The document evaluates a water advert, noting strengths like fitting music that included heartbeats relevant to the fitness theme, and fade editing that allowed for smooth transitions. Weaknesses included empty shots, inconsistent clothing between shots, slogan text overlapping the product at the end, and an obvious backdrop table. Overall, the evaluator learned how to better use editing software and manage time for future projects like a deodorant advert.
2. Strengths of the advert
The music we chose fits in with the shots we used in the advert.
The music is also relevant to the theme of our advert which is fitness and running, the music
included heartbeats.
Some shots at the start of the advert also had fade editing which allows the advert to run more
smoothly.
The tone of the music is also a positive as it is upbeat and energetic which goes with what we were
trying to promote in the advert (exercise)
3. Weaknesses
There were some empty shots in the advert.
The continuity of mise en scene- coats in some shots and not in others.
The text (slogan) at the end of the advert was over the product.
The background for the products displayed at the end of the advert
didn’t look as good as it could (obvious table in the shot)
Empty Shot
4. Evaluation of advert
• I have learnt from this advert a better understanding of how to use
the editing software which will help me for my future deodorant
advert.
• I also have a better understanding of time and how many shots I will
need to include as 30 takes longer to film and needs more shots than
I originally thought so I now have a better concept of time which will
help me when filming my next advert.
