Intentional Binding
Predicting the consequences of our own action is an important aspect of motor control (Wolpert,
1995, 1997). The ideomotor principle of action control assumes that there is a bi directional
association between action motor code and its sensory effect. This bi directional association can be
useful for selecting an action by predicting or internally activating their perceptual events (Elsner
and Hommel, 2001, Waszak et al, 2012). Explain briefly Elsner and Homel 2001 study. It has been
extensively shown in the literature that the prediction or anticipation of action effects shown to
alter ones experience. For example, the phenomena of sensory attenuation and Intentional binding.
Sensory attenuation refers to the observation that events that... Show more content on

The intentional binding often attributed to the implicit measure of sense of agency because it has
been found that intentional binding occurs only when participant performs a voluntary action
and does not occur by involuntary action induced by TMS (Haggard et al, 2002, Hughes et al,
2013). Studies showed that in order to intentional binding occur the effect should be more or less
predictable with action whereas intentional biding does not occur if the effect is unpredictable
(Moore Haggard, 2008; Kumar et al., 2014). Both sensory attenuation and Intentional binding
were hypothesized to be the result of forward models. According to forward model the predicted
action consequences are compared to the observed action effect and when there is a match
between predicted and observed effect, the predicted effect will be cancelled out from the
experience results in sensory attenuation (Blakemore et al., 2000). When there is a mismatch
between predicted and observed action effect a prediction error occurs. This Prediction error can
be used to update the forward model for future trials and optimize the behavior (Shadmehr, Smith

A Brief Note On The Police Body Camera
Jordyn Hanson
Sara Gillis
ENGL 101T
30 Nov. 2016
Through an officer s eye A man in Seattle was arrested for a peaceful protest early this year, and
his arrest was recorded on a police body camera. He hasn t yet had his day in court, but the
footage of his arrest, name, address and date of birth are all made public records (Sullivan n.p.).
Those supporting these cameras say it is their right to see the footage, but by enabling those rights
the right to privacy for victims and officers become second class. The show Cops has been around
for 28 seasons and has highlighted the scenes of which police encounter every day. It s not pretty,
but those filmed are asked to sign off on permission to use the footage. If they don t sign the
footage can t be used, this is allowing suspects their due privacy. Police body cameras invade
officers and suspects rights to privacy and provide too much transparency. The primary
disadvantage of police body cameras is that they infringe on the simple privacy rights of officers
and those who they interact with. Unlike the show these officers would not be able to get a
signed release from every person in their film. A policy to release all police recorded videos
could mean footage of the inside of a person s home or a hospital would be available (Sullivan
n.p.). The body camera footage could show the inside of officers homes and other private situations
(Sullivan n.p.). This footage of a home, hospital or morgue shows that the footage is

Gander-Personal Narrative
I finally made it to Independence. As I walked to the front entrance I noticed a lot of wagon near
the entrance. As I soon as I got the entrance, they made me pay a small toll. I took my wagon
inside and gander at the town. The only thing I could see was the people and their wagon
crowding in the streets. I look all around the whole town, but can only see wagons close to me.
Then I noticed a small general store close to the bar. I got up close and the sign read Jorgensen s
General Store. I checked my supplies and noticed I was running low. I walk into the General
store. When I walked in, there was Lady working at the counter. I greeted her with kind respect
and I ask her if I can by some supplies. She greeted me with kind respect and she told me I can
look around the store. I gander at all of then item she had in her store. After a couple of minutes,
I selected a few item to take. I grabbed a hunting knife since the one I have been using has been
getting dull. I got some bacon and vegetables since I was running low. Also I grabbed some
sugar and salt to help with some of the food. I go a first aid kit since I lost mine when I was

What Makes Bilbo s Adventure
Now, Bilbo was out of the Wood Elves kingdom, and looking at the dark and uncanny forest
ahead of him, Mirkwood. Bilbo had passed through this forest before, but not so easily, and not
alone. He had to go inside the forest for hope of finding food, because at this point, all the elves are
off duty, and the gate wasn t going to be used until the sun had risen in the morning, and the hunters
set out for food. So, he started his unsettling journey through Mirkwood. Petrified and nervous,
Bilbo walked through Mirkwood with the thought that something bad would come his way.
Finding water and food was his first priority, so Bilbo set off towards the sound of a waterfall.
This sound was very perpetual and smooth, and reminded him of Bag End. He continued toward
the waterfall, where he would find food like fish, and of course, water. As he got closer, Bilbo
heard other noises like those he heard in the goblin s cave. This noise was unpleasant, as it brought
memories of the goblin s back. Bilbo quickly put on his ring, so he could get water without being
seen. When he got to the waterfall, he saw the most interesting and fascinating creatures. They...

It was hard for us to live here because of the spiders and other creatures that live in this forest.
Many of our people were killed fighting and protecting the city from the spiders. This all changed
after we found a magical tree that had the power to stop any enemies like goblins to come near it.
So, we moved our city here, and never had to worry about the spiders, explained Thorontur.
Just after Thorontur finished talking to Bilbo, the Trixies outside of the house they were in started
screaming with excitement. Adanian ran out to see what was happening. Zywin, the most energetic
and happy wizard, came to Silvermist. He made amazing fireworks, like Gandalf. These fireworks

An ally is someone who helps you get through a tough time and has your back for a long time.

Two domestic Terrorist Groups in the United States is the Black Liberation Army and the other

U.S. groups of the1970 s and 1980 s. They were also known as a militant black marxist composed
of the most violent elements of the Black Panther Party. One of their main goal was to take up
arms for the liberation of the black people in the United States.
Some of their Ideology are anti capitalist, anti imperialist, anti racist and anti sexist. What made

Descriptive Essay On Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls, Canada
Niagara Falls is my favorite vacation destination. The history and museums have been
interesting and kept me wondering about the people that have gone over the Niagara Falls for
years. Why did they do it? There have been many people to go over the Falls, some survived and
some did not. People take it as a challenge or even just for fun. Many believe that they may come
out being rich, they either have a great experience and are able to say they survived the Niagara
Falls or they perish to their death. It is against the law to go over the Falls and you will be charged,
thousands. I love to watch documentaries on Niagara Falls and hear about the people that have
gone over the Falls and survived. Niagara Falls is in North America, it is in Ontario, Canada and
is on the border of America and Canada. Canada is in the Era of Global capitalism as of 2017,
this means that they are in a transitional state with open ended evolution of capital. The Falls are
a great source of electricity for Ontario. Canada is moving into the postindustrial society and has
achieved 77% of the population to be urbanized. There is an increase in manufacturing and
tertiary sectors of the economy, which is what is leading to modernizing the population. Niagara
Falls have three different waterfalls and each is unique to the fitting names, The Horseshoe Fall,
American Fall and The Bridal Veil. Every Fall flows into the Niagara River filling the river with
150,000 gallons for water. The Horseshoe Fall is in the shape of a horseshoe and is split in half on
the Canadian border and the American border by Goat Island. The Horseshoe Fall has nine
times more water than the American Falls and makes up 90% of Niagara River. It stands at 167
feet tall and is 2, 700 feet wide in a horseshoe shape. The American Fall and is located in America
and is in the state of New York. This Fall is 110 feet tall and 950 feet in width. This Fall shares its
location with The Bridal Veil also in the state of New York. The Bridal Veil is 181 feet from land
to top and 56 feet wide. In 1678 the first sighting of the Falls was by Father Louis Hennepin, he
was sent on a French expedition. Hennepin published a book called A

Physics Of The Acoustic Guitar
String bending blues guitarist and fingerstyle players alike will be comfortable playing the Grand
Concert Series 712ce guitar from Taylor. With a number of premium features, it blends the distinct
sound of acoustic guitars with the dynamics of electric guitars. Aside from the ability to plug into
amps, fretting an electric guitarfeels very different from fretting on an acoustic. The 712ce has
specific design qualities to make the neck more accessible at higher frets and the strings more
bendable. As a result, this guitar is great for eclectic guitarist that don t want to constantly change
instruments for each song.
The Venetian cutaway of this acoustic guitar allows the left hand to access the frets farther up
towards the sound hold. These higher fret are otherwise a challenge to reach, making this guitar
well suited for electric guitarists going unplugged. Additionally, the smaller 24 7/8 inch scale length

This guitar was carefully designed with the versatile guitarist in mind, offering a wide range of
well suited musical genres. The shorter neck provides a benefit to both modern bending arpeggio
sweeps as well as classical finger picked chord shapes. The beautiful finish, traditional pick guard
and classic heritage diamond inlays give this instrument a timeless and eye catching appearance.

My Personal Experience In My Life
All throughout my life I was just an average kid who did average normal activities. I was never
very sociable or outgoing, but I still had a close group of friends. I wasn t very confident in
myself nor was I very disciplined. My life basically centered around video games with friends
and sports. I participated multiple sports such as cross country, nordic skiing, baseball, and track.
As I grew older I naturally became more confident, disciplined, and outspoken but not as much as I
would ve like to have been. In junior high, I looked up to the varsityrunners on the cross country
team. It was a goal of mine to be on that team and to do well, I never thought it would actually
happen. In my senior year it did, and we were great. We had a great season and even made it to
state, but doing well wasn t the most important acquisition of the year. In my final season I
became the hardworking, confident, disciplined, and outspoken person I am today. This is due
mainly to the team atmosphere, the coaches, and daily practice. The cross country team has
always felt like a family. Specific events were held just so athletes would feel included. One of
these events was called the weekendgetaway. During the weekend getaway all the athletes would
get on a bus and head to Sibley State Park camping grounds where we would enjoy a weekend of
running and activities. Board games, canoeing, and swimming would take up most of the day. The
team captains would work especially hard to get the older

Development of the Theater High Altitude Area Defense System
The United States Army has been developing and implementing systems in order to protect our
nation s national security. One of the systems the Army has added to its arsenal is the Theater High
Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD). During the Persian Gulf War, the Army identified a need
for a system that would be able to counter a theater ballistic missileattack. THAAD is designed to
cover the upper tier of the Army s two tiered theater ballistic missile defenseplan (DOD Inspector
General, 1995) and is a mobile ground based theater missile defense (TMD) system that can
protect military forces that are deployed at home or abroad, population centers, and civilian assets
from Theater Ballistic Missile (TBM) attacks. THAAD engages incoming ballistic missiles and is
capable of intercepting them at high altitudes. The prime contractor selected for the project was
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space. The project would encompass the design and materials of
radars, battle management command, control, communications, mobile launchers, interceptors and
ground support equipment. The launching system would be on a palletized loading system fitted
on existing vehicles the Army has in their inventory. THAAD s first inception was in 1992 and it
would take many years for the project to be successful. On June 28th, 2010, the 6th Air Defense
Artillery Brigade from the U.S. Army and the Missile Defense Agencywas successful in conducting
an intercept test (THAAD System Intercept, 2010). THAAD

The Target Strategy Of Wal Mart
Undifferentiated Target Strategy:
Wal Mart has an undifferentiated approach that stresses its low costs. This universal message is
delivered through all of its communications. This makes it easy for the audience to know what to
expect. Small companies more often emphasize local involvement and a personalized experience.
Message consistency also enables better word of mouth development, as all customers see the same
things.
Concentrated Target Strategy:
Providing the largest selection of hybrid vehicles in its make, carrying a reputation for reliable
cars, and by being one of the first car manufacturers to enter the hybrid market, Toyota was
successful in grabbing a large market share in the small segment. By capturing the largest market
share for hybrid vehicles, Toyota will not face as much difficulties when we enter the market of
electric vehicles because its hybrid vehicles have proved to be a leader in innovating new
opportunities for drivers. Toyota is a great example of concentrated marketing because it has
successfully dominated a large share in the small segment of hybrid vehicles.
Multi Segmented Target Strategy:
Disney mainly targets children and their families, it uses the multi segmented targeting strategy

Shrek The GRRR eatest Farytale Never told!!!
Finally, a family film you can sink your teeth into. Based on a William Steig s book about a green

story line.
The theme of the film is comedy. The general message was that it does not matter if your pretty or
ugly looking. It matters what s in the inside not the outside.
When it comes to computer generated motion pictures, Shrek has once more raised the bar and this

Shrek is a kind person in this film. His kind as well as sweet and has a secret crush on Princess
Fiona. In Shrek, he is ugly and no one likes him. That s a variation from Austin Powers. In
addition, I think that Princesses Fiona was a good part for Cameron Diaz because it reflects her
personality and is similar to Cameron Diaz. Also, Donkey was a good part for Eddie Murphy.
He is a loveable donkey with a big heart. He just doesn t stop telling jokes. I personally think the
main reason why the film was funny was because of Eddie Murphy. I think that Donkey was a
good part for Eddie Murphy because I think Eddie Murphy is a really funny man and made the
film funny. Lord Farquaad (Played by John Lithgow) is a mean and cruel king. But his not king
yet. He has to marry a princess before he can be crowned a king.
I believe that the director did a good job in this film. In addition showed his true ability as a
director. The film showed attractive techniques such as Bullet Time this was also used in The
Matrix (1999) The soundtrack was excellent because it helped to create atmospheric feelings to the
film.
Personally, I enjoyed the film very much. It was predictable but I still enjoyed it. Also, I enjoyed
the storyline. There are not many bad points to say about this film apart from when Donkey Sang

Assimilation And The Dominant Culture
The process whereby individuals or groups of differing ethnic heritage are absorbed into the
dominant culture of a society.
As the definition states, Assimilation can be seen as a process in which ethnic groups from
different backgrounds start absorbing the dominant culture of the new country they are residing on.
This is commonly seen in any ethnic group that starts living in a new country for a long period of
time. One that I relate to is the Mexican heritage. Both my parents and family members migrated
here from Mexico. Even though they have lived here for many years, their culture and traditions
have not fully changed, however, they have change in a way that our family in Mexico view it as
different. For example, Christmas for us means

The Battle of Algiers and The Algerian Insurgency Essay
French Algeria is now called Algeria and won its independence from its colonial power, France.
The two political communities in French Algeria were the French citizens and the Algerian people.
The Algerian people were under French rule for over one hundred years from 1830 to 1962 when
they were given their independence and recognized by France. The events of November 1, 1954,
marked the birth of the National Liberation Front (FLN) (Cherian). The Muslim population is the
part of the population that felt isolated and they wanted more political autonomy. The Muslim

This was their targets for the start of the insurgency on November 1st.They would walk up shoot

especially when they were on strike to gain UN approval for an Algerian nation free from France
but the French Army forced them to their jobs and work. They instituted a curfew and checkpoints
between the two parts of Algeria where the French citizen were and the Algerian people were
housed. They then instituted bombs after their homes were bombed and burned killing their family
members and children. The FLN then built purse bombs to attack the French civilians at local
areas such as a restaurant, airport, and dance club. They also started to attack the military when
threatened and hid weapons in the French occupied territory to attack the policemen. The French
civilians were also tired of friends and family getting killed so they started to attack Algerian
children whenever they saw them. The French citizens almost killed a young boy by trampling and
kicking him when he was on the ground until the police pulled the child to safety.
The Algerian insurgency used the strategy that Mao developed and perfected but every nation or
country has to tailor their strategy based on the cultural and ethnic traditions and background. The

The Cosmological Argument
The Cosmological Argument
An important argument to try and prove the existence of God is the Cosmological Argument
brought on by observations of the physical universe, made by Saint Thomas Aquinas, a thirteenth
century Christian philosopher. The cosmological argument is a result from the study of the cosmos;
Aquinas borrows ideas from Aristotle to make this systematically organized argument. Aquinas first
point begins with the observation that everything is moving. Aquinas says that everything that
moves must be moved by another moving thing, which has to be moved by another moving thing
and so on. This cannot be infinite though, because consequently the motion of the series would
have no origin, and the origin of this series cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But David Hume, a Scottish philosopher, objected to Aquinas second point by arguing that if each
individual link in the chain of causes and motions can be explained then there is no need for an
additional explanation for the whole of the chain. The explanation of each part is enough of an
explanation for the whole itself. But defenders say that the discovery of the Big Bang theory would
be the beginning of the causes and motions in the universe and is not infinite, so infinite regress
would not be possible.
A third objection to the cosmological argument as a whole is that Aquinas insists that everything has
a cause; if that is true, then what caused God? There being an uncaused cause would be a
contradiction to Aquinas whole argument that everything has a cause yet God has no cause. But
Aquinas defends his argument by saying that only everything in our universe has a cause because
everything in our universe is a limited, dependent being. That still would require an uncaused,
neither finite, nor dependent being unlike anything in our universe, God. Critics also object that the
cosmological argument does not prove a loving and personal God, but Aquinas would probably
respond by stating that this wouldn t prove his argument is wrong, only that it has a limited
purpose. I think between the two arguments, Cosmological and Ontological, the cosmological

Soldiers killed many innocent lives because it was a do or die situation. They did not know which
civilians were innocent and which were enemies. They ended up killing innocent men, women, and

Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play
With the title alone, it is easy to assume that Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play would not be a
typical play. Unlike other performances, Mr. Burns is not a simple narrative. Quite literally, it is
a play within a play. The narrative lacks structure due to how it stands as a social commentary on
the importance of entertainment to society. Mr. Burns began after what seems to be a traumatic
event that has affected everyone s way of life. From what we see as our survivors huddled around
a campfire in the woods. They recount a normalcy of how life used to be, an episode of The
Simpsons. Throughout the recounts on what happened in the episode Cape Feare , the play
introduces a new character which gives exposition to the current landscape of the United States. As
the play continues into its second and third act, there is a large shift on the scenery, lighting, etc. as
the cast begins to recreate the episode of The Simpsons which they discuss in the previous act.
While it is easy to get lost on why everything is happening, why they are performing, it comes to
the central conflict of reclaiming normalcy of the world which has past, an episode of television. As
the performance goes on, the costume designrepresents where our characters are at in their
timeline. While, in the first act, the characters are dressed in stereotypical post apocalyptic attire, it
does vary in from what we are presented in the last two acts. Around the campfire, the characters
are dressed in

I Am Responding To Question Number 2. “Retirement Is The
I am responding to question number 2. Retirement is the period of life, usually starting between age
60 and 65, during which an individual stops working in the paid labor force. (Lecture slides)
According to our text, the concept of retirement is a relatively recent phenomenon in Western
society. (Hooyman, Kawamoto, Kiyak. Aging Matters: An Introduction to Social Gerontology)
People used to work until they died, but people also used to die much earlier in their lives, so that
could partly explain why that was the case. Retirementalso used to be mandatory at age 65 for most
jobs, but people usually retired before then around age 60. The average American now (in 2013)
plans to retire at age 66 or 67, compared to age 60 in 1995. (Study... Show more content on

It is based on how much you paid into through taxes and not by your income. Social Security is
the major source of income for about 66% of older beneficiaries. For about 24% of beneficiaries
it provides 90% or more of their yearly income. (Study Guide) This is alarming because the
average yearly Social Security benefit in 2013 was about $14,144 a year or about $1179 per
month. (Study Guide) This might be a little hard to live comfortably from. Another form of
incentive was pensions and health insurance sponsered by employers. Pensions are usually offered
in white collar jobs. These are usually based on your earnings, unlike Social Security. The baby
boomer generation wasn t very lucky with how their hopes for retirement would be ruined. The
baby boomer generation thought they would have enough economic resources when they reached
retirement, and they thought if they did work in retirement, it wouldn t be because they had to.
This is not the case for the baby boomers due to global economic downturn and the recession.
Instead, they are more likely to put off retirement got financial reasons. In a 2011 survey, 25 percent
of the respondents said they will need to work until at least age 80 because they will not have
enough money to retire comfortably. (Hooyman, Kawamoto, Kiyak. Aging Matters: An

which is for more convincing to a modern, feminist audience. Emilia asks Desdemona if she would

Bugs Bunny Commercial Analysis
Imagine audiences sitting in the movie theater trying to escape from the looming hardships of
World War II. They sit and watch as the commercials begin to play when one of the most familiar
tunes in animation begins. The commercial presents itself deceptively using the classic Looney
Tunes curtain opening and theme music with the simple title of Bugs Bunny. The only hint at the
true purpose of advertising at this point is the producer listing of the U.S. Treasury Dept.
Defense Savings Staff. The curtains quickly open with an approaching Bugs Bunny miming the
fife with his carrot as The Girl I Left Behind plays in the background. This is all set against a
redrawing of the classic American painting The Spirit of 76. Bugs Bunny then begins to eat the
carrot he s been holding, when he suddenly begins the song Any Bonds Today? . Suddenly, the
purpose of the commercial is finally revealed to the audience, with Bugs song telling people to
buy war bonds. All throughout this he gestures, points and moves with an animated flair for the
audience. He even exits and reenters frame with an Uncle Sam costume, eventually beginning to
act like he s passing out bonds to the audience. Until, with an animated twirl Bugs Bunny appears
with blackface and a different singing voice, a parody of the blackface performance Al Jolson
did in the movie The Jazz Singer. Finally, the picture pulls in close on Bugs face as he wipes
away the paint and once the picture pulls back out the backdrop has changed. It shows a combat
scene full of planes and ships as Elmer Fuddand Porky Pigappear to help close the advertisement
with singing and dancing. As the song ends a simple war bonds ad pulls into frame. It now
presents a Minuteman on the left and texts that reads For Defense Buy United States Savings
Bonds and Stamps. The commercial relies heavily on its ethos and pathos to convince the audience
into buying war bonds, using very little logos.
Furthermore, ethos is used by the commercial with the use of Bugs Bunny as the appeal for the
audience. At this time in American history Bugs Bunny was one the most famous animated
characters often considered fun for the whole family. Also with most fathers gone off to fight in the
war the

Reflective Essay On Outdoor Education
One of the great aspects of Jesse Remington High School is the Outdoor Education program.
Whether it be going hiking, going to Moore Park, or going to the tennis court, everyone always has
plenty of fun and gets challenged in different ways. One of the events this semester that I really
enjoyed and valued from would the the Fall Mountain Retreat Hike.
The Fall Mountain Retreat Hike that I went on this year was in Vermont. Mr. Philbrick led the
way on the very first Vermont hike for this retreat. Although it was a mild hike, we still had some
challenges faced. At certain points, there were boulders in our way, so we crunched down to hoist
ourselves up through them. Once we finally made it to the top, there was a beautiful cabin with a
phenomenal view. Not only that, however, but there was a water tower! Most of us climbed
approximately forty feet up and got a better view than ever imagined.
On this hike, I learned an amazing amount of knowledge about myself that I did not know before.
One would be that I am very squeamish when it comes to walking through spider webs! But more
serious than that, I learned that taking a risk and not letting my fears control me will benefit me in
the long run. I am terrified of heights, but with a bit of a nudge from others, I climbed the forty
foot tower. Despite being nervous on the way up, when I got to the top, it was as if I I had no fear
at all. The view was overwhelmingly breathtaking! One last factor that I

looking forward to it, actually. I felt that the past years of my life had been wasted on social life
and boys who just disappointed me at the end. Moving to a new school was a way to break free,
to start anew and focus on something different for a change. Studies. That s right, I was going to
focus on studies. Plus, I had quite a few close friends who were going to be there, and that made
it even better. The first day of school had been fun. I had some classes with the people I was
familiar with. Even the morning classes didn t sound so bad, since my best friends were in
there. Lucy Sun and Anna Zhang were among the reasons of why I had wanted to transfer. The
three of us had known each other since a young age. They might have been a little crazy back
then, but awesome none the same. They were the friends I would never want to let go of. They
were best friends as well, though it seemed unlikely. Those two were as different as two people
can get. Lucy was slim, with a small figure and a pretty face to match. She had short hairback then,
and the locks barely reached her shoulders. She dressed the way Korea or Asian girls would dress,
delicate and feminine. She took great interest in hair styles and sometimes complained about how
her short hair didn t allow her to wear the style she wanted.

Effects Of Recasts And Prompts On L2 Learners
Ammar and Spada (2006) investigated the effects of recasts and prompts on L2 learners written
and oral ability across different proficiency levels. The study fits in with the previous research,
as in previously the focus of research was just based on CF being a solution for low levels of
grammatical efficiency, which have been explained as the proof against the accuracy of
understandable input and exceptionally meaning based direction. The researchers have thus
proposed FFI in CF, which is based both on reactive and proactive form of feedback and which
has been proposed by the researchers as the most important way of attracting the learners towards
language form in case of communicative classroom environment. The main motivation, just as in
previous article, is to explore the form focused instruction as alternative way of instruction so as to
make CF more proactive as well as reactive. The main hypothesis of this researchis that learners
who have been more exposed to the communicative activities including components of the CF
would probably get more benefits as compared to those who are exposed only to the
communicative activities alone. For this purpose, there were 64 students, who were divided into
three different groups in ESL classes in Montreal and there were two experimental conditions that
were applied to them. One group had received the CF in the form of prompts as well as recasts.

Our hair is something most of us strive to keep looking as good as possible. Most people have
different opinions about what things can help to create the best haircuts, but most of us agree the
latest hairstyles are important to know so that our hair does not look old fashioned or out of style .
The most common consensus is that the best haircuts are the ones that provide you with a look
you are happy with. It does not matter if the cut you chose is one of the latest hairstyles as long as
you are pleased with the way your hair looks. The latest hairstyles are not always flattering on
every person, so the best haircuts are the ones that are flattering to your face shape, and to the type

Founders of the United States of America believed in providing the people of this great nation

The primary functions of lower courts consist of processing minor offenses but these courts will
sometimes process felonies as well, without sentencing the defendant. Major trial courts take the
processed felony cases and complete them; in major courts the defendants who are charged with
felony crimes mainly enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, which then leads to a trial (Neubauer,
2010). The second component of our dual court system consists of appellate courts. In the U.S.
judicial system, a defendant found guilty in a trial court can normally appeal to a higher federal
court. These federal courts, or appellate courts, review decisions made by trial courts (Neubauer,
2010). Appellate courts can be on the federal and state level, but do not hold trials or hear new
evidence. These courts consist of a judge, or a lawyer, or a group of either one, who read the
transcript of the trial and whether the previous decision correctly or incorrectly followed the law
(Neubauer, 2010). Similar to trial courts, the federal government and most states have made two
different types of appellate courts: intermediate, which hear all cases, and supreme courts, which
can pick and choose the cases heard (Neubauer, 2010). Even though there are many different types
of courts within the judicial system of the United States, the role of the judge stays constant
throughout the majority of branches. Judges and their duties in the courtroom are misunderstood,

Comparing Two Diaries, Donald Vining s A Gay Diary Vol Essay
Two Diaries, Donald Vining s A Gay Diary Vol. Two and Martin Duberman s Gay in the Fifties
look into the everyday life of gay males in the post World War II Era. While World War II
increased freedom for men to sexually explore within the male community, post World War II
extended the freedom of exploration but also created a subsequent backlash against homosexual
practices. Vining and Duberman s diaries document an extension of gay freedoms in the post
World War II period. Although Vining and Duberman give contrasting accounts of their lives as
gay males in the postwar period, common themes could be drawn in the form of friendships,
sexual activity, relationships, and backlash by heteronormative society. Vining had a social sphere
consisting of predominantly homosexuals due to his metropolitan location. Vining, a gay male
living in Manhattan, had a very complex social life that consisted mainly of gay, white men.
Vining frequently went to the theater, parties, and dinner with his gay friends, and he would
constantly be in contact with at least one of his friends (Vining Diary, p. 9, February 5 1947).
World War II placed men in all male, close quarters and allowed them to sexually explore, so men
in the postwar period sought an extension of this freedom to explore. Fortunately, cities in the
postwar period afforded men this continuation (Allan Berube, Coming Out Under Fire). Rather than
being trapped in a small town with community policing, cities allowed men to be

The Fundamental Concepts Behind Signal Processing
A signal is a time dependent, numerical representation of events in the physical world. In typical
applications, the signal is in the form of a current or a voltage. For the signal to be useful, it must
be modeled. Signal processing takes time dependent data, and manipulates it to create a
mathematical model useful to practical problem solvers. Many techniques for signal processing
exist, including Fourier Transforms, moving averages, filtering, and spectral analysis. Spectral
analysis uses sampled data to reconstruct a given signal. Though conceptually simple, sampling is
typically impractical for most applications due to the large quantity of data involved in the
calculations. However, the fundamental concepts behind signal processing... Show more content on

Fourier Series require an infinite number of frequencies, but the sampling frequency is subdivided
into a finite number of frequency ranges to reduce calculations. One cosine and one sine function
is needed to represent the signal for each subdivision of the sampling frequency. If the sampled
data is represented by a vector, it can be written as a linear combination of two vectors, each
composed of the appropriate sinusoidal entries. Let bо‚ m contain the cosine entries at frequency
subdivision m, and cо‚ contain the sine entries at m subdivision m. Then, B=[bо‚ о‚‹ bо‚ ] ,
C=[cо‚ о‚‹ cо‚ ] , D=[B C] , and the columns 0m0m of D form a basis for the vector space V. It
can be shown that the columns of D are, in fact, an orthogonal basis because the dot product of
any two vectors in D is zero.

A Brief Note On The And The Legacy Of The Crusades
SOLDIERS OF THE CROSS: THE LEGACY OF THE CRUSADES
William Q. McCardle
Liberty University Online
CHHI 301 B05
October 6, 2014
On a late November day, in the year 1095, the leader of the Holy Roman Catholic Church
delivered a sermon that would forever change the face of Europe. Pope Urban II roused those in
attendance at the Council of Clermont to take up arms and fight for a noble and just cause. I, or
rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ s heralds to publish this everywhere and to pers¬e all
people of whatever rank, foot soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those
Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are
present, it is meant also for those who are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it . When Pope
Urban had said these ... things in his urbane discourse, he so influenced to one purpose the
desires of all who were present, that they cried out It is the will of God! It is the will of God! .
When the venerable Roman pontiff heard that, [he] said: Most beloved brethren, today is manifest
in you what the Lord says in the Gospel, Where two or three are gathered together in my name
there am I in the midst of them. Unless the Lord God had been present in your spirits, all of you

Reflection Of The Book Of Revelation
The book of Revelation opens with an astonishing glimpse of future events that Jesus revealed to
John. God gave Jesus the revelation, and Jesus sent the revelation to His servant John by an
angel. In this opening scene of Revelation, John heard a mighty voice behind him speaking to
him. When he turned to see who was speaking he saw a graphic view of seven candlesticks with a
man standing amid them. The display of seven candlesticks and the One in the middle of them was
significant to the totality of the vision that John received to be written down for an everlasting
record of the things that must certainly come to pass for all believers. John, the servant of Jesus
Christ, had been exiled on the Isle of Patmos because of his witness and testimony of the word of
God, and because of his all embracing commitment to Jesus. He proclaimed that he was in the
Spirit on the Lord s Day when he heard a mighty, powerful voice speaking behind him. Upon
hearing the voice, he immediately gave heed to the direction of the voice and saw seven
candlesticks and the One standing in the midst of them. The significance of the candlesticks was
that they were symbolic of the seven churches that were in Asia. The Lord assigned John the task
of writing to the seven churches and reporting the revelation to them that was divulged to him by
Jesus. Jesus analyzed each of the churches and revealed to John a status report of His findings. The
very candid reports, whether good or bad,

Five Pillars Of Islam, The Most Important Article Of Faith
Five pillars of Islam, are spiritual practices that define what it means to be a member of the
Muslim community and believe in Islam. Shahadah, is the first pillar of Islam. This is a self
profession of faith, an inner testimony of faith. There is no god but God, and Muhammad is his
true prophet. Shahadah is considered the most important article of faith. The Qur an says that in
those with true faith should tell others, giving them information to make an intelligent choice in
regards to faith and religion. At the same time one must respect all prophets and all revealed
religions. Salat, ritual prayer is the second pillar of Islam. The call to prayer and an affirmation of
Gods unity. There are five daily prayers starting at sunrise, midday, afternoon, sunset, and after
night falls. The time of each prayer changes from day to day with the orientation of the sun in
the heaven. These prayers are continuous reminders for Muslims to submit to God, keeping them
on a pure path, rejuvenating their faith, and giving thanks to God for all of the blessings they
enjoy. Prior to each prayer one must ritually purified and cleanse one s self both spiritually and
physically in preparation for prayer. There is strict gender segregation during prayer. The Quiblah
in each Muslim mosque faces in the direction of Mecca, which is the way one prays, facing the Ka

Selective Service System Persuasive Essay
Getting a job, a college loan, a driver s license, or even citizenship are things that are usually
considered necessary for the average citizen, and unless you sign up for the Selective Service
System, you won t be able to get these very crucial things. By law, a man is required to register
for the SSS within thirty days of his 18th birthday. This means that at any point in time a man can
be taken away from his family, friends, work, and home and thrown into a literal war zone. Men in
the United Statesshould not be required to enter the Selective Service System. Under the current
draft law, according to the official Selective Service System website, a college student can have
his induction postponed only until the end of the current semester. A senior can be postponed
until the end of the full academic year. Now, what if this young man gets murdered on the
battlefield and is not able to return to receive his degree? This young man could have been a
doctor, a dentist, maybe even a dermatologist, but instead he s just a distant memory. Back before
Congress reformed the draft in 1971, a man could get out of the draft if he was attending school,
nowadays, we aren t so forgiving ( How The Draft Has Changed Since Vietnam ). This could leave
a lot of men with unquestionably promising futures stranded in the cemeteries.

Pros And Cons Of Body Modification
Although body modification has some benefits the government should raise or create an age
restriction for body surgeries. In third grade, I learned that my uncle had died. A relative dying
may not particularly uncommon, but my story varies from others because I had not known my
uncle existed. The extent of my knowledge at the time was that my dad had 1 brother but he
apparently had 2. My parents never told me about him because they didn;t want me to hang
around somebody who used drugs because of the possible influence it could have on me. My uncle
s drug addiction began in his teens. He ended up stealing stuff in order to pay for them,
unbeknownst to his parents and my dad. I think this perfectly illustrates the lapse in judgement of
teens because my uncle made the choice to do drugs once which at the time may have seemed cool
but if he thought it through, maybe he never would have actually used them. If he was older at that
time, he may have thought his decision through more than he did and he would still be alive today.
The major judgement issues in teens result in much more than just a drug addiction but they may
result in a teen with a completely surgically changed body. In order to prevent this, having an age
restriction presents itself as the only solution. Although some use body modificationfor an outlet in
which they express themselves, the government must create an age limit of 21 for the procedures.
Granted that body modification has certain drawbacks, it does

Beauty Pageants Controversy
Beauty contests are competitions where the contestants are ranked and judged based on their

They have been controversial as it puts a narrow perspective on the definition of beauty. There were
protests to ban beauty pageants in the past because it showed that the appearance of women
determined their beauty, rather than their personality. Beauty contests should be banned because it
damages the contestants health. Child beauty pageants causes them to develop eating disorders due
to them having to wear makeup and tight clothes. Since they are forced to wear makeup to impress
the judges, they think that their beauty is based on their appearance, which causes them to develop
eating disorders. Furthermore, the contestants have to display a proper feminine image. Rebekah
Revels and Tara Conner got their crowns taken away for doing nothing wrong. They didn t hurt
anyone yet they were taken away because it wasn t feminine to drink alcohol and take scandalous

How Did Elvis Presley Influence Society
Elvis Aaron Presley, otherwise known as The King was born on January 8th, 1935. He came
from simple beginnings; being born into a lower class family in Tupelo, Mississippi. In 1948, at
the age of 13 Elvis Presley and his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Soon he launched his
incredibly successful music career with Sun Records at the age of 19 in 1954. His music was
influenced by both African American and White artists causing his unique blend of country,
pop, rhythm and blues, and gospel music. Presley was heavily influenced by artists such as
Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, and Buddy Holly. Though Presley was widely known for his
provocative dances moves and his popularization of Rock n Roll Presley impacted American
culture in a much larger aspect. His influence on Americans and American culture aided
desegregation and civil rights during his period of influence and helped create youth culture .
Presley facilitated desegregation through his music genre and selection. He did this by creating
music for both Black and White listeners integrating the two music genres. For instance, Elvis
Presley s first single released in July of 1954 began his career of integrating Black and White
music. This record contained a cover of That s All Right an R B song which was originally
written and recorded by the African American artist Arthur Crudup on side A. While side B was
a recording of a cover of the bluegrass song Blue Moon of Kentucky by the white artist Bill
Monroe. This representation showed the American people that both Black and White culture
could live side by side beautifully. This record also displayed the beginning Presley s attitude
and complete disregard for segregation. This portrayal of mixing these cultures came at an
especially tense time in American history. Two months before Presley released these songs the
case of Brown Vs. Board of Education had come to a ruling. The Brown Vs. Board of Education
case was a case filed against the Topeka, Kansas school board because a Black child was denied
access to a White school. The plaintiff argued that the segregated schools were separate but not
equal and violated the equal protection clause in the 14th amendment. In May of 1954 the U.S.

The Moral Value Of Moral Values
The claim that moral values cannot be derived from facts is grounded in the idea that facts are
descriptive and informative, whereas value propositions are prescriptive and imply that we
ought to carry out certain action or act in a particular way. In essence, while facts give us
information about the world itself, values tell us how we should act. It is accepted that facts are
cognitive and are therefore know to be true or false. However, non cognitivists support the idea
that moral truths cannot be known due to the notion that any individual who is making moral
judgements is not articulating their beliefs about the way the world is. Essentially, it is believed
that there are no transcendent moral thoughts to be known or discovered by individuals. David
Hume initially pointed out that it would be illogical to derive facts from values facts cannot be
used in the assignment of values. This was later referred to as the is ought gap, fact value
distinction, or naturalistic fallacyto use the term created by G.E. Moore. Primarily, it is a matter of
fact what our moral duties are. For example; Plato argued that the good can be known through
reason, and the knowledge of the good is sufficient enough to motivate us to pursue it. However, in
accordance to Hume s Law, no factual description of an action can entail a value judgement
concerning it. Additionally, reason alone cannot provide motivation for action, or that beliefs are
distinct from desires. On the contrary, Kant

Funerary Vases Essay examples
Funerary Vase (Krater) 1) A painted clay vessel showing an early style of Greek figurative art,
also embodies some core Greek beliefs. 2) Grave Marker: a) A Krater is a wide mouthed clay
vessel for mixing wine and water. 3) Terracotta: a) The vessel is made from Terracotta
(Terracotta, Terra cotta or Terra cotta (Italian: baked earth , from the Latin terra cotta), a type of
earthenware, is a clay based unglazed or glazed ceramic where the fired body is porous. Its uses
include vessels (notably flowerpots), and Greek terracotta figurines. The term is used to refer to
items made out of this material and to its natural, brownish orange color, which varies considerably.

Originating in approximately 1050 BCE, this style greatly varied from the previous Minoan and
Mycenaean approaches. Being in the Geometric period, these vases started using different shapes,
such as spirals, and diamonds, which the previous are styles were not accustomed too. Death and
funerary practices are of particular interest to archaeologists, mainly because funerary remains are
often some of the best preserved and most widely available resources for studying ancient cultures.
Graves and the objects found within them can potentially provide a wealth of information about
everything from the life and death of the deceased individual to the beliefs, rituals, and customs of
the society as a whole. Funerary remains allow archaeologists a glimpse into the individual s
personal taste, socio economic status, and position within society. Perhaps a more credible result of
studying these remains, however, is the insight into the ways in which the individual was
remembered and regarded by his or her survivors.
A large number of Greek vases from the Geometric period (approximately 900 700 BCE) focus on
burial and mourning styles. These vases come primarily from the provinces of Attica, Boeotia, and
the Argolid on the Greek mainland. The styles shown on vases from these areas are so similar to
one another that scholars believe the styles all originate from Bronze Age traditions some 800 1000
years prior. Although CU Art Museum

  • 2. Intentional Binding Predicting the consequences of our own action is an important aspect of motor control (Wolpert, 1995, 1997). The ideomotor principle of action control assumes that there is a bi directional association between action motor code and its sensory effect. This bi directional association can be useful for selecting an action by predicting or internally activating their perceptual events (Elsner and Hommel, 2001, Waszak et al, 2012). Explain briefly Elsner and Homel 2001 study. It has been extensively shown in the literature that the prediction or anticipation of action effects shown to alter ones experience. For example, the phenomena of sensory attenuation and Intentional binding. Sensory attenuation refers to the observation that events that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The intentional binding often attributed to the implicit measure of sense of agency because it has been found that intentional binding occurs only when participant performs a voluntary action and does not occur by involuntary action induced by TMS (Haggard et al, 2002, Hughes et al, 2013). Studies showed that in order to intentional binding occur the effect should be more or less predictable with action whereas intentional biding does not occur if the effect is unpredictable (Moore Haggard, 2008; Kumar et al., 2014). Both sensory attenuation and Intentional binding were hypothesized to be the result of forward models. According to forward model the predicted action consequences are compared to the observed action effect and when there is a match between predicted and observed effect, the predicted effect will be cancelled out from the experience results in sensory attenuation (Blakemore et al., 2000). When there is a mismatch between predicted and observed action effect a prediction error occurs. This Prediction error can be used to update the forward model for future trials and optimize the behavior (Shadmehr, Smith Krakauer, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Brief Note On The Police Body Camera Jordyn Hanson Sara Gillis ENGL 101T 30 Nov. 2016 Through an officer s eye A man in Seattle was arrested for a peaceful protest early this year, and his arrest was recorded on a police body camera. He hasn t yet had his day in court, but the footage of his arrest, name, address and date of birth are all made public records (Sullivan n.p.). Those supporting these cameras say it is their right to see the footage, but by enabling those rights the right to privacy for victims and officers become second class. The show Cops has been around for 28 seasons and has highlighted the scenes of which police encounter every day. It s not pretty, but those filmed are asked to sign off on permission to use the footage. If they don t sign the footage can t be used, this is allowing suspects their due privacy. Police body cameras invade officers and suspects rights to privacy and provide too much transparency. The primary disadvantage of police body cameras is that they infringe on the simple privacy rights of officers and those who they interact with. Unlike the show these officers would not be able to get a signed release from every person in their film. A policy to release all police recorded videos could mean footage of the inside of a person s home or a hospital would be available (Sullivan n.p.). The body camera footage could show the inside of officers homes and other private situations (Sullivan n.p.). This footage of a home, hospital or morgue shows that the footage is ... Bilbo had passed through this forest before, but not so easily, and not alone. He had to go inside the forest for hope of finding food, because at this point, all the elves are off duty, and the gate wasn t going to be used until the sun had risen in the morning, and the hunters set out for food. So, he started his unsettling journey through Mirkwood. Petrified and nervous, Bilbo walked through Mirkwood with the thought that something bad would come his way. Finding water and food was his first priority, so Bilbo set off towards the sound of a waterfall. This sound was very perpetual and smooth, and reminded him of Bag End. He continued toward the waterfall, where he would find food like fish, and of course, water. As he got closer, Bilbo heard other noises like those he heard in the goblin s cave. This noise was unpleasant, as it brought memories of the goblin s back. Bilbo quickly put on his ring, so he could get water without being seen. • 8. Descriptive Essay On Niagara Falls Niagara Falls, Canada Niagara Falls is my favorite vacation destination. The history and museums have been interesting and kept me wondering about the people that have gone over the Niagara Falls for years. Why did they do it? There have been many people to go over the Falls, some survived and some did not. People take it as a challenge or even just for fun. Many believe that they may come out being rich, they either have a great experience and are able to say they survived the Niagara Falls or they perish to their death. It is against the law to go over the Falls and you will be charged, thousands. I love to watch documentaries on Niagara Falls and hear about the people that have gone over the Falls and survived. Niagara Falls is in North America, it is in Ontario, Canada and is on the border of America and Canada. Canada is in the Era of Global capitalism as of 2017, this means that they are in a transitional state with open ended evolution of capital. The Falls are a great source of electricity for Ontario. Canada is moving into the postindustrial society and has achieved 77% of the population to be urbanized. There is an increase in manufacturing and tertiary sectors of the economy, which is what is leading to modernizing the population. Niagara Falls have three different waterfalls and each is unique to the fitting names, The Horseshoe Fall, American Fall and The Bridal Veil. Every Fall flows into the Niagara River filling the river with 150,000 gallons for water. The Horseshoe Fall is in the shape of a horseshoe and is split in half on the Canadian border and the American border by Goat Island. • 11. Development of the Theater High Altitude Area Defense System The United States Army has been developing and implementing systems in order to protect our nation s national security. One of the systems the Army has added to its arsenal is the Theater High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD). During the Persian Gulf War, the Army identified a need for a system that would be able to counter a theater ballistic missileattack. THAAD is designed to cover the upper tier of the Army s two tiered theater ballistic missile defenseplan (DOD Inspector General, 1995) and is a mobile ground based theater missile defense (TMD) system that can protect military forces that are deployed at home or abroad, population centers, and civilian assets from Theater Ballistic Missile (TBM) attacks. THAAD engages incoming ballistic missiles and is capable of intercepting them at high altitudes. The prime contractor selected for the project was Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space. The project would encompass the design and materials of radars, battle management command, control, communications, mobile launchers, interceptors and ground support equipment. The launching system would be on a palletized loading system fitted on existing vehicles the Army has in their inventory. THAAD s first inception was in 1992 and it would take many years for the project to be successful. • 20. The Cosmological Argument The Cosmological Argument An important argument to try and prove the existence of God is the Cosmological Argument brought on by observations of the physical universe, made by Saint Thomas Aquinas, a thirteenth century Christian philosopher. The cosmological argument is a result from the study of the cosmos; Aquinas borrows ideas from Aristotle to make this systematically organized argument. Aquinas first point begins with the observation that everything is moving. Aquinas says that everything that moves must be moved by another moving thing, which has to be moved by another moving thing and so on. This cannot be infinite though, because consequently the motion of the series would have no origin, and the origin of this series cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But David Hume, a Scottish philosopher, objected to Aquinas second point by arguing that if each individual link in the chain of causes and motions can be explained then there is no need for an additional explanation for the whole of the chain. The explanation of each part is enough of an explanation for the whole itself. But defenders say that the discovery of the Big Bang theory would be the beginning of the causes and motions in the universe and is not infinite, so infinite regress would not be possible. A third objection to the cosmological argument as a whole is that Aquinas insists that everything has a cause; if that is true, then what caused God? There being an uncaused cause would be a contradiction to Aquinas whole argument that everything has a cause yet God has no cause. But Aquinas defends his argument by saying that only everything in our universe has a cause because everything in our universe is a limited, dependent being. That still would require an uncaused, neither finite, nor dependent being unlike anything in our universe, God. Critics also object that the cosmological argument does not prove a loving and personal God, but Aquinas would probably respond by stating that this wouldn t prove his argument is wrong, only that it has a limited purpose. Unlike other performances, Mr. Burns is not a simple narrative. Quite literally, it is a play within a play. The narrative lacks structure due to how it stands as a social commentary on the importance of entertainment to society. Mr. Burns began after what seems to be a traumatic event that has affected everyone s way of life. From what we see as our survivors huddled around a campfire in the woods. They recount a normalcy of how life used to be, an episode of The Simpsons. Throughout the recounts on what happened in the episode Cape Feare , the play introduces a new character which gives exposition to the current landscape of the United States. As the play continues into its second and third act, there is a large shift on the scenery, lighting, etc. as the cast begins to recreate the episode of The Simpsons which they discuss in the previous act. While it is easy to get lost on why everything is happening, why they are performing, it comes to the central conflict of reclaiming normalcy of the world which has past, an episode of television. As the performance goes on, the costume designrepresents where our characters are at in their timeline. While, in the first act, the characters are dressed in stereotypical post apocalyptic attire, it does vary in from what we are presented in the last two acts. Retirement is the period of life, usually starting between age 60 and 65, during which an individual stops working in the paid labor force. (Lecture slides) According to our text, the concept of retirement is a relatively recent phenomenon in Western society. (Hooyman, Kawamoto, Kiyak. Aging Matters: An Introduction to Social Gerontology) People used to work until they died, but people also used to die much earlier in their lives, so that could partly explain why that was the case. Retirementalso used to be mandatory at age 65 for most jobs, but people usually retired before then around age 60. The baby boomer generation thought they would have enough economic resources when they reached retirement, and they thought if they did work in retirement, it wouldn t be because they had to. • 27. Bugs Bunny Commercial Analysis Imagine audiences sitting in the movie theater trying to escape from the looming hardships of World War II. They sit and watch as the commercials begin to play when one of the most familiar tunes in animation begins. The commercial presents itself deceptively using the classic Looney Tunes curtain opening and theme music with the simple title of Bugs Bunny. The only hint at the true purpose of advertising at this point is the producer listing of the U.S. Treasury Dept. Defense Savings Staff. The curtains quickly open with an approaching Bugs Bunny miming the fife with his carrot as The Girl I Left Behind plays in the background. This is all set against a redrawing of the classic American painting The Spirit of 76. Bugs Bunny then begins to eat the carrot he s been holding, when he suddenly begins the song Any Bonds Today? . Suddenly, the purpose of the commercial is finally revealed to the audience, with Bugs song telling people to buy war bonds. All throughout this he gestures, points and moves with an animated flair for the audience. He even exits and reenters frame with an Uncle Sam costume, eventually beginning to act like he s passing out bonds to the audience. Until, with an animated twirl Bugs Bunny appears with blackface and a different singing voice, a parody of the blackface performance Al Jolson did in the movie The Jazz Singer. Finally, the picture pulls in close on Bugs face as he wipes away the paint and once the picture pulls back out the backdrop has changed. It shows a combat scene full of planes and ships as Elmer Fuddand Porky Pigappear to help close the advertisement with singing and dancing. As the song ends a simple war bonds ad pulls into frame. It now presents a Minuteman on the left and texts that reads For Defense Buy United States Savings Bonds and Stamps. The commercial relies heavily on its ethos and pathos to convince the audience into buying war bonds, using very little logos. Furthermore, ethos is used by the commercial with the use of Bugs Bunny as the appeal for the audience. Whether it be going hiking, going to Moore Park, or going to the tennis court, everyone always has plenty of fun and gets challenged in different ways. One of the events this semester that I really enjoyed and valued from would the the Fall Mountain Retreat Hike. The Fall Mountain Retreat Hike that I went on this year was in Vermont. Mr. Philbrick led the way on the very first Vermont hike for this retreat. Although it was a mild hike, we still had some challenges faced. At certain points, there were boulders in our way, so we crunched down to hoist ourselves up through them. Once we finally made it to the top, there was a beautiful cabin with a phenomenal view. Not only that, however, but there was a water tower! Most of us climbed approximately forty feet up and got a better view than ever imagined. On this hike, I learned an amazing amount of knowledge about myself that I did not know before. One would be that I am very squeamish when it comes to walking through spider webs! But more serious than that, I learned that taking a risk and not letting my fears control me will benefit me in the long run. I am terrified of heights, but with a bit of a nudge from others, I climbed the forty foot tower. Despite being nervous on the way up, when I got to the top, it was as if I I had no fear at all. The study fits in with the previous research, as in previously the focus of research was just based on CF being a solution for low levels of grammatical efficiency, which have been explained as the proof against the accuracy of understandable input and exceptionally meaning based direction. The researchers have thus proposed FFI in CF, which is based both on reactive and proactive form of feedback and which has been proposed by the researchers as the most important way of attracting the learners towards language form in case of communicative classroom environment. The main motivation, just as in previous article, is to explore the form focused instruction as alternative way of instruction so as to make CF more proactive as well as reactive. The main hypothesis of this researchis that learners who have been more exposed to the communicative activities including components of the CF would probably get more benefits as compared to those who are exposed only to the communicative activities alone. For this purpose, there were 64 students, who were divided into three different groups in ESL classes in Montreal and there were two experimental conditions that were applied to them. The primary functions of lower courts consist of processing minor offenses but these courts will sometimes process felonies as well, without sentencing the defendant. Major trial courts take the processed felony cases and complete them; in major courts the defendants who are charged with felony crimes mainly enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, which then leads to a trial (Neubauer, 2010). The second component of our dual court system consists of appellate courts. In the U.S. judicial system, a defendant found guilty in a trial court can normally appeal to a higher federal court. These federal courts, or appellate courts, review decisions made by trial courts (Neubauer, 2010). Appellate courts can be on the federal and state level, but do not hold trials or hear new evidence. These courts consist of a judge, or a lawyer, or a group of either one, who read the transcript of the trial and whether the previous decision correctly or incorrectly followed the law (Neubauer, 2010). Similar to trial courts, the federal government and most states have made two different types of appellate courts: intermediate, which hear all cases, and supreme courts, which can pick and choose the cases heard (Neubauer, 2010). Comparing Two Diaries, Donald Vining s A Gay Diary Vol Essay Two Diaries, Donald Vining s A Gay Diary Vol. Two and Martin Duberman s Gay in the Fifties look into the everyday life of gay males in the post World War II Era. While World War II increased freedom for men to sexually explore within the male community, post World War II extended the freedom of exploration but also created a subsequent backlash against homosexual practices. Vining and Duberman s diaries document an extension of gay freedoms in the post World War II period. Although Vining and Duberman give contrasting accounts of their lives as gay males in the postwar period, common themes could be drawn in the form of friendships, sexual activity, relationships, and backlash by heteronormative society. Vining had a social sphere consisting of predominantly homosexuals due to his metropolitan location. Vining, a gay male living in Manhattan, had a very complex social life that consisted mainly of gay, white men. Vining frequently went to the theater, parties, and dinner with his gay friends, and he would constantly be in contact with at least one of his friends (Vining Diary, p. 9, February 5 1947). World War II placed men in all male, close quarters and allowed them to sexually explore, so men in the postwar period sought an extension of this freedom to explore. In typical applications, the signal is in the form of a current or a voltage. For the signal to be useful, it must be modeled. Signal processing takes time dependent data, and manipulates it to create a mathematical model useful to practical problem solvers. Many techniques for signal processing exist, including Fourier Transforms, moving averages, filtering, and spectral analysis. Spectral analysis uses sampled data to reconstruct a given signal. Though conceptually simple, sampling is typically impractical for most applications due to the large quantity of data involved in the calculations. However, the fundamental concepts behind signal processing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fourier Series require an infinite number of frequencies, but the sampling frequency is subdivided into a finite number of frequency ranges to reduce calculations. One cosine and one sine function is needed to represent the signal for each subdivision of the sampling frequency. Let bо‚ m contain the cosine entries at frequency subdivision m, and cо‚ contain the sine entries at m subdivision m. Then, B=[bо‚ о‚‹ bо‚ ] , C=[cо‚ о‚‹ cо‚ ] , D=[B C] , and the columns 0m0m of D form a basis for the vector space V. When he turned to see who was speaking he saw a graphic view of seven candlesticks with a man standing amid them. The display of seven candlesticks and the One in the middle of them was significant to the totality of the vision that John received to be written down for an everlasting record of the things that must certainly come to pass for all believers. • 42. Pros And Cons Of Body Modification Although body modification has some benefits the government should raise or create an age restriction for body surgeries. In third grade, I learned that my uncle had died. A relative dying may not particularly uncommon, but my story varies from others because I had not known my uncle existed. The extent of my knowledge at the time was that my dad had 1 brother but he apparently had 2. My parents never told me about him because they didn;t want me to hang around somebody who used drugs because of the possible influence it could have on me. My uncle s drug addiction began in his teens. He ended up stealing stuff in order to pay for them, unbeknownst to his parents and my dad. I think this perfectly illustrates the lapse in judgement of teens because my uncle made the choice to do drugs once which at the time may have seemed cool but if he thought it through, maybe he never would have actually used them. If he was older at that time, he may have thought his decision through more than he did and he would still be alive today. The major judgement issues in teens result in much more than just a drug addiction but they may result in a teen with a completely surgically changed body. In order to prevent this, having an age restriction presents itself as the only solution. Although some use body modificationfor an outlet in which they express themselves, the government must create an age limit of 21 for the procedures. Granted that body modification has certain drawbacks, it does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Moral Value Of Moral Values The claim that moral values cannot be derived from facts is grounded in the idea that facts are descriptive and informative, whereas value propositions are prescriptive and imply that we ought to carry out certain action or act in a particular way. In essence, while facts give us information about the world itself, values tell us how we should act. It is accepted that facts are cognitive and are therefore know to be true or false. However, non cognitivists support the idea that moral truths cannot be known due to the notion that any individual who is making moral judgements is not articulating their beliefs about the way the world is. Essentially, it is believed that there are no transcendent moral thoughts to be known or discovered by individuals. David Hume initially pointed out that it would be illogical to derive facts from values facts cannot be used in the assignment of values. This was later referred to as the is ought gap, fact value distinction, or naturalistic fallacyto use the term created by G.E. Moore. Primarily, it is a matter of fact what our moral duties are. For example; Plato argued that the good can be known through reason, and the knowledge of the good is sufficient enough to motivate us to pursue it. However, in accordance to Hume s Law, no factual description of an action can entail a value judgement concerning it. Additionally, reason alone cannot provide motivation for action, or that beliefs are distinct from desires. On the contrary, Kant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being in the Geometric period, these vases started using different shapes, such as spirals, and diamonds, which the previous are styles were not accustomed too. Death and funerary practices are of particular interest to archaeologists, mainly because funerary remains are often some of the best preserved and most widely available resources for studying ancient cultures. Graves and the objects found within them can potentially provide a wealth of information about everything from the life and death of the deceased individual to the beliefs, rituals, and customs of the society as a whole. Funerary remains allow archaeologists a glimpse into the individual s personal taste, socio economic status, and position within society. Perhaps a more credible result of studying these remains, however, is the insight into the ways in which the individual was remembered and regarded by his or her survivors. A large number of Greek vases from the Geometric period (approximately 900 700 BCE) focus on burial and mourning styles. These vases come primarily from the provinces of Attica, Boeotia, and the Argolid on the Greek mainland. The styles shown on vases from these areas are so similar to one another that scholars believe the styles all originate from Bronze Age traditions some 800 1000 years prior.
