2. Feedback from our Rough Cut
• Before we began to get feedback on our rough cut for our trailer we had to try and
establish who our target audience would be for our film. To do this we had to
research trailers and films from the same genre as our film. We looked at other
films such as The Purge: Anarchy, Perfect Stranger and The Call as they all had
similar target audiences to each other and all were of a similar thriller genre which
our film was. Therefore we came to the conclusion that our target audience were
people of both genders between the ages of 15 and 25.
• We published the rough cut of our trailer to YouTube so that a small selection of
people from our target audience could see it and give us feedback on the trailer
and give us ideas of what we could change and what differences we could make to
improve it and make it more appealing to everyone else within the target audience.
We filmed the feedback we got from our rough cut.
4. Changes After Rough Cut Feedback
• After we got the feedback from our rough cut we had to work on the
improvements we needed to make to make the trailer better and more
appealing to our target audience.
• The first change we made was to add music to our trailer and when we
published the rough cut there was no sound, diegetic or non-diegetic and
therefore we had to add a track to play throughout the trailer.
5. Changes After Rough Cut Feedback
• Secondly, we edited the coloured tint that we had throughout our trailer
to make it less dominant and make it a bit more subtle as the green tint
was only there to add a sense of jealousy and envy throughout the trailer
but we didn’t want it to be the main focus.
6. Changes After Rough Cut Feedback
• Also, we added in another clip of Tom stalking Becky but the clip was from
Tom’s point of view. We added more of this clip as the feedback was
positive when they saw other clips of this we had already in the rough cut
and therefore we thought it would be effective to add more of the filming
from this perspective.
• This then increased the length
of our trailer.
7. Survey Monkey Feedback
• Once we made changes to
our trailer from the
feedback we got after the
rough cut we showed the
same audience the
amended trailer and
asked them to fill out a
survey about the trailer
on surveymonkey.com.
8. Survey Monkey Feedback
• Once we got feedback from the survey we made on surveymonkey.com,
we analysed the feedback to see if there were any more final
improvements we could make to our trailer to make it better. However,
the feedback we got was positive and it seemed that everybody who took
part in the survey thought the trailer made sense, they thought the
soundtrack and clips we had used worked well and didn’t give any
improvements for us. Our feedback also told us that every person who
filled out the survey would recommend our film.
