Metaphorical Fences By August Wilson
The metaphorical fence in the play by August Wilson Fences connects to the
characters in the sense that they are either trying to keep people in or to keep them
out , but no matter the role of the fences they keep the family together through thick
or thin.
Even when the family is at their lowest this fence has been the center of it all. Troys
fences is that he doesn t want an equal. As well when the characters Troy and Corey
were fighting while building the fence.
The author was trying to get people to understand that fences aren t just about
keeping people out ,but to keep loved ones, Such as friends and family in and
opposed to keeping them out so they will grow distant until they no longer wish to be
with you or to get into it with
Grand Theft Auto V
Drug Uses Media Analysis When Grand Theft Auto V was released in 2013, it was
met with critical acclaim and commercial success. The reason for this is easy to
understand: players love the heists, murders, and drug activity the GTA franchise
has become known for; and Grand Theft Auto V is no exception to this rule.
Rockstar, the game developer of the series, have increased drug s role within the
game. This is the first time we have seen some drugs be directly incorporated into the
plot. Among many others, marijuana is one of the more common used drugs in the
game. Two of the main protagonists, Michael and Franklin, can openly smoke
marijuana at their homes. In addition to this, buying out a beachside medical
marijuana shop is a positive move... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Franklin lights his bong, the screen immediately becomes slightly blurred.
You no longer have control over Franklin, and he will start to talk to himself
slowly. While Rockstar developed a few different scripts for what Franklin says
when he is high, it is usually along the lines of him noting how relaxed he feels.
You regain control usually around an hour after in GTA time, or about two
minutes in real time. Smoking marijuana in real life can usually result in a two
hour high, though many factors can affect that number. GTA is not realistic in this
sense; one can expect Rockstar wanted to make it a quick high to give the player
more time to explore other areas of the game. While blurred vision is not a
symptom of being high, slowed reaction time and dizziness are, which would
explain Franklin s slow movements and uncontrolled motor skills while driving.
For example, our textbook shows that slowing of cognitive performance is a
symptom of marijuana usage, even in regular users (Ksir and Hart, 2015, p.359).
While Grand Theft Auto may stretch the effects of marijuana usage to benefit the
player, it also includes many symptoms found in the real world. Grand Theft Auto
is set in the city of Los Santos, a fictional version of Los Angeles. California is
generally a progressive state when it comes to marijuana, and this is carried over into
the game. With the
The Incident Command System Essay
Emergency services face vast difficulties in the operations field when handling
emergency situations, whether it comes from handling a minor accident to a
catastrophic catastrophy. Many of the difficulties do not come from the actual
incident, but instead they arise from forming a rescue team containing different
agencies and people. For the benefit off all individuals participating, it is imperative
that there be a unified command structure in place to effectively coordinate and
oversee the tasks that need to be accomplished. The need of a unified command was
seen from the hardships faced in incidents, bringing forth the development of the

Directly receiving directions from the Incident Commander as well as reporting to
the Command Staff are sections that oversee, plan, and assemble the necessary
resources to carry out the Incident Action Plan passed down from the Command
Staff. The Operations Section is managed by the Operations Section Chief who
oversees all tactical operations at the incident. Deputies can then be appointed
underneath the Operations Section Chief to control different Branches of
operations in order to keep the span of control in scale. Ideally one individual
should only control five other individuals on scene. As resources grow, the span of
control can be reduced through the implementation of Divisions and Groups.
Divisions can be used if the need arises to slit operations into geographical
locations. This allows for the Operations Section Chief to pass on vital information
to crews in a specific location. These divisions may simply be a quadrant of a
structure, as well as a large area. It enables for all Divisions to communicate and
work together, even through the use of different methods. Groups can then be
implemented to further break down Divisions into smaller more manageable
resources. In each geographical location, the ability to control law

An Analysis of the Characters Relationship Development in Roman Holiday from
the Perspective of Politeness Principle 1. Introduction Roman Holiday is a classical
romance comedy film in which a reporter falls in love with a runaway European
princess. As a very influential film, Roman Holiday makes a deep impression on the
audience with its funny plots and expressive dialogues. However, most of the critics
attribute its success to the plot arrangement and actors performance. As far as the
author concern, the film dialogues also plays an important role. Moreover, many
scholars, who are engaged in linguistic studies, begin to apply linguistic approach to
analyze film dialogues, the results are interesting and inspiring. Some critics... Show

Holiday 3.1 Manifestation of Tact Maxim in Roman Holiday Tact Maxim is
oriented towards other s interests, wants and needs. It is often used in directive
situations, such as requests, which are often indirect, tentative, giving an
opportunity to refuse, and also minimizing speaker s imposition on hearer. It has
positive and negative sub maxims: Minimize the cost to other. Maximize the
benefit to other. In the film, there are many conversations observing this maxim.
When poor Joe wants to borrow some money from the landlord Giovanni so as to
take the princess out down the town and make an exclusive interview on her. Joe
asked in an indirect way: Joe: Swell! Thanks a lot. Oh er, Giovanni, er... How
would you like to make some money? Giovanni: Money? Joe: Yeah. That s the

Why Should Citizens Be Able To Own Exotic Animals
Should Citizens be able to Own Exotic Animals? What exactly is an Exoctic
animal ? An animal that s isn t usually kept as a pet. For instance, a Lion, Scorpion,
or even a Tarantula. No, citizens should not be able to own exotic animals. I say
this for many reasons, one of which is the simple fact that these animals are far to
dangerous for any person who isn t a zoologist to care for. Exotic animals aren t
domesticated, in other words, they are not tamed. That fact is what many people fail
to realize. They may think It ll be so cool to own a baby tiger. But what about when
that baby tiger is no longer a baby? Not to mention that these animals are time
consuming and extremely expensive. If you think vet trips for

head injury during her school break. The twenty one year old, BU crew team
member is now finding herself in need of a variety of different medical interventions
to help her return to normalcy. Her symptoms include short term memory problems,
change in appetite and mood, impaired physical abilities, and a change in her word

to return to school, which her physician clears with the recommendation of her
receiving a multitude of different types of care. This paper will be an examination of
what Sari s health insuranceplan will cover and to what extent.
Sari is insured through a preferred provider organization, which will be referred to as

loose knit organizations where the provider is typically paid at a discounted rate
(Bodenheimer Grumbach, 2012, pp. 32 33). People with PPO type plans,
including Sari, are able to see providers that are out of network for a higher out of

recommendations from Sari s physician, it is very likely that she will be placed on

Essay on Collapse Final
Collapse Final
Question One In his book Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, Jared
Diamond outlines five factors that may lead to a societal collapse: climate change,
hostile neighbors, loss of trading partners, environmental damage, and a society s
response to its problems. The climate change Diamond is talking about here refers to
natural fluctuations in weather; fifty years of great weather can lead to a population
boom, but followed by fifty years of bad weather it can lead to collapse caused by
lack of food. Before things were written down, word of mouth was how information
got passed down; there is a time limit to living memory and a society could forget
that the climate of the place they inhabited didn t ... Show more content on

All of these factors, with the exception of the introduction of alien species, are rooted
in overpopulation relative to the capacity of the environment. According to
Diamond, there are two methods to prevent collapse; the bottom up method and
the top down method. The Bottom up method is most effective in small societies
where everyone knows and is accountable to their neighbors. This allows for the
community to create and implement a solution to its own issues. The Top down
method is meant for bigger societies with bigger government, like the U.S. Unlike
with the bottom up method, the people are not concerned with the well being of
the entire group; they do not have an overview of the entire society. However, a
ruler does, and also has the ability to impose rules and regulations on their society
to preserve the environment for future generations. Societies that choose to
implement these methods have a better success rate than those that do not. Also
factored into the success of a society is the fragility of the environment, and
choosing an economy to fit that environment. As discussed in class, Diamond uses
the method of cherry picking to prove his theories. Basically, he picks and chooses
which facts to include in his book to best support his theories. It is impossible for
him to list all of the evidence for the collapse of a society
Analysis Of The Movie Where The Boys Are
While changing social attitudes toward female sexuality and premarital sex are in
part responsibility for the changing portrayals of the women in Where the Boys Are
and Where the Boys Are 84, an evolution of industry policy is also a major factor.
One element that greatly influence the 1960 s version of the filmis the Production
Code. The Production Code, also known as the Hay s Code for its creator, was a
set of rules and regulations governing motion picture censorship created by the
Motion Picture Products and Distributors of America (MPPDA) (Pollard 2009).
From 1934 to 1968, films had to be approved by the MPPDA to be shown in
mainstream theaters. At its most simple the code required that correct standards of
life, subject only the requirements of drama and entertainment shall be presented
(Pollard 2009). However, despite these restriction, films still found ways to speak
about forbidden topics. Instead of being blatantly discussed, sexuality was often
alluded to (Stern and Brown 2008).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This restriction can be seen in the narrative progression of Where the Boys Are.
While the film is able to imply a promiscuous character in Melanie, she is forced to
suffered through implied date rape and a suicide attempt. Even as the code began to
loosen in the mid 1960s, teen sexuality was still portrayed in an idealistic manner.
Beach films, a popular teen genre in the late 1950s and early 1960s, that included
the original Where the Boys Are, were praised for lots of flesh but no sex...virginity

The Income Statements, Balance Sheet, And Statement Of...
Income Statements Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows
Financial statements are very important for decision makers in the business world.
They inform the firm s owners, lenders and managers of the performance of the
company and their employees. Standardized financial statements make for financial
transparency between all businesses and sectors of business. Financial statements are
important to companies not only to measure performance but to obtain capital
through debt and equity. The main financial statements used by all companies,
private and public, are the balance sheet, income statement (profit and loss statement),
and statement of cash flows. Companies also use financial ratios to determine if they
are performing to standards and are determine if they are increasing revenues
sufficiently with the amount of expenses and debt taken on.
Income Statement
The income statement measures the flow of business activity by comparing
revenues to the expenses over a period of time, as opposed to the momentary status
of the business at a point in time (Brian P. Brinig, 2011). The income statement is
important because it lists the amount of expenses that were incurred to create the
revenues of the company. The biggest typical expenses for a company are the cost of
goods sold, advertising and promotion, depreciation, wages and salaries, and rent.
Balance Sheet
A balance sheet lists assets, liabilities and equity of a business at a single point in
Communication Style Of Tim Cook
out the question from the audience before getting involved in answering the question
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nthFhrKqh3I). As per his communication style,
he is able to perform effectively in individual communication. However, in case of
mass audience, he is unable to perform accordingly. The reason behind performing
weak in front of a mass audience is his nervousness. In this context, he is able to
manage in hiding his nervousness while delivering speech. Apart from that,
communicationstyle is not enough to create strong impact over the listeners. The
individual should also have a prompt communication skill for attracting the audience
towards the viewpoint. In case of Tim Cook, he is not that active with his physical
gesture while addressing a mass audience (Schriver, 2012).
As opined by (Hawkins Fillion, 2012), communication style of Tim Cook can be
more effective by considering some activities. The activities such as improving
presentation and body language while communicating. Apart from that, a prompt
decision should be delivered with sufficient energy. Rate of speech of Cook is very
low, which probably prevents him from presenting his own statement. On the other
hand, Arnold (2014) opposed that appearance of Cook is very formal, which is not
feasible with the agenda of Steve Jobs. Jobs use to maintain his signature turtleneck
and jeans. Thus, he was able to engage the audience towards his speech by providing
qualitative materials as support. In case of Tim
Descriptive Essay About Mother s Beach
Mother s Beach holds a dear place in my heart. It is where mothers bring their
children knowing the calm, cool waves will allow their young to experience all the
joy a beach can provide. I had been there many of times in my short but happy life.
At the time I had just been faced with all the excitement that comes with celebrating
a birthday; I was now the big 5 years old. I thought I was ready to take on the world,
sadly, I was unaware of all the seemingly innocent dangers out there in the world. My
familyand I were planning a trip to Mothers Beach trying to reminisce in all the
memories we had of Long Beach. In a couple days, we would be moving half way
across the U.S. to Tulsa, Oklahoma making this our last trip to our beloved and
special place. It would be a break from all of the hectic and assiduous process of
packing up our entire house.
My dad helped my mom load up our white mini van with everything we needed:
towels, sunscreen for our pale as can be skin, and more beach toys than anyone
could ever possibly need; we were ready to conquer the beach. We said, goodbye to
our dad who was making his way out the door to go to work and started out our 15
minute journey to Mother s Beach on Pacific Coast Highway anticipating the
contentment this adventure would bring. My oldest sister, Amanda was sitting in the
front seat next to my mom. My other sister, Shannon and I were in the 2nd row.
Shannon and I were lightly kicking Manda s seat, tormenting her like any annoying
The Development of Maraging Steels Essay
Maraging steels of different compositions have been prepared by means of induction
furnace electro slag remelting technique using titanium and chromium instead of
cobalt which is a high expensive strategic element, also nickel content was reduced to

numbers have been determined for the prepared samples at photon energies 238, 583,
661, 911, 1173, 1332 and 2614keV. The results are compared with the corresponding
theoretical calculations. In addition, the hardness has been determined for the
investigated steels. High nitrogen free nickel steeland carbon steel samples have been
also investigated for the sake of comparison. The achieved results reveal the... Show

They are formed during ageing in the temperature range between 400 and 600oC
after the steels had been solution annealed in the austenitic phase and air cooled
which results in a martensitic microstructure. Over the past half century, two
major types of maraging steels have been developed, the 18Ni maraging steels and
the cobalt free maraging steels. The Standard maraging steels contain 18% Ni, 8%
Co, 5% Mo and 0.4% Ti. But Ni, Co and Mo are very expensive strategic alloying
elements as cobalt reaches to levels as high as 8 to 13%. This keeps the steels rather
expensive, preventing wider selection and application, but with maximum strength
levels reaching 2400 MPa, accompanied by good toughness and ductility. Therefore,
developing cobalt free maraging steel with reduced quantities of expensive alloying
elements to lower the production cost has been an important direction of maraging
steels research. Over the past two decades, enormous advances have been achieved
in the development of cobalt free maraging steels to high strength levels with Ni and
Ti as the major precipitation hardening phase in cobalt free maraging steels.
To overcome this problem, titanium was used as one of the primary strengthening
element replacing Co in steels, and to overcome the problem of retained

Daimler Swot Analysis Essay
SWOT Analysis SWOT is an abbreviation which stands for the internal Strength and
Weaknesses of the company and the external Opportunities and Threats facing it. This
analysis is a common technique that used by managers and potential investors to get
a quick summary of the firm s strategy. The cornerstone of this analysis is an
assumption that an optimal strategy of the company derives from a sound fit among
company s internal resources (strengths and weaknesses) and its external
opportunities and threats. An ideal management maximizes strengths and
opportunities of the firm and nullifies its threats and weaknesses. Accurately
implemented SWOT analysis could be a big potential basis of successful corporate

Migration For Immigrants
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. During
the years 1886 and 1924 ( The Immigrant s Statue, 2016), one of the first things
immigrants entering the United States through New York saw was the Statue of
Liberty. Glancing upwards towards Lady Liberty they felt a sense of relief and
comfort that they had finally reached the land of the free. Throughout history people
have been constantly migrating from one place to the next. The reasons for migration
vary and in most cases it influences the type of relationship that exist between migrant
and host country. During the 1990s, a vast amount of Indian technology workers
migrated to Silicon Valley, California. While India suffered a major brain drain, these
Sarcasm
Many people would say that Linn didn t do anything spectacular in her life, for the
people who say this, you are absolutely correct. She hardly did any work and usually
solved her problems by having her head in the clouds and imagining a wonderland
for herself. Sarcasm was one of her finest values and more than once she was caught
taking the shortcut for almost everything.
However, with all these flaws she had, she made them up by being the bright,
sarcastic and carefree girl that her family knew her for all her life, and even in her
final moments.
Linn was a dramatic, imaginative, energetic, and very expressive throughout her
life. Ever since she was a baby she has confused but amused her family with her
little ideas, plans, and stories that she would come up with in merely five seconds.
Most times her stories would take a drastic turn, as she liked it, and it would be
turn to a cockroach getting squished to her stuffed animals wanting to kill her if she
didn t sleep with them. She had a lot of ideas in her head when she was little, which
made her into the imaginative women her family has grown to love her for.

Business Intelligence Concept
1.0 Summary
With the advent of economic globalization and information era, the environment of
enterprise is more complex and the competition of market is more intense, the
organizational structure of the enterprise is also more and more complex. In this
environment, enterprises want to request to the survival and development must have
efficient operation, the right decisions and quick response. This requires a tool to
help enterprises to produce large amounts of data in the process of operation and data
collection, consolidation, analysis and assessment and then make a correctly
predicted basis of these processes, so as to realize that transform data to information,
information to knowledge and knowledge to profit for enterprises (Nemati, 2004).
Therefore, business intelligence was born. In this essay, it mainly discussed the
impact and advantage of business intelligence to enterprise development, and it also
give some examples of applications to help understand the function of business
intelligence system.

and branched fatty acid branched chain esters (BFABCEs), which are promising
isopentenols. These can be produced via multiple pathways, the leucine and valine
pathway as well as the fatty acid pathway. Another and main source pathway
producing biofuels, which produces isopentyl diphosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl
dipho sphate (DMAPP), are the 2 methyl (D) erythritol 4 phosphate (MEP) and
mevalonate dependent (MVA)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is proof that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that have a lesser negative
impact that can sustain the energy demands that we have today. Currently, as seen
in the table, microbes have been proven to produce ethanol, biodiesel and
hydrogen, which are all sources that can be used for producing renewable fuels.
One of the various types of ethanol produced are C5 alcohols also referred to as
isopentenols and other 5 branched carbon alcohols. As Connor and Liao suggest
Higher chain alcohols (C3 C5) contain a high energy density, and are compatible
with the current infrastructure as they are less hygroscopic. These alcohols (iso
propanol, 1 propanol, 1 butanol, isobutanol, 3 methyl 1 butanol, 2 methyl 1 butanol,
isopentenol) can be blended with gasoline and also have potential to be used as
replacements, as 1 butanol has already been shown to perform well in conventional
gasoline engines (Connor; Liao, 2009). There is some controversy about how
current biofuels are not efficient at low temperature; however, FABCEs and
BFABCEs have low freezing points, which can allow for the biofuel to have greater
performance (Tao et. al, 2015). As previously mentioned, isopentenols have
properties, which mirror those of octane and
Effective And Ineffective Teacher Student Relationships
The purpose of this study was to analyze the research findings on effective and
ineffective teacher student relationships and the results on student achievement and
behavior. Marzano discusses the teacher s personality not necessarily pertaining to the
quality of T S relationship. The teacher should act professionally as an advocate.
Marzano claims that Rather, the most effective T S relationships are characterized by
specific teacher behaviors: exhibiting appropriate levels of dominance; exhibiting
appropriate levels of cooperation; and being aware of high needs students. Dominance
does not mean force or control but rather providing a clear purpose and strong
guidance to students, both academically and behaviorally (Marzano, 2003). Teacher
student relationships are also formed as a result of how things are run and the
atmosphere of a classroom, primarily routines and expectations. Dominance is also
not referring to the teacher talking the whole time with limited or no student
interaction as seen in a study conducted by analyzing video observations. Monologic

How To Respond To Orsell s Letter
Going into December, Orsell was just a few months away from finishing his time

Orsell was talking about how Christmas Eve would be fun if his friends were here

The research design is appropriate for answering the research question, which was
determining the consequences and perspectives from patients and health care
providers on the new policies mandating smoke free hospital properties. The
research design is appropriate because ethnographic research is based on studying
patterns of behaviour within a culture. This study was based on studying patterns of
behaviours on smoking policies but the study mostly aimed to gain perspectives
from a variety of individuals. Ethnographic method is great for the study in the fact
that it can be used to include behavioural and cognitive perspectives, which in this
case the study focused on observing behaviours of smoking and if the policies were
being followed and also included the perspectives on the new smoke free policies.
Also ethnographic research usually focuses on studying one culture. This study did
try to focus on one specific culture, but the population had diversity consisting of
smokers and non smokers. The culture that was viewed in the study was tobacco use
and management. Sample and Setting It was stated in the study s paper that sampling
was designed to enhance the diversity of perspectives heard from each study site
while achieving comparable diversity between sites. (p.1335). Sampling methods that
were used to target diversity include convenience and stratified quota strategies to

Aristotle Happiness
Aristotle is a well known philosopher whose views on virtue differ from other
philosophers and whose thinking about happiness involves human flourishing and
well being. Aristotle wants Aristotle does believe that there is a higher good of
human action: this is happiness (Lear, 1988, p. 160 61). Happiness comes in many
different ways and is different for every person. The way that a person defines
happinessis where it gets complicated because sometimes a person defines happiness
in a way that is not thought of as a good thing. Pursuing genuine happiness and a
virtuous like, to Aristotle, are essentially the same things. If you want to pursue one,
you must want to pursue the other as well because without the both of them there

Eudaimonia translates to happiness. Many believe that eudaimonia is the best
happiness that someone should strive for. According to eudaimonist virtue ethics, the

possessor in that way, barring bad luck (Hursthouse Pettigrove, 2003). Aristotle
believes that this virtue is the best to achieve because it is what helps to guide you
in the right path to true happiness. Being able to achieve that happiness for you and

The Woman in Black Review Essay
The Woman in Black Review
Upon the arrival in London my anticipation was high. My first impression of the
Fortune Theatre was; it was a very old Victorian building, very small and slightly
ragged. Upon entering it felt very cramped and made you feel claustrophobic. The
atmosphere was eerie due to the old style of the building. This was particularly
effective as the play was set in the Victorian period. This made you feel as if you
were in the past. Also the narrow staircase and small seating area created effect.
Before the play starts there is no background music played to set a scene or image in
the audiences mind. The play starts without warning and lights go down and we are
straight into the story.
The play is set in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Images were also shone on to a translucent curtain showing at the position of the
actors. This included a crucifix. This was effective as it was a very overpowering
image, which embraces the audience as it is the first scary moment of the play. The
other image was of the house in which the Woman in Black haunts. It gives you a
mental representation of what the building would look like. Upon seeing this
building, it was obvious a catastrophe was immanent.
The lighting also represented where they were. For instance the actors were on a train
and the windows of another train passed. This made you jump and started a
continuous pattern of many frights to come.
Sometimes the lack of lighting built up the atmosphere. At one time the stage was
dark until the actor lit a match which illuminated his face. The effect of this was
astonishing, such a simple thing as a match built up the scene immediately. The
match was very effective because it was less bright than a spotlight and would not
show off the surroundings. A torch was also used in the same way as the match
but was just as effective as it showed a specific area. After seeing this used I
realised how effective low light can be to create suspense and confusion. Sometimes
the light came as a relief for the audience. In the first half of the play whenever there
was a scary part normal lighting would come in to effect and give the audience relief
from the intenseness.
This almost gave the audience

Power In The Scarlet Ibis
The only difference between a hero and the villain is that the villain chooses to use
that power in a way that is selfish and hurts other people (Chadwick Boseman). In
Hurst s The Scarlet Ibis, the narrator chooses to use his power in a way that hurts his
invalid brother, Doodle. While living in a time period where different is improper,
the narrator cannot mentally handle the fact that Doodle is different from others.
Being the older sibling, the narrator takes on the responsibility to help Doodle
become ordinary. He teaches Doodle to walk, run, climb, and swim, because he is
ashamed of having a brother with disabilities. As a result, the narrator serves as a
villain by forcing his invalid brother, Doodle, past his limitations, which ultimately

Older siblings feel obligated to take authority over their younger siblings. The
narrator took the responsibility of teaching Doodle to develop into an ordinary boy;
however, he supports Doodle out of selfishness. With this in mind, the narrator
changes Doodle s name from William Armstrong to Doodle because he believes
Doodle is not strong enough to have that name. He believes William Armstrong
only sounds good only on a tombstone, (595) so changing Doodle s name was the
kindest thing he could have done. Likewise, the narrator selfishly disobeys the
doctor s list of don ts for Doodle because he doesn t agree with Doodle s
limitations. In fact, the narrator hauls Doodle carelessly around cotton fields and
whips him around corners on two wheels of the go cart. As a result, the narrator
decides to take the next step in teaching Doodle. As school approaches, Doodle falls
behind on learning to run, swim, and climb. Therefore, the narrator decides to double
his efforts and push Doodle even harder. I made him swim until he turned blue and

Augustine s Lust
In book II, Augustine begins with a deep confession of his sexual desires in his
youth. He is eager to seek for erotic pleasure through his adolescence, as he says I
ran wild in the shadowy jungle of erotic adventures (p.24, i(I)). As Augustine grows
up, he starts to realize that the motivation for his act is to loveand to be loved.
However, he struggles between the pleasure of love and the iniquity of lust because
he fails to learn that there should be a constraint between two. He believes that God s
rage and anger is the punishment for his indulgence and makes him suffer from
troubles and unhappiness. When Augustine was sixteen, his father raised funds in
order to send him to Carthage to study. His father was praised because he tried...

He argues that he stole things not because he admired them; instead, he enjoyed
the feeling of committing crime and being evil. He and his friends sneaked into
the vineyard to steal pears, and they throw them to pigs; they did this merely
because they enjoyed the excitement of doing things that were not allowed.
Augustine argues that the good spiritual things exist in the world because God
creates them; if a person aims to acquire them, he has to obey the law and cannot
apart from God. However, the world also has attractiveness because of the beauty of
inferior things. The motivation for a crime is that they believe those inferior objects
are more attractive, compared with God s giving. The pears that Augustine and his
friend stole was beautiful, tasty, and could bring them true happiness, but this
happiness was not what they were seeking for. Augustine wants to figure out the
reason he acts in this way. He discussed that every desire no matter good or bad is
actually the desire to be like God. For instance, pride relates to being noble, and God
has the highest status among everything; curiosity represents the ambition to acquire
the knowledge, and God is the most intelligent and wise. On the contrary, ignorance
and stupidity derives from simplicity and innocence; however, there is no doubt that
God consists the most simplicity and blamelessness. Idleness shows a desire to obtain
quiet life, yet God keeps stable and unchanging forever. Therefore, Augustine
concludes that all acts, including sinful ones, that move away from God s perfection
actually seeks to return to
The Importance Of Authorship In William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare, arguably one of the greatest writers of Western Civilization, is
best known for his plays and sonnets. Although much of his life is unknown, he is
still praised two centuries later for his influence on English literature. Despite the
praise that he gets for his works, much controversy has arisen over the authorship of
his written work. Shakespeare s plays have stood the test of time but their authorship
has been questioned. This question has been disputed for many years between
adamant scholars who have different opinions and theories on the matter. Some
scholars believe that Shakespeare wrote his plays, some believe another play writer
wrote the plays and used his name as a pseudonym, and others contest that there were
additional contributors to the texts. Shakespeare s credibility came to be questioned
because his lower class origins and limited education seem to be inconsistent with the
knowledge, culture and language that is demonstrated in the works that he is so well
known for. The question of authorship in Shakespeare plays examines the
methodology for authorship studies and changes in linguistics over time (pg 4).
During his time, William Shakespeare was never questioned on whether or not his
plays were written by him. It wasn t until many years after he died that this
controversy arose in the works of many opinionated scholars. It has since been a topic
of discussion throughout various scholarly articles, all demonstrating a different
stance
Bacchae Theatre Experience
The Bacchae was really interesting to see, especially after taking the spectacle
theatre class. It actually reminded me more of exercises that we did in spectacle
theater than in this class but it did remind me of the sound project, particularly
when the Bacchae go into the crowd and start yelling from the sidelines during the
Walls Work scene because it was a really great way of creating a sort of soundscape
atmosphere that came from more than one direction on the stage. Those are the kind
of concepts that we were playing with in the soundexercise. Some of the lines, like
some of the more abstract Bacchae lines reminded me of free writing exercises,

I think that people in the audience felt involved, especially during the scene where
Pentheus is like Donald Trump because you have all the Bacchae in the audience
yelling and cheering. When the Bacchae join the crowd and cheer and yell from
the seats it makes the audience feel more involved. They act just like Trump
supporters at a rally which is a very relevant commentary which I think worked
really well. The whole comparison itself between Pentheus and Donald Trump is
just really interesting to me because we see Pentheus as this tyrant, stubborn and
afraid of foreigners. That itself is what makes it so funny because it s also a good
parody of Donald

The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe Research Paper
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Lewis, 1978) is a
story about four children who discover a magical wardrobe that transports them to a
magical land called Narnia. In Narnia, there is an ongoing battle between Aslan and
the White Witch. The children are supposed to fulfill a prophecy that states, When
Adam s flesh and Adam s bone, Sits at Cair Paravel in throne, The evil time will be
over and done. The Pevensie children become a threat to the White Witch and she
will do anything to stop them. The story has many biblical connections, however, the
one that stuck out the most, was the White Witch being the representation of Satan.

The first weapon she uses is her magic wand that produces any food or drink the
person wants. This magic makes you want to have more and more of the food
though. In the book, Edmund asks for turkish delight from the White Witch. The
Turkish Delight causes Edmund happiness at first, but then causes him to betray
his family and to experience pain. The pain of betraying loved ones, knowing
failure, and realizing that you committed a terrible sin. This wand symbolizes
Satan s power of sin. It appears as something good and harmless and develops into
something awful. It causes people to do things they never believed they could do.
One taste of sin and then their evil slowly began to grow until it was a monster
consuming one s life. The next weapon seen in the book is the golden wand that
turns people into stone. Turning people into stone is seen in the bible in the story
of Sodom. Sodom is a city where only sin happens, for that reason God decides to
destroy Sodom. However, God tells Lot, a holy man, that he and his family should
flee Sodom and not look back or else they will die with it. When Lot and his family
are running away from Sodom, Lot s wife looks back and is turned into a pillar of
salt (NIV, Genesis). This is significant because Sodom is an example of a city of
traitors. The White Witch is the Emperor s hangman and has the right to his traitors.
Also, people being stone is very significant.
Circuit City Business Failure
Circuit City was first established in 1949 under the name of Wards Company in
Richmond, Virginia by Sam Wurtzel. What started out as a little storefront would
later flourish into a national chain of superstores retailing electronics and appliances.
Interesting enough, this retail giant would eventually close its doors and become
known to many as one of American retailings great failures (Romero, 2013, p. 31).
The thought that this small Richmond based retailer would soon become a great
success only to later end up as one of America s great retail failure. Wurtzel was an
entrepreneur from New York. He was on his way to North Carolina on vacation, when
he stopped in Richmond, Virginia to get a haircut. During a conversation between
Wurtzel and the barber, he was told that the first television station had just opened

Later, Wurtzel decided to expand the business into discount stores (Romero, 2013,

expand its business even further by adding discount stores. But, in 1975, taking on
expansion too quickly almost caused the company to file bankruptcy. To prevent
going bankrupt, the company decided to scale back on the number of unprofitable
outlets by closing or selling them. Then in the late 70 s the business began to make
a comeback. It grew rapidly so much so that the company had fifty three superstore

Technology And Its Impact On Technology Essay
In today s society, there have been many speculations on the impact of technology.
The rise of technology has unfolded into the betterment of many advances in the
industry. However, it is no surprise that these advances have also caused society into
depending so much on technology. Author Sherry Turkle, argued that we as a society
have distanced ourselves from one another; she discusses her observations drawn
from humanbeings and their interaction with social machines. She indicated that
humansrely much more on technology which has negatively impacted the way we
communicate with one another. Every individual has their own flaws. In our
imperfections, we tend to discriminate among one another, we have preconceived
notion based on what we have seen or experienced. Perhaps, there is a say that
goes a book should never be judged by its cover . In addition to, various studies
observed by between robots and children, Turkle implies that robots are slowing
replacing humans. As a result of our dependency on technology, humans are failing
each other and the constant rise of technology should not be blame for it, as we do
have control over some of these issues.
In the 1760 1800 s, the first machine age occurred during the industrial revolution.
The industrial revolution was transition from a hand labor to a machine labor. The
new machines were powered by water, steam and coal. The Industrial revolution
marked a very profitable time for many factory owners because, unlike humans

Las Meninas Essay
Las Meninas (after cleaning), 10 ft. 7 in. Г— 9 ft. ВЅ in. (3.23 Г— 2.76 m), in
Museo del Prado, Madrid Spain is an oil on canvas which is done by the main
Baroque artist in the seventeenth century, counter reformation, Diego
VelГЎzquez(1599 1660). This work is not just greeting for the artist s genius as a
painter, but at the same time is about the very specialty of painting. This VelГЎzquez
s unqualified masterpiece is monumental which is painted on 1656. The complex
works and composition raise questions about reality and illusion, however, this
drawing has been one of the most widely analyzed works in western painting.
To begin with, the setting is a vast room in the palace of King Philip Quaternary and
Queen Mariana, parents of the five years old infant Margharita, who is the focus of
the picture. She is presented by her housemaid (Meninas) and accompanied by a dog,
a midget, and a dwarf. The precise costumes of the Spanish court are painted in such a
way, to the point that the brushstrokes highlight the texture and the composition.

They appear to be placed outside the picture space, although some people have
thought that there image is a reflection from the painting the artist is shown working
on. The questions rise, does their picture imply that they are really standing in front
of their daughter, or that they are the subjects of VelГЎzquez s canvas?
The mirror in Las Meninas may be purposefully vague, which would not be
conflicting with Baroque taste. The status of painting is another issue to which
VelГЎzquez almost certainly classify in Las Meninas. It was not viewed as a
liberal art in Spain, as it was in Italy, but instead was considered as a handicraft. It is
likely that by setting himself in royal company, VelГ
Ўzquez was arguing for raising
the status of painting and that of the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Air In
Aviation
Not everyone understands that there are many advantages to private jet travel
especially the convenience and efficiency. You don t have to fly out of crowded
airports and you don t have to sit on flights that are cramped and full of people.
Beside private flights leave from smaller airports so they are usually closer to your
home and you can get there without having to fight the traffic to the main airport.
Now people who choose to fly by private jet depart from a small facility which lets
them avoid the chaos of a commercial terminal. Instead of parking in an adjoining
lot and having to take a shuttle to your aircraft you park in a free lot, right close by
and your car will be secure 24/7. Your always with all of your belongings on a
private flight and don t have to worry about your baggage being slammed and
banged. On top to that once you get to your destination your baggage will be with
you instead of miles away lost in another airport.... Show more content on

the aircraft will wait. Once in flight everyone can choose what they want to eat and

Walls In Ronald Reagan s Mending Wall
Walls are a thing that the world knows far too well. People that live by walls tend
to dislike the very wall they live by. I believe that walls are a terrible thing for the
world to go through again. Walls separate friends and family. They also stop the
transport of goods from other countries from being exchanged. Nature even
disapproves of walls. Giant walls create giant blockages for people.
Walls separate friends and family from being together and having fun. In Robert Frost
s Mending Wallthe narrator and neighbor don t abhor each other but the wall is
stopping them from being good neighbors. Ronald Reagan s Tear Down This Wall is
about taking down a wall that separates a country into two countries. The walls of the

Walls stop goods being transported from place to place. In Reagan s Tear Down
This Wall people in East Germany cannot give things to people in West Germany.
Also in Frost s Mending Wall the neighbors cannot exchange apples and pines. The
walls block transportation of goods as much as they block people from each other.
Nature itself even disapproves of man made walls.
Nature is a very powerful force beyond human comprehension, let alone control. But
at spring mending time we find them there, (Robert Frost). This means that nature
and time are trying to tear the wall down to reunite the neighbors. Walls are not a
natural feature of the Earth, they are man made. The force of nature doesn t like to
be trifled with, it will destroy the walls and make sure they are not rebuilt. I believe
that walls need to be destroyed from the face of this Earth.
Some people state that walls are a good thing because they keep the villains out.
That may be true, but walls are causing more harm than good. Walls keep not only
villains out, but they also keep out the heroes or innocent people that have done
nothing wrong. Walls are also a waste of time, money and resources. Walls being
created are sure to be torn down and all of that time is wasted. I think that walls
should not be a thing we have to think about, whether it be the present or the
Analysis Of The Film The Flies By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Artistically speaking, this film is beautiful. There was a lot of thought put into
every detail from the actors to the camera shots. The film seems to flow in
beautiful manner from one scene to the next. One piece of art in the film is the use
of symbols. Each symbol is delicately placed in order to make sense to any viewers
that can pick up on them. One symbol is Nick s obsession with his Peace Lily. It
represents his obsession with the job. It is the only other thing he cares for because
its needs are simple and by the books. When he breaks it, it is supposed to symbolize
his change of heart; that somebody has taken the place of the lily. Another symbol in
the filmis the number 3. There are 3 murders that take place before people believe
Nicholas. There are 3 people Nick tries to talk to in order to get out of being sent to
Sanford. Many lines are repeated 3 times over. This could be in reference to
fairytales always using the number 3, since this plot seems far fetched like a
fairytale. However, it could also be in reference to the trilogy of films that Wright
and Pegg made together. Then, there is the swan symbol. Swans typically symbolize
grace, beauty, and peace. In the film, though, the swans symbolize an overbearing
distraction. Nicholas is constantly surrounded by them in the hotel he stays at, which
is rightly called The Swan Hotel . He is also charged with the task of catching an
escaped swan. This causes him to miss many chances to catch the perpetrators of

Cooperative Learning. This deals with students working on activities in small groups
and being rewarded on their group performance. I like this form of structure in the
classroom because some students work better in groups and they feel more
comfortable with working with others and it also gives the ones who do not work
well with the opportunity for them to be better at that.
Along with that there are also certain philosophies that I will use to guide me through

behaviorism positive reinforcement. Progressivism deals with making education more
relevant to the needs and interests of the student s. The teacher centers the curriculum
on the experiences, interests, and abilities of each student. By this, the teacher
pushes for the student to be at a higher level of knowledge; because one important
aspect I learned is that Progressivism in the classroom students are able to solve
problems similar to those outside of the classroom. To me that is very important for
the students to take what they learned and take it to another level, even outside the
The Reserve Bank Of Australia
Executive Summary
Booms, busts, recessions, and growth; all of the preceding terms are characteristics of
a typical market economy. There are times when an economy can flourish
spectacularly and there are times when it can fail miserably. Consequently, it is the
responsibility of a nation s central bank to manage these fluctuations through
conducting effective monetary policy. The following paper will assume the
perspective of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and critically analyze the past,
present, and future of the Australian economy while considering specific sectors.
With a GDP of over $1 trillion USD, the Australian economy is among the largest in
the world (Cornett and Saunders, 2014). Australia is trading partners with the United
States, China, and Japan, but their economic ties are mainly centered in the Pacific
Rim. Exports are crucial to the country s GDP and this has created problems
regarding sustainability in the Australian economy. The Australian economy is reliant
on three key sectors: services, housing, and mining. The services sector employs the
largest percentages of Australians around 80 percent and is responsible for
approximately 70 percent of the country s GDP (Australian Bureau of Statistics,
2010). With jobs in a variety of specific industries, this sector drives the success of the
Australian economy. The housing sector is experiencing unprecedented growth
leading to concerns over a potential asset bubble. An increase in the amount
Good Timing Is A Team
Discuss what you are learning from a team that you are currently leading, or to
which you belong Leading a team is not based on the leader but also the team
members, every team member has a role to play and every team member brings
something to the table. In a team one thing that someone learns is that setting goals
is an important aspect, goals and deadlines are important factors that have to be set
before any projects are started. Discipline of every team member is what will
determine the success of a team; discipline involves setting timelines and ensuring
they are achieved. Involving every member is important in order to ensure that the
team is working towards the vision of the team and no one is lagging behind. Good
timing is a plus in leadership, timing is an important factor in team leadership, and it
assures leadership helps a team rather than distracts members. Good timing means
taking action to assist a team when the team is ready to receive and use the help
that it is being offered. Bad timing is something many people suffer from but they
do not understand the intensity of bad timing, it involves failing to act when one is
required to assist effectively. Timing is divided into two categories and the first
category is based on getting ready for circumstances that are predictable. Connie
Gersick says that in this timing, groups develop distinctive approaches towards tasks
as soon as it is started hold on to the approach until halfway before the deadline and

An Electronic Health Record ( Ehr )

Online Brand Engagement Is Different From Offline...
Online brand engagement is qualitatively different from offline engagement as the
nature of the customer s interactions with a brand, company and other customers are
different on the internet (Chak 2003). Verhoef et al. (2010) support that customer
engagement consists of multiple online behaviors as blogging, customer ratings and e
word of mouth. Furthermore, they state that customer engagementis affected by firm
initiatives, customer characteristics, and environmental/contextual factors (Verhoef et
al., 2010).
According to Sashi (2012) customer engagement is a topic that has had an emerging
interest during the last years, based on the development of Internet and the new tools
that have emerged with it Web 2.0 (Sashi, 2012). Due to the increasingly networking
society customers can easily interact with other customers and this non transactional
customer behavior has become more important for companies when developing their
strategies (Verhoef et al., 2010). Hollebeek et al. (2014) and van Doorn et al. (2010)
mention how important the understanding of online brand engagement is in the social
media platforms as well as recognizing the opportunities for brand to extract value
from their followers. Van Doorn (2010) supports also, that it is important for
companies to fully understand the impact of customer brand engagement since the
digital world involves a broad audience with immediacy breadth.
To be more precise, social networks are communities where people are able to
Essay on the Evils of Capitalism Exposed in Catch-22
Evils of Capitalism Exposed in Catch 22
That s some catch, that Catch 22 (47). Some catch indeed, for Catch 22 is the best
there is (47). A strange paradox preventing men from being grounded under any
circumstances, Catch 22 eventually evolves into a justification for doing virtually
anything. After all, it says [anyone] can do anything [that] we can t stop them from
doing (416). A less obviously stated, but equally powerful, validation for one s
actions is the guarantee of profit. It [is] odd how many wrongs leaving money
[seems] to right (418), for the promise or presence of some form of profit, rights
even the wrongs warranted by Catch 22. Milo Minderbinder takes full advantage of
this powerful reasoning and uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown through the donation of planes decorated with flamboyant squadron
emblems illustrating such laudable ideals as Courage, Might, Justice, Truth, Liberty,
Love, Honor and Patriotism (259) to help the propagation of the business venture.
These emblems, however, are soon covered with a double coat of flat white and
replaced in garish purple with the stenciled name M M ENTERPRISES, FINE
FRUITS AND PRODUCE (259). Thus, the bruise that is capitalism rests upon a
façade of new age mammonism while replacing genuine American ideals.
The novel proceeds to show that this free enterprise doesn t simply overtake America,
but that it also corrupts and destroys it. To protect his syndicate, or, rather, to protect
his potential to make more money, Milo lands two contracts with the Germans, both
to bomb his own men. The victims of these attacks aren t of concern, however, as
they are dispensable and, like the dead man in Yossarian s tent, so miniscule that they
are faceless, without voice, name, or identity. Since the tremendous profit (266) is
enough to reimburse the government for all the destroyed people and property and
then some (266), the victims die unwept and unsung.
Milo s very appearance suggests some sort of iniquity through its crooked and
misplaced features. His eyes are disunited, the separated halves [of his moustache]
never match (66), his nose is always pointing away from where the rest of him is
looking (66), and the color of his
Anastasia The Last Grand Duchess Essay
My book,Anastasia: The Last Grand Duchess, by Carolyn Meyer, follows the life
of Anastasia Nikolavena Romanov through her fictional diary from 1914 1918,
the year she died. Anastasia s father was Tsar Nicolas II, the absolute ruler of
Russia. The main parts of this book were World War I and When the family was
under arrest. At the begining of the book, the Romanov children basically lived in
a bubble. they did not interact very much with people outside their palaces.
towards the middle of the book there bubble pops and they realize not everyone
likes them. The fictional diary shows Anastasia s personality and what life was like
inside the royal family. Anastasia was a wealthy and privileged girl. She and her
siblings had a private island on a private lake in the park by their palace.every winter

  • 3. Grand Theft Auto V Drug Uses Media Analysis When Grand Theft Auto V was released in 2013, it was met with critical acclaim and commercial success. The reason for this is easy to understand: players love the heists, murders, and drug activity the GTA franchise has become known for; and Grand Theft Auto V is no exception to this rule. Rockstar, the game developer of the series, have increased drug s role within the game. This is the first time we have seen some drugs be directly incorporated into the plot. Among many others, marijuana is one of the more common used drugs in the game. Two of the main protagonists, Michael and Franklin, can openly smoke marijuana at their homes. In addition to this, buying out a beachside medical marijuana shop is a positive move... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Franklin lights his bong, the screen immediately becomes slightly blurred. You no longer have control over Franklin, and he will start to talk to himself slowly. While Rockstar developed a few different scripts for what Franklin says when he is high, it is usually along the lines of him noting how relaxed he feels. You regain control usually around an hour after in GTA time, or about two minutes in real time. Smoking marijuana in real life can usually result in a two hour high, though many factors can affect that number. GTA is not realistic in this sense; one can expect Rockstar wanted to make it a quick high to give the player more time to explore other areas of the game. While blurred vision is not a symptom of being high, slowed reaction time and dizziness are, which would explain Franklin s slow movements and uncontrolled motor skills while driving. For example, our textbook shows that slowing of cognitive performance is a symptom of marijuana usage, even in regular users (Ksir and Hart, 2015, p.359). While Grand Theft Auto may stretch the effects of marijuana usage to benefit the player, it also includes many symptoms found in the real world. Grand Theft Auto is set in the city of Los Santos, a fictional version of Los Angeles. California is generally a progressive state when it comes to marijuana, and this is carried over into the game. With the
  • 4. The Incident Command System Essay Emergency services face vast difficulties in the operations field when handling emergency situations, whether it comes from handling a minor accident to a catastrophic catastrophy. Many of the difficulties do not come from the actual incident, but instead they arise from forming a rescue team containing different agencies and people. For the benefit off all individuals participating, it is imperative that there be a unified command structure in place to effectively coordinate and oversee the tasks that need to be accomplished. The need of a unified command was seen from the hardships faced in incidents, bringing forth the development of the Incident Command Systemthat was designed to be used in an array of conditions, to bring all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Directly receiving directions from the Incident Commander as well as reporting to the Command Staff are sections that oversee, plan, and assemble the necessary resources to carry out the Incident Action Plan passed down from the Command Staff. The Operations Section is managed by the Operations Section Chief who oversees all tactical operations at the incident. Deputies can then be appointed underneath the Operations Section Chief to control different Branches of operations in order to keep the span of control in scale. Ideally one individual should only control five other individuals on scene. As resources grow, the span of control can be reduced through the implementation of Divisions and Groups. Divisions can be used if the need arises to slit operations into geographical locations. This allows for the Operations Section Chief to pass on vital information to crews in a specific location. These divisions may simply be a quadrant of a structure, as well as a large area. It enables for all Divisions to communicate and work together, even through the use of different methods. Groups can then be implemented to further break down Divisions into smaller more manageable resources. In each geographical location, the ability to control law

  • 8. Essay on Collapse Final Collapse Final Question One In his book Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, Jared Diamond outlines five factors that may lead to a societal collapse: climate change, hostile neighbors, loss of trading partners, environmental damage, and a society s response to its problems. The climate change Diamond is talking about here refers to natural fluctuations in weather; fifty years of great weather can lead to a population boom, but followed by fifty years of bad weather it can lead to collapse caused by lack of food. Before things were written down, word of mouth was how information got passed down; there is a time limit to living memory and a society could forget that the climate of the place they inhabited didn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of these factors, with the exception of the introduction of alien species, are rooted in overpopulation relative to the capacity of the environment. According to Diamond, there are two methods to prevent collapse; the bottom up method and the top down method. The Bottom up method is most effective in small societies where everyone knows and is accountable to their neighbors. This allows for the community to create and implement a solution to its own issues. The Top down method is meant for bigger societies with bigger government, like the U.S. Unlike with the bottom up method, the people are not concerned with the well being of the entire group; they do not have an overview of the entire society. However, a ruler does, and also has the ability to impose rules and regulations on their society to preserve the environment for future generations. Societies that choose to implement these methods have a better success rate than those that do not. Also factored into the success of a society is the fragility of the environment, and choosing an economy to fit that environment. As discussed in class, Diamond uses the method of cherry picking to prove his theories. Basically, he picks and chooses which facts to include in his book to best support his theories. It is impossible for him to list all of the evidence for the collapse of a society
  • 9. Analysis Of The Movie Where The Boys Are While changing social attitudes toward female sexuality and premarital sex are in part responsibility for the changing portrayals of the women in Where the Boys Are and Where the Boys Are 84, an evolution of industry policy is also a major factor. One element that greatly influence the 1960 s version of the filmis the Production Code. The Production Code, also known as the Hay s Code for its creator, was a set of rules and regulations governing motion picture censorship created by the Motion Picture Products and Distributors of America (MPPDA) (Pollard 2009). From 1934 to 1968, films had to be approved by the MPPDA to be shown in mainstream theaters. At its most simple the code required that correct standards of life, subject only the requirements of drama and entertainment shall be presented (Pollard 2009). However, despite these restriction, films still found ways to speak about forbidden topics. Instead of being blatantly discussed, sexuality was often alluded to (Stern and Brown 2008).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This restriction can be seen in the narrative progression of Where the Boys Are. While the film is able to imply a promiscuous character in Melanie, she is forced to suffered through implied date rape and a suicide attempt. Even as the code began to loosen in the mid 1960s, teen sexuality was still portrayed in an idealistic manner. Beach films, a popular teen genre in the late 1950s and early 1960s, that included the original Where the Boys Are, were praised for lots of flesh but no sex...virginity prevails (Stern and Brown

Income Statements Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows Financial statements are very important for decision makers in the business world. They inform the firm s owners, lenders and managers of the performance of the company and their employees. Standardized financial statements make for financial transparency between all businesses and sectors of business. Financial statements are important to companies not only to measure performance but to obtain capital through debt and equity. The main financial statements used by all companies, private and public, are the balance sheet, income statement (profit and loss statement), and statement of cash flows. Companies also use financial ratios to determine if they are performing to standards and are determine if they are increasing revenues sufficiently with the amount of expenses and debt taken on. Income Statement The income statement measures the flow of business activity by comparing revenues to the expenses over a period of time, as opposed to the momentary status of the business at a point in time (Brian P. Brinig, 2011). The income statement is important because it lists the amount of expenses that were incurred to create the revenues of the company. The biggest typical expenses for a company are the cost of goods sold, advertising and promotion, depreciation, wages and salaries, and rent. Balance Sheet A balance sheet lists assets, liabilities and equity of a business at a single point in

As per his communication style, he is able to perform effectively in individual communication. However, in case of mass audience, he is unable to perform accordingly. The reason behind performing weak in front of a mass audience is his nervousness. In this context, he is able to manage in hiding his nervousness while delivering speech. Apart from that, communicationstyle is not enough to create strong impact over the listeners. The individual should also have a prompt communication skill for attracting the audience towards the viewpoint. In case of Tim Cook, he is not that active with his physical gesture while addressing a mass audience (Schriver, 2012). As opined by (Hawkins Fillion, 2012), communication style of Tim Cook can be more effective by considering some activities. The activities such as improving presentation and body language while communicating. Apart from that, a prompt decision should be delivered with sufficient energy. Rate of speech of Cook is very low, which probably prevents him from presenting his own statement. On the other hand, Arnold (2014) opposed that appearance of Cook is very formal, which is not feasible with the agenda of Steve Jobs. Jobs use to maintain his signature turtleneck and jeans. It is where mothers bring their children knowing the calm, cool waves will allow their young to experience all the joy a beach can provide. I had been there many of times in my short but happy life. At the time I had just been faced with all the excitement that comes with celebrating a birthday; I was now the big 5 years old. I thought I was ready to take on the world, sadly, I was unaware of all the seemingly innocent dangers out there in the world. My familyand I were planning a trip to Mothers Beach trying to reminisce in all the memories we had of Long Beach. In a couple days, we would be moving half way across the U.S. to Tulsa, Oklahoma making this our last trip to our beloved and special place. It would be a break from all of the hectic and assiduous process of packing up our entire house. My dad helped my mom load up our white mini van with everything we needed: towels, sunscreen for our pale as can be skin, and more beach toys than anyone could ever possibly need; we were ready to conquer the beach. We said, goodbye to our dad who was making his way out the door to go to work and started out our 15 minute journey to Mother s Beach on Pacific Coast Highway anticipating the contentment this adventure would bring. My oldest sister, Amanda was sitting in the front seat next to my mom. My other sister, Shannon and I were in the 2nd row. Shannon and I were lightly kicking Manda s seat, tormenting her like any annoying

They are formed during ageing in the temperature range between 400 and 600oC after the steels had been solution annealed in the austenitic phase and air cooled which results in a martensitic microstructure. Over the past half century, two major types of maraging steels have been developed, the 18Ni maraging steels and the cobalt free maraging steels. The Standard maraging steels contain 18% Ni, 8% Co, 5% Mo and 0.4% Ti. But Ni, Co and Mo are very expensive strategic alloying elements as cobalt reaches to levels as high as 8 to 13%. This keeps the steels rather expensive, preventing wider selection and application, but with maximum strength levels reaching 2400 MPa, accompanied by good toughness and ductility. Therefore, developing cobalt free maraging steel with reduced quantities of expensive alloying elements to lower the production cost has been an important direction of maraging steels research. Over the past two decades, enormous advances have been achieved in the development of cobalt free maraging steels to high strength levels with Ni and Ti as the major precipitation hardening phase in cobalt free maraging steels. To overcome this problem, titanium was used as one of the primary strengthening element replacing Co in steels, and to overcome the problem of retained

She hardly did any work and usually solved her problems by having her head in the clouds and imagining a wonderland for herself. Sarcasm was one of her finest values and more than once she was caught taking the shortcut for almost everything. However, with all these flaws she had, she made them up by being the bright, sarcastic and carefree girl that her family knew her for all her life, and even in her final moments. Linn was a dramatic, imaginative, energetic, and very expressive throughout her life. Ever since she was a baby she has confused but amused her family with her little ideas, plans, and stories that she would come up with in merely five seconds. Most times her stories would take a drastic turn, as she liked it, and it would be turn to a cockroach getting squished to her stuffed animals wanting to kill her if she didn t sleep with them. She had a lot of ideas in her head when she was little, which made her into the imaginative women her family has grown to love her for. Ethanol And Alternative Sources Of Energy Abstract Due to energy and environmental concerns, producing fuels from renewable energy sources has seen advancements, especially through collecting biofuels produced from microbes. Many of the biofuels produced from microbes are done so by different pathways in order to generate fatty acid branched chain esters (FABCEs) and branched fatty acid branched chain esters (BFABCEs), which are promising isopentenols. These can be produced via multiple pathways, the leucine and valine pathway as well as the fatty acid pathway. Another and main source pathway producing biofuels, which produces isopentyl diphosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl dipho sphate (DMAPP), are the 2 methyl (D) erythritol 4 phosphate (MEP) and mevalonate dependent (MVA)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is proof that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that have a lesser negative impact that can sustain the energy demands that we have today. Currently, as seen in the table, microbes have been proven to produce ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen, which are all sources that can be used for producing renewable fuels. One of the various types of ethanol produced are C5 alcohols also referred to as isopentenols and other 5 branched carbon alcohols. As Connor and Liao suggest Higher chain alcohols (C3 C5) contain a high energy density, and are compatible with the current infrastructure as they are less hygroscopic. These alcohols (iso propanol, 1 propanol, 1 butanol, isobutanol, 3 methyl 1 butanol, 2 methyl 1 butanol, isopentenol) can be blended with gasoline and also have potential to be used as replacements, as 1 butanol has already been shown to perform well in conventional gasoline engines (Connor; Liao, 2009). There is some controversy about how current biofuels are not efficient at low temperature; however, FABCEs and BFABCEs have low freezing points, which can allow for the biofuel to have greater performance (Tao et. al, 2015). As previously mentioned, isopentenols have properties, which mirror those of octane and

This study was based on studying patterns of behaviours on smoking policies but the study mostly aimed to gain perspectives from a variety of individuals. Ethnographic method is great for the study in the fact that it can be used to include behavioural and cognitive perspectives, which in this case the study focused on observing behaviours of smoking and if the policies were being followed and also included the perspectives on the new smoke free policies. My first impression of the Fortune Theatre was; it was a very old Victorian building, very small and slightly ragged. Upon entering it felt very cramped and made you feel claustrophobic. This was effective as it was a very overpowering image, which embraces the audience as it is the first scary moment of the play. The other image was of the house in which the Woman in Black haunts. It gives you a mental representation of what the building would look like. Upon seeing this building, it was obvious a catastrophe was immanent. The lighting also represented where they were. For instance the actors were on a train and the windows of another train passed. This made you jump and started a continuous pattern of many frights to come. Sometimes the lack of lighting built up the atmosphere. At one time the stage was dark until the actor lit a match which illuminated his face. The effect of this was astonishing, such a simple thing as a match built up the scene immediately. The match was very effective because it was less bright than a spotlight and would not show off the surroundings. A torch was also used in the same way as the match but was just as effective as it showed a specific area. After seeing this used I realised how effective low light can be to create suspense and confusion. Sometimes the light came as a relief for the audience. In the first half of the play whenever there was a scary part normal lighting would come in to effect and give the audience relief from the intenseness. This almost gave the audience

He argues that he stole things not because he admired them; instead, he enjoyed the feeling of committing crime and being evil. He and his friends sneaked into the vineyard to steal pears, and they throw them to pigs; they did this merely because they enjoyed the excitement of doing things that were not allowed. Augustine argues that the good spiritual things exist in the world because God creates them; if a person aims to acquire them, he has to obey the law and cannot apart from God. However, the world also has attractiveness because of the beauty of inferior things. The motivation for a crime is that they believe those inferior objects are more attractive, compared with God s giving. The pears that Augustine and his friend stole was beautiful, tasty, and could bring them true happiness, but this happiness was not what they were seeking for. Augustine wants to figure out the reason he acts in this way. He discussed that every desire no matter good or bad is actually the desire to be like God. For instance, pride relates to being noble, and God has the highest status among everything; curiosity represents the ambition to acquire the knowledge, and God is the most intelligent and wise. On the contrary, ignorance and stupidity derives from simplicity and innocence; however, there is no doubt that God consists the most simplicity and blamelessness. Idleness shows a desire to obtain quiet life, yet God keeps stable and unchanging forever. Therefore, Augustine concludes that all acts, including sinful ones, that move away from God s perfection actually seeks to return to

Although much of his life is unknown, he is still praised two centuries later for his influence on English literature. Despite the praise that he gets for his works, much controversy has arisen over the authorship of his written work. Shakespeare s plays have stood the test of time but their authorship has been questioned. This question has been disputed for many years between adamant scholars who have different opinions and theories on the matter. Some scholars believe that Shakespeare wrote his plays, some believe another play writer wrote the plays and used his name as a pseudonym, and others contest that there were additional contributors to the texts. Shakespeare s credibility came to be questioned because his lower class origins and limited education seem to be inconsistent with the knowledge, culture and language that is demonstrated in the works that he is so well known for. The question of authorship in Shakespeare plays examines the methodology for authorship studies and changes in linguistics over time (pg 4). During his time, William Shakespeare was never questioned on whether or not his plays were written by him. It wasn t until many years after he died that this controversy arose in the works of many opinionated scholars. It has since been a topic of discussion throughout various scholarly articles, all demonstrating a different stance

The rise of technology has unfolded into the betterment of many advances in the industry. However, it is no surprise that these advances have also caused society into depending so much on technology. Author Sherry Turkle, argued that we as a society have distanced ourselves from one another; she discusses her observations drawn from humanbeings and their interaction with social machines. To begin with, the setting is a vast room in the palace of King Philip Quaternary and Queen Mariana, parents of the five years old infant Margharita, who is the focus of the picture. She is presented by her housemaid (Meninas) and accompanied by a dog, a midget, and a dwarf. • 48. Analysis Of The Film The Flies By F. Scott Fitzgerald Artistically speaking, this film is beautiful. There was a lot of thought put into every detail from the actors to the camera shots. The film seems to flow in beautiful manner from one scene to the next. One piece of art in the film is the use of symbols. Each symbol is delicately placed in order to make sense to any viewers that can pick up on them. One symbol is Nick s obsession with his Peace Lily. It represents his obsession with the job. It is the only other thing he cares for because its needs are simple and by the books. When he breaks it, it is supposed to symbolize his change of heart; that somebody has taken the place of the lily. Another symbol in the filmis the number 3. There are 3 murders that take place before people believe Nicholas. There are 3 people Nick tries to talk to in order to get out of being sent to Sanford. Many lines are repeated 3 times over. This could be in reference to fairytales always using the number 3, since this plot seems far fetched like a fairytale. However, it could also be in reference to the trilogy of films that Wright and Pegg made together. Then, there is the swan symbol. Swans typically symbolize grace, beauty, and peace. In the film, though, the swans symbolize an overbearing distraction. Nicholas is constantly surrounded by them in the hotel he stays at, which is rightly called The Swan Hotel . He is also charged with the task of catching an escaped swan. This causes him to miss many chances to catch the perpetrators of

There are times when an economy can flourish spectacularly and there are times when it can fail miserably. Consequently, it is the responsibility of a nation s central bank to manage these fluctuations through conducting effective monetary policy. The following paper will assume the perspective of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and critically analyze the past, present, and future of the Australian economy while considering specific sectors. The housing sector is experiencing unprecedented growth leading to concerns over a potential asset bubble. An increase in the amount

Good Timing Is A Team Discuss what you are learning from a team that you are currently leading, or to which you belong Leading a team is not based on the leader but also the team members, every team member has a role to play and every team member brings something to the table. In a team one thing that someone learns is that setting goals is an important aspect, goals and deadlines are important factors that have to be set before any projects are started. Discipline of every team member is what will determine the success of a team; discipline involves setting timelines and ensuring they are achieved. Involving every member is important in order to ensure that the team is working towards the vision of the team and no one is lagging behind. Good timing is a plus in leadership, timing is an important factor in team leadership, and it assures leadership helps a team rather than distracts members. Good timing means taking action to assist a team when the team is ready to receive and use the help that it is being offered. Bad timing is something many people suffer from but they do not understand the intensity of bad timing, it involves failing to act when one is required to assist effectively. Timing is divided into two categories and the first category is based on getting ready for circumstances that are predictable. Connie Gersick says that in this timing, groups develop distinctive approaches towards tasks as soon as it is started hold on to the approach until halfway before the deadline and then

Online brand engagement is qualitatively different from offline engagement as the nature of the customer s interactions with a brand, company and other customers are different on the internet (Chak 2003).
