The document discusses plans for a magazine called STARDUST aimed at teenage girls. Key details include:
1) The name STARDUST was chosen as it is unique, memorable, and implies the magazine will be about stars.
2) The magazine will be priced at £3.50 to target teenagers whose parents pay without being too expensive.
3) The magazine will have a feminine design with bright colors, images of pop stars, and contrasting splashes of color for important information.
4) It will be released weekly on Wednesdays and sold in supermarkets, shopping centers, newsagents, and corner shops.
2. The masthead of my magazine will be called STARDUST. I have
chosen this name because it is unique and memorable, it also
includes the word ‘star’ which implies what the magazine will be
about or include, because the name is different I think that it could
become popular. I wrote a polljunkie which allowed my audience to
decide the name out of three possible options.
This shows that STARDUST was everyone’s favorite.
Here are some examples of my Masthead in different styled writing:
3. After doing my audience research I have realised that
my target audience are at an age where they don’t
have a job yet, therefore, it’s most likely that their
parents will be paying for the magazine. This is why I
have decided to price my magazine at £3.50, this price
isn’t too expensive but is a little more than average,
however, it will be a worth while price due to freebies
within the magazine.
4. My position statement is going to be simple and
short so that it is more memorable for the target
audience and will be more recognisable. I feel
that it also makes the point of the magazine
obvious. I have decided to call it ‘simply pop’.
5. My magazine will be out continuously, every week, I
have decided to release it in the middle of the
week on a Wednesday to help the fans enjoy their
week a little more and also it gives them something
to look forward to.
6. My magazine will be sold in large, well known
supermarkets such as ASDA and Morrisons. It will
also be sold in shopping center, news agents and
corner shops.
7. My magazine will have a teenage style to it as it is aimed at a
younger audience. It needs to have bright colours and images of the
latest celebrity singers. As this magazine is for teenage girls at age
13+ the colours would most likely be more feminine such as pinks
and purples, this will help the magazine appeal to the audience.
As this is for pop music the image would be of a pop star that it
seen as a role model toward teenagers, they will already probably
be attractive, however, they need to be dressed appropriately for a
younger audience and should give off a happy vibe by little features
such as smiling, colours ect.
There will also need to be contrasting splashes of colour such as
yellow and in these eye catching spaces I will place information
about what the magazine contains whether it be prizes, interviews
or questionnaires.
8. I will have regular content in my magazine. This
will include the same amount of pages each time
and the price of the magazine at £3.50.
There will be other features within the magazine
that will be regular content for example, a
contents page, questionnaire and celebrity
interviews.
9. I will be having specials for my magazine, for example
near Christmas I will have a Christmas special where
there will be free gifts inside the magazine, e.g. make
up or hair accessories.
