EVALUATION
QUESTION 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction,
Research, planning and evaluation stages?
Photoshop
Using photoshopCS3 allowed me to
enhance adjust and create my
regional magazine with ease.The
software meant I could adapt my
photos as I could brighten, trim,
adjust the contrast, add text and
add effects such as drop shadow to
help certain texts and images stand
out. From my existing knowledge of
Photoshop at AS level I found using
it at A2 much easier which meant I
could finish the production quicker
as I didn’t need to learn what the
tools were which enabled me to get
more done in a shorter period of
time
Camera and phone
I used the Canon EOS 1300D Digital SLR Camera to take the majority of my
photos for my production. Using the canon proved effective when taking
my photos as it produced high quality photos for my magazine, this was
achieved as the camera used the 18.0 Megapixel EOS 1300D, had an
Aperture of f/3.5-5.6 and photos could be easily Shared instantly usingWi-
Fi. Allowing me to edit my high quality photos with quick and easy access. I
also used my iPhone 6 which obviously didn’t take great quality photos
however still had an 8-megapixel 1/3-inch sensor with a 1.5µm pixel size. I
used my iPhone 6 as it was quick and easy to take a good image of a
picturesque photo which I could use in my magazine when I was out and
didn’t have the camera with me.
I also used my phone not only for the camera but also to access social media
and emails quickly, using the social media apps on my phone allowed me to
communicate quickly with my focus group, which allowed me to progress
with my production quicker because if I needed quick feedback then social
media was the easiest way to receive a quick response.
Google/Internet Using google aided me with my
research and planning as I could look
up pre-existing media, different fonts
and certain websites. Using google is
a fast and easy way when helping me
with my research and would’ve taken
a lot longer without it, for example
reviewing, buying and collecting
magazines would take a very long
time to collect and analyse. Google
also allowed me to access sites such
as blogger,YouTube and wix, which
were all key with my progression.
Wix
When creating my last ancillary task I used a website called wix, which is a website
which provides a template to build your own website. This made it much easier for
me to complete my final ancillary task as all I had to do was add images, texts and
titles, however I could change the layout or the style of the website If I wished to.
Yahoo/Emails Using yahoo emails enabled me to send a
number of emails to a large number of
people from my focus group. The reason I
did it over email and not social media
such as Facebook was because not all of
my target audience had social media
whereas everyone had an email account
so the easiest way to contact them and
organise when we could meet up to talk
about fonts and colour schemes etc. was
over email allowing me to progress with
my magazine quicker.
Blogger
I used blogger to post all of my research, planning and final construction once they
were completed. Allowing me to upload my work to blogger with ease meant I could
keep all my finished work In one place. With blogger also organising the lay out of my
work in a chronological order, clearly showing how myA2 coursework has progressed
over time.
