on. To ensure I use the right genre which suits my preferences
and style, I must conduct research into various music genres
that are of interest to me, in detail and this will help me become
familiarized with various artists within that genre, which will
eventually help me pick a song from the genre. This will help me
discover traits of different genres so my promotional package will
fit the target audience of my chosen genre.
Genre is a type of media product, in this case, it is a music video. I have found
there are elements of music video genres that feature in all videos. These
were made open through theorist Andrew Goodwin, who stated that the
majority of music videos use similar characteristics, including:
•Close ups of the artist (to promote)
•Intertextual references
•There is a relationship between the visuals, lyrics and music
In my final product, I shall try and apply some of these characteristics to
conform to genre conventions and to attract my target audience.
