- 1. Evidence
- 2. Evidence. The first screen grab on the right is the folder where I am keeping all my footage and photos for the film. In it there are photos evidencing the filming process, as well as recording the audio and editing my film. The second screen grab is of my rough cut, for this I simply put the shots in the correct sequence, removing the audio on the footage and replacing it with the recorded voice over. I then exported this copy to my YouTube. The last screen grab is of my film when I added the background music in, in this shot I am editing the music so that it blends together smoothly, I have also edited the volume to ensure that the music takes a role in the background rather than being centre of attention.
- 3. Evidence for editing. Top left is evidence for editing the sound levels in my film so that they are balanced and work together well to create a smooth soundtrack for my film. Top right I am evidencing the use of transitions between the scenes. The one I found to work best is the film dissolve, this is the one I have used most often throughout my film. This is because it blends the scenes seamlessly without making the changes obvious. Bottom left is the settings I used to export my film when I had finished editing. - 5. Client requirements. I have successfully created a short film, which meets the specifications set by the client. The film I have created is little over 5 minutes long, which is the length it needed to be to feature on shortoftheweek. I have received feedback from my cast stating that they believe that it is engaging, and that it gets the intended message across. The dialogue is the most important part of my film, as without it there would be no clear story. However, it all works together well to portray the mood and story that I set out to create. The main requirement for shortoftheweek is that the film is an original idea, whilst my film isn’t obviously about the benches, it still works on a completely unique idea and this is portrayed through my execution.
- 6. Quality There are some shots in my film which, if I had more time I would have liked to recreate as they aren’t quite in focus. However, I believe that these shots actually work to my advantage for the parts of the film that they’re in as it helps the idea of remorse be portrayed. There are also a couple of shaky shots due the camera being moved by the wind that day. Ideally I would like to re film these shots on a more suitable day with regards to the weather. However,I did manage to get several different shots in to my film, which all work together to effectively. I did have to edit the sound out of the original shots, this is due to the wind making any talking inaudible. This is why the voiceover has been done completely separately, and the actors on screen don’t appear to be speaking. I have found that this works in my advantage to portray the benches as the ones speaking rather than the characters on the benches.
- 7. The whole process Whilst working in the different units I have learnt a lot about film making. There is so much dedication and problem solving to overcome. If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would be sure to keep to deadlines, this was a major set back for me during the process, especially with filming. I would also need to re-evaluate who my actors would be as the original actors kept backing out of filming plans. Keeping to schedule was definitely the largest problem I faced, and had I worked better, I believe my film would be of a higher quality. I found editing to be relatively simple, however, next time I would make sure I knew the software thoroughly as it did take some experimenting to get the results I wanted.
