attention. Making the audience want to carry on and watch the rest of
the film. Also the opening is used to introduce charater in the film.

3.  The primary audience for this film would be male adults between the
ages of 25-45. because males are generally more interested in
horror films. I have given this age range because this is quite a
gruesome film and has a lot of adult themes. However the age range
could go down to 15 because as the horror genre becomes more
popular within the younger generations more younger people will
start to watch the horror genre.
 The socio economic grouping that the target audience is either C1 or
C2 because in these catagories people would have steady jobs
possibly settling down and have the time to watch these kinds of
films.

4.  The narrative of Evil Dead’s opening is very much a linear narrative
because it has the beginning middle and an end that the linear
narrative structure uses.
 It starts with a young female being chased in a forest then being
kidnapped by her own father who burns her alive believing it would
cleanse her spirit.

5.  The location for the opening of Evil Dead is a forest then a
barn/shack in the forest. They both seem isolated from the outside
world. This makes the audience know that the young girl is trapped
in the scene.
 The barn/shack is a great way to introduce other characters to the
film, as it does.

6.  As this opening is in a forest the lighting is very dark and cold. There
is a hint of blue and silver colour coming into the frame symbolising
loneliness, this is because of the amount of trees that is covering the
main character, even though it does appear to be daytime not much
sunlight can get through the trees, therefore she is shrouded from
the light meaning she is trapped.
 The use of the candles gives a glow to the main character
emphasising her features. And the glow could indicate pureness, so
the use of fire on the main character to make her pure again.

7.  The female character in the opening the Evil Dead is wearing a
dress, covered in mud and other dirty substances., with dirty muddy
white trainers. The idea that the young female character wearing a
dress could symbolise pureness and innocence however shoeing
that her trainers are all scuffed up and dirty could mean that she isn't
all pure and innocent.
 The male character in the opening is wearing a white shirt, again
using the white to symbolise pureness but he does have blood on his
shirt meaning that he isn't all pureness too.
