Within the construction, research and evaluation of my media
products, I used many different technologies throughout this
year, many I was familiar with but now I feel I have perfected
and I’ve even used new technologies that I had never of used
for example “Premiere pro” “ One drive etc…
In A2 the camera I used was much more advance as this camera had a efs 18-55mm Image stabiliser STM lens, this stm lens
allows for zoom with minimal noise, this was a much more complex camera as it was a DSLR (Digital single lense reflex) compared
to the one in the first year as that was a compact camera , as this camera had so many more features for example compared to
first years camera , as firstly when I first used a camera in AS I was inexperienced so the camera was always shaky and I found it
hard to maintain balance however with this camera I acknowledged the fact my camera I used for A2 has a image stablising tool,
so I didn’t really need a tripod as this tool lessened camera shake hugely when the camera is hand held.
In order to send large files via emails such as videos and images, I used an application called “One Drive”
as normal Hotmail won’t let you send large files, so I downloaded this through Hotmail, as it would save a lot of time and e
once it was downloaded.
This is the laptop I mainly did my work on it is a called a ‘HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11-e006AU Laptop’, This laptop was very
important throughout my work as my work was mainly done on it, from my research to my evaluation, as I from using this laptop
I had access to the internet, I could also record of this laptop too, so for my interviews I simply used a program called ‘Youcam’,
which luckily enough came with the laptop and I simply pressed click and recorded what I had to.
Within my planning and construction my phone was handy as uploading and sending
straight from your phone can be much quicker than to do so from your phone,
another example this phone was handy was the fact that I didn’t always have to use
my camera as it would be too heavy so sometimes I didn’t have the camera on me, so
for example if I liked a location I could easily just pull out my phone and take a
snapshot later on to look back and reflect upon.
• In order to transfer my work from one place to another I used a
memory stick and an SD card, these helped me immensely whenever
I wanted to carry on with my work when I wasn’t on my own personal
computer.
• A GoPro is an American brand of high-definition personal cameras, often
used in extreme action video photography. They are known for being
lightweight, rugged, wearable or mountable in unusual places such as
outside planes, cars, boats or army tanks, however I used my friends for a
scene where my actor is sprinting, giving a much more personal point of
view shot, I didn’t know of this product before this project, but I now am
very comfortable with it and can use it with ease. You can also down the
‘GoPro App’ which turns your smartphone or tablet into a convenient
remote control for your camera. Preview and play back your photos and
videos, then share your favourites via email, text, Instagram, Facebook and
many more, which I found personally was very helpful and interesting.
• When I started editing and creating magazines again, from AS, Web
Page Plus helped me get back on track with my skills, I found this
website very easy and straight forward to use, however I believed the
program lacked a bit of imagination.
The program I chose to do edit my trailer and put it together was called “Premiere pro”, I chose this program
in particular because it is much more powerful than your normal program, it also has plenty of special effects
and sophisticated edits, I also believe it is the quickest most easiest to use personally.
• In order to of created my logo I used Adobe Photoshop as I believe it
is one of the most simplest and effective editing software's around, in
the first year I got familiar with it but this year I believe I am very
confident with the programme now and even to the stage it is too
basic for me now.
• This is what I used instead of Adobe to create my magazine and
poster as I believe you have a much more wider variety of tools and
effects you can add, plus I believe this programme is a lot faster and
runs smoother with what you do.
• Many social media websites helped me through out both years but mainly more in second as it helped me
with my research, planning, constructing and also evaluation stages, as I could easily with a click of a button
upload my trailer for others to see and gain feedback and to then put on my blog. It also gained me access to
many other trailers, which I took large amounts of inspiration from, which also helped me find out a little bit
more about typical horror conventions, however there was some issues as uploading videos could take long
and this could subsequently have a knock on affect to my whole project.
• I also used other sites such as Facebook and Twitter as my friends were more likely to be on that so I
uploaded it to fb to gain feedback and it, plus my friend was also able to “share” my video which he did,
increasing the amount of views I have.
Google is a very popular search engine, this particular search engine has helped me immensely
through out both years AS & A2, this is because in order to of got to my research, planning and
evaluation I went through Google, as it allowed to me research about different Theorist, Shots,
Information, Media products and already existing media conventions.
Alongside Google Blogger, this was a another very important social media site I have heavily relied
on both years, as it allowed me to post my coursework online with ease, at first it was a little
difficult to use but once I got use to the program it became ever so simple. On Blogger you can
share pretty much anything you like from pictures to videos to all sorts.
• I have also recently learned how to use this new media technology
software called “Prezi” another similar one is called “Slideshare”,
these both I believe are very straight forward and easy to use, these I
believe make what you are trying to portray a lot more interesting
and personal way of presenting your work, it is also a lot more fun
and creative well, compared to the normal, old fashioned way of
presenting things.
