1. Looking back to your preliminary
task, what do you feel that you
have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?
2. My two front covers differ majorly from each other, nevertheless they do have the odd bit of similarities. For example the
pose of the models are somewhat similar in the sense that the two pictures are mid/long shot photographs. Plus the
headlines are very obvious and do stand out differently from all the other sell lines.
One of the main reasons they both look different from one another and have been designed different from one another is
because they both have different intentions as well as target audiences so more was done to one than the other; the school
magazine was targeted fro a minority in a specific college and the music magazine was more targeted for a universal
audience who were placed around the urban areas of London so information like a bar code, the date and issue number had
to be presented at the front of the magazine cover. I believe I have made a big amount of progress regarding editing as my
school magazine was completed using the software publisher whereas my music magazine was completed using Photoshop
a much more advanced software that gives you a much more professional look and finish to your final product. My target
audience think my final magazine cover does look rather believable and realistic and mentioned they can imagine it on a
shop shelf, however they do believe the previous button I used in the draft would’ve suited the front cover more than this
one does.
3. Regarding my contents page, again due to the different audiences and the different intention behind the
distribution of the magazine they both look very different to one another. The school magazine contents page
includes an editors letter whereas the music magazine contents page doesn’t instead it has a competitions
banner which I believe is much more playful and exciting for the reader as it’s something to consider and look
forward to in a sense. Plus the contents page for the music magazine is so much more detailed and creative as
the page numbers are in different colours and fonts to the actual title of the article furthermore the imagery is
fixed and straight and works well and much better than the school contents page. Again I would say I have
majorly improved as I upgraded from the software publisher to Photoshop furthermore for both of the copies I
also used software such as Picasa 3 which again helped me greatly and allowed me to create such a successful
final product. Lastly my target audience believed my contents page was very professional and agreed it was laid
out perfectly and definitely showed off my creative flair.
