1. 1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media
products?
2. Researching recent projects at the start of the project
made me realise the typical forms and conventions of
magazines/products today in which my final product
has lots of examples of conventions, for instance each
finished product I planned a mock-up layout so that I’d
plan around that to achieve the expected result; on my
contents page and front cover the name of my
magazine is displayed at the top of the page so the
readers can notice my magazine efficiently; under the
masthead on my front cover is clearly displays the issue
and price of the magazine as well as a bar code on the
bottom right; all of my finished products have a clear
house style which is very important I’ve maintained the
colour scheme on the front cover and the contents
page…
3. Buton the DPS I changed it to keep it interesting and
unusual, therefore challenging normal conventions.
Many magazines are very crowded and busy
cramming in a lot of information, as the front cover
of a magazine is extremely important I’ve
challenged conventions by making it simpler, using
less cover lines and having simpler texts…
4. My house style is clean and simple in which is
different compared to a lot of magazine, I think by
keeping it simple It’ll just highlight the most
important information that my target audience
which be particularly interested in. Most magazines
use bright colours to captures audiences attentions
as colours connote different meanings, especially
magazines who’s target audiences are aimed at
teens; but as my target audience is for women aged
25 years and over you tend to see more bland and
mature colours which is which contributed to my
idea of making the colour scheme a simple
black, white and red.
