fee,
annual maintenance
42. Compare And Contrast Corie And Bestie
The two main characters are very different people, Betsie is a very composed, and
smart while Corrie is brave and hopeful. Bestie is very strong in her faith, and I
think Corrie can learn a lot from her. Corrie tries her best to be strong like Betsie in
faith. These characters were very compassionate towards others. They liked to take
care of other people and they tried to help a lot of people. They feared some of the
guards and people, but they understood why these people were acting the way they
were. Betsie really wanted to help these people, so even though they were scared
they still wanted to help. In comparison, these characters were very different
physically. Bestie was older, and she suffers from Pernicious Anemia which means as

United...
Today we live in a world where the medical system is very advanced and it allows
doctors to treat almost any kind of cold, disease, or injury. This sounds good with the
exception that people cannot afford those treatments unless they have Health
insurance. Medical insurance is not easy to obtain, meanwhile the insurance
companies want to make as much money as possible from their clients without
spending a dime on them. There are nearly 50 million Americans without health
insurance(Sicko). It s not surprising that there are so many people without
insurance; for the reason that the insurance providers like to give coverage to
younger and healthier individuals, while the people in need of insurance are seen
as a harmful to the health provider s profits and are denied to sign up for the
insurance. Michael Moore s film Sicko and Jim Hightower s issue 14 of the
Lowdown show two major problems in our medical system about the so called
Universal Healthcare . The argument that Michael s movie makes is that the United
States medical system is not as good as the medical system in Canada, United
Kingdom, or Norway. You might wonder how the U.S medical system can be worse
than those countries when it s more advanced, well the treatment in those places is
completely free including the stay in the hospital! In the Lowdown article we can
notice another issue with our current health system such as drug companies spending
more cash each year to advertise their drugs then coming up with
44. Metro Transportation Authority ( Mta )
In April 2016, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) proudly announced
the subway ridership increased to 1.763 billion and stroked the highest figures
since 1948. As the number of ridership upsurges, the threat of blood on the tracks
has become constant (Peyser). The New York Post reported several incidents
happened in New York s subway in the past weeks: a man in wheelchair fell onto
the tracks and was struck by a train in Brooklyn (Moore), a woman was shoved
onto the tracks and killed by a train in Times Square (Furfaro), a man was pushed
onto the tracks and injured in a fight with his girlfriend (Moore), and a teenage boy
found dead on the tracks in Bronx (Prendergast). In addition, an MTA Customer
Contact with Train Incident Report statistics shown there were 1619 incidents and
522 deaths from riders come in contact with trains between 2001 and 2012. These
alarming number of incidents raised the public concern for subway safety, which
made its board member Charles Moerdler to urge MTA s implementation of installing
safety doors on platform edges (Furfaro). Every year, around 50 people lose their
lives in the New York Citysubway system (Schiavenza). As an international student
from Hong Kong, I wonder why the MTA still has yet invested in physical
safeguard protective barriers on platform edges to ensure passengers safety. In
contrast to the huge number of fatalities in New York s subway system, there were
only 27 people lost their lives in Hong Kong s
45. The Ottoman Empire Of Islam
The Ottoman Empire The Ottoman Turks who initially relocated from Central Asia,
rose to control in the late 1300s mid 1400s to pick up administration over a large
portion of the Middle East. In 1453 the armed force of Mehmed II, The Conqueror,
conveyed their massive siege cannons to the entryway of Constantinople and raged
the Christian capital. Subsequent to catching Constantinople in 1453 the Ottomans
had built up a genuine domain, contemporary with the Habsburg. The Ottoman was
the remainder of the grand extensive empire of Islam, overlying the Abbasid and
Seljuk, with some Mongol impact through the Ilkhanids of Persia. The Fall of
Constantinople denoted the end of the Middle Agesand the start of another age in
Europe.
The Spanish and Portuguese Voyage The first countries in Europe to explore the
Atlantic would be Portugal and Spain. They both had a lot of sea involvement in the
Mediterranean, on account of exchange and long arrangement of maritime wars
against the Ottoman Turks. Portuguese and Spanish exploration amid the 1400s and
mid 1500s continued in two ways. To start with, the Portuguese endeavored to
achieve the grounds of the far east by guiding their way down the shoreline of Africa,
adjusting the landmass, and after that sailing across the Indian Ocean to Asia.
Second, and meanwhile, the Spanish, rivaling the Portuguese endeavored to locate
their own course to Asia by sailing west, around the world. Broadly the Spanish

Milton Snavely Hershey, born to Veronica and Henry Hershey, on September 13,
1857, grew up speaking Pennsylvania Dutch language. Milton was expected to help
with the family farm, like many other young children of that time. He had a four
year apprenticeship as a teenager and because of his early work experience, Milton
learned early on of the value of hard work and perseverance. In 1871, Milton Hershey
left school for good and was apprenticed to a local printer who published a German

47. Reflective Essay On Cheerleading
In the summer prior to my freshman year of high school, I decided I wanted to try
out for the school cheerleading team. The idea of being a member of a team of
passionate girls excited me, as well as relieved anxieties I had about entering a new
school; I enjoy the health benefits of regular exercise; and the rigorous schedule was
the discipline I was looking for when entering high school. I had decisively made up
my mind; I would be on the cheerleadingteam in high school. Unfortunately, my plan
did not unfold the way I imagined. Nearly 40 girls tried out, and with only a dozen
spots available on the team, a majority of the girls would not make it past the tryouts,
myself included. Although I did not have any cheer experience, I had hoped... Show

The pain I felt was overwhelming, and the mourning never truly comes to an end.
Sadly, I had decided I would not try out for the high school team, as I felt the
heaviness of life weighing down on my shoulders. The summer going into my
senior year was necessarily a period of introspection, where I had attentively
contemplated what I wanted to achieve in life. The situation of my friend was no
less painful, but made me realize that in order to live life to the fullest, I must at
least attempt to achieve my goals. It was my last chance to try out for the team, a
goal I had set for myself four years earlier. Ultimately, I decided to fight through my
anxieties and give it a shot. I am proud to say that I am now a cheerleader for
Sanford H. Calhoun High School. Throughout my years long attempt to make the
cheerleading team, I had learned that failure is an inevitable aspect of life. I also
learned that I have a strong sense of determination and will power. By setting
goals, I am able to maneuver my way towards success, one step at a time. With an
end goal in mind, I also have learned to enjoy the journey of life. Without the initial
rejection, I would never have joined Platinum Athletic and made some of my closest
friends, an experience I am grateful for. My determination to succeed is an integral
aspect of my personality, and I take pride in both my failures and
48. Professionalism in Nursing
There are many fields and professions in which professionalism is of the highest
reputation, and nursing is among them. In the area of nursing, there is much
importance to be placed with the improvement of professionalism within the
profession. Nursing is a profession that depends on practitioners to perform in a
way that characterized the goodness of the wider discipline, as all nurses are in a
position of accountability and responsibility. This essay will further look into the
topic of professionalism in nursing, the role of a registered nurse, and having
competence in relation to this role. Furthermore, this will also discuss how a
registered nurse demonstrates professional practice in relation to the New Zealand

Nurses should also ensure that they have the experience, skills, and training needed to
carry out the task that they are expected to implement with evidence based research.
These qualities are included in the second domain which is the management of
nursing care. For example, a nurse should have an understanding of the theoretical
frameworks which shape the nursing over the years. Such as an understanding of
Jean Watson s Theory of Care and its influence on the development of nursing
practice. Furthermore, patients approach nurses due to physical or mental conditions.
Thus, nurses should give the best care to address the needs of the patients. With
effective communication skills and willingness of patient s involvement, this
relationship will continue to nurture with time as long as there is readiness to listen
and harmony from both parties. This relates to the third domain which is
interpersonal relationship. Another factor for being professional is collegiality. This
connects to the fourth domain which is inter professional health care and quality
improvement. Collegiality is the relationship between colleagues who seek the
requirement of respect, mutual trust, and cooperation between team mates (Lorenz,
2013). It is the duty of a nurse to maintain healthy relationships with their team to
ensure the patient s wellbeing. This involves critical teamwork skills particularly
when it comes to referrals,
49. Dancing Resilience
Dancing is like all the resilience: emotional resilience, physical resilience, social
resilience, and mental resilience. I say it is emotional resilience because while you
are dancing you are expressing your feeling to people when they watch you dance.
Also if you enjoy dancing then, it will also build your emotional resilience. Dancing
gives a return on self investment because it helps connect to your mind emotions
and spirit. I also say that dancing is a physical resilience because they move with
confidence because they are experiencing the music that they are dancing to. Also,
dancing is a social resilience because you get to connect with people, be with people
and just have fun with random people that you probably had never meet before.

Athletics GM Billy Beane. For people who don t know what Moneyball is it s a
term that is used to describe how science and well spent money can result in more

51. Laertes in the Play and Movie Version of Hamlet Essay
Laertes in the Play and Movie Version of Hamlet
In the 1990 version of Hamlet starring Mel Gibson, Laertes is portrayed in a very
poor light. He seems to have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. At certain points
during the written play, Laertes s actions may be taken entirely differently than they
are conveyed in the movie. In the film version of Hamlet, all of Laertes s negative
aspects are much more pronounced.
As presented in the movie, Laertes is a sore loser. The text version of the play has
Laertes simply say No after Hamlet scores his first hit. In the movie, Laertes shows
much more emotion. His anger at Hamlet is obvious, and his frustration at being hit is
evident, as he screams in protest to the mediator s ... Show more content on

However, in the movie, Laertes struck Hamlet during a break when Hamlet neither
expected it nor could defend himself from it. In this way, the movie version of the
play makes Laertes out to be more cowardly than the text. Further, the text does not
designate how Laertes wounds Hamlet, so from only reading the text one could
presume that Laertes wounded Hamlet severely as an extension of the strength of
his anger. But, the film version has Laertes inflict what looks like only a superficial
or minor cut on Hamlet s arm a far cry from a mortal wound. In this instance,
Laertes is made out to be even more of a coward in the movie because he counts on
the poison to kill Hamlet rather than depending on himself, his strength, to produce a
wound on his own that is severe enough to kill Hamlet.
Another difference between the text and movie versions of the play which make
Laertes appear more villainous in the movie is his unwillingness to accept blame
for his wrongdoing. In the text, Laertes asks forgiveness after he has blamed
Claudius for everything, and after Hamlet has killed Claudius. In contrast, in the
film version Laertes reveals Claudius s plan to Hamlet right after the queen dies.
Because of this, Laertes appears in the film to be a coward and unwilling to take
blame for Gertrude s death by telling Hamlet about the poison on the blade

53. Pablo Neruda Metaphors
Poems are a way for people to express their feelings in an art form that provides
enough literary clues and expressive qualities to help a reader understand what is
being expressed. Pablo Neruda became a legendary poet in his lifetime from 1904
to 1973 in Chile. He never failed to leave a part of himself in each of his poems for
the reader to either identify with or interpret, which is most evident in his use of
metaphor. His metaphors can be labelled as being open , for they provide literal
comparisons between two completely unrelated ideas, which leave room for personal
interpretation. Because of the confusion evident in those connections, the reader is
immersed into the metaphor and its resulting tone, mood, and connotative meanings.

When Neruda comes to a conclusion about his feelings, speaking to his loved one,
he tells her that if she feels compelled every day to love him with implacable
sweetness,/ if each day a flower/ climbs up to your lips to seek me,/ ah my love, ah
my own,/ in me all that fire is repeated,/ in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
/ my love feeds on your love, beloved (Lines 38 44). As the poem concludes in the
sixth line, the reader is softly coasted to the end of the poem. Neruda knows he
may have to part from his lover one day, but he ensures that she understands that as
long as she continues to love him without his presence, he will feel her
commitment and continue to love her back. He describes her devotion using the
description of a flower climbing up to her lips to seek him. The flower is part of
an open metaphor, since the meaning of the statement can differ despite the flower
being a clear symbol of love. Either the flower climbing to her lips is literal, as she
may kiss a flower in memory of Neruda when he is not around, or it can be a
representation of relentless, passionate love. After using the metaphor of a flower, the

55. Symbolism And Symbolism In Roman Fever By Edith
Wharton
The short story, Roman Fever , written by Edith Wharton, tells of the two
American ladies who had an unexpected meeting in Rome. The two ladies, Mrs.
Grace Ansley and Mrs. Alida Slade, were seated in a restaurant at a table where
they faced the ruins of the Roman Forum. The setting triggers memories to soon fill
the minds of the two women who had spent their younger years living in this very
same place. Edith Wharton uses symbolism to characterize the life of lies the girls
have lived in to illuminate the naivete of young girls in love.
The title itself is an illusion that becomes symbolic for a young girl s love . Several
centuries ago, Roman Fever was a term given to a deadly strain of malaria that swept
across Rome. The disease killed thousands of people and ran ramped for many
years. Both the disease and the women share many of the same qualities. For
instance, when Mrs. Slade seemed physically reduced by the blow as if, when she
got up, the wind might scatter her like a puff of dust after beginning the
conversation with Grace about the love letter (paragraph 95). The image
symbolizes how a person might feel with the Roman Fever disease. Although no
character is ill with the Roman Fever, Wharton reveals how a young girl s love can
be like a disease as deadly as malaria.
Wharton chose the title to further display how powerful the stronghold of jealousy
was on the two ladies. For example, You tried your best to get away from me, didn t
you? But you
