The document discusses ways to attract an audience for a magazine product. It describes using sophisticated photos targeting a wealthy urban audience while maintaining a refined layout. A questionnaire was conducted with 10 people of varying ages and genders. Responses showed the magazine appealed to and was understood by the target demographic of young club-going males aged 18-25, while one response indicated it may be too expensive and specialized for mainstream success. In conclusion, the magazine was largely successful in attracting its intended audience through visuals and style, but risks being too niche for widespread popularity.
2. How others have attracted there
audience
There are many ways in which I attempted to target my
audience, preliminary through my photos. As I was targeting a sophisticated
market, I thought the best way to successfully emphasise my genre is
through the images rather than the layout. I researched through similar
style magazines and found various conventions that they generally consist
of:
•Energetic images of people dancing
•Men exaggerating their masculinity
•Attractive women in little clothing
•Men and women flaunting their fashionable items (clothes, hair, shoes and
accessories)
•Technology
I have taken these into account when creating my product.
3. How I have attracted my audience
I have ensured a suitable layout in order to attract a
more sophisticated audience, yet the photos are to
target the audience that perhaps come from poverty
and have made their way up to wealth. I have achieved
this by using a model that appearslike he is from an
urban culture, however manipulating it with finesse on
photoshop. I believe that I have successfully achieved
attracting the correct audience because I had a great
response. I created a questionnaire whereby I asked 10
people of varied age groups and sexes. Here are 5 of
the answers I have handpicked.
4. Questionnaire
Female 43
This is perfectly what I
would have hoped for. It
proves that I attracted
my target audience very
well as she guessed my
target market to be
“young, students (18-25)
clubbers – perhaps male
orientated”. Also she has
said that it is specialist
proving that my
magazine appears
perhaps individual.
5. Questionnaire
Male 17
As this is a 17 year old
male that is attracted to
the magazine and
appeals to his taste in
music this answer also is
brilliant as it shows-yet
again that I have met my
audience profile.
6. Questionnaire
Male 17
The overall response
from this person is
good, however he points
out that the price is
rather high. This could
either show that he
perhaps wasn’t as high
socially as my target
market, or I have priced
it too high.
Additionally he made a
valid point about the
descriptions/reviews of
certain tracks.
7. Questionnaire
Male 15
I asked a person that is
under my target
audience to see his
response. It perfectly
demonstrates that he is
too young for my
magazine.
8. Questionnaire
Female 16
This is actually quite
surprising. It shows that
this lady is interested in
the magazine. I
personally thought that it
would not attract
women.
9. Conclusion of responses
These responses have taught me that my magazine has successfully
attracted my correct audience and also have succeeded in making it
aesthetically pleasing. When questioning people of my target age
range, 80% said that they would buy it if found in a shop however
might have an issue with the price. This might show that my product
is very successful in attracting its audience. However it could
possibly show that it would be a very mainstream product that
many of the younger generation would buy, as I attempted to go for
a more individualist audience this could be a downfall.
The overall rating out of these responses is: 40 / 50
