3. So I redid the task and I feel that I
did much better and put more
creativity in it this time. I tried to use
more items this time and make
them more diverse but still balanced
in a way. This was more challenging
because it put my creativity to the
test but it did help me improve my
piece. I think that I could’ve also did
the color wheel for the nail polish as
well.
5. FOR THIS TASK, I DECIDED TO DRAW AN OPTICAL
ILLUSION. MY INITIAL IDEA WAS TO DRAW A 3D
LETTER WITH A DROP SHADOW BEHIND IT, MAKING IT
LOOK LIKE IT WAS COMING OFF OF THE PAGE. AFTER I
DREW IT I DIDN’T LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKED SO
DECIDED TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE. I DREW CHAIN
LINKS. I WATCHED A YOUTUBE VIDEO ON IT, THEN
TRIED IT BY MYSELF. IT LOOKED HARDER THAN IT
ACTUALLY WAS. WHAT I LEARNED FROM THIS WAS
THAT SHADING REALLY DOES PLAY A PART IN MAKING
OPTICAL ILLUSIONS. IN MY INITIAL IDEA I FELT THAT MY
SHADING WAS A BIT OFF SO MAYBE THAT WAS WHY
IT LOOKED NOT AS I THOUGHT. TO IMPROVE MY
CHAIN LINKS I THINK THAT I SHOULD TRY TO MAKE
THE EDGES MORE ROUND BECAUSE ALL OF THEM
WEREN’T AS ROUND AS THE OTHERS.
MY INITIAL IDEA.
6. Buddhist Mandala Research Page
The Buddhist mandala originates in many Asian societies such as Tibet, India,
Nepal, China, Japan, Bhutan, and Indonesia. It started in the 4th century and
was created as a sacred object. The mandala was a symbolic picture of the
universe. The name "mandala" comes from the Sanskrit word for "circle". On
the top right mandala, the outermost circle is a ring of fire, which both bars
entry to the uninitiated and symbolizes the burning of ignorance. The next
circle is a ring of diamonds, which stands for illumination. Next is a circle of
eight graveyards, symbolizing the death of the eight aspects of consciousness
that prevent an individual from escaping the cycle of rebirth. The innermost
circle is a ring of lotus leaves, signifying spiritual rebirth. At the center of the
mandala is a square, which represents a palace with four entrance gates.
Mandalas are used as an aid to meditation, helping a person to achieve inner
peace and unity with the world. The circle symbolizes the many uniting as
one, as well as the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. This is linked to the culture
because creating a mandala is a sacred practice that is part of the training of
every Tibetan Buddhist monk. What we can learn from this is that the
mandala's purpose is to help transform ordinary minds into enlightened ones
and to assist with healing.
7. Buddhists often meditate because they believe it helps
awaken truth. Buddhism encourages its people to avoid self-
indulgence but also self-denial. Buddha's most important
teachings, known as The Four Noble Truths, are essential to
understanding the religion.
Knowledge of culture, traditions and history influences
someone’s personal responses to art because now the person
can figure out the meaning of the art piece with a bit of
insight on why the piece was made. It can help the viewer
see the art piece from the perspective of the artist as well.
In this case the viewer can understand a sense of self needs
or self thinking patterns. What I like about mandalas if that
there are so many shape forms that you can do to make it
look cool. I chose this because I thought it would be pretty
cool to make one.

8. My Mandala Evaluation
My original plan was to draw this
outside with chalk on the sidewalk but
unfortunately the weather conditions
said otherwise. It was very rainy and
too wet to draw. On the sunny days I
tried to go out but my allergies kicked
in and I was sneezing all over the
place , eyes red and itchy, it was just
a mess. So I did it on paper and it
doesn’t look as good as I thought it
would. I tried to do a fall themed color
scheme but I don’t like the way it
looks. It would’ve looked better if I did
like a blue, pink purple, light red theme.
What I learned from this was next
time I should add more stuff to make
it look a bit cooler and to try out the
color with each other.
10. This was my favorite activity that I’ve done so far.
The editing part was a little hard but after MANY
tries I finally got the hang of it. The hardest part of
this was matching the frame that you wanted to the
moving part and also making sure that it looked
real. One thing that I learned is that if you don’t
have a tripod to take the videos, then you need
EXTREMELY steady hands. I didn’t own one so I
had to keep re-shooting videos because I kept
moving too much. I also learned that the frame line
to match the video was THE most important part
because if it didn’t match then the picture would be
a flop. The best part was looking at the finished
product because it’s satisfying. I think it would’ve
been cooler if I could’ve gone out to like a graffiti
wall or a the woods or something like that. To
improve this next time I will adjust the frames more
and be more precise when lining the blend between
the animated and inanimate parts.
12. I chose to do a mosaic on google drawings
because I felt that it would be fun and cool to do.
It wasn’t as easy as I thought. I clearly struggled
with symmetry and I think that the shapes were
all supposed to be triangles, but I’m not sure. As
you can see there are two pictures of the mosaic
because my original idea didn’t have the strings
to the balloons so they were kind of a last minute
plan to make the mosaic look more like the
picture. I didn’t know if it helped or not so I just
took a screenshot of both. So, clearly my mosaics
looks nothing like the examples and I'm a little
upset that it didn't turn out as good as I thought
it would be. I believe that the problem is that it
doesn't look well put together and I don't know
how to make it look more balanced. One thing I
learned and will do in the future is make the
pieces look more close together because I also
think that some of the problem was the spacing
and I will try to incorporate that element more
the next time I may do this task.
17. Initial Ideas
My first idea is the
netflix recommendations
poster to promote
staying home. It basically
has little message on
their saying stay home
and here are some
things that you can
watch.
My next idea for a stay home
poster is promoting a glow up.
It’s things that you can improve
on while staying at home and
not too hard to do. For example
for Hair I could suggest some
different hair masks that work
or for Face I could suggest a
skincare routine to follow.
My 3rd idea was to
give some easy to-
do recipes for
desserts because
everyone loves a
sweet snack. The
desserts could be like
3 or less ingredients
or like mug cakes and
stuff like that..
18. Media Experimentation
My initial plan was
to use this but it
looks more like a
Netflix ad rather
than promoting
staying home.

20. Documentation
This is the font and
background the I chose to
use.
I decided that I wanted someone
to say the speech bubble but
then I changed it at the last
minute so that a doctor would say
it.

22. Evaluation:
Overall the project wasn’t a hard task at all. I choose
to do a poster because I like making them. At first
my poster was less of promoting people to stay
home and more of an Ad. I appreciate the feedback
by the way. 🙂 I like the turn out of the new poster
I made which promotes staying home a lot better
than the first. This could have been even better if I
knew how to put cool background designs as well.
But I felt like If I did it would be too much and I also
didn’t want anything to take away from the text.
