Examples Of Corporate Social Responsibility In A
Christmas...
Based on the movie A Christmas Carol 2009 , issue that we found that relevant to the
business ethic is the corporate social irresponsibility (CSI). Corporate social
irresponsibility (CSI) refers to the dark side, as it investigates the wrongful and
damaging business decisions that managers might take. Corporate social
irresponsibility to concepts such as corporate culpability and undesirability and
irresponsibility, in its various forms such as corruption, bribery, environmental
degradation, and social injustice, is most frequently found in poorer regions, those
with fewer social resources or educational opportunities (Sanchez‐Runde et al.,
2013, p. 690). Because of corporate social irresponsibility, the business performance
decline, customer dissatisfaction and low profitability will be happen. In the
beginning, we found that the unethical issue is that the ignorance of legal
responsibilities. This mean that the business ignore the laws and regulations that all
firms that are expected to abide by as they perform their daily functions. In the
movie, Ebenezer Scroogeas a founder and employer of his business named

Beauty and the Media
Television is a rising source of entertainment and information. Many people use it
as a fashion guide a way to determine what is cool to do, or how one should look.
Even seemingly innocent shows such as America s Top Model, Family Guy or
One Tree Hill reflect a certain image of how a gendered individual should look or
act. Yet media would not have such a huge impact on society if the people did not
support it. Peers have a lot of influence over the people they come in contact with.
The desire to be loved and accepted often outweighs one s sense of respect for
themselves. In order to fit it, many people go to extreme lengths to make themselves
fit the ideal image society places on a gendered individual. Media s influence on

Media has an undeniable influence on the way that American s not only view each
other, but on the way they view themselves. Not only do people judge others by
how well they fit the image stereotype, but they apply it to themselves often with
negative results as there are few people who can say they fully fit the image of the
ideal individual. It is a proven fact that Large women are often treated very poorly
in Western society which results in women that are obsessed with thinness and
unhappy with their weight (Christine A. Smith 2). Society looks down on people
that are fat as it is taught to reflect a lack of self control. This results in a generation
of very insecure women who are unhappy with how much they weigh. The line on
what is fat and what isn t is actually even getting pushed forward, making even
those who aren t overweight feel the pressure to be thinner. America s new
personification of beauty is not human, but a doll Barbie Doll. This doll represents
all that American women want to be. Tall, thin, trim, and fine. This doll leaves no
room for different ethnicities, and so neither does society. Esexx Hemphill writes in
his poem, Soft Target, that Barbie never told Black girls/ they are beautiful./ She
never acknowledged/ their breathtaking Negritude (13 16). Barbie the spokesperson
of American society does not acknowledge the fact that anyone outside of her little
aura could be beautiful. Media s
Native American Indian Baskets
A Northeast Indian basket was traditionally made out of pounded ash splints or
braided sweetgrass. Northern Indian tribes like the Ojibwe and Dene craft birch
bark baskets. Also the Inuit even makes whale baleen baskets. The original diversity
of Native American basket styles is still very much evident today. Native American
Indian Baskets range from very simple to elaborate and colorful works of art that
took great skill to make. These baskets also involves secret techniques that have been
past down from generation to generation. Many Northeast Indians used sweet grass
and mostly anything could be used in basketweaving as long as it was bendable and
could form a shape. Pitch ( which comes from Pine Trees ), was commonly used

A New Energy Efficient Drives Using Permanent Magnet...
Nowadays, because of the fast evolution of electronic device, The recent
developments in permanent magnet materials, solid state devices and microelectronic
have led to the appearance of a new energy efficient drives using permanent magnet
brushless direct current motors (PMBLDCM). Brushless direct current (BLDC)
motors are preferred as small horsepower control motors because their efficiency is
very high, the operation is in a silent mode, has a compact form, contains high
precision, low maintenance, Its structure is simple, and has a large torque, etc. Hence,
it is extensively used in national defense, aerospace, robotics, industrial process
control, precision machine tools, automotive electronics, household appliances and
office automation [1]. However, the problems are found in these motor for variable
speed operation over last decades keeping technology growth in power
semiconductors, microprocessors, adjustable speed drivers control schemes and
permanent magnet brushless electric motor production have been joined to enable
reliable, cost effective solution for a wide area of adjustable speed applications. As
the name reveals, Brushless motors have no brushes and commutators. In direct
current (brushed) motors, the switching of current in coils of the armature is done
using the combination of brushes and commutators but in the brushless, the
commutation process is achieved with the help of electronic circuit, which diminishes
the mechanic losses and the efficiency
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Accomplishments
This paper will cover Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky s life, starting with his childhood
and education, and how he grew up with music and how he pursued his interests. It
will also cover how Tchaikovsky started his career as a composer and the musical
aspects of his adult life. His personal life and how it shaped the way we see his
music will also be included. The purpose of this written assignment is to discuss
Tchaikovsky s life and why his music is so influential and revolutionary. His
compositions that were notable for its intense emotions and melodic inspiration is the
reason Tchaikovsky is regarded as a master composer.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born on May 7, 1840 in a small industrial town,
Kamsko Votkinsk, Vyatka, Russia
. He is the second oldest out of his parent s six
surviving children. His mother, Alexandra, was half French and father worked as a
mine inspector and metal works manager. Tchaikovsky was immersed into music
early in his life. His father would often play music on a rudimentary record player,
called an orchestrion. As a young boy, he was musically precocious. However, his
parents discouraged because they thought it would be unhealthy, seeing as
Tchaikovsky was already a neurotically excitable child. For instance, his mother ...

Project Management Methodology For The Uk
Prince 2 is a widely recognised project management methodology in the UK. For
this task you are required to provide an overview of Prince 2, critically evaluate this
methodology and identify the types of project it is best suited to.
It is essential that you appropriately reference your work using APA referencing. In
the absence of appropriate referencing marks cannot be allocated for this task.
What is a project?
A project is a temporary endeavour designed to produce a unique product, service or
result with a defined beginning and end (usually time constrained, and often
constrained by funding or deliverables), undertaken to meet unique goals and
objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or added value
(Lewis R. Ireland ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Who developed it? It was originally developed by the CCTA, which is part of the
Office of Government Commerce, which in part is the UK Government.
The methodology can be described as a process based approach to project
management; which is built up of key elements such as inputs, outputs and objectives
of which are clearly identified through the project
PRINCE2 is considered very effective in its ability for monitoring progress as it
adopts a stage by stage approach, which we will come to expand on in the later parts
of this presentation.
By adopting PRINCE2, the entire project is driven by the requirements of the
business. This means that the project managers are encouraged to include suppliers
and customers to make the process inclusive
So is it just intended for IT projects? No. The original version of PRINCE was
intended for IT, but the scope expanded, and the PRINCE2 methodology is now
intended for all types of projects.

Overpopulation Essay
Every year, approximately six to eight million unwanted animals enter U.S.
shelters every year. Even worse, only half ever leave alive. Three to four million
cats and dogs are euthanized each year. Well over quarter million a month, 68,000
a week, 405 each hour, one every nine seconds. (Geyerr, 2015). Every local animal
shelter is filled to capacity with cats and dogs of all ages and breeds. Some are
surrendered, most are lost or abandoned, but all are unwanted. Euthanasia in animal
shelters is the leading cause of death of healthy dogs and cats. While the reasons for
this crisis are multi faceted, they re not complex. And, the problems that cause
animals to become homeless and end up in animal shelters are preventable. An...

There are other benefits to spaying and neutering your pet. Such as, increased
lifespan, health wellness, reduced roaming, improved mood, and reduced bad
behavior or marking (inappropriate urination). There are 30 to 40 million
community cats and only 2% are spayed or neutered. This population is estimated
to be responsible for up to 80% of the kittens born ito the u.s. each year. Community
cats are either friendly strays most likely lost or abandoned family pets or feral
(unsocialized and born in the wild). These cats usually live in colonies or
communities and do not have owners. (HSUS, n.d.) These communities are usually
sustained and fed by compassionate individuals, many of who participate in the Trap
Neuter Release (TNR) program which stops the breeding cycle and improves the
lives of community cats. These animals are humanely trapped and taken to a
veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and ear tipped. Ear tipping is the
universal sign that a cat has been altered and returned to their outdoor home.
There is a campaign targeted towards those who are looking for an animal, called
Adopt Don t Shop . This campaign educates people about the benefits of adopting
from a shelter instead of buying from a breeder. Breeders are another cause of the
overpopulation crisis. Not all breeders are the same, but all of them do it for personal
How Bowling for Columbine Is Bias Essay
Bowling for Columbine: A Narrow View of a Complicated Story
The Biased viewpoint of Michael Moore tears viewers away from the actual problem,
and perhaps even the film s intended message itself...
Alexi Heazle
The idea of a documentary being an artistic or even personalised expression of a
director is long gone, or so it seems in recent times. In Michael Moore s latest
documentary, Bowling for Columbine, he attempts to get across to viewers his, and
essentially only his point of view, on the topic of gun laws. Although what Moore is
trying to say is not necessarily wrong, he is at the same time not taking into account
the other side of the argument either; all he is trying to do, essentially is hypnotise
viewers into thinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many examples of Moore using incorrect information can be seen throughout the
film. When he puts emphasis on the arrogance of the gun rally which was held
eleven days after the shootings, to the naked eye, it may seem that the act, was
indeed ignorant and immoral, but this portrayal is not actually factual. The truth is
that: The Denver event was not an act related to Columbine, but an yearly
gathering, whose date and place had been set years in advance. At Denver, the
NRA called off all events (normally several days of committee meetings, sporting
events, dinners, and assemblies) save the annual members voting meeting that could
not be cancelled as the state law governing non profits made it mandatory that it be
held. (There was no way to change the place, since under NY law you must give 10
days advance notice of that to the members, there were more than 4,000,000 members
and Columbine occurred 11 days prior to the scheduled meeting).
This is just one of the numerous misconceptions portrayed. When this film won the
Oscar for best documentary, it was not actually supposed to have been able to win
in general terms, a documentary is a non fiction movie. Although it met the criteria
of being a movie, it was most certainly not non fiction. Another example is when
Heston s cold dead hands speech, which leads off Moore s idea of the Denver
meeting, did not
Infant Physical Environment
In the first rapidly changing year of their lives, they move from helpless dependence
to mobile independence; from communicating with cries and coos, to understanding
quite a vocabulary and using some words of their own. (Page 127)When planning a
physical environment for infants, there are a lot of key components to pay attention
to, one of them being an environment to nurture trust. Infants are very fragile and
emotional, it is important that we create a relationship of trust and security. In order
to do this, the same adult must be present daily. This adult needs to be aware of the
differences of each infant in the classroom. When the same caregiver is in the room
every day, they are creating a relationship with the infants. They learn... Show more

Toys should all be in good shape and not broken up. Windows and mirrors should
be shatterproof, electric outlets should have covers on them, all hazardous
substances should be locked up in cabinets, staff should be trained, and many
more! There is a ton of things that we need to pay attention to when creating a safe
and healthy physical environment for not only infants, but all children! As infants
begin to get older, they become mobile. The physical environment should be
spacious and appealing to promote mobility. There should be age appropriate toys
and carpets in the room. The reason the room needs to be spacious, is so that we
can let the babies play freely on the floor. We also need to remove anything from
the room that may be a safety hazard to the infants. The senses should also be
promoted in the environment. They should be able to express their senses while
being in the classroom; smelling things, looking or touching toys that are appealing,
listening to nursery music, and so on. Since babies are usually on the ground, there
tends to not be as much to discover, that s why we as teachers need to offer a variety
of things to help stimulate their

In the 1840 s Pittsburgh s growing working class wanted more entertainment. To
meet this demand there was an increase in construction of new music halls over the

the new Masonic Hall, and the Eagle Ice Cream Saloon that launched the career of
Stephen Foster. It all began with Stephen Foster. His songs Oh! Susanna and
Camptown Races remain fairly popular today. Foster is acknowledged as father of
American music. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970, and
he was also inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010.

Josie Carrie, and even Chris Kirkpatrick from N Sync. All these pop stars plus many,
many more were Pittsburgh natives.
A baby boomer generation of rock artists emerged from Pittsburgh during the 1960 s
and 1980 s. Wild Cherry had their smash hit Play that Funky Music. Other small
bands included Diamond Reo, The Granati Brothers, the Iron City Houserockers, and
the Silencers. These along with other bands released recordings on the major labels
and received airplay across the nation. The
Examples Of Classical And Operant Conditioning
Using different method, strategies and conditions in teaching has become very often
and vital because of its benefits and easiness. Behaviorism is also a condition that a
lot of teachers use while teaching. Behaviorism is the observing and studying of the
external behavior of a living being, and behavior is the response of an organism to a
stimuli. Under behaviorism, there will be may other ways that could be used in
teaching. And in this essay I will be talking about Classical and Operant conditioning.
In Classical conditioning learning something come by involuntary actions that will
have an impact on the things that happens before the stimuli is released. In this, first
an unconditional stimulus will be produced and then this stimulus will produces a

This is also an effective way that a teacher could apply to change the student s
behavior for good. (Anandamahto , 2015) Punishment come is two, punishment by
application (adding) and punishment by the removal of something pleasurable. The
example I mentioned above is an example of punishment by removal. Punishment
by application, which is the response when something unpleasable is added for
example making the students write the answers repeatedly when they got some
questions wrong from an exam. This way the students would try their best to score
good grades in exam to avoid writing something repeatedly for like fifty times. But
in my opinion, it is much better to use verbal reinforce on students because it will
really motivate the student when they are praised a lot and the students who hears
the praises would want to be praised and try their best to achieve a certain goal.

Curfews Keep Teens Out of Trouble Do curfews keep teenagers out of trouble? This
topic has always been on the cover page of today s newspaper headlines and a hot
topic that has been discussed by every family. What are curfews like? A curfewis a
time frame given by an authority like a parent or the government to teenagers
below 18 to be home before a certain period of time. So, ask yourself, do you think
that by implementing curfews into a teenager s life, he or she would keep out of

One other reason why curfews keep teens out of trouble is that curfews set by
parents are a way of showing that the parents care about the teen. (Boekestein,
2010) suggests that teens actually want to spend time with their parents but do not
know how to. A curfew is the brainchild of parents all over the world to make sure
that their teen is safe and also to be able to spend quality time with them while they
still can. Without the curfew, teens would spend all their time with their friends but
miss out on the most important people of all, which are their parents. Although it
might not seem that curfews are a way to spend time with the teen, it surely is.
According to (Boekestein, 2010), a teen said what all teens were trying to say, which
is they don t care about other things in life, they love their parents and would like to
spend more time with them than they normally do. A teen also said that he only talks
to his parents in the car or during dinner as their hectic schedule demands the parents
to be on their toes all the time. As (Boss, 2012) suggests, teens should have effective
communication skills to make sure that what they want and what their parents think
they want are the same. This could lead to extensions of curfews or even better
understanding of each other. It also helps in the long run as it improves the teen
parent relationship. Good
Types Of Business Organizations The Cardigans
There are three main types of business organizations the Cardigans can file their
home decor business as, one sole proprietorship, two partnerships and three
corporations. Sole proprietorship is the simplest form of business organization.
Usually in sole proprietorship one person has complete control of their
business;however, one assumes all liabilities. According to Miller (2013), The sole
proprietor is free to make any decision she or he wishes concerning the business
including whom to hire, when to take a vacation, and what kind of business to
pursue (Miller, 2013, p. 445). A major disadvantage of the sole proprietorship
concept is that a person has unlimited liability. Since sole proprietorship consist of

files for bankruptcy, or otherwise quits. This can mean a sudden and unexpected end
to a profitable business ( What Are the Disadvantages of Partnerships?, n.d.). Cora
and Caley can act with third parties on the behalf of the partnership which can hurt or

the partnership into unwanted agreements ( What Are the Disadvantages of

A corporation is owned by shareholders and these shareholders elect the members
of a board of directors to handle daily business operations. Shareholders are not

The Cotton Gin
The institution of slavery in the southern states of the United States of America was
primarily based on economics rather than some type of natural admiration of the
practice itself. When the Mason Dixon line was created in the 1760s, Eli Whitney s
revolutionary cotton gin, which would eventually set slavery in the South, had not
been created yet. However, there were still lines being drawn between the more
industrial based economy of the North and the more agricultural economy of the
South. Slavery shaped the economic backbone of the South, and as it became more
widespread after Eli Whitney s invention of the cotton gin, it became as strong as the
political and social foundation of Southern character as well. Although there were

This production led to an economic strength that made these states even more
determined to defend the right to practice slavery. Despite the freedoms demanded
in the Declaration of Independence and the freedoms reserved in the Constitution
and the Bill of Rights, such as Amendment X (Document 1), slavery was both
tolerated and classified in the Constitution. The South was also able to withstand
the growing number of revolts, rebellions, and northern political opposition that
was rising. Proclamations such as the Fugitive Slaves Law were established to
provide for the return of slaves who escaped from one state into another state or
territory, and the Underground Railroad became a serious threat to Southern
plantation owners who needed more slaves to maintain their economic power. The
Nat Turner revolt and the writings and speeches of the former slave Frederick
Douglass were contributors to the growing conflict, but the South defended their
claim to economic security through the practice of slavery until it became legally
impossible to do so after the Civil War. Frederick Douglass vividly described his
past years as a slave in the first of three autobiographies, Narrative of the Life of
Frederick Douglass, An American Slave, which was published in 1845. He later
wrote the two autobiographies, My Bondage and My Freedom, and The Life and
Times of Frederick Douglass, which mark his greatest contributions to southern
culture. In The Life and Times of Fredrick Douglass, he

John Silver, he matures into a heroic young man. Before the pirates enter Jim s life
he lives with his parents in a small secluded inn that they own and operate. Up to
this point he has lived a fairly sheltered life, completely devoid of adventure or
excitement. The beginning of Jim s pirate adventure is marked by the settling of

He takes Pew to the Inn to meet with Billy Bones. When Bones spots Pew he
becomes quite anxious. Pew passes a paper to Bones and leaves. When Bones
realizes that he has been given The Black Spot he is so distressed that he suffers a
fatal stroke. Even though Jim states that he never liked the captain much, he still
finds himself upset at his passing. He cries out for his mother s help. This
demonstrates that Jim is still just a child and is scared of the events he has
witnessed. Jim proceeds to tell his mother everything he has learned from the
pirates. They both become quite frightened and decide to leave the inn. They go to
the village to ask for help but no one wants to become involved in such hazardous
business. Jim and his mother head back to the inn alone to collect the money owed
by the captain. This is where the initial development of Jim s bravery begins. Jim
also becomes responsible when he takes care of his weary mother after escaping
the inn. Since the death of his father, Jim is the man of the house and must grow
into the role. He soon demonstrates his bravery again by taking the papers from
Bones s chest to Dr. Livesey. He stops letting events pass him by, instead becoming
an active participant in his life. This is an enormous step in becoming more mature.
When Dr. Livesey and Squire Trelawney realize that Jim has found a treasure map,
they decide to embark on a journey to collect the pirates plunder. Jim is

A Father Talking To His Son Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement: If this story had been a father talking to his son it would have
been a different conversion, because the father would have explained that men are
the sole providers for the family and to be family oriented.
The father would have told his son that men was the head of the household and that it
was the man s responsibility to provide all the needs for his family. This concept of
the man providing for the family began back in the caveman days when the male
would go out and gather firewood and invented the tools needed in order to kill wild
animals for food. The father would have also told his son that he would someday be
the unquestioned ruler of his own household one day and he would be expected to be
strong and to make

Cons Of Sweatshops
A sweatshop is defined by the US Department of Labor as a factory that violates 2
or more labor laws. Sweatshops often have poor working conditions, unfair wages,
unreasonable hours, child labor, and a lack of benefits for workers. Is this really the
way we should be treating other human beings? Many believe that those living in
impoverished countries are better off working in sweatshops than ravaging for trash
on the streets, while that may be true it is not an excuse for wealthy companies like
Walmart, H M, Forever 21, Adidas, Converse, Urban Outfitters, Zara, and Victoria s
Secret to take advantage of people by putting them through unsanitary and inhumane
working conditions with little pay.

Most of these people, who have families that they have to feed, spend their days
ravaging through the trash in the streets in search of plastic for which they get 5
cents a pound in order to get food for themselves and their families. While this may
be true, It gives rich powerful companies no excuse to mistreat and enslave their
factory workers in 3rd world countries. These companies have billions of dollars
and make millions yearly, but are not able to give their workers safer machines,
cleaner factories, or decent benefits let alone a decent pay. As the buyers and
customers, we have the power to impact and change these companies by how we use
our money. For example, if a significant amount of people stop buying a certain
product that we know comes from sweatshops and instead buy that same product but
produced humanely, companies will take notice and start using production companies
that treat their workers

Theories Of Bering Strait Theory
The bering strait theory is named after Vitus Bering. It is also known as the land
bridge theory as well, the theory takes places during the ice age it is said that the
waters of the Bering straits were frozen over and match up, making sea levels lower
which allowed the natives of North America to cross over from Asiavia Siberia. They
did not walk over ice they made a route. This is the origin of our fellow native
people. Many believe that the first people to populate the Americas migrated across
the Bering Land Bridge while tracking large game animal herds. Becoming the roots
of the bering straittheory. It s model of how migration started. Even today this shows
us how many have crossed america looking for something more alongside a greater
quality of life. The foundation of the bering strait theory, The roots of bering strait

Frankl Concentration Camp
Prior to World War II, Viktor Frankl was a somewhat successful therapist. Once the
war began however, he was sent off to an Auschwitz concentration camp. Everyone
in concentration camps had one wish, to stay alive (Frankl 15). Whether they tried
to get on the good side of the warden, or attempt an escape, everyone had a different
way to survive. Many prisoners died while at camps, but some of them who were
hopeful and courageous made it out. Inspired by these prisoners, Frankl created
logotherapy to help other find meaning in their own lives. Traveling by train to a
concentration camp, Viktor Frankl spent his last hours in his own clothes, and with
his own things. Upon arrival, he and his fellow prisoners were stripped of
everything; luggage, clothing, jewelry, and even the hair off their bodies. Frankl
lost the last piece of his life, a manuscript of his ideas that he had been working on
for quite some time (Frankl 23). No only did the prisoners lose everything, they had
to completely change the way they lived. They wore the same clothes for months,

All of these prisoners had a reason to get out of the camp. They had a relative to
see, or a study to continue, and that gave them the strength and bravery to make it
through their days. For Frankl, it was to re write a manuscript he lost when he first
came to camp. When he was liberated, he created his new theory of logohterapy.
Logo therapy is a psychotherapy based on meaning. (Frankl 104). It centers itself
around the future and what is in store for the patient. Unlike psychoanalysis, which
allow patients to wallow in their egotistical suffering, logptherapy requires its patients
to be strong. They have to listen to things they may not hear, and accept them for

Disadvantages Of Waiver Release
During the past two years, the number of lawsuits against recreation and
entertainment business venues has steadily risen. In today s struggling economy,
even the smallest incident can result in a lawsuit. As more people lose their jobs
and medical insurance benefits, they will turn to litigation to recover the costs for
injuries that may or may not have been the result of the venue s negligence. For
most recreational operations such as indoor climbing gyms, sports centers and
guides programs, the most utilized and required risk management tool in the
insurance industry is the waiver release and assumption of risk form that must be
signed by the participant. These forms are designed to provide two benefits: Transfer
responsibility of injuries and property damage from the insured to the participant
through the waiver release indemnification clause. Adult waiver release and
assumption of risk laws vary from state to state. A few states will not enforce
waivers, and many states have very strict interpretations of the waiver language, other
states are more tolerant in their interpretations. There has been momentum toward

the waiver and release procedure of any operation is to make sure that all
participants read and sign the waiver, and that the insured keeps the waivers for a

Comanche Indians Essay
COMANCHE INDIANS
The Comanches, exceptional horsemen who dominated the Southern Plains, played a
prominent role in Texas frontier history throughout much of the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries. Anthropological evidence indicates that they were originally a
mountain tribe, a branch of the Northern Shoshones, who roamed the Great Basin
region of the western United States as crudely equipped hunters and gatherers. Both
cultural and linguistic similarities confirm the Comanches Shoshone origins. The
Comanche language is derived from the Uto Aztecan linguistic family and is virtually
identical to the language of the Northern Shoshones. Sometime during the late
seventeenth century, the Comanches acquired horses, and that acquisition ... Show

As many as thirteen different, Comanche bands were identified during the historic
period, and most probably there were others that were never identified. However, five
major bands played important roles in recorded Comanche history.
The southernmost band was called Penateka, or quot;Honey Eaters. quot; Their
range extended from the Edwards Plateau to the headwaters of the Central Texas
rivers. Because of their location, the Penatekas played the most prominent role in
Texas history. North Of Penateka, country was the habitat of the band called
Nokoni, or quot; Those Who Turn Back. quot; The Nokonis roamed from the Cross
Timbers region of North Texas to the mountains of New Mexico. Two smaller bands,
the Tanima ( quot;Liver Eaters quot;) and the Tenawa ( quot; Those Who Stay
Downstream quot;), shared the range of the Nokonis. These three divisions are
sometimes referred to collectively as Middle Comanches. Still farther north was the
range of the Kotsotekas, or quot;Buffalo Eaters. quot; Their territory covered what is
now western Oklahoma, where they often camped along the Canadian River. The
northernmost band was known as the Yamparikas, or quot;Yap Eaters, quot; a name
derived from that of an edible root. Their range extended north to the Arkansas River.
The fifth major band, known as Quahadis ( Antelopes ), roamed the high plains of the

Christopher Marlowe s Dr. Faustus
Christopher Marlowe s Dr. Faustus Is Dr. Faustus Crazy or Sane?
Christopher Marlowe s play, Dr. Faustus, is the story of the struggle of one man
who is battling with himself over what he values most in life, and to what extent he
will go to obtain what he desires. The battles over the control of one s ego and what
a person values in their life are the two underlying struggles in this work. Faustus is a
very educated and high member of society, but he was born in a lower class and
has struggled all his life to be a wealthy person. He attains this opportunity to become
wealthy when he learns how to call upon Satan, and he makes a deal with the devil to
attain all the riches in life for his soul. Through out the play Faustus ... Show more

Then Faustus does repent, but the devil comes and is very angry with him, and he
begins to frighten Faustus for repenting to God. But Faustus begs for the devil to
forgive him and promises never to call upon the Lord or look unto heaven for help.
Nor will Faustus henceforth. Pardon him for this, and Fautus vows never to look to
heaven (II, ii, 101 102). This shows Faustus weak character, and that he is more
willing to attain worldly goods in the here and now, then to attain heavenly goods in
the after life.
This desire to have success and the low value in his soul allows the perfect
opportunity for Satan to bargain for his soul, and Mephostophilis, who must attract
as many souls as possible for Satan, works on his lack of self worth to attain his
soul. This exchange between Mephostophilis and Faustus is a match of wits and an
attempt to test the degree at which Faustus will follow Satan. When Mephostophilis
appears to Faustus after he has preformed the ritual to conjure up spirits, Faustus is
frightened. Yet there is a hint of pride that he was able to control the devil, which was
quickly erased by Mephostophilis. This devil played Faustus for information about
his desires, and kept getting him to talk without answering any of the questions that
he had about the arrangements of the deal. Mephostophilis would only give out the
answers Faustus wanted when the deal was completed. Mephostophilis won the battle
of wits because Faustus gave up all the
Benefits Mining Fracking Sand
The question propose stated, do you think mining fracking sand would support the
halakhah? Personally I don t think that the halakhah would support the idea of mining
fracking sand. There are many dangers into mining, and the side effects that come
with mining are very terrifying. However, there are also some benefits to mining
fracking sand. I just don t think the benefits are worth the risk mining fracking sand
proposes, and that s why I think the halakhah wouldn t support the idea of mining
fracking sand.
The first benefit to Mining fracking sand would be that it creates jobs. In order to
properly mind we would need to create roads, add train tracks, and need people to
actually do the mining. We would need to create roads because we just ... Show more

The land needed to mine isn t purchased by the city, or state, so there aren t any
roads or train tracks that make these areas accessible. That would mean putting in
roads would be very expensive. In a time where people are doing everything to get
taxes lower, this project isn t needed. It would be a waste of time considering how
harmful it would be to the environment, and we would take away someone s private
property. People enjoy their land and don t always want to give it up. Land has some
significant meaning to people, and they shouldn t be forced to forgo the land because
someone wants to mine. The halakhah supports not being selfish, but it does not
support stealing someone s land. Paying higher taxes and loosing private property can
put people into severe depression, and that s something the halakha does not support.
Overall, the morals of the Halakhah would not support the idea of mining fracking
sand. The Halakhah wants everyone to do the right thing, and that clearly is not
mining fracking sand. If we chose to mind fracking sand we would be taking away
some citizens private property that they worked hard for, the mining would pollute
our air and drinking water, and taxes would increase so miners could insert roads and
train tracks for the miners to get to the location. These are the big reason why the
halakhah would not support mining fracking sand, and to the best of my
understanding this is the
Collapse Jared Diamond
Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed shows Jared Diamond s five
point framework. Jared Diamond came up with five key elements that determine
whether a civilization collapses or succeeds. Many factors help decide whether a
society succeeds or not but Diamond narrowed it to five. The Mayans are the best
example of Diamond s framework because it clearly shows how environmental
problems, failure to adapt to those environmental problems, climate change, essential
trading partners, and neighbors caused this civilizationto collapse. The first of Jared
Diamond s five point framework is climate change, this contributed to the Mayans
collapsing. A big climate change in the Mayan civilization is drought and
hurricanes and its effects on the Mayans. Jared Diamond states rainfall in the Maya
homeland is unpredictably variable between years; some recent years have had three
or four times more rain than other years. Also, the timing of rainfall within the year
is somewhat unpredictable, so it can easily happen that farmers plant their crops in
anticipation of rain and then the rains do not come when expected. (Diamond 254).
This proves how the Mayans did not have a sure season that rainfall would come.
Sometimes it would be abundant and others it would be scarce. This affects... Show

The Mayans harmed their environment, by deforestation and erosion. Since the
Mayans deforested all the land, that caused erosion. The Mayans by deforesting the
land caused another problem for themselves. The Mayans would cut down trees to
use for fuel and construction. Another problem that arises because of a build up of
sediment is drought. Jared Diamond describes it as man made drought (Diamond
268) because the Mayans caused it themselves. The Mayans were not very smart to
think of the consequences deforestation would have, therefore, it contributed to the
civilization

Governments and Urban Policies
To manage an urban growing population, many governments endorse policies of
urban consolidation. These guidelines aim to slow external growth by uplifting the
development of medium density and high density housing within current urban areas.
By encouraging urban consolidation, governments hope to deliver people with a
higher excellence of life in the form of housing that is better suited to the
demographics of the population.
For example, many older couples and those without children prefer to live in
apartments, townhouses or villas rather than the traditional detached family home.
Ideally, this housing should be located where people live, work and play, so that
travel times and distances are reduced
The NSW government is implementing a range of strategies to slow the spread of
Sydney s urban sprawl. For example, it encourages Sydney s fifty three local
councils to adopt principles of urban consolation and promote developments that are
more compact. This is most commonly achieved through regulations governing
building codes and the zoning of land. Land can be zoned according to the desired
types and density of land use. Other indicates seek to take advantages of the large
inner city areas made available by the decline of traditional forms of the
redevelopment of Sydney s Pyrmont and darling harbour are two of the more notable
examples of this process. More recently, the state government has announced plans
for extensive redevelopments in Redfern as well. In these cases,
The New Deal Of A Big Depression Hit America
Question 1 It all started 1933, when a big depression hit America. Stocks dropped
more than 90% leaving people with nothing in their hands. Banks were accused of
extensive speculation and people believed something needs to be done to hold the
bankers back. At the same time, an individual by the name of Franklin Delano
Roosevelt became president of the United States of America. He believed that the
system has to be changed and dedicated his presidential era to regulation of the
financial sector. This approach became famous as The New Deal (Piereson, 2008,
May 15th). An important regulation document was the Glass Steagall Act, which
seperated the commerical banking business from the investment banking. Due to
speculation in investment banking parts, people with savings also lost their money,
since the whole bank went bankrupt. The new regulation framework was supposed
to avoid such scenarios in the future. In 1999, the act was repealed (Piereson, 2008,
May 15th). Another example is the Investment Company Act, which should protect
investors and public interests (Piereson, 2008, May 15th). New rules were
introduced in Roosevelts era on a constant basis, which are rather important even
today and form one of the pillars of modern credit and capital. Some of these rules
include: Deposit insurance Securities regulation Federal regulation of banks In
conclusion, it can be seen that investor protection started in the 30s and made

Grand Inquisitor Research Paper
Abstract: During the Inquisition, a reincarnated Christ was walking the streets. As he
began to heal the sick, a cardinal ordered to have him locked up. Later that day, the
Grand Inquisitor paid the reincarnated Jesus a visit but not to praise Him instead to
reprimand Him. The Grand Inquisitor scolds Jesusfor giving humankind freedom by
refusing the three temptations of the Devil. He believes humans are too weak to deal
with the burden of freedom so unhappiness is created. To counteract the unhappiness,
the Church assumes responsibility. In other words, the Church takes the earthly
authority that Jesus denied. That s why the Grand Inquisitor locks reincarnated
Christ up then asks him to leave because he doesn t want Jesus to ruin the authority...

Dostoevsky makes his opposing point to the Grand Inquisitors argument through

the Grand Inquisitor as an atheist tyrant; It s simple lust for power, for filthy earthly
gain, for domination something like a universal serfdom with them as masters that s
all they (Inquisitors) stand for. They don t even believe in God perhaps (Dostoevsky

freedom but that the Grand Inquisitor and the Church are wrong in creating and

The world s biggest diamond mining and marketing company, De Beers
Consolidated Mines of South Africa, announced in February 2000, that it will no

to a report by Partnership Africa Canada (P.A.C.), upwards of 50,000 [have been]

According to De Beers s, conflict diamonds are minded or stolen by rebels who are

Core Concert Dance
The CORE Concert Dance Company show presented the dance style of contemporary
with the addition to aerial choreography. The dancers presented many movements
through the use of their bodies that stemmed from choreography in ballet and modern
dance moves. With contemporary being my all time favorite style, the dancers
provided a sense of freedom, expression, and unpredictability in the ways they
articulated the movement of the body itself and the objects that were used. In many
of the different pieces that were shown, I noticed that many of the dancers
movements in the choreographyinvolved the torso. The use the torso enabled me to
capture the movement of relaxation that gave off a sense of fluidity and ease through
the transition of the next... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation,
dynamic play, and a deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression
and a sense of rhythmic movement. During the performance there were a lot of
joyousness and call and response in the choreography. The areas that contained
these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while
doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of
the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat
foot gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers
especially displayed body isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the
ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body movement
and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it
requires control and articulation of certain body parts. Contemporary dance can be
thought of as jazz derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always remain strict on
what the movement is supposed to be and how it supposed to be articulated. One of
the main differences between contemporary and jazz is that in jazz gravity is felt a
different way. In contemporary there is an urge to give into gravity such

looks on the inside. Her mother realizes that she is self conscious and wants to
look like an American girl. Amy s mother says that you may not look like an
American girl on the outside for Robert to like her, but if Robert really likes her,
he shouldn t care about appearances or how a girl looks, he should focus on
differences that s what makes a person unique as what her mother says to her
towards the end of the story. Also, Amy feels insecure about her culture while
inviting Robert s family over for dinner, Amy, your favorite, he said, offering me the
tender fish cheek. I wanted to disappear (Tan 2). This quote also shows that Amy is
insecure about her culture because, during dinner, Amy s mother hands her, her
favorite meal of the night. Amy likes the tender fish cheeks although Amy felt
insecure which led to embarrassment. Amy feels insecure because her family is
showing Robert what Amy s cultural foods are. Although, some traditions are
different than others, Amy s mom shows a good example of being different is
unique even though Amy is insecure about her culture. Amy feels insecure because
of how she looks , she wants to look like an American girl and also, her culture. Even

How Did Perseus Become King
Perseus, son of Zeus, destiny was not giving to him. Born In a chamber locked
away because Acrisius (his grandfather) was told Perseus would kill him. They
were kicked out the tower when Acrisius found out he was born, and put in a chest
to drift away at sea. Heres the summary on how young Perseus became king.
Perseus and his mother landed on the island of Seriphos, where Polydectes ruled.
His brother Dictys was a fisherman. He found the chest and freed them. By then
Perseus had grown up to be a strong young man. This is important because
Polydectes wanted to marry Danae (Perseus mother), but Perseus didn t allow it.
Because of these actions Perseus was banished until he could bring back the head of
Medusa. Therefore Perseus set

2014059013 The Transition and Opening up and Growth of the Service Sector of
China
Abstract
The objective of this paper is to show the transition of China from an economy
dominated by the manufacturing to a more stable economy dominated by services. In
recent years, many people were thinking about why the GDP (gross domestic
product) of China has drop drastically from 11% to 7%. Well, that is an intentional
cooling down that the country is doing to make the transition from industrial to
service sector also known as tertiary industry . Through many years, the industrial
sector was the one that contributed more to the GDP of the country; but now, China
is changing this to a more stable and sustainable economy by opening up its service
sector and the 12th Five Year Plan of China (2011 2015) is helping to accomplish
this task. In 2013, for the first time of the history the service sector overpass the
industrial sector in the contribution to the GDP.
Key words: Transition, Gross Domestic Product, Industrial Sector, Tertiary Industry,
and Sustainable Economy.
I.Introduction
Since 1978 when Deng Xiaoping took away the centrally planned economy and
introduced the capitalistic market reform, China has witnessed tremendous
transitions and growth. This tremendous growth lasted for 30 years. Between 1983
and 2013, the GDP of China has an annual grow of 10.2%. Also, China has
transformed from a sleeping rural, to a giant
Trust in Military Essay
TRUST IN THE MILITARY

morale and loyalty. Friendships are constructed over time through the innuendo of
mutual trust. Time is the only factor that gains trust and cannot be expected or
granted to. There are plenty of circumstances where the absence of trust was the
misnomer for failure in relationships. We can place trust at the highest point in the
pyramid of morals, but how do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The civilian populous security awareness increases when the military is present. When
every soldier takes his oath to the Constitution, we as soldiers accepted the
responsibility to protect and serve the people. The United States entrusts soldiers
with the power to use deadly force while respecting the sanctity of life at the same
time. Most people do not comprehend how vital trust is; it is at the same level as
faith. The absence of trust puts personal lives and jobs at risk. The Military places
trust in the civilian population when they contract them to aid the Soldiers on their
daily task and building most of their weaponry, vehicles, ships and aircraft. All
leadership should trust their subordinates when executing a task. Ensuring Soldiers
do their job while implementing military standards without supervision is
fundamental. Subordinates should trust us to make the sound judgments that will
bring them home to their loved ones. Knowing that we can count on each other
brings the confidence we need to stay focused on the mission, increasing abilities
to make right decisions in stressful situations where a second can determine life or
death on the battlefield. Learning how to let go could seemingly be one of the
hardest skills to master. If leaders don t trust their subordinates it can be interpreted
as micro management, these leaders will do all the work. Leaving no room for their
subordinates to evolve, as leaders causing a negative

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Media has an undeniable influence on the way that American s not only view each other, but on the way they view themselves. Not only do people judge others by how well they fit the image stereotype, but they apply it to themselves often with negative results as there are few people who can say they fully fit the image of the ideal individual. It is a proven fact that Large women are often treated very poorly in Western society which results in women that are obsessed with thinness and unhappy with their weight (Christine A. Smith 2). Society looks down on people that are fat as it is taught to reflect a lack of self control. This results in a generation of very insecure women who are unhappy with how much they weigh. Alexi Heazle The idea of a documentary being an artistic or even personalised expression of a director is long gone, or so it seems in recent times. In Michael Moore s latest documentary, Bowling for Columbine, he attempts to get across to viewers his, and essentially only his point of view, on the topic of gun laws. Although what Moore is trying to say is not necessarily wrong, he is at the same time not taking into account the other side of the argument either; all he is trying to do, essentially is hypnotise viewers into thinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many examples of Moore using incorrect information can be seen throughout the film. When he puts emphasis on the arrogance of the gun rally which was held eleven days after the shootings, to the naked eye, it may seem that the act, was indeed ignorant and immoral, but this portrayal is not actually factual. The truth is that: The Denver event was not an act related to Columbine, but an yearly gathering, whose date and place had been set years in advance. At Denver, the NRA called off all events (normally several days of committee meetings, sporting events, dinners, and assemblies) save the annual members voting meeting that could not be cancelled as the state law governing non profits made it mandatory that it be held. (There was no way to change the place, since under NY law you must give 10 days advance notice of that to the members, there were more than 4,000,000 members and Columbine occurred 11 days prior to the scheduled meeting). This is just one of the numerous misconceptions portrayed. When this film won the Oscar for best documentary, it was not actually supposed to have been able to win in general terms, a documentary is a non fiction movie. Although it met the criteria of being a movie, it was most certainly not non fiction. Another example is when Heston s cold dead hands speech, which leads off Moore s idea of the Denver meeting, did not

A curfew is the brainchild of parents all over the world to make sure that their teen is safe and also to be able to spend quality time with them while they still can. Without the curfew, teens would spend all their time with their friends but miss out on the most important people of all, which are their parents. Sweatshops often have poor working conditions, unfair wages, unreasonable hours, child labor, and a lack of benefits for workers. Is this really the way we should be treating other human beings? Many believe that those living in impoverished countries are better off working in sweatshops than ravaging for trash on the streets, while that may be true it is not an excuse for wealthy companies like Walmart, H M, Forever 21, Adidas, Converse, Urban Outfitters, Zara, and Victoria s Secret to take advantage of people by putting them through unsanitary and inhumane working conditions with little pay. These companies have billions of dollars and make millions yearly, but are not able to give their workers safer machines, cleaner factories, or decent benefits let alone a decent pay. As the buyers and customers, we have the power to impact and change these companies by how we use our money. Everyone in concentration camps had one wish, to stay alive (Frankl 15). Whether they tried to get on the good side of the warden, or attempt an escape, everyone had a different way to survive. Many prisoners died while at camps, but some of them who were hopeful and courageous made it out. Inspired by these prisoners, Frankl created logotherapy to help other find meaning in their own lives. Traveling by train to a concentration camp, Viktor Frankl spent his last hours in his own clothes, and with his own things. Upon arrival, he and his fellow prisoners were stripped of everything; luggage, clothing, jewelry, and even the hair off their bodies. Frankl lost the last piece of his life, a manuscript of his ideas that he had been working on for quite some time (Frankl 23). In today s struggling economy, even the smallest incident can result in a lawsuit. Christopher Marlowe s play, Dr. Faustus, is the story of the struggle of one man who is battling with himself over what he values most in life, and to what extent he will go to obtain what he desires. The battles over the control of one s ego and what a person values in their life are the two underlying struggles in this work. Faustus is a very educated and high member of society, but he was born in a lower class and has struggled all his life to be a wealthy person. Pardon him for this, and Fautus vows never to look to heaven (II, ii, 101 102). This shows Faustus weak character, and that he is more willing to attain worldly goods in the here and now, then to attain heavenly goods in the after life. It would be a waste of time considering how harmful it would be to the environment, and we would take away someone s private property. People enjoy their land and don t always want to give it up. Land has some significant meaning to people, and they shouldn t be forced to forgo the land because someone wants to mine. Jared Diamond came up with five key elements that determine whether a civilization collapses or succeeds. Many factors help decide whether a society succeeds or not but Diamond narrowed it to five. The Mayans are the best example of Diamond s framework because it clearly shows how environmental problems, failure to adapt to those environmental problems, climate change, essential trading partners, and neighbors caused this civilizationto collapse. The first of Jared Diamond s five point framework is climate change, this contributed to the Mayans collapsing. A big climate change in the Mayan civilization is drought and hurricanes and its effects on the Mayans. Jared Diamond states rainfall in the Maya homeland is unpredictably variable between years; some recent years have had three or four times more rain than other years. Also, the timing of rainfall within the year is somewhat unpredictable, so it can easily happen that farmers plant their crops in anticipation of rain and then the rains do not come when expected. Banks were accused of extensive speculation and people believed something needs to be done to hold the bankers back. At the same time, an individual by the name of Franklin Delano Roosevelt became president of the United States of America. He believed that the system has to be changed and dedicated his presidential era to regulation of the financial sector. This approach became famous as The New Deal (Piereson, 2008, May 15th). An important regulation document was the Glass Steagall Act, which seperated the commerical banking business from the investment banking. Due to speculation in investment banking parts, people with savings also lost their money, since the whole bank went bankrupt. The new regulation framework was supposed to avoid such scenarios in the future. In 1999, the act was repealed (Piereson, 2008, May 15th). Another example is the Investment Company Act, which should protect investors and public interests (Piereson, 2008, May 15th). New rules were introduced in Roosevelts era on a constant basis, which are rather important even today and form one of the pillars of modern credit and capital. Some of these rules include: Deposit insurance Securities regulation Federal regulation of banks In conclusion, it can be seen that investor protection started in the 30s and made financial markets saver for market

The areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. In recent years, many people were thinking about why the GDP (gross domestic product) of China has drop drastically from 11% to 7%. Well, that is an intentional cooling down that the country is doing to make the transition from industrial to service sector also known as tertiary industry . Through many years, the industrial sector was the one that contributed more to the GDP of the country; but now, China is changing this to a more stable and sustainable economy by opening up its service sector and the 12th Five Year Plan of China (2011 2015) is helping to accomplish this task. In 2013, for the first time of the history the service sector overpass the industrial sector in the contribution to the GDP.
