of a rock Magazine

Large Masthead, Bold
catches attention

Dark Colours used, Red,
Black And the white is
used as a contrast colour,
These colours all connote
Violence, danger and
Aggression.

Eye catchy fonts, That
stand out to the eye as
they only glimpse at it.
Main Image has dark
clothing and dull facial
expressions which is
conventional .

Images attract attention
and make it more
cluttered which is good.

The use of pull quotes
makes the reader want to
read on to find out the
story.

The use of Free posters in a
magazine makes the reader want
to buy the magazine, This is due
to the Audience being relatively
young and the ‘Free’ Appeals to
them and not only young people
but most of their Audience.

Cluttered layout.

Cover lines used to
attract readers attention
and then they want to
read the Magazine
articles.

The use of feature bands in a magazine is used to
attract the audience in as they want to read about a
band they recognise.

Main Image is eye catching, It draws
the readers attention and then they
read on to find out about the Image.

Contrasting Colours, The
black on the white.

Conventional Editors Letter

Other images are used on the contents
to catch peoples eye s which also fills up
the page using that cluttered layout

Colours- Black, Red, Yellow are used
these all relate to the rick genre due
to what they connote, Red is For
blood and violence, Black connotes
Death and aggression and Yellow
connotes danger.

The content in the magazine,
Is in the same style as it is in
every Kerrang! Magazine
every week, This is done to
so that the contents become
recognised around the
country, It is usually either
set out at the bottom of the
page or down this side this is
also so that it becomes a
recognised thing.

Use of different font styles
which attract attention with
the young target audience as
they would get bored of just
one font.

Use of loads of small images
around the double page
spread this is used so that it
conventionally links to the
parts of the text, It has little
captions underneath making
It clear on what it’s talking
about.

spread which draws the
attention to that side and
then the information, The
image is conventional as it
consists of Dark clothing and
heavy metal instruments.

Use of kicker to draw
the readers eye to the
article.

Conventional Use of a stand
first to give the reader a lot
more info about the article.

Pull quote to give the pages the conventional full
layout and it allows sets the tone of the article,
and what's included In the article.

Boxed out information which
will interest the reader more
as it’s in a box.
