The document discusses techniques learned from constructing a video project in Adobe Premiere Pro. Some of the key techniques include: learning how to import and arrange clips, add video transitions, insert text with selected fonts, import and time soundtracks to match footage, and use features like warp stabilizer and black fades for transitions. The process of working with the new software was initially challenging but the creator was able to attain various editing techniques that made manipulating footage easier.
1. What have you learnt about techniques from the
process of constructing this product?
To construct this product I used Adobe Premiere Pro,
which is a semi-professional video editing software,
which allows the user to edit footage to a highly polished
and decent standard.
I have never used this software before so it was rather
challenging at first, however after coming to terms with it
more, I managed to attain various new techniques to
allow for easier manipulation of my footage.
2. • For example; I learnt basic editing techniques
such as a few available video transitions that
could be dragged and dropped between clips, i.e.
dissolves, fades, slides, wipes, 3D motions, etc.
• I also learnt how to import clips, e.g. the
soundtrack for my film, distributor logo,
production company logo, etc from the internet
into this program.
• In addition to this, I learnt how to order/arrange
clips, so that the sequence of events to my film
makes sense.
3. • Also, I gained the ability to insert quite a
fluent quote (on a black background) into my
film, add text to display casting names such as
‘costume design’, in a specifically selected font
(as to fit the theme of my film), aided by
websites such as ‘DaFont’ (a free font
downloading website) – specifically my font
being ‘Kozuka’, as I think it fit the rigid, formal,
academic, neat feel to my film.
4. • Moreover I learned how to import a soundtrack from
the internet to this program, and then specifically
adjust it so that it the timing corresponds with my
footage (adding to the overall fluidity of the clip.)
• Also one of my clips had camera shake and was
uneven, however I learnt that this was not a problem
as I could use ‘warp stabilizer’ to analyize the footage
and then smooth out any unsteady camera work.
• I also learnt to use the very effective technique of
fading the screen to black, to add to the dramatic
effect as transitioning between two clip.
